Name: Hiyori Castellanos
Real Age/Age of Appearance: 93/30
Birthday: December 23rd
Blood Type: B-✚ APPEARANCE ✚
Height: 5'9"/175 cm.
Weight: 170 lbs./77.1 kg.
Eye Color: Amber
Hair Color: Green{Art Reference: By @erick_Artxel on Instagram!}
Physical Appearance:
Standing at five-foot nine, and weighing in at one-hundred and seventy pounds, Hiyori is a greek-japanese woman with a rather 'punk' look to her. Her hair is deep green in color, and her eyes shine with an amber hue. Her hair remains cut somewhat short, not going any further than her shoulders, but remains well kept and properly maintained. Even from just her hair alone, it shows rather significantly that Hiyori is someone that distinctly cares about her appearance. On her face, rests a pair of red glasses.
Her eyes remain rather doelike, and a button nose rests neatly atop her face. Her complexion is quite clean, with no scars or blemishes to speak of, and she very much likes to keep it that way. Though to note, her eyes almost always have a sort of judgmental look to them. While this isn't necessarily the case, it can tend to make Hiyori look rather unapproachable, despite being quite the kind person to most folk. Hiyori's figure is rather notably feminine, being rather well-endowed all things considered.
Aside from her eyes, she does have a rather notable amount of piercings on her face. She's got snakebites, a nostril ring on the left, and a vertical piercing across her left eyebrow. With her left ear, she's got three rings on the upper helix, an industrial, and both her lobe and upper lobe pierced. On her left, it's mostly the same, though she doesn't have the rings on the upper helix pierced. Instead, this area remains rather plain.
In a similar vain, the girl has a number of tattoos as well. Her left arm is decorated with a scalelike pattern, mostly green in color with a few red undertones. On the right side of her collar, a stylized Capricorn symbol rests, as though made from a brushstroke. Down the outward side of her right thigh, reads the kanji "起死回生", meaning "Wake from Death and Return to Life".
When it comes to clothes the girl is usually going to be found in, this very often tends to be a modified Vandenreich uniform. Instead of the normal militaristic style of the uniform, this outfit consists of a rather large white kimono, with a cyan obi. Draped over her shoulders, and tied near her collar, rests a large overcoat synonymous with the organization. She'll wear it properly if it ends up too cold to keep it off, and she herself removes it, it's a good indicator that the girl has gotten serious.
Depending on where she's going, Hiyori will wear a different selection of hats. If she knows that Shinigami are going to be met sometime in the near future, she'll generally opt into wearing a kasa to keep her identity somewhat concealed. If there's no worry of that, a traditional Vandenreich cap is to follow. If she's looking to keep it casual, she'll opt into no hat at all.
When it comes to casual attire, Hiyori can often be found in light sweaters, paired with a pair of jean shorts or normal jeans, depending on the weather. If the situation calls for it, it's not often that she'll be found in anything much lighter than that, but it's hard to say for certain. She's prone to changing with the weather where necessary.✚ PERSONALITY ✚
Alignment: Neutral Good
Likes:
✚ Seireitei - Being a member of the Gotei 13 has left quite the impression on the girl. If she could go back, she absolutely would in a heartbeat. Naturally such a fate is impossible, but it's not something that she'd be inherently opposed to, assuming everything lined up for her to go back to the Gotei.
✚ Silbern - As one might expect, given her newfound time in the Vandenreich Hiyori has developed an enjoyment for the world in the shadows. While not natively her home or anything, it's a place that she's since grown comfortable with in due time. She wouldn't mind spending her future here, so long as things tend to stay relatively... tame.
✚ Sparring - Hiyori quite enjoys going a round or two with anyone interested. It doesn’t really matter of what origin her sparring partners are; she’s knows her own strength quite a bit, and is more than willing to hold back where necessary. The enjoyment of the spare is more important to her here.
✚ Honorable Combat - Linking in with the above, if it comes to seriously exchanging blows with someone, Hiyori would like her involvement in such to at the very least be honorable. She’s not the type to utilize dirty tricks, and will resent those that do.
✚ The Human World - Gas station slushies.
✚ Reading - One thing Hiyori enjoys quite a bit is reading. Nonfiction books tend to be some of her favorites, predominantly on events long since passed, but ultimately anything will do for her. She's not incredibly picky.
✚ Her Family - It should come as no surprise that Hiyori is incredibly fond of her sister. If given the opportunity, she'd do quite a bit in order to make sure that her sister is safe. Doesn't matter what hoops need to be jumped through in order to accomplish such a task, it'll be done as quickly as possible.
✚ The Emperor - If not for him, she wouldn't be here today. After having to deal with that whole 'inner hollow' fiasco, it's because of the graciousness of the Emperor that she actually exists to this day. Feeling indebted to him, and the Vandenreich in general, Hiyori does what she can to make sure to never fall out of favor.
✚ Archery - It took the girl quite a bit to actually get used to archery, having wielded a sword through the entirety of her career as a Captain in the Gotei 13, but it's certainly grown on her quite a bit over time. She enjoys spending the time necessary in order to refine her skills.
✚ Meditation - Nothing helps keep the mind clearer than an afternoon of meditation. Such a luxury doesn't always present itself, but when it does, she's more than willing to take it. Even if it doesn't, Hiyori makes sure to find time for a couple hours of silent meditation every week, as to keep her head clear and her mind sharp.
Dislikes:
✚ Conniving Behavior - Hiyori detests scheming and plotting behind the scenes. Manipulation tactics and the like are nothing short of disgusting to the girl. Not coming clean about something like that is grounds for a duel declaration.
