It had been so long since Celes enjoyed a casual visit to the World of the Living. Not only did she have trouble at home with the reconstruction of the Tenth Barracks and Central 46 effectively forcing a Shin'ō graduate on her, but the last few missions to the Human World had been met with unforeseen complications. Needless to say, it really bummed Celes out. She needed a pick-me-up, especially on what was intended to be her day off. Thankfully, there were plenty of options in the metropolitan city of Philadelphia.

Walking along the densely filled sidewalk of Philly, Celes found a myriad of options. She could visit Chinatown... See the liberty bell... Hell, she could go to one of the many martial arts schools that had taken root in the city. However, none of these is what she needed at the moment. Walking a few more blocks, weaving around groups of people, Celes saw a store across the street that suddenly piqued her interest. Waiting for cars to stop at the sidewalk, a courtesy which took an obscenely long time, Celes eventually crossed the street and gently pushed open the doors.

Slipping in, Celes found herself in a Wawa for the very first time. Just like the sidewalks, the convenience store was filled with a ton of people. Countless rows stretched towards the end of the store, filled with candy and other goods, touch-screens dotted the countertops and several fridges stood at the back of the store which stored cooled drinks. It was certainly a different experience to the Captain who had, who had only a few times in her life, been to a convenience store.

Walking up to one of the screens, Celes touched the screen to start her order. Next, several options popped up on the side. "Let's see... lunch... dinner... deli... Ah. Beverages.", she muttered to herself and tapped the screen. More times than she could remember, Chika, and even Camila, always raved about gas station slushies. As more options lit up, Celes tried to look for slushie. No matter how many times she read the screen, though, it never showed the option she was looking for. Hell, a few times she even backed out of her order entirely and she scoured for the option. Eventually, she'd let out a sigh.

"Damn it... guess they don't have it here.", she spoke dejectedly. Giving it another shot, she looked at the other options. "Hmm. What about a smoothie? That sounds good.", she thought to herself. Tapping it gently, the screen popped up with even more options. Her eyes widened as she looked at the wide variety of smoothies, eliciting a soft groan. "Shit.", she muttered under her breath. Giving up, the girl just closed her eyes and picked somee random options before printing her receipt.

Heading over to the cash register, the girl standing behind the register greeted her with a soft smile. "Hows' your day today, Ma'am?" Celes blinked and spoke softly, "Not too bad, I guess.", flashing a weak smile in return. Scanning the receipt, the girl rang her up. Paying for the drink with a 5 dollar bill and some change, Celes went to stand in the middle of her store. She looked at the top of her slip and saw that she was order #742. Suddenly, she heard someone call out, "#728, cheeseburger and fries." Celes sighed and whined softly, "Damn it... this is gonna take a while."

Taking a deep breath, Hiyori continued to walk down the busy streets of Philadelphia. After having just finished a mission of her own, she decided that a much-needed break was in order before returning to Silbern for the afternoon. After all, she couldn't keep on the road all day. Such would've just worked to tire herself out. So, instead, it was time to get some food.

Walking into a nearby Wawa, she took a moment to look around. There were quite a number of options regarding what she could've gotten, though she wasn't exactly inclined to get too too much. Looking over what she could pick out, she eventually found herself settling over something rather simple for her afternoon lunch. Walking up to the counter and placing an order where appropriate, she looked down at the receipt she was given. "#728, huh?" she spoke softly, simply waiting about.

Within a short second later, the next number in order had been called. "#715, cajun turkey panini." Sighing softly, it seemed that she was to be here for a little while. If nothing else, she could've taken the opportunity to explore a little bit. Granted, she stuck out like a sore thumb, walking around Philadelphia in in her Shihakkushō lookalike and kasa, but that wasn't particularly of concern for her. If anyone had a problem with it, she'd just challenge them then and there.

After about twenty or so minutes of exploring, taking in some of the sights, and overall just trying to enjoy her afternoon, Hiyori made her way back into the Wawa, meandering back toward the pick-up area, and 'accidentally' bumping into a green-haired girl that happened to be nearby. "Oh, my apologies," she spoke softly, "didn't quite see you there." With a soft chuckle, Hiyori simply stood forward and continued to watch the counter. In time, her number had been called. "#728, cheeseburger and fries."

Hearing the girl next to her speak, Hiyori once again chuckled. "Oh, it can't be that bad," she spoke, "I'm sure your order will be out quicker than you think, Celes Shindazu." Leaving her words at that, Hiyori went up to the counter, and began to grab her food. Thanking the person behind the counter, she continued to make her way back out toward the exit, sitting at one of the small tables just outside the place, facing the entrance of the building. With that, she began to eat, and wait.

Suffice it to say, Celes was not pleased with having to wait for a whole 14 people ahead of her. She'd tap her foot a little impatiently, crossing her arms, and let out a sigh. I just want my fooood..., she thought to herself. Suddenly, the Captain felt someone bump into her, briefly knocking her off balance. Flailing her arms wildly, she shrieked, "Eeeep!!!" On reflex, Celes quickly kicked her leg back to balance herself out again. She'd let out a sigh of relief, placing her hand gently onto her own chest.

"Oh, my apologies,", a soft voice perked up just off to her side. "didn't quite see you there." Despite the apology, Celes was a little incensed as she whipped her head around towards the woman and raised her voice, "Watch out where you're going next time!!!" Her lip curled into a bit of a pout as she didn't pay the woman any further mind. In fact, she turned in the almost completely opposite direction.

As the Captain let out her little whine about the wait time, the woman beside her perked up again. "Oh, it can't be that bad," Celes growled very softly, "The nerve of this one. Who the hell does she think sh-" "I'm sure your order will be out quicker than you think, Celes Shindazu." In what felt like an instant, Celes' concentration was practically broken as her eyes widened.

