Character Name: Celes Shindazu
Old Powers:
New Powers: Shikai Overall
Arms of War - Celes uses a spear and shield as her Zanpakutou when in Shikai. This spear is a 5 ft long spear that allows for Celes to attack from a decent range. As it is a spear, it does not cut well, but instead aims to pierce and skewer anything in its wake. The shield is a traditional Aspis as used by the Spartans. The shield itself is 30 inches in diameter or 2'6" making it an excellent defensive tool since Celes is able to effectively hide behind her shield whenever necesarry. The spear has an OS equal to Celes'. Meanwhile, the shield has a defensive durability equal to her OS, allowing Celes to shrug off weaker attacks. Additionally, Celes can use her shield to slam it into people within range. This shield slam, however, is only equal to 1/2 of her OS. It is a shield primarily meant for defensive purposes.
Disciple of War - As her Shikai represents the brutality and ferocity of Ares during warfare, Celes is rewarded by the spirit of Ares for her endless bloodthirst, tenacity and persistence. In Shikai, Celes can accumulate an alternative resource known as Marks of War. Upon entering release, Celes immediately receives 10 Marks of War to use. These marks can be used to increase the potency of her Shikai techniques in a variety of ways. These are explained individually in each technique. Celes can only ever accumulate a max of 10 Marks of War. To accumulate more Marks of War, Celes has to perform or be subject to an "aggressive action". An aggressive action refers to any combative action which results in a hit by Celes' Zanpakutou, a physical clash involving release weapons or being physically wounded by her opponent. This can include instances such as Celes' drawing blood, being cut by her opponent, slamming her shield into an opponent, her and her opponents' release weapon(s) clashing via physical contact. Any time Celes is the victim or source of an aggressive action, she will gain 1 Mark of War that post. Celes can only ever gain 1 Mark of War a post. The spirit of Ares, however punishes a stagnant battlefield and Celes will incur consequences for no execution nor receival of aggressive actions. If no aggressive action is peformed nor received, Celes will not gain a Mark of War that post. After 2 posts of no aggressive actions, Celes will lose half of her current Marks of War rounded down. I.E if she was at 6, she would after 2 posts be at 3. After 3 posts, she loses all current Marks of War and needs to accumulate them from scratch once more. Celes can also only use one spending property at a time for a single technique. I.E, she can't spend 1-4 Marks and then 5 Marks to invoke both effects for Bound by Chains.
Shikai Techniques
Technique Name: Shield of Olympus
Technique Type: [Physical]
Usable By: Shinigami
Technique Element: [None]
Technique Description and Effects: Blessed with the strength and agility of the Spartans, Shield of Olympus is a supreme display of ruthlessness and brutality. Spinning once in a circle, Celes slams any poor and unfortunate victim with her mighty shield. The target in question feels a ripple run through their entire body causing extreme discomfort if the slam alone was not dazing enough. This slam is equal to her OS. This is not the end of it, however. The brutality of the slam echoes a small shockwave behind its target. As the ripple rips through the opponents' body, it also creates a 10 ft conal shockwave behind the target which effectively hits anything in a 10 ft arc behind her original target with a shockwave equal to her OS. The speed of this technique and the corresponding shockwave is equal to her speed. This means that the spin which leads into a slam moves equal to her speed and the shockwave radiates out from the target equal to her speed.
3 Marks of War - If Celes spends 3 Marks of War while initiating this technique, the OS of this technique and corresponding shockwave is increased by 50% I.E If Celes has 1000 OS, the slam and shockwave hit with 1500 OS.
6 Marks of War - If Celes spends 6 Marks of War while initiating this technique, this technique gains an OS boost of 2x for the purposes of overcoming defensive techniques such as Blut and Hierro. In fact, if Celes' modified OS exceeds the defensive durability of techniques like Hierro and Blut, the technique not only become shattered by Shield of Olympus, but also becomes unusable for 2 posts. For example, if Celes hits an opponent with Hierro and her 2x OS beats the OS for the Hierro, not only does she break the Hierro, but the target cannot reactivate their Hierro for 2 posts.
Technique Drawbacks: Despite the brutality of this technique, there are a number of drawbacks to the technique. First and foremost, it is rather committal. Once Celes begins the spin, she has to follow all the way through. This means that if the hit is blocked, dodged or resisted, it opens up Celes for counterattack. Additionally, for the technique to even work, Celes has to hit an initial target. While this could include a wall, if Celes does not hit a target, this technique does not work. Additionally, when Celes sacrifices Marks of War to utilize the technique, they will be spent no matter if the technique itself is blocked, resisted or dodged. Even when spending 6 Marks of War, the 2x bonus is only for overcoming defensive techniques. If the opponent is not using a defensive technique such as Hierro, Shield of Olympus will strike with its base OS. Finally, using Shield of Olympus successfully or not incurs an internal cooldown of 2 posts before it can be used again.