✚ Arrogance - If there’s one thing that Hiyori cannot stand, it’s these individuals. Except in extreme circumstances, Hiyori tends to keep her emotions well-tempered. Being unable to do so shows a lack of self-control and self-respect. And, frankly? It’s annoying to deal with.
✚ Dust - Hiyori hates dust with a passion. She likes keeping her personal spaces clean and clear, and won’t hesitate to take care of someone else’s mess if necessary just to deal with it. It drives her up a wall.
✚ Unnecessary Violence - As someone that uses genuine combat as a last resort, Hiyori is very much not fond of the idea of taking a life without reason. She’s generally quite careful with her actions in that regard, especially given that her Reiatsu now breaks down living beings.
✚ Modern Architecture - She can’t quite describe it, but modern architecture tends to bother Hiyori rather notably. It all feels so… lifeless. Fake, in a sense. Something about it just doesn’t sit well with the girl.
✚ Modern Technology - Simply put, all of the new tech tends to confuse the girl. She's fairly able when it comes to utilizing it, but that doesn't mean she has to enjoy it. Easily spending less than an hour on her smartphone a day, Hiyori sees herself being much better off without anything of the sort.
✚ Noise - Hurts her concentration in extreme amounts. Definitely easy to explain why she doesn't exactly like the stuff. Doesn't matter what it is either; music, voices, ambience, it doesn't matter. If things get too loud to the point where she can't hear her own thoughts, then we've got a problem, and likely a duel declaration to follow.
✚ Folks that Turn her Down - As stated rather extensively, Hiyori tends to settle any and all disputes through dueling. Those that turn her down are those that don't care enough to fight for their own ideals. At that point, what are they doing in a militaristic organization? Not to mention, a duel helps keep combat skills sharp. Turning one down seems a terrible idea.
✚ Sadism - The girl does not enjoy inflicting harm on others. Especially if that harm leads to the taking of a life. But, for others to not only be okay with doing so, but revel in that? She doesn't understand it, she doesn't want to, and she frankly thinks that idea is revolting. But, she likely won't say anything about it, instead simply biding her time until she can leave the situation.
✚ Distraction - It doesn't really matter what it is. Linking in with the previous mentioning of noise, any sort of distraction tends to get on the girl's nerves. Taking her attention away from something important will usually result in a duel declaration, but likely 'til yield instead of first blood.
Habits:
✚ Dueling - Hiyori is very much the type to settle any kind of dispute she might have with others in a duel. Formal declaration of challenge, and either first-blood or first to yield is typically how these end, but more serious disputes could very well end in a bit... more. Something potentially lethal could very quickly occur if pushed a bit further.
✚ Stubbornness - Hiyori can be a very stubborn individual. She's not quite stuck in her ways to the point where she's willing to get into an argument with folks, but she very clearly has her own ideals. If someone pushes the envelope with her, she will absolutely stand up for those ideals in the event she needs to.
✚ Walking on the Left - In any kind of hallway, Hiyori will always, without fail, walk on the left side. She's developed this habit from wearing her swords on the left, as is normal. Should someone bump into her swords like this while she walks, a declaration to duel is going to be rather imminent.
✚ Cleaning her Weapons - Given the girl tends to keep a collection of weapons in her personal quarters, Hiyori likes to dedicate time to cleaning these every couple of days or so. Best to keep them clean, even if these aren't the weapons that ever see combat. If nothing else, they're quite excellent display pieces!
✚ Exploration - Hiyori likes to spend quite a bit of her time out and about in the Three Worlds, wandering about as she sees fit. Even though bound to the Vandenreich, she tends to enjoy going on her own little expeditions when she gets the chance, exploring everything that the Three Worlds has to offer.
Flaws:
✚ Fight-Obsessed - For someone that sees violence as a last resort, there's something that Hiyori finds deeply enjoyable about combat. It's why she seeks to settle every problem that someone might have with her through duels, and why she's usually quick to back up her ideals. Deep down, while she may not like to admit it, there's a fighting spirit in the girl just waiting for the reason to explode outward.
✚ Neutral - Despite how passionately and fervently she defends her own ideals, she's not exactly someone you want to go to if you're looking for the settling of a dispute. She's bound to stay out of it, or recommend resolving the situation through combat.
✚ Stoic - Aside from the times where she gets passionate about her beliefs, Hiyori is rather reserved most of the time. More often than not, she tends to keep a sense of duty about her, simply going about her day while waiting for something entertaining to happen. Other than that, she doesn't often open up to anyone, or anything of the like.
✚ Defensive - Hilariously enough, Hiyori tends to get rather defensive about quite a number of things. Namely, her family, and her past. She's not going to let someone badmouth her or her family just because of where they are, or the things that they've been through. Easy way to get a duel declaration right there.
✚ Self-Destructive - Not one that comes out often, but if pushed to the brink, Hiyori can be quite self-destructive. Namely, this shows itself upon her entering Vollständig. Being very goal-driven, she will stop at nothing to pursue her goals, even if it means that she ends up crumbling down soon afterward.
Fears:
✚ Auswählen - Nothing scares Hiyori more than to be stripped of what exists to hold her together. It's why she had originally joined the Vandenreich, abandoning her position in Seireitei to begin with. Even just the thought of something like that happening again would leave her sick to her stomach. It's an unbearable thought.
✚ Losing her Sister - Hiyori can't in her right mind bring herself to inflict any sort of lasting damage to her sister. That should be apparent. But, that's not stopping others from doing the same. It's unlikely that she'd be able to handle the thought of permanently losing her sister, especially after everything they've been through.
