{Sample} The cacophony of the tavern's patrons was loud as jeers and japes flooded the air, yet when the door opened with a slam, a wave of quiet seemed to fall upon the patrons, moving from the ones closest to the door to the very back. Patrons and staff, young and old, all looked over at the three rough looking men who entered the tavern.
Dressed in rugged leathers and cloth, worn and frayed, they each had a brutal look to their faces, muscled figures and tanned skin. The one in the front walked forward, as the other two followed, all eyes on them as they made their way to the old tavern keeper behind the counter, who was keeping a calm face although it looked strained.
"We're lookin' for a man." The lead ruffian hissed in a gravelly voice, slamming down a piece of paper onto the counter. "Big fellow, swings a big sword around." He spat off to the side.
"Gave us a lotta trouble, 'e did." The second man said, scowling angrily. "Workin' for Kieran's merry band of sellsword scum."
"Old OneEye's gotta bone to pick with him. And we're here to collect." The lead man said again, glaring around the tavern.
"I'm sorry, but I will have to ask you men to leave or I will call the city guard." The tavern keeper said, a small sliver of fear sneaking into his otherwise steady voice.
"I don't think you 'eard us clearly." The second man said, stepping up. "Either you tell us where we find 'dis man, or we leave, and take your pretty little barmaid along with us." He grinned, leering at the serving girl, who stepped back in fear.
The entire tavern was silent, as tensions rose to a breaking point, barely balanced on the point of a knife. And then, a sigh. The scrape of a chair. And a man stood up.
He was tall, with a hooded cloak covering most of his upper body. Yet, silver armor could be seen adorning his legs past his knees, and curiously enough, his left arm was armored as well. He stepped forward towards the ruffians, who leered at him, sizing him up.
"Very brave of you men to have taken this bounty." The man said, stopping a few feet away from the band. "Very stupid too."
"And who the feck are you supposed to be?" The lead man said.
"Someone who's telling you to sod off." The man said, pulling his hood back, revealing a shock of shaggy black hair and eyes of piercing blue. A strange black tattoo adorned the left side of his face, 4 lines leading down from his eye to the side of his face. "I'll give you lot three seconds to leave."
"Three seconds?" The lead scumbag said, looking at his fellows as he grinned. "Who does this fecker think he is?"
"Three." The man said, his eyes seeming to glow for a second before suddenly springing into motion.
It was almost too quick for the eyes to see, but he lunged into the middle of the men, a fist cracking into the ribs of the one at the very back, then turning as one of his feet swept the second's legs from under him, while the back of his elbow cracked into the base of the first's skull. And then, his fist came forward again, cracking against the jaw of the second who was in the middle of falling.
Within the flash of movement, all three men were down, either groaning or knocked out as Caelum looked around the silent tavern at all the peering eyes. His gaze turned to the tavern keeper, who was just as shocked and scared as everyone else, as he gently placed a few coins on the counter and walked out of the tavern.
Outside, he turned the corner and stood against the wall, sighing. "Stupid... Low profile my arse." He muttered to himself, picking out a rectangular pack from within the folds of his coat. He flicked out a roll of tobacco, placed it against his lips and seemed to light it with a snap of his fingers at the end of the roll. A long drag, and an exhale of smoke, and Caelum closed his eyes and sighed in disappointment again.

-Appearance-
{Full Body Uniform + Shikai}
Height/Weight: 170 cm / 53 kilograms.
Physical Description: Ilya is somewhat of a taller-than-average woman with a lithe figure. She has a vaguely european face with pale skin, moderate-high cheekbones and a sharp jawline. Her eyes have an infinitesimal angle inwards, giving her a bit of a sharp-eyed or glaring look most of the time. Her nose is small, straight with a pointy tip. Her hair is coal black and somewhat matte in terms of glossiness, falling down around her face in straight locks that only contain the barest of waves or shaggy quality. Her hair reaches down to the midpoint of her neck at the lowest, and she tends to keep bangs that obscure parts of her forehead, nose bridge, eyebrows and sometimes it falls over her eyes. Her eyes are her most striking facial features, ones that she inherited from her father. They are icy blue in coloration, a very pale and striking shade that is often coined as ‘piercing’. However, whereas Ilya’s father could make full use of these piercing eyes with his manner of expression, Ilya’s eyes generally do not hold that much intimidation factor given that she is very expressive with her mannerism and emotions, and is usually scowling due to her temper.
As mentioned, Ilya’s body structure is quite slim and toned, with the barest hint of muscle definition. She has slender shoulders and arms, narrow waist, slightly wider hips, defined collarbones and hipbones and slim legs. She is not well-endowed at all, almost flat, and it has always been a large insecurity of hers.
Another large insecurity of Ilya’s is that she has a tapestry of long scars on her back, something she picked up back when she was alive at the hands of a whip. It covers most of her back, from her shoulders to her hips, and she never lets anyone see it. Aside from those, Ilya barely has any other scars to speak of, given her pale skin which hides minor scars very well.
Ilya's uniform is quite different from most Shinigami, partly because of her rebellious nature and partly because of her more European upbringing. Her shihakusho is heavily personalized. The Black kosode and white shitagi are slightly longer than most, falling down to her thighs and her hips respectively. They both lack a right sleeve, leaving her right arm mostly bared. She wears the badge of her squad ranking over her right biceps, and a black leather glove covers her right forearm from the middle down, strapped tight to her arm. Her midriff around the naval area is wrapped with a large silver sash. On her left shoulder, she wears a small leather pauldron. On her left arm, from the elbow down, she wears a leather gauntlet that gives her left arm some level of protection. Her fingers are visible from the knuckles up on both hands, so the gloves don't hamper with her grip. She does not wear a Hakama, partly because she hates flowing or skirt-y dresses. Instead, she wears a pair of thigh-high leather boots that cover her legs all the way from her mid-thigh to her feet. They are strapped and tied on so it's fitting to her skin along all the curves and planes of her legs, with slits and folds around the knee and ankle areas to allow for flexibility and bending of the joints.

-Personality-
{Personality}
Dislikes:
- Optimistic or overly cheerful people.
Ilya is not a fan of people who have bubbly or cheerful personalities. People who have overly-hyper or happy personalities tend to grate abrasively against Ilya and she finds herself getting easily annoyed with such behaviour.
- Spicy Food
It's not that Ilya dislikes or hates Spicy food... It's just that she can't really handle spicy food. Aside from having a low pain tolerance, Ilya also has a low spice tolerance, and a lot of the spicier asian cuisine can set her off on a spree of dousing her tongue with water and rapid panting. It's actually funny how little spice she can take and how much she reacts to it. It would be funny if she wasn't staring death at anyone who seemed amused at her.
- Overly Strict people and/or Lawful Good people
Ilya is a very free spirited person in terms of ideal. So, naturally, people who follow rules or enforce rules are people that Ilya does not get along with. She seems them as constraining and blindly following orders, without morals, and because of that, tends to dislike such people from the first foot.
- Too many rules
Ilya does not like rules. She tolerates them, but does not like them. She especially does not like an overabundance of regulations. She hates any kind of chains, and this counts as that somewhat.
