Benjiro couldn't help but feel a sense of camaraderie towards Gestalt. He reminded him so much of Eshin, his old master. Both of them were warriors that only fought when necessary, never wasting any movement. They were both gentle teachers, never once raising their voices or losing patience with him. They had a sense of temperance, always balancing their teachings between the physical and the mental. Benjiro felt grateful to have learnt from both of them, as they had each left a lasting impression on him and helped shape him into the warrior, and man, he was today. He was glad to have crossed paths with Gestalt, and he was sure that this was the beginning of a wonderful friendship.
In a selfish attempt to find peace and closure with his relationship with Eshin, Benjiro asked if Gestalt wanted to go on a run with him. For the ancient monk, now older than most monks ever would live, it was his final goodbye to his old master. Just like before, they would always end with a run before saying their farewells. Thankfully, Gestalt obliged his selfish request. After writing Benjiro's name down in his notebook, a way to remember important things better, which he found to be an honor in and of itself, he said that he would like Abbot Eshin as well considering how impactful he was to Benjiro's path. He also held on to hope that he might one day find him in the Soul Society. "Perhaps. Nothing is an impossibility, but he was a lot older than I was when I died. I'm sure it wasn't too long before he followed me over here, though it had been 70 years. I'm afraid that it's unlikely that I'd ever meet him again... though if you do see him, please tell him where to find me." He explained, a solemn smile on his face.
It was at that point that Gestalt explained that he was relatively inexperienced when it came to the art of Shunpo. He seemed to have misunderstood Benjiro's intent here, especially considering that Gestalt was seemingly just as new at the Shunpo as he was. Still, Gestalt was still willing to do it, though he wanted to know where they could practice their Shunpo. Benjiro just laughed. "No no, you misunderstand! I have no issue with my Shunpo, I just have poor stamina in general! Thankfully, your Zadkiel helped me recover! It's just, I ended every session with Abbot Eshin with a run, to formally say farewell. As my first Shinigami friend, I figured it would be nice if we could do the same." After explaining himself, Benjiro glanced up to the top of the pit and thought of the distance. "Like I said, I'm bad at cardio. I don't think I can do a whole lot of Shunpo training, so how about a race back to the barracks? First jump is out of this pit, past the training grounds, through the main courtyard, and up the stairs to the second floor of the barracks, just to make it a little harder for us. How does that sound?" He said with a more calm demeanor. He was much more comfortable when the competition did not involve the crossing of blades.
Once he received a response, Benjiro went into a traditional running stance, bending down low and bringing one of his legs back into a lunge. "If I may be of assistance, the Shunpo technique has a simple foundation. In its most foundational form, the Shunpo is simply the concept of taking the least amount of steps to reach one's destination. In practice, this is very difficult. Thankfully, my runs with Abbot Eshin have helped me do just that, except to a much lighter degree as I was human. To run faster, one most utilize the full extension of their stride, the longer the stride, the more distance passed. Furthermore, one must minimize the time touching the ground. The quicker one launches off of the ground, the faster they can stride once more. By pushing one's reiatsu to increase both of these, but mostly the stride length. Thus, minimizing the steps and maximizing the strides." Benjiro explained, confident in his understanding of the techniques. While Zanjutsu was his weakest subject at the academy, and despite his weakness in energy sensing and his relatively low spiritual pressure, Benjiro's understanding and manipulation of reiatsu was advanced. Were he to fully dedicate his time and effort towards this, he was sure that he could have passed the test to join the Kido Corps. Instead, he chose to develop both body and spirit to defend the Soul Society in Squad 10.
Once Gestalt was ready to begin, he'd focus his inner reiatsu into his legs and the bottom of his feet. He couldn't hold this energy long, he needed to make it explosive and quick, like a bolt of lightning. First, he emptied his lungs completely until his body burned for air. Second, through the practice of mindful breathing, he completely filled his lungs and let the reiatsu spread to the furthest corners of his body. Finally, in a single burst of energy, Benjiro throttled forward like a blur and reappeared, landing heavily on his left foot, barely making it out of the pit. Though he theoretically understood the technique to an astounding degree, his hatred of cardio caused him to neglect this aspect of his training. Shunpo's effectiveness came from consistency and practice, two things that Benjiro would never do alone for cardio.

{Technique Used:}
Technique Name: Shunpo (Flash Steps)
Class: 7
Technique Type: Kidō
Technique Element: None
Technique Description and Effects:
A movement technique that allows the user to move faster than the eye can follow. The focal point that determines the basis of this technique is speed. As speed is the main point of the technique, the method is best characterized by how fast one can get from Point A to Point B in the least amount of steps. Training and skill are what determines how fast a user of Shunpo can move. Those of little skill in the technique or those who haven't used it for an extended amount of time would obviously be out of practice, causing those individuals to be considerably slower. This requires the use of more steps to move the same distance and become tired more easily in a shorter amount of time. A single step magnifies speed for that step by ten times. Shunpo uses fifty Reiatsu per step. This one is automatically learned in the academy. All Shinigami know this when created. This technique does not take up a technique slot.
How to use technique:
Focus of Reishi around the feet area and launch off into a single blurring step. It is not unlike teleportation in appearance, but it is simply extremely fast movement. It is often used to gain an edge in a single moment of combat or to dodge incoming attacks.
