Hado You Know These Incantations? [JT/Celes/Wycliff]

Over the time that she became a Shinigami, trained as one until now, Celes realized that there was one thing she truly lacked. Shinigami could specialize in 4 different styles. Zanjutsu, the art and mastery of the Zanpakutou. Hakuda, the art of hand to hand combat. Hohou, the art of step techniques and evasion. Finally Kido, the art of utilizing spells. Of the four, Celes definitely was the most lacking in the Kido department. The question was how she was going to become better at it.

As she mulled it over, Celes suddlenly exclaimed to herself. "Ah! I know how I am going to do this!!!" With a sudden twist, she began to run out of her barracks and quickly decided that she was going to self advertise. She didn't have any techniques to do so instead she did it the old fashioned way. Some time later and dozens of pencils and stacks of paper later, Celes had created flyers. They advertisement consisted of a crude drawing similiar to what one would expect of Rukia's. 

The advertisements each described who Celes was. Her Squad designation and that she wished to learn whatever manner of Kido that she could to become a more well rounded Shinigami. As she began finishing up, she quickly ran around the Sireitei and began posting flyers everywhere. It didn't matter where just as long as it was visible to all those who walked by those areas. Celes was acting very much like a child trying to get attention as she posted them in every conceivable space. To a regular person it must have been madening.

As she finished up posting her little advertisements everywhere, it had already become what appeared to be noon. The poor unseated Shinigami was exhausted from not only running everywhere, but just being energetic. As she lays on the porch of her barracks, she admired all that was around her. The Soul Society was truly a beautiful place. Full of life or I guess it was full of souls, but nonetheless, she had a place here finally and she would do whatever she could to become stronger.

Still waiting around, she began to drift off into a weird headspace. She reminisced about the past. Her sister and their mother. How they had tragically died. How Celes was left all alone. All she had left at the time was herself. Nobody else until she had met whom she was supposed to marry. Even then it turned out that fate was too cruel, taking her away from him. It was quite the experience as she was suddenly ripped from the headspace due to shock. It was almost maddening how quick the recoil was.

She continued to keep her eyes open for anyone who may have been interested in teaching her. This would also be a glorious oppurtunity to learn more Shinigami. To become acquainted with them and make connections. As of yet, Celes only one aspiration. That was to make herself and her family, wherever they may be proud. She smiled a bit as she sighed, taking note of the ambient noise of the trees that surrounded her. She owed it to herself. She had to become stronger, no matter the cost.

Once again Wycliff had snuck his way into squad 13’s captain’s room to sleep away the day, after all who was going to stop him? Ludwig? The non existent vice captain? Naw none of them would be able to stop him from sleeping there, honestly it would take the Captain Comander or another captain to stop Wycliff from sleeping in that office and well with the state of the soul society as it was no other officer would actually have the time to spend to tell Wycliff to stop sleeping in the room and honestly what was the chance that someone would actually do that? Absolutely none so Wycliff was sleeping without a care in the world, well that wasn’t exactly true.

Wycliff did have a few worries, however he was hoping that the nap in the office would solve any issues he was having. Sadly that wouldn’t be the case Wycliff would be spending his entire well earned nap plagued by nightmares of the things he was trying to escape. Wycliff would be tossing and turning in the rather comfortable chair that Ludwig had gotten for the office. Eventually after a very stressful nap Wycliff awoke covered in a cold sweat, it seemed like sleeping wouldn’t solve his issues, which really put him in a sour mood as that was one of his favorite pastimes. Sadly Wycliff wasn’t in the mood to watch any old movies and well doing actual paper work was unthinkable.

Not wanting to dwell on this in a room while awake Wycliff headed off towards the barracks to see if there was anything else, he could do to take his mind off of the nightmares. Honestly Wycliff was just looking for an excuse to dip out of the soul society and head to the human world for some R&R beach side. Really anything would be a good excuse to get out of his own head. It was as he was looking at the boards that he noticed something that had been posted recently. Someone was asking for help learning kido and being an all-around better shingami, huh this was something he hadn’t seen in a long time. Usually newbies wanted to try and do everything themselves and didn’t ask for help so to see that someone wanted help, learning kido of all things was a change.

As he read more and more he figured why the hell not he could kill two birds with one stone. Heading back to his own room Wycliff dug around for some things and a gym bag that he kept as a beach bag. He was making a mental list as he tossed stuff in there, sunscreen check, towel check, bathing suit check, random beach stuff check. It took him about twenty or so minuets before he was all done and fully packed. Looking over at the clock he noticed it was a little past noon, a bit late to head to the beach, but there would still be plenty of sun and ocean for a few hours. With his bag done he set off to meet this shingami.

It was a quick walk from his room to the barracks of where Celes was stationed at. Luckily for him there had been a brief description of what the shingami looked like. So when he saw a blonde haired blue eyed girl sitting on the steps of the barracks he knew he had found the right person. Wycliff smiled and waved at the woman with a big grin on his face. There was no hiding the fact that he had a beach bag on his back and he wasn’t going to beat around the bush about where he would be taking her to train. “Hey ya must be Celes right? Names Wycliff, I’m the one that’s gunna be training ya for the kido ya wanna learn. Now then, follow me we gotta get going the sun ain’t going be out all day long.”

Wycliff would have waved for her to come over and follow him as his greeting. He wanted to get going and would start walking towards the senkaimon’s he wasn’t going to tell her right away where they would be training, but if she asked he would respond with the truth. They were going to go to a beach that he knew and train in the sun and sand, something that if Celes could deduce if she paid attention to Wycliff when he first walked up given that the normal bottoms of his uniform had been replaced with a set of tropical floral swim trunks.

