Xaldin was still prepared when his thrust failed and she rolled close to him. He pulled himself back putting the wooden part of the spear between him and her knife. The metal would make a hard thunk as it glanced the wood. He backed off trying to get away from her, but it seemed that he didn't need to, she was retreating into the tall grass. Two could play at that game, Xaldin though as he too hid in the tall grass using his own stealth to try to out flank her.
The two were like sharks in the grass. Each trying to circle around the other to get the best striking spot. Xaldin would see a glimpse of her tail and lay low ready to pounce on her. He readied his spear leaping into the air with the spear pointed down. He knew that she may notice him above her and dodge the attack, but he would pursue with two more thrusts of his spear to keep her on her toes.
Zahra was upset that he forsaw what she was doing. It seemed that he put his big huge stick in between her knife and himself. She was going to get close to him and try to injure him, no matter what was going to happen. She felt the knife glance the wood of the big stick and knew that she needed to try to get around his defense. The stick was making that part very difficult. No matter, she was going to hit this fox. She watched him going into the grass as well.
But, there was something that he didn't know about her. She had trained herself to see through other stealth, so she couldn't be snuck up on. So, with this skill, she was able to see exactly where he was going. It seemed that he was going to try to catch her off guard. She was able to keep track of him. It seemed that he thought he found her so he jumped up in the air. She used her speed instead and while he was in the air, she quickly stood up, with her knife still in her hand, to strike out at him while he was in mid-air.
Xaldin realized his mistake too late. He turned his head seeing her slice at his back. He felt the blade cut through the fabric of his shirt and cut through his fur and skin. He yelped as he hit the ground in a roll. It was a long cut but not very deep. He used his spear to get back up to his feet getting back into his fighting stance. Playing it safe wasn't going to work now. She was too fast for that. He clenched his teeth as pain shot through his back as he moved. He had to try and ignore the pain.
He rushed at her spear out stretched. he chopped down at her as hard and fast as he could. Then continued the motion to go into a back hand horizontal slice. If she stayed close to him, he would drop the spear and try to tackle. If she wanted to fight in close, then he would fight her knife to claw.
Zahra watched as her blade hit home against Xaldin. She was a little sad that she injured him, but was happier that it was a fairly shallow slash. After she slashed at him, she hid back into the grass. It seemed like the cut caused him pain, but she tried to push it from her mind. He was the one that wanted to fight her, and this is what he was going to get out of her. She kept by his feet, watching to see what he would try to do next.
He got back to his feet after her slash and was rushing at her last location. When he chopped down on her, she quickly ran off towards his left side, keeping her senses alert, ears flicking around to try to help her hear any attack he might be doing. Since she had avoided the chop, and had continued running around his left side, she avoided the horizontal slice. She appeared on his right side, trying to slash at his right side. She wanted to see what he would do.
Xaldin used his senses to keep track of Zahra as she bade his way around him. He knew that she was too fast for him to catch up to. He stayed ready keeping his spear in hand. He could hear her footsteps as they may a circle around him. From his left, then behind, then to his right, he kept track of her movements. He was quickly forming an idea, but he knew that he would have to take a hit to give one. He quickly turned to her ready for her this time.
When she slashed at him, he turned to her getting cut along his chest, but he was already in motion. He leapt at her grabbing her around her arms as they plummeted to the ground. If she didn't react, her back would hit the ground flat and he would try to get his jaws around her throat. If he succeeded, he would bite down on her neck just enough to mock a finishing bite.
Zahra was keeping an eye on this pup. It seemed that he caught on rather quickly. It was nice to see one so young learn that well. He kept his spear up while she circled him, trying to figure out if he was actually going to do anything else, but it seemed like he was going to keep a defensive stance. She didn't know if he just didn't know what to do against her, or was just waiting to capitalize on her while she attacked. It made no difference to her.
She watched as while she slashed, he turned towards her, taking a shallow cut across his chest. It seemed like he took the slash for a reason. The next thing she knew, he was jumping towards her. She let her arms get grabbed so she grabbed his arms at the same time. Using the momentum from his jump, she tried her best to flip him so that he was on the ground under her instead. If this worked, she would but her muzzle down on his neck and open it on his neck, biting just enough to mock the end of a fight.