Her head immediately turned to look at the woman, but she was going to get her food from the counter. Turns out that she was #728. She was already incredibly leery of this stranger for using her full name, but then Celes finally gave her the attention she deserved. As she walked towards one of the tables to enjoy her meal, Celes noted a few things about her. First, this girl had a white shihakusho not unlike the elite guard of the Central 46 whom she had met before. To see the elite guard here, though? That was highly unlikely. Then there was her kasa which covered her head except for a few loose strands of dark green hair. Finally, complementing her shihakusho, Celes saw a coat draped over her shoulder, the design of which reminded her of a Quincy.

Celes squinted her eyes for a moment, practically staring at the girl across the store without any shame. "Please don't tell me that another one is after me again?! Can't I really never catch a break...?" For now, she'd simply stare ahead and wait for her order, shooting occasional glances over to assure that the coast was clear. Slowly, but surely, the number of people in line was beginning to be whittled down. First ten, then seven, soon five. Before she knew it, Celes would be walking up to the counter and flash the woman behind a brief smile. "Thank you so much..."

Grabbing her smoothie, the girl brought it to her lips and took a sip. It was... great! The smoothie had been topped with whipped cream and a cherry which helped enrich the combination of blueberry and pomegranate. In fact, she almost had to hold herself back from drinking all of it here and now. After all, she still had this mysterious stranger to deal with. This woman, presumably a Quincy, seemed to know her. Actually, the way in which she was approached and using Celes' name seemed more for shock value. Almost playful. It reminded her of a particular acquaintance. Someone whom she hadn't seen in a while. "Could it really be...?" The girl shook her head, allowing the thought to trail off. Even if it was her, she didn't have time for this. More accurately, she wasn't in the mood to deal with her antics!

With her smoothie in hand, Celes began to slowly make her way to the exit, practically ignoring the Quincy aside from a few annoyed looks. In fact, just as she reached the exit beside Hiyori, Celes spoke softly, "I don't know what kind of game you are playing but I'm not in the mood. I already had to deal with one of your number a few days ago so you best stay out of my way.", clearly making a threat. She let out another pout accompanied by a small "Hmpf." With that, she pushed open the door and made her way back onto the sidewalk, taking small sips of her smoothie every now and then. Hopefully the girl got the message and just left her alone.

As Celes made her way outside the building, Hiyori watched the girl through the straw of her kasa, careful to avoid revealing her face to the Shinigami Captain. As Celes approached, Hiyori simply took a bite from her burger, facing the girl as she spoke. Truthfully, Celes' own words stung. Quite a bit. Though while the captain had no reason to know why, it was enough to push Hiyori to stand up from her seat.

"Is that so?" She asked, her tone of voice growing just a bit more harsh, "well then, Captain Shindazu, I formally challenge you to a duel until one of us yields." Making sure to face the girl, Hiyori held one hand out beside her, a blade forming in her hand through her bow release. As the sheathed weapon took hold, the other formed on her hip, similarly prompting Hiyori to place the weapon into its designated spot on her hip. Naturally, such was just for dramatic effect.

Slowly drawing her blade, before pointing the weapon toward the Shinigami Captain, Hiyori blitzed forward at ten times her normal speed, preparing to land a strike across her sister's chest. It wasn't to be anything immediately lethal, but the goal was to be enough to cause a good bit of pain. Taking a hop backward, if she struck properly, Hiyori would shake the blood from her weapon, flinging it onto the pavement beneath her. Maintaining her view on the captain, and keeping her head lowered as to conceal her face, Hiyori slowly moved both hands toward her sword.

"If you're willing to indulge me that is, dearest Celes. Surely you remember." In truth, something like that wasn't a far-off possibility, if Celes had remembered the girl's fighting style. It was something certainly reminiscent of Zanjutsu, but with a personal twist on it. Something that, if Celes remembered past time training with the ex-Captain, it might just bring something to mind.

"If you accept this duel with me, Celes, I might just show you who I am."

{Class 6 - Arrow Form - 神剣 - Shinken (lit. 'Divine Sword')}
The first of Hiyori's Bow Release properties, Shinken allows Hiyori to transform the arrows she fires into katana. This is an opt-in ability, and need not be activated with each firing of her bow. Upon activation of this property, two of these katana-arrows form immediately on Hiyori's hip at a Class equal to her own, for no cost. Each katana fired after that costs an additional 10 reiatsu per Class of the arrow. When this property is deactivated, all but the two katana on Hiyori's hip will revert to normal arrows.

Exiting the Wawa with her treat, Celes was looking forward to a nice and relaxing rest of her day. Unfortunately, it seemed that it never was that easy with Quincy. Before she even had the chance to leave the block, the Captain would meet some resistance with this Quincy. "Is that so?", the woman commented in response to Celes' threat. It was, however, her next comment that suddenly caught the Shinigami's attention. "well then, Captain Shindazu, I formally challenge you to a duel until one of us yields." Celes stopped walking for a moment and turned her head towards the Quincy. "Excuse me?"

Not only did this girl use a title that she had no love for, but she was also challenged to a duel. If nothing else, it incensed Celes even more. She thought that she had made herself clear, but it seems as though it had fallen on deaf ears. In fact, Hiyori further confirmed the challenge as she flared her spiritual energy. The Captain of the Tenth hissed under her breath and fully turned around to face her aggressor. Before Celes' eyes, the girl had summoned two sheaths, one in her hand and another pressed against her hip, out of thin air. Slowly, but surely, the Quincy drew her blade and pointed it at the Captain.

