I use this thread to test formatting, save drafts of my posts to prevent the internet from eating them, and generally keep notes. I obviously can't stop you from reading any of it, just be warned.
Adventures I DM may be spoiled by these notes.

Slightly differentiating the type of movement achieved in step techniques. Not changing what they do, but giving them just that little bit of flavor.
Shunpo steps, as if running.
Hirenkyaku slides along a path of spirit particles.
Sonido pounces, it's something primal.
Bringer light jumps, since it's based around kicking off of a surface by way of fullbring.
■■■■■ Potential Future Arcs ■■■■■
Something delving into Time Castle. Akio's job is sketchy already, selling spiritual junk for a bount who made not explaining things to his subordinates an actual business policy.
■■■■■ Concepts I want to use later ■■■■■
Weapon that acts as a perfect conductor for kido spells.
Torahiko Tachibana - Mangaka with the envious eyes.
Amber fossil release.
■■■■■ Release Cultivation ■■■■■
Ren Akasawa [Mk.Zwei] - Bow and sword, in accord
Need a bow release for if he returns to the vandenreich, and I'm more and more expecting him to go that route.
The underlying arc frame of Ren's bow release... undecided. Need to figure out how to resolve his issue first, finish an arc.
Dragon, hoard, greed, stealing things from his enemies and turning them into "treasures".
Might carry a scythe or polearm?
Ren's unique quincy cross is a shield-shaped silver badge, etched with a raven depicted with wings spread, carrying the straight-armed pentacle of the vandenreich pentacle in its beak. A piece of faux-medieval heraldry that juxtaposes faith and greed.

Class 6 Bow Form Property: The Depth Collector
Through her Class 6 Form Property, Volkov transforms her bow into her signature serrated dagger. This dagger is quite large, and a rather thick rope remains tied around the handle attached to her wrist. As one can expect, her ability to use this weapon scales off of the woman's Strength. Instead of firing arrows, however, this dagger can be charged with reiatsu and thrown, flying at the speed of an arrow and being treated as a Class equal to the price of the arrow that had been paid for. Once this dagger finds itself embedded in a surface - be it biological or otherwise - the only individual that can remove the dagger without problem is Volkov. As one can expect, this makes the dagger exceptionally strong when it comes to pulling people back toward the Quincy, or pulling the Quincy to a new location.
Attacks dealt by Volkov's Bow will Mark For Death, putting this Mark on the target that was hit specifically. Trying to remove the dagger with less than 3 Ranks in Bleeding Tolerance and without help from Koshka will also Mark For Death. These Marks interact with the rest of Volkov's abilities, do not expire, and remain specific to each individual Marked. Being a weapon designed to quickly and efficiently kill those marked on Koshka's list, the OS of defensive properties, abilities, or items used by someone with at least one Mark For Death on them will be reduced by 150 for each individual Mark. Wounds left that Mark For Death will leave a black, necrotic mark on individuals based on the location struck.
Class six bow form, dragon puppet.
Alternate class six bow form, dragonfire

