A lucrative training [Sylvia]

Sylvia was getting annoyed with this man saying he was being merciful to her. Sylvia hated any type of bindings. She didn't know why, but it annoyed her a lot. Sylvia would try to cut the chain thinking it was the only way it would come off, but would she be able to do so? Well, all she could do is try and see. Sylvia would keep cutting, but nothing would happen, what were they made out of. It was not Shikai as his sword is within his hand. So it's no reason why she couldn't cut this chain. Sylvia wouldn't attack him as it was not in her to give up and then give a sneak attack. 

Sylvia stopped swinging her sword, and as the chain was off her. Sylvia didn't understand why he used a weapon as a chain, but did he wear it around his arm all the time? Well, it didn't matter as Sylvia didn't wish to focus on the chain for two long. Alexis would start to blush as she would say being annoyed. "Yes." She would turn her head as she was sitting down on the floor looking away from him. As Alexis was listening to him, saying she could take a break Sylvia would start to blush as he started to say he never saw that reaction before.

"Shut up!" She would say crossing her arms, turning her head. This one man has embarrassed her. He was a captain something Sylvia could now agree with. He was not weak, and he beat her without moving from his spot. Sylvia would take the break but was it any point in her trying to go on in the fight. He was a captain and she didn't even have a role yet within her own squad. It was too much that pulled them apart. She would be standing up now. Trying to think what she could do next. Keep fighting or call it a day. Well, she would ask the captain who was with her to see what he would say.

Sylvia looked towards him asking in a soft voice. "What should we do now?" Sylvia had to own up to what she said before. "I lost so I am sorry for saying you were not the captain, and not showing you any type of respect." Sylvia did feel sorry. She knows if you gain respect like he has and become a captain. You have earned respect. Something Sylvia didn't give him. Which was her fault? She would look at him as she was blushing. Waiting to see what he would say. Was he going to be angry? calm? All she could do is wait and see what he happens to say.

Sylvia did not seem particularly thankful for Aramis freeing her, but that was fine. Aramis didn't expect thanks. He did see the pink flush in her cheeks as she responded affirmatively that it was better now that her leg was freed, and that they might take a break. "Your face is turning quite pink." Aramis noted. "Are you well?" It was as close as Aramis really came to teasing or joking, as Aramis himself knew full-well that Sylvia was likely blushing out of embarrassment. Aramis had the slightest hint of a smile as Sylvia snapped at him to be silent, and even gave her the smallest of mock bows, keeping his lips sealed, though still possessing that amused smirk at Sylvia's charming and flustered reactions to his comments. "As you wish~" It seemed she was willing to accept his status as a Captain now, which was good. Sylvia's next move was to inquire what to do next. Aramis paused for a moment, allowing her to take a break from their training for a moment. "The gazelle that flees a lion has not lost the battle, it has achieved its own victory." He noted to Sylvia, in response to her admitting her defeat. "Is your wound alright?" He asked. Sylvia seemed tough, and the wound did not pierce anything vital. Still, Aramis was willing to inspect it to the best of his limited abilities. Though he was a scientist, Aramis was no doctor, and had little medical training persay, but he could do some basic things to help a wound.

"If you are willing, perhaps you might feel so inclined as to tell me about yourself miss Kasumi'Oji." He inquired. "It is useful to know who it is I am training, beyond merely her name." He commented. What wer Sylvia's driving motivations? Why would a girl who lived the pampered and spoiled life of a noble wish to engage in combat. She wouldn't be the first noble to have done so, of course-- the Kuchiki's and Kawadas were nearly all fighters, and other noble children found their ways into the ranks of the Gotei 13. But still it was a question Aramis believed worth asking. Was it for personal prestige and glory? To prove the family name? Or was it for other reasons? What did she hope to achieve? Strength? Influence? Freedom? The reasons for joining the Gotei 13 were vast in number, certainly, and nobles, Aramis expected, might give more interesting answers than most. It was easy to see why someone in Rukongai would seek to escape their dull life, and join the splendors of the Seireitei. While not all joined for the same reason, the vast majority joined for precisely that. So why would a noble, who already lived in splendor and glamour, choose to engage in the dangerous work that Shinigami worked in.