At this point, Celes was practically staring daggers at Hiyori. It was one thing to draw your weapon, but it was an entirely different act to actually use it. Unfortunately for the Captain, it seemed that this was not just some idle threat. The Quincy suddenly disappeared and a few moments later, Celes would find the Quincy within arms reach of her, the straw hat filling her vision. Almost immediately, the Captain cursed herself for being in a Gigai. After all, it dampened her capabilities to effectively house her spiritual body. Enough spiritual energy or even physical strength would threaten to tear the gigai at the seams. As such, the girl simply put up a basic guard.

Unfortunately, despite her best efforts, Celes would be far too slow and weak faux body to do anything. Almost effortlessly, Hiyori's sword would rip through her clothing and pierce her flesh as a streak and bright red blood splattered the nearby building. In the moment, even despite the injury to her chest, Celes didn't howl in pain. Hell, she didn't even flinch as she was struck. However, the force of the blow sent the Captain backward two or so dozen feet.

As one could expect, this beginning would shock the surrounding bystanders. Many of them flew into a state of hysteria, quickly fleeing for their lives as a crazy woman with a katana struck at someone else. Celes growled softly in annoyance but was disrupted by the gentle feeling of liquid dripping from her hand. In the chaos, she gripped her smoothie too hard and practically crushed the cup beyond repair. Her gaze returned to Hiyori, staring at the woman with scorn as she tossed her smoothie aside.

"If you're willing to indulge me that is, dearest Celes. Surely you remember. If you accept this duel with me, Celes, I might just show you who I am." In truth, Celes had no idea what this woman was on about nor did she really care. This Quincy had ruined what was supposed to be her relaxing day. Allowing her spiritual pressure to flare quite strongly, Celes' gigai almost seemed to melt off, practically bursting into spiritual flames. Stepping forward, Celes wore her black hakama and a white cotton sarashi which had been wrapped tightly around her waist, arms, and bosom. Finally, she had a leather harness wrapped around her torso with a sheathed blade residing at her hip.

With one hand, she slowly drew her Zanpakutō from its sheath. Pointing the silver-bladed longsword at Hiyori, Celes pressed her other hand against her upper arm. "I don't really give a shit who you are, bitch. I'm sick and tired of people seeing me as an opportunity to test their skills. You want a fight?! You'll get the fight of your soon-to-be short life! Celes' voice was filled with scorn and pure anger. It was a far cry from the ray of sunshine she used to be.

Hiyori watched as the woman's body immediately caught flame, noting it as the tell-tale sign of the end of a Gigai. Hiyori was glad her intuition on the matter was correct, that Celes had been inhabiting one. If not, she wouldn't've forgiven herself for making such a cheap strike against her own sister. But, thankfully that wasn't the case. The fight had only just begun.

Even as Celes began to shout profanities toward her, Hiyori remained valiant. She'd seemed angry, and given the reports of the Quincy that had gone after her in the past, this seemed like it wasn't her first rodeo with the Vandenreich. Clearing a number of paces backward, Hiyori held her blade low, taking up an offensive stance. Such was unlike her, but this was a Captain after all; she needed to do what she could in order to turn this fight in her favor.

"Quite tough talk," she spoke, "are you prepared to back those words up, Celes?" Taking a deep breath, Hiyori once again went in for another strike on the girl, blitzing forward with Hirenkyaku in order to appear just beneath the girl, before going in for an upward slash vertically toward her. She hadn't aimed to cleave the woman in two, but she certainly had the force behind her strike to do so. There was little chance that Celes would've been down after such a blow.

Though, this was hardly the end of her assault. Striking against Celes with another horizontal sweep across her chest while looking to take a pace backward, Hiyori did what she could to create a bit of distance between the two. Once again holding her sword in an offensive stance, Hiyori watched Celes carefully to see what she was to do; to track her movements, and make sure that she could deal with her opponent in a reasonable timeframe. She had reason to believe that Celes was going to be strong enough to provide quite the challenge, but to what extent? Only time could tell on that front.

For now, she was going to take the time in order to prepare for an assault on the Captain. Holding her hand out in front of her, Hiyori took a hand off of her sword in order to make a command. "Fire at-will!" As she did, five samurai of shadow manifested in an instant, standing not far behind the Quincy, before nocking and firing a set of arrows at the Captain. The cavalry had arrived, was Celes ready to deal with it?

Making her declaration, it wouldn't be hard to tell that Celes was incensed. The snapped plastic cup lay against the floor as the Captain discarded it. All she wanted was a nice, quiet, relaxing day. Some time to get away from the stressors that had been plaguing her of late. However, it seemed that the Captain would always have a target painted on her back. Well, enough was enough. This woman was a Quincy? "Guess this is my chance to vent some fucking pent-up aggression." It was so unlike the Captain, but this was a unique circumstance.

Even as Hiyori addressed her threat, Celes practically scowled at her. "Quite tough talk, are you prepared to back those words up, Celes?", Hiyori remarked. Celes didn't respond with anything besides a soft "Tch.", clicking her tongue gently. She didn't need to. Glaring daggers at Hiyori, the Captain maintained her stance. This time she wouldn't play nice. No holding her punches. No banter. None of that. This was very personal to her now.

Just as before, the Quincy disappeared from sight for a brief moment. Seemingly mimicking her initial attack, Hiyori rushed forward with a Hirenkyakyu and prepared to deliver a cut to the Captain's chest. All in all, it was a simple and straightforward maneuver. A little too straightforward. Just before the Quincy delivered her vertical cut, Celes made her move. Accelerating to her full speed for a brief moment, practically becoming invisible to the naked eye, the Captain circled around Hiyori to dodge the attack and try to appear beside the Quincy.

Lifting her hand, Celes aimed to practically grab Hiyori by the face. If successful, Celes remarked in a stern tone, "I've already seen that move, Quincy." With that, Celes wasted no time rushing forward and trying to drag the Quincy woman with her. After roughly half a second, the Shinigami pivoted her body slightly, pushing down and outward. The combination of movements would lead to a vicious slam of the Quincy, aiming to knock her away and into the concrete. This push of hers harnessed all of Celes' physical prowess that she could muster at the moment.

