Exploring the world as they could was starting to become something of a habit for Orobas. Before their original, untimely end, they'd only ever spent time where they had originally been from; that of Rome, and the areas they'd conquered along the way. Not one had they taken the opportunity to step outside of that territory. Not for any sort of political meeting, exploration, or anything of the like. Where it stood, they simply spent their time where they felt most comfortable. Though, for the day, that was something that was going to change. They wanted to explore! To truly get to know the world that was eventually going to fall to them.
For the time being, they'd set their sights on New York City. A wonderful, bustling place full of lively people, sounds of the city, and anything else they could really hope to find. From an outside perspective, the city seemed to have it all! All of the shops, tourist attractions, and other unique little experiences that anyone could possibly want. Truth be told, they loved the city scene. They loved the constant busyness that places like this had to offer; there was a sort of relaxing element to it, that much was evident. Perhaps if the circumstances were a bit different, this could've been a great area to set up and open up another branch of their little antique shop. Perhaps even get Ailene in on it? Only time would tell if that was going to be something they'd want to do or not, but it wasn't an idea they were going to just drop. It had potential.
Upon arriving in the city, the Akki made sure to keep up a suitable disguise, one they'd grown rather fond of keeping up; that of Orobas Price. It was the body they simply felt most comfortable in. Most like themselves. It was something they'd enjoyed maintaining over the last few decades, and a body they simply weren't going to just get rid of. Perhaps a more suitable choice was to come somewhere down the line? Only time would really tell. In the end, there was just too much room for the unpredictable to really make that judgement at the time. Though, this was the perfect opportunity to see what kind of new body the Akki could've gotten.
Sitting down on a bench in Central Park, Orobas simply took the time to watch the various people bustle about, and make their way through the area. It seemed that their own regenerative abilities coupled with their sensory capabilities was slowly working to restore their sight, after countless years of having to deal with that awful, awful blindness. Sure, they couldn't even hope to begin to make anything out, but it was progress nonetheless. Progress they were glad was starting to go somewhere. Nonetheless, Orobas simply sat by, and took the time to watch anyone and everyone that came within a decent vicinity to them; predominantly, to hunt for a suitable form.
Hours had passed, and unfortunately nothing had really come of the time they'd spent doing so. Day was starting to turn to afternoon, and time had been steadily passing without any real show of results. While sure, they were definitely more patient than most others, that patience eventually grew thin. Standing up with a soft sigh, Orobas began to walk out of the massive park, and ponder on just what to do about their little problem. It seemed as though everyone in the area wasn't anything more special than that of a normal human. There seemed to be so few spiritual beings here that it almost seemed not worth the hassle of coming here to begin with.
Well, that was a problem that was very easily corrected. Surprisingly enough, there stood one type of body that even Orobas was surprised they hadn't managed to obtain yet; that of a Shinigami. Perhaps it was because those that they did encounter seemed to elude their capture (namely that Vice Captain they'd encountered not too far back, what was her name? Celeste?), or perhaps it was simply due to their own hubris that prevented them from starting off with a Shinigami body from the get-go. Either way, it was something they needed to get on as quickly as they could, and this presented the perfect opportunity to do so.
Making their way into a more densely-populated area of the city, Orobas simply let out a sigh as they slowly placed their palms together. Those walking around the Akki seemed to stare in confusion, while those a fair bit away seemed to give little notice to just what was going on. Even within just twenty feet of the Akki, there had to have been upwards of thirty or so people walking around them at all times. This was perfect. Making sure they stood completely still, Orobas began to speak the key words for a spell they'd grown to enjoy quite a bit.
"It will descend, it will abscend, it will up-end. The end is coming, the word has fallen, the night has laid its toll. The clock spells midnight and the doom spells time, and the end will soon arrive. Worry not, little pigeon. Worry not, my minx, or my slave, or my wife, or my children. Worry not at all. You will not hear it coming. None of you will hear a thing."
Almost immediately after they finished speaking, severe winds began to whip up around them, coating a twenty-foot radius around them with severe gusts, easily strong enough to damage buildings; more than enough to end lives directly next to them, and to cause a panic to those outside of the area. For fifteen seconds, as these winds raged and decimated everything nearby, the Akki did not move. They stood completely still, and let the spell do its work around them, eventually ending with a blast of wind outward from where they were, sending everything that was in the area flying outward at tremendous speeds, and clearing the area of relatively all debris. From there, it was simply a matter of playing the waiting game.
Holding their left palm to the ground, Orobas allowed a singular tentacle-like appendage to flow from their upper back and to the ground beneath them. Using their right hand, they quickly ripped the appendage out from their back, and allowed it to fold around itself, forming a sort of makeshift cane from their own body. Resting against the cane, they simply closed their eyes, and focused their sensory abilities on the area around them, waiting for something; anything to try to approach them. The very moment they felt a foreign signature - one they quickly identified as a Shinigami - Orobas immediately allowed their reiatsu to flare around them. They wanted to be seen. The goal was to be found from the very beginning, and they made absolutely no effort to try to stop this.
Within a matter of seconds, the foreign signature was upon them. Arriving about thirty or so feet in front of the Akki, stood a Shinigami. Drawing her blade and pointing it straight at Orobas, the girl decided to speak. "I need not know who you are, demon," she said, speaking with a slight tone of hatred in her voice, "but I will tell you that for the damage you've just caused, and the lives you've taken here today, you won't be walking away from this unscathed. As a seated member of the Tenth Squad of the Gotei 3, I, Fujikawa Setsuko, will personally put a stop to you."
Letting out a deep sigh, Orobas let a smirk rise to their face. "Do you know just how many times I've heard those same speeches? How many times I've heard the 'I'm going to beat you' and the 'you won't win'? Far too many to count. If you'd like to try, you're more than welcome to. Just know that if you choose not to back down, there will be no option to escape. I'll give you this one act of mercy. Decline, and, well, I'm sure you can assume just what will happen next."
The girl's grip around her sword tightened. "I wouldn't dream of backing down here. Not now, not ever! I wouldn't have joined Gotei if I was not willing to put my life on the line for what's right!" As the girl took up a defensive posture, Orobas took the time to notice the shift in energy around where she was. Thanks to their sensory abilities, they picked up immediately on the girl's stance as her reiatsu almost caked over her actual body, giving the Akki insight as to how she stood. One glance at the girl immediately alerted them that she was a martial specialist; their stance had been similar to that Shinigami they'd encountered a while back; almost identical, even. This girl was a close-ranged fighter, and likely a practitioner of the Shinigami martial art, Hakuda. Oh, how they were looking forward to this fight.
