Takashi looked up at the overcast sky. He stood in place with his white shinigami academy academy robes. As he looked to the heavens with his crystal colored eyes. The gems in his eyes looked at the small water droplets that fell upon his clothes. He let out a soft sigh as he surveyed the area in front of him. The land seemed normal enough, grass present all around. However, the grass was patchy, earthy areas of soil was present all over and exposed. Looking forward Takashi saw a rather large temple which was in the traditional japanese style. He had heard rumors that strong fighters would come here waiting for others to fight.
I should probably be relaxing on my day off..but I want to get stronger. Its always been the same with me, ever since the orphanage. I always want to find someone stronger to fight so they know I exist...probably not a healthy way to live. -sigh- oh well, I really hope someone is here though, its been a while since I came back from human world. There were so many fighters there, here, I don't think its the same case
With that, Takashi made his way towards the grounds until he stood 15 feet away from the opening of the dojo. Looking in, he noticed the wooden floor boards that seemed rather new; it was unusual. The rain slowly came down in droplets now as Takashi stood in place; Asuchi strapped to his red waist band. Letting out a soft sigh, he looked around, his expression cold and emotionless as always.

Hotaru was walking around Soul Society and getting somewhat bored. After her intense training with the Vice Captain, she knew that she had to get stronger. But, if felt like she hadn't really met anyone recently who was in Soul Society that she wanted to face. She had tried to get stronger on her own, but knew that it would be easier with someone to fight against. It would train her mind as well as her body.
In her ramblings, she ended up in Rukongai. She had never really been in the Rukongai district for very long. Once she passed on to Soul Society, she had spent some time in Rukongai. But, once she knew about the academy and learned of shinigami, she immediately went there to learn and train to become a shinigami. She had never really explored the place. She decided she might as well, she could run into someone.
She continued walking for a few minutes until she saw a temple. It reminded her of the temples her and her father frequented while she was alive. There was a section in these temples for training. She thought it was good luck for her to find something like this here. She started walking towards it. Once she got closer, she noticed there was someone standing there.
She walked up closer to him. He looked like an academy student. She was curious why he was out here instead of the academy barracks. She walked right next to him. "Hello student, my name is Hotaru Wakashi. What brings you here?" She felt the rain come down very lightly, but she waited in the rain to hear what he had to say.

I wonder why I felt like coming here. Perhaps what the man said before was a foolish tip. Strong warriors coming here to fight might be a long shot. Ah-ha...well it seems like this was wasted time. I might as well train here though, it might be nice to see how that ends up progressing..
Suddenly however, Takashi was able to see the feint outlines of someone walking to him. It was strange that someone would wander here when there was a bit of rain that could cascade into something greater. Standing with his arms out to the side and his head looking towards the side he noticed a female walking towards him. Perhaps she too had trained here as well.
As she approached him, he turned towards her without saying anything. Oddly, the look he gave to her was that he gave to everyone else; a mix between emotionless and bored. Blinking a few times, he listened to her as she greeted him, asking him why he was not in the academy. Takashi was confused for a moment, until he realized what he was wearing that perhaps confused her. The strange white clothing of the academy was his formal wear; perhaps he should stop wearing it due to the confusion.
He simply subtly bowed to her in a respectful manner and then slowly rose up and began to introduce himself. He hadn't seen this woman before so it would make sense that he should go ahead and tell her who he was. It was also interesting that she wore the shinigami attire, it couldn't help to be friendly towards people; even though most people weren't so friendly towards him.
"Hello Ms. Wakashi, My name is Kuchiki, Takashi. I am an unseated officer from the Gotei 13. I am sorry, it seems you have confused me for an academy student due to my attire."
He said politely before turning to face the dojo. He blinked a few times before turning back to her.
"To answer your question. I am here to train, I heard a rumor that strong people gather here to fight; I came looking for said strong people...perhaps you may be one of them? It has been quite a while since I've been able to spar with this Asuchi strapped to my waist. You wouldn't happen to be interested, would you Ms. Wakashi?"
He said as he spoke to her in a calm manner; his look unchanged.

She watched as he bowed to her before he spoke that he wasn't actually a student. He was an unseated officer from the Gotei Thirteen just like she was. She hit herself mentally for just assuming that he was a student. She was told to never assume anything, but it got the better of her. Oh well, she knew she would never make that mistake again. Then, the name hit her. He was from one of the most powerful families in Soul Society. She hit herself even harder. No one does that to the Kuchikis.
When he said he was here to train, it made her feel better. She was hoping to train here as well. He asked if she was interested in training. She looked back up at the building and it brought back fond memories. She knew it would be good to train in a place she had trained at before. She looked back at him and noticed that it seemed like he didn't really care what her answer was. But, from what he said, it sounded like he would really like to have a partner in the training.
"I'm sorry Mr. Kuchiki. I didn't mean any disrespect and I didn't mean to assume. But assuming can get the better of me sometimes. I was actually in the mood to train right now. So, I would love to be able to spar with someone else. I need a strong person to spar against and I hope you can help me get stronger.
She bowed respectfully after she talked and waited to see what he would say.

