Estimated Enemy Strength: Class 3
Estimated Time Until Completion: Few months, probably around 3-4 pages.
Starts: Now.
Special Conditions: Upon reaching the third page of this adventure, through the guidance and teaching of the ability by Ludwig, Camila will be able to use Shikai.
Upon receiving the notice for the mission, Camila sprinted into the Squad 13 Barracks, and straight to her captain. She was effectively out of breath, and panting quite heavily. She held a note out in front of her captain, and gestured for him to grab it while she was busy catching her breath. While he looked over it, she'd be trying to stand up, once again in an effort to regain the breath she had lost from sprinting over to her Captain.
After a few moments, she stood up entirely, and began to speak. "G'morning, Captain! We've - well, more specifically you've - got a mission from the higher-ups! Upon the request, I've been given permission to shadow you for this mission, should you be alright with it! It's a simple search-and-destroy mission on a more violent Quincy outpost eradicating almost every hollow in Chicago, Illinois in the World of the Living. Due to such a large quantity of souls not being placed back into the Soul Cycle, it's your - possibly our - responsibility to put an end to these Quincy! I for one am more than willing to do so!"

Another day another piece of paperwork. Ludwig was doing his usual working at his desk wondering if there could be anything else he needed to do instead. Paperwork was one thing but this shit never stopped and one would think that the squad dedicated to dealing with the Senkimon would have a much more quiet and paperless work schedule. That was very much not the case, especially since it seemed like every day there were a couple hundred people trying to travel through for one reason or another. He leaned back in his chair and sighed to himself listening to the ambient sounds of the other shinigami walking, running or even just chatting with one another outside his office. Paperwork aside it was actually something he would never openly admit he enjoyed simply because of how peaceful it was.
*BAM* Until of course his door had been slammed open. Casting a curious glance to whoever had sprinted into his office he quickly realized Camilla of all people had rushed in. Poor thing looked like she’d just run at least two marathons from how out of breath she was. Yet that didn’t deter her in the slightest from holding out an envelope with which he could only assume were orders for a specific task. There was a look in her eye though that held a great deal more determination than he’d last seen in her from their prior meeting which felt like ages ago. As he took the envelope he gestured to the one of the chairs for her. “You look like you could use a rest, please take a seat while I read this over.”
He was about to start reading the orders but it was at that point Camilla decided to speak up and give the full order from what he could only assume were Central. He gave her his full attention as he listened, nodding some at the end before he glanced over the orders for himself. Orders to Chicago? That’s a major city in the US... The bigger concern for Ludwig wasn’t even that hollows were being destroyed, it was that there was enough of a threat by the hollows that the quincy determined that they needed to respond so violently. It seemed that there was enough collateral damage because of their near constant fights that even the humans were beginning to realize there might be more to these events than meets the eye. He could see why Central decided that a captain should look into the matter. Someone needed to be sent but it needed someone that had some experience with battle and the other races. Still something just didn’t sit right with him about this. It’s too simple. But try as he might his name was on the bottom of the paperwork and as such there was no way he was going to get out of this.
But that brought him to the next question, his rising star of a shinigami, Camilla. She was not only asking but had been given permission from the higher ups to take part in this event. The question was should he bring her? She was definitely adamant and he suspected even if he said no there’d be a high likelihood she’d just follow him anyway. But sad as it was to say… he hadn’t been paying a great deal of attention to Camilla, especially not with him just having returned from his own… extended leave let’s call it only a few weeks ago. He’d heard her name in passing but nothing specific. Was she really ready to join him on a mission that could very well take her out of the Soul Cycle? The look in her eyes said yes but truthfully he wondered if she really was.