Almost appearing to drift back into some kinda of daze, Celes was interrupted as she suddenly felt another spiritual pressure emerge. She could clearly identify him as a Soul Reaper and she honestly knew better than to suspect anything else. As such she maintained a relax composure as she saw a man get into view. Celes was quite frankly at a loss for words for what she saw. Celes had expected a formal Soul Reaper much like herself wearing a shihakushō. Wycliff was the farthest possible from that right now.

Before her, Wycliff wore swim trunks and actually had a beach bag. It appeared that he was about to attend an event more akin to having fun and going to the beach than training. Nonetheless, Celes did not waste any time and listened as he prepared to speak. “Hey ya must be Celes right? Names Wycliff, I’m the one that’s gunna be training ya for the kido ya wanna learn. Now then, follow me we gotta get going the sun ain’t going be out all day long.” Celes only nodded in response mainly to her identification.

Despite all this, she quickly stood up and stumbled over her words. "O..oh. Yes of course Sir! Thank you for taking the time to train me...". She trailed off unsure of what to expect. It then hit her. His demeanor, the goofy smile, his clothes and finally the comment. They were heading to the beach. Celes certainly did not know what to make of this. She's never been to the beach, growing up in the frozen wastes of Russia as a human. As a Soul Reaper, her recreational activities did not expand much.

Either way, she followed Wycliff with a cautious expression. As they walked, Celes was wondering if she should strike up some form of conversation to make the journey less awkward. Celes quickly piped up as she began to bumble over herself like a little fool. "Thank you Sir for helping me in this. My name is Celes Shindazu and I am an Unseated Shinigami of Squad 11." She said this with surprising vigor and pride. Her appearance would make her come across as timid and while she was, she had a love for her squad. It was family to her.

It may have been amusing at first when Celes assumed a formal tone with Wycliff despite his seemingly unorthodox form of dressing. Celes then began to wonder just where he was leading both of them. The beach seemed like a dangerous place to practice Kido. Especially if it was a beach in the human world. Would they even be able to see anything if something went wrong? Were there repercussions? Celes genuinely did not know, but she guessed that at this point it was not much relevant and continued on.

As her curiosity got the better of her, she looked at Wycliff and inspected him. He certainly seemed about as old as her appearance wise. Maybe even slightly younger than her. Catching up with him, she smiled and tried to make conversation. "So..Wycliff..what made you take on this task of teaching me Kido? Isn't it a little dangerous to be practicing Kido at a beach?" These were all perfectly legitimate questions Celes felt and she thought that it would help alleviate the boredom of travels. It didn't seem like much else would as she followed, waiting for an answer.

Wycliff listened to everything that Celes was saying and the one thing that crossed his mind was that this girl was super polite and formal. Not something that really bothered him, however it was nice to see that the rookies still had some respect for the older members of the Gotti. Before he walked into the sekkimon he stopped and looked at Celes smiled and patted her head. “Don’t worry ya head too much everything will work out alright.” With a smile across his face he gave her back a small push forward so that she would enter the Senkaimon with him, taking them to the world of the living.

The two of them would end up in a small wooden shack. Looking around Celes would be able to see that the shack was older and in a state of repair. There were a few patches here and there in the wall and a small faint traces of dust coating everywhere. There was a faint smell of salt in the air inside of the shack. Looking close there was what looked like an ancient cot in the corner of the shack. Nearby said cot there was a small nightstand with a photo on it. Behind the two of them were two rather sturdy metal trunks, both of them looked older with some rust on the outside. The one on the right had a dent in the side of it while the one on the left had a broken handle.

There were no open windows in the shack yet there were strands of light coming through the cracks of door and the wood. The sounds of waves crashing against the shore could be heard nearby. Wycliff took a deep breath and was ready to go. “Oh go pick a swimsuit from the trunks. One on the left is for girls right is for guys.” Wycliff over the years had grabbed and collected plenty of different swimsuits of all sizes and shapes, mostly due to him using this as both a vacation spot and training. There was surly something in the trunks that would fit or look nice. While she was doing that Wycliff would be getting his towel ready.

Celes continued to look at Wycliff as he listened. It finally dawned on her just how much taller Wycliff was. It was actually a little scary for her to be around. While yes she understood he meant no harm, just his height alone was terribly imposing. As they continued to walk, she saw Wycliff suddenly stop and place his hand atop her head. She couldn't help, but blink at his current action. It was a sweet gesture given her height and his position as the elder between the two of them. Something about this made Celes rather fond of that idle moment. 

As he gently spoke, Celes could only listen. “Don’t worry ya head too much everything will work out alright.” Supposedly, the best answer she was going to get out of him, it felt like enough. He seemed like a proficient Shinigami after all who had been through more than his fair share of battles. In case something did happen, however unlikely, he could protect the two of them. Celes didn't necesarrily feel useless, but just overall felt like she could contribute less between the two of them. That was okay. She was a student of his currently. Her purposes were to learn.

As they both walked through the Senkaimon which was recently opened for their purposes, Celes closed her eyes. As soon as she opened them, her and Wycliff seemed to be a in a wooden shack. The air suddenly felt more humid. Rich with the smell of sea salt and the squaking of seagulls, Celes could only help, but blink as she looked out one of the old windows and saw plenty of human families just having a fun time at the beach. They were playing around with one another, playing pranks on siblings among many other activities.

All these sensations were rather new to Celes. She had grown up in the frozen weather of Russia and as such, she was used to the cold. Yet here she was in the warm with Wycliff who seemed to be showing the trunk and what was inside. As he began to speak his little piece about the swimsuit, Celes almost froze up. There was a reason she preferred the longer sleeve robes of the Shinigami. It got to protect her from her shame. The teasing of others haunted her even throughout death and she wanted to escape it.

