Some areas of Karakura Town had been subjected to a rather strange, but welcome phenomenon over the past days. It usually did not last for more than an hour or two at certain times of day, but it was still enough for people to notice and begin commenting on it. For them, their lives looked so much brighter all of a sudden. It was as if they felt better, as if they were able to accomplish more, as if they had more confidence in their abilities. Some would be able to gather the courage to ask for that promotion. Some would ask their love interest out. Others would face an illness with more optimism, and take a giant leap towards recovery by winning the mental battle. All of a sudden, Karakura was becoming a happier place, and the only ones that could tell why were those with at least a basic ability to sense energy.
The contrary, however, happened for those with ill intentions. Hollow attacks were no longer nowhere near as common, even if they still happened on occasion. The beasts lurking in the shadows actually kept to them, because the same aura that elevated and lifted the spirits of the inhabitants was issuing these creatures a dire, stark warning. If they so much as attempted to commit a wrongdoing like hunting a Plus, then swift punishment would be delivered. Most of the weaker Hollows were taking note of this, and all of a sudden, Karakura had started looking like a much worse place to hunt and sate their hunger. Other creatures, however, wouldn't heed the warnings, and would meet a swift end at the blade of one particular little knight.
From atop one of the highest buildings in Karakura, Caballero watched over their beloved home. Their overwhelmingly positive aura spread through a circular area with a two kilometer radius, about 1.2 miles for those using freedom units, and that was what brought forth this effect of happiness for those who were good, and uneasiness for those who held bad intentions. Through Protectorado, their influence expanded over a large portion of the city, as if assuring the citizens that they were there and they would be fighting for them. Needless to say, the same technique also made them a beacon towards those seeking to either investigate the source of this influence, or for Hollows that wanted to rebel against it. Much more efficient than having to patrol around the city looking for the monsters, to be honest.
This time, the little Adjuchas would be needing to face off against the first type of invader, because they saw a couple of figures that were heading straight toward them in a beeline, using air ground. The fact that they were strong enough to ignore Protectorado's effects already put Caballero slightly on edge, knowing full well that this may not be just another run-of-the-mill Hollow encounter. The human, if slightly deformed bodies that they had, much more different than a Hollow's, all but confirmed this fact to them.
Caballero did not take more than a moment to summon Filo, splitting it in two parts, and falling into their battle stance. Their swordsmanship was slowly getting more and more refined, to the point that they had little to envy from the most accomplished swordsmen in the Gotei 13. Most would clash swords evenly with them, and only certain people like Captain Kimiko Nakajima, who had devoted herself to the blade, still surpassed their current level. Filo pulsated with their Reiatsu Strength as they held it tight, a strong weapon on its own right.
Even if Caballero could not recognize the uniform, they did recognize the mask fragments on their faces, and that was more than enough for an image to appear in their mind. Arrancar. And with the thought of an Arrancar, there came Arcadus, yelling at them while charging a Gran Rey Cero. The painful memory of being almost vaporized by the blast, and the pain that had ensued, flashed not a second later. Caballero was still slowly getting over it, but even so, that did not mean that they would not be able to fight this threat.
A glance told them that the envoys of Los Nachos were strong, but not as strong as they were: these two Arrancar were far from the level of the Segunda Espada, most likely sent to investigate why Hollows were no longer prowling out and about Karakura Town, at least not in the same way as before. A powerful Adjuchas emitting a loud spiritual signal would also warrant some kind of response, too, even if only for potential interest for the organization. Soon enough, the two Arrancar would come near enough for a battle to begin, and judging by the way they had their Zanpakuto unsheathed, they were not there just for talks.
"What? This is the Hollow that has been disrupting Karakura Town? It does not even look like an Adjuchas!" the first one said, turning towards his more serious partner. Caballero's stance didn't falter in the slightest. They cared little for that sort of provocation, even if it was unintended.
Of course, Arcadus had not mentioned Caballero's existence to those two mooks. They were probably far too low in the pecking order to register as more than an annoyance, so there was no way that he would've told them in the first place. And it was not like Caballero could even tell that there was a relationship between them and Arcadus; they just assumed there was, given that they only knew that few Arrancar in the first place.
"Don't lower your guard. We don't know what this thing is capable of", the more prudent Arrancar said, Zanpakuto on one hand, carefully judging the distance between themselves and Caballero. When the little Adjuchas feigned one step, the Arrancar mirrored it in the opposite direction, as if they were tethering to keep the distance at a constant. In stark contrast with that endeavor, the other Arrancar wasn't doing absolutely nothing to prevent Caballero from inching closer. In fact, it wasn't paying any attention to the little Hollow at all, having turned towards its partner with a rather chagrined expression.