Sylvia did hate being brought down by someone. It didn't matter if that person was a captain or another noble. She just didn't like losing to anyone. That is why Sylvia needed to grow stronger. Sylvia would be a little caught off guard as he noticed her face was turning red. She would tell him in a shy yet commanding tone. "No, it's not. Yes, I am fine." She didn't wish for people to see that of her. She was embarrassed and it was easy to see he knew. As Sylvia could see him smiling. She didn't like to say that. She was in the wrong but it was no hiding it. His power was that of a captain. The man was talking like he was wise, she has seen it in many manga that Sylvia has started to read, but she wouldn't say this.

As that was something she never wished to tell the world about. A noble like herself liking manga.......It was too embarrassing to tell anyone in her eye's. As the man asked if her wound was okay, she would turn her head pounting. "Yes, it's fine." Her wound was still hurting but she would live from it. It would take more and this to hurt her. She was asked an odd question. Tell him more about herself, she didn't really know what to say about that. She was a young girl who didn't get any attention from her father. As he was to focus on his research to spend any time with her, or even notice her.

She would say now really being shy about giving her answer to him. "Well, I will tell you. If you tell nobody else." She would only say it if he promises and said he wouldn't tell anyone. As she was looking down to the floor turning red. "I wish to get my father's attention, and show him. I am worthy of him to care about me." It was a little odd for someone to say that. As it could just be a spoiled girl wishing for more, but the moment she was born he has never even really notice her. Sylvia did wish to become stronger, but her main goal was to show her father. That she was worthy. As he doesn't really speak to her. 

[Aramis Tezuka]

Aramis's face did not betray any of his thoughts at her motivation for battle. "I see. Parental approval?" He clarified. In truth that hit closer to home for Aramis than Sylvia knew. Aramis too sought to bring glory to his father's name. Aramis had born several names in his short life. Tezuka, Kuchiki for a brief time in Squad 6. But secretly, he wished to be able to call himself Bokuga. The name of the man he considered his true and proper father. Not the hellspawn that had created him (in this case, hellspawn could be considered to be taken VERY literally). Of course, unlike Sylvia, Aramis's father had disappeared long ago. Aramis had nobody to seek approval from besides himself. Aramis seemed deep in thought for he did not reply for a moment. After some deliberation, however, he reached up and adjusted his glasses. "Whatever your motivation is, as long as it is strong, that is what is important." He stated. "An honest answer is good. However..." His eyes zeroed in on Sylvia again, changing from the vacant expression they had held before to fix themselves on her. "You say that you wish to prove yourself worthy of his care. To whom do you wish to prove that to? Him? Or yourself?" He asked. Fortunately for Sylvia, the thoughts she feared did not cross Aramis's mind (though the thought that she might think that did). He did not think of her goals as silly, nor those of a spoiled girl. Whether that was bias on his part or not was uncertain.

"Your secret is safe with me." Aramis stated coolly, and rose to his feet again. "Are you rested, Miss Kasumi'Oji?" He asked. "If you wish, we may resume." He suggested. "Our introduction was interesting, but I came to train you today. It would be remiss for me to leave you just with a wound and nothing to show." For the time being, Aramis was speaking clearly which was good. His intent was obvious for now at least. "And I will grant you incentive. For each blow you land upon me in the next bout, I will grant you a request, if it is within my power to grant." He told her. "Consider them rewards for exceptional work." He added, drawing his rapier from its sheath again. "It may be the answer to a question. It may be a service. It may be a favor. Whatever you may think of. Perhaps it shall ensure that I too keep my abilities sharp, and I do not lack for defense." Aramis performed a traditional fencing salute. "Whenever you are ready, Miss Kasumi'Oji."

She did wish to earn the respect of her father, but it was not easy, and Sylvia didn't see it happening. Even if she did gain the rank of captain, her father would just use her, but that was better and him not paying any type of attention to her at all. Sylvia heard him speak, saying it didn't matter what her reason was. As long, as it would make you become stronger in your goal. That was something she could agree with and would say in a soft tone, looking away. "I know." She was never going to give up on becoming a stronger soul reaper. She first needed to learn her zanpakuto's name.

Sylvia would hear him, but she did know what to say right away. It was not like she has never thought about it. "I wish to prove it for me and him." With Sylvia it was no just wishing to prove it for herself, or just him. She wished to show herself, that she could become stronger, and also to her father. Sylvia would keep listening to the man speak. She needed to keep fighting. As the man would draw his sword. It did look a little odd, she has not seen him use any type of shikia. Why did his sword have a form without calling the name? Well It didn't matter for now as she would get up ready to fight.

