-Basic Information-
Name: Yozora Eiko
Age of Death: 2 months
Real Age/Age of Appearance: [200/21]
Birthday (Month/Day): [2/2]
Blood Type: A
RP Sample (Optional):
Eiko sat quietly in the shade, underneath the cherry blossom tree. School was out and this part of the courtyard was pretty well and away from the rest, leaving Eiko to stay quiet. His zanpaktou over his shoulder, he sat there under the tree with his eyes closed, exhausted and seemingly ready to pass out as he slowly started to doze off.
When Eiko opened his eyes he was surrounded by trees underneath a night sky. The trees were warped and twisted, menacing even, and red veins streaked through the green leaves. Bones hung from the trees and the ground was stained red, streams of blood flowing all around. Was he transported here? If so, how did he not notice? More importantly, where was here? Was this his inner world that he was taught about in class?
Eiko wandered around for a while before stumbling upon a hill of corpses leaking more blood, looking up the hill he saw a menacing figure looking down on him. It had four eyes and four arms, with a single fist on his chin as he looked down at Eiko, with a look that made the shinigami hopeful feel pathetic
"Hey now, a little workout like that's enough to make you fall asleep?" A menacing voice muttered out, in a curt and disappointed tone. It was a voice Eiko recognized, it was a voice that always seemed to laugh and mock him every time he fell down or failed in any way. "And who the hell might you be?" Eiko replied, an unpleasant tone creeping in his voice.
"Why would I give my name to a weakling like you?" the malevolent figure replied, his head cocking off to the side, off of his fist, his look of disinterest unchanging. "It's bad enough I'm stuck here inside you. The least you could do is be useful." the being finished before swaying back and jumping forth off his throne of death landing in front of Eiko, who immediately stepped back, only to fall down with a yelp.
"Tch," the being spat out, before slamming his foot down into Eiko's stomach, causing Eiko to attempt to scream, but the intensity was so bad that it felt like the foot had gone through Eiko's abdomen and out his back. "Pathetic. If its going to be like this I should just be the one in charge," the spirit continued before looking away, letting his thoughts wander. "Though I can't quite find a way to do that right now, so how about you just get lost," the spirit finished his thoughts before swinging his foot into Eiko's head.
The next thing Eiko knew he had awoken back underneath the sakura tree, his body in a cold sweat and his head and gut throbbing as he grit his teeth and held his head, sitting there seething with frustration. "F-fuck," he muttered as he wallowed there in his own misery, unaware of the fact that the grass around him had wilted dead, and the sakura tree was much less brilliant in its color.

-Appearance-
Height/Weight: 5'6 110 lbs
Physical Description: Small, and meek in physical stature, the only thing remotely imposing about Eiko are his blue eyes, which seem to stab into anyone who he looks at, and even then, it mostly just appears to be a front that attempts to protect a weakling by avoiding conflict all together. Overall, many have noted that Eiko's overall appearance is more feminine than masculine due to his thin frame and short height. Underneath this uniform are multiple scars and bruises from the bullying he's experienced as well as the abuse he received from his family.
Eiko sports messy black hair in addition to his blue eyes and can generally be seen in a standard Shinigami uniform and rarely does anything fancy beyond that, though it is common for him to wear white skin tight clothing underneath his uniform due to his general disdain for the cold.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-Personality-
Dislikes:
-Haraguroi: Due to their extremely strained relationship, Eiko greatly dislikes his zanpakutou spirit and the two don't generally get along.
-Noise: Needless noise gives him a headache. Though due to his zanpakutou's constant berating and pestering, Eiko never really has a means of escaping the noise, making him extremely volatile and reactive when it seems like he shouldn't be.
-Alcohol: Giving him alcohol is one of the quickest ways to make him dislike you, and you will never catch him around alcohol voluntarily.
-Crowds: To much noise, to many people. Eiko prefers when fewer people around.
-Cold: While he's not a fan of hot weather, the cold is much less preferred.
-Family: Eiko loathes and actively avoids the abusive family. Terrible that everyone likes them.
Likes:
-Dogs: Dogs have a tendency to bring out a side of Eiko that people just simply can't, and he becomes much more open and pleasant towards dogs, though he will still act wary and aloof around people, he'll generally be more talkative with dogs around.
