Meeting The Captain

When Hotaru felt Sylvia take her hand, she would quickly pull up to help the girl up. She would give her space, stepping a few steps backwards. The dragon heads growled lightly, moving their heads down to where her hands were, which are by her side. She would lightly pet their heads absent-mindlessly while she listened to what Sylvia was saying. Sylvia was looking her dead in the eye while she spoke.

It seemed that she finally realized how much of a difference a Bankai is compared to a Shikai. It is a whole new step of power that many don't get to see. She was lucky enough to have this level. She didn't mind showing her Bankai off, since she never really gets to use it. It's like stretching your legs after sitting for a long time, at least that's what she thinks of it is. She frowned slightly when she said that she knew she didn't have a chance in beating her so there's no need to try.

She did want to reach this level of skill at some point, but Hotaru didn't like how she was just giving up after seeing a powerful enemy. Hotaru would then keep her face straight and stood up straighter, trying to exude her Captain-ness. "Sylvia-chan. You are in the defense division. There will come a day when you have to face enemies that are stronger than you. What will you do then?

Will you just say that you give up and then just stand around then as well? You would let your squad mates go and fight for you instead of helping them in the fight? We DEFEND Soul Society with our strength and if need be, our lives. You have to be willing to put everything on the line to defend what you love, even if it's much stronger than you are. You must learn to be strong Sylvia-chan. I will give you another chance to try to hurt me." She stood there, waiting for her response.

Sylvia was in shock, on how her first time, seeing a powerful ability like Bankai really was. Could she really gain that type of power? Well, only time could tell. Sylvia would see her captain starting to stand up, trying to look more like a captain would. As she would speak down to Sylvia. Sylvia was asked a question, but she didn't know what to really say. Facing enemies who are stronger and her. Then wouldn't it be best to send someone else? Or leave to find someone that can handle them? Well, Sylvia would look up to face her captain, trying to think what to say, As her captain was still speaking with her.

Sylvia didn't know what to really say, why fight till the end if you would just end up dying? It was no enemy in her mind. That a captain couldn't handle. Hollows were strong, but to a captain's ability, they could be humans without any type of power at all. So it was hard to understand what her captain was trying to say. As she was asked to try once more and hit her again. "You what me to try and attack you again? But you're not an enemy trying to destroy us?" Sylvia would think about it, as she would calm down. "Okay, I will try once more." It was not any easier, but she did need to think and gain this type of power for herself one day.

Sylvia would start to stand up once more getting ready to start fighting her again. As she would get a better hold of her sword once more. She didn't know the best way to fight her right now. Kido was unless, and that only left her sword. That could cause any type of damage. As she would use many flash steps one after the other. Trying to make it hard for her captain to keep up with her. She one is in one place and in the next second. Somewhere new, but on the last one Sylvia would be ready next to her captain. As her sword came down ready to crash with the dragon's head. Slashing with her sword. With full strength.

It seemed Sylvia didn't understand. You fight people stronger than you to get yourself strong. You do that with spars and such, like this one. It seemed that she didn't understand the meaning of fighting to the very bitter end with the odds stacked against you. It's what someone does when they protect the things they love. She would do it for her family, her division, her husband....and she knew they would do the same.

Well, she knew the rest of her squad would, but she didn't know about this one. Did she understand that anything you love is worth protecting with your life? If all you do is run away, then there's no point in living. This one would have to learn the hard way, more than likely, what she meant. Hotaru learned a VERY hard way about that with her now husband. Life was definitely interesting for her now.

She then said she would try to attack her again. Hotaru smiled slightly at that. She grabbed the handles of her two whips and they flashed back to life, writhing around her and ready to attack. She watched the girl use the step technique to get around the area. With her mastery, she was able to clearly see where the girl was at all times. Right before she would strike her, Hotaru used the Mirage step. She would move fast enough to get out of the way of the strike.

With this step technique, however, she would reappear in the same exact spot. So, while Sylvia would be trying to slash her, a mirage would appear and she would fall through it. Hotaru would come back quick enough to actually catch the girl if she needed it. She would look at her. "You fight against stronger people so you yourself becomes strong. You fight till the end for the things you love, like Soul Society and your family."