Abilities should show personality... Let's think of what Hidromielleón is, and how that could manifest?
As much as we hate the future here...
Amber?
This would imply something about his nature involves a desire to stop time? Or that he himself is something preserved from the primordial age.
He's a beast, a predator who's trying to build an entire person on top of that. He tries to disguise his primal core as best he can, while also trying to shape his environment to match it.
Hidromielleón's overall theme is "Tyrant's Amber", the ability to produce a spiritual resin from his body and flash-fossilize it. After which he may weild the substance directly, use its unique reaction with his own fur to generate powerful electrical charges, or even fossilize prey and subordinates into "natural treasures" he can then extract aspects of.
The symbolic tangle at the heart of this starts from three points. One core aspect of the black lion's ability is the properties of amber. A gemstone that begins life as a viscous liquid, can engulf and preserve ancient life, and can generate and hold an electrical charge. The other central aspect is a symbolic equivalency between apex predators and tyrannical kings, those who prey on the inhabitants of their territory. These seemingly unrelated points are then linked by way of the reoccurring mythological motif of the "wild hunt", a terrifying supernatural hunting party that arrives alongside storms, whose riders often include ghosts and old gods, often with a kingly or otherwise noble figure from among such at their lead.
Amber thus becomes the natural beauty of a primordial hunting ground, and the treasure hoarded by tyrants. The ancient creatures frozen within it are made into the lion's pride, the tyrant's knights, the hunt's riders and hounds. The static electricity it stores is a reflection of the great storms that follow alongside the hunt.
This tangled symbolism is then built into a more coherent narrative by establishing Hidromielleón himself as the beastly tyrant who leads the wild hunt, he then weilds the authority this role gives him through the medium of amber.
A "natural treasure" is the context of Hidromielleón's release ability is a special item. A mass of amber that contains a "fossil" of a particular soul's reiatsu that Hidromielleón chose to preserve for later use as crafting material or a catalyst for his more advanced techniques.
These fossils are created via a cinematic ritual, and can only be derived from two groups, souls he's recently consumed, and willing subjects. Even then, the latter category remains contingent on the subject's willing participation in his rituals.
While natural treasures are used as a vital catalyst for certain techniques, what he extracts via this process are scraps of identity, and not power. The fossilized reiryoku of the catalyst isn't incorporated into the technique itself, nor used up in any way.
On a forum mechanics level, natural treasures are a matter of flavor,
remains a strictly cosmetic effect. He has no access to any particular memories, abilities, or other such traits. Even if consumed, player characters and major NPCs cannot be added to Hidromielleón's hoard of treasures without the express concent of the player or staff member who owns said character/NPC.
As an example, if he were to fossilize a shinigami'e reiryoku into a natural treasure, and then manifest said treasure as
serve him in battle, the result would be more similar to a clone of Hidromielleón with the original shinigami's appearance. It would have none of the mannerisms, speech patterns, or memories to convincingly pass as any particular individual, and while it would potentially carry a convincing replica of the fossilized shinigami's zanpakuto, potentially even in a released appearance, it would have none of the actual properties of original.
Hidromielleón's overall ability is "Fossilized Vital Spark"
which is fundamentally based off three properties found in amber. A stone that begins as a liquid, can contain preserved creatures as inclusions, and can generate electricity.
This manifests as the ability to produce a spiritual resin from his body and flash-fossilize it. After which he may weild the substance directly, use its unique reaction with his own fur to generate powerful electrical charges, or even fossilize prey and subordinates into "natural treasures" he can then extract aspects of.
His overall ability manifests externally as six sub-souls he calls his "pridemates" or "knights" Their purpose is simple, to serve the as subordinates in his hunting party.
His pridemates have two forms; The first as a collection of shields that float in formation around the leonine hollow. The second being
which both changes as he evolves, and techniques can alter their forms further.
As the hunt requires camouflage, he can dismiss these manifestations of his ability entirely, though doing so prevents him from using certain techniques until he re-manifests them.
being an apex hunter and for projecting a sheer primal authority over others. Much of his ability is rooted in the concept of the "wild hunt", a terrifying hunting party of ghostly or fae nature led by a noble figure.
While his incarnation of the concept is not a perfect match for any other particular iteration, it remains clearly identifiable as one regardless.
Th hunt is also known for granting boons to certain mortals, typically in the form of gold, or spoils from the hunt.
The nature of his ability is to be both a predator and a king, and he expresses his role and primal authority through two types of techniques;
Of course, the wild hunt is defined as a collective led by a king, and is never a singular figure. So with him as the obvious king, where are the other hunters?
Typically created from the remains of consumed souls, he may also create such relics from a willimg subordinate without consumption or permanent harm.
.
While the tyrant lion can manifest those whose souls he's consumed as members of his pride, they exist only as aspects of himself.
all have been warped nearly beyond recognition
As it relates to the mechanics of the forum, natural treasures are a matter of flavor and aesthetics. They are fully
The single exception to this is reiatsu signatures, which are partially duplicated, the victim's reiatsu being infused with his own dark aura.
Two work arounds exist to this limitation. The first is that he can simply stalk souls he intends to add to his collection for an extended time, learning whatever information he would need as would any other imposter would. The second is that he may use use his own techniques through his manifest einherjar, allowing them to fight

As a final note on the matter, player characters cannot be added to his ecosystem, barring explict out-of-character consent.
Because of the rough divide between