Timidly, Celes rose up and spoke. "I'm sorry Wycliff, but I believe I will keeping my shihakushō on...". Her voice radiate with a general sense of anxiety. In fact if Wycliff paid close enough attention, he would be able to see the bandages that covered Celes forearms. While most of the bandage was covered by the robes, the little ribbon at the end could never be hidden by the shihakushō. It did bother her. Stopped her from trying on new things as she felt that she had to keep herself covered up. 

This overall reminded Celes. They were supposed to do Kido training yet here they were. At the beach. Celes was beginning to wonder if this was all just a practical joke. Not..it couldn't be. Wycliff would never just take her here without reason. Atleast she hoped, lest he might incur her temper. She tried to remain calm and hoped he would take her respectful refusal of swimwear with grace as she smiled at him. "Well...let's actually try to amuse ourselves while training." She wanted to make the best of it. 

She quickly took off the sandals she was wearing and with a giddy attitude, quickly ran outside to greet the beach. This was her first time to one after all. Why not enjoy it while they take the time to truly go over Kido. This is something that really played to Celes' personality. Her tenacity. The will to not only rarely give up, but never truly know when to quit or let something go. Even if they were gonna be here day and night, Celes wanted to do her best to be a good student.

Before all of that, however, she walked out onto the beach, avoiding passerbys who were likely not see her. As her feet began to slowly sink into the sand, she squeaked almost on instinct. An entirely new experience to her, she began to free her feet as she would take a feet steps and sink again slowly. Becoming used to it, she began to increase her speed as she ran round, beginning to enjoy herself far more. Even taking the time to run along the shore, Celes looked over to the shack and called out at Wycliff. "Are you gonna come slowpoke? Or do I have to teach myself now?" She grinned, obviously teasing the older Shinigami as she waited.

When Celes mentioned that she was going to keep on her uniform he gave her a puzzled look, it’s not that he wanted to get her into something revealing, although that wouldn’t be a bad thing it was more or less that the beach it’s self was hot and the humidity of Brazil along with the heat would cause anyone to start to sweat like Nixon during an interview about ethics. Still it was her choice and he wasn’t going to push it, after all he knew that some people just didn’t like showing off skin, taking a good look at her again he noticed a few bandages around her arms, possibly hiding scars or something else. He just accepted that she would be training in the middle of the sun in a black uniform on what was an extremely hot day.

"Are you gonna come slowpoke? Or do I have to teach myself now?" Wycliff chuckled to himself a bit as she said that. It seemed that over the course of a few moments the prim and proper attitude she had went to be more laid back. He didn’t mind it, however if she was going to tease him it was only fair that he teased her back and what better way than using a kido. Now the particular kido he was going to use was a specific one that was only really ever taught and learned by a few select people. The only reason Wycliff even knew about this kido was a few written down recorded instances of it being used and the creation of it. Heck he was sure that no one in the academy now adays even remembers or knows of it, so it would be an interesting sight to see Celes react to such a unique kido.

Without saying anything Wycliff pressed his hand against her back and just uttered out a single word to her. “Shibari” Suddenly and without warning or giving her time to react spiritual rope wrapped around her body tying her up and binding her in a rather awkward position for her to be in. Wycliff gave a small chuckle as the rope also formed a ball gag around her mouth. Now given this was a kido that he had used with the least amount of reiatsu spent it would fall apart with ease, but there wasn’t a big rush in telling Celes that. “At least I’m not all tied up like ya~” The kido did it’s job, a bit too well as Wycliff could see the rope causing her uniform to hug her body a bit too much.

Still with her being tied up like this, at least for the moment it would be hard to bring her to the area of the beach he wanted to. Slowly he picked her up and carried her in his arms towards a more remote part of the beach where there were less people and also no chance of the two of them being spotted by anyone. If by the time he got there she hadn’t broken the kido that he had placed on her he would do it himself with a smile. Either way it would take only a few minutes for them to get to where he wanted to go, a smaller secluded side of the beach with nothing around them say for trees and open ocean.

He gently lowered her down so that her feet would touch the warm sand first before letting her out of his arms. Placing his towel where he wanted so he would have a good view of both the ocean and the area around him he turned back to Celes. “Alright so what kido did ya wanna learn? I know most kido, say for a few family techs.” Wycliff had brought her here, but he wasn’t exactly too sure as to what she wanted to learn. Either way it wouldn’t’ really matter as he had a good handle on most kido so whatever she wanted to learn he knew it.

As Celes jumped out all gleeful and silly, she began to think about how much of a rewarding experience it was to come out her. Her breath slowing, her eyes becoming narrower as she began to focus on just enjoying herself. In just that instant, Celes' facial expression become normal and happy go lucky again. Not seeing Wycliff approach, she was having the time of her life without a care in the world. She was still wondering how they were going to practice now that there well all these people around. 

Her question would soon be answered. She felt a hand against her back and presumed it to be Wycliff's. Suddenly she heard a weird call out by him. With a puzzled expression before the kido initiated, she simply proclaimed, "Wait..Shibari?" Suddenly felt a normal invisible rope to appear. Without any warning she fell over as her hands became tied behind her back, as more rope tied her ankles together seemingly. It was certainly an interesting experience, but certainly not one she relished. 

When the ball gag formed and blocked any number of coherent noises she could make, she began struggling and overall not having a good time all bound and gagged like this. To add insult to injury, the rope was tight. Very tight in fact as if it was intended to cling to the body and show off its natural look. Celes was not the most provocative girl, but she certainly had an idea about the nature of this technique. While the bindings seemed tight, Celes had actually not applied much force yet as she simply tried to gauge her movement, trying to keep a level head.

