Trouble on Koburi Pass

[Kazura Uzaki]

Kazura was glad that this William O Creed was spiritually aware enough to know matters of the Worlds. Straight up calling out the world of the Hollows was enough for Kazura to know that William had enough knowledge to get by and wouldn't need any hand holding. This man knew what he was doing when he was fighting the Hollow, Kazura had just happened to attract its attention and then finish it off in its weakened state. True, it didn't hurt that he had turned his skin into metal and crushed it against a tree, but William had hurt it and forced into a desperate situation. "I would assume the brothers are hiding somewhere close by looking for meals as well. I've seen enough movies to know not to split up, so let's walk together?"

Kazura started to turn when he realized he hadn't introduced himself. He froze for a moment, wondering how to go about this. He was a pretty famous guy and William hadn't immediately recognized him, or if he did he didn't say anything to demonstrate that. If he revealed his name, William could have a lot of different reactions knowing that the CEO of one of the biggest companies in Japan was a strong Fullbringer. Tired from the walk, the lack of sleep, and the constant daymares, Kazura wasn't on the top of his game. Normally he'd have a plan much faster than the time it was taking him to figure it all out. He ended up just deciding to reveal himself and move on from there.

"Kazura, Kazura Uzaki."

Whatever William's reaction, Kazura probably was ill prepared for it in his current mental state. If William didn't know who he was by name, that might hurt Kazura's pride and feelings. If William was a super fan, Kazura may not have the mental capacity to keep up with a barrage of questions or gushing. If William was for any reason antagonized by Uzaki Enterprises and its CEO, or for some reason now considered Kazura his enemy then the fullbringer would have to now track down two hollows alone with or without having fought this new acquaintance. However it turned out, Kazura probably wasn't going to be able to handle it appropriately so he didn't put a lot of effort into trying to be perfect like he usually did. Instead, he just started walking towards the summit of the trail to see if there was anything that could be seen from the top.

Great so even though this last one had been a pain in the back, literally. There were likely two other Hollows nearby that were likely just as hungry. From the sounds of it though the brothers were more powerful than the last one. Not something that William was glad to hear although knowing that this last one was now taken care of kept his mood from dropping completely. He could tell his back had been pierced a bit as his shirt was wet, clinging to him with blood.

He couldn’t leave this to someone he didn’t know though. There were potentially others on the trail that these Hollow could devour. Even worse they could get bored if no one else was on the trial and move on to a more urban area. No this was something he had to continue through until the end. “Two on two are definitely better odds.” William walked beside the man who’d displayed an ability that quite frankly was far beyond what William could muster. All he could do about it though was curse himself for slacking on his training which was of no help to this situation.

The officer knew who was the more powerful between them yet this guy looked almost malnourished. He seemed the sort that was struggling through depression or some sort of emotional stockade. Either way it wasn’t for William to pry. He was just about done giving the man a survey when he realized who it was before him. A rich fish that William wouldn’t have expected to be on the front lines. A bit of a surprise, but nothing insane. He knew in America there were a few individual that could fit into that same category.

A few moments later he introduced himself. “Nice to meet you.”

Continuing at a decent pace would take a few minutes before either of them picked up on the next issue. Kazura would be the first having the ability to sense reiatsu whereas William had grown rusty. Another Hollow was nearby yet seemed almost on them. The ground would begin to tremble beneath them for a moment as it raised up at a high angle. Slanting downwards while lifting the both of them up in an attempt to send them off the side of the trail over the mountain side. A quick little attempt that was uncommon for the mind of a Hollow.

William acted as swiftly as he possibly could jumping backwards and landing further away on the trail. A few feet back from the raised slanted earth now while his back throbbed. He may have gotten sloppy, but based on what he’d seen he was certain Kazura would be able to employ air ground if he needed to in order to handle the situation. Thankfully he didn't impact the ground on his back hard enough to knock the air from his lungs so getting up wouldn't be difficult.

The second brother would make himself known afterwards the white mask becoming visible as a boulder on the side of the trail turned around like some sort of head. “Haha fools. You beat a shadow so what! You can’t hope to defeat the very earth beneath you.” In the moment that followed a few stones from around the trail rolled towards Kazura and William set to slam into them over the side of the mountain. "An elemental manipulating Hollow. Better than the air I guess."