Reverting to his larger, natural form after this transformation has no associated cost, and occurs much faster as he
As his spiritual mass grows, his ability must change slightly to keep up with his shifting
A part of this phenomena is that certain souls become integrated into his
These rare worthy prey are converted either partially as hunting trophies or fully as subordinate entities. It should be important to note that he has no actual access to the abilities of those subsumed into his internal domain, nor any unusual qualities they may have possessed. Thus,
His overall consists of his "Pelt" and "Pride", Pelt being a barrier jacket styled armor that allows for form changes, and Pride being a set of familiars that act sort of like Orohime's fairies.
His familiars start out as smaller, maskless hollows. But grow alongside him. They have semi-independent minds, able to react to attacks without being directly controlled, but not so much as to generate their own strategies.
Souls eaten by any such "pridemates" are added directly to Hidromielleón's spiritual mass as if he had consumed them directly.

■■■■■ Release Felling ■■■■■
Akio - Coils, snakes, spirals, rotation, emptiness...
So, Akio's release was a mistake to some degree. Though there were also intentional issues I'd rather not get into at this time.
I'm working to fix it, but only after he loses a few battles in threads first so I can justify thr change.
His 8th class bow Form uses his lowest OS [STR] for offensive power and durability.
But his highest [RS] for arrows it fires. It's also so heavy he struggles to weild it even with his strength doubled.
His 1st class Form is the same sword again, just without those drawbacks.
There was a reason for that, at the time I wrote him. Actually two reasons, the IC and OOC versions of the argument.
In-character, the sword is too heavy and uses his lowest OS for two major reasons. The first is because it was someone else's spirit weapon, and Akio can't use it at full efficiency becuase it wasn't made for him. The second reason is that Akio rejects being a quincy, to the degree the post narration calls him a fake and a heretic, making a point of never using the word quincy to refer to him unless it has some kind of dismissive adjective attached.
Out of character, I designed Akio's release with certain story beats in mind. One is that he can't use his release properties correctly until he makes progress in sorting out the issues he has with his identity as a quincy.
His 6th class form is a sword that uses his lowest OS, and is so heavy he struggles to lift it.
His 5th class firing shoots arrows along a curve where they orbit him one or more times before returning to his bow and refunding half the reiatsu spent on them.
4th class power gives the sword from his 6th the ability to cut energy, liquids, and gasses. It can't cut anything with a solid material form.
3rd class form makes his arrows drill into tatgets they hit and stay there. If used together with his 5th, then whatever they hit is sent allow the arrow's path until reaching his bow. If used with his 4th, they dispel any ongoing buffs and debuffs from people they hit.
2nd class mass fires arrows in a circle along a flat plane. With his normal bow this immediately hits himself, since there's literally no way to fire it without arrows hitting his own hands in the process. When used at the same time as his 6th, it flings the sword through the air where it fires arrows in completely random directions until crashing into something.
1st class is the same sword as his 6th, but now it uses his normal OS and isn't as heavy.
Blood Drive; Drown in the blood of make-believe.
I definitely failed to communicate my actual intentions with Ren's applications.
It's not exactly a secret that Ren was designed as a counterpart to Akio, and I guess that shows in how they both have underpowered releases.
Well, Akasawa's has single-digit OS and speed. That's the drawback of his release. And it needed that because it creates an infinite supply of matter for no reiatsu cost, and those creations persist indefinitely, even after the release itself ends.
Nothing it creates will ever fade away, even long after he's gone. Mainly because I was being a bit blunt with the symbolism at the time.
Loss of identity, blurring the boundaries of self and other, knights as an ideal, drowning in fake blood...
Oh right, I never put in on his profile why Blood Drive was named. The drive in the name refers to a computer storage drive, it's a databank that takes small samples and then overflows. The reason I originally wanted it to only work on any person once is because once it has the data it wants there's no reason to take more of the same.
As for what that databank does? Well, it's looking for a certain kind of people.
■■■■■ Lion, pale and starven ■■■■■
I want to lean into the primal theme with Hidromielleón's profile, but I'm afraid I'm overdoing it right now. Also might change their first name, haven't been sure how well it flows.
Disempowering my characters is something I usually do when I'm filling in for word-count. It feels like the most natural option in general, since I'm uncomfortable starting a character with any kind of power without going out of my way to devalue it in favor of what they earn through interaction
{Spoiler}{The Known Unknowns} While Hidromielleón's future evolution as a hollow is impossible to know, mainly because I don't know what kind of scenes he's going to be in, or who he'll interact with between creation and reaching those classes...
Here are some potential futures for my amber eyed lion.
GILLIAN - His mask now bears a pale orange stripe runs horizontally across the bridge of his nose, and his signature fangs have enlarged. Not quite as starved looking, he's grown ash-colored armor plates.
As a true gillian, Hidromielleón has grown bone-like armor plates around his front paws, collarbone, and sides.
A large cloak-like mass extends from his mane,
While able to switch his gait between standing on all-fours or two legs, he finds the former more comfortable.
His tail splits into two upon reaching the final third of its length.
ADJUCHAS - Several overly-long locks of fur extend from his mane, merging to an form organic 'scarf' from the back of the hollow's neck.
Four large detached structures float above the lion's back.
VASTO -
ARRANCAR - Arrancar are meant to resemble humans, which raises serious questions as to why Hidromielleón is still a lion. An anthropomorphic lion with amber eyes and fur the tone of polished brass, but still a far cry from what would be found under a conventional hollow's mask. He wears a heavily modified arrancar uniform, with a hood pulled up to cover his inhuman face.
Despite his size and heavyset frame, the primordial hollow is highly agile and is capable of great speed. His body is designed for rapid sprinting and pouncing, and will very quickly close the distance to an identified mark. Hidromielleón carries no ranged weapons, but their speed and ferocious melee attacks effectively compensate for this. However, they are highly vulnerable to weapons that utilize fire. Their attacks center on lunging with violent claw slashes and bites, giving enemies little time to retaliate. Here are some potential futures for my amber eyed lion.

