Thread Title: Forced to Exercise Participants: Lawrence and Alexander World: Human World Death Setting: Non Death Enabled Rating: R Location: Special Conditions: No Vollstandig's allowed within the Silbern outside of a declaration of war. Circumstances: Alexander, having realized that his own laziness has begun to slow him down, begrudgingly proceeds to one of the Silberns training fields to practice some of his older skills. Upon arriving he finds the very eccentric Lawrence and use him as target practice.
Lawrence pulled out his watch to check on the time. A quick glance showed it was already half past 2 in the afternoon. Shit. I held them a bit later than I intended. Still at least we got them all to produce bows this time. Still can’t believe it took Andre 2 months to produce the damn thing. Let alone fire off an arrow. He sighed then took a deep breath before calling his subordinates to file up in front of him. They looked exhausted as most of the training had been with each sparring against one another to give them a “realistic” training environment. Needless to say some were a bit more worse for wear than others. But given they all managed to produce their bows and maintain it for the entire hour and a half Lawrence could honestly say he was just a bit impressed. Some of the privates were about as untrained as one could imagine so it was up to Lawrence as their immediate supervisor to bring them up to the standard. They were still a bit off as none could maintain an alternate form for their bow or arrows but progress was progress. Today it was producing and maintaining their base bows, tomorrow could be changing its shape on a dime.
After a quick overview of how everyone did Lawrence sent the group off to rest and get medical treatment as necessary. He stretched his back getting a couple pops in the process as he looked over the remaining field. The arrows they’d produced were gone and the field looked about as one expected with no one else present. “Excellent given most are working or training on another field it seems I’ll get this one all to myself. I can finally practice a bit of my Angehen, lord knows it’s been awhile since I have.” Glancing over the field he quickly found a couple dummies suitable for his martial arts training. They weren’t real combatants but they’d do for going over the basics. Which in truth was all Lawrence was really trying to get out of this. Some time to be with his own thoughts and go through the motions of his preferred martial arts.
Thankfully he didn’t even have to change as he was already in the appropriate clothing. A black t-shirt, athletic shorts, and shoes. The only thing he really needed now was to wrap his hands in boxing tape. Just to make sure his fists were able to give that little extra oomph. Especially since he wasn’t going to go all out and make his hands or feet spiritual steel equivalents like the style would normally have him do. A couple minutes later and now with his hands wrapped up he could finally start his own personal training session. He’d start light going for a few quick jabs to the dummy’s head followed by solid punch to where it’s solar plexus would be. He let a bit too much power go to it though and could hear some splintering in the wooden base. Shit. I went too far again. If I’m not careful I’ll break another dummy. Relax Lawrence. Breathe and control yourself. We are going through the motions, not trying to kill someone.
A quick breathe with a nod to himself and he went at the dummy again. No cracking sound this time. Then another quick set and still no cracking sound. So far so good right? Apparently not as within a few more sets of jabs, uppercuts, even a few kicks, Lawrence eventually broke the dummy’s wooden back causing it’s upper body to fall backwards. One loud groan and he’d go to his bag to grab his notebook. He’d have to tell the person in charge of the training grounds about this. He was certain they weren’t going to give him too much of a hassle but it still didn’t make him terribly happy. Still this wouldn’t stop him now, he’d only been going for about 30 minutes so he needed to continue for at least another 30 minutes longer. Thankfully there were more dummies, some that his group training hadn’t used so preferably he’d get a bit more out of them than his first pick.
All the while however Lawrence couldn’t get the thought of his head that he’d much prefer someone in the flesh. He really needed to have a living or at least moving target to fight against. Lest he’d get too used to dummy’s that stood still and let him hit them. And as he’d told his subordinates earlier with their sparring matches, the more realistic they could make their training, the better it’d serve them in the end. A real fight showed just how much you knew and could handle. It pointed out all your weak points so that you needed to improve upon. Sadly Lawrence hadn’t had that luxury since he became a Lieutenant. The other lieutenants had been just as busy as him with their own subordinates or actual missions so he was shit out of luck for the time being. One of these days though he’d get his own sparring match he just needed to be patient and keep his eye out for anyone available.
”Hmmmm.” he unsatisfiable moaned as he stood in the center of the main lobby of his home, looking at himself shirtless in the mirror. Stroking his hairy chin, Alexander pursed his lips as he looked away from his own reflection to better reflect on the problem in his head. Extending his left arm and looking at it, Alex opened and closed his fist a few times before giving it a good ol’ “fuck it” shake off. Getting no response from anything he was doing, Alexander was forced to admit his problem with a exasperated sigh. ”I forgot how to use Ransotengai..” he murmured to himself, smacking his lips as he placed his hands on his hips.
”How...did I...forget to do it?” he asked himself, tapping his foot on the floor before spinning on his heels. Was it his fault? Naw. There’s no way it could be his fault. There’s no way he could have fallen out of practice with a technique he learned over a hundred years ago and not kept up in practice of. In fact, thinking about it, there were a few other techniques and his inability to use them now that had similar stories to Ransotengai. ”h-hmm..” Alex murmed to himself, closing his eyes uncomfortably as he realized what must be done. He would have...gods he couldn’t even admit it. He would have to...oh he was going to puke.
He was going to have to train.
Throwing his signature tunic and polar bear fur cloak on, causing him to look about three times larger than he actually was, Alexander departed from his small manor with a grandiose and over dramatic opening of his front doors. His plan was rather simple. Find the nearest, and best looking, training ground and locate some poor shmuck who could use Ransotengai, and any other Technique Alex had forgotten, and abuse his authority to make them practice it infront of him. Alex would never be caught dead asking ANY Quincy how to use Ransotengai. Believe it or not, a lot of Quincy acted like knowing the technique was like having a three way. Such a great accomplishment to learn a high level and “forgotten” Quincy art. BUULLLLLLSHIT.
Though. Alex was forced to criticize himself for letting his laziness get in the way with practice. He had dealt with this situation once too. Once upon a time he’d forgotten how to activate one of the properties of his bow and, well, that was so much fun remembering how to do that without asking for help. It made Alex realize something back then too. His unique standing in the Vandenreich offered him both benefits and negatives. Alexander was free to carry on his families work, the hunting of Sinners in the World of the Living and Soul Society, when he wasn’t being called on by the Emperor Himself and other supervisors to do his work as a Captain. Alexander didn’t have much in the way of any Vandenreich related responsibilities, save for follow orders.