She felt herself suddenly be picked up by Wycliff in a bridal style pose as she wiggled around and exclaimed, "Mmmphh!! Mmmnnnn!!!" Her clearly irritated words that may have been cursing were muffled by the brutal gag in her mouth. She was glad that they were invisible, because this could have been quite the ridiculous display. As they walked or she should say, as Wycliff carried her to a less populated part of the beach, she actually tried to struggle and heard tearing. 

Just off of that little note, she was able to tell that the kido itself was not very strong. It likely had next to no combat application and was a sick joke that Wycliff was playing on. On that note she actually struggled moreso and the kido began to dispel itself due to the pressure being applied to it. Regardless it was a little emberassing just how much force she had to apply just to break these bonds. As she was finally free, she glared up at Wycliff who was most likely smiling due to his little slick move.

With a quick hop, Celes landed on her feet and continued walking with Wycliff to a more secluded area. She began to grumble. "That was a low blow Wycliff...". No doubt she must've looked cute while making her little pouting face with a mixture of grumbling and anger. As she saw him stop though, he finally asked the question she has been waiting for.  “Alright so what kido did ya wanna learn? I know most kido, say for a few family techs.” With that, Celes gave him a look of utter joy.

She began to ponder about it as she noticed the towel he was laying down. Celes was beginning to realize just how much potential lack of motivation Wycliff had. She was curious how bad it was on a regular basis as he may just be pretending to be less lazy to impress. Either way, she thought about it long and hard. She began to think back with some of her training back with Venus. Essentially her mentor and one of her best friends who has tried training her in multiple styles that the Shinigami practice.

Overall, Celes could off of the top of her head only name a few. "Well...I do certainly wanna learn Hado. There was...Hado #34 and 35 that I've heard about before.." She began to think about her use of Bakudo and believed that it could probe useful to infact learn some Bakudo as well. "This one is a little more advanced, but one of my mentors told me that Bakudo #61 can be an invaluable too for any Shinigami. However, I'm willing to follow your lead as well for what you may find useful." She smiled at him briefly, waiting for him to either propose other ideas or go on with her proposals.

"That was a low blow Wycliff...” Wycliff couldn’t help but have a small grim across his face as he saw Celes pout a little angrily about his joke. He was about to say now ya didn’t say that because ya short did ya? However he decided to keep his joke to himself, didn’t want to piss her off too much besides it’s not like the kido caused any sort of damage to her. Still he knew that it was an embarrassing kido to be caught by at the very least there wasn’t anyone able to see them when it happened, so that would be a plus for her if anything.

When asking for what kido she wanted him to teach her he was shocked to hear that she wanted to learn three of them. Two of them were hado and the third was a bakudo. All three he was very familiar, ones he himself used in combat a lot. So the question was which would he start to train her in first. Wycliff took a deep breath in and looked around the beach, it was peaceful and clean, those kido would cause some damage, however maybe there was a way of doing it so that the kido would have a low impact on the area.

“Alright, ya relax for now and let me do something.” Wycliff said motioning to the beach towel that he had set down earlier as a place to sit without her getting sand in her uniform. Either way Wycliff knew what he wanted to do, he needed some wood something that was sturdy, but not exactly too big. The beach was pretty clear say for a few palm trees. “Guess one of those will do, hey Celes ya might wanna watch this.” He motioned for her to come over even though he had just made mention for her to sit down. If she came or not he would get started on one of the large trees.

He fired out a byakurai from his index finger, however instead of the bolt of lighting continuing out forward it stopped about a foot out from his finger. “When ya practice kido enough ya can do things like this, still shocks like a mother when ya get hit with it but it works great as a knife.” Using the byakurai Wycliff slowly cut down the tall palm tree, it crashed down against the sand making a loud thump. With it down he got started on what he needed to do, shaving and cutting the tree down to make wooden stakes about six in total. “If ya wondering how I did this, ya gotta slowly focus on the kido, ya know how in the academy they tell ya to imagine an arrow going off when ya casting this one? Instead I imagine that the arrow got stuck, it ain’t moving so what happens to the kido? It stays just like this.” Wycliff spoke out loud to Celes as he worked hoping that her hearing a bit of his explanation would answer a few things.

With the stakes done the kido vanished and Wycliff started to drag them into the ocean one by one. When he was about waist high in the water he stabbed them into the ground. Each one would have about a foot of height above the water as they stood there. He would repeat this action spacing each of the stakes about three feet apart each. When the last one was done he fell backwards into the ocean and just floated there for a bit. The day was hot and humid and doing physical work in the sun didn’t help, he couldn’t imagine how hot Celes was in all that black clothing. After a few moments of enjoying the cool salt water Wycliff moved and dragged himself back to the shore wet and dripping with water.

“Alright ya ready to learn? “ Wycliff asked Celes as he moved to be in front of the first stake. He waved for her to come over to him and waited till she was there. When she was there he stood in front of the stake and extended out his hand. “Now watch the kido, watch what I do, watch how it forms and pay attention to everything ok.” He smiled at her and took another moment to let her get ready before he started saying the incantation. With it being said the kido slowly started to form in the palm of his hand, the energy started to swirl and form into first a rock, that rock started to glow and melt finally by the time he said the name of the kido it fired out and struck the first stake. The hot magma impacted the wood and started to cool and harden due to the water forming rock again. “Ok now ya try and I’ll be here to correct anything.”

Celes smiled at Wycliff patiently after she rattled off to him what type of Kido she wanted to learn. Suddenly she heard him speak. “Alright, ya relax for now and let me do something.” With a little nod, she sat down in the hot sand which granted was burning a little against her skin, but it was overall don't that bad. Not even the sun's warm light pounding onto her clothed skin bothered her too much for now. It may affect her later, but Celes was a here and now person. She wanted to enjoy the moment of learning.