His shoulders slumped a bit as he sighed at the papers before folding them up and putting them back into the envelope. Assuming this was as simple as he hoped it’d be then there should be no problem. And if it wasn’t? Well he did have a small luxury to be able to heal/prevent death if push came to shove. It wasn’t a card he liked to play often but if worse came to worse it was a card he could play at a moment’s notice. To add to it, this mission was only going to be the two of them. Surely he could keep at least one of his squad members alive if push came to shove right? He wouldn’t be a captain if he couldn’t. Getting up out of his chair he looked over at Camilla with a small smile and nodded at her. “As long as you understand what you’re getting into I wouldn’t mind having an extra pair of hands. You never know what’s going to happen in the human world. Keep in mind though the goal is to get in and get out. Unlike the quincy who have been making a show of killing off all these hollows we need to keep ourselves hidden if possible. I will need an hour to gather everything I could possibly need, I suggest you do the same Camilla. We’ll meet at the Senkaimon if you still intend to join me on this mission.”
He smiled at her again before he reached out and pulled a bag of jellybeans out of his drawer and put it in one of his pockets. Afterwards he made his way out of the office towards his personal quarters. Along the way waving and quickly chatting with the various other squad members as he walked on.
Her face lit up with visible excitement; quite possibly the most amount of excitement she's ever experienced. She practically had to hold onto the seat she was in for her not to be bouncing up and down with joy. "Woohoooooo!" She whistled, "Thank you so much, Captain! I promise you ya won't regret it!" She held a smile for an exceptionally long time. "I fully understand the seriousness of the situation, and I'm ready to accept the possibility of this ending in a... not-so-desirable way. Trust me, Captain, this'll go well."
Standing up upon responding to Ludwig, Camila waited over by the door for confirmation from her Captain that she could leave. She didn't want to leave without the go-ahead, as that'd be rude, but she definitely needed that hour to mentally prepare for whatever her and Ludwig were going to be doing. While it was only an hour, it was certainly more than enough for her to gather what she need; perhaps she'd be able to work in some quick conditioning to get herself into a better situation for this all.
Upon leaving, she quickly rushed back to her own little abode in the Rukon, and immediately began to prep herself. Twenty push-ups, twenty sit-ups, and forty jumping jacks. Twenty push-ups, twenty sit-ups, and forty jumping jacks. She'd repeat these sets until about forty five minutes had passed, giving her the next fifteen minutes in order to actually gather what she needed. All that she really needed to get however was her Zanpakuto, though. Other than that, it'd be sheer force of will.
After her allotted hour had passed, she quickly made haste over to the Senkaimon, spotting her captain there. "Hello hello!" she exclaimed, "I'm quite ready for our mission, hopefully you are as well? Apologies in advance though if I'm not that much of a help during, I'm still not the strongest, and that much is certain." She chuckled to herself. "Hopefully this mission'll help with that one! I very much look forward to fighting alongside you!" She beamed with both excitement and confidence.

Ludwig chuckled before and as he left his office, sparing a quick glance behind to see Camilla’s beaming smile. He’d be lying if he didn’t admit it put his heart a bit more at ease but he had to steel himself and not let his emotions ride too high. He needed to stay calm and able to analyze what was going on at all times, lest either of them get seriously hurt. That would be why he recommended getting an hour to get ready. In truth it also gave Ludwig a moment to think about how exactly he was going to have Camilla help him, where she might best be suited. The problem was however that Ludwig had no idea of what her zanpakuto powers might be because if he recalled she didn’t have any. Maybe he just didn’t know about any she actually had but either way it meant she was about as basic, barring any physical or kido talent that she may have hidden in her back pocket.
The real question however would be what might she need that perhaps she couldn’t get on her own. No doubt she’d have her zanpakuto but since shinigami didn’t normally “need” to bring a hell of a lot with them most didn’t. She’d be in a similar state. Ludwig could take care of power if they were really in a pinch with several abilities in his arsenal but his healing was limited, honestly both of their healing abilities were limited. Ludwig would have to bankai if that were the case but it’d still take them down a peg given how the healing worked. But what if she weren’t with him? Then there was only one thing he could do, he had to inquire with squad 12 about their potential wonder drug he’d heard about from some of the higher seats. It cost an arm, quite possibly the one you’d just lost but it’s abilities were potent enough to warrant the high cost. If that was the case then Camilla needed at least one then just to have if things got crazy. Without further delay Ludwig headed to squad 12 to inquire about this “wonder drug.”