He had no platoon. No men. No squad. He was a lone wolf. He prefered it that way. But, alas, it had it’s problems. Sinners were...well...a rare occurrence. The fact that one could even get out of Hell was rare enough on its own, but then for them to escape Soul Society was even rarer. But, at the same time, that made them even greater as prey. And while the number of Sinners hiding in the Human World was much higher now than in any point in history, due to that little incident in Karakura Town (of course) a few years ago, Alex still needed time to pick up their trails. He was a bit more interested in Nakabakki at the moment anyways.
Strolling along the hallway of the boundary building outlining the edges of a training field, Alex offered a smile and a wink to a passing pair of beauties before letting his gaze drift over to the field. Standing in the window and looking out, he watched the new Soldats train with their bows. Well, there was no way in hell fledglings just learning how to produce their bows were going to be of any help to Alex. But as he watched, something caught his eye. Something of interest. The sort of thing you typically didn’t see in the Silbern. A Quincy punching a dummy.
”Well now, do you prefer cracking skulls because you can’t use a bow?” Lawrence would suddenly heard behind him, how Alex got over there so fast was a mystery of the universe, and would turn to see the cloaked, brown haired, and handsome Captain standing there a few feet from him. ”I’ve been serving the Emperor for well over a century now and I can count on a single hand how many Quincy I’ve seen practicing martial arts. Well, yes, generally you see some brothers and sisters whose bows require a melee approach...but even rarer are those who like to truly get their hands dirty.” Was Alex...complimenting Lawrence? Stroking his chin and lifting his head at Lawrence a little, Alex smirked.
”Are you trying to learn Angehen?” the Captain asked. Look, Alex may have been a idiot sometimes but he wasn’t stupid. He’d have to literally be uneducated to not know about Gavin Argelia’s offering to the Vandenreich’s lack of physical capabilities. ”It would be a shame if your bow turned out to be a ranged weapon, or a bow, and wasted your practice. Would be quite the divine comedy though.” Once again, Alex was just talking. Was he insulting Lawrence or just talking? It was hard to say. Especially with the polite and kind tone in Alex’s voice and the Light Aura literally radiating off him with as much intensity as a bukkake.
There was Lawrence minding his own business as he continued assaulting the dummy. Finally starting to get into the rhythm of his martial arts. Mind like a smooth surface of water where he could effectively be called meditating more so than training. He was flowing from each swing to the next hitting the dummy in all the correct places, or at least where he wanted to hit it. ”Well now, do you prefer cracking skulls because you can’t use a bow?” And there went that moment, ruined by whoever decided it was their lot in life to interrupt one of Lawrence's favorite moments. The frustration inside Lawrence was lit as though someone took a match to several cans of gasoline. Still this wasn’t his first time getting interrupted, nor would it be his last so instead of reacting he took a breath to calm himself before turning around to see who was bothering him.
The man that stood before him was not only physically bigger than he was but also much younger. Well in appearance anyway. Lawrence hadn’t yet found the “cure all” for life so his being in his 40’s showed far more than this one who looked not a day beyond 25 despite being at a minimum of 100 years in age. Chances were he was probably older than that even. Still for someone who’d been around so long shouldn’t he have recognized him? Amalia was someone who’d been around for awhile as was Hadrian, even Priscilla his seemingly vanished captain. People who actually managed to live past a normal human lifespan tended to be well known but this was one face Lawrence couldn’t even begin to put a name to. And if anything he was absolutely showing it as he glanced from head to toe Alex with just a hint of annoyance hidden behind an experienced professional mask. “Calm yourself Lawrence. Deep breaths lest your facade break. Though given that smirk it’s safe to say he knew he’d be aggravating to you the moment he spoke. Regardless keep it controlled.”
Another deep breath and Lawrence mentally nodded toward his inner god. Looking back up at the man who had been patient enough to wait for an answer Lawrence could at least respond back. “I’m perfectly capable of using a bow. However I felt it better to diversify myself as long range isn’t always a valid option thus I learned Angehen. I will admit however a more “personal” approach is my personal preference, nothing quite like taking a situation by the reigns, quite literally. That said, whom am I speaking to and what do you need?” Though Lawrence managed to be cordial something about this other quincy rubbed him the wrong way. Perhaps it was the “good guy” vibe he was giving off or perhaps his off hand comment about how it’d be a “comedy” if he had a ranged centered bow release. Or perhaps he just started off on the wrong foot with Lawrence. He wasn’t much of a man for surprises or the spontaneous and this man’s appearance was just that. Stop it Lawrence stop it. You’re thinking too negative. You can let it out once he’s done burning your time. For now just grin and bear it. It won’t last too much longer anyway, these sorts of conversations rarely ever do.
Alexander could taste the irritation coming from Lawrence. It wasn’t entirely apparent, the man was doing everything he could to be polite, but that sigh before he spoke betrayed how he really felt. It made Alex smirk and tilt his head to the side. Stroking his chin to feel his beard, Alex grinned as Lawrence answered him. He was at least speaking politely. When Lawrence finally finished giving his answer, Alexander couldn’t help but chuckle a little bit. ”Taking a situation by the reigns, that’s not a bad line. I think I like you.” Alex complimented, suddenly patting Lawrence on the shoulder and laughing. ”Cheer up crew cut! I’m just teasing you a little.” the Quincy played, removing his hand from Lawrence’s shoulder and then blinking with surprise when he was asked to identify himself.
Wait. What? Did Lawrence NOT recognize him? Alex blinked. ”A joker, huh? You obviously know who I am!” Alex laughed before realizing that Lawrence wasn’t actually joking. His smile twitched and Alex realized that he wasn’t as famous as he originally thought. Coughing and recovering his composure, Alex decided to introduce himself. ”Alexander Alistair, last son to the Alistair. Captain Alexander Alistair.” He introduced, revealing his rank to the Lieutenant and with a wave of his hand. ”Don’t worry, Lawrence, I’m not here to harass you. I have something in mind that could be mutually beneficial to us both.” the “Captain” explained, turning his back to Lawrence and beginning to stroll away from him.
”You see, I’ve got a itch that I just need to scratch. I’m not much of one for practice and training, but sometimes these muscles just need to work. All these others though? Bah. No potential. Not worth my time. But you? Youuu.” Alex explained, turning and pointing at Lawrence a few times. ”Have caught my eye. It’s not often I get the pleasure of seeing one Angehen, and I’m certain you’re dying for practice against something a bit more...lively.” Alex teased, motioning to the dummy behind him.
”Spar with me. This isn’t a order, but I’m certain you don’t want to pass up this opportunity. You get some practice and I get to have some fun. I’m curious to see your personal approach to fighting, and you might just learn something from this experience.” Yes. Alex had found a perfect sucker to kill some time on. Forget about Ransotengai. That could come later. Alex just wanted to have some fun. Maybe bullying this Lawrence for a little bit could give him what he was looking for.