-Quiet: Eiko is a generally peaceful person who likes the peace and quiet. To better explain, its more like he enjoys drowning out the noise, especially his zanpakutou's voice.
-Loud music: When all else fails, Eiko can always find a place away from others, crank up the volume, and forcefully drown out anything he doesn't want to listen to.
-Women: An aspect of Eiko's personality he is generally trying to hide, Eiko indeed enjoys the women, though he's never gotten to partake due to his evasive nature, resulting in him occasionally staring at certain...assets of women he finds attractive.
-Cooking: Since he spent so much time in the rukongai, Eiko had to find ways to make rats, stale bread, and other less than scrumptious ingredients taste good. Getting to use actual ingredients for cooking now is just so much better.
Flaws:
-Low confidence: Eiko has relatively low confidence in his abilities. No matter how hard he works or how much time he puts in, or however good the results end up being, there's always that voice in his head to remind him how useless it all is.
-Inferiority complex: Eiko constantly feels like less than his peers, even those he may have authority over he feels are above him, making it difficult for him to lead or take charge of situations, because of his feelings of inferiority.
-Communication skills: Eiko does not have a...subtle touch when it comes to people, resulting in him either not talking about things or just bluntly and abrasively getting to the point when a certain level of tact is appropriate and necessary.
-Aimless: Eiko really doesn't have any direction he wants to go in at the moment. Ultimately, he's just trying to get away from his family and live as far away from them as possible. Being a shinigami is just a means to achieve that goal. What kind of fighter he wants to be, how he wants to apply the skills he has, how much he wants to improve himself. He has no real reasons to worry about these things beyond just getting away from his family, thus his life lacks the direction it desperately needs to propel him to meet the potential hiding within him.
Habits:
-Evasion: Eiko has a strong habit of evading confrontation or conflict. It's only led to him getting bullied so why add more to it.
-Insults: Whenever its not possible to evade a confrontation, Eiko tends to be insulting and belitting, even to allies, and even when its not required or even when there was nothing to retort to, which makes him a generally unlikable person as a whole.
-Scowling: Since Eiko constantly has Haraguroi's voice in his head mocking him, no matter what the situation may be, it's very normal for Eiko to developing a displeased scowl on his face.
Fears:
-Rejection: It might be becoming a recurring theme and a bit redundant, but Eiko has a huge problem with any sense of rejection or being deemed a sort of failure.
-Family: At a psychological level, Eiko fears his family, and actively wants nothing to do with them.
-Going hungry: Being starved so many times in his life, Eiko has an instinctual fear of starvation, and he's always up to eat till he's stuffed and tends to stockpile more food than is necessary or than he can eat.
Goals:
-Peace: Eiko's ultimate goal is to finally be able to be recognized as a living being and live in peace. A sort of happily ever after sort of ending. Maybe even Haraguroi will shut the hell up.
-Acceptance: Being accepted for who he truly is, being able to comfortably be who he truly is, would be the greatest thing to ever happen to Eiko.
-escaping his family: Being able to graduate the shinigami academy and escape his family would be the most tangible goal Eiko has right now.
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Overall Personality: Quiet, distant, and aloof in nature and evasive of people, Eiko's personality has been shaped by those around him. Bullied and beaten as a youth, to being bullied and outcast in shinigami academy, Eiko responded by evading people, avoiding the disdain altogether. It was just better that way. He puts up a tough guy strong act on the outside, seemingly unaffected by the disdain, though it deeply bothers him, hence his evasion of people altogether, with a single harsh statement being enough to drive Eiko away.