- Perverts
Most people generally don't like perverts. Ilya especially so. While she doesn't mind some flirting (though she is haplessly bad at it and is easily flustered), she absolutely hates the kind of people who maintain the stereotypical 'goofy pervert' personality that are often depicted in anime. She does not hesitate to get aggressive the instant someone oversteps their boundaries, and will not balk from outright physically assaulting someone who tries anything inappropriate.
- Religious folk
She is not a religious person. She doesn't mind if people follow religion or beliefs, but she does not like preaching or when someone is overly devout. She sees it as more rules and chains to hold one down, and thus, does not understand why people follow it and does not prefer it herself.
- Being underestimated or generally looked down upon
Because of Ilya's large insecurities about feeling inadequate or inferior, this is one of the things that cuts deep for Ilya or will always manage to provoke her. She absolutely despises any opponent who underestimates her, and if someone she admires or considers a friend looks down at her, will usually be deeply hurt.
- Conversation about her figure, namely around her chest or back.
Ilya has always had insecurities about her body, like most other people. But, unlike most other people, her issues mainly revolve around her breasts and her back. She has no issue showing off parts of her body, as she considers sexual appeal to be a weapon. But the fact that she is, well, flat, has always been a big insecurity of hers. Meanwhile, her back is a bigger issue for her given the tapestry of scars that adorn it. She usually never reveals her back to anyone because of that, and is extremely defensive about it.
- Feminine dresses such as skirts
Ilya does not like skirts or flow-y clothing in general. How does one move in those? How are you expected to fight in clothing like that? What if you trip? All of these questions pose themselves to her, and thus, Ilya prefers to wear pants or generally tight clothing.
- Heavy weapons, or heavy things in general
Ilya isn't the strongest individual. She doesn't like big heavy weapons, they feel cumbersome to her. People with big heavy weapons, Ilya usually judges them to be big, dumb brutes who have a lot to overcompensate for. Also, she just doesn't like heavy things because she struggles to pick them up.
- Failure or pity
Given her inferiority complex, Ilya takes even the smallest of failures extremely seriously. Anytime she fails at something, it will usually affect her deeply, and given the manner of failure, either piss her off or make her extremely depressed over it. She also hates receiving pity from other people, as it relates to her idea of being looked down upon. As an addition to this, she rarely shows pity to other people, opting instead for support through encouragement.
- Coffee
She does not like coffee. There's no profound explanation or deeply seated trauma in her history for this, she simply dislikes how it tastes.
- Hollows
Ilya has a strong sense of justice. She views evil in all forms to be something that needs to be eliminated, and Hollows, she views as a manifestation of the basest forms of evil. When faced with a Hollow, even an intelligent one, Ilya will generally not waste time trying to converse and will, in most cases, instantly jump into combat mode. This also makes her somewhat racist against Arrancars, as she despises them as abominations.
Surprisingly, however, Ilya does not dislike Vizards. Given her chaotic good mindset, she sees Vizards as people who are willing to use evil methods to achieve good ends. Ofcourse, this is null and void when the Vizard in question is, well, evil. But generally she doesn't mind Vizards despite their hollow powers.
But, on the other hand, she has an inherent dislike of Fullbringers, given that a lot of them have powers relating to Hollows.
- Cowards
She hates cowards and cowardice in general, whether it's someone who is afraid to fight a stronger opponent, or someone too afraid to do the right thing. She hates cowardice in all shapes and forms.
Likes:
- Small furry animals, especially cats.
She likes small animals. Furry ones, fluffy ones, bald ones. But most of all, Ilya is a cat person and adores cats of all kinds.
- Sweet Food
While she hates spicy food, Ilya absolutely loves all kinds of sweet food. She's got a bit of a sweet tooth and can be seen frequently munching on sugary snacks, partly because of her love for it and partly because of all the energy that sugar gives her. An easy way to get on her good side is to present her with chocolate. All is forgiven when chocolate is offered.
- Red Wine
Although Ilya likes drinking most alcohol, and regularly partakes in it, red wine is by far her favourite. She loves the taste of a tangy Pinot Noir, or the dry bite of a Shiraz.
- Art, especially paintings and music.
Ilya loves art in all forms. Having grown up in the Renaissance, yet being painfully untalented when it comes to art, Ilya has a large amount of respect for people who partake in art and do it well. She also loves to simply view art.
- Fire
Ilya loves fire. It's warm and bright and it brings back memories for her with her parents.
- Wolves, the animal itself or symbolic
Ilya's father was often coined as a wolf, given his shaggy black hair, his striking eyes and his intimidating air. Having grown up looking up to a man like that, Ilya has a liking for wolves. Wolves are perhaps the only large animal she likes.
- Tea
Ilya absolutely loves tea. She is enthusiastic about it and is antsy if she doesn't have at least a cup or two of tea in a day. She likes her tea with a lot of sugar as well. Best of both worlds.
She's not a fan of Earl Grey, however.
- Kind or Good-hearted people
Ilya likes people who are compassionate or have good morals. She appreciates kindness, generosity and general good actions from a person without it being overly nice. When it goes into an area where the person is far too nice for their own good, that's when it reverts back to a dislike for Ilya.
- People who don’t always follow the rules
Ilya likes people who don't mind bending or breaking some rules to do the right thing.
- Courage
Ilya admires courage, especially in the face of danger. A courageous person will usually gain Ilya's admiration and respect with their actions.
- Cigarettes
While Ilya does not smoke, she likes the smell of cigarettes. She finds it attractive as well as nostalgic, partly because she likes the weird aroma and partly because it reminds her of memories of her father, who was a chain smoker.
Flaws:
- Hot tempered
Ilya is very impulsive and temperamental. It does not take much to set her off or provoke her, which makes her very easy to manipulate into plans.
- Physically Fragile
Ilya is not very durable. Frailty has always been an issue for her, and it doesn't take much to cause serious damage to her.
- Very bad at hand-to-hand
Ilya is a very good fighter with her weapons. However, in terms of hand-to-hand in unarmed combat, she is exceptionally lackluster. She is not well trained and reverts to using the same fighting style as she does with her daggers, which involves quick and precise jabs. Given her lack of strength, this usually doesn't accomplish much.
- Very bad at brute strength
Anything that requires a lot of physical strength is something that Ilya is ill-suited at. She is a fighter honed for speed, not for strength.
- Easy to provoke or distract
As mentioned above, Ilya's impulsive and temperamental nature means she can be goaded into action easily. This usually gets her into trouble.
- Emotionally unstable
Ilya has a lot of issues. She is not very good at staying calm as her emotions are always like a maelstrom. It can sometimes work to her advantage because it makes her unpredictable but it's usually a disadvantage because it also makes her predictable and reckless.
- Bad under pressure
Ilya does not bode well when under pressure. Despite never wanting to waste time, when there is an actual time limit or deadline given, Ilya struggles as the psychological pressure affects her. Something she could normally do under 5 minutes would take longer and with more botches if someone actually gave her 5 minutes to do it in.