✚ Seireitei Ostracization - She knows its inevitable, but being called a traitor and the like for her choices with her 'departure' actively scares Hiyori. It's one reason that the thought of engaging in combat with a Shinigami scares her; the last thing she'd want is to be recognized by someone that isn't her sister.
Goals:
✚ To Reunite with her Sister - More than anything else, Hiyori has a strong desire to reunite with her sister, and share everything with her. She knows that she's bound to the Vandenreich now, but that doesn't mean she can't try to convince her to ally at the very least, or join in the best case scenario.
✚ To See Seireitei Again - While she knows full-well that rejoining the Seireitei is not a possibility - in fact, destroying it is mandated of her - she wants to be able to catch even just one more glimpse of how the place is doing. Especially if given the opportunity to see how her Squad is holding up in her absence. Very little would please her more.
✚ To Meet New Captains - Another large goal of Hiyori's would be to meet the newer Captains within Seireitei since her departure! Surely quite a number of them have since taken position, so she'd like to get to know quite an amount of them. Doesn't need to be on bad terms; in fact, she's fairly amicable in that regard.
✚ To Get to Know the Vandenreich - Given it's her new life now, Hiyori desires to take the time to get to know the others in the Vandenreich. More than anything, she'd like to learn about a lot of different people in the organization. She knows that most don't exactly look toward her in the highest regard, but that doesn't change her aspirations on the matter.
✚ To Attain Sternritter - Surprisingly, Hiyori has quite a desire to attain Sternritter. She wants to show that even those that join the Vandenreich by choice are still worth a damn, and shouldn't be discounted. She knows such an idea isn't exactly going to be easy, but that certainly is not going to stop her on her mission to attain a Schrift.
Overall Personality:
The best word to describe Hiyori most of the time is "stoic". She tends to remain rather expressionless more often than not, and isn't exactly the type to go out of her way to talk to those she doesn't know, unless the situation truly calls for it. More often than not, she tends to stick on her own, and focus on her own interests, well-being, and her family when presented with the opportunity.
When it comes to folks that she enjoys talking to, she may end up a bit more expressive than usual, especially when talking about things that she gets passionate about, but it's still more of the same. The same can generally be said around people that she tends to dislike as well; while she won't be overly emotional toward them or anything, it'll generally be clear that she's not exactly the most comfortable in the situation.
Especially when it comes to the Vandenreich, Hiyori is surprisingly compatible with a number of people; especially those outside of the organization. She isn't exactly someone that aims to kill those that don't swear fealty, despite needing to do so out of necessity at times. Instead, she'd rather just have a cup of coffee with folks in order to talk. That isn't to say she's above the orders given to her by His Majesty; quite the opposite. She recognizes that she owes the Emperor her life, and is still more than willing to carry out these duties because of it. She won't necessarily enjoy it, though.
One thing that never ceases to get Hiyori fired up, however, is combat. While she tends to view lethal force as a last resort, she does enjoy to fight, and will gladly do so if she knows that someone's life won't be put on the line in the process. Things like spars tend to get her going quite fast, and more often than not, these are the occasions that someone will catch her smiling.
On the topic of combat, however, one noteworthy trait the girl possesses is her desire to resolve any sort of dispute she might have with a duel. You shout at her, you get challenged to a duel. Right away. No appeals, no nothing. Hollows; duel to the death for them. You steal from her: challenged to a duel. You talk behind her back: right to dueling, right away. Moving too far ahead: duel. Too far behind: duel. You get too zealous around her, too impassioned; challenged right to a duel. You try to manipulate a friend of hers? Believe it or not, duel. Try to manipulate her, also duel. You make an appointment to meet with her and don't show up? Believe it or not, duel, right away. She's got some of the best subordinates in the Three Worlds because of duels.
As one might expect, there are a number of things that Hiyori has trouble tolerating from others. Starting the list off, she tends to find herself very adversarial toward those that look to cause others unnecessary harm. Such behaviors are disgusting. Second, she's very much against the idea of greed. If she could turn down pay from this work and still live comfortably, she very much would. She hates what money does to people; especially those that have never experienced hardship because of it.
While she is not a fan of senseless violence, Hiyori does have a rather strong sense of duty, all things considered. She's going to carry out any order that she might be given as quickly and efficiently as possible, but that doesn't necessarily mean that she's going to enjoy her time doing so. In fact, quite the opposite if taking a life is involved. And, given she doesn't possess the rank to convert? Extinction campaigns are fairly common for the girl.
When it comes to the topic of romantics, Hiyori tends to avoid involving herself in such things. Especially given her position within the Vandenreich, doing so could potentially end in disaster quicker than she can wrap her head around. Especially if they were to involve someone outside of the Vandenreich. Naturally she's willing to convert people, but at the end of the day, it's just not worth the hassle.✚ COMBAT ✚
Fighting Style:
To put it simply, Hiyori tends to be quite the defensive fighter. Focusing on keeping herself and her allies alive, Hiyori tends to serve as a bastion for what she believes in, and will stop at nothing in order to make sure those she desires are alive by the end of the fight. Relying almost exclusively on her swords, martial prowess, and the blessings in her blood granted by His Majesty, Hiyori Castellanos is quite a force to be reckoned with.
If on the advantage, Hiyori is very much the type to push her luck. She'll likely switch to a more offensive approach, and look to win the fight as quickly and efficiently as possible. Ultimately, the goal for her is to win a fight, and fighting someone until the very last breath is a cornerstone idea to that goal. Recklessness tends to follow in suit from here rather quickly.
