The sudden switch between Shinigami that had been assigned to this mission was something that would definitely take a moment for everyone present to sort through. This new arrival felt no stronger than any of the others, but for anyone familiar with the ranks of each shinigami in all of the divisions his identity was easy enough to realize. Not the mention the fact that he gave his name, but little details it was time to proceed further with the questions so that this rag tag team of new shinigami could hopefully succeed in their first assignment working with other divisions.

The bat looked at Connor who had questioned why if it had so much time to gather information about this Quincy hadn't it captured him already. "I haven't had the time nor is it my assignment. I've been tasked with finding them all throughout Japan. This is simply one town we don't know if they're other Vandenreich in the government in various other places not just in Japan, but potentially in the entire human world. You've been tasked with capturing him and finding out what you can about what is going on not me." The bat's tone was obviously somewhat angry towards Connor for implying that it could be lazy or lacking in some way.

Turning towards Ranth the bat sighed. "At the moment no gigai aren't available so you're going to have to come up with some way of getting passed his body guards without them noticing you otherwise you'll have to eliminate or capture them alongside him. You've all graduated from the academy if you need to open a sekimon gate back to Soul Society you know how. Anymore questions." it was obvious that the bat was starting to lose patience. It was clear that they wanted all the information they could get while they could get it, but eventually they'd all have to get into position and it had more to do then them so could they just hurry up!

Ranth got the hint as their informant started to show a lack of patience with their incessant questioning. They wouldn't be able to infiltrate the building using conventional means, so they'd have to enter as Shiniagmi and do their best to respond to any Quincy countermeasures that may or may not exist as the situation called for. If they left now then they'd have time to scope out the building before their target got back from work and if things went really well, then they'd be waiting inside the man's room when he got home.

"Alright, we'll go and investigate the building where he lives while he's still at work then I suppose", Ranth said after the long silence that followed the informants last words. He didn't know how it had happened, but somehow Ranth seemed to have become the driving force behind the decision making in this mission and it terrified him as the Shinigami departed together for the building where their target lived.

It took them less than 15 minutes to find the building, a 26 story hotel complete with a rooftop pool and viewing area which even now was crowded with tourists. This gave them at least two primary entry points- the ground floor and the rooftop. "So... how do we want to do this?", Ranth asked casually of his two companions- secretly hoping that one of them would take charge so he could stop stressing.

If the bat was upset about me implying it was lazy, it was because I was, and he deserved it. I was under the assumption that this animal was not at all what it seemed to be, and was merely a transformed shinigami. If that was the case, then it should have been easy to deal with a fat, lazy politician, recardles of powers or not. I wanted to sigh, but there was no point in arguing with the bat now. Paying the transformed reaper no mind as it left, I turned to my teammates, hoping one of them was able to think of something to get to the Quincy.

I was a poor choice to lead a team. I felt my dead eye itch, remembering the last time I had to make a plan of attack. So many dead... I shrugged off the feeling, as Ranth spoke up. An investigation was a good idea. See what weaknesses we could exploit in the security, or in the building in and of itself, but hopefully it would not need to be taken that far. Ranth was open for ideas, but I was severely lacking in anything I considered good. Hopefully we could come up with something on the way to the building that our target resided in.

Letting out a soft sigh Wycliff looked over at the other two shingami, sadly he was walking in blind to this mission and didn't know exactly what to do and what they were doing here. He remembered something about a quincy and a kidnapping, but he wasn't exactly too sure. Either way as they started to hop from building to building he took a better look at the two shingami he was traveling with. One seemed to like masks and the other seemed to be a bit more reserved. Well that's as much as he could tell given he was still wearing his sunglasses.

After landing on the building he listed to what the more serious looking shingami said while eating some pop rocks that he had taken from out of his jacket. The sweet and tart candy started to pop in his mouth as the all important question came as to how did they want to do this? Looking at the building he figured that the best way to approach this was like the shingami that they were, while remembering reading something about the quincy having a loft. “Look can the two of ya be still here for a bit?” Wycliff spoke to the both of them as he looked back at the building and tried to use what little energy sensory he had to see what sort of spiritually aware people were in that building and where they were located. It would give him a better sense of what to do and how to approach this. All he knew was that they were here to kidnap someone.

After a few moments he would have his plan, however it would all depend on how many folks he sensed and where he sensed them. If the number of spiritually aware beings was low and they weren't near the top of the roof he would jump to the roof of the building putting a finger to his lips and letting out a shh sound so that the others would be quiet as he started to concentrate and sink through the roof of the building into it. He assumed that the others would follow as they would know that if they focused they could pass through the real world solid object. If the folks who were spiritually aware were on the top floor he would have them all enter in from one of the mid levels from a window passing through it as well. Either way he would be the first one in and would keep an eye out as the rest of them entered.