- Doesn’t sit well with rules or instructions
Ilya doesn't tend to follow the rules, and doesn't tend to stick to instructions given to her. She's a very singular minded person, and usually will do what she thinks is best for the job she is doing.
- Hates losing, takes it personally
Whether it's losing in a fight against an enemy, or losing a card game against a friend, Ilya absolutely hates losing. She tends to hold grudges, both major and minor, against people who have won over her in the past.
- Very stubborn
Ilya can be very thickheaded at times. She refuses to back down from things even when she is endangering herself, someone else or just plain wrong.
- Not good at being compassionate
Ilya's abrasive and rough personality means that she struggles when she actually needs to be nice. Despite how hostile she is, Ilya does have good intentions, and does have a empathetic heart at times. However, she usually doesn't know how to help someone who needs compassion rather than encouragement.
- Has nightmares, somewhat of an insomniac
She frequently has night terrors from which she wakes up screaming and panicked. This usually means that Ilya is never fully rested, and thus, always at some level of fatigue. This also alludes to the fact that she does not like to sleep in groups, or near anyone, and prefers to isolate herself when she sleeps. She is also very paranoid when sleeping and it goes to the point where she keeps her zanpakutou within arm's reach when she goes to bed.
- Has certain ‘buttons’ that can evoke an instant, violent reaction from her when pressed.
This deserves a special mention as it is an important trait about Ilya. There are certain things about Ilya's past or present that can cut very deep into Ilya's insecurities. These things tend to usually set her off completely into a berserk state, and she will usually throw herself at whoever manages to provoke her in such a manner, consequences be damned. This can be a huge flaw as it might involve her throwing herself at someone who is either holding a hostage or someone who outclasses her completely.
- Is very bad at gambling
Ilya is not good with card games. She frequently loses them, and frequently is a sore loser about it.
- Low pain tolerance
Despite being a fighter, Ilya cannot tolerate much pain. She can get stunned from moderate pain as she tries to cope with it, and any form of torture or prolonged pain will usually result in her defeat.
Habits:
Drinks a lot of tea
Ilya is frequently seen with a cup of hot tea in her hands on her off-times, usually accompanying a book.
Skygazing
Ilya loves to stare up at the night sky, and usually when she can't sleep at night, will move to stare up at the stars.
Swimming
Ilya loves to soak herself under the water. She loves the feeling of floating, and usually only swims at night time when its dark and no one will disturb her. She usually also tends to go to secluded spots to swim since she like swimming in the nude, and obviously doesn't want anyone spying on her.
Eats a lot of food
Ilya's metabolism is pretty high. When she is not relaxing during her off-times, she is usually pigging out. She can eat a surprising amount of food for someone of her stature and size.
Tendency to do things her own way
It's her way or the highway. She rarely listens to instructions or guidelines and will usually do things based on her own ideas.
Unhealthily pushes herself to overcome past failures
Ilya tends to take failure seriously. And thus, she tends to push herself to breaking point, sometimes past that, in order to improve the areas which caused her failure.
Holds regrets harshly to herself
Ilya can be a very broody person at times. Whenever the past resurfaces, she tends to either close up entirely or get very emotional.
People Watching
When not reading books or staring at the sky, Ilya likes to observe other people going about their day to day lives.
Listening to music
What kind of person doesn't like listening to music? Ilya especially likes listening to someone actually playing music.
Gazing at Art
She likes to view works of art and ponder upon their meaning.
Staying up at night
This is kind of a requirement given that she doesn't sleep well. She likes the peace and quiet the night time brings her.
Competitive
Ilya is very competitive with almost everything. Her inferiority complex has her comparing herself to everything and everyone, and she always has the drive to outperform.
Likes to gamble
Despite being horrible at it, there's just something about gambling that Ilya can't stay away from. Perhaps it's the drive the actually win for once, but so far, Ilya has never won a single time. That doesn't stop her from angrily wanting a rematch for the 11th time in a row.
Scowls a lot
There are a LOT of things that irk Ilya, or annoy her. So, generally, the face that most people are used to seeing on her are usually scowls or glares.
Usually comes off as hostile or angry
Being a temperamental person, Ilya is usually hotheaded in conversations and easy to set off. She will very often snap at someone who says or does something to annoy her.
Fears:
Large animals (except wolves)
While Ilya loves animals, she tends to maintain a distance from large animals, specifically the predatory kind. It's not exactly a strong fear, but definitely something she can't relax around.
Deep bodies of water
Despite loving to swim, Ilya has a fear of the deep dark. She tends to never venture out over deep areas of any lake she might be swimming in, and tends to stay near the shoreline.
Suffocation/Drowning as a whole
Part of the reason why she does not like deep bodies of water, Ilya has always had a deep seated fear of suffocation. The very thought of her lungs burning for air as she struggles to breathe frightens her deeply, especially due to her low pain tolerance. This also means that choking of most kinds is a very effective offensive method against her to make her lose her composure.
Losing people important to her
Like most people, Ilya has a fear of losing important people in her life. This mainly stems from her having lost her parents at such a young age. As a result, she tends to distance herself from people.
Claustrophobia
Ilya absolutely despises tight spaces. She will almost always panic when she suddenly finds herself stuck in a tight space where she can't move much or at all.
Torture
Given her low pain tolerance, Ilya absolutely dreads the idea of torture. The very threat of it is usually able to set her at a panic.
Exposing her back to people
This is less of a fear and more of a general paranoia. She does not like showing her bare back to people, as she has huge insecurity issues relating to the scars on her back.
Arachnophobia
She does not like spiders. At all. While she won't outright panic at the sight of spiders, it definitely gives her the creeps.
Pitch black darkness
Not to be confused with regular darkness. Regular darkness is fine, even ideal for Ilya as it allows her to fulfill her stealth role. But pitch black darkness, where she can't even see her hand in front of her face, or just blindness in general, scares her.
Getting grabbed or restrained
This is relating to her fear of claustrophobia. While not as intense, being restrained in any form or method tends to make Ilya instantly resist in an attempt to get free.
Physical/Intimate contact
Despite being someone who could be considered as starved for affection, Ilya is afraid of most kinds of physical contact, friendly or intimate. This stems from the severe psychological scars inflicted upon her during her time alive, and although most of that has faded over time, Ilya still tends to shy away from contact, or become freeze up when hugged. She knows it's silly, but that kind of fear doesn't really leave you that easily, and so it lingers within her.
Goals:
Find out what happened to her parents
One of the reasons Ilya set out alone in her human life was to find out where her parents were and what happened to them. Even now, she wants to find out the cause behind their disappearance, and if possible, to find their spirits because they would obviously be dead of old age by now.
Prove herself to herself
Ilya wants to reach a point in her life where she can shed away her regrets and insecurities, and be proud of who she has become.
Upholding justice and fighting for what’s right
Ilya will always fight for the right cause, the greater good. Following her own moral code, she will always try to uphold justice in the face of evil and corruption.