Technique Name: Bound by Chains
Technique Type: [Physical]
Usable By: Shinigami
Technique Element: [None]
Technique Description and Effects: Bound by Chains represents the aftermath of war. The anguish that follows in every opponent once they lose their will to fight and are quite literally bound by chains. To use this technique Celes needs to make contact with her opponent. This can be with her release weapon or Celes physically touching her opponent, just as long as there is some contact between herself and her opponent. Once this occurs, Celes spends a portion of her own strength to manifest chains on the opponents' body. The ratio is 1:5 to determine the durability of these chains. If Celes spends 100 strength to manifest these chains have a durability of 500. The chains upon creation spread around the victims entire body and leave them helpless and at the mercy of the user. These chains also respond to resistance. The chains punish those that refuse to submit. If force is applied to the chains that does not outright break then, the chains tighten and the victim suffers a loss of breath that becomes worse as more resistance is given. The durability of the chains can only be increased to a max of 1.5x Celes OS. If Celes has a Strength of 1000, she can only make the chains have a maximum durability of 1500 and it requires her to give up 300 strength which effectively temporarily sets her Strength to 700.
1 - 4 Marks of War - Spending 1 to 4 Marks of War allows Celes to substitute part of the strength she would be sacrificing into the chains. Each Mark of War spent increased the OS of the chains by 25% of Celes' OS. For example, if Celes spends 3 marks and has 1000 strength, the OS of the chains would be 750. Celes can donate her own strength just like normally to increase the remaining OS to a maximum of 1.5x her OS.
5 Marks of War - Spending 5 Marks of War does not allow Celes to substitute her strength sealing with Marks, but instead performs something much more sinister. The chains are intended to cause its victim to lose hope and any chance of escape. If this property is invoked by spending 5 Marks, the victim becomes incapable of using reiatsu while they are bound. Much like Kurapika in Hunter x Hunter with his chain prison which enforces Zetsu, Celes' Bound in Chains will prevent the usage of reiatsu for as long as the victim is bound. To clarify, if the OS of the victim is RS or SpPr, they can still break the chains if it exceeds the OS of the chains. The inability to use reiatsu is intended to stop the victim from using techniques to "phase" or otherwise easily escape from the chains if they do not meet the appropriate OS requirement.
Technique Drawbacks: Bound by Chains while a terrifying ability does have a number of drawbacks. First and foremost is the strength sealing requirement. These chains are not purely spiritual chains. They are spiritual links made up of Celes' own strength. Since she is sacrificing strength to form these chains, she is also bulking down her physical ability. If this strength sealing would cause Celes to drop below strength thresholds, she cannot use those abilities associated with strength until she regains it. I.E if Celes dropped below 600 strength due to this technique, she could no longer generate shockwaves until her strength returns to 600 or above. If the chains were to be broken, Celes' does not immediately regain the sealed strength. Instead, she regains the sealed strength after 2 posts. A superior OS or Class Superiority to Celes will serve to immediately break the chains with minimal effort. However, 2 posts of continuous struggles can also break the chain. The victim will feel the chains tighten, but can ignore it with enough mental fortitude. After breaking free due to the struggling, the victim will need to rest for one post due to loss of breath.
Bankai Overall
Blessing of Athena - Celes' Bankai grants her a full set of traditional Spartan armor fit for a woman. The durability of the spartan armor is equal to Celes OS. Much like her shield which has impressive defensive capability, this armor is also able to easily shrug off weaker attacks. Even though the armor is the manifestation of Celes' Bankai, she still retains the spear and shield as weapons for her to use. Additionally, as the armor is her Bankai, hitting opponents with hand-to-hand or kicks will not incur cutback as her Bankai makes sure to protect her extremities from the effects of cutback.
Envoy of Wisdom - Much like Disciple of War, this is a passive that allows Celes to accumulate another resource known as Symbols of Peace. Much like before, Celes still accumulates Marks of War just as she did in her Shikai. There is no change to the way she accumulates Marks of War and the way she loses them. However, when spending Marks of War, Celes gains a corresponding amount of Symbol of Peace. I.E if Celes spends 3 Marks, she gains 3 Symbols. Much like Marks of War, she can spend these symbols to augment her techniques, but Symbols only augment her Bankai techniques just as Marks only augment her Shikai techniques. Unlike Marks of War, Symbols of Peace do not decay and remain until Celes leaves Bankai or until they are used. It should be noted that Symbols of Peace cannot exceed 10. If spending Marks of War would grant Symbols above 10, Celes gains enough to hit 10 and then nothing more. I.E If Celes has 8 Symbols of Peace and spends 3 Marks of War, she only receives 2 Symbols of Peace as 10 is her hard cap.