William pleasantly surprised Kazura by simply being cordial and chill with the introduction. That set the tone for the rest of the afternoon, or however long it would take to track down the two brothers of the vanquished Hollow. That was a relief, Kazura's tense shoulders relaxing when he hadn't even noticed he had been so wound up. "Likewise." They headed towards the summit together when suddenly the presence of a Hollow could be felt underneath them and the ground itself started to shift to try to throw them off the cliff. William's instincts were spot on, as Kazura just stabilized himself with Air Ground and jumped back onto a non-raised area of trail.

Kazura was pretty weighty in his current form, which still had awhile to go before he could revert, so he knew that he needed to be more careful. If he were to fall over the cliff, he could do some serious damage to the ground when he hit it, not to mention to himself. Even a steel body would be hurt by falling from this distance. In response to the stones rolling down the hill at Kazura and William, the former put himself in their path, punching with his steel arms to try to just force the rocks aside. If he was able to at least puncture the rock with his metal fist, he'd try to Soul Dominance the rock into splitting in half and avoiding William as well. If the rocks were not natural and were actually the Hollow's body, this could backfire, but Kazura was willing to put himself in harm's way for his new acquaintance.

William didn’t take more than a moment to get back onto his feet although he knew he was definitely doing laundry tonight, now that his clothing for the most part was covered in dirt. Not one of his favorite activities, thankfully though he had the perfect outlet to vent his frustration. He was determined now to take out these ill feelings out of the Hollow that caused them. He Could see the boulders rolling down the path towards them, but his mind kept pace with Kazura. He noticed the movement of the man, surmising his actions slightly ahead of current events and choosing to take his own actions into mind.

Thus while Kazura handled the boulders rather easily not just punching into them or causing them to split apart. William rushed towards the sound of the Hollow. He knew where it was coming from and could now see the white mask. The strange thing though was this Hollow didn’t seem to really have a body which didn’t make any logical sense. The only thing William could conceive as a theory while running was perhaps it possessed the ability to fuse with the ground. Either way if he managed to break the mask the Hollow should die. The distance little less than ten feet now as William rolls forward picking up a stone on the ground and then throws it as his roll finishes with him kneeling down now on his left leg.

His attention directly on the mask of the Hollow. What he saw though was something that both proved to be an issue while also giving him a bit of useful information. The mask of the Hollow moved! Fast enough that the stone had no chance of hitting it, but proving that it was indeed the weak point on this Hollow. The mask moved at a fast pace putting further distance between them as it retreated backwards into the treeline. After a few moments though it made it more than apparent that they weren’t finished. A large tree with a thin body began to tip over towards William at just the right angle that it would collide with William and Kazura.

William did what he could, leaping to the side from his kneeling position. Managing to get out of major harm although the sensation of a few branches slamming down on his back wasn’t pleasant. Thankfully they weren’t large enough to cause any real damage, just a bit of pain for the Fullbringer. “You killed my brother. Now it’s your turn to visit the grave!” screamed the Hollow from past the tree line. A moment afterwards stones would become visible, appearing from the trees up and falling down towards William and Kazura. The stones were decent size, heavy and of course in the shape of tombstones.

William demonstrated some decent acrobatic ability with his roll that picked up a rock and threw it before landing in a kneeling position. The Hollow dodged said thrown stone and then proceeded to throw a tree and then tombstones at the pair of Fullbringers. Kazura had already found out that the Hollow's powers didn't appear to prevent him from manipulating the souls of the objects that were sent down the mountainside at them, so he took this as an opportunity to stretch his abilities to their maximum. He knew that his Reiatsu Strength was pitiful in comparison to some other Fullbringers he'd met, so he activated Gate to double his spiritual outputs. This was going to be exhausting because his current use of Gravitational Pressure (the Elemental Switch that turned his skin to steel) could not be deactivated and also doubled his energy reserve taxation like Gate did. But he needed to protect everyone farther down the trail so it was worth it... He hoped.

