“You’ve failed to grasp lesson within those whose blood you share. You’ve allowed me to die Miranda, and then you allowed them to kill you. The ground is stained with unneeded blood. You sadden me, Miranda dear.” Miranda fell yet again back into her deep sleep, her deepest memories dug up once more in its twisted nature. Her heart pumped in her ear, drowning out the thunder of gunfire and screams that enveloped her. Immense exhaustion weighed down upon her shoulders forcing her trembling legs to their knees. Frost struggled to stand but her body ultimately failed to obey her.
“You are so close, child. Although you cannot see me or recognize my voice, you can still understand the words I speak.” The voice flowed through her being effortlessly. Frost wanted to respond but found she couldn’t. She could only watch idly by as an unknown voice chastised her. Frost’s eyes glanced about the dark, featureless void she existed within. The presence was near, but the exact location was not discernable. The voice originated from nowhere yet everywhere. “For this, you make me proud.” It was at that moment the location of the voice became much clearer. It existed before her, Frost could feel it.
And then as the figure of the voice came into view, Miranda’s vision blurred. The aching exhaustion in her bones ebbed away until she felt nothing. Her eyes drooped closed, leaving this spirit’s identity a mystery. “... Another entity calls for you, and I cannot refuse its summons. We will continue this when you return until then sleep and rest. I fear you may need it.” The voice trailed off until all Frost heard was the emptiness of the void. Her body fell unconscious and her spirit was ejected from her inner world.
Who knows how long she drifted through her sleep, not that it mattered. Her eyes creaked open. No longer was her body sitting by the stream outside her home district in the rukongai. She sat within the darkened room in a place foreign to her. The smell wasn’t as clean and the air lacked a certain quality. She felt colder than she was used to. Her steel grey eyes flicked to and fro, gaining a bearing on her surroundings. The room seemed to be a residential suite of some sort, but none she was familiar with. “Where am I?”
She stood, her joints popping as they moved from their crossed position. How long had she been sitting there? Frost turned to the large window overlooking an expansive city larger than she could imagine. Was she in the world of the living? Her hands pressed against the glass, her eyes widening with amazement over the busy city. There were so many lights and the buildings were so tall. She had heard about these buildings, these towers that were so generous in height that they could touch the sky. Skyscrapers she heard them called. “This is… amazing.”

Within the depths of the Soul Society, was a young woman training within the grounds. This was nothing new for those who knew Celes. She was a 'scholarly' individual who believed in her art of the sword. She wished to master it, but she was only a whelping. Still not having created her Zanpakutou, instead wielding an Asauchi, Celes was frequently training to try and imprint her own spirit more quickly upon the blade. She did not mean to rush, instead spending every waking moment with her blade.
The strikes of her sword came quick. From the left to the right. Some of this was practice while others were reinforcement for her blade skills. Upon attempting her next swing, Celes felt an odd sensation overcome her. She felt almost frozen for a split second as the world around her began to melt. What made this sensation particularly odd is that she couldn't be asleep. All of the signs were pointing against it, but nonetheless, Celes remained frozen in place per say.
The quick melting of the world provided a real scare to Celes and she closed her eyes for a split second. Soon all she saw was darkness. One of the most sureal events to ever overcome her. With a quick motion, her head fell as appeared to have blacked out. As this happened, the world itself began to rebuild itself again. Gentle blue skies, white clouds to decorate the sky as well as tall skyscrapers that almost seemed to stretch into space.
Celes found herself waking up on the floor. The floor was not concrete, but more akin to that of a room. She felt groggy as she shook her head quickly. When she looked around, all she saw were more people. The only one she could make out as of right now was a fellow Shinigami. She had never met this one before and blinked rapidly at the woman. She gripped her head and sat up, sitting on her knees. Shaking her head one more time cleared it up for her.
As she looked at Miranda, she admired the beautiful Shinigami. She appeared to be quite the gorgeous woman, but Celes had learned to never let appearances get in the way as this woman could very well be despicable. She watched her lean against the glass, causing Celes to stand up at her and begin to walk towards the glass as well. She placed her hand against the glass, feeling it to be a pure solid. Nothing seemed wrong here.
Now as Celes looked over at Miranda to speak to her, she froze for a moment. Celes saw a strange black cube adorn the center of the room as she couldn't help, but blink. The busy streets didn't even interest her that much as all she could do was focus on this oh so strange box. Finally looking at Miranda in full, she spoke in a soft voice. "What a strange set of events...to place us here? I was just practicing my swordsmanship skills within the training grounds until I am suddenly transported here." Celes smiled and bowed. "Do forgive me. Celes Shindazu. Soul Reaper in training."