If Hiyori was launched, the Shinigami would just stand there and sigh. After all, she knew of very few opponents that could withstand a hit like that. Just in time too as the Captain felt flickering embers of reiatsu as a voice she had learned to despise approached her. "Seriously? A smoothie is what made you go feral?" The Captain scoffed and muttered under her breath, "Oh. It's you. Do me a favor and go away." The Captain heard a soft chuckle as the Inner Hollow retorted, "And miss the show? Not on your life. Just don't go soft on me and I won't have to intervene, 'kay?." The Captain's eyebrow furrowed briefly as she shook her head.

As she went in for a strike of her own, Hiyori watched with a surprised look across her face as it seemed that Celes had vanished from sight. This woman was quick! She hadn't expected anything less from someone that she'd shared blood with. After all, Hiyori was one in the same. As Celes' own hand gripped her by the face, Hiyori listened to her words for a moment. She wasn't to do anything about the situation she was in; no, there was no need for that. Not yet, at least.

As Celes pivoted, and practically threw the woman across the ground, Hiyori found herself skidding along the concrete, kicking up quite the amount of dust and debris. With someone of Celes' strength? That would've killed practically anyone. The chances that someone were to normally survive even a simple attack like that was limited, but Hiyori had been built a little differently. As a thin cloud of debris kicked up, leaving a trail of cave-in street in her wake, Hiyori stood up from the rubble as though nothing had happened.

"You wound me with such aggressive actions, Celes," She spoke, "I am thoroughly hurt that you'd try something such as that to attack me. Such aggressive actions... was such necessary?" As the dust had settled, Hiyori was once again in full-view, though with her kasa having gone flying amidst the chaos. Her skin had been almost glowing, with a vibrant blue color trailing across her body; Blut Vene.

Though, one thing of note had been the case; her face had been visible for the first time since she'd been here. Running a hand through her hair, Hiyori continued to stare down her sister with an almost bored expression on her face. Was Celes to recognize her? She hadn't known, but if that wasn't the case, Hiyori was not about to say something to the woman. Not yet, at least. "Well, so much for that," she spoke, drawing her blade once more, before pointing it toward Celes. "Do try to at least put up a fight, yeah?"

Once again appearing by Celes' side, Hiyori stepped closer, though this time held a low stance. Looking to catch the girl off-guard, the sword in her hand had been gone. Instead, Hiyori had sought to go for a physical strike against the woman with her own hands; a rising palm strike to the sternum. Though, this wasn't an ordinary strike; assuming her blow to the girl's chest had found itself connecting, her aim was to shatter bones. Backed by her own practice in martial arts, Hiyori had prepared to implement what she knew on this Captain. Not to mention, the explosive force generated from the reiatsu output coursing through her body. Even if the captain had gone for a counterblow, Hiyori's Blut Vene meant she was willing to roll with the punch in order to keep herself even slightly protected. Given the Captain had more power backing her strikes normally, this likely wouldn't amount to much protection, but some was better than nothing.

Whether or not she was successful, her next goal was to follow up with a stomp on the Captain's instep, similarly charged to break a number of bones where possible. If she could, disabling her foe was predominantly the goal here. Though, she hadn't expected Celes to go down so easily. She knew her sister somewhat well; there was no way that this would be wrapped up in seconds like that!

{Blut}Technique Name: Blut (Blood)

Technique Class: 3 - 80 TTP

Technique Type: Vandenreich.

Usable By: Vandenreich Quincy.

Technique Element: Spirit.

Technique Cost: 300 Reiatsu/post for Vene, 500 Reiatsu/post for Arterie.

Description: Blut, translated as “blood,” is a powerful technique that is passed down through all pure-blooded Quincies of the Vandenreich Empire. This technique is a gift from the Vandenreich Emperor, and only exists as long as he, or someone of similar power who has assumed his role, is alive. Channeling that leader's power through their very veins, Vandenreich Quincy are able to draw upon it and make use of it either defensively or offensively in combat. This technique is not active by default, however, and a cost must be paid to trigger it.

The first half of this technique is Blut Vein, the defensive half of the ability. Acting similar to an Arrancar's Hierro, Blut Vein allows the user to protect themselves on the skin level, preventing any physical damage to the body as long as the user possesses a superior offensive stat. Unlike Hierro, though, this armor will not degrade over time. However, attacks with impact behind them can still send the user flying, though the bodily damage will be negated. Blut Vein costs 300 Reiatsu per post to keep active.

The other half of the technique is Blut Arterie, which focuses on offensive ability. While this ability is active, the Emperor's power flows through the user's body and soul, doubling either physical or spiritual stats. This takes up one of the user's long-term stat boost slots, and costs 500 Reiatsu per post to keep active. Note that only one of these two techniques can be active at a time; if one is activated, the other is deactivated.

How to Use: Spend Reiatsu to draw out the latent power in the user's blood.

Drawbacks: The first major drawback to Blut Vein is that it can be bypassed in one of three ways. First, if the opponent's offensive stat is higher by even a single point, then Blut Vein is ignored. Second, if the opponent is of a superior Class, then Blut Vein is bypassed. Finally, “final forms” of Release, such as Bankai, can ignore Blut Vein.

Blut Arterie has its own drawbacks as well. When active, Blut Vein is removed, removing the user's defenses. Aside from taking up a stat boost slot, the user is constantly funneling excess energy through their body, which is a tiring effect over time. Finally, while active, the user draws in half as much Reiatsu per post as normal, as they are focused on output more than they are on drawing it in.

