Spicing It Up (Yetsuna STT, PG-13)

Yetsuna made her way through the squad 3 barracks and training area. She could feel eyes lingering on her, some from desire, others from curiosity, and a few from disdain. She had been transferred in from another squad, squad 11 to be exact, so some of the people here had their reservations about her, she didn't know them or this squad yet, so she hadn't earned their trust yet. It was a valid complaint, but it was something easily fixed with some time, they already knew she was strong enough to be in her postion considering she had already beaten over half of them in training match in a single afternoon.

She ignored the glances for the most part, they weren't doing her any harm one way or the other, so unless someone tried to do something no point in worrying. A few twists and turns and Yetsuna found the training area for her new division...and it looked a lot like the one she had back at division 11, guess the training areas were standardized or something, that also might mean her spot was here too. The dirty blonde made her way to the outside section of the training area and there it was, her favorite spot, a large boulder located in one of the corners, though the stone wasn't exactly the same one has squad 11's, but hey you can only ask for so much.

With a small up she'd get on top of the rock and stick her blade into it before plopping down on her rear and beginning to focus, "Ishioooo" she'd call out in her own mind like someone looking for their lost friend. A few moments of silence, but surely enough he'd reply, "Yes? What is it?" he'd ask in his business-man like tone of voice, he may not hate her anymore, but his voice still hadn't changed much, no inflection what-so-ever.

"I had some idea's on some things I wanted to work on with you, might help us a bit in fights." A pull on her mind and Yetsuna found herself standing on a cliff overlooking the town that was her inner world, "Such as?" "Well, what if instead of just summoning earth, I could do something like using the stuff at my feet?" she sounded kinda like a business woman trying to pitch an idea to some investors. "You can already do that...." An annoyed look went across the dirty blonde face, he knew what she meant he was just being a pain in the ass, he least he had SOME sense of humor now.

"Yes, but it breaks too easily, what if I could make it like earth you let me make? Stronger and actually able to be used in a fight?" The stone king brought his hand to his chin in a thinking manner giving off a small "hmmmm," while he thought. "Doable. The concept is easy enough, but the execution might take a bit of practice." "Oh c'mon when I have shied away from a training session?" "Fair enough." And like that they got to work.

Ishio gave her a general outline oh how her idea would actually function in combat. Overall it was very similar to what she did to summon the stone, but instead of channeling her reaitsu through the armor, she would force it into the earth under her. Simple concept that was actually surprisingly difficult to pull off effectively. Doing it wasn't the hard part by any measure, the problem they were encountering was actually efficiency. It did take much reaitsu for her to summon large qualities of earth, but trying to convert just a 20 foot area was draining her like crazy, and that's saying something for someone with as much energy as her.

After what was about 2 hours in her inner world, and god knows how many in the real world, she fell over huffing and puffing, her brow and hair both drenched in sweat. Fuck she was tired. Ishio loomed over her his face as stoic as ever, sometimes it was hard to remember that the guy actually had the ability to express emotions. "Well you have the concept down, but the conversion rate is terrible." "You....don't say?" she huffed out between breaths her exhausted condition evidence to his obvious statement. "What...can we....do about it?"

"It has been getting better as time's gone on, so I'd just say keep practicing at it." Yetsuna groaned at his response, she liked training, but wearing herself out to the point where she couldn't move wasn't something she liked doing. "You'll be fine," he said in a tone that was almost like a father chiding his daughter. Suddenly Yetsuna would feel pressure against her back as Ishio began to make the section on earth she was lying on rise up so she was on her feet again. She groaned again as she was forced to her feet, 5 minutes man, was 5 minutes too much to ask? With the amount of reaitsu she had burned so far most other people would be unconscious by now, and he still wanted her to keep going? Oy vey.

In a way she had kind of asked for it, she wanted a new power and this was the price. With a resigned sigh she took up a typical fighters stance, nothing special just something comfortable and easy to focus in and began to pool her reaitsu. Yetsuna, even as a vice captain, probably had some of the deepest reaitsu reserves in the gotei and she was well used to blowing through it like crazy because of how she fought, but even she wasn't used to this amount of drain and focus. 

With a slow exhale she began to channel her reaitsu into her environment, namely the stone at her feet, picturing several things at once while she did. The first was simply a mental image of her reaitsu flowing into the earth beneath her, stretching out and expanding in a circular pattern with her at the center. The next was kind of an odd one, but she pictured some molecules, her earth, mixing and interacting with a weird deep green light, her reaitsu, until they had become inseparable. Finally she just pictured herself manipulating the earth that she was trying to create.

It felt kinda weird to be picturing things like that, she was much more used to a "grab-n-go" routine, she never needed to focus this hard to use her powers. As she finished expelling the last of her reaitsu she'd open her eyes upon hearing a thoughtful "hmmm" from Ishio, "What?" she'd ask knowing something was on his mind, not that he was trying to hide it. "That one seemed to have actually worked quite well. What did you do differently?" She shrugged, "I dunno. I just kinda pictured a few things in my head this time that I wasn't doing before."