An hour later and his shopping completed though Ludwig grumbled quietly to himself he was glad he was able to have inquired about and acquired some of this wonder drug. Having seen the drug in action upon request he had to admit… It really was worth ever ryo to get it if only because it really could save Camilla if he didn’t have a means to or wasn’t immediately around. That price though. . . Note to self if I ever intend to help out Squad 12 I’m going to need to ask about how to make some of the prices for their creations at least a little cheaper… the damn thing really was worth the arm or leg it brought back. A quick breath later and Ludwig composed himself again just in time to see Camilla at the Senkaimon. It seems she was serious about actually joining along and “shadowing” him.
“Good afternoon Camilla. Don’t worry about your “usefulness” I’m certain you’ll be helpful in this mission. An extra pair of hands can do a lot, believe it or not. And I look forward to having that by my side while on this mission… Because honestly something doesn’t quite seem right with this mission. Quincy wouldn’t normally be so… blatant. Unless their Vandenreich perhaps but the report didn’t say anything specifically about them. We’ll figure it out when we get there however I do have something I’d like you to hold onto.” Ludiwg reached into his pocket and pulled out a small syringe with a strangely colored liquid inside. He held this out to Camilla. “Trust me when I say this can and will save your life if the worst happens and you’re gravely injured. In essence it is a drug that stimulates your body’s ability to repair itself. It will only work on a single portion of the body however so it requires some careful timing for when and what injury is worth using it on. Especially considering it can regrow entire limbs. I want you to hold onto it in case we get separated or in the event I cannot try to heal you myself for whatever reason and you are severely injured. I trust your judgement on when the time will come to use it. With that said are you ready? This is our last chance to prepare ourselves before we enter the human world.”
Camila nodded, grabbing the syringe from her captain. She sloshed the liquid around a bit while listening to him speak, observing the natural viscosity - or lack thereof - of whatever it was inside of the needle. She was genuinely interested as to what it was, and was going to ask if he hadn't explained it. "In essence it is a drug that stimulates your body’s ability to repair itself. It will only work on a single portion of the body however so it requires some careful timing for when and what injury is worth using it on."
Her jaw practically dropped hearing this. She was shocked, to say the least. She had no idea something so... Powerful, like that could exist! She let show a large smile, and tucked the syringe away into her pocket as well, continuing to listen to her Captain talk. Upon his finishing, she simply nodded with a smile. She was incredibly pumped for a mission like this, and more than willing to shadow her Captain in the execution of multiple squads of Quincy at once. Hopefully something like this would help to calm her nerves.
"I think I'm pretty ready, Captain," she said cheerfully, "at the very least, as ready as I'll ever be!" she chuckled a bit, and walked toward the already primed Senkaimon. The doors began to open, and she held her hand out as to motion for Ludwig to walk in first, as such was customary. Making sure she had a Jigokucho with her to ensure safe travel on the way back, Camila followed in suit. Shortly after, the two of them eventually arrived within the city of Chicago.
Upon first sight, Camila sighed, having seemingly recognized the city. It seemed very familiar to her time spent in Baltimore, a colder city also in the US. She looked around, taking in her surroundings quite quickly. She immediately went to swarm the shops that were nearby, before quickly realizing that they had a mission to do; this wasn't like last time she was in a major city like this, she needed to focus on task at hand. According to the sources they were given, a Quincy outpost was somewhere in the city; it was just a matter of finding, and eradicating it. Hopefully she'd be an ample source of assistance to her captain in the process, but only time would really tell on that one.