Description: This technique is one that makes use of the body directly, using the user’s spiritual strength to increase the body’s capabilities in specific ways. Like Willpower, this technique comes in stages as well, but is limited to two:
[Stage 1: Push]: This power coats the user in a sort of "Output Aura." It does two things. First, awareness can extend out by two more inches. This means someone will become more aware of an incoming attack two inches of distance from the attack earlier than normal. It means that one can try to use this to predict enemies, though not as successfully as actual prediction or reading. The secondary point expands "damage." Essentially, it bypasses defenses. A human using this is completely immune to cutback effect regardless of state, and this extends to weapon uses too. Hierro is also completely ignored during use of Push. This defense ignoring is only present during physical attacks. Reiatsu-based strikes can still meet Hierro resistance. This lasts for 5 posts, and costs 100 Reiatsu.

[Stage 2: Impact]: This stage can be used only for physical confrontation. When activated, hit strength triples. This means that one can activate it while punching an enemy. If the user has 200 strength, that strength will count as 600 during the instance of the punch. This is very physically draining, and quickly exhausts the body's nutrients. It shortens lifespan to use too often, and it weakens stamina very quickly. This lasts for 1 post, and costs 200 Reiatsu.

[Celes Shindazu]

As Celes sent Hiyori hurtling toward the ground, the Quincy's sliding body kicked up quite a bit of dust and debris. As the sidewalk became visibly shredded, Celes stared at the cloud of dust and ground-up stone. After listening to her newest spectator, Celes spoke quietly, "She likely isn't standing up after that, huh? I mean... she offered almost no resistance." No response from Honegumi. Celes simply clicked her tongue in annoyance and turned her back, preparing to walk away.

Before the Captain had the chance to, however, a voice filled the air. "You wound me with such aggressive actions, Celes," The Shinigami's eyes widened as she turned back to the slowly dissipating cloud of dust, gripping the hilt of her Zanpakutō tightly. There was a soft blue glow from with. "I am thoroughly hurt that you'd try something such as that to attack me. Such aggressive actions... was such necessary?" As the dust fully settled, Hiyori stood there and seemed no worse for wear.

The Captains' eyes focused on the blue-ish glow that seemed to cover the girl. It hummed with energy and Celes could sense the embers of reiatsu leaking from the Quincy. "Blut, huh?" In her dealings with the Vandenreich, the Captain had become somewhat familiar with the fabled technique. A gift by the Quincy Emperor himself. Perhaps this would be an opportunity to get some more experience with the ability. Whatever it did... it made this Quincy girl tough.

Then there was another matter that raised an eyebrow from the Captain. In the ensuing chaos, the girls' kasa had been blown away. The Captain could finally get a look at who she was facing. Needless to say, it was uncanny. Her hair was dark green, cut short, and she had vibrant amber eyes. Aside from that were the numerous piercings that decorated her face. This woman was a Quincy, right? Why did she look so damn familiar?! She just couldn't put her finger on it.

"Well, so much for that," Celes focused back on Hiyori as the latter pointed her katana. "Do try to at least put up a fight, yeah?" The Captain's brow furrowed and she kept a close eye on Hiyori. She'd do her best to track the girls' movements as Hiyori went on the offensive again, without the aid of Hirenkyakyu this time. The Quincy was fast, no doubt about it, but Celes was among the finest that the Shinigami had to offer. Her eyes tracked Hiyori like a hawk as she thought to herself, "I can see you..."

Once Hiyori was beside the Captain once more, taking a low stance, Celes' expression soured. Sure, the girl didn't have her blade anymore, but this was looking to be a similar strategy. In fact, it wasn't unlike a move employed most recently by her own disciple, Kimiko. Showing off her martial prowess, the Quincy went for a rising palm strike towards Celes' midline. Sliding her left foot backward, Celes shifted into a forward-leaning stance and aimed to catch her opponent's punch, simultaneously moving her palm to intercept the brutal blow.

Unfortunately for Celes, this would not work in her favor. As she applied a counterforce to the Captain Supervisors' strike, the Shinigami heard a loud crack. The blow didn't knock her airborne, but something was terribly wrong. The Shinigami's amber eyes stared at her wrist which had been malformed. Her wrist had been contorted, her hand practically bent backward. Large purple bruises covered the extremity and blood dripped to the floor. Naturally, the Captain's eyes widened.

Gathering a burst of reiatsu in her body, Celes expelled it with considerable force. Anything within 3 ft of the Captain, likely including Hiyori if she continued with her follow-up attack, would be met with a devastating shockwave. If nothing else, the shockwave would hopefully be enough to create some breathing room as the Captain simply stayed in place, only using Shunpo Eichi for the shockwave. Besides, it'd likely be a rather violent toss if Hiyori was struck.

Sheathing her Zanpakutō effortlessly, Celes gripped her shattered hand and took a deep breath. Flexing the muscles in her wrist, Celes snapped her wrist back into place with a quick, yet visceral, snap. She still couldn't quite move her hand and so the girl tightened her muscles further and groaned. The gentle sound of bone grinding together could be heard as Celes growled and practically smashed her fractured bones back together.

Despite the crude "surgery", Celes didn't even wince once. Sure, she groaned and growled, but context mattered. It was mainly due to the effort of realigning bone. The Shinigami squeezed her hand and sighed. It wasn't perfect, but it'd have to do. Returning her gaze to Hiyori, the Captain spoke loudly, "Got some good weight to those strikes of yours. Funny, that the Vandenreich should have a copycat. I hope you didn't dye your hair just for a bit." There was venom in the Captain's words as she evened out to maintain a balanced, and surprisingly relaxed, stance.

Hearing the evident snapping of bone with Celes' attempted counterstrike, Hiyori smiled as she continued through, aiming to follow up. At least, that was the goal if she hadn't been sent backward from Celes' Shunpō Eichi. Holding her balance, and sliding backward with the force, Hiyori took a moment to stabilize herself. Her blade had been dug into the ground in order to keep herself balanced - at least, as well as she could - during the forceful expulsion. She'd already gotten a feel for the girl's Strength during the previous attack, so she knew in part what to expect from such a maneuver.