As she began to wonder what he was doing, she saw him point to a palm tree and unleash a Kido she was all too familiar with. In a sudden flash, she saw the Byakurai shoot out from his, but it was different from what she was used to. With wide eyes, she just saw the Byakurai extend outward from his finger to the tree and then just stop in midair. It was almost as if time had slowed to a screeching halt, but Celes knew better. She understood that it was of Wycliff's own volition, she just didn't understand how.

She then heard Wycliff explain. “When ya practice kido enough ya can do things like this, still shocks like a mother when ya get hit with it but it works great as a knife.” As he began to cut the palm tree into various stakes, he explained further.  “If ya wondering how I did this, ya gotta slowly focus on the kido, ya know how in the academy they tell ya to imagine an arrow going off when ya casting this one? Instead I imagine that the arrow got stuck, it ain’t moving so what happens to the kido? It stays just like this.”

Celes tilted her head and nodded, but did speak up a little. "I gather that one requires a little more understanding of how a kido is discharged to do something like that?" She felt as though she knew the answer to her question, but even so, she felt that all questions were valid to her learning oppurtunity. With that she suddenly saw Wycliff begin take these stakes one by one and set them up around the shoreline of the ocean. It was certainly interesting to watch, but she was wondering what he was doing. With an audible splash she saw him drop into the ocean and float for a moment. 

After rising and walking back to the shoreline, Celes heard him ask. “Alright ya ready to learn?“ With a resounding smile, she quickly exclaimed, "Of course!" That was the queue as Celes blinked at Wycliff as she could atleast sense a little bit of buildup of energy. It was different, unlike any spell she was used to. As she began to fade into her thoughts, she was quickly taken out of her daze when she heard the beginnings of an incantation. As she suspected, one she was not familiar with.

In the palm of Wycliff's hand, Celes saw a rock begin to form. Celes was a little perplexed, but continued to watch. She was caught a little off guard when she saw the rock begin to melt and break down. As Wycliff finished the incantation, she saw the molten rock now launch at one of the stakes. In almost an instant, the rock splashed against it, fully breaking down into the hot molten magma that the rock was beginning to melt into. As the magma flowed down the stake, it hit the water creating an upsurd amount of steam and even more rock.

Celes' eyes glazed over with excitement as a little sparkle appeared in it. She quickly exclaimed. "Wow! That was incredible!" To her it truly was. The kido she had performed before this training sesion was rather limited to the byakurai. She did not know how to do much more and this seemed right up her ally. Suddenly, Wycliff commented. “Ok now ya try and I’ll be here to correct anything.” With one of her quick nods, Celes looked at the stakes and began to concentrate a little.

While watching, Celes picked up a bit of the incantation which she began to recite to best of her abilities. It was shaky, but overall decent. Opening her hand, she focused whatever reiatsu she could as an uneven ball of rock began to form in her hand. It did not look as smooth or as large as Wycliff's, but she understood that it was a start. She then focused on its melting, imagining a similiar sensation to ice melting into a fluid. As she did this, the rock began to slowly melt away. The process was much slower than Wycliff's, but it was being done.

She then extended her hand, sending it outward towards the stake, the only difference being that it burst in midair, the spell essentially fizzling due to Celes' excitement and lack of focus towards the end. The magma that arose was beginning to cool down and turn to stone due to the shoreline and was nowhere near close enough to actually harm the two of them. Celes pouted a little and looked at Wycliff with a sigh. "It seems as though I may need some work after all.."

Celes' face looked defeated. While this was her first time even attempted a different and albeit higher level Kido, she was often regard not necesarrily as a prodigy, but a rather quick study. This would normally be lightweight work to her, but the added difficulty perhaps come from the multi-step process of this kido. Unlike byakurai, one was performing three different tasks as the same time which Celes of course found daunting. Her face would become less melancholy and happy that she even attempted it as she waited for some manner of feedback from Wycliff.

 

[Wycliff]

Wycliff stepped back and stood nearby Celes while she started to try and use the kido he had just used. The first step in getting the kido to work properly was the incantation, he knew that just learning it from one use wasn’t the easiest thing. Sure some of the lower level kido had short and easy incantations, however the further up you went in numbers the harder the incantations became and the lengthier they were, heck the strongest bakudo he knew had three full length songs that the user had to use to even have it work, so her getting most of the incantation in the first go was amazing even if there were a few mistakes here and there.

The next was the formation of the rock, while it didn’t have to be a smooth he did notice that it was very uneven and rather small, from that moment he knew that she would have issues when firing it as it wouldn’t be able to sustain it’s self. This was another mistake, however it didn’t mean that the kido it’s self would fail, just that it would be harder for it to actually work, the most important part was the melting of the stone to magma, that would determine if the kido would be a success or a failure.

The rock slowly started to melt away, as it did he noticed that it was taking a lot longer than when he had done it. The part that worried him is that he slowed down the process immensely and now Celes was making it so her’s was even slower than his. This wouldn’t do the rock wouldn’t melt all the way through. Then he saw her fire it out, it went farther than he thought, however as it made it half way across the beach it exploded outwards sending chunks of half melted stone everywhere. The kido had failed for a few reasons, but she had skill. Not many were able to do so well with the first attempt at a kido.

Looking at Celes and hearing her words it looked to him that she was going to cry over the failed kido. He smiled at her and softly placed a hand on her head. “Ya did good for ya first time, ya just need some more practice. Watch me again and then ya gunna try with some more help ok.” He rubbed her hair a bit in a playful way before stepping back a bit. He wanted to tease her a little to get her mind off of being sad, being playful and goofy was his style, he hoped that his actions would get at least a small smile outa her.

With some distance between him and her he aimed at the first target once more. He said the incantation out loud once more, this time going slower so that she would be able to pick up more of it. He spent more time on shaping the stone, making sure to rotate it as he did adjusting it in places where it was off. Melting it was done faster than what he did originally only because he had the rock glow brighter and melt faster than what he expected. Just as before the kido struck the first target exploding upon impact. The magma slowly slid down the wood cooling and forming into stone the waves crashed against it.