An anthropomorphic lion with amber eyes and fur the tone of polished brass, but still a far cry from what would be found under a conventional hollow's mask. He wears a heavily modified arrancar uniform, with a hood pulled up to cover his inhuman face.
Hidromielleón's way of fighting is a brutal thing, the leonine hollow's fangs and claws taking center stage when his roles as hunter and assassin call for them. Keeping up an aggressive pace with a focus on powerful maiming strikes, focusing on disabling his opponent with crippling wounds, keeping himself protected with minimalist evasion and low-effort parrying until they bleed out or can no longer resist.
As both of those roles imply, he's an ambush predator at heart. Preferring to stalk his intended mark for a time before engaging in battle, keeping a safe distance and relying on camouflage until presented with an opportunity to overwhelm them with a sudden pounce.
The core aspect of the lion's arsenal is taking advantage of the hollow step technique's dimension-walking nature. Most prominently by biting into an opponent's limb before stepping with ulcera, dragging the hapless victim along for the ride as he stalks through the valley of screams. Cutting them off from any allies or favorable battlefield conditions as he forces them into a new position. Even without a hostage in tow, the ability to step through walls and enemies means he can surface into reality to deliver unforeseen strikes from otherwise impossible angles. The same qualities that make it a terrifying offensive tool, also make it his go-to method of escape when needed, allowing him to disappear as suddenly as he arrived, even with a meal or prisoner clutched in his jaws.
Stalking his intended mark from a distance, not just waiting for an opening, but thinking over the situation, taking in every scrap of information he can and judging
Against those who can't fight back, such smaller hollows or baseline plus souls, he prefers to wrap his jaws around their neck during this initial struggle, avoiding a drawn-out fight by crushing the victim's throat. In a more serious fight, he instead prefers to wear the opponent down with wounds that eat away at their ability to fight back, most often using his fangs to cut deep gouges and stepping away, content to stay out of reach while the slowly bleeds away. If not given the time to wait for blood loss to take its toll, then he must turn to biting, attempting to crush a limb in his jaws and directly cripple the ability to fight back.
If he has the time and resources to prepare before the battle, he'll even set traps intended to
When in melee, keeps his forelimbs free to swipe or grapple, weight concentrated on his hind legs for stability.
Ideally stalking his way into striking distance without being noticed. By combining his initial pounce with Ulcera, he can open a battle with a crushing bite even from total concealment.
His usual tactics against those who favor ranged attacks are simple, getting close and keeping up a constant assault.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
On the defensive, he always puts evading and low-impact parrying above outright blocking. The latter of those can still allow all sorts of nasty effects to take place, which he's lived long enough to know are usually worse than the consequences devoting himself to full evasion.
In addition, his manipulative streak can easily be turned towards envisioning the more effective ways to hurt someone, an activity he's more talented at than he feels comfortable with.
A good deal of any battle consists of playing with his opponent, not only wounding their body, but stalking their heart, he has to satisfy his everyday manipulative impulses and irrepressible hunting instincts before he feels it necessary to finish his prey off.