If on the disadvantage, Hiyori is likely to double-down on her defensive abilities. Protecting herself quickly becomes the priority before anything else, and she tends to make sure all of her defensive capabilities are active upon preparing to keep up the fight. Reiatsu preservation is the name of the game here. If she needs to, she'll take some time to back up and just recover, situation permitting.
Getting into her Bow Release, Shinken serves as Hiyori's main form of offense and defense. Given it alters her arrows to form swords with, not only does it allow her to wield a weapon she's more comfortable with, but it also gives her a means of keeping herself protected and engaged in combat where necessary. It also serves as the gateway to the rest of her abilities, as almost all of Hiyori's key properties have some form of interaction with Shinken.
Kage no Shōgun is Hiyori's second property, which makes her into a one-woman army. Literally. By spawning shadow samurai around her to fire her arrows for her and help defend locations, she can accomplish one of the hardest tasks about keeping people protected; being in multiple places at the same time. Now, given that these shadows aren't exactly the most durable, this could be problematic, but that's where the next property comes in.
Sensō Umajirushi is Hiyori's next property, and this helps in situations where Hiyori might have allies to worry about. Given this not only helps Hiyori protect her allies by providing a direct font of protection for them, but it also allows her to reposition her friends as necessary, and giving them the option to break free from movement-impairing effects and allowing her to command her shadow samurai to move.
Jisatsu Senshi is next, and serves as a fairly powerful ability for Hiyori to utilize against foes that tend to attack very frequently over the course of a fight. With the added benefit of being able to shrug off wounds that come her way, Jisatsu Senshi gives Hiyori the option to power through incoming blows, making it far easier for her to take an offensive approach to combat where that might be necessary.
Kyōryokuna Yōsai grants the girl quite the suit of armor, granting her a strong amount of protection from anything to come her way, and a cheaper cost attached to Blut. While this has offensive potential in and of itself, this also comes with quite the extraordinary benefit that she may aim to use to use Vollstandig at a higher caliber. Such takes quite a bit to set something like this up, but the benefits can be quite large.
Oreta Ha no Fīrudo aims to cap off Hiyori's Bow Release with a powerful offensive ability. Raining down arrows (or swords!) each post, this makes the area around Hiyori potentially very dangerous for those that don't have defensive abilities of their own. If Hiyori activates this property, it's a good sign that she's not messing around.
Touching on Hiyori's Vollstandig, even just the act of unleashing it is a declaration of war to the highest degree. She's more than willing to kill those she fights at this point, should it come to that. In fact, Yami no Rōnin aims to exemplify that. Boasting the same benefit as her Heart Property, Yami no Rōnin makes Blut more practical to use, amplifying her killing potential by a rather large margin.
Moving to Divine Power, Yozora-ka Kettō allows Hiyori to force an opponent of her choice into single combat, with an insidious little effect attached to it. During that duel, all defensive abilities remain bypassed, allowing both to deal quite a bit of damage to one another, while also preventing either from hiding behind defensive options. A true duel to the death, just as Hiyori would like.
And lastly, we've Divine Soul. Sensō no Yume aims to keep each combatant - even those not involved in Hiyori's duel - at their absolute peak for as long as possible. Fights are at their most fair when all combatants are at the top of their game, so this property seeks to bolster all individuals in a fight to aim for that fairness. In combination with the right allies, and the right techniques, this truly turns Hiyori into a force to be reckoned with.
Bow Release Name: 正道の剣士 - Seidō no Kenshi (lit. 'Swordswoman of Righteousness')
Bow Release Overall Theme:
Seidō no Kenshi is a rather simplistic Bow Release, all things considered. As the name tends to exemplify, it turns Hiyori into quite the swordswoman. Most notably, a swordswoman similar to how she fought before being conscripted into the Vandenreich. Focusing on the use of a katana more than anything, and mixing in the use of a bow as one might expect, Hiyori tends to take up a fight as a sort of samurai, fighting with honor and taking quite a number of blows in order to put down her opponents to the best of her abilities.
Class 6 Form Property: 神剣 - Shinken (lit. 'Divine Sword')
The first of Hiyori's Bow Release properties, Shinken allows Hiyori to transform the arrows she fires into katana. This is an opt-in ability, and need not be activated with each firing of her bow. Upon activation of this property, two of these katana-arrows form immediately on Hiyori's hip at a Class equal to her own, for no cost. Each katana fired after that costs an additional 10 reiatsu per Class of the arrow. When this property is deactivated, all but the two katana on Hiyori's hip will revert to normal arrows.
Class 5 Firing Property: 影の将軍 - Kage no Shōgun (lit. ‘Shogun of Shadow’)
Hiyori’s Firing property gives her the ability to summon forth phantom samurai. When deciding to fire an arrow with this property active, Hiyori can instead throw her hand out in command to summon a phantom for the same cost. These phantoms remain in place, and will proceed to fire the amount of arrows paid for each post, only costing for the first post. These phantoms possess Hiyori’s stats, but dissipate on contact and will make no attempt to save themselves from ranged attacks or move from their location. If Shinken is active, these phantom samurai can opt into either firing katana with their bow, or simply vanguarding the area they can reach with a sword. These shadow samurai must be created within ten feet of Hiyori. She may possess up to thirty of these phantom samurai at any given time. These phantom samurai cannot flex defense, nor can they utilize shockwaves.
