Test of Might (Zieg and Shade Joint CTP Thread)

[Zieg Revolver]

Ding, ding, ding, we have a winner! As Shade's blade entered the vital point of Point, it was halted suddenly inside of him. What, had Point blocked the attack from the inside!? Impossible... yes, impossible, Point had not blocked the attack at all. Shade had timed the attack perfectly and the attack had scored home. In fact, it scored right into the targeted point of his body, but something inside of Point had halted the blade from penetrating through, something much tougher then the metal Shade could see on Point’s body. This did not matter though, Shade had hit where he had to, sending the android back against the floor several feet away from him. “Excellent blow, Third Seat Shade Kawada, death from critical severity to the heart.” Point’s metallic voice ranged out as he kicked back up to his feet? What, no kill animation or reenactment? Lame. Shade would be able to notice that the lights on Point were now back to normal, indicating he was no longer in combat mode. Zieg only did one thing. Clap…clap…clap He performed three, spaced out, claps, his grin unchanged as he nodded once in approval. “As I expected, though I doubt you will be facing an arrancar that is on your level, the only ones we will have to worry about are the mid to higher tiers.” Zieg stated, obviously speaking of their enemies, then suddenly the grin off his face had departed, his attention being drawn to the entrance to the dojo. If Shade turned, he would see that it was another shinigami, an unseated one, kneeling down on one knee before the two. “My apologizes, but the captain commander has issued you, Vice Captain Zieg Revolver, Third Seat Shade Kawade, to eliminate a group of hollows located in the forest of Rukogai.” The shinigami explained to his two superiors. “Ah, finally, haven’t performed a slaying in a while.” Zieg smirked suddenly, his zanpakuto having returned to a sealed state several moments ago as he took the sheath that contained it from his outfit and rested it against his right shoulder. “Come, lets go let loose.” Zieg eagerly stated before speeding off out the open dojo door, in which Shade would more then likely follow so he could quench the thirst of blood for his zanpakuto.

It took the two shinigami several minutes to reach the forest, in which there were already signs of the hollows having been there. A couple dozen trees were completely gone, having either been uprooted or blasted completely from their roots. The trees and grass that was still there were scorch, indicating that one or some of the hollow must be a fire type. Other then that, there was not much evidence of what these hollows could do, possibly the o9nes who left the evidence were the leaders of the group. Zieg did not stop moving though, only taking note of the area before continuing onward inside of the forest. Several moments past, not a single sign of a hollow anywhere. Could they have moved on? Wait, no, something was wrong, Zieg had halted in a circle of trees, his left hand at the top of his held out zanpakuto, his head not moving but Shade could assume he was only looking with his eyes. "That’s going to be a problem…” He responded with a vicious grin, then suddenly slid backwards next to Shade, assuming he was standing back rather then to the side.. Why was this that he had moved back? Because the spot where he was at previously had just been crushed by four, towering figures. Their height was one and a half times taller then Shade's, a large cross shape horn on its face. The hollows were a quite large, standing upright, and looked similar to a Heracles beetle. They were covered in a dark blue exoskeleton, the most notable feature is the large, pronged horn protruding out of their forehead. They had two antennae with spherical tips to the sides of the horn, and elliptical eyes with yellow scleras. They also seemed to be well armored, having small spiky extensions on the forearm segments of its exoskeleton, their skin looking metallic like, and two claws on their hands. Each had a single spiky extension on each thigh, and one pointed toe on their feet.

“Two on one, I enjoy these odds.” Zieg grinned, unsheathing his zanpakuto swiftly as he tossed the sheath down into the belt that tied his uniform together. The hollows split up, two intercepting Shade while the other two made a beeline straight for Zieg, who engaged the two in head on. They had not shown any kind of particular ability to them, not yet anyway. Zieg was ducking and rolling to avoid blows from these beasts, slashing in retaliation but managed to slice into their chests and shoulders at least once, grinning maddeningly. Thick, dark purple blood spewed out from their wounds but they seemed unaffected by this, continuing to try and crush Zieg with vicious punches and stomps that nearly cracked the ground, showing that they were quite strong. While Zieg was dealing with his opponents, Shade would have to deal with his. One of the bettles dashed on ahead of his ally, slamming his fist down at Shade with surprising force. He would have to use his shikai to absorb this blow and counteract it for him to continue the battle, for if he took a direct hit to the body, he would be sent into a critical state

