A Recurring Nightmare (DP-All Races-Medium)

[Kuro Adachihara]

Kuro turned quickly as he heard the scream of an individual, a man. He was clearly being pulled by a person backwards and being.... bitten? That was certainly an odd occurrence as humans didn't bite eachother unless they were the ones being attacked, most often anyway. And it certainly seemed tied to this set of circumstances. Kuro headed down the alleyway with speed, the need for his presence in the situation obvious at this point. As he dashed, his black robes flowed in the air around his feet, clad in his white socks and straw sandals. Kuro narrowed his eyes, focusing on his surroundings as he headed to go around the corner.

Once on the other alley of this corner end of the alleyway, Kuro would move to attack the human restraining the man and biting him. He would do this with a swift and powerful stab with his zanpakutou in his right hand. He knew that humans were spiritually weak, normally at least, and they would also normally not be able to perceive him. He also knew that this would confirm his suspicions if the human reacted to his stabbing motion, whether or not they had gained a spiritual awareness to dodge him in time. Even so, he doubted that such a feat would be possible for this thing, even if it were no longer the average human. The ability to both perceive and dodge his attack would be difficult with him just coming around the corner.

If his strike succeeded and finished the job, Kuro would, while still holding his blade, assess the person who had been bitten. He'd seen many zombies movies as of late and knew that it would not be totally outside the realm of possibility. Everything had a chance of happening in this world, and he would not let it sneak up on him like the girl he had seen in the movie, Amy. He remembered shouting at her not to go into the kitchen, the humans being saved from his cries of fear by the fact he was not in a gigai at the time so he could avoid paying to view the film. Still, the point remained. If it could happen in a movie, it was not impossible to happen here. And this man could most certainly be infected.

Investigating the apartment of red Raphael wouldn’t find much in terms of clues, but he would start to feel reiatsu radiating from the blood left on the floor. Something very odd that didn’t make a ton of sense, it was almost like the blood on the ground was still inside whoever the victim was, but also spiritual in nature. He was fairly correct in his assumption that once the officer had been bit through his collar bone that saving him from that injury alone would have taken a skilled medic. Hiding outside of the door ready to attack the first thing that came out was a risky strategy, but the human that had bit the officer had seen Raphael as he had looked inside the room and now knew he was outside. Rushing out the door in a full sprint the assailant with blood covering the majority of his figure now went right past Raphael by several feet not expecting him to be right outside. If Raphael didn’t attack right away this guy was going to notice him and charge attempting to slam Raphael against the wall and start biting at his face.

As for outside in the streets Luca was using his knowledge to weight the situation better than most had even in the past. Attacking the human that was on top of the woman with a kill move right away. This was something new though, Luca likely wouldn’t have any knowledge of the last attack in any real detail. Something that was horrible for this situation. Just now the assailant had died the moment the spear pierced through his head like anything natural. Last time the head was the worst place to attack and never brought down the infected. It made them go wild, the only way to bring them down was to destroy the limbs, so why was this different? Luca had no issue getting the car to go, but he wasn’t the first time at the scene as the Shinigami Yomi was already there.

Yomi had gotten there while Luca had been dealing with the woman. The stabbing motion that Yomi attempted on the infected that had bit the man currently convulsing in obvious pain stopped on its skin. Yomi would feel resistance against his zanpakuto almost like trying to stab through the heirro of an Arrancar. Letting go of the man and turning the infected stood and rushed Yomi in an instant. He’d have to think fast otherwise he knew what was coming from all his movie experience. Could a Shinigami be infected by this thing though? Little did any of them realize that although they were getting on the right track to stop this thing they’d already missed a couple of infected that were going to start to spread in a moment.

[Raphael Laurent]

The apartment was a horrible wreck, blood everywhere and the man that was biting into the officer, well Raphael had decided to hide around the corner, energy charging. One of the most important things he’d made note of was that the blood on the ground seemed spiritual in nature, as if it was both in the target and a spirit at the same time. That was an incredibly odd occurrence and Raphael wasn’t, exactly, sure what to do with that knowledge, though for the time being he’d have to file it away.