“Aight get over here.” Wycliff waved for her to come where he was standing, when she moved he would step back and allow her to stand where he had been. “Now, did ya see anything I did different that time?” He asked her wanting to see if she picked up on a few other things he did extra that would help fix her problems. Sure he could simply tell her, but half of the training was him trying to get her to figure out how to solve other issues with kido if they would come up. If you know how a kido is suppose to act you can fix how you’re casting it or making it, that was something he learned early on and was a main reason why he was so prolific with kido.

After her answer he would simply nod yes or no depending on if she got the answer right or not. After she answered he would tell her why he did the things he did to the kido and follow up with a question asking her what those things did to the kido. If she didn’t know the answer to those questions he would tell her and explain the effects it had on the end results of the kido. This whole exchange would take only a few moments as it was just a bit of reinforcement on casting the kido and explanation of the kido.

After that was all done he motioned for her to start again. As she started the incantation and the formation of the kido he would step right behind her and get in close. His chest would touch her back as he extended his hand outward and started to shape the kido with her. “Don’t lose concentration, this kido is all ya, I’m just here to help.” His hand would extend and cover hers his face lowered to hang next to hers. If she stopped and waited she could feel his heart beat. His reiatsu would mix slightly with her’s as he helped form the kido perfectly with her, his nugging her in the right direction each time she did something wrong.

[Celes Shindazu]

The young Shinigami continued to look up at Wycliff as he did the most interesting thing. He patted her head. Her hair was moved by his hand in what could only be described a playful manner. She assumed this was just a way to cheer her up and she had to admit. It was working pretty well. In almost an instant, the sadness had faded as she chuckled a little. He was just a big goofball and it was endearing. He then began to put a little distance between the two of them which concerned her at first.

She was surprised when he actually offered a remark, impressed with her ability to even successfully start the Kido. She smiled as she noted his movements. He was executing the Kido again, but it seemed different. He seemed to be placing a tiny spin on the rock in his hand. She wasn't sure, but it seemed to be it. As he did so, the boulder melted down even faster. She was without a doubt impressed with the elder's Shinigami use of Kido. It was something she was always interested in, but her reiatsu control was not the greatest.

As the rock burst into magma and slid against the stake a second time, Celes heard his remark. “Aight get over here.” She followed, almost obediently as then heard him continue. “Now, did ya see anything I did different that time?” Celes thought it over a little in her head and her mind could not shift away from the calm demeanor of molding the rock into magma, almost like crafting a vase. Celes spoke firmly. "Well..I noticed you took your time with molding the rock. The process of melting it was quicker, but you cut at the rock with precision."

After a little lecture session in which Wycliff had explained what he was doing and basically breaking it down for Celes, he motioned for her to try it again. She took a more resolute stance and put her mind to it. As she began trying to form the Kido, she felt the most interesting of sensations. Wycliff was right up against her back. It was certainly something that caught her off guard, but she decided to roll with it as she felt he must have had a reason. As she began focusing it, she felt something else. 

She would hear him say, “Don’t lose concentration, this kido is all ya, I’m just here to help.” Still determined, she would continue focusing with determination and resolve. She felt his reiatsu, slowly meshing with hers. It was subtle and it felt like she was being nudged in the right direction. If she leaned too far right, he would bring her back to center. She felt more comfortable with herself as it stabilized her poorer sense of control of what made up Kido. 

As she focused more, the rock formed and it was much smoother. She didn't spin it like he did, but with the aid of him, it was much easier to begin slowly breaking it down. The ball was already turning into pure magma after a few seconds and once it felt just right, she extended her hand as it launched out and slammed against the stake, breaking down and sliding down it. She had done it. Almost immediately after, she jumped outward and excitedly yelled, "I did it!!! Yeah!!!" Her attitude was that of utter joy.

[Wycliff]

Wycliff smiled as she was able to properly use the kido and celes was jumping in joy from being able to do so. He chuckled a bit placing his hand on her head again messing up her hair a bit. “Nice job, now ya just gotta do it by ya self, without me helping ya guide it.” It was one thing to use a kido with the help of someone, but another to do it all alone. While Wycliff did fix her mistakes while she formed the kido he made sure that each time he did so she felt the pressure of his reiatsu push against where the error was.

Sometimes it was easier for him to do it like that rather than trying to explain things with words. While there was a manual for training different kido Wycliff found them rather boring, even for someone who practice kido as much as he did. So while there was a proper way of learning how to do the kido he always found it better to fail and learn from the mistakes, than the proper way. He looked at the after math of her kido, while it wasn’t as strong as his kido the ball of magma did do what it was supposed to do turn into rock as it hit the target.

“Now then do ya think ya can do it by ya self?” Wycliff looked at Celes with a smile across his face. He knew that the rush of actually properly using a kido was a great one and would probably carry over to doing it again and again. He was sure that she would try it, even if he didn’t ask her to do so. Still between the heat of the kido and the sun a bit of sweat started to build on his forehead, Wycliff couldn’t imagine how Celes would be feeling in all that black clothing.

“Now I need ya to do something, I’ll be back in a bit, but I want ya to keep practicing that kido. Hit all the targets and build up a tall stone spike where each of the wooden stakes are in the water, just like how we’re doing with the first one.” By this time the first wooden stake was almost gone, burned to a crisp barely holding upright. However the stone from the kido was forming into a pillar where the wood was, acting like a new target. This was all part of Wycliff’s plan on how to train all three kido without destroying too much of the beach.