This isn't helped by Eiko's zanpakutou spirit regularly tormenting him and attempting to break him on the regular, resulting in few times where Eiko can take to enjoy the quiet. In some ways, Eiko's indifferent, aloof, personality is genuine, he's generally not interested in people so long as they aren't speaking about him or talking about him behind his back. Eiko tends to suppress and reject a lot of his negative emotions and desires due to his secret desire to be accepted by others. As a result, very few people know or are even aware of Eiko's true nature as a person, both the good and the bad, and his outward personality comes off as blunt and flat, not so much piercing into people but like their being beaten with the heavy club of animosity and meanness that he's been beaten with so many times over. Ultimately, Eiko's outward personality could be described as mean, sensitive, and introverted. Just 3 words. Eiko also tends to be rather...reactionary and emotionally erratic? Since he's emotionally sensitive to begin with and his inner spirit is constantly tormenting him, he tends to lash out at random times when the pressure inside his head gets to a boiling point, which it can easily do at this stage in his life without any clear warning. If he misinterprets good will as taunting or demeaning, his zanpaktou will capitalize on it and make things significantly worse inside his head, without anyone the wiser.
Despite his blunt approach to talking, or perhaps because of it, Eiko is generally very good at explaining things. So long as Eiko understands the concept himself, Eiko can relay that concept back to others in a clear and concise way, making him begrudgingly somewhat popular among some of his underclassmen, since he can explain things in such a clear and concise manner, though the other half of his underclassmen outright hate him for his rude tone and demeanor. Tutoring and assisting instructors in some of the first year courses helps keep his lack luster grades from plummeting though so Eiko doesn't have much of a choice but to do it.
Eiko also tends to be less than well organized. Eiko's definition of organized is if he knows where something is, it's organized. Doesn't matter if that thing is on the floor. He knows it's on the floor, so Eiko is organized. It's normal to see his room with clothes strewn everywhere, with random textbooks from various course just lying around...somewhere. He does know where they are though, so he's organized.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-Powers-
Fighting Style: Eiko's fighting style is currently very rigid and undefined, strictly following the rule book of what's supposed to be done, and has yet to be developed into something that is actually coherent or unique to him. He has some awareness and competence in using Bakudo, however he's not so proficient at it he can use it effectively. His small body still hasn't fully recovered from all the abuse he's received, and his ability to use zanjutsu, hoho, and hakuda are all lagging behind his peers as a result. His only real unique quirk is that Eiko is left handed.
Whenever Eiko is in an actual pinch, his first instinct is to run away. He has an evasive personality to begin with so it makes sense to avoid the excess conflict. In times where that's not possible, Eiko becomes a lot more desperate and frantic, his eyes grow wild in desperation in an effort to survive, and his moves become extremely uncoordinated. His mental state is also insufficent to actually strategize or use Bakudo.
All in all, Eiko's current fighting style is that of a novice who has never seen real combat. His weaknesses also tend to pile up, hiding any latent talent he may possess due to his weakened, abused, and recovering body. The voice in his head calling him weak all the time only makes matters worse, and can cause random outbursts of uncoordinated, erratic attacks out of nowhere.
Zanpakutou Spirit Appearance(Optional):[/b] Haraguroi takes the form of a spikey haired, four eyed, four armed monk covered in tattoos, with a menacing smile when he's excited, and a flat, disinterested expression when he is bored. It's hair is blood red and his eyes are warped in nature, not looking like an eye that comes from a human or even a beast. They can only be described as demonic eyes.
Zanpakutou personality: Haraguroi is a being of pure malice within Eiko, driven by its own ego, whims, and desires. It represents all the darker desires within Eiko and aspects of his personality and people in general, with a personality to match. Haraguroi laments being Eiko’s zanpakuto and actively hates its master, seeing Eiko as weak, and taking pleasure in tormenting Eiko and keeping Eiko in a mentally tormented state whenever possible. It is regularly known to mock and berate his master, laughing at him while he is down and in a position of weakness and actively. It is even normal for Haraguroi to reject Eiko’s call just because it ‘feels like it’, forcing Eiko to find other ways to deal with situations. Haraguroi’s goal is to swap places with Eiko and possess it’s master, taking over his body and going on a rampage, doing what it sees fit, which is violence, domination, and debauchery.
