Circumstances: Zakuto was stalking a soul that had gone astray. A kid soul that looked about 9. Just as he as he was going to attack Hotaru showed up.

Hmmm this would have to do. As he was out looking for prey Zakuto had found a child. Yes a little boy's spirit. This little boy would do for roughly only one hour. It wasn't enough but prey is prey. A predator never gives up on the hunt. Prowling the rooftops of Karakura, Zakuto watched the little boy. Waiting.... Waiting.. Until the right moment to attack. The little boy had stopped to rest after taking a late night walk. This was the time to attack! Zakuto jumped down from the rooftops into a dark alley and strode silently towards his prey.

[Hotaru Kuchiki-Masurao]

The gate closed behind her and she found herself in this somewhat familiar city. She was getting to know this city a little bit better every time she came here, which was fairly frequently. She started to walk around the streets, trying to sense anything. Every once in a while, she would look through some of the windows, seeing what people wanted. It all still looked weird to her, but whatever they want she guessed. It was during one of these 'window shopping' as the humans call it moments when she sensed it.

She immediately jerked her head up. She felt the hollow reiatsu pretty clearly. She was surprised that this hollow was on the rooftops. Most hollows she had learned about preferred to stalk in the streets instead of the rooftops. It didn't matter to her, she was still going to get it. She immediately jumped to the rooftops and ran following the reiatsu. It seemed that this hollow was following someone to the outskirts of the city. Smart for the hollow, but it made it a little harder for her to run fast enough to try to keep up with him. 

When she reached the area, she looked around. She noticed a small boy's spirit and figured the hollow must be stalking him. She didn't see anyone, but figured this hollow was in the shadows. The reiatsu jumped off the roof, so it had to be stalking from the shadows. She got in front of the child's spirit and jumped down from the roof. The child was startled, but she quickly explained what was happening. Before the child could protest, she gave him a Soul Burial. She then turned to the shadows. 

"I know that you're here hollow. Show yourself. I am ready for you."

She got in her stance, sword drawn, ready to attack.

"Oh you showed up just in time Soul Reaper. Would you like to accompany me for dinner?" Zakuto was delighted to have a stronger prey to eat. He was grinning like crazy. Even better, he knew he had the upper hand. The Soul Reaper had even revealed that she couldn't see him. This should make it fun he thought happily as he climbed up the side of a wall. Zakuto planned to have the first attack.

Because of his claws in extra length and sharpness Zakuto could dig them into the wall. Thus being able to sprint across it. While doing so Zakuto was near enough to attack. His first thought was to bite. Reaching stretching out his neck in pursuit he missed by three inches. "Damn!" He cursed.

Coming back around for a second assault now... But he had already stepped into the light. Too late for regrets now! Nearing the Reaper again he planned to strike her legs to cause a fall. Almost there, just a little further... now! Zakuto skidded to a stop and swung his 3 foot long tail out towards the Reaper's legs hoping to hit them.

Hotaru heard the hollow speak. It seemed that most hollows are pretty full of themselves. Even though the shadows were dark, she knew that this hollow would be nearby. She glanced through the shadows, waiting for a movement that would give his position away. She heard claws dig into the wall of a nearby building. She know knew where he would be coming from.

She watched as a huge tiger darted out of the nearby shadows. It missed her by a few inches, verifying that it was indeed a new hollow. She held her ground as it rushed by her and she heard it curse as it missed. She assumed that in the next pass, he wouldn't miss. It stopped its attack and came back around in the light. Since it was already seen, it made sense that it just stayed in the light. It already missed a somewhat 'surprise' attack.

She got to see that the coloring of this tiger was completely different from what she's seen in books. She always had a thing for cats, she had many while she was alive. She could see the majesty of the creature, but knew that it was an enemy. All hollows had to be stopped. She watched as the tiger came at her again. This time, he used his tail, which had huge spikes, to flick out at her legs. She moved her blade down to block, then diverting the momentum to send its tail away from her. Next, she struck out at him, hoping to hit him in the midsection.

Deflected... by her Zanpakuto. Sending his tail flying into the wall. Now a blade about to slash his left flank. Pinned against the wall of an alley. He didn't know know of to react. Too late, the blade had connected with his side causing blood to spill out. "Ahhhhhhrrr!!!!!! Cursed Shinigami!" Wow this Reaper was fast. Out of rage Zakuto jumped to the other wall while smashing his tail into the other putting holes into it.

Then dropping down in front of the Soul Reaper. "I see, then we will settle this equally." Zakuto growled. Watching the Reaper he decided that he had the size but not speed. So he needed to corner her. But in what way would he be able to? Taking steps towards Zakuto sent his tail crashing into the walls. He would have to get a bit messy.

Trying to make the walls weak by smashing his tail into them. That was part of his idea. Then while she tried to dodge debris he would attack from the shadows and clouds of dust. It was foolish a foolish battle plan. But he had to eat something soon!

Pieces of brick were starting to loosen. Dirt was everywhere in the air. Now was the time to attack. He know the reaper would most likely swing her sword at his mask no matter what though. Or so he thought she would. Leaping at the Reaper Zakuto roared. His tail extended in front of him swinging around. His tail was to act somewhat as Offense and Defense. It was to attack and block her Zanpakuto. When her blade had connected with the end of his tail he would land on her or bite her.

She watched as she connected with her blade and heard the hollow curse her again. It was interesting to have a hollow curse at her. She readied herself again, knowing that the hollow would keep attacking her until she defeated it or it ran away. It then seemed the hollow had some kind of plan against her. She guessed that it planned to try to take her from behind or do something of that nature. She would never allow it.

