Lawrence groaned to himself as he got out of bed. "Why on earth did I agree to this? I get that I don't have any time to myself but going to the equivalent of a spiritual groups "Alcoholics Anonymous" meeting is really scraping the bottom of the barrel. I can't even begin to imagine how this will help me on my path to ascension or at a minimum immortality. If anything this is a complete waste of time." At his grumbling Lawrence heard a deep chuckle from within his head. Comforting though it was to hear said voice in this case it enjoying his frustrated grumblings wasn't helpful.
"My dear fledging, you don't understand because you narrow your mind to the immediate and direct. What you seek to gain from this meeting is not a direct source of power or a measurable increase in strength. It's to exist in the minds of others. TO be given an opportuntity to compell them to your side. And to give you a reason to socialize. A god is not a god without followers. And though your subordinates will follow you, who else will if you simply continue to hide away in the Silbern? Even you must understand that your influence, if any, there is minimal at best."
Lawrence sat on his bed's edge groaning internally. A couple deep breaths later, a moment to let himself fully wake up, and the small promise of coffee and the tiaramisu he'd put in the fridge earlier for breakfast and he was willing to calm down. As he started dressing himself in his typical cream colored turtleneck, white pants, and tan penny loafers he did consider his gods words. In truth they weren't wrong persay. Even amongst the vandenriech Lawrence had lowered into obscurity despite his attempts to do just the opposite. However his need to not be "noticed" by those higher in the chain did tend to make it hard to gain rank and prestige. And though his direct subordinates were damn near zealous, they still held faith more towards the emperor than him. Something that irked him more and more each passing day.
He really did need to get out of the Silbern more often. Stop hiding in the shadows and do something that actually got him and his division more achievements. Their time as training division really didn't give anyone anything to work with. And it showed in the lack of any progress both for his personal power and his plans against the emperor. His eyes narrows as he turned on the teapot to boil water. "I've turned into a pawn yet again. Damnit. If I'm not careful I'll descend back into losing my self control to him again. He sighed to himself as he pulled out the dessert from his fridge looking it over with a small smile. At least his morning wouldn't be ruined so small victories there.
Placing the sweet treat on one of his fancier dining plates he finally took the time to respond to his god. "Fine you have a point. Perhaps I am being too narrow-minded. I need to leave the Silbern more often and from there I need establish myself more outside it. If I can do that I just might start to make more progress towards my goals. . . So I'll go to the meeting. I won't lie however I do hope it will be short. I'd prefer to go to a coffee shop next to a bookstore or library."
His god chuckled but otherwise remained silent as he proceeded to make his coffee and eventually finally sit down to eat his "breakfast". The next few minutes was sheer sugary bliss with a comfortable silence in his personal residence. With no one coming to task him today given he'd been told to take a day off he could fully savor the relaxing atmosphere. However when he checked his watch he very quickly realized that he was going to be late if he didn't finish up, it was 10:53am and the meeting was at 11am. One burnt tongue, a few curses, and a quick shadow portal later and Lawrence had finally arrived and with a minute to spare. He released a breath he hadn't realized he was holding.
Lawrence had appeared next to a sky scraper building and for a moment Lawrence had sworn he'd had the wrong address. The card he'd recieved had given him the details of where he needed to open the portal to but this seemed a bit. . . much. Surely whoever was hosting the meeting didn't need to spend frivolous amounts of money? He shook his head before walking in and immediately making his way to the concierge. A few minutes later and more than a little surprise showing on his face Lawrence was riding an elevator up to the very top floor. Apparently whoever was hosting the meeting had reserved the rooftop which was something of a bar mixed with a lounge. Nothing about this felt right, if anything it was too much for such a bland "meet and greet" meeting. I know the woman told me so three times already but . . . this is ridiculous. Of all the places and of all the people to get together they wanted to do it on a rooftop AND reserved the entire damn thing? I'm already growing more suspicious of this than I was about that "fake" vandenriech. And that's saying something given she'd managed to pull out a bankai from scenic nowhere.
As Lawrence exited the elevator his god finally deemed it time to speak to him. Lawrence, calm yourself. Grab a drink, relax. I can assure you there is no harm to come to you here. Besides in a short time there will be more than just you residing here for the duration of the meeting. You need to put on your best face lest you "scare" them hehe. If nothing else comes out of this, you've at least gotten to live the a more luxurious life than you've got currently. That is more than worthwhile given your current. . "career" should we say?"
Lawrence wanted to keep asking questions. He had too many in fact. And apparently he was the first one to arrive at that. Aside from the various workers who peaked their head in or the bartender at the center of the rooftop. He wasn't ok with it but he wasn't going to argue. Instead he was going to order something and just try to let "this", whatever it was happen. Hopefully by the time another showed up he'd be calmer and infinitely less tense.
OOC: SO WELCOME ONE AND ALL TO MY RANDOM THREAD IDEA. Effectively what it boils down to is a sort of social / fun / shenanigans thread where each player uses an old character, dead/retired/etc, that isn't active and just has a ball in what is effectively a spiritual "Meet and greet". Since this is just a fun thread feel free to do whatever but try to keep any fighting minimal initially. We can work our way into it once we get a cast of misfits haha! Also there's no particular posting order just whenever the mood hits ya feel free to post.
Also for reference here's the rooftop:
Also for the record this building is something between a sky scrapper and a high rise building. It's tall. It's fancy enough, and there's definitely more floors to it that can be explored or "exist" upon a whim. Exploration can definitely be done once we get a few peeps.
