Thread Title: An Exterminator Arises Participants: Sylvanas and Camilla World: Human World Death Setting: Non Death Enabled Rating: R Location: The Wilderness of Karakura town surrounded by forestry, a running stream nearby, and a simple cave entrance which for the time being is considered Sylvanas' home. It is late day nearing afternoon. Special Conditions: Circumstances: Upon discovering that Sylvanas is a Bount, a race with no particular requirement to hunt but still a possible training experience and a way to get rid of a potential pest, a Shinigami has come to face her, and possibly end her life. Quite the serious matter, but luckily, neither of them are very strong and the battle will be contained within an area with essentially no people in it.

The Bounts as a race unbeknownst to Sylvanas Liskasha were still very much still in danger from many accounts. While actively hunted in droves by those of the Quincy, she had no idea that Shinigami still had potential to kill them with little consequence. This was why when she was faced with a Hollow and had dealt with it yesterday, she was hardly aware that she was about to be attacked. Having been stranded in Karakura, she found herself converting all the money she had to Japanese currency, and she wound up staying in this mysterious land in hope of finding more of her kind. More Bounts. Staying in the wilderness, she stayed here in an attempt to avoid Hollows as much as possible, and as a result was the most vulnerable spot for a one on one confrontation.
She found herself a part time job and had begun investigating the spiritual elements of the town, finding rather little. What she did find though was a mysterious store where she purchased a weapon that could supposedly protect her from the spiritual entities of the world. Based off the fact her doll of which she’d dub as S. to others was able to use it to far more effectively rid of an opponent, she found this to be true. It cost her about all she had. Tough world. Really was. Luckily, she was dragging by, if barely. Hopefully in the future, she'd figure out a way to improve her quality of life. However, for now, she was kind of in a pickle?
She stood at 5’4”, lithe, looking like an ill woman with mid length black hair past her shoulders, wearing a simple windbreaker, white blouse, and knee length skirt. She looked somewhat dirty from her ventures of exploring and living in the forested regions, and her home was a narrow cave opening with some basic supplies. She ate a freshly caught fish this morning, and it was good. Really good. It gave her a new appreciation for living she supposed, but in the quiet, it wasn’t hard to notice some odd things. Call it instinct or otherwise, but she just had this bad feeling for some reason.
Grasping the cross around her neck, she proceeded to look across the area, looking for some semblance of danger. “Is someone there?! Show yourself!” For the most part, she seemed pretty harmless, and that was because Sylvanas very much was so. She could hardly defend herself against the weakest of Hollows, and even a normal human being could overpower her. Her doll on the other hand? Well, that guardian was an entirely different matter. Maybe she was being paranoid. Maybe. Just maybe, there was nobody there at all. Still though, she had to be prepared.
Grasping a spiritual staff, one she wasn't really all that attuned to using, she was better at swinging it around and using it like a club as opposed to it's actual purpose. Unfortunately lessons weren't something that she had money to pay for, and nobody was around that was going to just teach her a self defense skill. On regard to her doll however? Even without actual training, she could use the weapon rather terrifyingly both as a club and or an actual weapon from her overall olympic athlete level physique. "H-Hello?" The girl began to sweat nervously as her left hand held her staff, the right holding her sign of faith, clenching it tightly to her chest. She was almost certain, something was waiting for her.
Name: Spiritual Steel Staff Description: A simple pole about six feet in length, the staff is meant to be used for a combination of balance and range along with swift and simple attacks. Type of Item: Weapon Class: 5 Item Power (IP): 300 Offense Type: Physical Durability: 2x Base IP Bonuses: None Drawbacks: None Costs: 3000 + 2000=5000
Hearing a lot about a place called Karakura Town from fellow Shinigami, Camila decided that it may be a potential place to check out when she could. Even Albin agreed to this, and that was a surprise in and of itself. The two of them almost never agreed, so how was it that they actually managed to reach some form of consensus now? Either way, she knew where she was headed for the most part, and quickly made haste to Karakura. Being in Squad 13 certainly had its advantages, and one of them was easy access to the Human World, that's for sure. Using this, she was there in a short matter of time.
Exploring what the town had to offer, Camila quickly realized that her lack of Japanese would come back to bite her here. It wasn't a place she could frequent in a Gigai, as she didn't understand what most people were saying. Perhaps there'd be a way around that later on, but for now, it was certainly an issue. Leaving Karakura to explore the outside areas, as Albin happened to suggest, was not a bad idea. She'd be clear of having to deal with a language she couldn't speak, that's for sure, so perhaps it'd be a good idea to do so. Following the advice of someone who was more or less trying to kill her at some point, Camila ventured into the wilderness.