The sword plunged through the android’s chest, but stopped as it reached the robot’s core. “Excellent blow, Third Seat Shade Kawada, death from critical severity to the heart,” spoke Point in a voice that sounded pre-recorded. It seemed he had won. However, Shade still felt that victory was not attained until he left the other one broken and bloody lying on the ground. Point was still standing. Something inside Shade wished to break the piece of hardware before him. However, his thoughts were broken by the voice of his lieutenant, “As I expected, though I doubt you will be facing an arrancar that is on your level, the only ones we will have to worry about are the mid to higher tiers.” Shade turned his head and glared at his opponent from only moments before. He had let this one off the hook without shedding blood as well. What was he becoming?

Shade said nothing to the man he wanted to kill for the sake of taking his position. Before either could say anything else, an unseated shinigami burst in, bowing before the two before saying in a hurried tone, “My apologizes, but the captain commander has issued you, Vice Captain Zieg Revolver, Third Seat Shade Kawade, to eliminate a group of hollows located in the forest of Rukogai.” The unseated shinigami bowed again and left after he gave his message. Zieg spoke up again, “Ah, finally, haven’t performed a slaying in a while. Come, lets go let loose.” Shade simply nodded solemnly. The san-seki hadn’t said a word for a few minutes. He was certainly not the most talkative shinigami.

Shade followed Zieg as he took him out the door and to the forest. Shade observed the destruction that the hollow had caused and kept Buraindo Kira slung over his shoulder. He paid attention to the type of destruction. There were burns indicating that at least one of the hollow could use a fire type ability. It wasn’t long before Zieg stopped in the middle of a clearing. It seemed he had finally sensed the hollows that Shade had been feeling for the last five or six seconds. The third seat’s senses were much more acute then his lieutenant’s and he didn’t say a word as his vice captain leapt back next to him. In an instant, four large creatures dropped directly in front of the two shinigami. They appeared insect-like and stood well over 8 feet.

“Two on one, I enjoy these odds,” said the lieutenant with a grin. Shade observed the four with a callous expression. It was clear that they meant to do battle with the two soul reapers. However, Shade was certain they bit off more then they could chew as he slid his immense zweihander off of it’s place across his shoulders. “GYAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!” screeched Buraindo Kira, “MORE SACKS OF BLOOD FOR ME TO SIP DRY!!!” Shade glanced at the two hollow that had chosen him as their opponent. They didn’t look like anything special. In an instant, one of the hollows in front of Shade charged him and threw a powerful punch down at the san-seki.

It was a simple maneuver. Shade twisted his shikai so the blade faced away from him and swung it over his body in a massive arc that would cleave the hollow’s entire arm in two as it flew down at Shade. As the hollow’s blood touched Shade’s zanpakutou he got a much needed boost of stamina that would keep him fighting a bit longer. Immediately after Shade completed his uppercut arc he pivoted backwards and regained a defensive stance. No doubt the hollow would be screaming in agony.

[Zieg Revolver]

There was a reason why the beetle's skin had seemed to be metallic in nature, and Shade was about to find out. Upon contact with the creature's skin, a vibrating ringing sounded echoed through the area, his blade immediately halting against the hollow's arm and keep it at bay, the two in a power struggle. So there was a reason that the beetles seemed metallic; they were armored! Of course it wasn't hierro, but it seemed that these hollows had an ability to be completely passive ability to be made out of steel, or at least their outer skin. This spelt trouble for Shade since he, even with his oversized blade, would have to step up his game if he wanted to defeat the two hollows. Maybe if he looked for one, the male shinigami could find a weakness on the beetles and exploit it. While the first hollow beetle was trying to force its fist through Shade's shikai blade, the second one leapt over the first, a loud buzzing sound coming from its back. Two, glass-like, wings were busy flapping in a blur of movement from two oval-shaped open shells on its back. There was one weakness Shade could visibly see but he would have to deal with their attacks first. After leaping over its comrade, the second beetle hollow nose dived at Shade, aiming its large cross shaped nose at the top of Shade's head to crush him into the ground.

