Plot Premise: There has always been a level of superstition associated with Japan, but none so prevalent as the location Aokigahara, the Suicide Forest. Classifed under the Shinigami Data Files as location S.A.E [Special Area Environment] 0-13, it has been an area of observation over many generations. However, as of recent, reports would file in to each of the major spiritual organizations including those in the world of the living of an odd phenomena that has begun affecting the area as of recent.
A Shinigami had come from the third division, a reconnaissance agent stationed in the area. He reports that the spiritual pressure around Aokigahara has become so incredibly dense and thick that it has become impossible to utilize the airground technique without using its more advanced variant. In addition, an odd phenomena has occurred where Hollows within the area have become visible to normal humans and have began displaying erratically odd behavior. They have seemingly become more "docile" if such could even be noted, and with it, reports from intelligence display a large amount of energy seemingly built in this place. However, even sensors struggle to decipher what the source is or where the energy is even coming from.
In addition, report has been noted that humans that happen to leave Aokigahara alive after these incidences have begun to display odd behaviors themselves, which would later be realized to display spiritual awareness. For some, it seems to become a development of spiritual powers and abilities akin to Fullbringers. However, for others, instead, it seems to instead drive them into a state of psychopathy. A number of these humans have been detained and kept for analysis and study by Division Twelve in the world of the living in their own personal research facilities.
The spiritual anomaly of this location is incredibly unknown, but it has become clear that attempting to utilize Senkaimon, Garganta, or even the Shadows within this general forest has become impossible, causing a sort of imbalance in the stabilization of the fields, causing it to distort and either shatter, and or cause a violent explosion. This was noted in the case of a Quincy extermination unit sent to destroy Hollows in the general vicinity, only to find a violent blast which has killed three Quincy privates, and injuring half a dozen more.
Each organization that investigates stands to learn and gain insight on the situation, and each research division of each group has gained knowledge unique to their faction. The overall goal is simple. A field exploration. Discover the anomalous properties in greater details, whatever possible, and return whatever information is possible. It has been generally advised not to investigate deeper into the forest until base information has been gained. There has also been given another specific instruction.
Do not remain in the forest after dark.
Mixed reports would have people believe, more specifically Quincy or Arrancar that there may be a powerful Hollow, Arrancar, or oddly enough Quincy entity that may be in this area. However, such is ill confirmed.