"What? It's just a damned Adjuchas! We're Arrancar. How difficult can it be to kill it?"
Well, they were just about to find out just how difficult it was. Because, perhaps unsurprisingly, Caballero did not take kindly to Arrancar, not after he had been summarily beaten down by one of the top 3 Espada. The little knight immediately plunged into battle, with the first of the two Arrancar getting cheeky and telling his partner to stay out of the way while he handled the matter. What it hadn't been anticipating was that the little creature would actually be more adept with the sword than he was. Not taking the battle seriously from the start was the mistake he made, because he soon found himself pressed in the defensive while Caballero's Filo sought to overtake an already paltry stance.
Filo soon bit into the Arrancar's skin, at a Reiatsu Strength that overcame the former Hollow's Hierro, causing immediate wounds. This was already surprising for the first Arrancar, who panicked and tried to swing at Caballero in his desperation, only for the little creature to use their size to their advantage to create a bigger opening. Releasing their air ground, they fell just a few centimeters, just enough to avoid the sweeping slash. That left them a pretty good opening to recombine Filo and deliver a pretty nasty wound to the Arrancar's gut with a horizontal swing of their own, a potentially deadly strike.
Truth be told, Filo didn't outright bisect the Arrancar like it could so many lesser Hollows and even some Adjuchas, but it made a deep cut through the maskless's stomach, causing a wound that, if not immediately treated, would see said individual bleed out like a pig. Caballero swung their blade down, cleaning the blood, and stared defiantly at the two Arrancar. They needn't even use Tizona, as these beasts relied on their Hierro to deflect attacks and have an easy time fighting. With their honed battle instinct, it had been easy to exploit that fact, but now they knew that they could not trust in that technique to save them.
"Enough. I'm going to intervene", the second, more prudent individual hissed, but that was met with a swift
"Not... a fucking chance! This fucker... is mine!", the Arrancar said. Its stomach would gargled a white-ish liquid before resolidifying into flesh, as if the wound had never been there in the first place. High Speed Regeneration? That meant he had quite the healing prowess, retained after mask break in lieu of a superior power. Caballero would've narrowed their gaze, had they had any eyelids. Their one mistake had been to try to finish this bastard off starting on the wrong end. Their next attempt would be on its head. The boastful Arrancar plunged into battle again, almost hell-bent on proving that they were not a worse swordsman than the initial Adjuchas
"Fuck! Fuck, fuck, fuck!"
The Arrancar's loud screams and repetition of the same word triggered Caballero, remembering Arcadus's "USELESS USELESS USELESS!". That was enough to make them slip by his lowered guard, just as he was beginning to utter the release command. Their high Instinct told them that they were about to release, and that was the precise point in which he would be able to catch this bastard off guard. "Surge, Epísto-", he began, but that was a sentence that was never finished, for the Arrancar's head was lopped off in a single strike and sent flying through the air. The tiny, yet deadly knight silently watched as the body of the first Arrancar collapsed under its own weight, but all that time, they were staring at the second one, ready to do battle with them.
"Fucking idiot...", the second Arrancar muttered under his breath, and fell into a battle stance just as Caballero tore down a bite-sized chunk of Arrancar flesh and consumed it. They needn't eat more than that, and the power within that bite was just as much as they would've gotten from eating the entire thing. Caballero split Filo in two again, readying themselves for a possible attack. Instead, the Arrancar decided not to repeat the same mistake that its partner had made, and immediately uttered his Release command, getting ready for Resurrección.
"Mata, Torero". A vortex of Reiatsu surged immediately after, and from it, a skeleton-like being with a red capote and a rather peculiar hat came out. What was troublesome, however, was the extremely long rapier that it wielded, twice as long as Caballero was tall. That weapon was not vibrating with Reiatsu Strength like Filo was, so it was most likely a physical strength based release. It looked like he would be dealing with two separate swordsmen that day. Caballero prepared to deal with the Resurrección, immediately taking note of the weapon's length, the capote, and the foe's stance. It favored the capote side, meaning that during a lunge would either need to shift the weight, or risk losing reach.
That idea was quickly scrapped as the Arrancar immediately extended the oversized rapier, nicking Caballero's mask. Only the same battle instinct saved them from getting skewered by the weapon; that was a close call. Readying Filo, Caballero used their weapon to parry a second, and then a third thrust, while slowly making their way toward the released Arrancar. In turn, the enemy redoubled the efforts, and actually pushed back on the Adjuchas rather successfully. However, that would not be enough to deter Caballero, who immediately saw a chance during one of those thrusts. Instead of blocking it or parrying to advance, which Torero would predict, they stepped aside and swung upwards on the rapier.