With his Reiatsu Strength boosted to 300, he had a little more power to work with. As the tree fell towards him, he pushed the branches out of the way with Soul Dominance as he tried to slowly side step it (as the Elemental Switch also halved his speed) as best he could. Any that hit him would just hit Steel with a durability of 2000, so it wasn't like he was going to get hurt from the tree but he didn't want to get pinned underneath it. And as the tombstones approached, Kazura again activated Soul Dominance and tried to stop them and let them stick into the ground headstone up. This was highly taxing on his energy reserves and physical/spiritual stamina, but he was determined to stop every last one of them before they got even close to William and himself. He would use Soul Dominance to grab two stones at a time since that was about the extent of the size limits of the technique, but still it was going to be exhausting.

[William O, Creed]

The sensation of the trees branches falling down in him was such that William knew later tonight he’d hate himself while in the shower. He could tell that he suffered at least a few small cuts across his body that were likely to sting at some point. Getting out from under the branches that were on top of him wasn’t anything super difficult although by the time he managed to get back on his feet and assets the situation it was too late for him to aid Kazura against the actions that this Hollow had made against them.

Kazura definitely wasn’t letting up on what was going on though, William could feral the air around the man intensify. Displaying that he had fine control over his reiatsu, Kazura managed to control the projectiles headed towards him enough that the majority of the threat was handled right away. As for the tombstones that actually managed to clip him or even get close . . well they didn’t accomplish anything. Kazura was safe as his body was currently so durable that everything broke off of him like a snowball hitting a wall. “Well that’s definitely got its uses.”

As for the Hollow that had definitely proven itself to be superior to the younger brother, well nothing. It was still hiding back behind the tree line now more than likely trying to think of some way to handle Kazura. Everything that it had done so far hadn’t been able to even push Kazura from an outsider's view. William just wished he had some sort of firearm with him at the moment. The distance was too much for him to close nor did he possess any sort of offensive might to eliminate this Hollow in a single shot. “Damn that man just always has to be right.”

It would take a few moments, but after the tombstones had finished falling the ground around Kazura and William loosened. It’d take a moment or so, but the trail path that consisted of dirt, stone and plants suddenly turned into sand. Sinking downwards it was clear right away that this Hollow was now taking a note from its younger brother. If it couldn’t bring Kazura down with physical might it’d bury him alive! William for what it’s worth knew that he was pretty useless against this Hollow and thus kept out of Kazura’s way while grabbing hold of the tree knowing that so long as it remained he wouldn’t sink completely.

The Hollow again demonstrated a new power by turning the ground beneath them into sand. William was fine as he could grab onto the tree, but Kazura was extremely weighty and sank quickly. Instinctively summoning Soul Command, he hardened the sand so he could get a good grip on it, then jumped straight up with Bringer Light. Landing on the air ground just above the sand, he held a hand over to William to pull him up to solid ground. "I'm going to get you an opening. If you can finish it, we'll move on to the last brother."

Running across the air ground towards the trees, Kazura was going to draw out the Hollow and get an opening for William to finish it off, hopefully. As soon as Kazura saw any glimpse of the mask of the Hollow, he would have his hand raised and a small jolt of Electricity would leap from his hand and hit the Hollow to stun it. He'd rush in, albeit slower than normal since his metal body hadn't worn off yet, and then try and hurl the Hollow's mask (if not more of it) out of the tree line so William could finish it off. Could Kazura have beaten it himself? Maybe, but he was feeling worn out from over exertion from so much Soul Dominance at four times the normal cost...

[William O, Creed]

This Hollow was definitely more powerful than the shadow one that Kazura had been able to eliminate fairly easily. That one had relied on trickery and stealth in order to slowly drain its target. This Hollow though seemed to blend in with the environment and manipulate it in order to overwhelm anyone that goes against them. William knew based on everything that had been done so far that this Hollow would have been able to take him out if he was alone. His training would definitely need to be started once again as his skills, power and experience it seems no longer were up to snuff.

Keeping himself from sinking through the ground thanks the tree that this Hollow had provided to him. William wasted no time accepting Kazura’s help pulling himself up while Kazura aided him. “Alright I’ll do what I can to finish it.” William knew he couldn’t command the environment nor call upon his Fullbring in order to actually take this Hollow out from a distance. He didn’t have access to anything that he’d come to utilize while he had been in America dealing with the spiritual community along with his family. He was a tiger with no fangs nor claws. That left only his fury to kill this Hollow!