Meanwhile, if Shade were to notice, Zieg was having little trouble with the hollows he was fighting. In fact, he seemed to be even stronger and faster then when he fought Shade! His movements were nearly a blur, dashing away from the hollow's powerful downward blows. Could it be that Zieg had been holding back against the 3rd seat? It had to have been so, that was the only explanation for the sudden increase of strength and speed. When the two had fought, they were roughly on even ground, even though Zieg had resorted to kido it seemed. Maybe he did it to mask his true strength and speed, now in full effect against the hollows. The hollows couldn't land a single hit, they were just too slow to keep up with Zieg. Suddenly, as one of his hollow opponents crashed down on his with a two fisted blow from overhead, Zieg suddenly tossed his zanpakuto into its sheath. The hell was he planning. Raising his hands up, his palms struck the large hollow's fists and halted them instantly in mid-air. No way, he just halted the attack completely with his hands! With a maddening grin on his face, along with a fierce roar, he lifted the beetle straight off the ground and swung around, slamming it into it's ally like a baseball bat striking a ball. Releasing them upon impact, the two hollows went crashing together into a nearby tree. An impressive feat of strength on Zieg's part. How would Shade respond? (OOC: Yeah, I know, I had used a kido earlier but just go with it XD since thats going to be the last time you'll see Zieg use a kido again.)

[Shade Kawada]

Shade’s blade collided with the hollow’s arm, and for some reason it came to a halt. These hollow possessed a unique ability that Shade had never seen in hollow before. Metallic-like skin coated them and prevented the san-seki from harming them directly with his blade. As Shade locked his blade with the hollow’s fist he thought. What weak points were there on the hollows? No doubt their eyes were vulnerable, but what other points on the creatures could be harmed? Shade got an eyeful of another vulnerable spot on both the hollows as one of them leapt over his comrade and spread his wings. The wings and the abdomen underneath the outer shell were definitely weak points in the hollow’s defense.

Shade’s callous eyes observed the hollow as it nose-dived directly at the san-seki. With a quick burst of energy, Shade pushed the hollow off of his blade and prepared to deal with the one diving at him. The hollow’s nose was like a Goliath Beetle’s and threatened to decapitate him as it fell. However, Shade would not be taken by such a straightforward attack. A simple redirection of momentum would be all that was necessary. With his left hand, Shade caught the hollow’s cross-shaped nose as it dove and pressed it downwards into the ground. This hollow would make a complete flip as his momentum carried the bulk of his mass forwards, but the ground kept his nose in place.

Wasting no time, Shade buried his shikai in the hollow’s abdomen, underneath his outer shell. There would be no recovery from this. Buraindo Kira reached deep into the hollow’s tender body and got a big taste of it’s blood. “DELICIOUS!!!” shouted the zanpakutou as Shade pulled him out of the hollow as he prepared to deal with the other one. “Looks like I’ve found your weakness...” he said coldly to the remaining hollow.

[Zieg Revolver]

The hollow screeched as Shade effectively drove his blade into its abdomen, bringing swift death to the creature. Its remaining ally stomped the ground in anger, slamming its fists in rage while its the dead hollow was flung into an already downed tree. The beetle hollow that was alive was furious, slamming its fists down against the ground and bent its back legs. Uh oh, that position could only mean one reasonable action: a charge. The hollow was just going to full on charge the male shinigami with all its speed and strength, obviously its anger overcoming the simple hollow. The metallic-skin armor on its body suddenly doubled in size, the wings on its back flapping with an annoying buzzing sound while they moved in a blur of movement. It seemed the creature was building up speed from the wings, soon to rocket at Shade. Too bad that it wouldn't get a chance, as in two seconds the sound of a tree being uprooted sounded through the area and a towering tree crashed down against the beetle hollow.

