It was time for Aldwin to show the Shinigami what potential he had. Celes had to admit that she was rather excited for it. She could not explain it, but she had a feeling about him. For all intents and purposes, he had the capabilities of a regular human, but the Shinigami believed that his potential could be drawn out. Unfortunately for Aldwin, Celes was notorious for believing in trial by fire. Learning was a good first step, but it was important to put those skills to the test. She cared for certain qualities more than others. Adaptability. Versatility. These all proved useful when engaging new foes. More than that, Celes believed that practical situations were the best way to learn.
This is the situation she had thrown Aldwin into. A practical situation against a real opponent who would show him no mercy. Naturally Celes remained as a safety net. She would not be so negligent as to leave Aldwin to his own devices while she scours some other area. She had to remain to protect the Nakkabaki in case something went south. For now, she would pay attention. She would analyze Aldwin's technique. His capabilities. She viewed him carefully as the Hollow began to descend to swoop in and attack Aldwin. She was eager to see how he would react. As the talons came in, to pry into Aldwin's very flesh, he made his move.
Celes watched as Aldwin dove out of the way, committing to a roll that would allow him to avoid the swift attack of the Hollow. To Celes, the Hollow appeared to be moving at the pace of a snail. She was accustomed to much greater speeds. Aldwin did not have that luxury. His speed was nowhere near Celes', and she recognized that the speed of the Hollow may appear frightening. She was impressed with him. To find the resolve to act in a swift manner against such a foe. A smile touched her lips as she was eager to see what other decisions he would make. That's when she heard it. A passionate voice that resounded with confidence. The desire to take on this challenge. "Come at me!"
If Celes had a smile on her face, it was a grin now. She knew that battle cry well. Now this was certainly getting interesting. Meanwhile the Hollow continued with its second attack. It would descend downward once more with an impressive speed of 100. It's talons once again were sharp and ready to dig into his flesh. The Hollow, predatorial in nature, was expecting him to dodge once more. After all that was his pattern to date. Sure, he had shown a newfound determination, but it knew prey. Then the unthinkable happened. Aldwin began to run towards the Hollow. As he tried to cut into the Hollow's flesh with the Seehle Schneide, it would be a successful hit.
The Hollow shrieked in pain. The blade dug into it and clipped part of its body. Taking an immediate evasive action, the Hollow moved its wings closer to its body. Spiraling to the side, it would escape further damage and attempt to whizz past Aldwin with its natural speed. It would then rise back into the air where it remained for a few moments. Blood began to drip down the wing that was cut as the red liquid slowly stained the feathers of its wing. It roared once; its eyes fixated upon Aldwin. Celes eyed the Hollow carefully. It displayed rather impressive acrobatics as it soared through the air and moved back into a more dominant position.
Despite that, Celes was also delighted to see how Aldwin responded. He had looked death in the eye and shown no fear. That took some confidence and passion. Though it seemed that this Hollow would not be down for the count. The blood that dripped from the Hollow began to slow. Then it halted. It was time for it to return the favor. Reiatsu began to flow around the wings of the Hollow. It would likely be difficult for Aldwin to notice it, but each of the feathers just sharpened. Suddenly the Hollow reared one wing back and flapped it towards Aldwin. The half quincy could see a set of feathers, ejected from the wing racing towards him with a speed of 100. If they hit Aldwin, the feathers would slice across his skin unless he had some way to defend against it as each feather was razor sharp like a blade. Celes blinked as she watched this. It was rather nasty. No matter if any of them hit, the Hollow released another set of feathers, aiming to pincushion Aldwin.