Though, that didn't mean that she'd have the time to follow up. A soft huff escaped her, as she watched Celes slam her hand back into position. Furrowing her brow, she nodded. "Brutal," she spoke, "can't say I've ever considered doing something like that. Hopefully such a feat doesn't bring you too much pain?" In truth, she'd been genuinely curious. There was no way that she'd even consider doing something like that; not because of the pain or anything, but because she frankly didn't need to. Such a wound could be healed thanks to His Majesty.

"A 'copycat'?" She asked, "Celes, you wound me with your words. I'm older than you, after all. If anyone's the copycat here, it's you!" Chuckling to herself, she once again readied her sword, still assuming an offensive stance. With a deep breath, Hiyori spoke. "Surely you don't have something to copy this. Oreta Ha no Fīrudo." As she finished speaking, and with a soft flare of her own reiatsu, the sky slowly began to darken by a couple shades.

Shortly thereafter, a collection of swords began to rain from the sky. Peppering the ground, slamming into the pavement, rooftops, and people with tremendous force, Hiyori found herself deeply interested in how Celes was going to react to such a maneuver. Did she have a defensive option against such a power? Only time could really tell on the matter, but she was deeply curious. Though, now wasn't the time to figure that out; she was going to capitalize on such an opportunity!

Blasting forward through Hirenkyaku, Hiyori did what she did best, and went for a vertical strike against the Shinigami's form, looking to slash through her sword-wielding arm. Debilitation was the name of the game, once again allowing her weapon to be aided through tremendous impact force. Whether or not the strike had successfully landed, she sought to defend herself shortly thereafter. She was making herself predictable, after all.

If Celes had gone in for a counterstrike, Hiyori was prepared to retaliate with one of her own, aiming to display her martial prowess once more by meeting Celes' fist with her own. If she could help it, the goal was to keep breaking the bones in the girl's hands; push her in order to see just how far she could take such a powerful ability. Could she keep resetting them?

Serving as Hiyori’s penultimate ability, Oreta Ha no Fīrudo creates a storm of arrows overhead upon activation, peppering a five-hundred foot diameter around Hiyori with hundreds of arrows each post. These arrows, being physical in nature, utilize Hiyori’s Strength to deal their damage. If Shinken is active alongside this property, the arrows from this property can be made into katana as she desires. Hiyori and her allies will not be struck by these arrows, but her foes are not likely to find themselves so fortunate. Arrows and swords from this property will persist after deactivation, but new waves will not fire. Arrows and swords from this property clash at Class 4 while raining, but while Hiyori is wielding these swords, they are Classed as normal.

[Celes Shindazu]

"Brutal,", the Quincy responded as Celes forcibly set her own hand. The Captain looked up, raising an eyebrow. "can't say I've ever considered doing something like that. Hopefully, such a feat doesn't bring you too much pain?" The Captain just shook her head and sighed, "You get used to it. I hardly feel it anymore." After her bones practically shifted into place, she relaxed and stared Hiyori down, but not before mocking her for a brief moment.

In her stance, Celes began taking a few deep breaths. These were different from a typical martial artist though, something that Hiyori might've been able to pick up on. They were more deliberate. These powerful breaths filled Celes with energy even as the Quincy made a most interesting remark. First one. "A 'copycat'?" "Celes, you wound me with your words. I'm older than you, after all." Then two. "If anyone's the copycat here, it's you!" Celes' eyes narrowed, staring at Hiyori not with daggers, but with a perplexed look.

Just what was the Quincy on about? "Older than her?" It didn't seem like taunting banter, either. It felt... personal. A third deep breath to calm her nerves. Her eyes focused on Hiyori. She didn't really know much about this Quincy, at least not as much as Hiyori seemed to know about her. However, there was something familiar about her. Something past the uncanny similarity in hair color, physical prowess, and white shihakushō. "But where? Where did she know this woman from?"

The Captain's thoughts were interrupted as the Quincy spoke up again, "Surely you don't have something to copy this. Oreta Ha no Fīrudo." There was a brief spiritual flare that arose within the Quincy. What had Hiyori done? Well, the Shinigami would find out as the sky began to darken. Something, in great numbers, whistled through the air and threatened to blot out the sun itself. Not wasting a breath, Celes knelt to the ground, raised her unarmed hand as her voice filled the air.

"Bankai!"

A surge of reiatsu collected with Celes and surged outward. Dust and debris rose from the battered concrete, kicking up a cloud of smoke and ash. The Captains' longsword glowed red and broke down into tendrils of red energy. Suddenly, a red light pierced the smokescreen as a shield, composed of vibrant red energy, formed on the Captain's arm. One by one, the swords dispersed the smoke screen and Hiyori would find Celes standing her ground beneath the hail of swords. "Quincy coward. Are we to fight in the shade, then?!

Each sword that struck against the Captain's shield clattered against it and fell to the floor. However, not everyone else was so lucky. The rain of swords covered a much wider area than Celes could've ever anticipated. Carcing through buildings, piercing cars, and, worse yet, skewering the unlucky populace that had never escaped the chaos of the fight. Her eyes widened at the senseless destruction and collateral caused by their fight. It all reminded her of the initial meeting with the Akki, Orobas, all over again. How powerless she was to stop the Akki from threatening the safety of countless innocents.

She couldn't help but growl at the Quincy who was completely unperturbed by the falling swords. She was just like everyone else! Every cruel and maligned bastard that Celes ever fought. It likely wouldn't take much for anyone to deduce the reason for her rage. Naturally, under her duress and suppressive fire, Hiyori found the perfect time to rush forward and attack. Disappearing from sight and rushing Celes down, the green-haired Quincy appeared before Celes in a flash. Brandishing her sword, Hiyori struck at the Captain's arm with incredible force, easily enough to lob off a limb. However, the Captain was in Bankai. She finally had the defense she needed!