Zieg was just finishing up his fight. One of his hollows laid dead to the side of him, a four inch hole having been gashed in its eye and no doubt piercing the brain of the hollow. He was currently digging his zanpakuto into the creature's other eye, the horn having been torn off and Zieg standing onto of its shoulders. The hollow thrashed around wildly, trying to knock Zieg up but it was in too much pain to coordinated its attacks properly. Zieg twisted his zanpakuto back and forth viciously, a maddening grin on his face as finally, with one powerful thrust, his blade pierced the brain of the hollow and it collapsed back onto the ground with an echoing thud. He withdrew the blade from the slain hollow's eye, his facial expression returning to one of calm state as he looked to the side, his eyes widened with surprise as suddenly a male figure appeared with its back turned to Shade, his hands clasping around the bottom of the tree and lifted it up high into the air with ease, the hollow splattered against the ground. "YAHA-HA-HA~! AND ITS A HOOOOMMMMEEEEE RUUUUUUN!~" the male figure laughed maniacally as it swung the tree down low like a bat and nailed the hollow, sending it rocketing through the air and out of view along with the tree. Whoa, just who the hell was this guy, only members of squad 11 were supposed to... "Captain!" Zieg shouted suddenly in surprise, stepping off his slain foe and running up next to Shade. Wait... CAPTAIN!?!?!?

The male shinigami was actually shorter then Shade by a few inches, but a radiating aura of power could be felt, his reiatsu strength enormous. It far outclassed both Zieg and Shade's together, this was how powerful the captain was. His hair was wild and messy, as if he had just woken up from bed, and was a bright blue color. He was not wearing what most captains wore, instead, he was wearing a black trench coat that extends from his neck all the way down to half his shins. On the torso are several leather belts fastening the trench coat securely closed. There is a tear around the bottom, which allows the trench coat to slide past his legs for maneuvering reasons it seemed. Around the shoulder sections are a pair of leather belts that extends to the collar surrounding the neck. There are slight markings on the belts, and they usually glow under moon light. The sleeves of the trench coat extend only as far as the elbows, and are secured tightly by leather belts once again. Each arm is wrapped with a spiritual fabric that has a dark blue shade, and it extends to the palms of each hand. Around each spiritual fabric are sets of black leather belt that has the same runic marks as the rest of the belts on his body. They secure the spiritual fabrics tightly around each arm. This was their captain, Captain Saix Shinra.

Saix craned his neck to look at his vice captain, then turned his body as he noticed Shade, his hazel brown eyes locked onto him. "YA~HA~HA! WHOS THIS ZIEG!?~ HE LOOKS STRONG!" Saix grinned maddeningly as he took a few steps forward to get a better look at Shade. "Uh, Captain, this is our third seat, Shade Kawada-" Zieg began, a sighing look in his eyes but was then cut off by Saix. "NO FUCKING KIDDING, WE HAVE A THIRD SEAT NOW!? THEN NO WONDER HE LOOKS STRONG Saix grinned clasping Shade on the shoulder tightly. ""WELL CHAP! I DON'T BELIEVE I HAVE THE PLEASURE OF INTRODUCING MYSELF!!" Saix stated loudly, releasing the male. "SAIX SHINRA! YOUR CAPTAIN! ITS A PLEASURE TO MEET YOU, SHADEY BOY!" Saix roared a greetings then stepped back and turned around, gripping the blade of his zanpakuto. He suddenly withdrew it, revealing it to be an metallic grey English long sword, unlike any katana zanpakuto most people would see Shinigami wield. The hilt was a metallic gray, several scratches that can be seen along the surface of the handle itself as a result of years of usage and misuse. About 2 inches from the cross-guard, an elaborately carved piece of art can be seen. It resembles a set of wavy curves, and was a result of an artisan's craftsmanship.
On the bottom part of the blade, the pommel itself, is a certain, and rather peculiar en carving that resembled a budding rose for some odd reason. The vertical cross guard had wavy curves that resembled either oceanic waves or fiery tongues of fire."REMEMBER, SHADE KAWADA, THE MOTTO OF OUR DIVISION! "WE WILL FUCKING KILL ANYONE WHO THREATENS THIS WORLD!" Their captain bellowed out with a thunderous tone and suddenly sped off, going far off ahead of the two shinigami. Zieg sighed, rubbing his forehead with the fingers of his right hand. "Well, thats our captain for you... alright, lets head back, its best not to get in Captain Saix's way when he is in this kind of mood. Which is always mind you." Zieg stated, sliding his zanpakuto back into the sheath and patted Shade once on the back, walking off ahead of him. That was it, just a normal day in the life of an eleventh division member.