Protect the thing you love. Sylvia never really could understand that she does love her family, but it is cold and uncaring. Her father doesn't pay any attention to her, and her brother is known to be hated, but he is never around. Her mother was the only one that paid any type of attention to her at all. As Sylvia came down with her sword. Hotaru would move just in time. It was like Sylvia was hitting an afterimage. She was really this fast, well it wasn't that shocking if you think about it. Her opponent was a captain level soul reaper. It was no chance Sylvia could beat her in any area.

As Sylvia was about to fall. Her captain would grab her giving other words, of wisdom. "I will fight people stronger and me." It was not like she wouldn't fight anyone that was too strong for her, she did it all the time, but she just didn't see any way of winning in a fight against a captain level soul reaper. She would stop for now, as she gave her captain a sign of respect giving her a bow. "I will Hotaru-sama, but we both know. I would be no match fighting someone of your level. You are the captain after all, and I am a new member that just put into the squad."

If her captain was not a noble, Sylvia might dislike how she lost, but because. She is one. It made Sylvia feel a little better about losing. "I am okay losing this battle, you are a noble. I don't need to feel bad about losing to someone else with that rank." Sylvia just said it. How she thinks nobles are stronger, and will grow stronger, because they have more talent. A true noble will reach the stregth they wish for, faster and someone who is a commoner. That is how Sylvia thought about power in the soul society. She would one day, reach the level of her captain.

Hotaru nodded her head in agreement with her statement. Fighting stronger opponents was, in her mind, the only way to get stronger. There could be other methods, but this seemed like the best way. She bowed in respect, saying that she was no match for her because she was a Captain-level shinigami and she was a new member. Hotaru was a little annoyed with how she said that. It seemed she didn't understand what she was saying.

It was what she said next that really annoyed Hotaru. She said that she didn't feel bad losing to a noble. It was 'okay to lose to someone of that rank.' ..........Wow. She had met several nobles in her time, and some thought themselves better than others, but this...... Hotaru thought that this was a new low. Hotaru balled her fists and unleashed her spiritual pressure out without check, immediately shoving Sylvia to the ground.

She would glare down at her and the dragon whips started to snarl at her. "WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU ACCEPT DEFEAT FROM A NOBLE?!?!?! THERE ARE CAPTAINS STRONGER THAN ME THAT AREN'T NOBLES!! DON'T PUT YOURSELF ON A PEDESTAL IN MY DIVISION JUST BECAUSE YOU'RE A NOBLE! WE ARE EQUALS HERE! CHANGE YOUR ATTITUDE NOW!" Only then did she seal her blade and storm off, needing space from her newest recruit.

Sylvia did think noble's had a higher chance of getting stronger, but it was not like. She thought. She was better and all none nobles, many of them just don't raise up to the same level. As people who are born into power. Sylvia knew one day, her strength would go up, but matching a captain was many years away, but something would change about the captain. Sylvia was not sure what happened, why is she some reason getting mad with her? Out from nowhere, Sylvia felt a powerful spiritual pressure, as she hit the ground without being able to stop the force for even a second.

She would worry as her captain was mad. Hearing her say, not to put herself above anyone just because she was a noble. "I......." She heard the dragon whip snarl at her. As she didn't say a word, with her captain walking away. With Sylvia still on the ground from her spiritual pressure. "I didn't mean it like that, I know captains are stronger and me, but........ Us nobles are higher class and them...... Don't you think the same Hotaru-sama?" Sylvia didn't even try getting up. It was just too strong, as she was being crushed by the might of her spiritual pressure.

Sylvia didn't know what more could be said about this. "I don't see why your getting mad, from the way I think. It's not like I push around none nobles, it's not like I do anything to them. I just don't wish to pay any attention to them. What is wrong with that." Sylvia would say waitting to see if her captain would change her mind. Sylvia didn't think the way, she thought was wrong, maybe a little inside, she did, but that is the way. She was raised. Her father could pays attention to people that gain the rank, and attention to hear his words. Sylvia would try her best to get up, trying to break the spiritual pressure of her captain.