The greatest flaw in Hidromielleón's style is his temperament. Often letting emotions sway his tactics.
When given clear advantage in a battle, he allows himself to show off. The leonine hollow making a spectacle of finishing off his opponents with refined techniques.
When provoked, he lashes out.
{Spoiler}{A hollow history}Birth and early life in Las Noches. This is his Silver Indomitable arc. Nothing can really touch the young Hidromielleón, the lion cub is to strong for his own good, and his flaws really can't hurt him at all.
Quest one is how he lives with being a hollow lion cub. How does he live with being a childish predator in a city of vicious monster people?
Quest two explores his obsession with the Fourth Hollow King. He gets time to focus on his arrancar sibling, to seek closeness.
Quest three forces an impossible situation on him, he has to actually crack under pressure.
Quest four is darkly supernatural and brooding. Something that seems strange and unnatural even for Las Noches.
Quest five is answers and closure.
Second arc is his Green Called Away? Death of his dear father/brother, King Haskell Ulfhirthirr, and the time he spent lost afterwards.
Quest one is where dreams and otherworldly experiences connect him to external power. He's banished from the sands to the mortal realm, he's been here before but never alone and is haunted by memories of his other half.
Quest two shows that the path he's on scares and burdens him. He's afraid of taking up the legacy of house Ulfhirthirr, but he has to.
Quest three, something is devouring him from inside, threatening to take over. The cracks is his soul where the connection to his brother king went are filling up with the substance of the mortal world.
Quest four, he's lost to himself, he isn't himself anymore. The corruption changes him, he's less the noble tyrant lion cub who belongs in the sands, more the gaunt and twitchy beast that stalks humanity out of twisted love.
Quest five, reconciling with what he'd been fighting. He manages to come to an understanding with the new parts of his soul, to be equally of the sands and the wilds.
Red Creature of Fable next, he's grown up from a cub to a full hunter, and so he goes a bit overboard with his self-styled new life.
Quest one is finding something exciting or interesting. Worthy prey in this case, his nemesis that will return later in play.
Quest two is being determined to do things his way. That means treating his worthy prey the way his fanatical beliefs say to.
Quest three is getting lost and confused. His prey evades him, won't play along with his rules, he can't understand their way of "playing".
Quest four is to transcend, be above it all. He wins has his glorious moment as apex predator. The nemesis is caught, but survives.
Quest five is the katabasis. He goes back to Ulfhirthirr's grave and leaves some offerings, rests beside it, and generally ends act three having established his own legend.
That makes Black Prophet the last arc of his backstory. The world has moved on. He's re-joined Las Noches as an Exequias during the reign of king Cho.
Quest one is a time of omens that leads up to a miracle. While adjusting to life in the city again, he keeps getting little hints something is off. This leads up the miracle of surviving his first
Quest two is a tempter luring him from the path. His shinigami worthy prey from the red arc comes back and tries to talk him out of serving
Quest three is rough times and more confusion. Azeru Cho's war hits hard for Ljonihrafn.
Quest four is losing the path through confusion and strife. Ulfhirthirr's shinigami nemesis returns and manages to defeat or seal him.
Quest five is making a new miracle for himself. Achieving something for himself and getting to live into the Kouhai regime.