Every moment with this man was a moment Lawrence desperately wanted back. Here he was with his limited time trying to train and this frustrating eye sore, well ok not an eye sore but this embodiment of frustration was eating it up. To be fair though there was a decent amount of frustration in his lack of training partner that had been eating at him and this guy had just been pushing enough buttons to start burning though his patience while he was already sparking. Still just as the jokester was about to say something his expression changed dramatically. That annoying smirk and oozing “cool guy” charm ebbed away and all that remained was shock. Pure unadulterated shock. It took Lawrence a moment to realize he produce this look by asking his name. Was this guy so lost in himself that he seriously believed EVERYONE in the vandenreich knew of him? If that had been the case prior it wasn’t now.
One seed of doubt planted by Lawrence on accident and Lawrence could feel the edges of his lips rising to smile just a bit. That break in his character made most of the time the other was eating worth it. That was until he finally recomposed himself and spoke his name and rank. Both of which by common logic he should have known. ”Alexander Alistair, last son to the Alistair. Captain Alexander Alistair.” Damnit. And like that his immense enjoyment left him. He had a captain in front of him. Not his captain but that didn’t exactly matter. If he wanted something Lawrence was going to still be obligated to obey lest he just end him on the spot. Then again perhaps he wouldn’t? Priscilla hadn’t been the type to kill on the spot so perhaps he wasn’t either. Only time would tell but for now he did need to give his utmost attention to his superior. No reason to take a risk after all.
”You see, I’ve got a itch that I just need to scratch. I’m not much of one for practice and training, but sometimes these muscles just need to work. All these others though? Bah. No potential. Not worth my time. But you? Youuu. Have caught my eye. It’s not often I get the pleasure of seeing one Angehen, and I’m certain you’re dying for practice against something a bit more...lively. Spar with me. This isn’t a order, but I’m certain you don’t want to pass up this opportunity. You get some practice and I get to have some fun. I’m curious to see your personal approach to fighting, and you might just learn something from this experience.” He had to admit this captain did make a fair point. Lawrence could very well have been getting rusty with just the training dummy. He needed someone who wouldn’t get knocked out in one clean hit or even several small hits. He needed to find a someone who’d be able to give him a means of fighting as though he was in a real fight. This captain would definitely give him just that.
“Take him up on his offer. This is an important step in the process to becoming the god you want to grow into. Strong opponents like this one will come up and if you’re not ready, you will fail. You have much to gain from this Lawrence, do not hesitate.” As usual his inner god was on point. This time however Lawrence already knew he’d be accepting. Though if anything his reason in particular was a bit more selfish. He wanted to see the difference between him and a captain. If he was close that would mean he could rise in ranking again and very shortly if he played his cards properly. If not he’d learn just what area’s needed to be improved upon before he could take on that mantle. And another smaller part of him just wanted to deck Alex in the face one time. JUST once. For now he’d have to settle for a small dig at the other and see how he’d handle it. “The candy of your eye eh? Yet no offer to take me to dinner? I’m hurt captain, you’re skipping several important steps here. Especially when your forward enough to ask me to “scratch an itch” for you. That aside I’ll take you up on that offer to spar. You’re not wrong about needing more than a dummy to train against. Where did you have in mind to train?”

Of course he’d agree. Alex knew he would. There were two types of people occupying the lower ranks of the Vandenreich’s army. There were those who would agree to any and all orders for fear of being put to death for saying no. While Alexander certainly wasn’t the type to do that, he was able to benefit from the reputation that Amalia had garned for herself. Thanks to her, most of the underlings would never dare say no to a superior. So you had the chicken shits that were afraid for their life if a Captain came over, but then you had the other batch. The opportunists. The ones that could see a opportunity present themselves before them and had the intelligence and drive to claim it. The ones that would climb the ranks of the Vandenreich and stand above all the rest.
Lawrence was turning out to be the second one, Alex was beginning to learn. He knew Lawrence would agree to his request but the demon hunter had to wonder just which category the man fell into. He was pleased to begin learning that Lawrence wouldn’t look a gift horse in the mouth. He’d accept the offer that Alex was so graciously giving him. It brought a smile to his face. A grin. Stroking his chin as he listened to Lawrence throw some banter back at him, the poor fool not even realizing this was making Alex like him even more, Alex couldn’t hide the chuckle coming from deep in his throat.
”I’m pleased to hear that a man of your inclination has that sort of interest in me. But sadly, you don’t have the right parts for me.” Alex retorted, turning his back to Lawrence and beginning to stroll away. He actually just assumed Lawrence was gay and was hitting on him. Hey, that was cool. Alex didn’t care about who you slept with, so long as they weren’t children, but he also had his personal preferences too. No judgement on his part. ”I’ll take good care of you though, trust me.” he replied with a smirk.
”What do you mean where?” Alex asked when Lawrence asked, looking at the other Quincy like he was blind. ”Look around you partner. We’re standing in the middle of a training field all too ourselves. What better place than here? Awareness of your environment is key to success in battle!” he teased, turning back around to Lawrence once he was a couple yards away from him. Truth be told, Alex felt a little excited. He even took a deep inhale of reiatsu through his Cross and Spirit Fragment.
It had been awhile since he fought a person. Alexander was a demon hunter, a monster slayer, which meant that his experience laid in battling the forces of the underworld and not so much with fighting people. It had been maybe...a year since he fought another person. Much longer since he fought another Quincy. This would be a good experience for him too. Lawrence was unique. Different than the others. Alex was bound to learn a thing or two as well. But he needed to maintain an air of superiority. That he was better. Because he was. But he also needed Lawrence to think that he was below Alexander. The demon hunter needed to maintain superiority.
Lifting his hand above his hand and pressing his fingers together, it was obvious Alex intended to snap his fingers and pretend they were a starting gun. ”Ready?” he asked of Lawrence, grinning ear to ear as he tightened his fingers together. ”Go!” he announced and brought his arm downward. But as he did so he did the first move. When Alex’s hand lowered and his fingers snapped, a thin bullet of light was birthed into existence and flew at Lawrence at the insane speed of 1,400. Alexander loved the Small Bow. Let’s just get that out of the way. Cords of reiatsu connected his thumb and his index and middle fingers. The two finds had acted as the limbs of the Small bow while he had pulled back the string with his thumb. Thus he had been able to make a microsized Small Bow in his hand, hidden behind the illusion of a snap. A sleight of hand. Tricks. Alex loved tricks.