Inner World(Optional): Eiko's inner world starts as a deep forest, a sea of trees in every direction under a night sky that never turns to day, with nothing more than a crescent moon to illuminate the dark world. In the center of the world lies a towering piles of corpses within a small, clean, pond, atop of which Haraguroi sits, using the pile as a throne. Should Eiko be in a distressed mental state, which is fairly normal, blood seeps from the pile, replacing the water with a lake of blood underneath the pile, that leaks and streams out to the rest of the forest, soaking the ground red for the trees to drink. The trees react to this by becoming warped and twisted in form, bending in places they shouldn't and new trunks sprouting from random spots on the trees trunk itself. The veins within the leaves of the tree become red, and contrast the green hue of the foliage with the red of the blood the trees have drank. The forest also sprouts flowers every so often, should the forest be drinking the blood, these flowers bloom and glow red. If Eiko is in a state of peaceful comfort for long enough, these flowers bloom and glow silver, becoming an array of stars to illuminate the forest from within. Haraguroi regularly likes to take corpses from his pile and hang them from the trees as a sort of decoration of the place. The flowers will be pollinated and become fruit. The fruit from the red flowers tastes of blood and meat, and are obviously red, but come in the shapes of skulls and bones. The fruit of the silver was sweet, and a delicacy to anyone who liked sweet things.
Zanpakutou Appearances:
-Assauchi: Eiko's zanpaktou is shorter than the standard zanpaktou katana. He was assigned a wakizashi assauchi due to his much weaker physique upon entering the academy. Compared to the 24 inch standard length. Eiko's assauchi is 20 inches(50 cm) in length. It has a black wrap around the handle and a simple black sheathe with a plain black chord hanging from the sheathe.
-Shikai:Haraguroi's shikai takes the form of a 30 inch Sujihiki knife, with a blackened blade and a rough abrasive pattern on the blade ridge. The handle appears to be wooden in structure with a light brown color.
Bankai:
Akunaki Haraguroi's form is that of thick demonic, clawed gauntlets on each arm, as well as Grieves on each leg that bear talon like claws on each toe. The armor has a more leathery look to it and pitch black in color. Each bladed claw shines silver. From anywhere on the gloves or legs a small, fanged mouth can form of about 2 inches. This is Haraguroi's being in a physical form, able to communicate with the outside world. In this form, this mouth craves meat constantly, and if not fed meat, the mouth will form on the inside of the gloves and grieves and start biting and tearing and devouring Eiko's limbs.
Zanapkutou Release Names(Include both Shikai and Bankai names, and call out phrases)
['Musabori Kuimasu(devour), Haraguroi' (black bellied)]
['Yūshoku ga dekimashita (dinner is served), Akunaki Haraguroi' (Insatiable Black Bellied)]
Overall Ability:
"What's my power you ask? Well you see, I'm quite a whimsical eccentric sort and I just love the taste of meat. So my power's revolve around cooking and devouring said meat. That meal being you. We could always roast you? Roasted hollow sounds like it might taste good. We good boil you too, I bet boiled shinigami would have an interesting flavor to it. There's always deep frying you. Anything, even human meat will taste good if you fry it in oil. Lastly I guess we could steam you? Steam cooked quincy buns sound divine. Hahahahaaaa, tell me, what do you think is the best way to bring out your flavor before I devour you?"
~overall ability spoken about by Haraguroi.
The overall powers of Haraguroi are malevolent in nature, designed to cook and devour a target. Cooking is done in shikai, while devouring done in bankai. The malevolence can come from the name of the zanpaktou itself, Haraguroi. While it translates to 'black bellied' this is a term meant to describe the schemer and the truly evil, combining the cooking and eating aspect with nothing but malicious intent and desire to harm and devour the target, just like how Haraguroi will eat away at your soul with its cruel nature it will eat away at you literally with its ability. But not before making sure you taste good first.
Shikai Overall Ability:
Haraguroi's shikai ability is to take cooking techniques and styles and turn them into attacks. Whether it be boiling them, or burning them until their charred, or steaming them, Haraguroi's got you covered. It's abilities are vast and utilize fire, water, oil, steam, or just raw heat in general. The single consistent component behind them is that they all use heat in some form.
These powers usually refer to the cooking techniques of Japan. These include cooking over an open fire, steaming, boiling, and frying food, with an ability centered around each of these, each of which has its own properties and applications.