Exploring around a bit was certainly interesting, Camila always had a small fascination with nature. The colors of the day and night in the forests back home were always beautiful, that's for sure. She continued to look around, making notice of just about everything she found, getting more and more interested as she went on. She refrained from touching most of everything, as she didn't want to get her hands dirty. While that might not have been as much of a big deal as it was in the past, with the potential of ruining her old keyboard back when she was, well, alive, she still didn't like to get her hands dirty.
Eventually, she stumbled upon a cave of sorts. It was rather small, but definitely noticeable. Perhaps exploring it was something she'd do? This was something she decided against, until hearing a shout from inside the cave. “Is someone there?! Show yourself!” These words surprised Camila a bit. She didn't think there'd be much of anybody out there. Who knows, maybe she'd be able to make a friend of sorts? As soon as this thought popped into her mind, she was reminded of Albin by the apparent snickering she could hear near her. Of course. He sent her here in order to get killed, what other explanation would there have been? With this, she sighed, sucked it up, and made her way towards the cave. She was going to prove Albin wrong that she could hold her own.
Upon making her way towards said cave, she met a smaller girl, a few inches shorter than she was. What was she doing there? Camila began to watch from a distance, not worried that she might be seen. After all, what were the chances that someone like her would actually be able to see her? They really weren't that high, so she wasn't worried. Instead, she continued to watch the young girl freak out, and continued to feel bad for her. "Maybe I should do something..." She told herself, slowly making her way towards the girl. Even if she couldn't be seen, there was still the chance that she'd be able to do things for her to help her survive.

Sylvanas was obviously and understandably a little bit more than worried about the whole situation, and when a Shinigami arrived? Her eyes widened as she saw the familiar black Shihakusho, sword resting on the side of her body. She could cleanly see and look into the woman's direction before her face went pale, her weapon was reached for, and immediately did she stand up, stepping out of her cave to avoid being cornered like a trapped animal, five meters away as she yelled out at her mortal nemesis. "Go away! Get away from me!" She looked fearful, but serious on the regard of defending herself before she suddenly went into a series of coughs, keeping her staff out to try and keep her at bay from approaching, feeling like she was suffocating.
Coughing into her opposite arm, she had the wholehearted belief that this woman was here to kill her for being a Bount, just like her kind had several centuries ago. Sylvanas didn't necessarily have a strong hatred for the Shinigami, but she feared them, feared them with a searing pain in her heart, remembering how they came to that mine in England, killing every man, woman, child, and guardian they found. She watched her people be slaughtered by swords, magic, and crumble to dust when their guardians died. Her eyes shook, tears filling them as the reaper was dangerously close. However, as she broke from her coughing fit, she quickly wiped her eyes as she realized something.
She had to defend herself, because there was nowhere else for her to go. She wouldn't make it back in the city and she knew for a fact that this Shinigami was likely going to call for friends upon realizing what she was. Wielding her staff with one hand on the low bottom end, the other supporting the middle, she only hoped she could stand a chance. She had never fought like this in her life before, and she had a good idea that the Shinigami were well trained with those swords of theirs among other things. So then, what was she going to do? What could she do? A few thoughts went through her head, but one of the first, best, and worst ideas came up almost immediately. She could try to summon her doll.
Yet, when she thought about that, she imagined her doppelganger managing better physically. However, if her doll were to die? She'd burst into flames and turn into ash, blown away in the wind as if she never even existed. She couldn't. She wouldn't. Her doll would simply have to be used elsewhere. She couldn't risk her one and only doll being injured and killed and her dying in the process. As a result, she'd have to simply fight until she was down, and if worst came to worst, then her doll could come save the day, be the guardian it was supposed to be, and she could get scolded by her identical friend afterwards. Shakily wielding a weapon at the Shinigami, her stance hardly considered that at all, the smaller woman gazed at her foe cautiously.
Upon seeing the younger woman assume a fighting stance, Camila's face lit up with childlike joy. She grew quite excited in the fact that she'd be able to fight, quite enjoying combat as a whole. If given the opportunity, both Camila and Albin would sooner die then turn down a fight. There was just a sort of rush to it that she enjoyed, and it was something that she certainly wasn't going to miss the opportunity to fight now. She grabbed her blade, and took a defensive stance, watching the young girl before her. For Camila, this fight was just a waiting game. Block and parry, then strike with an effective counterattack. Such was the life as a defensively-oriented fighter.