Bankai Techniques
Technique Name: Aegis Assault
Technique Type: [Physical]
Usable By: Shinigami
Technique Element: [None]
Technique Description and Effects: As a vanguard of the weak blessed by Athena, Celes is able to create a wide frontal shield that serves to protect Celes and offer respite to those under her care. Simultaneously, Celes is able to rapidly retaliate against any opposition that dares cross close to her defense. Using her shield as the central conduit, Celes is able to create a physical barrier in front of her by bending her knees and raising her shield. This barrier is 20 ft in width and 10 ft in height with Celes as the bottom center. While erecting this formidable defense, Celes can also rapidly execute numerous thrusts with her spear that are able to penetrate the shield. These spear strikes are numerous and relentless, striking with her OS with a speed equal to Celes'. Over the course of a post, Celes can unleash 25 spear strikes. She can at maximum, keep this aegis up for 2 posts which equate to 50 strikes with her spear in a short amount of time. This barrier only clashes with physical techniques.
4 Symbols of Peace - By spending 4 Symbols of Peace, Celes loses the ability to move while this technique is active, but with it, she gains incredible fortitude. By activating this property, Celes drops to one knee and is only able to maintain the Aegis for one post instead of 2. She also loses the ability to retaliate with rapid spear strikes. Instead, any attack that is physical or reiatsu-based will clash against this barrier if it hits. For the purposes of clashing, Celes' barrier will have an OS of 2x making it an extremely powerful, but immobile defensive tool.
Technique Drawbacks: Despite the useful defense of this powerful technique, it carries with it a few concerning drawbacks. First of all, the spear strikes that Celes can execute are very tiring. She can keep the rapid strikes up for 1 post pretty consistently, but if she decides to initiate the next set of spear strikes, Celes will find herself drained of stamina rather quickly. In fact, if Celes maintains the barrier for the full 2 posts, she will require one post of rest. As this barrier is a physical barrier erected by Celes' iron will and strength, it rapidly drains her stamina while using it even while not executing spear strikes. Additionally, outside of using the amplified variant, Celes can only block attacks from the front and even then, only physical attacks. Additionally, she moves at half her normal speed while this barrier is erected. While using the regular version of Aegis Assault, she can still rotate in a circle at half of her speed.
Technique Name: Last Stand of Athens
Technique Type: [Physical]
Usable By: Shinigami
Technique Element: [None]
Technique Description and Effects: Last Stand of Athens is the pinnacle of Celes' defensive fighting style while in Bankai and comes with a heavy cost for extreme fortitude. Upon activating this technique, Celes immediately spends all her Symbols of Peace. This will determine the number of posts that Last Stand is active. For the duration, Celes suffers no stamina drain. She also gains 1 point in Calm Mind every post that Last Stand is active up to a maximum of 3 points. The default duration of this technique is 1 post, but Celes can increase it up to up to 4 posts for every 3 Symbols of Peace that are consumed upon using Last Stand. Additionally, for the duration, Celes' Bankai armor and shield durability are 2x her OS. This turns her into an absolute tank as she powers through fatigue while being fueled by the calm spirit of Athena.
All Current Symbols of Peace - For every 3 Symbols that Celes consumed upon activation of Last Stand, the duration goes up by 1 post up to a maximum of 4 posts. This means that for every post that Celes in using this technique, she gains 1 point of Calm Mind. Symbols of Peace are solely dedicated to determining how long she is able to use this technique.
Technique Drawbacks: Last Stand is a pinnacle of defensive power, but with this great endurance and unrivaled fortitude come nearly fatal drawbacks. First, this technique requires Celes to expend 300 of her reiatsu to initiate this technique on top of the Symbols cost. Last Stand only lasts as many posts as Celes is able to spend the appropriate amount of Symbols of Peace. This means that at it may require setup by spending Marks of War. Additionally, Celes despite mitigating any stamina drain during the usage of Final Stand will feel the full effects of the stamina drain that she accumulated across the duration all at once. At higher levels of exhaustion, this could potentially kill Celes. It will at minimum leave her in agonizing pain and near death. Finally, due to the extreme overclocking of her bodily functions, Celes upon finishing Last Stand will immediately leave Bankai and will be in no position to fight at all.