Bankai Overall Ability:
The overall power of Akunaki Haraguroi is to maximize the output of Haraguroi's 'cooking prowess' and strengthen both Eiko and his corresponding shikai attacks. Eiko's offensive stat while using his bankai can be boosted at a cost of 5 reiatsu for every 1 point in the offensive stat. The minimum boost available is 10 points, which costs 50 reiatsu. This boost caps out at 3x whatever his offensive stat currently is. This will take up a long-term stat boost slot.
In return for this power, Akunaki Haraguroi must consume. The mouth that sprouts from the gauntlets and grieves of the bankai must consume some form of meat every 2 posts, If it does not, Akunaki Haraguroi will bite down on Eiko's limbs, leaving massive gashes and holes instead, and will continue to bite down and rip into the flesh of Eiko's limbs leaving a new gashing mark every post. This will continue until he offers some sort of meat instead, when he does so, the counter resets back to two posts. A successfully landed attack qualifies as 'satiating it's hunger' and resets the post counter, and the armor will absorb the blood and flesh into it to consume it. The damage is constant, and while the boost remains constant as well until dissipated, Eiko will receive a new gash every post until the 2 post counter is reset. Which limb is injured is random and based on a dice role of 1-4 with each number indicating the following.
1: Akunaki Haraguroi will bite down on the Left arm.
2: Akunaki Haraguroi will bite down on the Right arm.
3: Akunaki Haraguroi will bite down on the left leg.
4: Akunaki Haraguroi will bite down on the right leg.
5 gashes on a single limb result in the limb losing most functionality, with strength using that arm dropping to 80% the original strength, and dropping 20% more for every additional gash. So 60% for 6 gashes on the same limb, 40% for 7, 20% for 8, and complete loss of function at 9. Damage becomes permanent at 10 gashes to the same limb, with the limb becoming unusable without a source of healing or use of the universal healing center.
Akunaki Haraguroi still has access to all of Haraguroi's shikai abilities, but thanks to the mass influx of power, they've all been strengthened considerably. Heat is naturally emanating from the bankai, and while it is not enough to cause harm, it is enough to cause someone without any resistance to heat to break out into a sweat.
Zanpakuto Techniques:
shikai
-Jikabiyaki (too cook over an open flame): [Reiatsu cost: 150] Haraguroi's blade is envoloped in a blue and violet colored flame, which can be use in conjunction with swinging the blade. The flame trails behind itself when its in motion, requiring careful use as for Eiko to not get burned himself. The trailing flame wisps have a length of 2 feet. The technique lasts 3 posts before needing to be reactivated or maintained with a fresh 150 reiatsu cost. The flame itself can cause what it touches to ignite and burn in the same blue and violet covered flames, which can be put out in any way normal flames are put out.
If used while in Bankai, Jikabiyaki lasts for 5 posts before needing to be reactivated.
-Mushimono shokuji (Steam cooked meal): [Reiatsu cost: 200] Eiko slams Haraguroi in something, be it the ground, the opponent, whatever, and Haraguroi releases a burst of burning hot steam in that direction on contact, burning anything it comes in contact with. The move is primarily used to penetrate through an opponents defenses but can also be used to make immediate escapes by creating a hot plum of steam to obscure an opponents vision. The steam can create either a cone shape or a circular shape, reaching a general height of 7 feet and roughly 500 square feet of space. Burns can be resisted if one has a level 3 resistance to heat. This technique can be removed with strong wind based attacks. The steam can remain for up to 3 posts, weakening by 20% in the second post and 50% in the 3rd from its original power, before fully dissipating. It can be blown away by strong wind.
If used while in Bankai, Mushimono Shokuji's space can reach 800 square feet of space and a height of 10 feet.
-Nimono shokuji (Boiled meal): [Reiatsu Cost: 200] Water in the atmosphere surrounding Haraguroi's blade condenses around the blade before rapidly reaching a boiling point, generating an erratic, difficult to control whip of water roughly 30 feet in length that can be used to attack and burn a target. It can also be condensed and shortened to create a thicker space of boiling water, or split into multiple smaller whips whose length is the initial 30 foot length by the number its divided into. So 2 whips is 15 feet a piece, 3 is 10 feet a piece, etc. This attack can last up to 3 posts before needing a fresh 200 cost of reiatsu to maintain for another 3 posts.
If used while in Bankai, the intial length of a single whip becomes 60 feet.