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Overall Personality:
Ilya is a very explosive, hot-tempered, impulsive, willful and stubborn person. She has a good heart and tends to do things that are right, but is governed by her own idea of what is good and right. She hates following rules or plans and prefers to do things her own way with her own freedom. She has a very loose cannon kind of attitude when it comes to approaching problems, and usually does not work well in a team given her highly solo-oriented attitude. She is obstinate when it comes to butting heads and refuses to back down from most things, which can even lead to her making stupid decisions despite knowing they are stupid because she would rather face an impossible task than give up.
Underneath Ilya’s fiery exterior, however, is a very fragile, broken thing. Whereas Ilya’s mother tended to deflect things with humor, and her father tended to deflect things with apathy, Ilya tends to deflect things with hostility. She is unused to feeling vulnerable and exposed, and tends to hate feeling like that, and as a result, is usually very untrusting of people. Even when someone gains her approval, she tends to maintain a brash facade and keep her distance emotionally.
Deeper inside, she is very insecure about her shortcomings and just about herself in general. She’s always had a large inferiority complex growing up next to her older brother, and she’s always been driven to prove herself to her father, whom she idolized and adored very much. As a result, she always tends to be competitive with everyone, not because she likes winning but because she hates losing. But also as a result of that, she really appreciates when someone praises her, although she will never really show it.
She tends to like and relate to people who share her ideals. People who are willing to do the right thing regardless of the consequences or rules. This also means that, as a general rule of thumb, Ilya tends to dislike most people at first meet. She's already a very hostile-seeming person, and usually upon meeting someone new, she tends to be highly distrusting of that person until she gets to know what kind of a person that stranger really is. Until she is used to someone, she tends to be very distant from them, using aggressive behaviour or words to keep them at bay. Despite her not liking rules, Ilya isn't disrespectful to her superiors... Not outright at least. She gives the respect that is due for people who are superior to her, although any hint of arrogance from that person's part can set her off and make her just as unfriendly to that person as anyone else. She absolutely hates people who are arrogant or narcissistic. She also dislikes people who are general 'goody-two-shoes'. She approves of decisions that value the greater good, and she approves of people who stand firm in the face of danger instead of turning tail.
Surprisingly, however, Ilya has a large modicum of respect for healers. Even if the healer might have qualities that Ilya dislikes, such as being too lawful or being too optimistic, Ilya generally tends to be very respectful and polite to healers because she knows the importance of their role. Most people might look down on healers as many healers do not partake in combat, but Ilya clearly understands that their battle lies elsewhere and is just as important. And also because other people tend to look down on healers is why Ilya tends to admire them.
Ilya also dislikes people who have obsessions. She dislikes people who are lazy. She likes it when someone means what they say, and she likes it when someone is straight forward. As a person, Ilya does not prefer to dilly-dally and waste time. She is always very straightforward about most things, as well as honest, to waste as little time as possible. She likes it when a conversation is concise and straight to the point, and dislikes people who beat around the bush a lot. She also likes people who are shy or unsure of themselves, adopting somewhat of a protective nature for those people if she gets to know them well enough, but there is a fine line for her between someone lacking confidence and someone simply wallowing in self-pity. The latter, she despises, and people who do that will usually only get scorn from her rather than comfort. Exceptions do exist given the context, but in most cases, Ilya does not like someone who wastes time beating themselves up over something that happened in the past. This is a bit of hypocrisy as Ilya tends to do this to herself with her own regrets, but then again, she also gets bouts of self-loathing. She tends to cope with these through her anger, using the fire of anger to fuel her on to greater heights and away from her regrets. Part of the reason why she is always on the move, always wanting to go and do things, never wanting to waste time is because she hates staying still. She needs to keep moving to distract herself. Because whenever she is still, she thinks. And when she thinks, she overthinks. And that is usually very self-destructive in her case.

-Powers-
{Expand}
Fighting Style: Ilya’s fighting style is somewhat unique. Despite her outwardly hot and brash personality, she is a very combat-capable person in terms of technique and mindset. She knows her strengths and weaknesses acutely, and thus her fighting style capitalizes on her strengths while minimizing her weaknesses.
During fights, most of the time Ilya will be at a disadvantage in terms of brute strength and endurance. She generally expects this and tends to employ a fast and precise method of fighting, keeping a safe distance from her target while still close enough to be within melee range. Her fighting style resembles a hit-and-run style although much more aggressive. She has a very good idea of a person’s vitals, and she tends to strike out like a snake with very fast and precise strikes that lack raw power, but are aimed to cripple and bleed out an opponent. She tends to circle like a wolf, taking small opportune hits at an opponent, aiming for the chinks in their armor, most usually at major blood vessels, tendons or other crippling spots (such as cutting the forehead to impair vision via bleeding, or cutting the hand to impair an opponent’s weapon wielding).
Her style, however, is very high risk high reward, because she tends to skirt a razor’s edge between close and too close. Given her frailty and lack of physical prowess, all it usually takes is a few good hits, sometimes even one, or for a stronger opponent to grab her, and she’s already lost. While her offensive capabilities with her style of fighting is immense, her defensive capabilities are very lackluster, with her only options either being to use her speed to dodge and weave, or to simply not give the opponent a chance to attack with her own aggressive tactics. She plays a war of attrition when it comes to fights, albeit a very fast paced one as her tactic comes down to adding small wounds up on an opponent until they are incapacitated rather than outlasting an opponent. She’s a very glass-cannon type of fighter.
Outside of straight combat, Ilya is usually in the place of either a scouting role. Given her high mobility, low visibility and great perceptive skills, she makes for a fast and stealthy recon operative. Even when caught, Ilya can, in most cases, either outrun her opponents or defeat them in single combat.
Within combat, Ilya's role is a highly single-target focused role, similar to an assassin. She excels at combating a single opponent, and usually an opponent who isn't heavily armored. She excels at opponents who rely on brute strength, as her speed usually allows her to greatly outshine them, although that is also where her greatest weakness lies as it usually takes a single unlucky hit for her to be out of the fight. Her fighting style is NOT suited to combat involving more than one opponent. That is where Ilya is most out of element and she can be seen struggling or stumbling to keep up with more than one opponent. In the cases where she IS faced with more than one target, Ilya tends to focus on one target with a highly aggressive rush to incapacitate or eliminate that target first before moving onto the next target. But against capable opponents, when there's more than one, Ilya generally has already lost before the fight even starts. In many causes, Ilya doesn't mind tactical retreats or leading them to a more suitable spot. But in some cases, especially if one of her opponents has successfully provoked her (Which isn't hard to do), Ilya can stubbornly refuse to retreat, even when she is widely outmatched.
Zanpakutou Spirit Appearance(Optional): Ilya’s Zanpakutou Spirit, Wilk, takes the form of a great black spectral wolf. The wolf is about the size of a city bus, with black fur that smokes at the edges of its silhouette, like the wolf is made of living, tangible shadows. On it’s forehead, it has a white mark that looks like a Plus symbol. Its eyes are completely white, lacking irises or pupils. It appears to speak to her through telepathy or some alternative, as its mouth does not move when it speaks to her.
Inner World(Optional): Ilya’s inner world is a large meadow of silver grass that reaches up to her chest. The meadow endlessly stretches on all directions and tends to sparkle as it moves lazily on a ghost wind. The sky above is a crystal clear view of space, filled with stars and nebulae, but mainly, with a large full moon that tints the entire world in a pale silvery light.