Worse still, he was pretty sure that the officer that had just been horribly bitten was, more or less, screwed. He sighed, as he leaned against the wall beside the door. The guy wouldn’t make it and, worse still, based on what he was seeing, the officer was probably going to get up. At least, he was going to treat it like the stereotypical zombie infection, until he was proven incorrect. He took in a few breaths, trying to steady himself for what he was about to do next, when the man that had been attacking the officer came around the corner, obviously looking for him.

While he was more than prepared to deal with the man as he came around the corner, how quickly he’d done so surprised Raphael. His eyes opened in shock and he suddenly thrust both hands forward, a beam of energy the size of a door firing forward and into the creature. Yet, even as Raphael fired the beam he poured even more power into the beam, using up more energy to try and disintegrate this thing that wanted to attack him. He’d keep this up until it stopped moving or until he forced it through the wall and out of the building with an RS of 487 with enhanced spirit waves.

Moving out from the apartment room to the hallway was a simple thing and one that Rapahel seemed to anticipate. As the infected moved out into the hallway the Fullbringer w3as right there re4ady to attack unleashing a wave of reiatsu directly onto the infected. The strength of his reiatsu was potent enough that a normal individual even of spiritual nature would find themselves blasted apart or disintegrated. The infected though for a moment stayed solid staring at Rapahel through the attack. In that moment Rapahel would be able to see that the infected was looking right at him with no thought to the attack that was currently washing over him as if it were nothing more than a stream of water.

After a moment of time passed though the infected began to scream and would drop to the floor of the hallway. The clothing that covered the infected for the most part was gone now. An important little piece of information would be revealed now to Raphael if he took the moment to look down at the corpse of the infected. Across the torso of this infected were deep lines that ranged in thickness which spread across the chest, moving up towards the face and down towards the legs. These lines though burned bright orange like a hot blade. After several seconds past though the lines would start to waver turning pitch as if cooling down.

What was Raphael going to think about this bit of information? What did it really mean and what was he going to do about the officer that had been bitten inside of the apartment less than a minute ago?

[Shawn Rabuburēdo]

Shawn was making his nightly rounds, recently he was tasked with patrolling Karakura town for two weeks before he was able to return to the Seireitei. After moving around for awhile he seen and heard police sirens not to far in the distance. Taking his time he heads over there, unsure of why he feels like he should but all he knows is that a strange sensation in his gut is telling him to. Reaching about 100 feet from the apartment building the police car was parked at Shawn noticed someone jump from one of the windows and not to long after a second person followed. Even with his poor senses he was able to make out the Shihakusho of a Shinigami, a Shinigami he actually remembers at that, the second person following not to far behind the first was Kuro.

Finally reaching the building he is about to use air-ground in order to get up to the window but not before three separate screams take place nearly simultaneously. Looking over at the two he heard outside he notices that first person dealing with one of the screams and Kuro heading to the other outside scream. Well, better hurry inside to see what this is about, using air-ground to get up to the window while this thought was traveling through his mind. The moment he made it to the window a very bright light came from inside, looking in showed someone just standing there taking what he could only presume to be a spiritual attack head on without flinching, if that wasn't strange enough a few seconds latter the attack seemed to finally have an effect as it began screech before falling to the ground, made crispy from that energy blast. 

Stranger things happened as marking on the persons back began lighting up as if they were searing into the person back, then everything went calm. Taking a second Shawn looked up to see the origin point of that blast, a male standing there with his palms still up. "I'd ask what's happening but something tells me it's nothing good, I assume your a Fullbringer? Haven't meet one of you since I became a full fledge Shinigami only some months back." Listening to any response the man standing in front of him might have Shawn also looks into the apartment room he assumes this person came out of.

Luca looked over at Kuro. He'd killed his target. "So is that all of them?" No, it couldn't be. Things were never this easy for Luca. Still, in the dead of night, Luca's options for searching were limited. Instead, Luca tried to focus his efforts on the woman he'd saved. If his zombie hypothesis was correct, she might be infected. Luca was no medic, but his fullbringer powers afforded him some advantages. He kneeled down beside her, trying to monitor any changes. If she'd fallen unconscious, Luca would use soul command to pull blood from her wounds. This bloodletting may have been unorthodox, but it would allow Luca to isolate the "zombie virus" before it spread to her brain.

Luca would float the blood in the air and focus his senses on it, trying to find a trace of any aberrant qualities such as hollow reiatsu within. If he couldn't save this girl, he could at least gain some insight as to how this was spread.