With that Wycliff started to head back to where they had originally arrived at in the human world. While he had grabbed everything he would have needed for a normal day at the beach he had forgotten one very important thing, drinks. In everything that he had packed he hadn’t bothered grabbing any water or sodas. A very poor mistake given how hot it was and the hot kido that they were using. Wycliff was already starting to sweat and he figured after a bit longer Celes would be as well, if she wasn’t already, it would reflect badly on him as a trainer if he didn’t have drinks for the both of them.

Luckily for him one of the spiritually aware individuals was working a beach shack nearby. Wycliff knew this individual, well he knew him when they were younger. The man was old, easily in his late seventies now as he rocked back and forth in a chair that was behind the counter. Wycliff smiled at the old soul, the man nodded and simply waved his hand when Wycliff tried to pay for a drink simply shaking his head not wanting to accept money from the shingami. Defeated Wycliff took the drinks with him and headed back to Celes with a bottle of water in hand for her, the whole trip would take about ten minutes.

[Celes Shindazu]

Celes would smile as she looked at Wycliff. Having been able to do the Kido albeit with help was a massive confidence boost to her. Normally she struggled even attempted new and more difficult Kido on her own. With a mentor, however, it became much easier not only to visualize everything, but to try and use it. Admittedly, Celes had gotten a feel for the Kido by practicing it with Wycliff. Unfortunately, her hand was a little numb from using a Kido she's never actually tried before. Ultimately though, she felt she could get used to it.

Celes looked at Wycliff as he began to speak. “Now then do ya think ya can do it by ya self?” The young Shinigami nodded, obviously still proud of herself being able to even attempt something like this and then successfully put it off. She then listened to him continue.  “Now I need ya to do something, I’ll be back in a bit, but I want ya to keep practicing that kido. Hit all the targets and build up a tall stone spike where each of the wooden stakes are in the water, just like how we’re doing with the first one.”

Celes nodded as she waited for Wycliff to walk off. She would begin concentrating as stuck her palm face up. She now had a better understanding on how to direct and shift her reiatsu. The entire process became alot easier after attempting it and being guided. This time the ball appeared much smoother. She began rotate it as they practiced. The rock began to melt not quite as quick as when she had done it with Wycliff's aid, but that was okay. When it was fully melted, she launched it and despite being a little shacky, it did make its mark.

The young Shinigami was impressed with herself being able to pick up on the technique so quickly. She watched as the hot lava began to stream down the stake as it began to burn a little from the intense heat. The water meawhile was cooling the lava very quickly and creating a stone pillar. It was not quite as big as the first because Celes had to attempt multiple times on the first pillar to even understand the technique in the first place. This was all without her even trying the incantation. She did not know it and may have had to ask Wycliff later.

She tried again, focusing her reiatsu as she created a pepple which was once again smoother. It began to rotate as she melted it at a much more rapid pace. It was becoming easier with practice and the young Shinigami could recognize this. As she continued this with each stake, her ball became rounder, smoother and melted down far more quickly. By the time that Wycliff had returned, there were multiple stone pillars standing in the water, the waves crashing against them. The only thing that was different was Celes.

The younger Shinigami looked visibly fatigued. Not necesarrily from the sund that was pounding down on them, but the mental focus she had to put into the Kido. As Celes walked over to Wycliff, she noticed a bottle of water in his hand. She looked at it with greedy longing and almost actually snatched it from his hand. She began to pour it down, the hydration of the water uplifitng her and waking her up essentially. Turns out even Shinigami could suffer from a minor form of heat exhaustion.

With this though, she planted herself on the ground and sighed, sitting down. Looking up at Wycliff she spoke calmly. "Thank you for your help Wycliff. I didn't think I was capable of this, but you really helped me see the strong side of myself. I thank you for that." Celes was genuinely smiling at Wycliff as she began to yawn a little. This was beginning to get to her. She was a little tired, but could keep going. The only question was what more Kido they were gonna go over from Celes' list. She had given a couple after all.

She continued looking at Wycliff and spoke more. "I have a much better grasp on actually melting the rock and it doesn't explode in midair anymore like it did the first time." She grinned as she closed her eyes, her hand twitching a little as soft little burn marks formed on her hand. They were first degree burns at most and she just assumed that they formed from the intense heat of the kido on her unitiated skin. She giggled despite the little sting and sighed. "So...what's next on the list Wycliff?"

[Wycliff]

Wycliff smiled at the young shingami with everything that she had done, it was a good training for her, however he could see that she was tired. While she wanted to continue to train Wycliff knew better than that. He didn’t realize that Celes would be this exhausted from this training he had plans for more training, however looking at the unseated officer it was clear that doing so would be reckless for her. Still to be able to make the pilliars so quickly in the time he had gone and gotten drinks was impressive especially given that this was her first time using that kido.

“Naw ya done for the day. Ya about to pass out from the heat, and probably the lack of reitatsu. I’ll teach ya the other techs some other day, but ya should go get some rest.” Wycliff placed the other drink in her hand and looked out at the six pilliars. He had planned to have Celes break them, but now he would have to deal with them himself. “Tell ya what for now I’ll show ya a cool kido that they don’t teach ya in school, but ya gotta go rest afterwards.” Wycliff knew the kido he was about to do and it would cause a massive explosion, luckily there wasn’t anyone else in the area.

Wycliff extended out one arm and started to speak. "O, Thyne of Impotent allure, draw thyself here today in the very pits of Tartarus and the glowing golden; There are six keys to seven doors, and seven levels to eight stages; There are dogs and cats of Rodi, there is the mighty god of each, and then God himself to smite you in your own feeble underdressing and vomit and snot and drool; Know yourself, you foolish thing, and do not hold back, realize only that by the stars there can be nothing but greatness; The lightning compels you, Sacrilege, Destruction, Chaos, all unite; Final, Destructive, Shattering and knowing, realize yourself and your butchery! Hado #99: Kaminari Ha”

As he did the incantation an electrical aura started to surround his body, the crackling of electricity could be seen surrounding him and slowly starting to form above. This kido was a destructive one, made for killing, but Wycliff toned down the power a lot. As the final words were said two hundred blades of lighting formed in the air above him, each massive and impossibly large. If Celes shumpoed to get away she would still be under the blades, that’s how large they were. It wasn’t a secret to those in high rank that Wycliff knew Kido from the 90 series, he had used this exact one to repell a hollow before.