It was an average living room apartment in New York city with light tan color wood flooring or rather it looked wooden yet it was actually simply vinal. Inside the room one shinigami began to appear like she was coming from a fax machine as her head began to appear first then followed by the rest of her body. Only a few moments after she had woken up did another shinigami begin to appear in the same way the only difference being that this second shinigami was awake while she was being pulled into the world of the living from Soul Society. She wouldn't really notice as she tried to move her body as she appeared from her training yet didn't feel like she could move. It wouldn't be until her arm appeared that it carried through the slash that she had been practicing and would cut the back of the white hair shinigami's right elbow as she pressed herself against the glass.
Although it was a mistake and not her fault at all the white haired shinigami would feel the harsh sting as Celes's blade dug against the skin over her elbow slicing it apart causing blood to slip through the wound and a rather deep gash against her bone. It wasn't clear what was happening or how they had gotten here or even why, but already one of them was hurt which wasn't good. After everything was cleared up and the two shinigami would introduce themselves as well as settle what had just happened between them they would begin to see that two other entities were starting to appear in the room. One was a large man with a shoulder length dark hair and the appearance of a smooth talker. The other looked like some sort of businessman that was scared out of his mind.
Just like that there would be four spiritual entities inside the apartment room in the city that never sleeps.
"Who are your people? Where am I? What's going on?"
The businessman was panicking as he broke into a red sweat of terror while he backed away from everyone else in the room. He was asking all the same questions that the others were likely thinking throughout their heads. The only problem was that no one else knew the answers. The one shinigami though had the right idea moving her attention towards the large black box in the center of the apartment.
After the next few moments the black box would send out what looked like a hologram made of light that it was projecting into the middle of the room. The hologram didn't take the form of an entity, but instead those of words. "You're lives are now at my disposal. Complete the assignment and you may return." What appeared next was the face of a Beast made from the hologram. This Beast didn't look like a threat at all it was small and seemed to be some sort of mammal. Beneath it's face were the words. "Weak yet fast, kill it quickly."