The three shinigami took for taking a few minutes to reach the building that the Quincy target had been staying in since he had been found by Soul Society. At the moment of course he was still at the office which meant that as they got to the top of the building there was very little chance that anyone inside of the building would be spiritually aware let alone be skilled enough to sense their reiatsu. Wycliff wanted the other two to remain quiet and still for a bit so that he could focus his own ability to sense reiatsu in order to pick up any potential spiritually aware entities inside of the building. It was a good idea there was just one major problem with that plan . . . Wycliff sucked at sensing reiatsu!

He'd be able to pick up that no one on the top two floors was spiritually aware, but beyond that he wouldn't be able to feel anything without getting closer. Whether or not that meant his plan as a whole was stopped didn't really matter because he'd know that the top two floors were free of any hostile entities at least for the moment. Now it was just a matter up to debate between all of the shinigami on what the next course of action for their group was going to be while they waited for the Quincy to return to his pent house.

Given that there wasn't a single trace of spiritual energy on the top floor Wycliff knew his exact action for trying to get this quincy. Motioning for the other two to follow him he silently started to head over to the building. Upon reaching the rooftop he would sink through the roof of the building by focusing. The other two should be able to do that as well given that they were shingami, given that the information that they knew sneaking into the penthouse was good enough for the first start.

Once inside he wouldn't turn on the main lights, looking for softer or smaller lights to turn on. “So ya two this is what were going to do when this guy gets here. I'll use some kido to keep him from moving, you two try and take him back, while I deal with the body guards. What's important here is capturing the target, not getting into long fights got it?” He looked at the two of them with a serous look across his face. This was one of the few times that he wouldn't be having a smile across his face. He didn't really think that this was the time to be messing around. While he didn't think that the other two were weak, he didn't want a fight.

Ranth was incredibly grateful to have someone else take charge in this mission and fell readily into his supporting role as the man known as Wycliff led the way across the street and then as one they scaled the side of the building in the way that only Shinigami and other spiritual beings could ever dream of doing. Once there, phasing through the ceiling was a simple matter of focus and willpower and then they were in- infiltration successful with no signs of being detected.

Ranth nodded silently as Wycliff outlined his plan. It seemed that Ranth and Connor would be the 'bag men' so to speak while Wycliff provided the bulk of the muscle. They still had to descend a few more floors and infiltrate the man's room and then they'd have to wait until the work day finished for the man to make his way home, but it would seem that doing so would prove to be child's play and the only real difficulty would come later.

"So I guess for now, we just have to get down to the 13th floor and get inside the target's room and wait for him", Ranth remarked quietly, partly because he wasn't sure if Wycliff had been briefed on the target's living quarters and partly just to fill in the eerie silence that seemed to haunt this floor of the hotel building.

As we arrived at the building, I wondered how we were going to get into the building unnoticed. And then the blond man started to merely phase through the roof as if it were water. Never before had I been so glad to be wearing a mask, because I was certain my jaw had just unhinged itself. My jaw was hanging, my eye was wide, and the act was almost enough to break my self enforced stoic demeanor. Why had I never been told that we could do that!? All the times my life could have been made so much easier! It was infuriating to no end! Why was I only now learning of this!?

My hands were tightly gripping my hair in frustration. I wanted to slam my head into something hard, just to numb how stupid I made myself look in the past. Oh the humanity... I let out an explosive sigh, and tried to imitate my coworkers. It took a half a minute, but I managed to get it eventually. Dropping to the floor with a soft thud, I looked around the room we had landed in. I listened to the blond, Waycloff I think he said. "Understood." I said, simply. Short, sweet, and to the point, no need to say more.

Inside the pent house now they were all three of them and the only thing that they would be able to see around them even with none of the lights on was that this Quincy likes things to be neat and obviously preferred things as expensive as possible. Although they weren't of the human world anymore it would be easy enough to see that he was one that placed a value on everything. Several objects were scattered across the living room type area on tables or shelves on the walls such as necklaces, gloves, paintings along with even two statues of muscular men in flexed stances.

4 Hours Later

They had been waiting for what would seem like forever with virtually nothing to do beyond make sure they weren't found out and continue to plan what to do once the Quincy got home. They wouldn't have to wait much longer though as he was returning right now. Wycliff would be able to sense him although he wouldn't be able to until he actually got off the elevator and began to walk the short distance. It would only take around thirty more seconds for the door of the apartment to open and when it did they'd all be able to see the Quincy begin to step inside with his two body guards positioned behind him ready to walk in with him. What would they do once he got inside and began to walk over towards the couch though?