Zanpakutou Appearances:
Sealed: Wilk, in it’s sealed state, takes the form of a 24 inch long ninjato, with a straight blade. The handle is One-and-half and wrapped with black bindings with silver trims. The tsuba is a standard oval shape, solid and black, with silver etchings forming a plus shaped cross from the center.
Shikai: Wilk, in it’s Shikai state, takes the form of two 20 inch long daggers, each with a One-hand handle. The daggers are identical, with straight, black blades that have silver edges. The handles are similar to it’s pre-release state, black wrappings with silver trimmings. The crossguards of the daggers, however, change from an asian tsuba to a more european crossguard, silver in color. Fast movement with the weapons tend to leave silvery trails.
Bankai: Krol Nocy, in it’s Bankai state, retains it’s Shikai appearance for the most part. However, now there is a red line going up the center of both blades, and there is a red ribbon trailing from the end of both handles, extending 12 inches. The crossguard also changes moderately, becoming more ornate looking, but aside from these changes, they remain relatively unchanged to the opponents who aren’t very perceptive. Most tend to underestimate Ilya at this point because of this bankai, but her appearances are meant to be deceiving.
Zanpakutou Release Names(Include both Shikai and Bankai names, and call out phrases)
Shikai: “Wycie, Wilk!”
Bankai: “Rend the stars, Krol Nocy!”
Overall Ability:
The overall theme of Wilk's powers are related to a Predator as well as 'Cutting Darkness'. Wilk symbolizes the night sky, and thus is shadowy in nature. In his words, "As Light cuts through the dark, shadows cut through the light. But unlike light, shadows do not slice once. One body can produce multiple shadows, cutting over one another. Like the claws of a wolf, they rend not once but many. Light takes the form of rays. Shadows take the form of fragments."
His wolfish form relates to her greatly enhanced reflexes. His power over the shadows, however, took this form for Ilya mainly because of her own past. Ilya has her own scars, especially on her back. Thus, in conjunction with this, his shadowy powers manifested in the form of applying scars, sometimes overlapping one another, hence her marking ability.
It condenses reiatsu into her blades and her body, affecting her body and blades. The condensation of reiatsu in her body allows Ilya to have increased speed when it comes to twitchy motions such as slashing out at an opponent or dodging an attack. It’s great for these small, precise movements but it does not increase her overall ability to run or sprint. It only affects small bursts of movement. The condensation in her body also helps to reinforce her body to resisting the damage from the sudden whipping movements her powers grant, allowing her to move at the reflexive speeds she does without tearing herself apart from whiplash.
Her reiatsu takes on a black coloration with some gray tones and trims. It is mostly Physical in element aside from a hint of Shadow/Dark.
Unlike most people who have similar speed-enhancing abilities, however, Ilya does not seem any different when idle. She doesn't blur or glow. If anything, she tends to seem a lot more still when she is idle, barely appearing to breathe or move like a living being does. Even from a relaxed state of posture, she can whip into motion in the blink of an eye. This doesn't come without it's downsides, obviously. She can't consecutively keep dodging and striking at this speed, as she can definitely strain herself if she pushes too hard. Generally she needs a few seconds after her bursts of speed to let her muscles brace again for the next movements. She can generally consecutively do up to two or three motions like this in quick succession before injuring herself.
However, this ability obviously has a glaring weakness, as does Ilya has a whole. Any opponent who is faster than her has already won as that is her only notable trait in combat. Also, an opponent who manages to injure her enough to cripple her movements can make this ability less effective, or completely neutralize it. Ilya can't exactly do her bursts of speed when she has a sprained or broken limb in question. Given her inherent frailty, this can happen a lot more often and easier than one would think. Also, grabbing her also generally neutralizes this ability. She can't dodge out of the way of a punch or attack when someone is holding her down in most cases. She can do little, such as tilt her head away from an oncoming punch, but if the opponent already has a hold on her neck, this is very minimal at best.
The shadow portion of her ability, as mentioned, takes form in her blades. The ability to apply 'scars' of 'cutting darkness'. This is evident in both her Shikai and Bankai, as her blades leave marks that can cut once more upon being triggered, and if someone with an ability to see them would view them, they appear as black marks that smoke softly when moved. In her bankai, this shadowy manifestation takes two forms in her two passives. The first one is similar to her shikai ability concept, but now also further expounds on the 'Shadow' theme, a bit literally infact. The afterimage that follows her blade is a 'shadow' of her actions. The arcs she can fire in her second passive symbolizes how shadows can cut through light, their shapes and sizes changing, their forms overlapping.
In specifics, her Shikai Ability does not give her a passive increase to her overall speed stat. However, it allows her to expend reiatsu in order to do singular, usually reflexive actions at 30% increased speed. This ability does not allow her to out-speed opponents who are on the same level or higher than her passively, BUT it does allow her to out speed them for specific motions, giving her an offensive advantage in close quarters.
The following are what count as reflexive actions;
- Dodging an oncoming blow or hit, either through moving her body or taking a step in any direction.
- Striking out at an opponent with an attack
- Turning or otherwise generally manipulating or moving anything she is holding
- Any small to moderate motion of her body that involves turning or repositioning
- Lunging motions.
The following are what does not count as reflexive actions, and thus are not affected;
- Movement in general. Walking, Running, Sprinting.
This ability isn't only governed by her reiatsu, but also her physical limits. Ilya can move like this consecutively in quick succession only soft maximum of 3 times. So only 3 actions per post may be under the boost from this ability. Any more and she tends to physically injure herself moderately, usually resulting in a major sprain, sometimes torn muscles. Her hard maximum is five times, which usually results in extreme strain throughout her body and is usually only reserved for emergencies.
In essence, the reiatsu inside of her coils in her muscles, allowing them to suddenly contract or extend with frightening rapidity. Therefore, it is impossible for her to, for example, land 3 punches with her enhanced speed consecutively, as that action requires several extensions and contractions of her elbow. In order for her to accomplish that, the penalties for second and third action applies, as listed below. She cannot bend her upper body to the left, and then to the right in a Single Action as that requires contractions and extensions from the same muscle groups.
A short delay ranging from half a second to one second is usually in between consecutive actions, for the reiatsu expended to be replaced in the body parts utilized. This also prevents Ilya from rapidly dodging an attack with multiple hits, for example, several arrows being fired at her non-simultaneously. She is able to dodge the first one with her enhanced ability, but if the second one follows too rapidly for her to recharge, but far enough that her first motion can't also be used to dodge this as well, she will have to rely on her normal ability to dodge the projectile.
Class 6 cost (50 Reiatsu) for each motion, with an additional 2x multiplier on the original cost for consecutive uses. So in the case of 3 actions in a post, the 3rd action consumes 4x as much reiatsu as the first action. A fifth, emergency action, consumes 8x as much as the first action. The costs are as follows;
First Action: 50 Reiatsu
Second Action: 100 Reiatsu
Third Action: 200 Reiatsu
Fourth Action: 300 Reiatsu
Fifth Action: 400 Reiatsu
In her bankai, it is generally more or less the same, with the same limitations. However, it also gives her a Passive Speed boost of 20%. So, combined with this, her reflexive actions can achieve a 50% increased speed. But they have the same limitations and costs.
