Maria's shot hits its mark-- a perfect center of mass shot. The rebel lurches and staggers as the shotgun blast tears open his shirt. It's clearly a bad wound, but despite staggering, the rebel doesn't seem phased, and he stares with bewildered eyes at the group firing on him, as though he had only just noticed their presence. Aar-Ek's own bullets sail through the space the woman was running through, denting the walls but failing to hit their mark.
The guard nearest you takes aim at the charging woman with his lasgun and fires a single shot at her.
The shot catches the woman along the side of her face, leaving a large burned streak, but it does not deter her, or her colleague.
The man, now facing you, begins to run headlong at you, covering more than half the distance between himself and the guards incredibly quickly, brandishing his club. The woman tears into close quarter combat with the guard that shot at her, driving her knife at him.
Her bladed weapon drives down, and seems to find a gap in the guard's armored body, as it slips in. You see the guard noticeably flinch as the knife goes in.1-100d10+3d100+101d5+3

Assured that no horribleness was about to go and slaughter them from behind, or so he hoped, Lanric joined the fight. Upon arriving at said fight, he noticed that the door to the worker's quarters were wide open, flanked by guards. Lanric didn't have much time to dwell upon the fact, though, since there was a bleeding fight going on! The Arbitess- Maria, blast his mind, her name was Maria! Maria landed an impressive blast on the man assulting the unconscious guard, and Aar-Ek's shots missed the woman. She plowed into a guard, stabbing him, while the one Maria assaulted started to run at them. Not trusting himself to not accidentally hit the guard, Lanric decided to shoot at the man running at them.
Inhale, take aim, fire, exhale.
Lanric recited as he did the above in order. It was an old exercise the Drill Abbots, well, drilled into his head. It was supposed to help with nerves and the like, and it did. However, with the way he was moving, Lanric wasn't sure he would get a good shot off on the man.
Just as Aar-Ek's shots had, Lanric's shot pelted the wall behind the charging assailant, missing him entirely. The second guard, seeming to be ignoring his comrades plight, took aim at the assailant charging at him.
The shot hit the target square in the chest, and actually causes him to stop in mid-run, his eyes bulging and a tremendous gasp escaping him, as the blast knocks the wind out of him, as well as leaving a severe burn in addition to the wound Maria had dealt him.d1001d10+3

Good, that plan had worked like a charm. Not only had her shot ensured that the man wouldn't attack the poor unconcious sod on the ground, it had also softened him up enough to be almost taken out by a las shot. Now all that was left was to handle the woman who had just stabbed the guard with her cutlery.
Maria took a few steps closer to the two of them to localize the scatter effect of her shotgun as much as possible, and then fired at the woman.

Dang. The semi automatic fire had all gone wild, missing the target completely. Rather than miss again, Aar-Ek decided to take his time and aim rather than just take random shots. One bullet was far better than three if it hit. Focus, son of Aar... Your family name can't be sullied. You are but the second son, an unimportant son, but you are an Acolyte. Focus, and take down the heretic!

Unfortunately, as Maria launched her shot, the guard inadvertently stepped in the way and was caught by her blast, staggering briefly. His flak vest held up well to the blast, but he was clearly at least winded by it. His assailant was completely fine.
Aar-Ek, however had a much cleaner shot this time. The brief stagger in his opponent's movements proved it. His bullet zipped through the air, and smashed clear through his adversary's nose. His eyes bulged as blood wept out from them, and poured from his mouth, ears, and where his nose had once been. Not that you would have much of a chance to notice it as he was blasted off his feet and collapsed in a bloody heap, where he had previously stood, right beside the charred corpse of what you can only assume to be his companion.
In response to the woman's assault, however, the guard she was attacking had drawn out his own club to defend himself and made a brutal swing at her torso.
His blow connected quite solidly with her left hand. There is a horrendous snapping sound as her thumb juts out horribly from the rest of her hand, clearly completely shattered. The hand itself is quite mangled from the blow and doesn't appear to even be usable anymore.d100d10+3

Blast, missed the shot! Focus! Breath in. Steady. Take a step forwards. Fire. Exhale.
Though he had missed the first shot, and mentally repremanded himself for doing so, Lanric didn't let it put him off his stride. He pointed his weapon at the woman, stepped forwards, and fired.

As Lanric's blast hit the woman, she seemed to spontaneously combust. From the point she was struck, a spark ignited, covering her body in flames, and extinguishing itself just as quickly. Nonetheless, the damage was done, and she collapsed to the ground, little more than a charred corpse.
--Combat has now ended--
So there the three of you were. An unconscious guard, an injured guard and three corpses lying on the ground. The woman dropped her knife as she fell, and both Maria and Lanric would take note of a very peculiar fact. The 'knife' was not a knife at all. It seemed to literally be little more than a glass shard. Blood covered the length of the weapon-- likely the woman's from clutching it tightly to use as a weapon.