His small, Class 4, arrow would hopefully make its home into Lawrence's left thigh. He intended to hurt him. Slow him down. Make it hard for a close combat man to do his close combating. Restrict your opponents maneuverability and the hunt is basically over. Slow them down, disable them, then fill them to the brim with exploding arrows. Though maybe Alex shouldn't fight Lawrence like he was fighting a demon. That wasn't fair for the man. He wasn't a demon. If he was then they'd have never had such a friendly starting conversation.
Remaining Reiatsu: 3,730 / 3,000 +800 for intake -70 for Small Bow + Class 4 Arrow
Lawrence just watched the man as he strode away to his starting position. He let the gay joke roll off him as there was no justifying what he’d said DID come off like that. His appearance probably didn’t help that either but that was a discussion for a different time. For now the other was already back to his cocky smile but now playing with his hand as though it were a gun. Lawrence tried to hide his lack of approval to the other’s playful antics but his frown and eyebrows tilting down gave it away. Still no matter how unprofessional the man was he got to be a captain because something about him was worthy of it. Lawrence intended to find out what it was but before they started their match he needed to prepare himself. Taking a moment he whispered the Aneghen mantra, one that genuinely suited his personal tastes. “Shatter and Break thyne enemies.” Only a moment later his hands, feet and up to his ankles and wrists were now significantly darker and held a sheen to them. Not unlike the zanpakuto shinigami wielded. Lawrence took a bit of comfort in feeling the increased weight, it was a feeling he had almost forgotten about as he didn’t normally get to have the pleasure of using this technique. One hum of enjoyment later and he'd draw in a bit of reiatsu to make up for what he used with this technique. It wouldn't be a lot but every bit mattered.
Before he could even think of enjoying the moment any further he heard the other start off the training match with a “Go.” In truth Lawrence didn’t have any means of really seeing let alone sensing the small bow that Alex formed. The only thing he had to go off of was that the man was pointing his hand at him and that alone meant he would fire something. This was something he knew simply from training his subordinates given there were quincy who did not ally with the emperor. Tricks like this were typical for anyone who used range as their sole means of fighting. More so on habits he’d already made Lawrence used Movement to quickly sidestep the arrow while moving forward diagonally. A subsequent use of Movement was then executed to propel himself next to Alex. However as he landed he used Hirenyaku to quickly cut across to Alex’s backside knowing full well the odds the other would move himself farther away were high. Assuming Alex did move Hirenyaku would allow him to easily follow and remain near the left side of his back. If he didn’t move then Lawrence would take his chance to roundhouse kick Alex’s back side under his ribs.
It was a bit of a risky play given Lawrence was opening himself up by using a fairly well telegraphed attack but if he could hit Alex he was certain he could inflict enough damage to make him stumble a bit. That as all he’d need given if he could make the other stumble and lose their ground he could take a step forward and let loose a right directly right into his shoulder blade. His goal being not to knock it out of place, especially since he wasn’t certain he was strong enough to do that, but instead hinder it’s range of movement. The arms were crucial for quincy and their bows, Alex was probably no exception to this rule so hindering the ability to draw arrows from his bow would be a godsend, especially since he wasn’t going to be able to outfight him at any point past medium range. And probably not even there. He needed to keep the distance closed to keep himself in his strongest suit. This was all assuming he could even land the first hit. If he couldn’t land that he’d be open for at least a couple seconds given a roundhouse kick was a full body movement. There was no easy way to recover from it without following through or hitting someone.
Usable By (Technique is available to which races?): Vandereich Quincy / Gavin Argelia / Quincy Trained By Those With This Technique
Technique Element: N/A
Technique Description and Effects (Explain appearance, powers, and effect): A technique that is the basis of quincy unarmed melee combat, Angehen. It allows a quincy to manipulate reiatsu in order to form spiritual steel on their hands and feet, allowing them defensive properties that enables them to fight armed combatants with less fear of having their hands and feet cut off. It involves the quincy manipulating reiatsu similar to how they would in Wahr Seele Scheider. The spiritual steel has the same effects as normal spiritual steel, and, unlike Wahr Seele Scheider, given the fact that it involes enhancing something that already has a shape and form, it is less difficult to perform.
How to use technique (How is it activated?):
The summoner focuses rei arond their hands and feet, stating the incantation in order to form the parts.
Technique Drawbacks (Limitations, repercussions for use, etc)
This technique, like any weapon made of spiritual steel, is affected by all the issues of the material, and takes cutback as a result. It can be broken, and unlike regular spiritual steel, if done so will damage the limbs that it is formed on with Internal damage and hairline fractures along the bones. In addiiton, the technique costs an addiitonal 100 reiatsu per post to maintain, and requires at least one point in Martial Arts (Angehen) to perform. Incantation and Effect (If Kido only): Shatter and Break thyne Enemies

His opening move was a Step Technique, eh? In order to dodge the Small Bow arrow Alexander had fired, Lawrence had opted to use a Step Technique to get out of the way of the deadly 1,400 Speed dart. This revealed a few things to Alex. Firstly, it told the Quincy that Lawrence was about average in Speed. He wasn’t any sort of speed demon who could sidestep such a fast projectile. Honestly, Alex wasn’t even sure there were any super fast Quincy types. It seemed like a weird combination. Secondly, what it revealed to the handsome, sexy, super awesome, demon hunter was that Lawrence didn’t have the physical strength to bat away an arrow.
Sure, it might have been possible that Lawrence simply couldn’t bat away something so fast but when someone dodged something it typically meant that that thing was dangerous. But since Lawrence didn’t do that, this gave Alexander reason enough to believe that the physically oriented Quincy didn’t possess the physical strength to smack away his arrow. Now, getting back to the fight Alexander witnesses Lawrence use a Step to dodge his arrow. As a close combat oriented Quincy, the demon hunter already knew where Lawrence was going to go. It was an obvious answer. The wise guy even tried to trip Alex up.
The sudden indentation in the grass next to him and the sudden rush of wind clued Alex into what was going on. Sneaky little devil. So that’s what he was doing. Like it was already said, Alex knew what Lawrence was aiming for. He was aiming to get close. As a physical Quincy, he had no choice but to close the distance between himself and Alex if he hoped to do damage. But Lawrence had made an assumption about Alex that just might get him in trouble. He assumed Alex couldn’t fight up close. His head turned slightly to peer over his shoulder just in time to see Lawrence, behind him as predicted, swinging his leg in a roundhouse kick towards Alex’s arm. No, maybe it was his ribs. Didn't much matter. He wanted to land a kick!