The two beastkin tumbled through the grass fighting for top position. Whoever got in top position would be the one that would win the fight. Xaldin was determined. He would not be beaten so easily. He did not even manage to strike at her at all during their fight. He kept his focus solely on her, so he wouldn't get dizzy. Everything else in the world around him was black except for her. They locked together in their tumble. Xaldin was squeezing her as well as trying to stop their roll at the right time.
For a moment it looked like Zahra would end up on top, but just as their moment started to slow Xaldin pushed with his legs in the direction of their roll to flip them over one last time. He post his arms out on either side of her head putting her neck in his jaws. His teeth pushed gently against her neck signaling the end of their fight. Jak slowly widened his mouth so that he would not cut her with his teeth.
He sat on top of her with a triumphant look in his eyes. His smile was wide glad to see that his own training not undoing any of the training that he had been through his with clan. He got off her and offered her his hand to help her up. He still did not know her too well, so it would be understandable if she refused his help. He would still offer it anyway and was glad that she played with him so hard. It was his joy that helped him ignore the pain in his wounds.
She tumbled with Xaldin for a few seconds, hoping to get the high ground and win this fight. She knew for a fact that this would be the deciding factor in their fight. He was also trying his best to keep the high ground as well. She was using all of her strength to keep this going. She knew that since he was male, he would be a bit stronger than her. But, she didn't want to give him a win so easily. She would try her hardest to get in a win against him.
Though, when the momentum started to slow down, she could tell that he was trying even harder to get the dominant position. She fought back with all of her strength, trying to get in the right position. But, in the end, Xaldin used his greater strength to get the upper hand. So, after the tumble was over, she was pinned against the ground from his weight, having both hands next to her head. He then got his mouth around her neck and barely touched it but she growled just the same.
He then got most of his weight off of her and looked down at her. She growled louder that time, hoping that he got the point that she didn't like that. To her, it was too much like a dominance battle. She didn't want to start anything like that, but she kept eye contact. When he got off her, he broke the eye contact and she felt insanely better. He offered her help to get up and she accepted. He seemed pleased with himself. "Nice, you good."
He heard her growling but didn't think anything of it. He thought it was her being a bit of a sore looser. He pulled her to her feet panting now that the Adrenalin was starting to ware off. Xaldin started licking the wound on his chest. He would not be able to reach the one on his back, but he wasn't about to try and ask her for help either. The cuts were not bad at all, but like a paper cut they stung horribly. He didn't complain though, he knew what he was getting himself into.
Xaldin started to yawn getting tired from the fight. He looked on the ground for his spear, which fell in the shorter grass. He sat down beside it and started to curl up into a ball. He rested his head against his arms pulling, that just so happened to be nearby, over his back. He thought he deserved a nice nap. The warm rays of the sun sunk into his fur making him drowsy. His yellow eyes started to close as he looked at Zahra.
He motioned for her to join him with his tail before it wrapped around himself. He allowed his eyes to close all the way and get comfortable where ye was. His breathing started to slow from rapid breathing to slow even breaths of. He wouldn't notice if she left until he woke up. He would be sad that she left of course, but he would also understand that she must have had someone else to meet. The young fox slept with a contented smile relaxed and happy for the first time in many years.
It was nice that she was able to get help up, but it didn't click yet with this young pup what he actually did to her. No matter, she brushed it off as his naivete and let it go. She wasn't going to hold a grudge against him. But, she would remember this for the future, if she ran into him again, which she assumed she probably would. She watched as he started to clean out his own wounds. She checked her inventory of knives to make sure that they were all in order which they were.
She started to stretch out from their little fight. She moved around her arms, twisted her torso, stretched out her legs and made sure that nothing was broken or anything. Thankfully, she was doing good. She didn't get hit really, but she was able to get some slashes in on him. So, all in all, it was pretty much a victory for her. She looked over and it seemed like the pup was starting to get tired. He grabbed his stick and was starting to get comfy and bed down.
He motioned with his tail for her to join him. She tail flicked around as she walked over to join the pup. He wrapped himself with his tail and was looking pretty comfortable in the grass. She watched him fall asleep and looked at him. She had not met a young pup like him before and he was interesting, to say the least. She walked around to his face and saw him in complete happiness. It was like a weight got lifted off of his shoulders it seemed like. She smiled, petted him on the head and left the area. She couldn't spend all day here with him, she had other things to do. But, it was a nice distraction, getting to meet him.