Shikai Overall Ability:
Aside from the above mentioned increase in speed, one of the main ways Ilya’s Shikai manifests is in her blades, where reiatsu is also condensed. With every slash that Ilya inflicts on an opponent, traces of her reiatsu linger on those wounds. Like poison coating the blade, they linger upon the blade and condense around the edges and are transferred onto a target upon physical contact, being left there. The reiatsu constantly replaces itself on the blade as she attacks, allowing her to land many of these reiatsu-marks in quick succession.
Upon the command “Wycie!” during battle, those traces of reiatsu become active, exploding outwards. On a practical scale, this basically means that whatever slashes an opponent had, they get slashed a second time on those areas, either deepening a wound or reopening one if it healed. The reiatsu traces are used up by this command, so she cannot repeat it and must reapply more traces via physical slashes on an opponent. It’s usually her way of ending an opponent or momentarily incapacitating an opponent. These 'marks' cannot be removed through physical means. They can, however, be flushed or eradicated by a strong burst of reiatsu over the person's skin, similar to someone blowing air underneath a wet fabric sticking to their skin to blow it outwards and make it detach. This is usually not something that occurs to most opponents, however, as they generally need time or experience to figure out how to counter this, and generally most opponents don't even notice the marks left on them until they explode or unless they're aware of this ability, or if they're extremely perceptive.
The drawback of this ability is varied, however. Given the traces of reiatsu, the explosions aren’t very grievous or spectacular, and only add a bit more severity to wounds already given to the opponents. It also depends on the severity of the wound upon infliction. Obviously a deep slash across a target's midsection will have a much greater effect upon triggering than a glancing cut over a target's shoulder. The triggering of these marks are basically similar to having Ilya slash at them once more in the way she inflicted the wound in the first place.
Another disadvantage to note is, given her choice of weapons, it is practically useless against armor. Ilya also cannot choose to turn this ability ‘off’ so as to speak, and every slash she makes, even ones that get deflected off of heavy armor or an opponent’s blade or hits something else, wastes her reiatsu. The effect is also usually less effective on opponents who have a lot more defensive abilities on their bodies, as if Ilya's blades themselves don't manage to slice into their skin, her marks definitely won't unless they let down their guard.
In specifics, this is a passive ability that is unable to be disabled while in Shikai. Every successful application deducts a Class 7 cost (25 Reiatsu) to replace the coating on the blade.
This happens with minimal delay after contact is lost, so every slash generally applies a new mark. A successful application occurs anytime the blade makes contact with a physical entity or object, regardless of whether or not the contact does any actual damage. This means that any attack that misses and/or hits a surface that it fails to damage, the mark will still apply (ineffectively so) and apply the reiatsu cost. Reiatsu cost is applied upon successful application.
The triggering of these marks do not incur any cost.
In order for an opponent to cleanse the marks, they must flush the area affected with Reiatsu. It wastes/costs 100 reiatsu for an opponent to clear a specific body part, such as a limb or the torso, while it wastes/costs 200 reiatsu for them to flush the entire body.
Due to how her reflexive ability works, using it offensively usually means only one or two attacks from Ilya with a single or both blades. Since her ability only speeds up short bursts of movements, she cannot consecutively land a flurry of slashes on an opponent, usually being limited to a single attack per limb per utilization of the passive ability.
Bankai Overall Ability:
[ NOT ACHIEVED YET ]
Ilya’s Bankai lacks any kind of dramatic explosive upgrade. Instead, it's practically the same as her Shikai visually, but it works to further improve the strengths she already has to even higher levels. Her Bankai further enhances her ability to move exceptionally fast in short bursts of speed. But the main addition to her abilities is that the blades can now, on will, send out arcs of reiatsu as projectile slashes, which work the same way as her Shikai. The arcs, rather than cutting an opponent, plant themselves over the opponent like a tattoo or ink-spray, and is mostly impossible to remove through physical means, although it can be removed through spiritual means as listed above in the Shikai section, or through the incapacitation of Ilya.
Similar to her Shikai, upon the command of “Rend!”, these marks explode, slashing into the opponent with a greater severity than the Shikai. This allows Ilya to basically engage in fast-paced melee combat with an opponent without even being in melee range.
She can turn this ability off on will, switching between this ranged fighting style and a more melee fighting style. When the arcs are not in effect, however, such as when Ilya is actually in close-quarters combat, they act in the same way as her Shikai, but with an added effect now. Her blades are trailed by red afterimages, following half a second after her slashes. These afterimages can also physically slash an opponent if they make contact, allowing Ilya to, in theory, double the amount of attacks she is making on an opponent. The after-image slashes do not leave behind the reiatsu traces.
In specifics, this is a passive ability which is essentially an upgraded version of her Shikai ability, and comes in two parts that can be switched back and forth upon will without cost, but one of the two is always in effect.
The first passive is the melee version, which is essentially the same concept as her Shikai. Every successful application deducts a Class 6 cost (50 Reiatsu) to replace the coating on the blade. The marks and triggers are stronger in this version due to it being an upgraded form in her Bankai, and thus, more damaging.
This passive also manifests in the form of ghostly afterimages of the blades themselves, which follow any motion by the blades with a 0.5 second delay. They do not cost any reiatsu to maintain. They can physically interact and damage any physical entity or object they come into contact with, similar to the actual blades. They do not, however, apply marks. If they come into contact with something that would otherwise halt them from trailing the blades wherein the blades have already moved on, they demanifest for a second before remanifesting back in their assigned paths.
The second passive is a mid-range version. Every individual slash Ilya makes incurs a Class 6 cost (50 Reiatsu) causes thin arcs of black energy to shoot outwards, travelling at a static speed of 800 which does not decrease through physical resistance or distance, although they dissipate after travelling 20 meters in any direction. The arcs also expand in length and radius (but not width/thickness) with distance. Upon contact with a physical entity or object, the parts of the arc that come into contact attach themselves as black marks, visible for only a split second before becoming invisible to the naked eye, similar to her normal passive marking.
Parts or sections of the arc can come into contact and mark without the rest of the arc stopping. The rest of the arc continues along its path until it dissipates at maximum distance or strikes another physical entity or object. A successful application occurs anytime the arcs, or any part of the arc, makes contact with a physical entity or object. Reiatsu cost is applied upon the attack itself, regardless of successful application or not.
The triggering of these marks do not incur any cost.
In order for an opponent to cleanse the marks, they must flush the area affected with Reiatsu. It wastes/costs 150 reiatsu for an opponent to clear a specific body part, such as a limb or the torso, while it wastes/costs 300 reiatsu for them to flush the entire body.
The energy arcs can be interrupted or nullified with a sufficiently strong burst of 200 Reiatsu, or a barrier.