Grabbing one of the smaller branches and breaking it off William fashioned himself a basic although incredibly ineffective weapon. He got ready and watched as Kazura ran along the air towards the tree line. The ground shifted slightly which told William that the Hollow definitely could see what Kazura was doing and thus he’d really need to act fast and follow up on whatever Kazura managed to do. He was more than ready to sprint along the corpse of the tree in order to get out from the quicksand and eliminate this threat.

As for the Hollow well it seemed that keeping the two Fullbringer at a distance and bombing them with various methods wasn’t working all that well. Sure the one looked like he was barely hanging on, but the other one had repeatedly shown that he was able to meet everything that was thrown at him no issue. Now the mask that was clinging to a small rock by a tree now raised up along with the ground. The earth itself seemed to stand up from itself as the Hollow began to form itself a body powerful enough to kill this human!

The strongest thought constantly running through the head of the Hollow was just how tasty this Hunan was going to be. Would his hunger finally stop once the body of this nuisance was assimilated into his own being? The Hollow had no clue, but was determined to find out. Little did he know though that this Fullbringer was able to cast out lightning similar to a Shinigami. Managing to strike the Hollow near his mask taking him by surprise as panic infected his mind.

As the Hollow was surprised by Kazura's Electrocution, he might be more surprised as the Fullbringer suddenly doubled his speed compared to what the Hollow had seen him able to move the entirety of their encounter. His body no longer steel, Kazura rushed faster than ever to get up to the Hollow and grab it by the mask. Seeing William with a branch in his hand coming closer, Kazura used his athletic physical strength to chuck the Hollow into the air. Hoping that separating it from the ground would weaken it, Kazura then used the more advanced Electrocution version at the expense of numbing his hand to form a steady stream of electricity on the Hollow for the next seven seconds. Hopefully that would keep it busy with pain and numbness for William to get in and get the finishing blow in.

In the back of Kazura's mind, though, he could still hear the whispers. As he grew more tired and used more of his energy, he could feel the daymare apparition grow stronger behind his subconscious bleeding into his vision. It was almost like there was a copy of himself, but made of shadow, with glowing yellow eyes. Kazura, why do you fight... Nothing you do matters... I am coming for you and all you hold dear..." Kazura blinked a few times and the vision disappeared as quickly as it arrived. In its place was a third Hollow rising from the ground. The third brother had arrived before the second one could be finished off, but hopefully William could get there while Kazura was rushing in to meet this third one head on.

This third hollow appeared to be a large Spider with Octopus tentacles for legs. It raised its pincered mouth towards the incoming Fullbringer and let out a stream of flames from its maw. What the heck was this thing? A fire breathing octopus spider? Kazura stepped out of the way with Bringer Light and got on the left side of the spider. He gave it a few good punches to the leg and it looked hurt, but it had seven more legs to support it so it didn't fall or anything. With one of its tentacle legs it reached out and grabbed at his leg, the suction cups latching on and holding tight to him. Kazura could use an assist, or could blast this thing to oblivion, but needed one or the other quickly if he was going to not get blown up himself by the Hollow's fire breath in the next few seconds. Hopefully William had the second brother out of the way...

William really felt outclassed with everything that he was witnessing Kazura employ against this Hollow. The technique that Kazura used was one that William knew of even if he didn’t personally know the technique nor have the power to employ it. Still the fact that Kazura was employing it just furthered William’s knowledge of the billionaire. Rushing in on the Hollow as best he could, Wiliam witnessed Kazura sending the Hollow into the air while electrocuting him in order to keep his movements to a minimum. Everything was going fine which allowed William to leap at the Hollow slamming into it while the stick in his hand was plunged into the eye socket furthest away from Kazura.

The two Fullbringers would appear to be almost hugging the larger Hollow now as they both were nearly in contact with one another. William used every bit of strength he possessed in his hand to shoe the stick deeper into the skull of this Hollow pushing it through the eye. A mixture of liquid noise and actual liquid burst forth from the eye of the Hollow drenching William’s arm yet securing victory over the earth bender that was the second brother on this damned trail.

