The quizzical look Shizuka was met with made sense. She had just unloaded a lot of information on this girl. What this told her was that Celes was actually a lot newer to this job than what was originally assumed. The Fullbringer shifted her weight onto her left foot and sighed. She didn't mean to say anything too confusing, but this would be a good learning experience. For both of them, actually. That, and it may serve Shizuka in the long run to make an acquaintance our of this Shinigami. The thought of it disgusted her, but she had done worse things with this race. If she could be involved with one the way she was a couple of years ago, she could do her best to influence one.
"Well..where does this leave us now. I suppose that with the way you view Shinigami, we can't pursue some form of friendship? Perhaps mentorship?..."
Mentorship?" Shizuka's eyes widened in surprise. Did she hear that correctly? "You want me to mentor you?"
That was unbelievable. Shizuka hadn't actually mentored anyone, like, ever. It was a foreign concept. People worked for her and alongside her but she was never their mentor. In truth, she didn't remember a time when she was mentored, either. She simply learned how to do things on her own and gained experience. Her analytical nature made it easier for her to do all of that, so it was never a complicated process, but it never occurred to her to have a mentor. Not even Satsujun could be counted as one. Not really. Plus, given Shizuka's position... Well, it didn't leave much room for her to ask anyone to be that kind of a person to her.
"I'm sorry. I'm just a little shocked, is all. No one's ever asked me that before." Shizuka blushed and fidgeted awkwardly. "If I do this for you, then you'll have to understand something. No one can ever know about it. You'll be shunned by the Gotei. You'll become a Rogue." The blonde looked up and down at Celes, essentially checking her out, though not in a sexual manner. "Although... I don't know. Being a Rogue may be a good look for you. But I think we can probably try. I may not trust your kind, but you've given me no reason to hate you. Just don't let anybody know. They're going to try to kill you the moment they find out that you're working with me."
That much wasn't a lie. Shizuka had a name throughout every world there was at this point. People knew about her. She had a very well-known profile. She kind of liked the infamy, but it would get her in trouble from time to time. This was one of those times. Celes, being new and quiet, likely wouldn't have much of a problem. But Shizuka was going to have to make sure no one ever saw them if they trained together. And if anyone did, then the Fullbringer would have to eliminate them.