Due to how her reflexive ability works, using it offensively usually means only one or two attacks from Ilya with a single or both blades, depending on how she is attacking. Since her ability only speeds up short bursts of movements, she cannot consecutively land a flurry of slashes on an opponent, usually being limited to a single attack per limb per utilization of the passive ability.
The following are what count as reflexive actions;
The following are what does not count as reflexive actions, and thus are not affected;
Class 6 cost (50 Reiatsu) for each motion, with an additional 2x multiplier on the original cost for consecutive uses. So in the case of 3 actions in a post, the 3rd action consumes 4x as much reiatsu as the first action. A fifth, emergency action, consumes 8x as much as the first action. The costs are as follows;
Zanpakuto Techniques:
Shikai
{Expand}
1. Shadowstalk
Class 6 [50 reiatsu] cost per post.
This technique uses Ilya's reiatsu along with Wilk's shadow effects in order to coat Ilya in a layer of black reiatsu. This is majorly cosmetic, but useful in dark environments as it allows Ilya to camouflage herself with shadows a lot better. This also hides her reiatsu signature from detection outside of a range of 5 meters. It is practically useless in bright light or against bright backgrounds as it merely covers her in a black shadowy coat, which would make her more visible in these cases. This stealth effect can be interrupted if;
- Ilya is incapacitated
- Opponent releases a burst of reiatsu stronger than 100 and she is in the range.
- Physical contact is made with Ilya's body (not her blades). This does not apply to the terrain or obstacles or otherwise objects that one would normally have physical contact with.
- Ilya wills them to demanifest
- Ilya's Shikai demanifests.
2. Rozerwac [Ro-zer-vach]
Incantation: The teeth shall tear and the claws shall rend, Rozerwac!
Class 5 [100 reiatsu] per post this is active, including the post it was activated in, increasing by 25 reiatsu for every turn it is active upto a maximum of 150 reiatsu per turn.
This technique is a very high risk high reward gambit. It involves Ilya having her one or both of her blades in constant physical contact with her target, such as when she has them stabbed into them. In either case, upon activation via the command word, the reiatsu coating on Ilya's blades go into overdrive, circulating at high speeds through the blade and constantly being replaced. What this accomplishes, in effect, is somewhat of a chainsaw effect, where the blades begin to rend anything they are currently in contact with by constantly applying the marks and simultaneously triggering them before promptly reapplying them. This can produce devastating damage if the blade is already embedded in a target as it will proceed to rip into them. Ilya will also use this sometimes when in contact with a hard target, such as an opponent's zanpakutou or heavy armor. This technique can give her the extra bite she needs to sometimes rend through the armor, or cause damage to an opponent's weapon.
This ability increases Ilya's OS by 15% for cutting through obstacles or objects while in contact, increasing by another 15% for each consecutive post this ability is active while still maintaining contact, stacking up to a maximum of 45% increase, although it's highly unlikely any actual opponent will allow her weapon to be in contact with them for that long.
However, for this technique to be used, Ilya needs to have physical contact with her blades, and be able to speak the full incantation. If she is unable to audibly speak, this ability cannot be used. If her blades are not in physical contact with her, this ability will have no effect.
It is high risk because it requires the blades to be in constant contact, meaning Ilya has to be dangerously close and maintain that distance. And in the case of defending, if an oncoming attack approaches her too fast for her to speak the incantation, it won't activate in time.

1. Napaść Ciena [Na-Pashk Si-Ena]
Class 4 [150 reiatsu] cost upon use.
This technique involves Ilya entering a very low stance to begin with, one leg bent and the other stretched outwards, with her arms holding her blades in a wide stance. Following this, Ilya lunges in a direction, rapidly spinning thrice in mid lunge while slashing out with her blades, sending out her reiatsu arcs 360 degrees all around her in a complete aoe attack three times in very succession. The projectiles are less of an arc and more of a ribbon-like spread, as her slash is sustained throughout the entire technique, resulting in 2 ribbons of spiralling reiatsu around that spreads in a bit of a haphazard way. A single target within range can be marked 3 times with this ability, as she makes 3 spins. The spiral has the same speed and properties as her Bankai arcs, with a speed of 800 and a range of 20 meters. Given the speed of her spin, the 3 applications follow very close to each other in the spiral, so a target who will get hit by the first arc is almost always going to be hit by the following two. The entire ability, after the lunge, takes around a second to execute.
This technique is not used very often as it has a very high possibility of collateral damage. But it is a very useful technique for either hitting multiple opponents or hitting a single opponent who is elusive. It also leaves Ilya mildly disoriented from the high speed spins for a few seconds following this.
2. Łzawiące Wycie [L-za-vian-che Vy-che]
Class 4 [150 reiatsu] cost upon use.
This technique involves Ilya saying the command "Łzawiące Wycie!" while slashing out an arc with one or both of her blades. The energy arc that is fired from this technique crackles audibly as it travels, the silhouette also fraying unstably as it travels at a speed of 800. Aside from that, it has the same cosmetic properties as her normal arcs, in terms of size, spread and maximum range. However, this arc, upon contact with a target, slashes into them with the same consistency as her blades. To put simply, it is a basic cutting projectile attack which cuts once upon contact and also applies a mark down the slash that can be triggered as usual afterwards. Unlike her regular arcs, these arcs ignore techniques or barriers designed to stop attacks, but are otherwise stopped by contact with objects such as buildings, a weapon used to block them, etc. Thus it also cannot be used to clash against another reiatsu projectile as it will pass through it.
3. Wezwanie myśliwego [Ves-va-nie Mi-esh-li-ve-go]
Class 5 [100 reiatsu] cost upon use.
A very simple technique which involves Ilya expending an amount of Reiatsu to release a harmless but invisible pulse that travels at 1000 speed outward in an AOE radius of 100 meters, through obstacles. It has no effect EXCEPT for when the pulse comes into contact with any marks that Ilya might have previously made but not triggered. Upon coming into contact with a mark, it causes the mark to begin resonating back to Ilya, similar to sonar, allowing her to locate a marked opponent's exact position for the next few seconds. This is simply a useful technique to either find hiding or fleeing targets, or to combat an opponent that Ilya cannot see. This resonance is usually not felt or noticed by opponents unless they are highly perceptive, so opponents normally do not know that they are being tracked or they have been located.
4. Stalowy Atak [Sta-lo-vi A-tak]
90% of remaining reiatsu is used as cost, minimum of 800. Instantly reverts back to sealed form post-use.
An ultimate technique used in desperate situations, this involves Ilya entering a forward-leaning stance with her blades held reverse-gripped behind her. Ilya draws out most of her remaining reiatsu into her body and blades, and this manifests as black shadows crackling over her surface. After perhaps a couple of seconds have passed, Ilya lunges forward at an overall 100% increase to her base speed, travelling a maximum of 20 meters in a straight line in a given direction, becoming a living projectile in a way. She slashes through any physical entity or object within the path of her dash, and this slash has a heightened ability to slash through most obstructions. It is basically one final, ultimate slash dash in the hopes of finishing off an opponent, one last trump card.
