-Basic Information-
Name: Shihoin, Maka
Age of Death: N/A (born in the Seireitei)
Real Age/Age of Appearance: 81 (Appears to be in her late-teens)
Birthday (Month/Day): December 15th
Blood Type: B+
RP Sample (Optional): Flashes of red, white and blue adorn the dark, night skies above as the group of three settle upon a grassy hill, just beyond a myriad of trees that caked the path they took to reach this spot. A cliff just beyond the city in which they called home. The bustle of nightly activity below was naught but a dream as those people, too, found themselves mesmerized by the show. Although it was for a holiday that they necessarily didn't have, independence was something to be proud of. Especially for a country as a whole.
And thus, the fourth of July finds itself welcomed cheerfully in the otherworldly culture of Japan, people in a mold between colorful kimonos and dull yukatas staring awestruck at the fireworks above them. Festive treats are left untouched, but still coiled tightly about their fingers--some big and some small. Those who weren't holding onto food were holding onto a loved one, and well, those who weren't holding onto a loved one only had one thing held--their gaze.
As much as they enjoy it, the three upon the hill are vastly aware that they lack the necessary time to sit and enjoy things. The monstrous screech, left unheard by the festive individuals below, alerts the black-clad trio of figures, one tall, one short, and one medium-sized. Despite their differences, they share the common black robes that make them who they are, and assert their purpose in an other-worldly setting such as this.
"....Sounds like... the hollow is here."
"Indeed."
"Really? Let's go, then!"
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-Appearance-
Height/Weight: 5'5" and 108 lbs
Physical Description: Maka's most striking feature is the contrast between the shade of her hair and her skin tone. Her frame itself is caramel in color, finding itself darker than her platinum blonde tresses. She has the tendency to keep her hair itself up with a black bow or any other general hair accessory, as well as a red tassel; though regardless of what style it's in there's always one lock sticking upright. The Shihoin's figure is curvaceous and voluptuous in nature, whilst bearing somewhat of an athletic build thanks to common physical activity. Her backside and bosom alike are ample in nature, befitting of the well-developed frame she has.
Maka's eyes are a sharp gold in nature, either narrowed or wide based on her current sentiment. She wears an assortment of clothing, most commonly clothing that shows off the body that she considers herself gifted with. Her undergarments are almost always black, either lacy or standard in nature, and matching the open-heel leggings that go up to her thighs in most outfits she's in. One of her more common or "main" outfits so to speak is a kimono-like red dress that cuts off just past her groin, red in color for the most part, with a golden zipper and a crimson, one-inch thick border on each side of said zipper.
The chest-area of the outfit, naturally, covers her breasts in black fabric matching a small area beneath them. Far from modest amounts of cleavage makes itself blatantly apparent around this area, and beyond that Maka's neck is loosely covered by a red scarf matching the rest of the dress. The outfit itself is completed by black armguards fitted to makeshift warmers, made of the same material as her leggings, and stemming from her wrists to past her elbows, keeping her shoulders bare beneath the scarf.
Outside of her "main" outfit, Maka has a tendency to wear red and black the most, with a less common color being something like gold or on even rarer occasion, white. Most of this clothing tends to be less on the modest side, beit because of the openchested fashion to it, or even a skirt shorter than what could be considered reserved. Most of her formal clothing tends to be dresses that usually stay above the knee line, either black or red, and typically showing off cleavage.

-Personality-
Dislikes:
KAWADA FAMILY The power struggle between the Kawada and the Shihoin has made this essentially something sealed in stone for her. Even if there aren't that many left, the ownership they once held over the Onmitsukido has left them in a negative standing for her.
SHIHAKUSHOU Deemed as too standard and basic to Maka, she prefers more personalized outfits and clothing alike instead of following the norm.
THE COLOR GREEN She dislikes the color Green. Like.. really. There's not much else to it. It's just one of the less preferred colors she has, especially if it's lime/bright green. She can make do with something olive-ish or much much duller than a bright shade of it. Just don't expect her to do it in a pleasant manner.