Miranda didn’t know how long she was staring outside the window, taking in the beautiful lights that came to and fro beneath them. It was then another being popped into existence in the room, and unfortunately, Frost didn’t sense it before that person’s blade sliced across her elbow cleanly. Had it not been for the cool temperature of the room rushing into the fresh wound sending a dull sensation down her arm, she would not have known. Miranda’s left arm reached to grasp at her right elbow, her digits sliding over the open gash, her fingertips wetted by the warmth of her own blood.
“Oh my! I’m so sorry, I didn’t know that I wo-” A worried voice behind Miranda frantically stammered. Miranda refused to look at the wound the woman had wrought. The sight of blood never did help to keep her calm. She turned, her hand dropping to the hilt of her own blade, the screeching sound of rusted blade against the tight scabbard emanating across the room. She cut at the lower portion of her uniform, cutting a long strip from it. Quickly she slammed the blade back into its hilt, her hand wrapping her new makeshift bandage around the fresh wound. “Just… please be ok. I don’t want anyone to suffer due to my silly mistakes…”
Miranda sighed and relaxed. Her body still trembled at the sight of her own blood, but her anxiety had already diminished. She worked up the best smile she could and stepped forward, placing a reassuring hand upon the other woman’s shoulder. “Mistakes happen. This one… i’ll just have a scar to remind me of.” She laughed heartily, patting at the woman’s shoulder. “The name’s Miranda Frost, unseated of Squad 10. Pleasure to meet you.” Miranda’s steel grey eyes glanced over her, now having the opportunity to see the one who’d caught her unawares. She wore the garb of one still in the academy. Given the cleanness of her cut, she was either a quick learner or nearing the end of her training. She certainly was quite the looker from what Miranda could see in this dimly lit room. Frost couldn’t hold a grudge against her.
That being said, this trainee, this recruit, wouldn’t be the presence that had summoned them. Miranda sidestepped around her, her eyes falling upon the black box centered on the room. “What.. is this..”, she thought aloud, approaching the mysterious object. As she knelt by it the other two men would be summoned though these seemed to be human in nature. One of them took the strange occurrence of teleportation quite nicely the other… lost his shit. They could see them. If they could see them it's likely they held some sort of strength. Her eyes narrowed at the man, before returning to the projections the box created.
No sound was made, only what Miranda could surmise as text. She already had trouble reading as it were, but it seemed to not stay on one string of text for too long before showing the picture of some kind of animal. Having lived on the outskirts of the rukongai next to the wilds, Frost had encountered a wide array of creatures both feral and those belonging to the various beastclans, but for some reason, she couldn’t recognize this… thing. It had fur, but that didn’t quite help. She felt as if she should. It looked familiar, but the name was for some reason blocked from her mind. A side effect from being brought here by this stupid box? Maybe. She didn’t even understand what it was trying to tell her.
Frowning, she’d stand up and step back. “I don’t know what it's trying to say, but… maybe we should take it with us. The science kooks would have a field day with this one… er, what’s your name again, miss?”
(with Celes's permission, used her dialogue in my post, if only to smooth over what happened in the posts prior)

Celes was looking around as two men suddenly appeared. It was an odd experience especially due to the fact that she had just cut Miranda?! Wait what? Her mind was in fragments. She never wanted to hurt anyone and this now made her feel bad. She looked at Miranda with fear as the fellow Shinigami calmed her down. Her hand on Celes' shoulder really did soothe her as Miranda did not seem in too much shock about this.
Directing her attention to a message that seemed to be broadcasted, she began to inspect the meaning. A small creature that seemed easy to kill, but was quick. What was this? A test? Celes sighed and looked upon the creature. It was indeed small and seemed rather harmless, but regardless, it seemed as if Celes needed to comply with this naturally. Would it really let them go if they completed all the tasks. Celes was determined to find out.
The young Shinigami unsheathed her Asauchi, curious of the nature of this creature. With her hand stretched out, Celes pointed her finger at that creature. She then proceeded to quietly talk to herself, barely above a whisper. "Arise god of thunder! Awake mother of storms! Unleash the lighting on the sinners!" Then finally a mental note, "Hado #4, Byakurai" This unleashed a stream of electricity, headed directly for the box.
The Kido moved remarkably fast, the incantation increased it's strength minorly, but any amount of extra power packed behind a Kido was good enough for Celes. She had a faint smile as the hoped that the box was immobile. The group would soon find out as Celes just decided to go with the preemptive maneuver, trying to complete these tasks quickly. It was interesting to see how the box would react to an attack as the creature produced from it was a hologram.
Technique Description and Effects: The user fires a concentrated, powerful lightning bolt from their finger that pierces a target.
How to use technique: Speak the spell and point hand at the target.
Incantation and Effect: "Arise god of thunder! Awake mother of storms! Unleash the lighting on the sinners!" When the incantation is spoken, the Reiatsu Strength used to determine the power of Byakurai is increased by 10%. (i.e. 100 Reiatsu Strength is treated as 110.)