"So, what's up? Why're you so scared? I dunno about you, but I'm not really looking to fight to the death here, but I'm certainly not going to turn down a fight if that's what you want to do!" Camila laughed, while still holding her composure and stance. "So, what's your name? Mine's Camila, pleasure to meet you!" Once again, Camila flashed the younger girl a smile. She obviously thought that she was dangerous, so going around and preventing that was probably the best way of going about that. "Might I ask why you're out here? The wilderness seems to be a fairly unsafe place. Where's your home?"
Hopefully conversing would help this young girl calm down, and, if not, a fight would happen anyway. It was a win-win, and there was no arguing with that. If she was able to fight, it would surely make for a good situation to train herself up. If the younger girl had decided not to fight, lay down her weapon, and stay calm, she could make a new friend! Granted, it'd be a bit challenging to actually talk to her on a normal basis, but who knew? If they enjoyed each other's company, perhaps a friendship could definitely bloom there. If not, this would certainly make for an interesting fight.

Sylvanas couldn't just afford to pick up her things and leave. This was the only place she had left. So, when the Shinigami had grasped her blade and pulled it out? From that point, whatever was said, she didn't trust it. The Shinigami were liars. They had promised they would protect the Bounts and let them live, and immediately were they met with slaughter and extermination. She said she wasn't looking for a fight to the death, and for a moment, she wondered if the person before her was telling the truth. However, in her mind, it had to be a lie. It had to be. When her enemy refused to back off from her home, the Bount bit down on her lip, gazing at her opponent. Out of all of the potential dangers out in the wilderness, why did it have to be a Shinigami?! Of all things!
"S-Sylvanas." She was asked why she was here, and with it, she held her grasp on her staff tightly. "This is my home..." Weapon still raised and prepared for combat, she really didn't want to have to fight this death reaper, and yet, she said she wasn't here to kill her. Though, it made her wonder on why she was followed out here in the first place. It surely couldn't have been a coincidence could it? Taking deep breaths to calm herself, and with it, she steadied herself as she spoke with a hint of agitation in her tone. This girl was starting to agitate her because she spoke as if her and her kind didn't do anything wrong, not aware of how a Shinigami could live hundreds of years, thousands even depending on the strength of their soul.
"Y-You slaughtered my people. H-How could you say such a thing? Y-You Shinigami bastards!" She backed farther away into her cave now, crouching for a moment before throwing a smooth stone, about half the size of her fist being throne for her head. "You're murderers! We did nothing wrong except exist and you slaughtered us and left the rest to the masked ones!" She hurled another stone in the next moment, her growing anger clouding her sense of fear at the Shinigami. "GO AWAY!" She shrieked, clearly upset by the black robed wearing spirit humanoid. "Otherwise. Otherwise... I'll beat you off!" Unsure of how she'd take such a threat, the Bount swallowed a lump in her throat, staff ready now to assault her.
Maybe Sylvanas had just made a big mistake there was no going back from, but she'd accept that potential fate now. There was no running away from all of her problems, and unfortunately, this was the biggest potential problem that could have ever come for her. Her foe looked dangerous, very dangerous with that sharp soul cutting blade, the fact that it was pointed at her, shining in the gleaming sunlight made her feel intimidated, as if her very life were on the line. In which case, it most likely was. Trying to throw up some...sort of stance, she wound up holding the bottom and middle of the staff, trying to copy that sword pose of hers, before ultimately just...wielding it somewhat like a staff? She was inexperienced, and this was a rude awakening for her.
Camila began to drown everything out, and resume her stance. She began to focus on nothing but herself, her stance, and her opponent. She looked to be in a rather... improvised stance. It was nothing practiced, that's for sure. Camila pumped her fist internally. In that aspect of this fight, she was at an advantage. Though, what else could she pick up on her opponent? Her inner thoughts were quickly interrupted with a rock flying towards her face from a fair distance away. In response, Camila strafed to her left, starting with a spin, and promptly resumed her stance.
A bit agitated, she began to speak again after Sylvanas. "I'm not looking to hurt you. Though, deliberate acts of aggression are going to take you to that point rather quick-" Her words were quickly interrupted by another rock flying towards her. In response she turned her blade to allow the blunt edge to intercept the hit, and let the rock bounce off. Turning her sword back, she inspected the blade to see if any damage had befallen the blade. Nothing there, good, she thought to herself. She took a deep breath, looking to calm herself down while the girl continued speaking.