As she was up, Sylvia would have her sword out once more running right towards him. Getting ready to slash his right shoulder. She wished to see how he would reply to this attack, and could he dodge it without trying well it would soon be seen. As she did this, Sylvia would fire one of her spells towards him using her free hand. "Bakudo #4: Hainawa" As a gold rope would aim to wrap around his sword. If her spell hit, she would aim to push his sword out from his hand, and away from him. She didn't know if it would work, but it was shown her kido didn't work for long. That is why she needed to be quick.

Aramis saw Sylvia look away as she told him that she knew. Aramis spoke quietly again. "C. Eye contact, if you please. Averting your gaze suggests a lack of conviction." Not that he was necessarily one to talk, but when making a statement of conviction, Aramis at least tried to do this. Strong statements were harder to take seriously if you were mumbling them into your shoulder after all! Though to be fair, Aramis had only ever delivered one such statement in his life (out loud anyways), which had been during his Captaincy test against Francis Grin. But back to the present, Sylvia was clearly thinking. Aramis took some time to observe Sylvia as she thought. She did, at a glance, have all the bearings of nobility. Revising his previous assessment, Aramis did concede that Sylvia was not unattractive, and it seemed, now that she had mellowed since their initial meeting, she was agreeable enough that Aramis could see himself coming to enjoy these training sessions. If he considered Sylvia a project, he found it interesting to consider how far he might be able to take her. It was too early to even see her potential yet though, so it had best be that they resumed training soon.

Sylvia seemed to find her answer, and told Aramis that both his conjectures had been correct. Aramis gave an accepting nod. "B. An acceptable answer." He told her. Not the best answer in the world, but not a bad one either. Improving and proving one's own power to herself would have been a fair enough goal. While others may have disdained the thought of trying to prove your worth to someone else, Aramis understood that motivation as well. He understood it too well in fact. To be pursuing both goals was admirable enough, though perhaps harder than merely satisfying one of the two. He noticed Sylvia looking at his rapier, and shrugged his shoulders. "A zanpakuto takes a form most fitting for its wielder. I am ill suited to the hack and slash methods of fighting that shinigami seem to enjoy. Rapiers are weapons of exacting precision. Is it so unusual I should wield one?" He asked her as he saw Sylvia rise to her feet. Regardless of her answer, she was intent on resuming their battle, and had drawn her sword against him. Now let us see how you fight me seriously.

Sylvia opened with a charging slash at Aramis's right shoulder, and the Nakabakki raised his sword to check Sylvia's swing, stepping back as he did so. The chain appeared again from his sleeve, and he cast the heavy weight at its end at Sylvia's torso. Aramis specifically aimed below Sylvia's ribs as he had no desire to break the Kasumi'Oji's bones. If this hit, it would hurt, certainly, and leave a bruise, but it would not cause serious injury. Unlike before this was not a wrapping motion, but a proper strike. As the blow would strike, Aramis would jerk his arm back, whipping the chain back to him like the tip of a whip, to catch it in his open palm. But there was a small hiccup in this plan. He sensed the reiatsu building up in Sylvia as she cast the Hainawa, and prepared his own reiatsu, allowing it to flare out as before, to counter the Hainawa. But he had anticipated wrong, and had not anticipated Sylvia aiming for his rapier instead. The Bakudo bound his blade tightly, but Aramis tightened his grip, so that when Sylvia attempted to wrench it from his hand, he was able to retain hold of it. However, this effort slowed his check a hair, and his parry of Sylvia's blow was imperfect. His blade glanced off of hers, and, in accompaniment with his backstep, this succeeded in mitigating most of Syvlia's attack, but not all of it. The tip of her katana sliced open the fabric covering his shoulder, and grazed the flesh below. Due to cutback, Aramis was not harmed by this blow, but it had landed, nonetheless.

"Well done. I was careless. That was a strike." Aramis told Sylvia calmly, and without inflection in his voice. "C+. You have earned your first favor." He said, moments before casting his chain again, this time aiming at Sylvia's hand, gripping her Zanpakuto. He intended it to cause sufficient pain that she would drop her weapon. Even if that failed, Aramis would dart in with a cut from his rapier at Sylvia's forward leg, changing tactics. Before, Aramis had used almost exclusively thrusts with his rapier, so suddenly changing to a quick cutting motion may have been a surprise to Sylvia. However, Aramis leveraged the advantage of his weapon's reach, intending to slice her leg only with the tip of his sword. This also served as a soft counter to Sylvia's Hainawa. Afterall, a rope could hardly bind his weapon if it wasn't taut. By moving in against Sylvia, Aramis would be loosening the binding and restriction to his movement, without having to discard his blade.