HARASSMENT She doesn't really care about being ogled or looked at in the way she just might; her clothing preference assures that more than she has to. She doesn't like when things get physical, though, especially with people she garners no interest in having that be the case with.
BEING ARROGANT Contrary to her eagerness to show off her looks and what not, Maka dislikes the idea of arrogance, as well as people who take an interest in being arrogant. She prefers being confident in yourself over being absolutely full of yourself.
Likes:
PUNS They're brief and they're so cheesy and obvious that it's cute to her. Can't really go wrong with using puns around her, for some reason.
RELAXATION Nothing like just sitting there and lamenting about things, whether good or bad. Or just laying back and daydreaming. It's also a good reward after getting lots of work done.
PRACTICE One of the phrases that Maka liked growing up was "Practice makes perfect". She strongly believes that practicing something, whether you're good at it or you're absolutely horrible, can help you better yourself at what you focus on doing that for.
HONESTY Lying and beating around the bush is a waste of time. It's genuinely something that makes things easier for both parties, and she likes to advidly follow that mindset.
HER FAMILY Maka is naturally proud to be a Shihoin, and with that in mind she strives to keep her family successful. She accepts nothing less than the success that she idealizes for them.
COMPLIMENTS She likes feeling appreciated, especially if it's expressed in a compliment. This excludes derogatory ones.
HAVING AUTHORITY Means she has less people to answer to. This is beneficial to her because she considers it as a chance to have more freedom with her actions, and her daily agenda.
LIGHTNING Quick and damaging are two things she uses to describe Lightning. She likes the look and the defining traits of it in general.
SEA FOOD Sushi, fish, squid--you name it. She'll mostly eat any sea food given to her. Just don't give her anything with organs or eyes.
DRINKING Be it sake, wine and so on, drinking is a nice pasttime she likes to parttake in. Afterall, she believes she can only be held partially accountable for her actions while she's drunk.
Flaws:
BLUNT Can be considered a positive and a negative. Following the same thought that she dislikes beating around the bush, Maka prefers to say what's on her mind. This is especially bad when regarding authority and such.
IMPATIENT Maka has a great deal of impatience. Whether it's waiting for someone to show up, or for something to be said (refer to her initial flaw), she doesn't like dealing with it and has a tendency to try and actively avoid dealing with it. This also applies to fighting, or a situation where a fight is inevitable, which can often lead to her throwing herself into something she shouldn't be in.
LAZY Maka dislikes work. That's basically the gist of it. She has the tendency to do lots of things to evade work, too. Really just one of the several immature tendencies she has.
DRUNKARD Kinda obvious with one of her previously-stated interests. She tends to get drunk much more often than she should. Typically with disregard towards the potentially-embarassing results.
Habits:
DRINKING Established twice already. She drinks often.
HAIR AROUND FINGER She tends to twirl hair around her finger and look off to her left when she's thinking hard, nervous, or just in idle chit-chat.
"... MHM...." Usuallly used when she doesn't believe someone or wants to establish that she's listening to someone while doing something. Even if it's half-listening.
HUMMING A subconscious effort to stay calm when she's mad.
STORMWATCHING Tends to subconsciously stare up at the sky when it's rainy or stormy out. She wouldn't be able to explain why she does it if asked. Tends to do it when she's daydreaming.
Fears:
LOSING PEOPLE SHE CARES ABOUT Maka fears the loss of her friends, family, and anyone close to her above anyone else. She holds them close to her because they're the reason she is who she is, in her eyes.
NEEDLES She highly dislikes syringes and primarily small needles alike because of stuff like vaccinations and what not as a kid.
DEATH Despite literally being a Shinigami, one thing she fears is death. Mainly because she doesn't want to lose what she's accomplished, nor does she want to lose the people she's had positive interactions with over the course of her life.