Takashi would have let out a smile if he didn't feel his old emotions to be useless. In soul society, he had to remain as focused as possible. Any slight mistake could cost him, like it did back in human world...like with Keiko. He mentally shook his head, brushing aside the thoughts as he was now looking at another woman whom was speaking to him respectfully. He blinked a few times as he looked towards her; his emotion of course remaining all too calm.
He felt as though the woman felt she had done something wrong. The way she spoke him was polite, but it was completely different than before. It was even stranger that she called him 'Mr. Kuchiki'. Normally, this wouldn't be strange, but it was a complete turn around from her previous mannerism. He stared at her blankly for a moment more before speaking to her calmly.
"Please do not be fooled by my name Ms. Wakashi. I am Kuchiki by name but I was raised as an orphan. I only adopted their mannerism because I have been accustom to detachment from emotion for quite a while now. There is no need for you to call me anything aside from Takashi. As for your assuming, please do not mind it. It is quite logical that a man wearing this attire be an academy student. Above all else, there is no need to treat me any differently than when you first approached me."
Takashi said. He truthfully didn't have any arrogance in him. Rather, the way he spoke and acted because he was a shinigami now. There wasn't any need for him to have such human emotions. The problem with these emotions were that humans lived such short lives...they needed to experience these things. However, Takashi grew up not knowing these types of emotions. There was only a long time ago where he felt love and loss. Now however, he clears his mind in order to fight the hollow.
"Now then..you spoke about wanting to train yes? Well, I would love to have a match with you inside of this temple here. It seems like it will be drizzling soon enough. It isn't wise for either of us to stay outside while this happens. Let us go inside and begin out match."
With that, Takashi made his way into the temple. He stood at one end, facing the other end of the room. He drew his Asuchi and placed it into his left hand, holding it out to the side. He looked the same, emotionless and bored towards the side he assumed the opponent would be on.

She watched him as he responded to what she said. It was nice that he could just called him by his first name. It made things a lot easier. Even though he was an orphan, obviously the Kuchiki family saw something in him to make him one of them. It made her feel honored to fight one, even one adopted into them. It also made her feel better that she could be more normal around him.
He then suggested going inside the temple. She thought he must be a mind reader because she was going to say the same thing. It was never good to get caught in a rain storm. She nodded her head in agreement and watched as he went inside. She looked up at the sky, watching some of the rain. She knew that she had to get stronger, to show Kagami-senpai just how strong she could get. She steeled herself as she finally walked into the temple.
Once she got inside, it reminded her of the temples that she was accustomed to. It brought back fond memories. She then looked in the center of the room and saw that Takashi was already ready for an attack. He had drawn his weapon and was waiting for her. He then asked if she would like to begin. "Yes, I would like to begin and you can call me Hotaru. You don't need to be formal with me either."
Then, she unsheathed her zanpaktou and centered herself. Then, she charged at him. She got close and then did a simple slash attack at his midsection. She hoped that she would be able to hit him, but not badly. This was supposed to be a simple bout. She didn't want to seriously injure him.

The Kuchiki stood a good distance from his opponent, nearly 15 feet. His eyes followed the female shinigami as she made her way to her corner. Blinking a few times, he looked at her with his head tilted. He didn't show any emotion as she spoke, however, he did really enjoy the fact that she seemed to take a liking to him being so informal with her. It appeared as though she had a tendency to speak to authority with respect, which was a good thing.
She seems focused and ready for battle, this is good. I'm not sure why but she seems very willing to fight. I suppose most people have the same goal as I do, they wish to get stronger. My goal is to fight everyone whom I can and successfully win the bout; this battle will be no different. Regardless of class, character, color, etc.
He thought to himself to prepare himself for what was about to come. His eyes watched as she spoke to him in a way that was reassuring and calming. It seemed the two at least broke the formalities and initial pleasantries and were speaking in a friendlier way. Takashi gave a nod as she spoke, to show that he understood. It would have been rude of him not to respond to her either so he figured he may as well say something; though it lacking enthusiasm as always.
"I see, I shall refer to you as Hotaru now, thank you for allowing me to do so"
He said in a respectable way. His eyes then began to focus on her as she began unsheathing her Zanpakuto and took a fine stance. It seemed as though she had been experienced enough to have gotten her weapon and was obviously of higher class than he was. However, Takashi didn't seem to mind at all, his focus was simply on what she would do next. He remained calm as she began to rush forward towards him.
Takashi noticed that the woman was slightly faster than him, it wasn't by much but it was not insignificant either. As such, he had to prepare his attack in advanced. He stepped out with his left foot and raised his sheathed Asuchi in a 45 degree angle in an upwards curve; turning his body clockwise as well. As the sword crossed the midline of his body, the upper middle of the sheath stuck Hotaru's exposed sword; stopping it in motion.
Takashi didn't say nor do anything as it was stopped; Hotaru's sword a few inches below where he gripped his sheathed Asuchi. The sword had pushed his hand back a little, it was only a few more inches to cut him. From here, he delivered a nearly horizontal thrust with the bud of his sheath towards Hotaru's mid section, near the top abdominal.
{OOC} In case that didn't make sense (b/c I get wordy! Sorry!), it was basically blocking your sword with the middle of my sheath and then thrusting the end of the sheathed sword towards your mid section.