As Hiyori's sword swung in, red energy swiftly formed around Celes' arms and hardened to form a crimson armor that covered both of her arms. The blade that struck her arm would be powerful, but it was nothing beneath her Bankai. The red armor cracked. but saved Celes from losing a limb. Now was her chance! The falling swords seemed less concentrated around Hiyori which gave the Captain some wiggle room. Twisting her arm, Celes' arm grinding against the blade, following its edge briefly as she simultaneously rose to her feet. Within a split second of her doing so, the Shinigami utilized a Shunpo Karin. Shooting her first forward at 12000 speed, Celes aimed to strike Hiyori's chest with all her might, forcing her hand through the Quincy's chest if she could! Would this put the Quincy down? Naybe not. Would it hurt like hell? You better believe it!

{Kōgōshī Sōkō Gassō Overall Ability}Heavenly Sentinel is the pinnacle of Celes’ Astral Soul which bestows upon her several benefits. First and foremost, the durability of Celes’ Astral Soul rises to 3x her OS making it the bulkiest stage out of all of her options. Additionally, Celes generates an additional 5 Strength of Spirit for a total of 15 per post to utilize on techniques or restoration of her Astral Soul. Unlike the other stages where Celes was limited to the ground, Heavenly Sentinel grants the Astral Soul legs as Celes rises into its stomach, making it much more difficult to hit her. This also increases the overall height of the Astral Soul to an imposing 40 ft. Additionally, while Bankai is active, Celes suffers less stamina drain from high-intensity movement. First, Celes' "comfortable" movement speed is set to up to ½ of her maximum Speed. Additionally, instead of suffering progressively higher stamina drain every 100 speed, this is increased to every 200 speed. Heavenly Sentinel also grants the Astral Soul wings, allowing it to take to the skies and fly at a speed equal to Celes’ speed which gives it aerial superiority. The wings produced by Heavenly Sentinel have separate durability of 3x Celes’ OS. If the wings are reduced to 0, Celes’ cannot take flight until she uses 25 Strength of Spirit to restore them. The legs and is considered part of the body’s durability. Additionally, having perfected the Avatar in Bankai, the four-post pain escalation increases to 7 posts.

Unlike most, Celes' Bankai has a notable restriction. Celes’ Shikai focuses her very life energy into an Avatar and Bankai sharpens that focus to push her Avatar to new heights. While her Shikai normally allows her to acclimate to the increasing pain, her Bankai does not offer her the same grace. Bankai has a starting Pain Tolerance of 4 with a max of 4 that needs to be met. Each rank of Ascendant Spirit in Shikai will reduce the starting Pain Tolerance by 1. For example, if Celes activates Bankai without Shikai or upgrading Ascendant Spirit, the Pain Tolerance requirement will be 4. If Celes has Ascendant Spirit Rank I, the starting Pain Tolerance is 3 and caps at 4. At Rank II, the starting Pain Tolerance is 2 and caps at 4. At Rank III, the starting Pain Tolerance is 1 and caps at 3 similar to her Shikai. When used to recover more quickly from Stamina use, Spirit Breathing functions only once every 3 posts.

When this technique is Proficient, the user may trade up to 2 Breath stacks per post to purge stat debuffs. When this technique is Mastered, the user may trade up to 3 Breath stacks per post to purge stat debuffs.

How to use technique: Apply the basic concepts of proper breathing to the user's spiritual body, inspiring into the spirit and expiring into the self.

Technique Description and Effects: The famous "partial Shunpo" technique. This allows the user to initiate a single movement at Shunpo speed with one limb. This cannot be used without initiating the forward momentum. The user will need to move their arm the way they normally would before this technique can be activated. Momentum for this technique cannot be controlled. This means once the user initiates this technique, they cannot stop their limb from the movement.

How to use technique: Stated above.

Drawback: Higher Reiatsu cost than normal Shunpo. Limit is once per post. More taxing on stamina than regular Shunpo.

"Coward? Your words never cease to wound me, Miss Shindazu." Her words left her mouth, as though that name hadn't been true; as though it hadn't been the girl's real name. She smiled regardless, taking note of the Shinigami Captain's Bankai. If nothing else, it was certainly quite the sight to behold. It was times like these that made her wish that she still had her own, even if her Zanpakutō wasn't quite the same as it used to be. She let out a soft sigh.

Watching as her swords 'tink'ed against the Shinigami's suit of armor, Hiyori made a mental note of the fact. She was going to need to prepare herself if the girl had sought to really anything to her. It hadn't taken a rocket scientist to figure out that much. Once again, Hiyori's flesh glowed with blue streaks, indicating the presence of His Majesty's blood flowing through her; that of Blut. Though, this time it had been different.

Blasting forward at the Speed she'd intended originally, and striking with half the force she'd been capable of, Hiyori intentionally held back her bolstered abilities; she wanted to give the impression that her technique had been something else. Though, her blade had caught against the Shinigami's armor, as had expected. She hadn't wanted to apply extra pressure if necessary; especially if it would've given away her technique's guise.

And, much like she'd expected? Celes had prepared for a strike of her own. While she didn't exactly have the Speed to match Celes' movements at the time, expecting a strike was par for the course; she'd been going against another physical specialist, and one that she had been pushing on the defensive the entire time. To think that she wasn't going to go for the counterattack would've been a rather poor opportunity. As such, Hiyori flexed her abdomen, aiming to intercept the woman's blow.