Hidromielleón constructs unique and horrifying items from fossilized scraps of soul and identity he creates using his overall ability, implanting them into frames made from the bodies of hollows, plants grown in reishi-dense habitats, and rare spiritual beasts. Using primitive yet effective methods to preserve the spiritual properties of materials and shape them to fit the finished product.
■■■■■ Build Ecosystem ■■■■■
Oooo, good question. I'll confirm with the rest of staff, but my position would be that you should not be able to take a type change that will result in that unless you take care of the problematic techniques first.
However part of it is that the balance of the site relies on the different offensive Stats having their own "niche" in the player ecosystem.
Spirit pressure builds give you lots of reiatsu to use, at the cost that you're very heavily restricted to your release and can't use physical combat as well.
Reiatsu strength builds give you a ton of flexibility and potency with almost every technique available to your race on-site, barring those with particular limitations. However they suffer from similar physical combat restrictions as the spirit pressure based builds.
Strength builds are the dominant builds for physical combat, but suffer in having more limited releases and ability to use non-physical techniques.

Fighting Style: "I couldn't do that before I burnt myself on a monster, and then a planet."
[The basic explanation of Akio's fighting style is that he doesn't have one, but has still somehow cobbled together a series of unrelated skills into an equivalent in a short amount of time. Though at the end of everything, it hasn't ever been put to use, and runs on unrealistic principles in several places, so it can simply be said he fails the basic test of having a style, and will not until he experiences the necessary hardships to act as a catalyst for a new one.
Knowing he's lacking compared to most opponents, he would take a more defensive role in any battle. In the old days, immediately after his ability was lost, that would have meant intercepting imagined attacks with his arms, and prioritizing running away over any actual fighting. Though it's unlikely he'd have the luxury of doing so in every battle, which was another factor that led him to avoid fighting altogether.
In his high-school days, when he still had his original ability, he had a sort of instinctive swordsmanship. A simple method, where he attacked with thrusts from the sword in his left hand, while keeping his right arm free to defend with an 'implied shield' style, deflecting blows with the forearm. Though in truth, he still has the fundamentals of this style in his memory, his lack of practice means that the more refined techniques have mostly faded away.
His archery, while kept in practice as a hobby as this time, has only ever been target shooting. Though if he were to carry a physical bow into battle somehow, he would have used his arrows to support others, aiming for the legs of an enemy to slow them for an ally, for instance.
While his preferred tactics are dependent on weapons to fight, such as bows, swords, or even simple gloves, he hasn't acquired any spiritual items to fulfill those roles just yet, and has no formal training in the spiritual arts. Though that doesn't mean he's completely without defenses, teaching himself a sort of primitive geomancy, known as Fuusuishi Arts, entirely from written accounts. And the most functional techniques of those arts can now be considered his main means of spiritual attack, which he intends to use as a finishing blow on any opponents who wear themselves out against his defenses.
Even with his recent Quincification, he still has no means of catching up with a released opponent. Though he doesn't care for anyone or anything that strong to begin with, so he's had no real reason to plan about things like that so far. This further reinforces his preference for avoiding or escaping needless combat, as many enemies are simply beyond his ability to keep up with.]
Character Name: [Akio Naito]
New Ideals/Personality:
New Appearance: [
A permanent fixture of his outfits is a severely burnt bangle.
The inner side, free of the severe burn damage that mars its outer face, is etched along the inner side with a small message signed with a cross.]
New History:
New Fighting Style: "Please, just consider me a harmless mystic."
[Physically and spiritually unimpressive, Akio has no talent for direct combat.
His greatest talents are found in the art of spell construction, having developed his own line of spells that draw reishi from nature and give it shape.
He attempts to keep his enemies at a distance, .
While released, Akio gains considerable raw power, initially by
then by slowly reinforcing his body with reishi
His bow form lowers his combat ability below that of his unreleased self, as the sword it creates is only ceremonial. It cannot cut, and is too fragile to stand up to most other release weapons
Ren is a pure strength build. Doesn't really have a choice about that. As a failure, he doesn't have a release, and can't use spiritual techniques either.