She was happy to see that he was going to use her first name now too. It was the first steps to making a friend and maybe even a good ally or rival. She was very pleased about it. When he thanked her for it, it seemed odd to her. All the authority figures she had known, which weren't as many as she thought when she actually thought about it, never thanked subordinates for anything. It was nice to see that some in the higher classes were actually kind to those of the lower class.
When she did her attack, she was surprised by how he reacted to it. Meaning, she never would've thought to actually do that. He was able to stop it with his sheath. She was somewhat impressed that he used it in that manner. She will have to catalog that away for future reference. It seemed that he only took a few seconds to think up a counter attack.
He then horizontally thrusted the butt end of the sheath at her. She was able to move off to one side to avoid the attack. But, right after she made her quick dodge, she struck. During the dodge, she moved her right arm up and the struck downwards into what would look like a downward slash. Right before it would hit the mark, however, she flipped her wrist and made it a right to left horizontal slash across Takashi's chest. It was the one move that she needed to practice to show Kagami-senpai that she had gotten better at it. She hoped that the sword would hit the mark she wanted.

Takashi eyed the woman who seemed all too enthusiastic for battle. Her demeanor was that of a hardworking shinigami who wished to test her skills. As Takashi jabbed out with his sheath, the woman reacted accordingly. He watched as she dodged to her right, it was an interesting move truth be told. Immediately, Takashi took action, he already had a plan in motion and wouldn't waste time.
Pushing forward with his left foot, he cut the air using his reaitsu to propel himself diagonally in a 45 degree angle at high speeds. Arriving near the corner of the rectangular mat that was near the edge of the room. He turned around as he looked towards the woman who seemed to be faster than him. He was foolish, he had taken her far too lightly, he wouldn't make the same mistake again.
"I'm sorry, I have taken you quite lightly as of yet. It seems as though you have good movements and you are good in battle. It was wrong of me not to draw my sword and instead seem as though I could have defeated you without it. It seems I'll have to draw upon my sword now and give you the respect you deserve. Please accept my challenge"
He said as he grasped the handle of his sword with his right hand. He drew the weapon, the metallic sheen of the Asuchi emerging. Takashi moved the sword to his right hand, gripping the katana in the middle. With his left, he flipped the sheath and bent his wrist, as though he could hold it to back his elbow; the bud sticking out at the end. It was time that Takashi begin his real fight with this woman.
The white haired shinigami rushed forward towards her. As he got close within striking distance, he turned his body counter clockwise, stepping out with his right. Simultaneously, he brought his left hand closer to the center of his chest. Takashi was semi diagonal, his feet at a 45 degree angle as he slashed out horizontally with the katana, the intent to cut into the middle of Hotaru's left arm.

She watched as he was able to dodge using his reiatsu from her attack. It was very impressive. She had never seen anyone do something like that before. She would have to ask him how he did that. With that attack, however, he ended up all the way at the end of the mat. The blast was a lot stronger than she thought.
Then, he said that he had taken her lightly and thought that he could beat her without the use of his sword. He said he was going to draw his sword now and give her the respect she deserves and to accept his challenge. It kind of rubbed her the wrong way to think that he thought he could beat her without the use of his sword. She knew she was still a newbie, but she figured she wasn't that weak. It made her all the more ready to fight him.
She watched as he got into a stance using sword and sheath. She had always wanted to try to fight like that. She definitely needed to get in touch with him after the fight to get some pointers. Next, he rushed her. She quickly got into her stance and took a deep breath to ready herself. When he got close, she watched as he stepped out, spinning counter clockwise, to slash at her left arm.
"I accepted your challenge when I entered the temple Takashi." She said this while she jumped up to avoid his slash. While in mid-jump, she gripped the sword with both hands, right on top since she's right-handed. While landing, she slashed down towards him for an overhead slash. While landing, she hoped that the slash would hit or at least catch him off guard. She was curious to see how good this shinigami really is.