[Kuro Adachihara]

As Kuro felt his zanpakutou stop at the skin, his eyes would widen and he would immediately jump backwards so as to narrowly dodge the attack of the ‘zombie’ he had attempted to stab through the temple of the left side of the head. It was becoming increasingly and rapidly clear that these were not like the zombies of a horror film and were much more dangerous. Taking on such enemies without a full and proper plan, alone as well, was a mistake to further make. And so, for the first time in a long time, Kuro would shout, “We’ve got more back here, humans! We need to figure something out, I can’t cut them easily!”

As Kuro shouted out his distress call and information, he would take a step forward and attempt once more to cut into this once human and now abomination, transformed into such a dangerous foe that Kuro was definitely feeling the fear. He wasn’t a fully seasoned shinigami, he didn’t have a shikai yet. But he knew that he had to handle this with care and speed at the same time. Letting more humans become consumed to this plague of transformation would only make it even more difficult to handle and as they had not seen the originating source of this plague, they could only handle the puppets until the force behind the madness revealed itself or someone else located it’s location.

Kuro prepared his rush and swing by pulling his arms back so his blade would rest to his lower right, the tip pointing towards behind his body. His left arm would rest across his waist and to the right while his right arm became rigid and straight, pointing slightly backwards as well. This would allow his swing to become a bit more powerful once he brought it back upwards in order to cut the ‘zombie’. Kuro would rush in, aiming to swing upwards once he was within three feet of the ‘zombie’, and attempt to push through the resistance in a full swinging motion. This movement would be an attempt to cleave the body in two, diagonally from the ‘zombie’s’ left hip to right shoulder.

If the attack would work and cut this creature down, Kuro would shout once more, “I had to put my back into it, but this one back here is down! I don’t know how many more there might be!” As Kuro would be cutting this creature he would also be keeping his senses open to the possibility of other creatures rising from the infection. He knew that this creature had just bitten another person and it was most likely that they would also rise to attack him. Kuro’s cold eyes and hearing were focused on detecting movement from both his target and the person whom had been bitten, having the previously mentioned observations and movie knowledge in mind.

Managing to stop the infected was the first step and Luca wasted no time in starting the next s he surveyed the human women that had been being attacked just a moment ago. Thankfully he’d found that the woman hadn’t sustained any wounds from the infected, he’d managed to act fast enough with purpose behind his weapon that he’d saved a life. Unable to find out anything from her though all that would be available to him for the moment would be examining the body of the infected he had just brought down, unless he sought to aid Kuro who began to shout for help.

In the alleyway Kuro had to deal with the infected that had already managed to showcase immunity to being stabbed with a zanpakuto. The infected giving him very little time to act was met with a slash from its left hip up to its right shoulder with much more force this time coming from Kuro. The Shinigami would immediately feel virtually no resistance to his zanpakuto once it made contact with the left hip of the infected, slicing through the flesh just like a normal human. It wouldn’t be until his zanpakuto cut half a foot into the infected that his swing was stopped.

His zanpakuto, unable to cut through any further, was now located above the belly button of the infect , a lethal wound for a normal individual yet this infected would swing its arms wildly attempting to deliver downwards and sideways hammer-like strikes against Kuro’s upper body. Just what was stopping the zanpakuto from going any further?Was Luca going to come help Kuro or did Kuro even need help? What else was going on here and who were just a few of them expected to save this entire city from something like this overnight?

[Shawn Rabuburēdo]

Shawn was really getting a response from the man in front of him, this may be due to the recently fallen body in front of them. Shawn didn't arrive early enough to really see too much, however, he did notice one major thing, these people do not seem to go down easily. Kneeling down he would begin to investigate the body, flipping it over if it was on it's back. Not sure what he was looking for but there must be some kind of clue as to what is happening. The body itself was of course crispy thanks to that last attack from the man beside him, so he was hoping this didn't get rid of anything important.


Shawn would investigate the body for a minute or two before rising up and heading over to the door closest to where the body was, it also happens to be wide open. Shawn wasn't here at the time to know an officer was attacked inside this room so he wasn't expecting to see the uniform of the officer bloodied. Other than the officer he glanced around at the room itself, maybe he would notice something that could be vital? What is going on here, it's like a zombie invasion I keep hearing about that happens in movies.