Goals:
AWAKENING THE POWER OF HER ZANPAKUTOU Like most early Shinigami, Maka harbors the dream of awakening her Zanpakutou's Shikai, and Bankai.
MASTERING HER FAMILY ARTS Since assassination and stuff of that nature is in the family, she strives to learn and master it. She wants to make them proud, afterall.
CREATING HER OWN VARIATION OF TECHNIQUES She can't necessarily be good at everything, or benefit off of being good at everything. With that in mind, she wants to be able to emphasize what she's good at by making her own techniques that're based off of ones she can't really use personally.
Alignment: Neutral Good
Overall Personality: Maka is a fairly-relaxed individual, whether it's around someone she's never interacted with or her best friend. She likes to maintain a friendly aura about her so people will feel more inclined to interact with her, rather than trying to come off as intimidating. The Shihoin likes interacting with people and hearing about things that they like, as well as their goals and what not. All in all, socialization is one of the things that she enjoys doing in her daily pasttimes.
She commonly does her best to seem like someone who's understanding. Even if she cannot sympathize with someone's situation or hasn't been in the predicament someone else is in, that doesn't stop her from trying. The idea of understanding people is important to her, so she pushes herself to do just that. This goes against her distaste towards people who beat around the bush or people who are dishonest, especially because this just makes it more difficult for her to interpret them.
While she can interpret things quickly, Maka prefers to rely on blatant things more than she does figuring things out. While she can actually take the time to do it, it's already been established that getting things done quickly is her style. Chances are that if things just get extended past the length she likes them to, she'll just end up getting more agitated. And possibly less focused as a byproduct of that.
On the subject of things that annoy her, Maka has a short-temper. She tends to lash out, if mad enough, primarily if someone is attacking someone she cares about physically, or if her family is being insulted time-and-time again. Thanks to there not being too many cues for her anger, though, she's able to maintain a relaxed composure most of the time, even if she's quietly stressing over something. She keeps herself calm for the sake of those around her, who may be unsettled if she isn't acting calm.
In a situation where it calls for it, Maka can also have a serious demeanor. She knows how to properly conduct herself when the time calls for it, so even if she's displaying a far more casual side of herself beforehand, the Shihoin can change it on a whim, especially if it's for people she cares about.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-Powers-
Fighting Style: Maka is an abrasive combatant. She prioritizes getting the fighting done as quick as she may have to or as may want to in order to go back to doing what she wants. Despite this quick and aggressive fighting style of hers, she knows how to conserve her energy. Despite a desire to get things done as fast as possible, that doesn't necessarily mean she's willing to blow everything she's got on one person, unless things are extending far past what she wants to deal with.
With that in mind, doing things that can take advantage of her opponent's weak points is her niche. She likes being able to know the ins and outs of who she's fighting, even if it takes longer than it has to find it out. Having an advantage over her opponent is something she prefers, since it means she can safely figure out more about them while her abilities stay relatively in the dark. It's only when she's on the cusp of being overpowered does she actually try to step it up a notch with abilities of her own.
To put in perspective, a mixture between Hakuda and utilizing her Zanpakutou in its sealed state are her most preferred methods to start a fight out with. Things such as Kido are as good as benchwarmers for her unless she absolutely has to use them for her own good or her own safety. Seldom does she ever use them against an opponent that she doesn't necessarily have to burn that amount of Reiatsu on.
She also has a tendency to incorporate step techniques into her more close-ranged basis of fighting when she can't close the necessary distance with raw speed alone. Although she prefers to avoid using them in excess due to the sheer drain that they have on most shinigami, she isn't afraid. Like Kido, this is simply a benchwarmer to her primary combat reliance.
Zanpakutou Spirit Appearance(Optional):
Appears as a 5'9" woman that looks to weigh about average weight. She shares a significantly-less developed figure, and more of a sleek and slim frame overall. Her overall appearance matches that of in the picture.