Aar-Ek's hands shivered more than his voice usually does as he reloaded his weapon to a full clip and slipped it back under his robes. So... this is what it feels to kill in the God Emperor's name... It's... scary... But my resolve will hold. I am an Acolyte of the Holy Inquisition, and a Novice in the God Emperor's Church. I will stand strong, and I will overcome. Now... if I can only stop shaking...
Aar-ek fumbled with his gun, trying to fit it in the holster effectively. He eventually managed to get it in, but not before the other two Acolytes clearly saw his unease. He had tried to conceal his fear and his trepidation at just killing a man, but he just wasn't talented enough, nor lucky enough. His stammer increased as he murmured out a few words. "Sh-sh-should we ch-check the bod-d-dies?" Whether or not Lanric or Maria wanted to get their hands dirty, Aar-ek felt that it was his duty to check the man he had killed for clues, while keeping his senses open for any possible ambush from another source.
You find little of value on his body, besides the club he was clutching, which appears to be of the same make and design as the ones that the guards on the ship used. In fact, from a glance he appears to just be another worker here. Lanric would, in fact recognize the man, despite the blood covering his face, that he was one of the three workers he'd noticed preparing for their shift on the way to the Control room. What is especially peculiar is that the man was also completely unarmored. You find no identifying marks on him, besides that he is quite clearly Voidborn.

"That was. . . easy. Too easy. No tactics involved, no use of ranged weapons, clubs and shards of glass for weapons, surely they could procure better weapons than those, at least, and no kind of armor to speak of. Hmm. . . Wait. What the. . ?"
Lanric frowned and crouched down, and wiped some of the blood off of the man's face. He had seen him before! Briefly, albeit, but he had seen this man before. It was. . . it was on the way to the control room, he was a part of a group of three workers! They were all voidborn, he recalled. His eyes widened as the implications reached his mind. Three workers, three assailants. He turned to his companions and spoke.
"Aar-ek, Maria. I've seen these this man before. He was a worker, along with two others, whom I happened to glance at while we were being led to the command room. If I'm correct, the other two dead here are his companions. All three of them were Voidborn. If these other two aren't them, then that means there are two more running around here somewhere."
Lanric stood back up, and walked over to the corpse of the woman, and picked the shard up, examining it. It looked like nothing more than a broken shard of glass. However, it was bloody, and probably not just from the guy she stabbed it with. It looked like, since she was clutching the glass so hard to use as a weapon, she was shredding her own hand. Lanric's frown grew more worried. Along with the screaming. . .
"Aar-ek, did you find any marks on his body, other than the ones that were blasted in to him?"
Please let me be wrong.
He didn't even want to think of the possibilities, or the implications, of Chaos being involved in this uprising.

Aar-Ek looked up from the freshly dead corpse, shaking his head. It would be a relief to Lanric, hopefully, but what came next would seal the relief. "I d-d-didn't find anything besides the shots in his face. Want me to ch-ch-check again?"

You both notice that a door is across the hall from the unconscious guard, (who is currently being tended to by his two companions). There is one or two las-shots on the door frame. Lanric will recognize it as the door that he saw the Voidborn workers in as they passed earlier.
Maria and Lanric need only take a quick glance at the position of the guard to the door, to work out what likely happened. It was quite likely the guard was jumped by all three of them as they came tearing out of the door, hence why he was disabled so quickly, despite his superior armor and equipment-- and likely better training. The door has been left wide open.
Maria had initially missed the starting conversations due to some quiet apologies to the guard for shooting him. Now that that was done, she was actually taking a look around at things, noting the fact that the cutlery the woman had been using to fight had been just a sharp shard of glass. "Workers, Lanric? That means that there will be some sort of records on them, which could help us ferret out any potential connections."
She then tip-toed around the guard on the ground, taking a look at the las-burns on the door. "Hmm. Short firefight began here. Our downed guard presumably got jumped by the three of them at once. Common underhiver tactic to use against enforcers, though in Gunmetal there's more guns involved and not any improvised cutlery."
She would turn to the others, a slight smile on her face. "Of course, that bears asking one question: Why do this just as representatives of the Left Hand of the Emperor are coming on board? Furthermore, does the rebellion know that the Inquisition has stepped in to help the cogboys clean up this mess?"
She would look over towards the other guards after that, thumbing to the open door behind her. "What's that way?"
One of the guards turns to look at you. "Those are the workers quarters. Excuse us." They seem to be in a bit of a hurry to get their comrade to the medical bay, hoisting him up, an arm around each of their shoulders as they start moving him along down the hall.
As they leave, it isn't long before you can hear the metallic clank of bionic limbs on the ship's metal floors. Somehow managing to get surprisingly close to you, there is the member of the Adeptus Mechanicus, and this time he is accompanied by an older man. The man accompanying him appears to be middle-aged, and has a very thin build, with pale skin and blonde hair. A guy who, in sharp contrast to Aar-Ek, looks like he's had to fight for ever meal. There is a strange feeling about him, and he has a staff in hand, and a sword on his belt.
"I'm pleased to see you are alright. Forgive me Acolytes, I would not have called you here if I had suspected the rebellion to have reached this far." The Adeptus Mechanicus told them. "If you would like, I have managed to arrange you transport to one of our main Manufactorums, the place where the first signs of the rebellion were recorded. Of course if you would like to investigate here, that is more than acceptable." Maria and Aar-Ek notice there is a tightness around his lips as he speaks, and get the impression this is the sort of man who hates the unexpected. And this attack was certainly very unexpected.
