Waking up was never pleasant. Not down here. It was a cold that chilled your bones down to the marrow, and one that would claim you forever if you stayed too long. That's how Kitai always woke up in Hell. His eyes snapped open as he started thrashing about. He was deep under an ocean of ice, and he had to swim to the top before he drowned, like the other traitors. He could feel ice freezing over his skin as he swam up. He couldn't afford to stay still, he couldn't hesitate or a fate worse than death would overtake him. He wouldn't let his latest death go unanswered.
Desperate were his movements, as his body moved with all the strength he could muster. Every action was like needles through his muscles. He could feel his right eye glazing over, destroyed once again from the bitter cold of the frozen ocean. He let out a muted scream, yelling out in defiance at the world he was trapped in once again. He slammed against a sheet of ice covering the surface. His fist slammed against it. Once. Twice. He was starting to fade, lungs filling with water. He struggled to keep conscious. He grit his teeth, as the fires of his wrath were the only warmth he could feel. With a burst of reiatsu, his third punch shattered the surface of the ocean.
As he breached the surface, he vomited out water before taking a breath of air, gasping as he did so. More bitter cold, he could feel no warmth up here either. "Y-y-y-you l-l-l-e-" He tried to make a quip, something to raise his spirits, but the cold had him shaking too much. He didn't have the time anyway, as he was sure something noticed his return to the lands of the dead. With a flicker, his body caught ablaze, as his form turned to fire and flame, flying across the frozen ocean. He couldn't remember a time where he respawned so deep into it. It wasn't like he had betrayed Kazura that badly before he died, and even then, his first death had manifested him inside the ice caves not some frozen... Ocean.
Kitai only too late realized what that could mean, as a dark shadow passed from underneath the sheet of ice. It was colossal, something no living thing could ever think to grow to. An arm grew out from his shapeless flaming form, redirecting his momentum, as the gargantuan beast breached the surface, as if the ice weren't even there. Bigger, bigger, the form of the beast seemed without end, and even Kitai couldn't outrun its titanic size. Kitai tried not to panic, but a pit of ice was forming where his stomach should have been. He should have known that he'd have to deal with this eventually, but he had hoped he would have a little more time to get out of dodge.
His old enemy. Leviathan.
He was running down the beast's back now, looking for a way to escape the consequences of his actions. So he killed the beast's followers and prevented it from escaping Hell and causing the beginning of the Apocalypse, sue him, he didn't want more Hell in the worlds, he wanted less! The beast was still rising, how was it still rising!? It was almost vertical now, and his eyes were looking for something. anything- Wait! He spied a large chunk of ice that had yet to fall. Eleven more arms manifested from his flaming form, moving with all the speed they could muster.
"KITAI!"
The roar was so loud and deep that he wasn't sure if it was his voice, or if it was another iceberg breaking against its form, but it knocked him out of his transformation. He was falling. His wings, limbs that he rarely used, glided towards the now falling hunk of ice. He was sure he could feel the eyes of the beast on him now. Dark and ancient, the abyss was gazing at him. He slammed into the ice, sure that he had broken something, and unwilling to care at the moment, knowing that a dented skull, or seven shattered ribs could be fixed later.
He clapped his hands together, and pressed them against the ice, clashing its will against his own. Everything had a soul, and that was no less true in Hell. The souls that formed this twisted ice screamed against his will, struggling in defiance, but Kitai screamed louder, breaking them to fill his need. Their broken bodies were twisted and reshaped, forming a key, one that he pressed against the remaining ice. The beast roared again, trying to break his creation with the power of its hatred alone, but it was too late.
The key turned, opening a portal to a place outside. Saika couldn't normally open up portals outside of Hell, but Kitai had made many a things, a few of which could cross the dimensional borders between worlds. This little stunt was eating at his reiatsu to do, burning through it like nothing he'd created before. He could feel the beast shift, moving faster than a creature that size had any right to move, but it was too late. Kitai dived through the gateway, slamming the door shut as he crossed over. The last thing he saw as he escaped Hell, was the maw of the Leviathan, a mouth big enough to swallow the world, slam down on his portal. Even in another dimension, he could feel the crunch it made.
He was shaking. From fear of cold, he neither knew nor cared. He collapsed to the forest floor. His Waffle House, the one safe place he could return to. As he was looking up at the sky, a bear came into view. It stood above him, sniffing at his face. Or, his mask. "Let me fix that." He said, snapping his shaking fingers, as he manifested a gigai around him. He was made into human flesh once more. "Much better." The bear liked his face, getting a chuckle out of the Lunatic. "Yeah yeah, you're lucky you're cute. Now help me up."