Arise
Activating his Firing Property and taking in some reiatsu, Alex decided to unknowingly correct Lawrence’s assumption that this handsome fox needed his arms to fire a bow. Before the other Quincies leg could make contact with Alex’s body, a flash of blue light erupted from the grassy floor around Alex's feet. Like a bolt of lightning, the arrow slammed itself into the reiatsu hardened leg that Lawrence wanted to kick him with. Blue sparks erupted from the conflict between the arrow and spiritual steel imitation before the arrow ended up succeeding in the end. With Alexander’s superior Reiatsu Strength, Lawrence’s leg would be forced back by the arrow and thrown upwards. Thanks to Silbern Schlacht protecting his limbs as though they were Spiritual Steel, he wouldn’t actually be damaged by the arrow. But suddenly having his leg thrown upwards by Alex’s arrow would inevitably throw Lawrence off balance.
”Oooh, close. What'll you do about these?” Alex teased, before firing two more arrows directly at Lawrence. Same as before they came from the ground, one fired before the other by a mere few inches, and aimed directly for Lawrence’s chest. Of course, he was kind enough to make sure they were aimed for nonvital areas. They’d just puncture through empty, meaty, space if they hit him. Alex wasn’t out to kill his sparring partner. So just what was going on with Alex’s Firing Property? It was simple. The most coveted ability of any Firing Property was having the power to fire arrows, the source of Quincy power, without having to form a bow. Alexander was capable of doing that. His Firing Property, Arise, caused arrows to be fired from the ground and upwards. Whatever his feet were touching that was a “ground” could have arrows fired from it. This actually made Alexander dangerous both at a distance and at short distances, because he could fire arrows from the precious foot positions of close quarter combat. Lawrence smiled to himself as he saw his attack was about to hit home. This “captain” didn’t even couldn’t even see him given his subsequent step techniques. It was perfect it was. . . an utter failure as Lawrence very quickly found out. Admittedly he had focused entirely too much on Alex without taking into account that the other could very easily have an ability or technique to defend him while he stood still. On top of that while Lawrence knew what he was going to do any seasoned fighter should have been able to figure out that Lawrence was going to be diving head first into Alex’s personal space. He used martial arts after all, if Alex hadn’t seen him using it earlier it might have come as more of a surprise. And thus potentially given him the opening he needed, in this case he didn’t get that luxury nor was he thinking as far ahead as he needed with this. Thus Lawrence’s eyes widened when he suddenly felt himself being pushed off balance and ultimately being pushed backwards to land on his ass from the sheer force of Alex’s arrow. And even though it didn’t break the hardened exterior that didn’t mean it didn’t hurt something fierce. In fact a bit more power behind it and his foot would have been utterly impaled.
”Oooh, close. What'll you do about these?” That smug commentary. That look in his eye as he knew Lawrence had next to no way to avoid the 2 subsequent arrows that were about to be fired. That smirk he constantly held on his face was as visible in his mind as it probably was physically. I know that look. I’ve seen it several times before though not normally directed at myself. It’s silent but he’s egging me on daring me to try and hit him. He genuinely thinks I can’t and will fail every time. If Alex paid attention to Lawrence’s eyes he’d see an immense frustration however even more curious was the gradual show of black. At the edges of his eyes where his sclera would be white the fringes showed signs of darkening to pitch black. You’re not the only one who doesn’t need a bow, try this number. With a bit of his reiatsu and a narrowing of his eyes Lawrence despite falling down pointed his left hand at Alex and fired off his own arrow.
But then something weird happened. Something he was certain Alex wasn’t expecting, Lawrence disappeared. Seemingly having faded from existence but rapidly enough that though Alex had fired his arrows they would only trail through the remaining visage of Lawrence. With Lawrence gone and a near point blank arrow coming toward Alex he’d have to move out the way or try to repel it in some fashion. And depending on how he’d react would depend how the arrow would function. Unbeknownst to Alex Lawrence’s arrows could be utterly manipulated while he was within 30 feet of himself and with his technique sealing him within the shadow of the arrow he’d remain constantly within that distance. Thus he could move the arrow as he pleased whenever and wherever he needed it to. So if Alex decided to fire yet another arrow from the ground to try and hit his arrow all he’d have to do is simply move it to the side a bit. Just enough to dodge.
But what was his real goal in all of this? Truthfully it was just to dodge Alex’s initial attack but he’d realized what implications this technique and his firing property had only after using both. Knowing what he did now he was aiming to hit Alex with said arrow and promptly release himself to all but sneak attack him from the last place he imagined Alex would expect. The ground. The latter fired his arrows from there after all why would he expect anyone else to do something similar? This in mind Lawrence planned on uppercutting Alex into wherever his fist would land first. His stomach, his chest, hell if he was lucky the underside of his jaw. He needed one good hit on the captain he was facing off against and wouldn’t be satisfied with the match until he managed it. And if that wasn’t the worst part yet. Lawrence didn’t even need Alex to be hit by his arrow he just wanted it to so he could be as close as possible. If he had managed to get near him whether through having his arrow chase him down or imbed itself into him to release himself he’d simply detonate it at near or point blank to make his sneak attack quite literally that much harder to see coming.
Usable By (Technique is available to which races?): Quincy
Technique Element: None
Technique Description and Effects (Explain appearance, powers, and effect): This technique is made utilizing The vandereich shadow tech in conjunction with a quincy's bow. The technique begins by the quincy charging an arrow, feeding a high ammount of reiatsu as they form a seal within the arrow itself, the seal of his majesty. After firing the arrow, the quincy vanishes, and is sealed into the arrow's shadow. After the arow is fired, the quincy can activate the seal, emerging from the arrow's shadow and reloading the arrow into their bow before firing again. This technique also modifies the nature of the arrow, by modifying the arrow the Quincy can have the arrow mimic their stealth skill up to 1 point.
Lawrence actually managed to impress Alexander. At least a teensy little bit. As Alex fired two more arrows with the intent of just hurting the lower ranked soldier, those focused, blue, eyes of his noticed both the slight change in Lawrence’s appearance and as well as the motion of his hand. First, the eyes. Those white orbs had suddenly began to turn black, as though he were becoming possessed, and betrayed the man's inner frustration and the contempt he had for Alex. Eye’s were the windows to the soul, afterall. But more importantly, such a change wouldn’t come about for no reason. Alexander had learned, through experience and past failures, to always take into account any physical change no matter how minor. He couldn’t sense energy, after all. He needed to pay attention and be suspicious of anything out of place.
Thankfully he was already looked at Lawrence. Alex was the sort of man to trash talk his opponent while looking them in the eyes. The demon hunting Captain noticed Lawrence’s hand was pointing towards him. Alex wasn’t omnipotent. Even less extreme than that was that he didn’t know what Lawrence’s abilities were either. But when he saw the trademark light emerging from the other Quincies hand, he realized what was going on. Immediately, Alexander vanished. Lawrence’s arrow, and the man himself, passed through empty space as Alexander reappered ten feet away.