Shade watched as the remaining hollow readied an obvious charge. Didn’t they learn? Frontal assaults simply wouldn’t work against an opponent like Shade. The san-seki stood in wait as he observed the hollow bend it’s bag legs like a spring being coiled up in wait for the release. Shade waited for it. The instant the hollow reached him it would mean the end of him to. “NOW!” stated the zanpakutou spirit as he tried to hurry the hollow on, “NOW go! NOW! Go NOW!” Shade’s grip tightened around his shikai. This was all too easy. He was trained to destroy monsters like this, but why couldn’t they have the common courtesy to train as hard as he did? The least they could do is give him a good workout.

It appeared that Zieg had finished off his two hollow. Shade was about to do the same. That instant the hollow burst forward at the san-seki. His wings flapping wildly, adding to his speed. “What a fool...” thought the third seat, “Did he learn nothing from the death of his friend?” Shade lifted his blade up and took a defensive stance in preparation to counter the hollow’s frontal attack which was full of holes that Shade could exploit given the chance. However, Shade was not given that opportunity. In an instant a strange figure appeared in front of him wielding what appeared to be a massive tree trunk.

With a hearty yell, Saix Shinra, who turned out to be Shade’s captain, nailed the hollow with a mighty swing and sent both the creature and the unearthed tree flying out of view. Shade observed without a facial reaction and slowly retracted from the defensive stance he had taken in preparation for the hollow’s charge. It seemed business had been taken care of for him. The emotionless shinigami stared blankly at Saix as he looked him over. This man was obviously the captain of squad 11, his captain, his superior. Shade would only speak when spoken to, those were the rules when dealing with people possessing ranks such as captain. The third seat stared straight ahead, his eyes conveying an empty, bored look as he allowed the captain to talk with his lieutenant.

“WELL CHAP! I DON’T BELIEVE I HAVE THE PLEASURE OF INTRODUCING MYSELF!!” said Saix loudly grasping on to the third seat’s shoulder, “SAIX SHINRA! YOUR CAPTAIN! IT’S A PLEASURE TO MEET YOU, SHADEY BOY!” Shade observed every movement the captain made with calculating eyes. He searched for anything that would clue him into any flaws in his thinking process or speech habits that he could maybe use to his advantage. It wasn’t odd for the san-seki to follow this process with every new person he met. Before Shade knew it his captain had unsheathed his zanpakutou and was speaking just as loudly as he was before. “REMEMBER, SHADE KAWADA, THE MOTTO OF OUR DIVISION! “WE WILL FUCKING KILL ANYONE WHO THREATENS THIS WORLD!” he boomed before running out ahead of the lieutenant and san-seki. “Well, that’s our captain for you... alright, let’s head back. It’s best not to get in Captain Saix’s way when he is in this kind of mood. Which is always mind you,” stated Zieg as he slid his zanpakutou into it’s sheath and patted the emotionless shinigami on the back.

Shade said not a word, for a superior was still in his presence and he would not mar his chances of becoming a higher rank simply because he spoke out of turn or said something he wasn’t supposed to. Promotions meant everything to the san-seki. They were what he lived for. Little did either of the other shinigami know that Shade’s motto differed quite a lot from his squad’s. For the third seat’s motto was, “Do anything, kill anything, and backstab anyone you must if it brings you one step closer to becoming the most powerful shinigami in Seireitei.” Little did either of the other shinigami that they were as important as dirt to Shade. Zieg and Saix were simply rungs on the ladder that Shade would need to scale to his goal, but for now he quietly obeyed. His time would come, make no mistake.