Neither one of the men would gain any sort of time to converse with one another about a game plan or even catch their breath though as the final brother made his appearance just a bit too late to save his younger sibling. This last Hollow was much more monstrous than the previous two, something that William was more akin to seeing while in the States. Definitely a form that he wasn’t prepared to face off against without his Fullbring. “Damn why did the old man have to be right again.” Thought William as he leaped out of the way from the fire exhaled by the Hollow.

He wasn’t completely successful though as his right leg was caught in the flames burning his pant leg, socks, boot while causing a rather dark second degree burn from his knee down. Landing on the ground William rolled forward onto his legs although couldn’t help himself from wincing in pain as he realized his injury. He’d be able to keep going yet this wasn’t something that wouldn’t limit him. At his current level of ability, the best he'd be able to do is utilize his upper body while limping heavily and dealing with constant pain.

William caught sight that Kazura had been grabbed by one of the suction cupped legs of this Hollow and was about to receive the most rank breath kiss either of them had likely ever seen. Acting with minimal time and very little options William picked up a baseball sized stone on the ground and threw it, managing to strike the Hollow on the side of its mask right near its right eye. William wasn’t certain if it would manage anything, but was quick to try and find another stone in order to help Kazura.

Kazura scowled at the Hollow as William got caught up in the blaze it spewed from its mouth. Annoyed, Kazura surveyed the landscape. The second brother was taken care of by the stick through its eye as it slowly started to squirm and lose essence. The rock thrown from William also had distracted the third brother long enough for Kazura to give it a solid punch to the tentacle and break its hold on him. Working his way around it he made his way quickly to the second brother before the entirety of its body could become nothing but freed souls on the wind. Placing his hand on the monster's face, Kazura tore away its mask and kicked at the empty space behind it for good measure. The mask separated from the body would surely finish it. Gripping the mask tightly, Kazura summoned reiatsu with Energy Generate and poured it into the bone to stabilize it with his own energy to keep it from dissipating. "Now... This ends, Third Brother."

Kazura stomped his foot and started a ritual to Seal the stabilized Mask into his skin as a tattoo. With his impressive instincts, it was over before the Third Brother could even react from William's second rock to the face. Distracted by the cop, Kazura was now ready to finish this mess and get home. "William, I'm going to need help home after this..." Kazura was going to use his Last Resort technique to end this. He'd theoretically Mastered it, but he had never really had need of it before now. Would he probably have been able to defeat the Hollow with William's help without Inner Power? Probably, but there was no time like the present for showing off, kicking butt, and ignoring its name.

It started with a thin layer of glowing, crackling blue energy. Suddenly all of the birds, bunnies, and other creatures of the trail scattered as a wave of Intimidation flowed out of Kazura's body like a fountain. The energy, while starting just a half inch around his body, started to build. Kazura was lifted into the air as he formed a suit of reiatsu armor around his body that was thirty feet tall. Appearing like a medieval knight, Kazura lashed out at the third brother with all of his considerable might. Normally not very physically or spiritually strong, instead his skills lying in his reiatsu reserves, this technique poured everything together into one mighty blow that shook the trail more so than the Second Brother had done. The earth beneath them shook as Kazura squashed the Third Brother flat with an armored boot. There was nothing left to salvage from the shattered remains of the spider octopus.

As Kazura let go of the technique, the threat over, his consciousness started to fade until he had passed out on the trail close to William.

William was thankful that he was good at throwing objects, right now it was the only thing that he could do against this Hollow. Kazura thankfully was still in fighting condition yet seemed to be focusing on the second brother that William was certain was already dead. He glanced over and saw his ally rip the mask off the Hollow. He was surprised not just by the action, but by the fact that the mask didn’t seem to disappear in Kazura’s grasp. “So he knows how to preserve them.” William thought to himself having read that such a feat was accomplishable to those that had a high degree in the manipulation of reiatsu. William didn’t have enough time to watch Kazura anymore than that though as he turned back to throwing a larger stone at the eye of the Hollow.