The bright eyed shinigami inspected the woman who seemed to have strange eyes as well. His slash, while his staggered left foot and upwards right foot made a 45 degree angle. With the sword cutting horizontally, however, before his slash even got to Hotaru, she jumped into the air to avoid the slash. Takashi did not waste any time as he rose up his left hand which was backed by his sheath up over his head; supporting it.
His arm was resting on his head, and his wrist was bent, sheath lining his elbow; he was ready for the attack. As Takashi's slash continued, he stopped his own momentum as he was 35 degrees from where he needed to cut. At this point, Hotaru would be descending towards, slashing downward. Takashi now, would slash once again towards the right horizontally.
As the woman had jumped, her speed was only relevant to her take off. She would have clearly have had to jump above his height to avoid getting any cut by the sword if she had jumped upwards. Takashi was analyzing everything as their fight was getting more and more heated. As Takashi slashed horizontally, his intent was to cut through her feet, most likely towards her lower thigh or upper calf muscle depending on how she came down; if she had bent her feet or not.
The horizontal slice was aimed in one motion so she would continue falling and be unable to fully balance on her feet. However, there was also the perspective of Hotaru coming down with her vertical slash. Takashi would feel her katana smashing into his katana. Though it was only wood, it would be able to bare the weight of her attack, most likely cracking under the pressure of her hit.
All the while, Takashi's intent being to slice the woman to give him the clear advantage; he was no longer playing any games. The man focused fully on his battle and his eyes reflected it. It seemed his attack was meant to do a great deal of damage. The man didn't wish to end the fight like this, but he said he would go all out. When a warrior said they would fight at their peak, he was damn sure he would do so.

She watched as Takashi made his moves. She thought that jumping up would be prudent. It turned out it wasn't. She told herself next time to be more careful with her decisions in battle. But, since she couldn't change anything now, she watched as the end of the fight was unfolding.
Her sword did hit him, but only in the sheath of his sword that he had kept in his left arm. To her dismay, the sheath didn't even break. It was just cracked from where her sword had struck it. She didn't know that sheaths could be that strong, but she filed that away. Next time they fought, she would be more careful of that sheath that he used in battle.
Next, she felt his slash hit home. She had no way of getting away, since she only knew Shunpo. With Shunpo, you have to be grounded. Since she was in the air, it was no help to her now. Once she felt the blade slice into her, she was in so much pain, it almost clouded her vision.
The next thing she felt was her back hitting the ground. Her body almost felt numb. There was so much pain, she could almost say that it was blocking each other out. She just looked up at the ceiling of the temple. All of the memories of her father came back during their training. It was points like this he would pick her back up and start over. But for this, there was no do over. She felt the blood leaving her legs and prayed that she would be able to survive. She knew she couldn't get up, but hoped that her enemy would be kind enough to help her in her time of need.

Takashi's eyes widened slightly as he saw his sword had connected with it's target. There's was a flash of light, turning the figures black momentarily. Then came the thunderous roar of the lightning which filled the area. At the same time, the snow haired shinigami noticed the woman laying flat on the floor. He was confused for a moment, but then realized his hit had connected.
He looked at her and at the gruesome scene as the rain now was pouring outside. Takashi's face had some blood sprayed upon it. He opened his mouth but no words came out, he had gotten too serious it seemed. He took a breath yet his hand was still shanking. He quickly sheathed his blood ridden sword and rushed to Hotaru. Grasping her he knelt down.
"I'm so sorry! I have gotten out of hand with my last attack. I will take you to the medical district right away!". He said urgently, his voice shaking a bit. Oddly, even I'm this situation, Takashi's eyes didn't change from their usual bored and emotionless state. Perhaps it was how he grew up, most emotion and eluded him for so many years.
Takashi placed his sword back in his waist band before continuing his care. He took off his shirt and ripped it I to two. Kneeling down, he quickly wrapped the bloodied areas tightly as to avoid excess bleeding. Grasping her severed body parts in one hand, he lifted her up onto her shoulder if she allowed. The woman would have to wrap her arms around his neck and he would have to support her with the other hand, making a place for her to sit.
He waited to see if she would climb up and if they could get moving. "Please go ahead and grab on Hotaru. I am sorry this happened but I assure you that you will receive the best care possible. You will indeed be alright, you simply needs to grab on and we can depart. Takashi spoke to her as his crystal eyes looked down upon her. His heart began beating in his chest, he was nervous, but he didn't lose his composure.

She heard what he had to say, but honestly, she didn't know if she could respond or not. The pain was so intense. She was grateful that he was helping her. He wasn't as cold and heartless as he appeared to be. She looked up at his crystal eyes and said, "Yes."
With as much strength as she could muster, she was able to grab ahold to Takashi. She was able to barely shimmy around in his arms for the seat he made for her. She grabbed on with as much strength as she could muster. She could feel herself starting to lose consciousness. But, before that happened, she was able to utter one final phrase, "Thank you."