The overall range of this ability is 20 meters in one straight line, with a width of 3 meters. The entire path of the slash dash that Ilya follows is considered to be the 'slash' zone. Any object caught within this range is affected. Ilya essentially becomes a cutting shadow, her entire body becoming somewhat incorporeal, passing through any obstacle while also marking them at the level she holds her blades. It is not required for her blades themselves to touch any target, as touching it with any part of her body as she passes through will mark them at blade level. Once she reaches the end of the dash, a split second passes before the marks detonate. It cuts a line through everything passed, including solid objects, obstacles and opponents, at the aforementioned blade level. For example, if an Opponent is caught within this ability's AOE, the blade level being waist height, once the ability is over and the mark triggers, the opponent will be slashed through completely at waist level, including their arms if they were by their side. If an opponent is fractionally inside the AOE, only that part of their body will be slashed. This ability is very similar to the cinematic depictions of a samurai's final slash, wherein a slash is made after a long dash, a line cutting through the entire length dash. However, in this case, it's being made with two daggers.
It is not possible to block this ability through defensive techniques, methods/stances, barriers or obstacles. Any unbreakable objects within the way will still be slashed at, and will break or not depending on its properties, but it will still be passed through if the range allows it. It is not possible to interrupt Ilya once the dash has begun, but it is possible to interrupt the ability in the short charge-up time it requires.
Following this ability's use, Ilya instantly reverts back to her sealed state and will, in most cases, be far too physically exhausted to fight any longer.

Birthplace: Ilya was born in Central Europe, albeit the exact location of her birth has been lost over the years.
Current Residence: Sereitei
Memorable Figures:
Her Parents: Ilya doesn’t remember much about her parents, but she loved them dearly. Her father, especially. Her strong sense of justice comes from her father, and she was severely devastated when they became lost. She still doesn’t know if they died or if they’re still lost somewhere, and she always strives to find them or any trace of them.
Her brother: Her brother, Ezra, is somewhere in the Spirit World. As young children, he would always look after her and be a very loving brother, but she would always be very hostile to him as she saw him as competition. After their parents had disappeared, Ilya had blamed Ezra and injured him, giving him a scar on his face. It’s something she regrets her entire life and after helping him to medical attention, she ran away from him. She never saw him since.
History:
Ilya Leonheart Argentum was born in Central Europe in the 1600s, during the peak of the renaissance period. She was born to her parents, Caelum Nox Argentum and Shiarva Argentum nee Leonheart, and as the second child, a few years younger than her older brother, Ezra Leonheart Argentum. Ilya was mostly her father's daughter, because she inherited most of her father's features. He was also pale with hair black as night and pale blue eyes that were as striking as they were intimidating. She inherited almost nothing from her mother, who was short, had wavy golden hair and bright grey eyes.
Ever since a young age, Ilya has always been very energetic and somewhat of a menace. She would always bother her older brother, going as far as to hit him or bite him as a toddler despite Ezra being exceptionally caring and gentle. She loved her father the most ever since childhood, and he also doted on her. But, Ilya always had a festering sense of inferiority when compared to Ezra. She was brash, rude, impulsive whereas he was collected, polite and calm. He was also exceptionally smart, somewhere Ilya wasn't always efficient at, and he also had a very good habit of following the rules, something Ilya definitely did not like doing.
Being the child of two illustrious people, her mother being nobility and her father being a war hero, Ilya had a large pair of boots to fill as she grew up. But she wasn't too interested in those. Growing up during the renaissance period, Ilya loved all the art and culture blooming around her. But, much to her dismay, no matter how much she loved it or tried, she was never good at any of them. She was practically tonedeaf and could not compose or play music. She was horrible at painting too and too impatient to sit and work on an artwork for long periods of time. This led to her, as a child growing into a juvenile, to harbour even more resentment towards her brother, who excelled in these things. As teenagers, they would constantly argue and fight, mainly from Ilya's side as Ezra was never very aggressive and would always try to diffuse the situation. The fact that her brother treated her so well and loved her so much was even more infuriating towards Ilya, because it further emphasized the fact that he was a better person than her.
When she was 16 is when her life turned upside down. Her parents went on a trip across the country and they were supposed to come back within a week. They didn't. After many weeks, Ilya grew frenzied with panic. She had a huge fight with Ezra as he tried to calm her down, and years of resentment made their breaching point at this part of her life. She physically assaulted him, and after a short fight, managed to give him a bad cut on his face. Horrified at what she had done and sobered from it, Ilya quickly took her brother to the doctors. They patched him up but Ilya was wracked with guilt. While her brother was recovering, Ilya returned to her home. She took a small pouch of currency despite her family's coffers being extensive, dressed up for travel, took a bunch of daggers for safety and left her home city. She headed towards the city where her parents had been going to, intent on finding them. She searched for years once she reached the city, surviving off of small jobs here and there. But eventually, she was driven to stealing to survive at times.
Her reckoning caught up with her when she was 19 and was caught stealing from a business that belonged to a high noble. She was caught and imprisoned by that nobleman. As punishment for her crimes, Ilya was tied to a post and given a hundred lashes to her back. That was perhaps the worst moment of Ilya's life, as it lasted perhaps an eternity for her, every stroke of the whip burning through the skin on her back, marking her more and more, tearing her skin to ribbons. She passed out multiple times throughout, woke up screaming multiple times again, until it was done and she was thrown to the doctors. They patched her up and left her back in the dungeon again, where she stayed for another couple of years. During these years of captivity, life was not kind to her. Neither were her captors. The nobleman took full advantage of her in his captivity, and carried out unspeakable acts to her, things that scar her deeper than the marks of the lash on her back. She was powerless to defend against it, and it all culminated to a breaking point when she was 21. She snapped, and assaulted the nobleman. She ended up managing to fatally stab him and eventually kill him, but not before she was also killed in the attempt by the man's guards.
After her death, Ilya was found by the Shinigami. She passed onto the Soul Society peacefully after witnessing the spirit of the nobleman being sent to Hell. Once there, she spent perhaps a few years under medical care due to her psychological trauma.
Eventually, after many decades, she recovered enough to live life on her own. Despite all that had happened to her, Ilya still wanted to find out what happened to her parents, as well as her brother. She looked for ways to go about it in the afterlife, eventually finding out about the Shinigami. She realized this would be a good opportunity to further her own goals, and joined the academy.
She was not a great student at the academy. She wasn't the smartest or the brightest, pretty average in most degrees. Her combat abilities, however, were definitely commendable. She picked up how to fight very fast, and was a keen learner of combat. Despite being a very physically fragile fighter, her offensive abilities were almost recklessly suicidal at times, and her speed far outshone her peers. Despite how much she excelled at combat, however, she climbed through the stages of the academy with relative slowness, and it took her a long time before she finally graduated from the academy. This worked out somewhat usefully for her, because with all the time she required to pass the tests of the academy, she further progressed in the fields she was already good at, such as combat, so by the time she came out, she was already better than many of the lower seated officers, though not the best by a longshot. Ilya never had any drive to be the best, however. She simply wanted to be strong enough to fulfill her goals, and that is what she strives for. She is driven with the need to find what happened to her family, as well as to help those who are caught in situations like her.