Inner World(Optional): Maka's mindscape appears as a circular pillar of earth ascending high past the clouds, surrounded by other, smaller pillars. In her inner world, it's always a stormy night, with lightning constantly crackling down, thrusting past the pillars or sometimes even striking and destroying them directly, only for more to appear. Herself and her zanpakutou spirit are capable of forming more by sheer thought, but this is mainly just for flavor and for platforming.
The rest of the ever-expanding world usually leads to ascending pillars that lead to similar, wide circular pillars like the one that she appears on when entering the mindscape initially.
Zanpakutou Appearances:
SEALED Her zanpakutou in its sealed state resembles a dagger more than anything else, with a standard metallic blade and a black hilt. In this state, it also lacks a guard. The blade itself is around a foot in length, and the hilt is roughly six inches in length.
SHIKAI Upon having the Zanpakutou's name be called, the shape of Kirin's blade and hilt change drastically. The blade itself extends out in length to around two feet, curving near the tip of it. Kirin acquires a guard in this state, circular in nature, while the black part of the blade shifts to run along the dull side of her structure.
BANKAI The zanpakutou's blade becomes entirely black, and red starts to run along the center her the blade, glowing constantly. A broad, flat guard forms between her hilt and the blade, adorning the red and black theme, as does her hilt itself.
Zanpakutou Release Names(Include both Shikai and Bankai names, and call out phrases)
"Clap, Kirin." -- Shikai
"Cultivate a storm from by soul... Bankai!" -- Bankai
Overall Ability: Kirin functions based on using Maka's Reiatsu to take on the form of lightning. This lightning coats her figure in a layering of lightning from the moment she releases it, similar to Shunko in appearance. Sparks spontaneously flicker about, running along the released weapon's new appearance and coating it in the reiatsu, as well. Reiatsu Strength is used in tandem with her Strength for OS while active.
Kirin's release doubles as actual electricity, and as such, can be used like it. This allows it to be used in tandem with normal Reiatsu techniques require Lightning in particular, to further enhance them. This also gradually brings storm clouds into the area that it's been released, allowing natural electricity to be drawn in by the plethora of faux-electricity in one focal point. At a further level of proficiency, it can actively coat one's limbs in reiatsu, serving as an ornate cloak at a moment's notice and an enhancer to offensive capabilities.
Shikai Overall Ability: Upon being released, Kirin disperses electricity along Maka's general surroundings, and then gravitates toward the Zanpakutou itself, imbuing it with a small aura that constantly flickers with sparks. These sparks can be localised and run along the blade, to sharpen and increase the Zanpakutou's defense against other Reiatsu-based attacks, like stated prior. This in itself is based off of Maka's ability to utilize her Reiatsu well enough.
One serious cost of releasing Kirin is that the localisation of electricity makes her naturally attract lightning, making the danger of being struck by natural lightning much more prominent for her wielder, Maka. This can also be used to the Shihoin's advantage with a release technique that focuses primarily on converting natural lightning to one's own, allowing it to be used to empower Kido techniques of that element. So long as an electrical source isn't used with the basis of someone else's Reiatsu, the electric can be siphoned off by contact with the blade itself, even if it's natural lightning.
Bankai Overall Ability: Upon release, a column of the electricity thrusts up around Maka, up into the sky, in order to attract a massive storm. Once the flickering mass of Reiatsu has died down, it becomes localised along the blade, coating the weapon itself in a layer of the electricity. Sparks and bolts alike flicker outward around the Shihoin's hand, outlining it along with the rest of her body in a defensive cloak of electricity.
In Bankai, the weapon itself is almost constantly immersed in a layer of active Reiatsu. This functions as a much more powerful attractor for lightning than before, causing the attraction of storms and abnormal weather to be amplified. One of Kirin's particular techniques revolves around using this excess black electricity to extend the length of the blade, and unleash a destructive, widespread blast of lightning from it, dispersing its current along Maka's surroundings and making it dangerous, even for those that 'just barely' avoid it.