"Well it was quite effective, your conversion rate was on par with when you summon, but that's not all," he took his right hand out of its hiding spot in his left sleeve and made a rising motion with it causing a large diameter section of earth to rise out of the ground. "You managed to make it out a good distance as well, about 65 feet, fairly impressive actually," even his praise was delivered in that no-nonsense business man tone, Yetsuna sat there wait for the "but" in his comment.

"I know you can do better though," annnnnd there it was. Yetsuna fell onto her back with a solid "thunk", "Lemme get some rest or something first before you throw me back into this," she moaned. She was surprisingly sore physically from all this excretion, she could feel most of the muscles in her body aching, "Who knows, maybe once I've had some rest I'll do better." It was a thin argument, but it was the only one she had to try and take a break, thankfully the stone man gave in.

"Very well, take a short rest and regather your strength, there's still much work to be done," the latter half of the comment was directed mostly at himself though Yetsuna would not be aware of it. While he had watched her train he had had a few ideas of his own that would apply to the powers she was trying to get. He took a few strides away from the girl to go think about how best to execute his intentions, and by the time he looked over his shoulder the girl was already clocked out. She was so tired she forgot to get out of the armor.

Yetsuna began to stir from her nap after a few hours and raised herself to a seated position with a groan, yeah sleeping in full plate didn't do much good for her back at all. With almost precision timing Ishio walked up behind her, his figure casting some shadow on her person, "Sleep well?" "Definitely had better, not sure how many worse though," she said partially joking as she began to get on her feet. Once at her full height she tried to brush of some of the dust and dirt that had accumulated on her armor while she had slept, but failing because her hand were armored. Metal on metal doesn't tend to clean very well.

"Got your energy back?" "Wouldn't say I'm at 100%, but I feel better then before," she said as she tried to stretch a few muscle groups that had stiffened while she slept, after a few twists and turns she felt a few joints pop and she let out a satisfied moan, that's what she was lookin for. "Then shall we begin again?" "Might as well, not like you really have food or anything to eat," she say before pausing, "Wait, do you?" "No." Eh there went that hope, she was in her own soul and for some reason she was hungry, why would she be hungry here? Maybe it was time to eat back in the material world?

"Do what you did before again, I tried a few things myself while you slept and it should yield some results if everything went well." "What did you do?" she asked interested. "Nothing you need to concern yourself with, just focus on the task at hand. Now try again" he said dismissing the question to Yetsuna's pouting look, not much point in trying to pry, she doubted he would talk even if she tortured him. "Oh, fine be like that," she said sticking out her tongue pretending to be mean when she really didn't care too much either way.

Yetsuna took a deep breath in and began repeating the steps from earlier. She closed her eyes and began gathering up her reaitsu and funneling it through her feet into the ground below her. She imagined the reaitsu mixing in with and becoming apart of the earth beneath her spreading out far and wide in a circle. Lastly she just pictured her being able to use the earth she had just infused with her reaitsu like she would in combat. Then she felt the ground shake which threw her off her balance.

Her eyes quickly snapped open as her arms flew out to her sides to keep her balance, "The hell was that?" she'd ask the only person around, his response simply being "You." "What do you me....oh," she found herself cut off by realizing she had accidentally caused a huge amount of earth to rise out of the ground creating a high wall around them. "I don't think I've actually managed to use your powers on accident before," she half laughed, "How did I managed to do that?" "You were focusing too hard." "Wait, you can do that?" she'd ask surprised. "Yes."

Yetsuna would strike a thought pose, focusing to hard, there are some words she'd never think she would have heard in her life, then it hit her, "Wait, how'd I do this time?" Ishio turned to her with a small smile of approval, oh dear god the world was about the end wasn't it? He was actually smiling at her? What? "You did well, even better then before, I think you finally managed to get it down." Did she really? She didn't feel as tired as before, and based on the radius of the circle she made she should haven been tired as hell.

"With just a bit more training you should be able to do this as easily as you summon the earth. That can be saved for another day and on your own however. For now I think we can call this sessions concluded," did she actually detect a hint of pride in his voice? Seriously what the hell was going on with him today? Did she need to call someone to get him checked out? Yetsuna didnt have much of a reply to what he had said so she just gave a casual shrug and said, "Alrighty, until next time then," and with a flash of white she was back in the seireitei.

She started to stand and found her muscles as tight as new piano strings, dear god how long had she been out here? To answer that question her stomach let out a groan telling her she had probably missed at least two meals, which might help explain some of the fatigue too. After a few second of struggling she managed to get on her feet and take her sword out of the stone and putting it back in its home across her back and shambling off to the galley to go get some food. Jesus she hadn't been this hungry since she was a kid in the Rukongai.

As a note, I do not believe that this is enough actual development to justify Zanpaktou changes, but I will leave it to Kento to decide, as he is the one handling it. This is merely my consulting opinion.