-Agemono shokuji (Fried meal): [Reiatsu cost: 250] Haraguroi's blade leaks with a yellowish see-through liquid, an oil that when the blade is swung is flung outwards and spattered over a target and the ground. Those covered in the oil are not injured. The oil however, generates and builds heat in relation to the Reiatsu of what it has landed on, increasing in heat and dealing damage based on the targets Reiatsu strength rather than Eiko's. The duration of the oil is five posts.
If used while in bankai, the oil will last for 8 posts.
-Yakimono Shokuji (Grilled/Broiled meal): [Reiatsu cost: 250] This attack generates insane amounts of heat from the blade as it radiates outward. This heat gradually increases in power over up to 5 posts, and can be released in a single wave of heat. It's power is dependent on how long the heat is held in the blade. If held for 1 post, the power is only 50% of Eiko's Offensive stat. If held for 2 posts, it is 75% of Eiko's Offensive stat. For 3 posts, 100% of Eiko's offensive stat. 4 posts 125% and at 5 posts hits 150% of Eiko's offensive stat. Eiko can not use any other abilities until the heat is released, the heat will dissipate if not released on the fifth post. This heat is released as a slashing blade ranged attack that can reach up to 50 feet in distance, searing through anything in its path. Eiko can be burned by the heat released from this technique.
If used while in Bankai, a blade is released for every finger/toe blade, for a total of 5 released heat attacks. Each holds the same amount of power but acts as an individual attack and do not stack with each other. The blades are roughly 1 inch apart in distance.
Bankai
-Ōkui no kyōen (Feast of the Glutton): [Reiatsu cost: 150] Multiple mouths form on Akunaki Haraguroi's arms before stretching out into tendrils, with the mouths at the forefront of each tendril, looking to bite down onto any sort of meat they possibly can. Any successful bite these mouths make will reset the two post counter for Akunaki Haraguroi's hunger satiation. The total amount of mouths generated is 10 per arm, for a total of 20, with each tendril being able to reach up to 200 feet from Eiko. Eiko can move while the attack is in effect but can not use other attacks while this is active. The tendrils will attack for up to 3 posts before needing to be repaid to maintain the attack for another 3 posts.
Other Techniques
Technique Name: [Bakudo #9: Horin (Disintegrating Circle)]
Class: [7]
Technique Type: Kido
Technique Element: [None]
Technique Description and Effects:
The second Bakudo of this number, Horin causes an orange tendril of condensed spiritual energy to spiral out of the caster's fingertips and attempt to enclose around and bind an enemy. These tendrils, once having bound a target, can merge to connect the targets.
How to use technique:
The caster needs to point at the victim, not unlike casting any regular Hado.
Incantation and Effect:
If used, the incantation allows a 10% increase in reiatsu strength. (I.E. A reiatsu strength valued at 100 would instead be worth 110.) ("Disintegrate, you black dog of Rondanini!! Look upon yourself with horror and tear out your own throat!")
Birthplace: A rural villages in Edo period Japan
Current Residence: Shinigami Academy
Memorable Figures:
-unnamed father
-unnamed mother
-unnamed older sister
-random shinigami who recruited him into the academy
-A cornucopia of bullies
History:
PART 1: THE HUMAN
Eiko doesn't remember the name he was given as a living human or anything before he became a soul. It's quite possible he was born without one. For you see, Eiko died shortly after he was born, with a weak constitution in a poor family, he was abandoned, in favor of healthier children, only for him however, there was no hero to save him, and he died of starvation on a cold winter night. Fortunately for him, a passing shinigami was nearby, and his soul passed on into the soul society without issue.PART 2: THE OUTCAST SOUL
After entering into a family in the soul society's third district, Hokutan, and the small infant finally received a name, Mahiru Eiko, a name he would come to lament, due to the feminine nature of his given name, Eiko. For a while, Eiko would grow up fairly normal, he played, he got made fun of for his name, and he listened to his parents. What any normal kid would do. He also ate...a lot. A sign of higher spiritual power. This wasn't the end of the world, as Eiko was one of only two children, with an older sister. What was becoming a problem was his occasional outburst towards others. As bullying got more severe towards Eiko for his smaller frame and feminine name, Eiko lashed out more and more frequently, his cries of defense falling on deaf ears, which only perpetuated the cycle, making Eiko lash out even harder. A never ending cycle that eventually caused Eiko to lash out at his parents, striking his parents. His father especially, struck back, and he was beaten by those who were supposed to be on his side.