Thus he missed the sight of the mask being sealed into Kazura for whatever reason. It wasn’t until Kazura spoke that William turned his gaze back to Kazura and nodded his head in acknowledgement. Although he wasn’t sure how great it was going to be getting Kazura back when his own leg was burned from the knee down. Shaking his head to push the thought away William stayed stern in this battle knowing that eliminating this Hollow was more important than whatever pain he might suffer from it. What he saw next was just further proof that the rich man was a real Fullbringer with power that likely rivaled the most powerful in the world. William knew of the technique that Kazura was employing just like most from his research yet to see it was a first.

The officer could only grin as he watched Kazura form his reiatsu into a massive armored knight that literally squashed the bug. If only something was so simple though. William was forced onto the ground from the impact as it shacked the ground similar to an earthquake. It was all over in a moment which was good except now William knew exactly what he’d have to do. Limping over to where Kazura now lay on the ground unconscious. “Damn not how a first date should ever end.” William squatted down and picked Kazura up, placing him on his shoulders. It wasn't comfortable for either of them, but William didn’t have to listen to Kazura, while putting up with it himself.

Thus he started the long, painful limp fest back down the trail that remained after the long subsequent battles against the Hollow brothers. He’d take him a while no doubt all the while doing everything he could not to drop Kazura. Thankfully he succeeded in that, but by the time he reached the bottom of the trial he couldn’t feel his left leg. His strength was enough that although his arms were tired he could keep going. His leg though the burned skin was severely damaged now leaving a trail of its own in his blood. Taking out his phone William called a cab in order to get the both of them over to the Uzaki tower, where he assumed Kazura would know what to do.

Kazura awoke in the nurse's office at UE. She looked at him sternly as she was finishing up bandaging William's burns. "Mr. Uzaki, this one brought you in unconscious... Are you alright?" The Fullbringer blinked a few times, then sat up in bed feeling quite refreshed after the "nap". "Quite alright, Toma Sui." She didn't look convinced. "I suppose I shouldn't ask why you were unconscious? What you were out doing this time?" Kazura just smiled. "Hiking accident." It wasn't a lie this time. "With fire?" She pointed to William's burned leg. "Yup." She sighed and continued to work on the second degree burns.

She was a kind soul and had all sorts of crazy injuries come through here and she kept them on the down low. Kazura made a mental note to bump up her year end bonus this year for the extra work she put in. When she was finished bandaging William, she excused herself and left the two of them alone. "Thank you." Kazura didn't have a lot to say, but his thanks was sincere. "You know, I could use more people like you on my team. We pay well, train well, and have many resources at our disposal. You should consider it." There wasn't a lot more than a life threatening situation to form a connection and a bond. Hopefully William felt the same way. Kazura owed him more than just thanks for his help today.

Sitting down on a table William did his best to deal with the pain emanating off his left leg from the burn wounds of the last Hollow. This definitely hadn’t gone the way that he had wanted when the morning had started. Either way though this was a victory despite all the trouble and wounds he’d collected. While he was in a good deal of pain throughout the majority of his body William had gained knowledge. Important knowledge about a powerful Fullbringer and his group here in Japan that he’d previously been unaware of,

His feet throbbed and shoulders gave him the stiff pain all from carrying Kazura while injured himself. Still it had been done and now William was receiving treatment by the same woman that had seen to Kazura. It took another few moments as the woman wrapped his left leg in bandages for Kazura to rise from his reiatsu deprived slumber. “Prevented a forest fire we did.” William joked a bit with Kazura to the woman while not speaking out completely about the truth.

William was ready to test out his leg now that it was bandaged when Kazura started to speak, wasting no time in offering William a job. The American thought on it for a moment looking down at his left leg where the leg wasn’t visible due to the bandages, but his pants had been incinerated all the same by the Hollow’s fire. “I’m an officer of the Tokyo Police. If you don’t mind me keeping my day job then sure. I could use more allies since I’m new in Japan.” William was used to facing down the opposing spiritual life forms either by himself or with a couple others. He got the feeling he may have just signed up for something much bigger.

Kazura didn't even hesitate. "You're hired, then, into the Spiritual Department of my company. Being hired comes with a few perks and equipment that you can collect from the depot on floor negative three.