One obvious flaw in the Bankai itself is that while it attracts natural electricity and lightning, and can essentially absorb both and use them as its power supply, it cannot do the same for the wielder. The risks of touching the electrified blade personally is partially counteracted by the cloak of lightning that Maka receives, allowing her to become less susceptible to the electrical current.

-History-
Birthplace: Seireitei
Current Residence: Seireitei
Memorable Figures:
KIMIKO SHIHOIN Primarily because she's the leader of the Onmitsukido. And because she's a Shihoin--obviously. None the lesss, Maka looks up to her, and seeks her approval to a degree.
PARENTS Kind of a no-brainer. Her mother influenced her career choice and her father influenced her personality as a whole.
History:
Born into the Shihoin family eight decades ago, even to date Maka has been around far less than others. Above all else, Maka has always been known for her child-like zest and optimism, something that she's been coupled with even since a young age. Generally speaking, not much in Maka's early-on life was troublesome for her. She had two normal parents; Akemi and Yukio. She got her white hair from Yukio, as well as her lax tendencies and her ability to stay calm for the most part.
Yukio was always the less lenient parent when Maka was growing up. It was typically him taking the blame for something that she did wrong, though most of the time she did make it up to him. Sometimes he did discipline her, but that was always through verbal means, and it was only when she did something really bad. Typically, in those cases, her mother would've been the one spanking her until her ass was sore if she was the one doing the discipline in that situation.
As for Akemi, she got her impatience and her temper from her. Whereas her father's general appearance consists of dark skin and white hair, her mother's hair is moreso ravenous in color, and her skin is the same general tone as her father's. She got her mother's straight hair, so taking care of it never was really an issue. Akemi of course, was the parent that dealt with punishment. Usually in the form of spankings whenever the young Shihoin did something bad enough to warrant it.
Both Akemi and Yukio were generally good parents. They had three children before Maka; two boys and one girl, so it balanced out in the end. Maka's sister, Naoto, is ten years older than her, possessing their mother's black hair like their second oldest brother, Daisuke. Daisuke is about fifteen years older than Naoto, so while she's around 91 in present time, he's 106 years old. The eldest brother, Oshino, is thirty years ahead of Daisuke at 136 years old, and naturally, the most skilled amongst the four young Shihoin.
Being the baby of the family, Maka was typically the one that was spoiled the most by Akemi and Yukio---Oshino and Daisuke can certainly agree with that notion, as they usually dealt with Akemi's spankings the most back when Yukio just let her handle all of the discussion. Outside of their little bubble of usual family business, overall their cozy little group of six never really got associated with politics. Maka's mother was part of the Onmitsukido, but she rarely ever talked about it until the four siblings were much older.
She was the most involved with the politics, part of which she struggled with as a result of baton passing of ownership between the Kawada family and the Shihoin family along the course of the Onmitsukido's existence. It's for that reason that much later on in life when Maka did finally get told about a bulk of her mother's occupation, that she wasn't a fan of them either. Afterall, they were partly responsible for nearly putting her mother out of her main occupation---something that she actually started looking up to far later in her eighty years in the Seireitei.
It wasn't until about the age of 65 that Maka took an interest in the Onmitsukido, which by then she'd known about thanks to her mother for about 15 years. Among the four children, she was the only one among them that wanted to follow in her mother's footsteps in terms of occupation. The other three seeked out different various squads that were mostly coupled with their own personal tastes. With Maka as the only among them to really want to engage in the more family-related occupation, Akemi's attention was invested into her.
Over the course of the next sixteen years of her lifespan, she was aided in preparations. The main issue with her late preparation was the sense that she never really honed herself physically. What time wasn't spent just trying to study what she needed to know was focused on improving her physicality as a whole. Getting faster--learning to use her reiatsu more efficiently. Fundamentals like that became a daily part of her life, eventually setting her on the mindset she needed upon settling into heading directly for the Onmitsukido as her career choice.
