Iroka's released flame spell descended on the dog which had attacked her. The blue flames quickly removed it from where it was attempting to drag her by her ankle. One moment the mangy cur was there, the next, it had been reduced into ash. Not even any chunks of smoldering meat remained. It had died so quickly that it had not even managed to make a sound.
But Iroka could not remain where she had fallen for long. Her Sōkatsui, while having immolated the dog, had also made a huge gaping wound in the strange wall of wherever they were. A large flood of blood gushed out, burning the carrot-top and sending her to her feet as fast as possible. She could not afford to stay lying in this strange substance, whatever it was. "Ow ow ow," she said, as she tried to remove what acidic blood lay on her.
Fortunately, Fuuko came to the rescue. Using her Shikai's abilities, the blonde absorbed the large amounts of gushing blood into her released weapon. It seemed that, no matter the nature of the strange acidic liquid, it was blood. And if it was blood, then Fuuko had the advantage. It was funny to Iroka that her sworn sister always complained about the power of her zanpakutō, when Iroka thought it was mighty useful.
But that was not the only thing that would surprise Iroka. Fuuko yelled a command, one Iroka was familiar with. But the effects were different from what the ginger-haired girl remembered. As her wounds healed, Iroka noted the weird blood globule that seeped out of her body, even as whatever blood she had lost to the dog bite was restored. And Fuuko's weapon absorbed the globule with a dramatic sound.
"Oni-chan, that was so AWESOME!!!" Iroka gushed in delight. "You've been really busy improving with Shu-shu-chan, haven't you? I'm so impressed!" she said honestly, hopping excitedly over to Fuuko. Closing the distance between them, she held out her hands, and a green glow formed between them and Fuuko's injury, as the wound began to summarily heal itself. Had Shukketsubuki not disliked the nickname Iroka had given her? Too bad, the carrot-top had forgotten.
As Ghost was close by, he would very likely have been in the vicinity of Fuuko's Blood Rain, so he likely would have been healed. Still, Iroka came over to him to check his wounds, after attending to Fuuko. She was a medic, after all; her job was to save lives and heal injuries. And even though Ghost was a potential enemy, it was necessary to have as much help as they could get, and an injured Ghost was less help than an uninjured Ghost. Still, Iroka put on as annoyed a face as she could afford, which only ended up being comically cute.
"We're not friends, Entotsu-san," she said, "but you may need healing. So behave yourself and stop singing about London Bridge. Last time, you said it was falling down, but I checked and it was fine. So how can you tell, especially as we're so many miles away? Lies won't impress anyone here."
Eventually, having attended to her two partners, Iroka turned to Fuuko. "Hey, Oni-chan, I just had an interesting idea. How much blood can Shu-shu-chan absorb?" She pointed down the length of the strange tunnel. "I think we should keep heading down, and if we feel bored or something, I can open wounds in this thing. In the meantime, if those annoying mists come up again, you can just 'Blood Rain' them out of existence. Entotsu-san can... he can, um, behave himself until we pass judgment on him."