Rank 4: 150% increase to physical Stats. (100 would be 250)
Disadvantage: Drawback for all Ranks: No Kidō can exist for the user, nor can any magical spells. Stepping techniques can still be used, but nothing beyond that. No Hadō, Bakudō, or Kaidō. No Bala, Cero, etc. Fullbringers can use their racial basic Soul Command, but no techniques that expand upon it. Remove 25% from one Spiritual Stat. Spiritual Pressure can only go up to 150 after Type and Healing Expertise and Energy Sensory can both only go up to 50.
Character Name: [Ren Akasawa]
New Fighting Style: [If any. Insert new stats here if this is a stat update.]
Already viewing himself as a tragic wandering knight; Ren cannot help but place himself in the role of a swordsman. Almost literally, as he has little interest in spiritual techniques, and cannot use his flood in battle. Leaving only melee combat to carry him through his road of trials.
The self-titled wolkenritter relies entirely on purchased weapons. He has to, as he has literally no other means of attack.
He lacks ranged attacks beyond throwing whatever happens to be on hand.

What kind of update: [Type change]
Rank 1: 35% increase to one Physical Stat and one Spiritual Stat (100 would be 135). It takes 50% more Spiritual Pressure than normal for a Fighter to suffer cutback (instead of 150 Spiritual Pressure disadvantage causing cutback, it would require a 225 Spiritual Pressure difference).
25% decrease to the Physical and Spiritual Stats that were not increased (if Strength and Reiatsu Strength were increased, then Speed and Spiritual Pressure will be decreased. 100 would be 75). Reiatsu-based abilities are lost: Kidō, Cero, Bala, etc. Fullbringers can use their racial basic Soul Command, but no techniques that expand upon it. Fighters are unable to make non-martial or non-weapon techniques. Characters with this Type are limited to a 0 in Healing Expertise and a 50 in Energy Sensory.

An idealist still seeking to find himself, Kōyōmiya is terrifyingly fluid as his sense of identity shifts from day-to-day, from interaction-to-interaction, and from thought-to-thought. That mutable core is kept from running rampant by a series of anchors he can fall back on when unsure of his own heart, of which the heaviest and most stable are his obligations to his family and gotei, alongside a strong moral sense that . Though lesser anchors can and do come and go with time. Where he isn't bound by those anchors, he's charming and a small touch flirtatious, making new friends easily in the short term but rarely maintaining any lasting bonds with others as the connections he makes fray just as easily. As fluids naturally take the shape of their container, Kōyōmiya strives to be a model member of his division.
Raijukyo is a lightning-type zanpakutou embodying thunderclouds that house and shelter lightning. Rather than directly firing bolts as many zanpakutou of its type would, it converts reiatsu into threads of hardened lightning that attract water vapor from their surroundings and bind it together to create clouds. Initially presenting as a dark cumulus, fluffy and insubstantial, the murky depths of each cloud conceal bright filaments primed to shock, shred, and entangle any adversary who would force their way through. This nature is reflected on a larger scale with stormclouds melding into a storm that conceals and shields Kōyōmiya
do for the fulminating bolts they contain.
Techniques expand this command over storms,
Raijukyo's "stormclouds" are semisolid constructs that are deceptively soft.
around fine strands of solid lightning, moving through them
As they're made with his own reiatsu,
woven with water from the atmosphere to create miniature stormclouds.
Only Kōyōmiya is capable of moving through the clouds safely, as the cleaving lightning strands are formed from his own reiatsu.
The shikai name, meaning "thunder beast mirror", links the classical Japanese portrayal of lightning as a type of animalistic spirit with the idea of a mirror that acts as the physical body for a spirit or god, forming a poetic description of the clouds that house and protect Kōyōmiya's lightning-based techniques.
The beginning release creates and manipulates semi-solid miniature stormclouds by binding water vapor together with fine strings of lightning-natured reiatsu.
The bankai name Raiuniro Shinjukyo, literally "thundercloud-colored divine beast mirror," references a historical type of bronze mirror that projects an image of a deity or beast when used to reflect strong light. Implying that the zanpakutou itself is the mirror, and the lightning it releases is the reflected light.

A sudden burst of humidity emanates from Raijukyo as both sword and scabbard dissolve into cold, dark storm clouds that condense to form an oversized tsurugi hewn from white jade marbled with sunset veins of warm pink and soft yellow, alongside six flying magatama beads, each hand-length carved from the same material.
Raijukyo's resemblance to the imperial regalia of Japan is merely a reflection of the Shihōin clan's true purpose as the guardians of sacred treasures.