Class 4 Power Property: 戦争の馬印 - Sensō Umajirushi (lit. ‘Uma-jirushi of War’)
Upon activation, a spiritual Uma-jirushi forms behind Hiyori, as though affixed to her or her armor. Said Uma-jirushi doesn’t impede her movements in any way, and simply exists quasi-realistically. While formed, Hiyori becomes a powerful commander, granting noteworthy benefits to her allies. Hiyori and those within 100 feet of her are granted a protective barrier with a durability equivalent to her Strength. This barrier protects from incoming attacks and effects, and deducts before any other defensive abilities. By spending the Reiatsu cost of an arrow, Hiyori can restore the durability on this barrier for all allies within the banner’s radius by an amount equal to 10-70% of her Strength, based on the costs paid, granting 1% per point of reiatsu spent. Regardless of the cost, this barrier is treated as Class 4.
By spending 50 Reiatsu, Hiyori can command her allies to reposition themselves within the banner’s radius, so long as they can see and/or hear Hiyori. Said command will add Hiyori's Offensive Stat on top of the ally's clash against movement-impairing abilities, allowing them to move should they succeed in said clash. This can move her Phantom Samurai. RPCs do not need to follow this command, but this impairment-breaking effect will only occur if they take the command, in addition to costing 75 reiatsu instead of the standard amount. Hiyori cannot command herself.
Class 3 Mass Property: 強力な要塞 - Kyōryokuna Yōsai (lit. ‘Mighty Bastion’)
Upon activation, Kyōryokuna Yōsai takes form as a suit of heavy samurai armor, covering Hiyori from head to toe. This armor will protect Hiyori against attacks with an OS equivalent to her Strength or less, but comes with another unique feature. By reducing her Speed by a chosen amount on activation (or after spending 50 Reiatsu to adjust after activating), she can increase the OS required to get through this armor by an equal amount. This effect functions similarly to the Spiritual Pressure/Reiatsu Strength transfer mechanic, though only affects this armor’s defense and does not alter Hiyori’s Strength otherwise, and can only be performed once per post. Activating this property alongside Blut removes the cut to regeneration, and halves the per-post reiatsu cost. The effects of Blut do not apply to Kyōryokuna Yōsai.
Class 2 Heart Property: 自殺戦士 - Jisatsu Senshi (lit. ‘Self-Destructive Warrior’)
Through her Heart property, Hiyori multiplies her defensive capabilities. While active, she becomes exceptionally more able when it comes to taking hits and exchanging blows. Up to a number of times a post equal to her Pain Tolerance, Hiyori is capable of shrugging off the pain from an attack or technique used against her. Up to a number of times a post equal to her Strength of Will, Hiyori can increase her Offensive Stat by 50% to clash against the statistical debuffs, mental debilitations, and the effects from poisons from an attack or technique used against her; abilities that normally do not rely upon a clash of Offensive Stat will force one upon activation of this ability. Up to a number of times a post equal to her Damage Recovery, Hiyori can heal a non-lethal injury from an attack or technique used against her; non-lethal injuries include anything that do not immediately kill her, including internal organs. Eyes, ears, and other external extremities can be healed. This property does not make her damage-immune, rather allows her to power through strikes for a time. She’ll still succumb to damage if it’s great enough. Abilities of Class 1 require Hiyori have an Offensive Stat superiority. Class 0 abilities bypass this property.
Class 1 Soul Property: 折れた刃のフィールド - Oreta Ha no Fīrudo (lit. ‘Field of Broken Blades’)
Serving as Hiyori’s penultimate ability, Oreta Ha no Fīrudo creates a storm of arrows overhead upon activation, peppering a five-hundred foot diameter around Hiyori with hundreds of arrows each post. These arrows, being physical in nature, utilize Hiyori’s Strength to deal their damage. If Shinken is active alongside this property, the arrows from this property can be made into katana as she desires. Hiyori and her allies will not be struck by these arrows, but her foes are not likely to find themselves so fortunate. Arrows and swords from this property will persist after deactivation, but new waves will not fire. Arrows and swords from this property clash at Class 4 while raining, but while Hiyori is wielding these swords, they are Classed as normal.
Vollstandig Name: 陛下の侍 - Heika no Samurai (lit. 'His Majesty's Samurai')
Divine Form: 闇の浪人 - Yami no Rōnin (lit. ‘Lordless Samurai of Darkness’)
Shedding her defensive abilities, Yami no Rōnin turns Hiyori into a force to be reckoned with, sacrificing her ability to shrug off damage to instead amplify her killing potential. Beginning with her Divine Form, this property darkens the color of Hiyori’s modified uniform, allowing it to take on a deep black color, and granting her two swords. The swords produced from her Divine Form are similar to the ones in her bow release, though are equal in class to her Vollstandig and treated as release weaponry. In turn, she loses the ability to fire arrows altogether, relying on her physical capabilities and techniques. While active, the cost of maintaining Blut is halved, and the regeneration reduction is removed. This works to amplify her killing potential while only marginally altering her abilities. Due to the light armoring, and the heightened state that comes from Vollstandig, Hiyori is capable of moving at 600 Speed consistently, with no drop to stamina, much like the standard clause for 300 Speed.
Divine Power: 夜空下決闘 - Yozora-ka Kettō (lit. ‘Duel Under the Night Sky’)
Yozora-ka Kettō allows Hiyori to initiate a duel with a target of her choice within 100 feet. Upon activation of Vollständig, and for 50 Reiatsu each time after the first, she may pick one target for this effect, compelling them to fight her. While dueling an individual, both Hiyori and her target deal 50% less damage to all targets other than each other. While dueling, both Hiyori and her target are able to break through each others’ defensive abilities and techniques with little effort. This includes flex defenses, and other similar innate abilities, but does not include Blutwächter or Verfeinern.