Hirenkyaku. Shinigami had Shunpo. Arrancar had Sonido. Quincy had Hirenkyaku. By gathering reishi beneath their feet a Quincy was able to ride atop the spiritual energy, at a speed of 10x that of the users Speed, from one spot to another. It was said that Hirenkyaku was faster than the Shinigami Flash Step. Honestly, it was hard to say. Shinigami had a tendency to be faster than most Quincy just because they produced more physical specialist fighters. But Hirenkyaku could do things that Shunpo couldn’t. Alex wasn’t sure. Alex didn’t care. Alex had his attention on something else.
A steaming hole through his cloak. Lifting the left side of his travel cloak up, he frowned disapprovingly at the arrow sized, sizzling, hole in his clothing. While had had managed to avoid Lawrence’s arrow and avoid taking any damage, the same thing couldn’t be said about his favorite cloak. Then again, that was his fault for wearing such thick clothing that stretched as far as it did. ”So, that’s how you fire.” Alex commented, letting go of his cloak. ”Good to see you don’t need to use a bow. That puts you a notch above the rest.” Alex joked before noticing two things. Firstly, Lawrence’s arrow was still coming. Secondly, Lawrence himself was gone.
So, first thing was first. The arrow. Lawrence’s arrow was still coming. How and why? Alex had two showerthought theories. The first was that Lawrence had somehow marked Alex and his arrow was following him like a hound on a trail. The second was that Lawrence, himself, was moving his arrow. Typically Quincy that followed the Emperor weren’t able to steer their arrows. The heretics that abandoned their duties and God were able to that. In exchange, Alexander and others could detonate their arrows like explosives. Vandenreich arrows were stronger. But, again, having arrows that could move and travel along irregular paths was a sign of a stronger than normal Quincy. In a world of Step Techniques, having control over a projectile was practically a necessity.
So where was Lawrence? Alex didn’t know. He wasn’t behind him. He wasn’t above him. Alex would have been able to tell. He could have either heard the sound of wind rushing past Lawrence’s clothes, or his foot digging into the dirt, but he heard none of those things. Lawrence wouldn’t have been able to recover that easily from being throw off balance. The key was the arrow. Lawrence vanished after firing that arrow. Did he become the arrow? Alex wasn’t sure. But he knew a way to test it. His lips peeled back into a grin as he lifted his hand. He was going to show Lawrence what separates a top tier Quincy from the masses.
Minefield
He mentally cast, extending a field of influence and reiatsu outwards all around him for fifty feet. Lawrence’s arrow passed right into that sphere as well. And, once inside, Alex closed his fingers together into a fist. Lawrence’s arrow exploded. The air suddenly detonated into a violent, ground shattering, explosion. Lawrence’s arrow, weaker than Alex’s technique, would be completely obliterated when hit by Alexander’s stronger Reiatsu Strength attack. Dirty and debris hurtled through the air as a pillar of smoke rose high into the air, catching the attention of other training Soldats.
”So, Lawrence-chan. Do you know what seperates a powerful Quincy from a fledgling?” Alexander asked, adding the “chan” honorific to Lawrence’s name to just further mess with him. ”It’s being able to respond to and handle any situation your opponent puts you in. As you’ve seen, I can handle both your close ranged attacks and your long ranged ones too!” Alex was basically going into bully mode. ”You’ll have to do a lot better if you want to hit me. Though...I do consider damaging my clothes as an injury. You have no idea how difficult it was to get my own polar bear fur cloak made.” Alexander remarked.
”Shinigami come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. Hollows too. Being apart of His Majesties Holy Empire means that you will be forced to face off against His enemies. Shinigami, more so than Hollows, have a wide variety of techniques and fighting styles that you’ll have to contend with. You’ll need to able to adapt and overcome any strategy thrown at you. Expect the unexpected!” Weird, since when did Alex ever feel like teaching someone something? Was he actually starting to like Lawrence? The look in his eyes, the fiery desire to sock the man in the face, appealed to Alex.

Lawrence was only just getting used to the fact he could control his arrow when he suddenly felt Alex’s energy take over the nearby area they were fighting in. Lawrence didn’t even have time to react before his arrow was detonated upon and Lawrence subsequently thrown out form it’s shadow, through the smoke pillar and a bit behind it. Lawrence landed flat on his back and while he wasn’t harmed given his arrow took the brunt of the explosion the force that threw him back did not make his landing any easier. And to top it off he was still frustrated deeply but now deeply concerned given he was still in the reiatsu field. Then as if to make matters worse Alex decided he needed to open his fucking mouth. ”So, Lawrence-chan. Do you know what seperates a powerful Quincy from a fledgling? It’s being able to respond to and handle any situation your opponent puts you in. As you’ve seen, I can handle both your close ranged attacks and your long ranged ones too! You’ll have to do a lot better if you want to hit me. Though...I do consider damaging my clothes as an injury. You have no idea how difficult it was to get my own polar bear fur cloak made.”
More of Lawrence’s eyes grew black showing far more noticeably as it wasn’t the fringes it was halfway to his pupil. Lawrence drew in as much reiatsu as he could muster while he got up. He felt a bit shaky but managed to push through it regardless. I don’t care if this is a child in a man’s body with a captain rank to boot. I’m going to ensure he takes a serious fucking hit for all his talk. Even if I can’t beat him he’s going to realize he’s not out of my reach, so help me god. Lawrence was angry enough that he didn’t even register that the other was still talking. All he could do was think as quickly as his mind would let him about how to hit the cloaked man. The problem was this damn field ability. Lawrence didn’t have enough power in his arrows or his body to deal adequately with it, especially at point blank. But… that posed a good question, how many explosions could he create at once? And could he sense Lawrence at all within it or was it sight reliant? Taking note of the pillar of smoke still in front of him Lawrence had admittedly only so many options left. May as well test out his superiors ability to handle several attacks at once. Because if he could manage all of them he was fucked.
Running up to the smoke pillar Lawrence proceeded to fire off three more arrows. However given the cover of the smoke pillar it’d be harder for Alex to see them all. Then to make matters worse Lawrence split every arrow producing 6 arrows total all under his control and aimed at Alex. And what Alex wouldn’t sense or see for that matter was Lawrence slide into his central arrows shadow as he used the same technique again. Except this time given he split the arrow he now resided in both their shadows and would be able to survive at least 1 explosion given he had each arrow about 3 feet from one another creating a line of 6 different arrows that were all aimed at Alex. However that formation wouldn’t hold but for more than a moment as each would break off and circle around Alex at the normal arrow speeds. The farthest out arrows would be rushing past him before turning so that they would aim for his backside. The two in between the central and outer arrows split between aiming for his head and between his feet. While the final two arrows the one’s Lawrence was hiding in split off and aimed for either side.