Filo was not strong enough to outright break it, but it was powerful enough that the weapon was chucked upwards, forcing the Arrancar to break his stance as his arm had been compromised. That was the precise moment in which Caballero needed to make their way into the monster's inner quarters. With Filo drawing sparks alongside the enemy blade, Caballero darted forward at their 400 speed, deciding to save either of their step techniques for a moment of true need. Now in closer quarters, the tiny Adjuchas thought that they would have the advantage, but the matador-like released Arrancar began using their red capote at that point to disorient and confuse them.
This maneuver was rather successful, and allowed the matador to actually pierce through where Caballero's heart should've been with gleeful delight. It took him far too long to realize, however, that no blood had come out after piercing their small body. See, a rapier was a thin blade, made for stabbing. It did not have a lot of surface area, and by definition, it was made to pierce rather than cut. Against other Hollows, that would've been effective, yes. But it wouldn't even put a dent in Caballero. The tiny bean's Pain Tolerance, coupled with their bizarre physiology, meant that they were very resistant to stabbing attacks. Bleeding out was not a possibility for them, for they had no blood to speak of in the first place.
The moment of doubt the Arrancar experienced was enough for Caballero to lop off its head as well with another Filo strike, putting a rather satisfying end to that battle. The pierce wound was just a couple of centimeters in surface area, and as such it would not be debilitating in almost any way, since Caballero could very easily tolerate that amount of damage. The little Adjuchas would tear off another chunk of Arrancar to consume, making the rest of its body dissolve into Reishi particles and float away. None of them would be informing Las Noches about that success, so their existence would still remain unknown for said organization. Better that way; the last thing they needed was strong Arrancar invading Karakura Town, right?
Surely enough, however, all this battle would've warranted the attention of anyone remotely spiritually strong that already were in Karakura Town in the first place. Caballero would need to ensure that this struggle hadn't drawn in any more Hollows, so they remained steadfast in their use of Protectorado to continue protecting the inhabitants of Karakura Town, even from a distance.

{Protectorado (Cinematic)}Protectorado [Protectorate]
Technique Class: 1
Technique Type: Spiritual, Cinematic
Usable By: Any
Technique Cost: N/A
Description: Subjects beings within a space around the user to the effects of the user's aura. In meters, the range is equal to the user's maximum Reiatsu pool divided by two (e.g., for someone with 10k Reiatsu, it's 5000 meters radius, about 3 miles). When Proficient, it's divided by 1.5 instead. When Mastered, the full amount is used.
For those who have good intentions according to the user's moral compass, this technique causes their mood to brighten ever so slightly, and see life with a bit more optimism. They will tackle their troubles, have more hope, and be happier in general. Those with bad intentions, however, will feel daunted, intimidated and afraid. They will think twice, three times and more, before committing any heinous acts within the space.
Drawbacks: Requires 100 in Light Aura. Anyone within the effect radius with at least 50 Energy Sensory can very precisely pinpoint the user's location, so it acts as a beacon towards the user. Being cinematic, no combat application. Cannot be learned alongside Tiranía.

{Filo}Technique Name: Filo [Edge]
Technique Class: 7-1, maximum class is equal to Caballero's, but they can use it at lower classes at will. Paid up to class 3.
Technique Type: Hollow [Custom]
Technique Cost: 50 +50 per class above 7
Description: This technique is affected by Focalizar. A realization of Caballero's intention to become a Shinigami. Caballero uses part of the Reiatsu that forms their body to create a long, sword-like spiritual weapon (85% of their height, so about 2.5ft as a Hollow, massive as a Gillian, 5.1ft as Vasto Lorde...). Since Caballero's 'body' is nothing but their condensed black Reiatsu given form, Filo uses Reiatsu Strength as its offensive stat when cutting something or clashing against other techniques.Caballero's ability using Filo can be upgraded and refined via their Saber Filo skill. Filo can be split into two separate swords and recombined at will, but nothing else besides those two forms. It can't stretch, it can't change shapes, it can't curve, nothing.
Enhanced effect after Focalizar: the created Filo gains the 50% OS property as if they were a "Focus" technique.
Drawbacks: Filo cannot be reassimilated to refresh Caballero's Reiatsu. Cannot be used without at least one skill point in Saber Filo.