Once Sylvanas had finished her outburst, Camila took the wheel. "I told you I had no plans in letting harm come to you. I was looking for a clean fight with you, should you desire. Though, that has since changed." From her tone of voice, it was clear that her demeanor had changed. She went from bubbly and cheerful to stern and quite angered in a matter of a few seconds. At this point, there was no going back. "You stand before Camila Adaronde, member of the thirteenth squad of the Gotei 13. Your attempted assault shall not go unpunished."
With this, Camila glared at her enemy. She had no desire to make peace with the girl before her, as young as she might've been. All this talk of murder clearly showed that she was mature enough to understand what was going on. If shinigami were murderers in her eyes, and she wanted nothing to do with them, then why go out of her way to provoke and attempt to assault one before her? She didn't understand, but what's done is done. All that mattered at this point was the fight about to break out. As such, Camila watched her opponent carefully. She had no intention on making the first move, and as such, was not going to be taken by surprise when that move occured.

She wound up running, charging. "Haaaaaaaagh!" There was no more compromise, though she didn't rush in for any swing. She instead held the pole close as she ran for a charge, yelling out, pole raised slightly, seemingly looking like she would go for the overhead swing with her staff with both hands, aiming to bring it down over to the Shinigami, in order to keep out of sword range while still being able to strike at her, trying to get an idea of their differences of strength by provoking a block, seeing it was impossible to gauge that just by looking. However, if they were about equal, she'd press down with her whole weight against the staff.
Closing the distance, she'd have a firmer grip stance and more pressure on her opponent, and as she pushed in, she'd aim to kick Camila Adaronde of the 13th division in the stomach, aiming to knock her back, gain distance, and to gain the first blow, to perhaps blow some wind out of them. Sure, she might not have been a trained warrior, but it didn't mean she was an idiot. She was envisioning her survival five seconds from now, imagining the battle she'd be facing with this Shinigami, stepping back to gain some more distance. She didn't speak anymore from this point.
Doing so could be heavily dangerous and could lead to death for this poor bount. For that very reason, she'd just have to pursue battle safely and take her time fighting if she had to. Though, she imagined that the Shinigami before her had more of an advantage on that end than she did. A battle of attrition was never going to work in her regard, and in a battle of skills, she'd have to use every underhanded and dirty tactic she could in order to secure victory. She stood in her own firm stance afterwards, and made it very apparent she wasn't budging. They both had the same idea when it came down to battle, there was no denying that.
Defending against an attacker was almost always easier, and it took more effort to press an assault than defending one's own ground. However, it was important between two fighting opponents, especially ones similar in appearance to determine the abilities of strength and the differences of it between one another. It was the main reason why she swung her staff in the first place. She wanted to know how out of league she might be here and if she was going to need to run off soon enough. Her life was in potential danger, and her opponent made it clear that she planned on punishing Sylvanas, even though she had simply asked the reaper before her to go away, of which she firmly refused.
She cursed her own stupidity and semblance of humanity in these moments, wondering what in the world possessed her to do battle with the death god. It was nice and cool in the deeper forestry in the mid fall, leaves scattered along the ground in the preparations for Winter. Alright then, she was going to have to take this one step at a time. One careful manuever. One cautious movement between the two of them. Otherwise? She was going to die here. The thought went through her head. She was going to die here. Oh god. The thought was running through her head, and in doing so, she strengthened her grasp along that staff.
Well, if she was going to die then? LET IT FUCKING COME. It was destiny for her to die in this case if that was going to happen. It was destiny for her to face this Shinigami and fall like the people before her if she was so brazen. It was destiny that her emotions would lead to her developing and causing this form of conflict. Sylvanas Liskasha would stand and fight. She was tired of running and hiding from all manners of monstrosities, and this Shinigami was one of those great fears. She was covered in cold sweat already, just thinking about the battle, and yet, she knew she couldn't keep running. She wouldn't. So like a proud warrior, she stood her ground, waiting for an exchange of staff on sword.
Seeing the girl charge her, Camila smirked. Excellent, she thought to herself. Everything was going all according to plan. Once the girl with within easy melee range, Camila decided to put her plan into action. As Sylvanas lowered her arms to get a good overhead swing, Camila spun to the right, all the while holding her sword out to further increase the speed of her spin so that she could not only dodge the attack, but make a strike back of her own. As the girl was reeling from the attack she had just made, Camila used the speed and force that she had gained from the spin to attack, looking to send her blade upwards through Sylvanas' left side, hoping to cleave upwards.