Divine Soul: 神々神剣 - Kamigami Shinken (lit. ‘God Sword’)
To press Hiyori to Vollständig is a feat that not most can accomplish, and serves as a declaration of war from the Quincy. The desire to annihilate those in her sight that look to slight her. What this does is allow her sword to 'cut'. Even if not physically increased in length, the length from Hiyori's slashes will extend outward 60 feet from the tip of her blade, as though she had physically cut those in front of her. This slash will travel completely through constructs that are still cut from this but extend beyond this range, like buildings and the like. Any supernaturally-fortified materials, or even those beyond standard will suffer twice the normal amount of damage they would otherwise. If this is enough to bypass or break this material, anything behind it is slashed in the process. These slashes will still apply on-hit effects, and can still be used in conjunction with techniques.
Other Techniques:{Movement - Mastered}
Technique Name: Movement
Class: 4
Technique Type: Other
Technique Element: None
Description: This is a movement technique. It's to keep up with things like Shunpo or Sonido. While all races using this have their own variant of a step technique already, this one is pretty much an in-general type of move. It attunes the physical body to the reiatsu in the air, rather than spiritual to spiritual. It is now physical to spiritual. This allows the user to step at 3x speed for the cost of only 25 Reiatsu. This technique does not take up a technique slot.
How to Use: Focus the body’s energy and release during a step. This technique can be broken off in the middle of its use. Unlike other step techniques, this one can be repeated while in the middle of the previous one, allowing someone to change their movement course in mid movement.
Drawback: None.{Output - Mastered}
Technique Name: Output
Class: 2
Technique Type: Other
Technique Element: None
Description: This technique is one that makes use of the body directly, using the user’s spiritual strength to increase the body’s capabilities in specific ways. Like Willpower, this technique comes in stages as well, but is limited to two:
[Stage 1: Push]: This power coats the user in a sort of "Output Aura." It does two things. First, awareness can extend out by two more inches. This means someone will become more aware of an incoming attack two inches of distance from the attack earlier than normal. It means that one can try to use this to predict enemies, though not as successfully as actual prediction or reading. The secondary point expands "damage." Essentially, it bypasses defenses. A human using this is completely immune to cutback effect regardless of state, and this extends to weapon uses too. Hierro is also completely ignored during use of Push. This defense ignoring is only present during physical attacks. Reiatsu-based strikes can still meet Hierro resistance. This lasts for 5 posts, and costs 100 Reiatsu.
[Stage 2: Impact]: This stage can be used only for physical confrontation. When activated, hit strength triples. This means that one can activate it while punching an enemy. If the user has 200 strength, that strength will count as 600 during the instance of the punch. This is very physically draining, and quickly exhausts the body's nutrients. It shortens lifespan to use too often, and it weakens stamina very quickly. This lasts for 1 post, and costs 200 Reiatsu.
Drawbacks: See specific stages.{Verfeinern - Mastered}
Technique Name: Verfeinern (Refine)
Class: 7
Technique Type: Quincy Technique
Usable By: All Quincy
Technique Element: Spirit
Description: A simple technique freeing Quincy of reishi poisoning while using their cross in Hueco Mundo. By halving their reishi intake, they can avoid being poisoned.
How to Use: See drawback.
Drawbacks: Use of this technique cuts reishi intake by half to avoid being poisoned by ambient reishi.{Schneller Schatten - Mastered}
Technique Name: Schneller Schatten (Swift Shadows)
Technique Class: 4 - 40 TTP
Technique Type: Vandenreich.
Usable By: Vandenreich Quincy.
Technique Element: Shadow.
Technique Cost: 50 Reiatsu.
Description: Taking the teachings of Schatten and pushing them a step further, Schneller Schatten allows for quicker movements alongside Schatten. Users of this technique are able to make use of both variants of Schatten in the midst of combat, costing them 50 reiatsu in order to do so at faster speeds than normal. Entry and Exit points for Schneller Schatten can be as close to one another as the user would like within these shadows, so long as they are not larger than one foot per point in Reiatsu Strength the user has (A Quincy could opt into lessening the 50ft. distance from Point A to Point B so long as they had at least 50 RS, traversing it exceedingly quickly should they desire).
How to Use: Walk in the shadows of the Three Worlds, but at an accelerated pace.
Drawbacks: Standard reiatsu cost. Counts against Step Tech total. Requires Mastery of Schatten.{Blutwächter - Mastered}
Technique Name: Blutwächter (Blood Guard)
Technique Class: 5 - 20 TTP
Technique Type: Vandenreich.
Usable By: Vandenreich Quincy.
Technique Element: Blood.
Technique Cost: 150 Reiatsu/post.
Description: An extension of Blut Vene, Blutwächter serves as a spiritually defensive option for Quincies that find themselves up against Hollows or Arrancar. By expending 150 reiatsu per post, the user can activate this technique, shielding them from specifically Hollow and Arrancar reiatsu in order to protect themselves from the poisoning and acidic burns that they are capable of inducing. When used alongside the Quincy technique Verfeinern, this technique costs no reiatsu.
How to Use: Pulse reiatsu through the user's veins.
Drawbacks: Blutwächter cannot be used alongside But Vene. If Verfeinern is active alongside Blutwächter, Blut Vene can be used, but only at half-effectiveness. Requires Blut at Learned.{Blut - Mastered}Technique Name: Blut (Blood)
Technique Class: 3 - 80 TTP
Technique Type: Vandenreich.