Little did the shinigami know that what they were doing right now wasn't the first time and like virtually all new individuals brought before the box they didn't have any sort of interest in what it was telling them. In fact they were basically ignoring what it had said despite telling them that it would return them once they completed what it wanted from them. Frost brought up the idea of taking the box back to Soul Society yet if she actually tried to lift the box she'd find it wouldn't budge nor would a Senkimon Gate actually open. In fact no sort of portal ability to another dimension would work right now. Despite being both Shinigami if a Hollow had been summoned alongside them perhaps they'd realize it faster when a garganta wouldn't open. It mattered very little though as Celes tried to attack the box.
Although she cast the incantation perfectly and took her time the lightning bolt that was cast from her finger tips would strike the box only to dance across it's surface until it looked like the box was playing with the lightning and then just like that it would reflect it back striking Celes in her chest. Luckily the lightning had been altered somehow! Instead of piercing through her body the electricity simply would shock her with her own power. It would hurt, but it wouldn't be enough to harm her seriously beyond causing minor burns on her chest and stinging across her body for the next few minutes. One thing was obvious now though; don't attack the box!
Both of the human males were simply looking back and forth from the box to Celes now the businessman scared beyond belief while the other continued to stand stoic and stern. "What're you thinking! IT could have killed you!" Frantically the businessman paced around the room in front of the box mumbling to himself now. "You three can keep acting like idiots all you want, but it seems this box wants us to simply kill that creature. I intend on living my own life so once that's done it's done." Almost as if on cue everyone would begin to disappear once again just like how they had been brought to the apartment room. After a few moments everyone would be in a new location together and they'd all see that they were in Central Park!
It was now up to them to find the little fur ball creature that the box wanted killed. Frost having the best ability to sense reiatsu would pick up a faint signature in the park to their right yet she would't be able to pin point it. Celes even less so would be able to feel the faint signature yet wouldn't be able to tell it's location. It was clear though that the box had actually brought them to the location of the creature. Perhaps this was going to be easier than anyone of them had assumed. It mattered very little though as the stoic human began to walk towards the direction of the creature. Perhaps his ability to sense reiatsu was more than Frost or maybe he could find it some other way it wasn't clear. What would the two shinigami do now though.

Frost’s question was answered by the all to familiar arc of lightning, Byakurai. The bluish bolt rocketed past Frost face and harmlessly collided with the black box. Before Frost could react the box redirected it back at the shinigami-in-training, singing the pristine, untested robes of the recruit. Miranda was on her feet and moved to support her comrade in case the attack was enough to throw the woman off balance. She looked to the others, the collected one translating what the box had said for her.
The picture itself was a strange creature. It seemed small in nature, with just the most adorable face, but it seemed they would have no choice but to do what the box wanted and kill the creature, at least for the time being. As they were transported to another place seemingly within the same city as the apartment they had inhabited prior. She let the recruit go, silently patting her reassuringly on the back while she moved ahead of the impatient, but calm man.
Frost's hand would close around the recruit, tugging her along. She was a student still, meaning Frost would be responsible for her well being. She wouldn't let her leave her sight so easily.“Wait for us at least.”, she sighed and bowed her head politely. There was no rush, not yet. She could feel the presence they needed to find. It didn’t seem to be moving all to much. “We should stick together for the time being” She’d walk off towards the presence before glancing back at the group. “The name’s Frost. What are yours?”

The young Shinigami was quite suprised as her arc of electricity suddenly rebounded. As it hit the box and quickly traveled backwards she had, but a moment to brace herself. It ended with her stumbling, but thankfully being caught by the other Shinigami. It did leave a nasty burn mark on her robe and as she felt a certain discomfort, she realized that there was slight inflammation of the flesh below. Nothing severe, it was pretty minor actually.
She looked up at Miranda who seemed to be so careful of Celes, making sure she was ok. Something about this touched Celes as she blushed moreso out of being in the embrace of someone else. She quickly stood up and coughed a bit. "M..My apologies, Miss Miranda." As she felt herself be dragged along by the more experienced Shinigami. Once again, that same warm feeling emanated throughout her body. Not romance, but trust.
Celes shook a bit from the jolt and slight pain that the byakurai delivered to her. She mainly tried to stay resilient, not trying to show any form of pain. However, now as she was being dragged along, she did not quite know where they were going. She could not sense reiatsu as well as the others she was guessing. In fact, she could not sense much at all right now. That being the case, Celes just remained silent and followed closely behind Miranda.

