It wasn't surprising that his attack was blocked. No, it was expected. Luke didn't attack in a way that had been meant to bring Yetsuna down. If she went down from that attack it would have been her own fault. Yes, it would have been a sign that Luke had far outpaced Yetsuna but it would not have been a satisfying one. What Luke wanted was to fight. He wanted to bring Yetsuna, and himself, to each other's very limits. Intertwine themselves in the heat of combat. Luke wanted to show Yetsuna how far he had come. He wanted to impress her. He wanted to surpass her. Luke knew that, if push came to shove, he could have beaten her with the aid of his Dolls. If he chose to summon Springflut and Jäger in their natural forms, then their combined might would overpower Yetsuna and her earth control. But that wasn't what he wanted. He wanted Yetsuna for himself. He wanted to show her, with his own hands, how far he had come.
Sparks flew as sword met sword. Luke realized, in that clash, that even with his own increased physical strength Yetsuna was still coming out on top. Hmph. She had a lot of muscle beneath those boobs. It made Luke happy. Meant he still had a challenge in Yetsuna. He never expected this to be easy. But the more difficult victory was to achieve, the more satisfying it was when you finally had it in your hands. "If you think I'm fast now.." Luke replied softly, his words interrupted by Yetsuna pushing him away with her own strength and the granted leverage of her sword. She was able to push him yes, but it certainly didn't throw him off balance like she wanted. As Yetsuna brought herself into position to kick, Luke saw the sudden movement of her leg and recognized the kick instantly. His experience in the fighting ring had given him plenty of opportunities to fight against other martial artists.
What Luke did was simple. He ducked. As her leg came upwards to strike his arm, Luke leaned himself backwards a little to allow himself to duck underneath her kick. But he didn't stop there. While Yetsuna's leg travelled through empty air, the Bount moved towards Yetsuna's now exposed flank that resulted from her kick. As he moved forward he'd turn right, swinging his Zanpakuto upwards in an attempt to slice through the back of her thigh before retreating backwards. With Yetsuna having devoted herself to the kick how would she respond to the sudden sword swing coming from beneath her?
Luke, retreating, wanted to play it safe rather than going all ham right away. But he knew that retreating from Yetsuna wasn't the wisest idea. Her long sword had more of a reach than his Zanpakuto, which meant that Luke would need to get much closer than she would to rengage with her. If he threw aside the fear any sane person naturally had of being cut to ribbons by such a weapon, and went in smart, he could do it again and again. Once inside her guard, Yetsuna would have trouble using her sword against him. But there was also the matter of her earth manipulation. Fighting on the ground like they were was giving Yetsuna way too much home field advantage. But if the Shinigami resorted to using her earth against him, he'd mark it as a personal victory. "Is the goal to get laid?" Jäger asked. Hush.