Where the hollow landed, she saw it start smashing up the buildings. The humans would be pretty dumbstruck to see what happened to the buildings. They would be even more dumbstruck to try to figure out what did all the damage. She watched as the hollow jumped out from the debris with his tail in front of him. It was a good idea to use it as a buffer between it and her. She knew that if she blocked it, she could be disarmed. She decided to just avoid it.

When she saw it come close to her, she ducked down. The tail completely flew over her head. Just before it completely flew past, however, she slashed straight up, hoping to hit the tail and sever it completely.

She.... ducked down to dodge him... Trying to cut his tail off. He would never allow such a thing. Zakuto stretched his tail over his back causing the Reaper to miss. That was close. Very close, but he wouldn't live to see the day his tail disconnected from his body. This Soul Reaper was quick, very quick. Catching the reaper of guard as she still had her arm raised his tail went flying into her towards her back. As he landed he was shaking an but from that close encounter. After this Zakuto was sticking to forests.

Seeing that the plan didn't work Zakuto work just need to attack and keep his guard up. This Reaper was a formidable opponent. She has speed and intelligence. But does she have strength? If he could disarm her she wouldn't be able the counter his mass. He could crush her with his tail and then devour her. Yes! devour her, Zakuto hadn't forgotten his hunger. In fact renewing this thoughts gave him strength. Once he got rid of this damned Soul Reaper he wouldn't have to worry for a while. But he'd have to finish her first.

A new plan was made. Yes, attack the arms. First he had to regain his balance. Then his confidence surged inside him. Now he sprinted towards the Reaper. As he discovered earlier she would try getting his tail. Zakuto wouldn't stand for it! As he kept sprinting he was close enough to strike. Sending he tail out at her forearm.

She saw that she was able to spook the tiger hollow pretty badly. She could tell she was stronger than it, so she was curious about what it would come up with next. The hollow was even shaking. I guess it had never had a close encounter like that before. It was interesting to see this hollow. It was the first that she had encountered and she assumed that this was a new hollow. It saddened her that no shinigami was able to get to it in time. But, it happened sometimes. She wanted to make sure it happened less often.

She saw that the tiger came at her again, with its tail. It aimed for her arm, maybe the forearm. Well, she thought she would do the same tactics again. She was able to easily avoid the attack and before he was able to dodge, she attacked its tail. She was immediately able to sever the tail from its body. "Well, I don't think you'll be able to do that again." She got back in her stance and waited to see what the hollow would do now.

Damm she was going to get his tail. He was wrong about her. She easily dodged the swing if his tail and was now about to sever it. Although it WAS going to happen it wouldn't without him having a say in it. As she swung her arm to get his tail he reached up and pierced her skin with the unnatural claws that his paws possessed. But she his tail was still cut off.... He removed his claws and backed away. Zakuto was in shock for 3 seconds at the most. "YOU'LL PAY FOR THAT!!!"

Now filled with even more hate and anger Zakuto jumped onto the wall. Pushing himself to the limits Zakuto jumped from wall to wall going after the Reaper. Then at a very close range he leaped off the wall. Flying towards the Reaper probably about to die. But before he could be killed he slashed his claws wildy through the air. In hopes he would cut her. Zakuto was very desperate to win.

She watched as her blade found its target and sliced clean through the tiger's tail. What she didn't forsee was the retaliation. She watched as her blade hit home, its claws hit her arm. It was unexpected, but as soon as she felt the pain it receded. She put her hand on her arm and watched as the tiger seemed to be in shock. It wasn't for very long, but she could still tell it was there. She guessed it didn't believe that that would ever happen. She looked at her arm quickly and saw the wounds weren't fatal.

She hoped to staunch the bleeding somewhat but she could tell the hollow was too pissed for that. It landed on a wall then started wall jumping (jumping from wall to wall) to get to her. When he was fairly close, he jumped at her. She saw that he was trying to just get at her. She assumed that it had never met with a shinigami like her before. While he was coming for her, she was already in her stance waiting. When it got close enough, she ducked, allowing the tiger to almost jump over her. When its face was about mid-way up her body, where her sword still rested, she thrust upwards. She was aiming directly for its mask. Hopefully, this would be the end of this fight.

Yet another failed attack... This fight needed to end somehow. But it wouldn't be by the death of him. She seemed to be aiming for his mask? That just wasn't possible to hit from under him. She did manage to hit him once more though. This time it was his chest. "Raaaaaaaaa!!!!" Zakuto roared

Headed straight to the other wall Zakuto kept his claws unsheathed. He planned to make a run for it. Zakuto impaled the walls with his claws for the last time. The walls had been broken up earlier and were very weak now. Almost ready to make the buildings collapse. Running up the wall Zakuto started his escape.

As he reached the rooftops he jumped. Sailing across the air just as one wall fell. He landed on a different building and started sprinting as quickly as he could. Hopefully the Reaper would die from the debris. Then he could come finish her off. "Until next time Reaper."

[Hotaru Kuchiki-Masurao]

She was able to hit him, just not in the area she planned. She didn't time it correctly, so she hit it in the chest. She watched as the hit connected and the hollow let out a pain-filled roar. She did get some of the hollow's blood on her. But, it didn't bother her that much. She was just glad it didn't end up in her mouth, eyes, nose and ears.

She stood back up and watched as the hollow went straight across to another wall. It started to run on the walls and then up one of them. She watched as some of the walls of the buildings started to collapse. Thankfully, she was able to avoid the debris that was falling around her. She made it up to a rooftop of a building nearby that wasn't affected by the tiger's attacks. She watched as the hollow ran off and heard it say "Until next time."

She watched and said, in a loud voice that it could hopefully hear, "I'm sure the next time we meet, it will be the same!" She followed its reiatsu until it left the human world. She then continued on her patrol.