IC Reasoning for Power CIU: Soul Inmate [Bankai Training] - This thread involved Celes learning the secret of her Bankai. While fighting Yunorashi across every stage of their release, the Shinigami ended up earning her Bankai by accepting Yunorashi as her companion in battle. Yunorashi went on to explain that if Shikai is the manifestation Ares, then the Bankai represents Athena. This helped Celes truly realize both her Bankai and her Shikai since each now represents the differing sides of warfare. You could view her power as incomplete as she didn't have her Bankai to counterbalance the power of her Shikai. Earning her Bankai helped her Shikai realize its full potential.
OOC Reasoning for Power CIU: When I originally redid Celes' power, I wanted to focus on two sides of war in the Greek Pantheon. These were Ares and Athena. I wanted Celes' Shikai to represent Ares fighting spirit along with the brutality of War while Celes' Bankai represents Athena's guidance and with it, a far more defensive style. After retooling her kit with this CIU, I feel that she is in a better position to demonstrate the opposing philosophies of war.
What kind of update: Power CIU
Current Rank: Squad 10 Vice Captain - Rank 2
New Rank: N/A
Old Powers:
{Shikai Overall}As a disciple of Aries, Celes uses the weapons that the ancient Spartans did in their days of conquest. In her Shikai, Celes wields a spear and a shield. The spear is 5 ft in length while her shield has a diameter of 30 inches or 2'6". This makes the shield sizeable enough to wield with the spear, but large enough to block most strikes coming her way. Additionally, Celes' weapons are based off of her OS stat and as such the Spear as an OS equal to hers while the shield has a defensive durability equal to her OS and a blunt striking OS of 1/2 to hers. Celes has the blessing of great maneuverability despite what she has to work with due to the knowledge she receives from the gods. This helps her implicitly understand battle tactics involving the two weapons along with usage and movement while using them.
{Shikai Techniques}Technique Name: Flurry of Spears
Technique Type: [Physical]
Usable By: Shinigami
Technique Element: [None]
Technique Description and Effects: Celes begins by taking a backward leaning stance where she brings her shield forward and her spear arm behind it. While assuming this stance, she can only move a max of 150 speed. Once prepared, Celes leans forward and unleashes a flurry of spear strikes at a speed of 600 right in front of her. These spear strikes each strike with her OS and strike so fast that it almost appears that multiple sets of them strike at once. Flurry of Spears has the potential to leave opponents with numerous wounds and impalements. This flurry occurs in a 5ft cone in front of her. and consists of a set of 25 spear strikes.
Technique Drawbacks: Flurry of Spears comes with a few weaknesses. The technique while not demanding reiatsu is incredibly taxing on Celes' stamina. Using this technique applies a stamina drain to her equivalent to 3 posts of moving at 400 speed. Naturally this primarily applied to her upper body. This technique also demands that Celes remain stationary and it only strikes right in front of her as she cannot turn while it is being used. This allows fast opponents or ranged opponents to outmaneuver

Technique Drawbacks: Bound by Chains while a terrifying ability does have a number of drawbacks. First is the strength sealing requirement. When Celes spends this strength to manifest the chains it is lost until the technique has finished. Once the chains are broken, Celes does not regain the strength she uses to create the chains until 2 posts have passed. The chains can also be immediately broken by an OS equal to or surpassing Celes. The tightening effect of the chains does become worse, but will never kill its victim. A Class Superiority will also serve the victim for breaking the chains. There is one more option. If the victim has a lower strength than the user, they can break the chains by applying a 2 posts worth of force dedicated specifically to breaking these chains. The catch is that the victim still suffers the chain tightening which once the chains are broken, will require a post of rest to recover.

{Bankai Overall}Athena, Goddess of Wisdom, while able to engage in warfare believes in protecting each one of her pupils so they may continue to fight another day. To this end, Athena bestows an armor upon Celes as part of her Bankai release. This armor being forged by the gods has incredible durability that allows Celes to shrug off blows easier. This durability matches her OS. Additionally, wearing the armor bestows unique benefits to Celes' weapons which become renamed to Spear of Achilles and Athena's Aegis for the spear and shield respectively. The weapons represent the heroes that Athena helped in their adventures.
Spear of Achilles: Celes is granted use of the legendary spear that Achilles wielded in his life. The spear itself utilizes a weakness of Achilles. Achilles only had a single weak point which was his heel. Celes uses a similar concept. When the blade of the spear comes into contact with a point on the person's body, a mark forms on their body similar to Suì-Fēng Shikai release. The mark looks similar to the lambda symbol of Sparta encased in a circle similar to the symbol of Celes' shield. This mark has a radius of 3 inches appearing on the body part that got hit. The mark remains for 2 posts and an opponent can have a maximum of 3 marks. If the mark is hit a second time by the spear, Celes' OS is treated as 2x with that single hit effectively encouraging accuracy.