The small group of spiritual aware individuals that had been gathered and brought to central park traveled through the fairly large rectangle of nature that lived in the heart of the urban jungle. It would take several minutes at a walking pace to reach the location where the humans and Frost were able to sense the reiatsu of another entity which they all assumed was simply the creature they were looking for. Around them was simply a few trees off about thirty feet and then a gazebo that was fairly big and had some benches on the inside around the edges. They would be able to feel that the creature was somewhere around here yet none of them was good enough with sensing reiatsu that they could pin point it.
"Well this is just great we can't even find the thing let alone know if we can kill it . . .or even if we should. I mean really guys why are we listening to some strange box. Is it really right of us to kill something we know nothing about. This thing can't be doing anything bad this is New York City. If it was doing anything bad we would have all heard about something." The scared little human just kept on talking wishing that he wasn't in this situation. Almost as if on cue though they would all hear the sound of metal moving. Over to the right of the group was a metal grate that led downwards likely to a subway tunnel or water treatment area. Whatever the case the grate was pushed open and out walked the little creature a big smile across its face as its little hands rubbed together. Not wasting any time the larger human that was of little words began to walk over towards the creature and it was clear based on his manner and aura that he was going to simply kill the little thing. Would the shinigami go along with him or would they side with the other human and spare the creature while also going against the box.

Miranda followed the man with the more sturdy demeanor with slight suspicion. The other was a babbling fool but the unseated member could at least understand the gravity of being warped through space and time to a place without any context of what was going on. On many minds, she could imagine it having quite the adverse effect. Nothing could be said about his level of annoyance. Miranda glanced back at the academy student that trailed her closely if only to distract herself from the two human’s antics. They were in a situation neither of the two could have possibly prepared for but, for better or for worst, Miranda would be this student’s shield.
As they continued along they were brought to the being they had sensed prior. The little creature appeared innocently enough, but something felt off about what was happening. Animals were a different breed from sentient folk. They were driven by need and instinct. Clearly, the man approached with fatal intent, but the creature just sat there waiting for it. Miranda’s hand reached for the hilt of her blade and drew it, pressing it lightly to the human’s back. [font color=cyan“Think before you act. Don’t you believe any of this is strange to you?"[/font] She warned. She wouldn’t want to have to use force to keep the human from doing something they were all going to regret. “Look at it. Its almost as if it wants you to kill it. Smells like a trap. I agree with the rambling one, but only because of the strangeness of this whole ordeal. “
“Stop. We shouldn’t be blindly leaping into something we don’t understand. Make one more move and you will regret it.”. Miranda put more pressure on the blade, reaffirming her intentions. From her grip a finger would extend, pointing at the man’s back. She preferred to have more than one avenue to accomplish a goal. Whatever would be thrown her way, she’d do well to steel herself for it.

Celes followed the seemingly more experienced spiritually aware individuals as she looked from side to side, surveying the area around them. Once again, the only thing that seemed to remain besides them was this creature that they were supposedly supposed to kill. Unsure of what to do especially after her Kido had failed, the girl was at a loss of words, the burn from earlier still stinging a bit.
Then it suddenly came. Almost as though it were more clockwork, more violence broke out as Miranda suddenly drew her sword and pointed it at the man. Celes was unsure of how to react to this. For one, Miranda was the closest thing she had a to a superior here as a Shinigami in training. Even moreso, she was not entirely sure of what to do. All she could do is steel herself behind Miranda as she began to say. "Further violence is not going to get us anywhere if we can't seem to even know where we are. For now, it may be wise to follow the instructions we were given since it's our only lead."

The human man was basically rushing the small animal looking creature when he felt the zanpakuto pressed to his back. He stopped immediately yet his emotions were now all being crushed beneath the weight of his rage. This Shinigami was actually trying to stop her when all of them were in the same group and all of them had been told to kill this thing so they could go home.
"I don't care if it's just sitting there the fact is that we were told to kill it by something that can bring us where it wants us. It was able to reflect your friends spell which means that it's likely powerful enough that none of us can do anything to it. I'd rather deal with this thing here and now then deal with that box." The man was speaking in a red rage now and the little creature had fear on its features and began to run in the opposite direction.
"Can't you get this through your dense head. Even she agrees that doing what we were told is in our best interest. God damn it now see what you've done it's getting away. Unless you plan on using that sword on the creature PUT IT AWAY!" The man screamed causing the other human to jump in freight. This was all far to scary for him he just wanted to go home he always ignored and ran away from the spiritual and now he didn't have that option.
Whatever they had been feeling or thinking was cut for a moment as everyone in the group suddenly saw the black box in their mind. Something was different though on the black box was a little blue screen . . . that was counting DOWN! They were on a timer and it only had half an hour left. What was going to happen when it got down to zero?