The beatings only continued to get worse, as did the bullying, and Eiko's parents eventually stopped feeding him to supplement their punishments for his 'bad behavior'. This resulted in Eiko becoming a thief to get food, for which eventually, he was caught, and again, the beatings and the starvation got even worse. Eiko was rapidly kept away from family matters, and actively avoided them as well. His sister got all the praise and would end up working as an aide to eventually take over the Mahiru families baking shop. During these years, Eiko would kill rats in the back where he would spend most of his time, and cooked them up and ate them whenever he felt he had a chance to get away with it. Eventually though, again, he was caught, and his repulsed family again, beat him over it.
Eiko would then turn to avoiding the house as much as possible, only doing his chores to avoid the beatings that would ensue if he didn't do them as early as possible, and then avoided home after the fact, only returning home after it seemed everyone had gone to sleep. His family didn't seem to care, as it meant they didn't have to deal with their 'problem child'. Eiko spent most of his time in the surrounding woodlands, away from everyone he possibly could. If he was home, he was beaten, if he wasn't home, he was bullied. No people was the only place he could safely stay. Eiko generally spent his time searching for fruits, or anything simple he could get his hands on to eat, he wasn't getting much at home anyways.
One day, Eiko was passing through one evening to notice that the shinigami were recruiting in their district. It happened every now and again, but Eiko was rarely around so never really noticed. Out of pure curiosity, Eiko headed over to them that evening, now that most everyone had left, and the shinigami were getting ready to head home. Eiko approached them and asked them a simple question. "If I join you can I leave this place?" The shinigami looked at each other a little perplexed by the question, this was a relatively safe part of the rukongai, near the seireitei. Ultimately though, they did reply with a yes. That yes was all Eiko needed to hear and he requested to join immediately. They informed him however though, that they would need his parents approval due to his age. A prospect Eiko loathed.
It took a few days, as Eiko quietly dreaded the idea of confronting his abusive family again, but after yet one more fight with his father Eiko finally brought it, bluntly stating, "Otou-san, Okaa-san, I'm going to join the shinigami." His parents were taken aback by this assertion, but it did get Eiko out of their house, and would look good for the family, so they approved of it, so long as he sent them money from his shinigami work to them. Eiko approved had one last bit of retort however, and when he submitted into the shinigami academy, he put his name down as Yozora Eiko, a complete rejection of the family that he was supposedly a part of. Not like they would care, as long as the coins kept coming after he joined.
Part 3: Beginning in the Academy
Eiko's academy beginning's were rough. Since he didn't eat as much as he should he was a severely malnurished soul, and his physical aptitude was terrible. He studied hard, however due to his already meek frame being as underdeveloped as it was, he struggled mightily in Zanjutsu, Hoho, and Hakuda. Eiko did alright in Kido, and it was his only saving grace, though he wasn't particularly good at it. Due to his physical weakness he was still bullied regularly, but he was more used to it by this point and once he found spots to avoid his bullies consistently, he just kept to those spots when he wasn't in class. As the meals kept coming his body started to get a little healthier and his abilities in the physical aspects of combat became slightly more presentable, though it wasn't particularly good.
In year 2, Eiko would be introduced to his zanpaktou spirit for the first time, an arrogant, ruthless 4 armed, 4 eyed man with spiked hair, sitting atop a throne of corpses that did nothing but belittle Eiko, just as bad, if not worse than his bullies did. 'I thought spirits were supposed to be on your side, be a part of you? Why was mine trying to make my life miserable' Eiko thought. And now that his thoughts were filled with this loathing, the rest of the year Eiko's results started to fluctuate randomly. One week he'd do well, the next terrible, and the next few days he'd do well, only for the following month to be lackluster. Worst of all, Eiko now had no escape from the bullies, as now one was living inside of him.
Currently, Eiko is in year 3 of his academy training.