Though it was costly for Lawrence, both spiritually and physically, his plan was actually more than just simply finding a weak point in Alex’s field. He was subsequently charging up yet more reiatsu while within the arrow’s shadow in preparation for his only offensive ginto technique. He just needed Alex to detonate or try to dodge his other arrows first so that either arrow from his sides would get in close enough that he could hop out the shadow and grab him. Leg, arm, even his waist. It wouldn’t matter. And the reason being Lawrence just needed him to stay still so that he could ensure the other was going to be hit by his Kelch Der Glut. Effectively a magma bomb in the form of a chandelier that produced 10 other smaller magma bombs. Granted it wouldn’t form that way upon such a close impact but hitting the captain with magma would undoubtedly achieve the result he wanted. A permanent reminder that Lawrence should never have been underestimated nor looked down upon. He may have only been a lieutenant but he was going transcend his currently lowly stature and be the god he knew he could become. And making sure this “superior” understood this was critically important both for Lawrence’s anger and frustration but also so that he would never be bothered by the likes of him again.
All of this though was dependent on if Alex failed to prevent either arrow at his side from getting too close. Because there was no way the other would sense his presence given his abysmal ES let alone the fact he had several targets to manage. Targets that would follow him regardless of where he moved given Lawrence could still sense a general idea of where Alex was and could correct his arrows accordingly. If they were destroyed again Lawrence would be far more easily seen being thrown out from them as opposed to the first one where it was blocked by the explosion and smoke pillar itself. And thus give away any strategic advantage he may have had. Because even though he utterly loathed admitting it, he was pretty well out classed by Alex’s control of the battleground. If he were more sadistic Lawrence would have already been beaten if not killed by his minefield alone. And that fact worried Lawrence far more than anything Alex had said up til now.

Looks like he was touching a nerve. Interestingly, as Alexander continued to goad and educate, the hunter started to notice an odd little physical abnormality happening to his new friend. Lawrence's eyes were darkening. Was it because of his bow release? Was it the sign of something to come. Was Lawrence possessed by a demon?? Oh! So many questions and more for this tale of two heroes! It was certainly interesting though. Enough so that it prompted Alex from simply raising one eyebrow with intrigue to his brow furrowing, his lips curving upwards, into an entertained expression. Like a cat looking at the food it was to play with. As much as Alex would compare himself to a wolf, a weasel, or even a jackal… he really did have a lot of cat-like qualities. Laziness, cruelty, smugness. Maybe he should embrace it. Stop being so stereotypical with the wolf comparisons.
”Good, good, you’re getting angry. But don’t let it go too far.” Alex called out, letting his head lean to the side and closer to his shoulder as he did so. Being a teacher and getting to just be an absolute bully to someone was actually kind of fun. But he wasn’t here just to bully some poor sod. While, yes, he was hear to alleviate some boredom he did actually want to impart some wisdom onto the other man. He thought back in those moments, after mentioning anger, to something that his father had once said to him. A quote from his childhood. A time when Alexander was still training and in the process of passing his Trials. Alex’s lips parted ever so slightly as he drew upon the wisdom of his father to impart on another who was not Alistair.
”Remember. Rage, hate, fear. They all feed upon one another. You have to learn how to direct your anger. But such a balance is precarious. And when that balance is lost, the cycle begins: Hate begets destruction. Destruction begets terror as terror begets Hate.” Alex altered a line or two to change it from “an Alistair” to making it more general. But maybe Lawrence could glean some wisdom from that quote. All Alistairs did. The demon hunting family utilized the methods described in that quote to slay their prey. It was a hatred for the corrupting and abominations of sin that drive them. A goal to protect the World of the Living from monstrosities that sought ruin and chaos. Even Alexander, smiling and happy as he was, was a black hearted soul burning with hatred.
At this point Lawrence was making his move for the pillar of smoke that had been created. At this point as well Alex used the opportunity to take in the reishi around them and convert it into reiatsu. ”Oh, really quick. If you’ve got even a second to breath, use it to take in reishi. Without reiatsu we Quincy cannot fight. Even you, who choses to subvert expectations, will be useless without energy.” he added, telling Lawrence to keep up with an elementary basic of Quincy combat. Even though, now the man was masked by the cloud of smoke. At least three… he thought to himself, focusing for a moment, as he worked to predict what Lawrence was going to do. Battle Analysis, experience, and instinct all played a part in how Alex’s mind worked.
Sure enough, Lawrence fired three arrows. But then they each split into two. He blinked. Oh. That’s what he’s doing. Alex realized, his smirk widening into a grin as he remained still and allowed himself to be surrounded by Lawrence’s arrows. As calm and collected as though it were a day at the beach. ”Alright. Let’s see about finishing this up.” the man said with a shrug just as Lawrence’s arrows moved in for the attack. As his arrows marked their targets and made their way to all the different points of Alex's body the space in which they travelled would suddenly detonate. Minefield was still active, after all. And unfortunately for Lawrence, yes, multiple sections could be detonated at once.
Except for one. One that Alex allowed to continue existing. One of the arrows that was making its way to his side was still allowed to exist. Alex decided to take a hurried step back to let it pass by him, knowingly playing right into Lawrences trap. The man would emerge from the arrows shadow, grasping his wrist, and prepare to unleash his special move to try and actually harm Alex. But Lawrence's red flags should have turned crimson. Because Alex was grinning. Grinning right at Lawrence. In the same moment that Lawrence grabbed he would wish he hadn’t. Because the poor Lieutenant had put himself in a really, really, bad place. The blue sparks coming from Alex’s hand would be the only warning the Quincy got, before the electricity wrecked its way across his body.
Electrocution really was one nasty as hell technique. Like a full body taser hitting Lawrence. His body would uncontrollably tense up, his muscles locking up, canceling out his actions before being sent flying back. Not by the electricity, no. But rather by a trio of arrows emerging from around Alex’s feet and puncturing through Lawrence’s clothes. Not into his body. But just the loose fabric and into empty space. ”And that’s how I handle grapplers. Give him a quick zap with the ‘ol finger bang.” Alex said rather proudly as he looked over at Lawrence. ”Always have an answer for what your opponent is going to do. Whether it’s attack from a range, attack up close, or even if they get their hands on you. Some of the Vandenreich look down on the use of the more general reiatsu techniques that other humans can do, but some of them are actually pretty nifty and useful. Don’t you agree?” Alex asked, looking from his raised hand to Lawrence before blinking.