Usable By: Vandenreich Quincy.
Technique Element: Spirit.
Technique Cost: 300 Reiatsu/post for Vene, 500 Reiatsu/post for Arterie.
Description: Blut, translated as “blood,” is a powerful technique that is passed down through all pure-blooded Quincies of the Vandenreich Empire. This technique is a gift from the Vandenreich Emperor, and only exists as long as he, or someone of similar power who has assumed his role, is alive. Channeling that leader's power through their very veins, Vandenreich Quincy are able to draw upon it and make use of it either defensively or offensively in combat. This technique is not active by default, however, and a cost must be paid to trigger it.
The first half of this technique is Blut Vein, the defensive half of the ability. Acting similar to an Arrancar's Hierro, Blut Vein allows the user to protect themselves on the skin level, preventing any physical damage to the body as long as the user possesses a superior offensive stat. Unlike Hierro, though, this armor will not degrade over time. However, attacks with impact behind them can still send the user flying, though the bodily damage will be negated. Blut Vein costs 300 Reiatsu per post to keep active.
The other half of the technique is Blut Arterie, which focuses on offensive ability. While this ability is active, the Emperor's power flows through the user's body and soul, doubling either physical or spiritual stats. This takes up one of the user's long-term stat boost slots, and costs 500 Reiatsu per post to keep active. Note that only one of these two techniques can be active at a time; if one is activated, the other is deactivated.
How to Use: Spend Reiatsu to draw out the latent power in the user's blood.
Drawbacks: The first major drawback to Blut Vein is that it can be bypassed in one of three ways. First, if the opponent's offensive stat is higher by even a single point, then Blut Vein is ignored. Second, if the opponent is of a superior Class, then Blut Vein is bypassed. Finally, “final forms” of Release, such as Bankai, can ignore Blut Vein.
Blut Arterie has its own drawbacks as well. When active, Blut Vein is removed, removing the user's defenses. Aside from taking up a stat boost slot, the user is constantly funneling excess energy through their body, which is a tiring effect over time. Finally, while active, the user draws in half as much Reiatsu per post as normal, as they are focused on output more than they are on drawing it in.{Schatten (Cinematic) - Mastered}
Technique Name: Schatten (Shadow)
Technique Class: 4 - 20 TTP
Technique Type: Vandenreich - Cinematic.
Usable By: Vandenreich Quincy.
Technique Element: Shadow.
Technique Cost: 0 Reiatsu.
Description: Schatten, or Shadow (whichever you prefer) is a Vandenreich technique that allows the user to walk in the shadows of the three worlds for transportation. Similarly to Garganta and the Senkaimon, Schatten serves as a mobility option to allow the Quincy or Quincies in question to move between any world except for Hell, or sections of those worlds with ease, so long as the user has been to said world. At Learned, this allows the user to walk into shadows in order to move about, reappearing through another shadow somewhere else. At Mastered however, this technique allows the user to create portals of shadow for transportation instead, shaped as the Vandenreich emblem, allowing them to make their own shadows instead of relying on those in the world around them.
How to Use: Walk in the shade of the Three Worlds.
Drawbacks: While Schatten costs no reiatsu in order to create, it cannot be used with zero reiatsu. Stepping through shadows, or creating portals of shadow, take far too much time in order to be able to do in Combat.✚ HISTORY ✚
Birthplace: Lamia, Greece
Current Residence: Silbern
Memorable Figures:
Akuna Castellanos - Hiyori's mother. Deceased.
Celes Shindazu - Hiyori's sister. Alive.
History:{CHAPTER Ⅰ}
Born 93 years ago in Lamia, Greece, Hiyori Castellanos was brought into the world at a rather simplistic time for the family. Unfortunately, her father was nowhere to be found during the time, having departed a long while ago. Instead, Hiyori and Akuna simply lived together for a period of time, as Hiyori grew in age. Enrolling in school as soon as she could, Hiyori began immediately on focusing toward her work in this front, working in order to try to make things a little easier on the two of them in due time.
In time, she eventually finished primary and secondary school, and immediately began to work as soon as she had the opportunity to, in order to bring in an additional income for the household. Thankfully, her work paid off (literally), and the two began to live a little more comfortably. In time, Akuna's husband eventually found himself entering the picture once more by the time that Hiyori hit the age of 14, much to her resentment. Harboring rather notable amounts of negativity toward the man, Hiyori did little to try to get along with him after his return.
And, much to Hiyori's lack of surprise, Akuna ended up pregnant again, with the man similarly disappearing later on. She felt hurt, angry, and frustrated, but didn't feel that there was much to do about the situation. Instead, the two simply continued about their normal lives, waiting for Akuna's child to come to term as normal. Eventually, Celes Castellanos was brought into the world. And, from the very moment that she was, Hiyori found herself ecstatic, regardless of the circumstances of her being brought into the world. She was glad to have a sister.{CHAPTER Ⅱ}
As time continued on, and both girls matured, they grew ever closer with each day. So much so that even after having graduated herself, Hiyori took the time every day after Celes finished her classes to walk home with her. It was a pattern that both tended to enjoy quite a bit, as it continued on for quite a number of years. A few months after Hiyori's 24th birthday, both of them came home to see their mother collapsed on the floor.
