Technique Name: [Qualkreis]
Technique Class: [2]
Technique Type: [Ginto]
Usable By: [Quincy]
Technique Element: [Reishi]
Technique Cost: [600 Reiatsu + 2 Ginto]
Description: [The caster holds their hands to each side with a ginto tube in each palm, releasing streams of reishi into the sky, which then descend as twelve crackling pillars resembling lightning in a circular formation, roughly nine meters in diameter, before resolving into oversized quincy bows. These twelve greatbows are spaced evenly around the edge of the circle and cannot be moved from their positions, merely swiveling in place to take aim at any target within their circle that the caster desires before firing equally large arrows from all sides. Vandenreich quincy teach that these greatbows were originally those wielded by the twelve mortal disciples of the Emperor who became the very first generation of quincy, while free quincy teach that they were the bows of martyrs who died struggling against the Emperor's tyranny.
The circle of greatbows that make up Qualkreis can nock and fire a single arrow per post for a duration of four posts, for a total of forty-eight arrows. These hours are treated as if they were class two Heilig Pfeil, possess the same speed as standard quincy arrows, and use the caster's full reiatsu strength as their OS. These arrows cannot be guided nor made to explode, and have no additional costs associated with firing them, having been included in the reiatsu cost of casting the spell.
A caster who has fully Mastered Qualkreis may apply a single Form or Power property of their bow release to the arrows fired by this spell; a property must be active at the time of casting to be used in this way and becomes “locked,” rendering them unable to willingly deactivate said property for the duration of the spell. That property is only applied to the arrows, and cannot have an effect on the greatbows themselves; thus, only Form properties that make alterations to arrows may be used; the same limitation applies to Power properties. Other types of property cannot be applied to Qualkreis.]
How to Use: [Hold a Ginto tube in each hand and speak the incantation to prime them, then pay the reiatsu cost to actualize the spell.]
Drawbacks: [Unlike the majority of quincy spells, Qualkreis requires two ginto tubes to cast. The greatbows cannot be moved once formed and cannot fire at any target outside of the circle. The arrows that these greatbows fire cannot leave the circle and dissolve into reishi upon reaching its edge. An opponent who escapes the circle cannot be harmed by further volleys. Even within the circle, the arrows may be evaded, defeated in clashes, or otherwise overcome like standard projectiles.
A property applied to Qualkreis cannot be willingly deactivated for the duration of the spell, limiting the caster's flexibility in using their bow release. The caster cannot deactivate the property, exchange it for another, or use any techniques, items, or release abilities that would force it to deactivate, although other characters may still use such techniques, items, or release abilities on the caster.]
Incantation: [“Twelve towers of salt! Crumble in the wind and melt in the rain! Circling ravens! Approach as a storm and enclose as a hedge of thorns! The poisoned chalice is lifted, and searing whip of smoke and steel is brought down!”]