”Hmm. What do you say we call it quits here? I don’t want to send you to the infirmary. Captain Fuchs might get upset with me if I were to send new patients her way. And, well, I’d rather her be happy with me than not. Have you met her? She’s bangin and that’s what I wanna be doing to her.” the man laughed. An idea suddenly came to mind after thinking about Alexius. Something she and he talked about while they were busy flirting with each other. ”Congratulations, Lieutenant Lawrence. You’re being promoted. No longer a do nothing at the beck and call of all who see you Lieutenant. But the Lieutenant of a very, very, special Captain indeed.” he exclaimed with a smirk, waiting to hear the mans reaction to what he was claiming.
Was this what this “captain” did best? Talk and talk and talk and talk until the only thing anyone could hear was his asinine voice? Seriously he was driving Lawrence batshit with that alone and that smug attitude to add on was like acid for his insides. To make matters worse though. . . it wasn’t actually bad information he was giving out. His commentary on rage, hate, and fear actually was similar to what he believed in himself. And if he were honest he was letting his anger get to him far more quickly than he normally would have. In his defense though there really was no one nearly as annoying as Alex. At least no one he’d ever met but still when someone’s correct, they’re correct and he’d need to take the advice on board sooner than later. As soon as the arrows were fired however Lawrence could no longer hear Alex and thanked his inner god for the brief reprise. His mental health sincerely needed it.
Within moments he’d managed to get the fruits of his little scheme to come together. 5 out of his 6 arrows had been utterly obliterated and if his general reiatsu sensing capabilities were anything to show Alex didn’t even seem to move. Least not that he could tell. But the last arrow where he was hiding was safe somehow. He must have had a limit to his detonations otherwise he’d have taken care of his arrow and let’s be honest 5 explosions was a bit much even for a captain. At least he assumed as much. He couldn’t be more wrong though as he was literally falling right into Alex’s trap. And once he was close enough, reached out of the arrows shadow to grab Alex’s wrist with his right hand. Finally! I’ve got this incompetent fool! I’m goi- That’s when Lawrence noticed it. That smirk. No it couldn’t be, it wasn’t possible. Lawrence happened to glance at Alex’s arm, the very same he was holding onto and there were sparks. He’d be tricked. And Lawrence fell for it 100% there was no time to stop the electrocution that would happen in the next moment. Hell he couldn’t even throw his ginto tube that was primed and ready to shower the fool in magma. But if Alex thought that Lawrence wouldn’t get the cheapest shot in the book then he was wrong. He’d take a fucking hit even if it killed Lawrence.
Dia-Aufnahme had the nice little trick of replacing the arrow fired back to where it came from. And in Lawrence’s case right back into his small crossbow. Lawrence didn’t hesitate to send the necessary reiatsu into the arrow and detonate it. Make no mistake he was in the middle of getting electrocuted there was no avoiding that. But if there was something Lawrence was going to fail at it was landing a solid hit on this man. This infuriating man that made Lawrence want to just rip out his own hair to spite him. The explosion being point blank would be very hard to dodge as despite being electrocuted his grip didn’t wane but Lawrence was just as subject to the explosion, hell more so than Alex probably was. And that explosion alone blew Lawrence and Alex apart forcibly. Lawrence got flung back a good few feet and just laid on the ground still twitching as he suffered the after effects of being tazed. He couldn’t even focus on Alex if he was lording over him again as he was desperately trying to regain his motor functions. But there was no doubt in his mind he’d lost. And he’d lost pretty badly to this captain.
A minute later and Lawrence was finally feeling his limbs and not pain throughout his body. His right hand though definitely needed to be looked at. He didn’t let himself glance at it as he could tell from simple twitches he’d broken most of the bones in it. He sighed internally. I guess I will have to acknowledge this Alexander. Oh my bad Captain Alexander. He’s earned that title if nothing else in this fight. Lawrence glanced over at the Captain who was already starting to talk again. God help him if he ever had to work with this guy. He may have shown he’s earned the rank but to deal with this constantly cocky voice would grate Lawrence to no end. At least there was some mercy in this world. ”Hmm. What do you say we call it quits here? I don’t want to send you to the infirmary. Captain Fuchs might get upset with me if I were to send new patients her way. And, well, I’d rather her be happy with me than not. Have you met her? She’s bangin and that’s what I wanna be doing to her.”
Slowly Lawrence got himself up, mostly through the aid of his left hand and though he listened he clearly had disregarded almost the entirety of what this man was saying. Really he couldn’t have cared less who he wanted to bang. Still visiting Captain Fuch’s would be necessary given his right hand so he’d agree to that for now. “Agreed, besides my rash decision I’m certain has made my right hand next to useless currently. The sooner it gets seen the better. Let’s just hope she won’t be too upset at an unannounced visit, I don’t recall her being quite as. . . welcoming to all members of the vandenreich as she seems to have been with you.” Lawrence made his way over to grab his gym bag of clothing when what he heard next sent a chill down his spine in the worst way possible. Nothing could spare Alex from the look of pure shock that transitioned to anger. ”Congratulations, Lieutenant Lawrence. You’re being promoted. No longer a do nothing at the beck and call of all who see you Lieutenant. But the Lieutenant of a very, very, special Captain indeed.” This man who made him want to lose his mind was now going to be his boss? His immediate supervisor. No. No. NO. NO. NO!
Lawrence in his anger fired off yet another couple arrows at several of the nearby dummies and detonated them. How could he do anything else? In this regime he had no ability to deny this captain. He could have any number of consequences for even trying to disagree. And besides he HAD to work for somebody. It was just the way this military organization worked. But HIM? No, surely there had to be someone else. But even if there was he’d just laid that claim. And considering he didn’t have a direct captain in charge of him currently he was pretty much stuck with this fool. Only Priscillia could go against it and she’d not been around for quite awhile doing god only knows what. Lawrence’s thoughts were thrown into disarray however as he realized he was squeezing his right hand. The hand that had multiple broken bones in it. To say it hurt was an understatement and Lawrence barely kept it together so he wouldn’t yell. But his face contorting was very evident and he had no doubt the other was getting far too much amusement from the entire fiasco. With that in mind Lawrence steeled himself as much as possible and simply grabbed his things before walking away. He had nothing he could say and he needed this hand looked at sooner than later. He’d find Alexander at another point in time since now he worked for him or rather under him. No doubt the other lieutenants would know where he worked because as far as Lawrence was concerned the man may as well have popped out of nowhere and thrown his entire world on its head.