As she was soon able to realize, having practice with her weapon may have very well given her the upper hand for a moment. She took a few steps back, balancing her stance once again. "Don't make your attacks so painfully obvious," Camila said, keeping her view on the girl in front of her, "rushing forward like that is dangerous enough. Tipping someone off with a shout beforehand is likely going to get you killed where you stand. Speaking of which, watch where your blind spots are. Don't leave yourself open as much as you did next time." Camila focused her guard on the girl, keenly watching where she went. She'd be ready to turn herself in order to block if need be.
Per usual, Camila began to play the waiting game. She was quite patient, as well as stubborn; the likelihood of her initiating an attack grew ever slimmer upon realizing that her opponent is actually willing to do so. Baiting those out are likely the best way to draw in an attack. As such, she had the idea to criticize the opponent's fighting. Perhaps this could anger her, and lead her to make another reckless attack? Only time would really tell, but she knew there was a fair possibility of it happening again if it happened once. Even so, she continued to wait through the potential deadlock. It wasn't hard to predict that her opponent would likely go on the offensive after being struck, as to prevent that from happening again. Such was the way that most people thought, unless they felt they could overpower their opponent.
To prevent this thought from even growing in her opponent's mind, Camila had decided that she'd much prefer to dodge than block. If the opponent never got a good grasp on her strength, how was she going to defend attacks, and know where to dodge? At that point, taking a hit would be far riskier than she'd like to let on, though. If she had decided to never clash weapons, how would Camila get an accurate representation of the strength of the girl before her? Sure, her fighting was rather unorthodox, but that didn't mean she couldn't pack a punch. The chance of her being overpowered was certainly there, and not something she'd like to let happen any time soon.
She began to run through potential ideas as far as what she could do in this fight. If the opponent decided to charge again, Camila was likely to do the exact same thing; dodge and counter. Though, her means of doing so were likely to be different. Instead of spinning to the right, perhaps she'd jump up? While potentially lethal, an overhead swing with a bladed weapon could potentially finish the fight right there, should she get a good enough hit off. This was certainly a step in the right direction. After all, it was blade versus blunt. As far as lethality went, she certainly had the upper hand. Whether or not she'd be able to make use of that, though, was up in the air, and would remain up in the air until the fight resolved.

Now, Camila seemed to underestimate the fact she was using a staff which had superior range when it came down to combat. Yes, it was undoubtedly true that she would be able to dodge with relative ease considering her combat experience, but ultimately wasn't going to be close enough to strike Sylvanas without her reacting. No. When it became clear her blow was to miss, Sylvanas' eyes widened as she pulled her staff inward when it hit the ground, pulling inward and lifting up as a resounding clang would hit through the area. A narrow save as her staff would collide and subsequently negate the incoming blow. However, it seemed that ultimately, Sylvanas' goal was completed.
She got the gauge of strength that she was looking for, and it became more than clear that they were near equal, if not equal. Taking a deep breath as a light bit of sweat broke out on her face from the collision, she had to wonder in her mind what kind of Shinigami would coach or constructively criticize their opponent in the middle of combat! Taking the opportunity to continue the clash, Sylvanas pushed her weight to knock the blade away, stepping back two feet as she brought her staff back, leveled with her body as she was having a pretty bad day. Yet, she did not bother to press the assault. No, that was very...very dangerous.
The bount needed to think of a plan first. Which...eventually came in suit. Stepping further back to the encampment that was her home, she tried to antagonize the Shinigami into coming after her, to continue cornering her until she had nowhere to go. If she was successful, she'd suddenly stop, then pivot when she came close to her unlit fire, suddenly kicking old ashes and small bits of wood into the woman's face and eyes, letting her experience the smell and taste of cinders as she'd take the chance to engage her, swinging her staff diagonally in the next moment to hit the woman's right thigh with her staff. The results were likely pretty bad.
She wasn't the toughest of girls out there, but she was always hitting as hard as she could, and she looked to break something she could, perhaps shatter the Shinigami's hip with the advantage of range, and to further limit her mobility to do things. Walking, stepping, anything on the particular leg in question would be painful, incredibly so if she could manage, and if she was lucky, she'd knock the woman to the floor, before Sylvanas would quickly raise her staff and just continue swinging down, harder than a police brutality beat down. Smack, smack, smack as all it took in a battle was a single turn, a single event to end up killing somebody or beating them in a fight.
Maybe. Just maybe, she'd be lucky, because she was looking to beat Camila's legs with every blow from that point.