Rushing her to the hospital as quickly as the two could've, both found themselves waiting rather impatiently once arriving, fearing the absolute worst had happened to their mother. In time, they eventually got word back on what had happened to their mother, learning that she'd fallen quite ill in a short period of time. Knowing the worst was surely becoming a reality, the two focused their attention toward making sure the remainder of her life remained comfortable. Anything that she wanted for was given to the best of their abilities.
In due time, their mother eventually passed, bringing about quite an amount of devastation from the two girls. In time, the two would recover, but the loss of their mother left quite a lasting amount of damage on on Hiyori's psyche. She found herself sinking into a depressive episode for quite a while, even starting to distance herself from her sister for a time. Though, she realized very quickly that she couldn't live like that; Celes wasn't exactly in the position to life on her own, and she needed to step up to help make sure that her sister survived where appropriate.{CHAPTER Ⅲ}
In time, everything eventually returned to a modicum of normalcy. The two had moved on, but hadn't forgotten their mother, leaving Hiyori as a sort of "parental figure" for Celes. Heading to work each day to provide for Celes, She did what she could in order to make sure that she'd be all right in the long run. Regardless of that fact, she was going to do what she could in order to make sure that every day that passed was just a bit easier for Celes.
About six years eventually came to pass, and the two had continued about their lives, living as best they could. Until eventually, disaster found itself striking the two girls. On her way to bring back food for Celes, Hiyori found herself caught up in a bit of mob violence, and quickly tried to leave the scene before she ended up getting hurt. Unfortunately for her, she wasn't so lucky. Just before she made it home, Hiyori ended up gunned down, losing her life on that fateful day.
In time, she reawakened as a Plus, bound to the world for a short moment before she found herself subject to Konsō from a Shinigami cleaning up the situation at hand. Unfortunately, she never had the opportunity to say goodbye to her sister. If things were different, she would've taken the opportunity to do so. Instead, she once again reawakened in the Rukongai with all her memories, and was left to live a new life.{CHAPTER Ⅳ}
Much like a large portion of Hiyori's life thus far, her time in the Rukongai didn't last very long. Talking with a few Shinigami on patrol, Hiyori quickly found herself headed back to the Seireitei with them, in an interest toward joining their ranks. In time, she was eventually enrolled in Shin'ō Academy, where she began to learn what she could about being a Shinigami. The next few years went quite well for her, passing most courses with flying colors, and eventually finding herself graduating.
In time, she took seat as an officer in the Third Division, and began to do what she could to focus on her Squad duties. Expeditions into the Human World, covering paperwork where necessary, and more. Within a year, she'd taken Third Seat, and was well on her way to Vice Captaincy. It was around this time, however, that she was made intimately aware of a Shinigami going through the Academy with serious aptitude, and an uncanny resemblance to herself. Deciding to observe from a distance, Hiyori quickly realized that Shinigami in question was her sister, having tapped into her innate abilities and making her way into the ranks of the Gotei 13 as well.
By the time that Celes had graduated from the Academy, Hiyori had taken Vice Captain of the Third Division, and watched her sister get into the Eleventh Division. She found herself rather proud of her sister, but didn't want to say much; especially if she hadn't remembered her past life, which seemed quite common of plus souls, she wasn't looking to make things any more awkward than they already could've been. Instead, she simply introduced herself as an acquaintance, and realized very quickly that Celes had been going by a new surname. In truth, she hadn't felt hurt or anything, but rather relieved at the situation and the lack of necessity for an explanation.{CHAPTER Ⅴ}
Fast-forward a number of years, and eventually Hiyori took captaincy. Though, this was not without struggle. Namely, through a rather invasive intruder within her soul; an inner hollow, looking to gnaw at the fiber of her being and take over her body for their own use. With each passing day - especially after having tapped into her Bankai - this inner hollow's influence grew ever stronger, forcing Hiyori to withdraw from not only Celes, but everyone else as well. She needed to find a way to deal with it, but struggled immensely to do so.
Eventually after having been dispatched on a patrol, Hiyori had a run-in with a Captain Supervisor within the Vandenreich; someone that seemed surprisingly nice, for what she'd heard about the organization as a whole. After a noteworthy fight between the two of them, and continuing to wrestle for control over her own inner hollow, Hiyori was eventually given an offer by the Quincy; to be put in front of His Majesty, for the opportunity to rid her of that beast within her soul for good. Fighting their words, and eventually growing angry enough to let her hollow run free, Hiyori eventually caused a rather rampant amount of destruction within the Human World; enough to very clearly pin the blame on a Vasto Lorde-level threat.
Seemingly effortlessly, she was suppressed by the Captain Supervisor in this state, taking quite the beating, and resulting in not only a severely tattered haori, but a shattered Zanpakutō. It was from there, that Hiyori was dragged into Silbern, a prisoner of war, and forcefully put in front of the Emperor. It was there, after being presumed dead by Seireitei, that she was given the choice once more; to be struck down then and there, reduced to spirit particles and to be eradicated from the Soul Cycle, or to take the chance to be saved from this inner demon. Taking up the bargain, Hiyori was struck through the heart with an arrow.{CHAPTER Ⅵ}
Within a few short months, Hiyori was able to regain a semblance of spiritual control over herself. Having been assimilated within His Majesty's forces, Hiyori eventually learned how to utilize a bow to the best of her ability, before tapping into the latent abilities bestowed upon her by the Emperor himself. In time, her powers made manifest, and she gained the ability to weaponize her bow in ways she'd never imagined. Rising through the ranks just as quickly as she had in the Seireitei through natural talent, Hiyori quickly took the rank of Captain, and began to make a name for herself as the Shinigami Turncoat of the Vandenreich.