Shifting into the air by a couple of inches, Hiyori notably took the force of the punch, but seemed to have the physical resilience to shrug off the blast. "You like that, Celes?" She asked, pulling her sword back, "it's Blut Vene. You can't damage me through it. Give up; this fight is hopeless for you." Pointing her sword at the Shinigami, she slowly pulled it back, before dashing forward; this time, at twice the Speed she'd been capable of.

Dashing past Celes, Hiyori aimed to slash across her at the same Speed, now utilizing her full Speed in order to slash through the Shinigami's armor as well as she could. Sheathing her blade, as the rain of swords seemed to come to a stop, Hiyori took a deep breath. Moving at such Speeds was going to prove rather taxing; she couldn't keep that up forever.

"Lay down your arms, sister, and walk away. I'd rather not take the life of family."

Without a second thought, Celes allowed her arm to spiral along the length of the Quincy's blade. Barreling Hiyori with such physical strength, and even more daunting speed, created a brief gust of air that practically exploded outward, radiating from the pair. The shockwave violently ripped apart the glass panes of the tall skyscrapers and other buildings around them. As broken glass began to rain from the sky around them, accompanying the hail of blades, Celes' eyes widened as she beheld Hiyori.

Tendrils of blue glowed from with the Quincy once more. The power gifted to every Vandenreich Quincy by the Emperor. The Captain hand had clearly crashed into the Quincy, but there wasn't even a scratch! She could hardly believe it. Honegumi mused softly, "Tch, not bad. Not good enough though, it seems." The Inner Hollow was pleasantly surprised by the durability of this foe. Perhaps she could come out to play a little later, after all...

Almost as if to refocus Celes' attention, Hiyori addressed her. "You like that, Celes?" The Captain stared at Hiyori with a soft scowl. "it's Blut Vene. You can't damage me through it. Give up; this fight is hopeless for you." Celes spoke softly, "Hopeless? If you expect me to submit to you, Quincy, then you've another thing coming! Even Priscilla, a Sternritter of your Empire, couldn't put me down and neither will you!" As the girl made her declaration, she allowed the armor that covered her arms to spread.

The crimson armor swiftly glided along the girls' body. Her chest, legs, and head all became covered by her own qi. Wings sprouted from her back and the girl soon appeared to be encased by a spectral armor that resembled a Tengu. Her mask-like visage stared deeply into Quincy's eyes. The Quincy, however, was steadfast. With a gust of wind of her own, Celes' quarry disappeared from view. However, the Shinigami's visage made her brief flicker of movement perceptible. Instinctively focusing her energy into her right hand, forming a knightly, red longsword as she prepared to turn around and strike her quarry.

This would, however, all be for naught. Even as she twisted around, ready to block with her shield in one hand, the Hiyori was empowered by the Emperors' blood. Her physical prowess now outmatched Celes'. Once more, Celes felt a blade rip across the armor. Scraping along her shoulder, wings and, thanks to the Shinigami's turn, across her shrouded arm, Celes felt the spectral armor crack violently. It wouldn't be broken, but this was no idle hit. In fact, the speed and physical strength made the Captain stumble to the side. Thanks to her martial training, she was able to keep her balance, but it was a brutally powerful blow.

Bracing herself for the continued fall of the Quincy's swords, Celes was surprised to hear not only the sheathing of a blade, but the gradual decline in swords that fell from the very heavens. The Shinigami turned towards Hiyori, holding her sword and shield close to her. She had to be ready for an attack. For any of the Quincy's tactics. Her senses were focused, her instincts honed, her breathing even. She wouldn't fall to some random Quincy wh- "Lay down your arms, sister, and walk away. I'd rather not take the life of family."

Celes suddenly froze. "Sister?!" "Family?!", both her and Honegumi's voices screamed loudly internally. Her eyes stared Hiyori down like a hawk, just as when they originally met at the Wawa. Celes practically quivered with anger, so much so that she could hardly move. "I was taken up by a family in the Rukongai. None of them would ever sell their souls to your Emperor..." She wanted to run her blade through Hiyori's stomach and yet... she just stood there, huffing and puffing.

Sighing at Celes' own exclamations, Hiyori turned her gaze back toward her opponent. "Why would I lie about something like that? To get a cheap victory over a Captain? That's not who I am; not who I've ever been." For the time being, she wasn't going to address the Sternritter comment. Truth be told, she had little idea on who that individual had been; best not to try and come off as though she did.

"Think back, Celes," she spoke, still keeping a hand on her blade, and that same holy reiatsu churning through her arteries, "do you remember a face like mine in the Rukongai? You shouldn't; I was out of there before you joined Seireitei. I was already affiliated with the Gotei by that point." A bit of pain struck across Hiyori's face.

Even just remembering her own past had been a bit painful for her. The fact that she'd been forced to leave Seireitei on not-so-great terms, the fact that she'd been wanted now by the organization she grew to love over such a long time, it wasn't something she wanted to ponder too heavily on. "Let me as this, instead. Do you remember anything of our life in the Human World? Our time in Lamia? Mother?" She wasn't looking to make Celes feel bad or anything, rather trying to rouse her memory as best she could.

As she did, Hiyori took a few steps closer to the woman. Not close enough to pose a clear threat, but enough so she didn't have to shout. "Do you remember me, Celes? During our time in Seireitei? Even if we didn't interact all that much, I... I would hope so." A soft smile rose to Hiyori's face. She very much did hope her sister remembered. If nothing else, that would be clear it was important to her.

Regardless of how Celes answered, Hiyori still remained on her guard. Especially if she was anything like her, this bout of 'emotional turmoil' could've proven to be rather disastrous. She wasn't exactly looking to be overwhelmed by an inner demon, as she had herself during her time as a Shinigami. She wouldn't make mention of it quite yet, but if push came to shove, she'd bring it up.

"Please, Celes; try to wrack your brain. Try your best to remember the past."