What was Miranda supposed to do? She was yanked from a familiar place and dumped into someplace so foreign in the span of mere moments. Hell, it could have been instantaneously. Frost gritted her teeth and tightened her grip on the blade. Even worse, she was summoned by something as simple as a box, an artifact of unknown power. This box was ordering her, a member, no, a soldier of the Gotei 13 to such a task with no reason or explanation to the order. It was an ultimatum, and it infuriated her.
Her eyes flicked to the shinigami-in-training, Celes at her suggestion. Miranda could feel the fires of rage building in her chest, but she bit her tongue. How could she blame the girl? It could be very tempting to answer one’s captor’s demands, especially when faced with something such as this. Miranda had been trained in situations such as this, but the outlook is grim. They are in a place with no way to contact home and no way to return there. They are stuck in the world of the living. The human’s words, as angry as it made her, made sense as well, but it didn’t resonate with her.
Her blade lowered but remained in her clutches. “Have you no backbone?”, her voice carried soft but stern. “I am a soldier. My honor and my integrity are the cornerstones to my way of life. sure, I stumble at times, but who doesn’t?” She sighed and pressed the tip of her blade into the soil beneath her feet. “Discard your own dignity on the whims of a silly box, but I abide by the orders of those above me and only them.” She turned to face the trainee, both of her hands falling to the pommel of her blade.
“The path of a soldier is a tough one, with tough decisions. There is no guarantee that thing will even let us go”, Her breathing slowed and calmed. She tried to remove the bitterness from her voice, but snippets of contempt of this situation flowed forth, intertwining with each syllyble. “Our captor will have nothing of me. If it is so powerful, then it can deal with this creature itself.” She turned her head back to the two humans, in particular, the confident, boisterous one. “And you. You’re willing to toss your spine out into the street to be trampled upon, but I understand. You have the air of a businessman, not a soldier. I cannot blame you for wanting to get back to your rich life, even if there is no guarantee.”, She turned forward to Celes once more, a reassuring smile stretching over her features. “Come, comrade. Let us get familiar with this place. Doesn’t seem like we’ll be leaving for some time.”

Celes raised an eyebrow at all the strife that was happening around her. To see Miranda, a fellow Shinigami react like this, downright drawing her blade upon others who were in the same predicament? Celes wasn't sure how to feel on this, however...ultimately both were Shinigami and as such, Celes felt that as Miranda was the superior of the two, she should follow the advice and guidance of her fellow Shinigami.
“I am a soldier. My honor and my integrity are the cornerstones to my way of life. sure, I stumble at times, but who doesn’t?” Celes listened intently. Was this all that Miranda saw herself as. Was this Celes' destiny as a Shinigami? Merely to be used as a pawn in a game. A soldier's duty was that no? Celes herself wasn't quite sure, then again, the young girl wasn't sure of alot of thing and she sighed.
During her thinking, Celes was hit by the question that Miranda posed her. “Come, comrade. Let us get familiar with this place. Doesn’t seem like we’ll be leaving for some time.” Celes couldn't help, but offer her thoughts on it. "Miss Miranda...I will follow you wherever as my superior, but wouldn't it be more lucrative for us to stick together as a group. Mostly since as I said before we are in no position to negotiate or "defy" per say."
She wasn't sure how this comment would affect Miranda. She just hoped that her fellow Shinigami could inherently see the light of reason. It was quite the predicament they were in. To be stuck here and only given orders by some kind of unknown, unseen force. But, ultimately, Celes knew a hostage when she saw one. This in essence was that, but they were given the oppurtunity to try and get out. Celes stood straight and confident, a bluff to try and brace herself for Miranda's response.