He aimed the blades at the six pillairs and threw them at the pillars. The moment the first one struck the pillar the rest of them formed into a massive dragon made out of lightning. This dragon let out a loud roar as it slammed it’s body into the six pillars utterly destroying them and clearing out a bit more of the beach to be just more sand. Wycliff took a few steps back his arm twitching after using the kido and a smile across his face. “Fun kido ain’t it. Now get on home, I’m going to spend some time around here.” Wycliff opened up a senkaimon and motioned for Celes to leave. It was up to her if she wanted to or not, he wasn’t going to force her.

Whatever she did Wycliff would go over to his towel and lay down in the shade. While the day was nice he was sweating and just wanted to cool off a bit, after all he gave Celes the other drink he had gotten. As he laid down he felt it , the cool chill enveloping his body again, in his mind he saw Chukudo his inner spirit was different. He seemed older and was dressed differently without being able to say anything to the spirit to dismiss him the inner spirit spoke to Wycliff. The more the spirit spoke the colder Wycliff felt, the words came out all wispy and covered up by a roaring wind, yet there was one thing he could make out a single sentence. “You’re accepting your strength Wycliff, embrace it and Boreaswill be yours to command.” Chokudo kept speaking yet the only thing that came out clear was the single word Boreas.

Celes looked at Wycliff almost excitedly as she was waiting to hear what they would do next. She was met with disappointment, however as Wycliff looked at her with concern. She listened to him, eager and hoping that her hunch was wrong. It wasn't. “Naw ya done for the day. Ya about to pass out from the heat, and probably the lack of reitatsu. I’ll teach ya the other techs some other day, but ya should go get some rest.” For all intents and purposes, Celes was the student and Wycliff was the superior.

She pouted a little, but just ended up nodding. She spoke calmly, but a little disappointed. "Fair enough..." Her expression became less sour as she heard Wycliff express something else. “Tell ya what for now I’ll show ya a cool kido that they don’t teach ya in school, but ya gotta go rest afterwards.” She nodded eagerly, unsure of what was about to happen, but her answers were met with curiosity as she despite her low ability to sense energy, felt an incredible amount of buildup of reiatsu. She tilted her head and waited. 

As Celes waited, she listened closely. She heard every word clearly, but her eyes bulged as soon as she heard the value. This was about to be an impressive display of power as she saw dozens of blades of pure electricity to form above Wycliff. She was not entirely sure what to make of it, but one this was clear. This Hado could destroy a person in an instant. She saw the blades focus on the stakes as they all formed into a massive dragon and blasted at ultra high speed, rocketing towards the stakes. A large white light later and Celes physically holding her ground, she saw the result.

The stakes were gone along with a part of the beach that was beginning to fill with sand. She imagined just given the general size of the technique that Wycliff was holding back. To even be able to contain such a powerful skill was truly a feat in and of itself. Celes just looked on in amazement at Wycliff and sighed. Would she be able to reach such heights? Maybe? She has been focusing on Zanjutsu lately. Perhaps what she lacked in Kido she could make it for in swordsmanship. She passed it off as an afterthought for now. 

For now, Celes was taken out of thought as she suddenly heard Wycliff again. “Fun kido ain’t it. Now get on home, I’m going to spend some time around here.” Celes nodded and bowed, smiling as she continued to think about what awaited her in the future. She quickly exclaimed, "Yes of course. Thank you for your troubles Wycliff. It was truly an honor to learn from you." Celes smiled and noticed the Senkaimon be opened by Wycliff which she walked towards, looking back at the older Shinigami and went in, traveling back to the Soul Society.

Back in the Soul Society, Celes ended up by the grand Senkaimon. It was near the Seireitei, but Celes was truly beat. She just wanted to relax and sleep for that matter. With a longing for rest she began to travel to the Squad 11 barracks. As she traveled over there, she thought about all that she had learned. She admittedly did enjoy finding someone else who seemed up to satisfying her constant craving to learn. It was admittedly one of Celes' biggest faults, the constant need to learn more about things she enjoyed.

As she traveled on, she enjoyed the relaxing ambience of the Soul Society. It was not quite as authentic as the Human World, but it just had to do. She was a Shinigami after all and had a job to do. She couldn't just head out to the Human World without reason she thought. Perhaps she could ask Venus for permission sometime again. That is how she normally went about it after all. She tended to ask the elder Shinigami for permission to just explore and satiate her own curiosity. This was dismissed by her though.

As Celes closed in on the Squad 11 barracks, she noticed that it was empty as usual. Not many she knew resided within the Squad 11 barracks for there were almost no members in the squad last she recalled. She did remember hearing about the Vice Captain of the Squad, but she had actually never met him personally. She sighed to herself and thought. "Perhaps it would be a good idea to rise up the ranks of this Squad. Maybe I could actually be useful as I get stronger..." She smiled and sighed.

She began to open the sliding door to her room as she looked around. It was still messy from when she made her flyers, but it was whatever. She accepted that she could naturally be a messy girl. She quickly took off some of her gear and placed her Zanpakutou right next to her bed. She smiled and just stumbled over to the bed and looked down. With a quick thud, she would fall on it and soon she would drift into a deep slumber from a long hard days of work, a smile still on her face the whole time.