Athena's Aegis: In mythology, Athena granted Perseus an Aegis in polished to a mirror-like finish. The aegis refracts the faintest light, but overall has the same appearance. The shield gains the unique property to split an attack halfway, effectively protecting Celes techniques that would burn her to a crisp. For this to work, Celes needs to facing an oncoming projectile energy attack. Some examples include Cero and Hado. Any reiatsu/energy-based projectile that hits Celes' shield will be treated at half its OS. If Celes' Shield impacts against a technique with an OS of 1000, it will be treated as 500. If the new OS is lower than Celes' the technique splits as it hits the shield, shooting out towards the sides as Celes is left safe and sound. Athena's Aegis is able to protect her from superior OS techniques, although if it is higher than her OS still after the reduction, Celes will not be completely safe as she still gets hit by the technique albeit weaker. Athena's Aegis can never defend against a skill with Class Superiority and will in fact completely overpower her shield, causing her to be knocked back and take the full force of the technique.
Spear of Achilles: Celes is granted use of the legendary spear that Achilles wielded in his life. The spear itself utilizes a weakness of Achilles. Achilles only had a single weak point which was his heel. Celes uses a similar concept. {Bankai Techs}Technique Name: Decisive Strike
Technique Type: [Physical]
Usable By: Shinigami
Technique Element: [None]
Technique Description and Effects: Decisive Strike represents the battle tactics that Celes is blessed with by following Athena. It is a defensive utility skill and counter-attack in one package. To start with, Celes initiates this technique similar to a step technique. She moves and can activate Decisive Strike with allows for the first instance of the ability to be used. Celes moves at her maximum speed in any of the 8 compass directions. The distance of this ability is short, encouraging infighting and it appears much more similar to Force Speed than a traditional Shunpo. Once using the step portion of Decisive Strike, she may choose to use one of two counterattacks.
The first of these counterattacks is a quick thrust that Celes can use right after stepping with it. This quick jab strikes with a force equal to Celes 1/2 OS and travels at a speed equal to the one she stepped at. Additionally, if she opts for this, Celes can utilize this technique a second time and jab a second time. If she chooses not to jab with the technique, Celes can opt for the 2nd counter attack. The second is a powerful thrust that strikes with a force equal to Celes OS, but moves at half the speed that Celes stepped at. If Celes chooses the thrust counterattack, she cannot step with this technique a second time. For example, if Celes has 1000 speed, the step occurs at 1000 Speed. The first counter attack moves at a speed of 1000, but the heavy thrust would move at a speed of 500.
Decisive Strike has one more effect if the heavy thrust is chosen. If Celes hits with it, she initiates a clash with the opponent. Celes OS vs. their OS. If Celes wins the clash, she not only impales, but runs the target through. This is accompanied by any damage towards the affected organs that she may have hit.
Technique Drawbacks: Decisive Strike suffers from a number of drawbacks. First and foremost, the technique travels in a linear fashion. Once she commits to a direction, she can't back out either. Additionally, Celes' Heavy Thrust cannot impale targets that have a superior OS to its strike. If Celes has 1000 OS and uses the strike on an opponent who has 1001 OS, it will not impale them. Additionally, a Class Superiority will also completely negate the impalement. Finally this technique is incredibly taxing on the user. In fact, Celes suffers a stamina drain twice the speed that she moved at.

Technique Name: Shield of Olympus
Technique Type: [Physical]
Usable By: Shinigami
Technique Element: [None]
Technique Description and Effects: Shield of Olympus is an incredible display of physical strength and speed. Celes hops into the air and while spinning, slams her shield into her opponent at a speed 1000. Whatever the shield strikes has a ripple of equal to 2x Celes' OS sent throughout their body. The strike itself is so powerful that it also sends out a shockwave in a 10ft cone. This shockwave is equal to Celes OS outward, hitting everything behind her initial target behind in a cone. The ripple devastating, effectively shattering any Hierro like shell.
Technique Drawbacks: Shield of Olympus suffers from a number of weaknesses. First, the leap that leads into the slam is a prime time to strike Celes. While airbone like this, she commits fully which makes it nigh impossible to retreat out of. Additionally, the combination of speed and power puts a tremendous strain on Celes. After successfully using this technique, she cannot use it again until 5 posts have passed. Finally, the technique only works if Celes hits an initial target. It will do nothing of she hits air.