As he waited in silence with his fellow shingami he started to wonder how long this mission would actually take. He really didn't want to wait all that long for a quincy of all things to simply show up and for them to catch him. Yet as the minutes turned into hours it seemed that his hopes for a quick and easy end to this mission continued to slip further and further away from him. No matter, at the very least he had his pop rocks to eat, and eat he did. For every minute after the first two hours had passed Wycliff would be devouring a bag of pop rocks, pulling them out of nowhere and creating a small pile of trash from where he was waiting. From his position he had a clear view of both the door and the living room and a straight shot.
About three hours in he started to pace back and forth between his position and about three feet from the door entrance, each time making sure to trace his steps exactly the same and removing any obstacles that were in his way or that could get in the way of his action. He didn't say why he was doing this, nor paying much attention to the other shingami, right now he assumed that this mission once the man arrived should be taken care of easily and only last a few moments. Finally four hours later he felt it, they had arrived and stepped off the elevator, Wycliff simply took his position.

As they walked towards the door Wycliff started to mentally incant a kido in his mind God of lightning, hear my cry, understand my plea, and grant me your power. Hado #48: Dendō Hōden. As the door opened and he saw all three there with a gap between the bodyguards and the man they were after Wycliff took action. Using shumpo he placed himself right in between them as he did so the kido he was incanting finished and unleashed. All around him in a meter wide dome lighting expanded outwards. The three men would be caught by the effects of it being slightly burned, but more importantly they would be numb all over where the lighting hit. The time inbetween Wycliff appearing and the kido going off was minuscule as he had timed it pacing back and forth for hours.

This wasn't the only kido Wycliff was going to use, as the lighting struck the men once more did another kido casted wordlessly fly out Hado #53: Surasorutoiera In every direction around him a force of energy would push everything that was near him away from him. He did this to separate the body guards from the target as all three men would find themselves flying off due to the force of the kido, while not meant to damage it was a very useful kido. “Go grab him and get him out of here, I've got the other two.”

Ranth had read books in which human soldiers recounted the agony of long stretches of nothing happening followed by sudden eruptions of violence. The waiting was bad, but the not knowing was worse they had said. When the enemy could arrive at any moment, but then didn't for hours, days or sometimes even weeks led to frayed nerves and desperation when the time for action finally came. For some, it had been enough to drive them mad.

He felt that madness now, or at least a vague sense of empathy for how those men must have felt. As the hours ticked by, his only solace was knowing that the target probably wouldn't show up before 3pm, which is when the work day ended in this part of the world, for this particular company. That didn't mean they could afford to be idle however and so all of them were on alert in... their own ways.

Nobody spoke for that four hour period, for who knew if they had some means of being overheard or discovered. A roaming guard or a maid going about her duties could both have given them away equally as well after all. Ranth did his best to avoid pacing, but his training had taught him enough to know that sitting still for too long was an excellent way to end up with cramped muscles or pins and needles so he remained standing for the most part.

Just as the books he'd read had promised, when the time for action came it was a shock and a rush all at once as anticipation burst into adrenaline. Wycliff led the way with a combination of speed and power the likes of which Ranth had never seen, but he couldn't afford to stand and stare as the man's words snapped him into action. Dashing past the two guards who had been thrown to the left and right, Ranth passed through the door to where the man he recognised as the target was now slumped dazedly against the wall of the corridor.

Unfortunately, it turned out that unleashing a small storm inside a hotel room was enough to trigger the fire alarms, so Ranth had to assume that someone in the building was aware that something was amiss. Although he was willing to be pleasantly surprised if everyone simply chose to evacuate instead. Trusting that Wycliff was capable of taking care of the guards and Connor had his back, Ranth struck the fat Quincy in the face before he had time to so much as curse at him with the intention of knocking him out cold- possibly with the added bonus of a broken nose. If he was indeed knocked out by this blow, Ranth would proceed with the plan. Otherwise, he'd respond according to whatever the Quincy did in appropriate fashion.

Feeling confident now that the goal seemed so close, Ranth stretched out a hand towards the empty sir of the corridor to his right to summon a Senkaimon and found... that nothing happened. Frowning, he tried again and found a vague sense of resistance each time he tried to reach out for it. With a sinking feeling in his stomach, Ranth realised too late what was happening. The building did indeed have at least one countermeasure to spiritual beings... it was equipped to prevent inter-dimensional gateways from being created within its walls.

"We have to get him outside the building, the Senkaimon is blocked in here!" Ranth informed Connor once he joined him in the corridor. "Bloody hell, this guys weighs a tonne, help me lift him", he grunted as he got under the unconscious Quincies left side and waited for Connor to take the other side. "Which way?", he asked Connor- effectively putting him in charge of the escape route in the process.

With a limited scope of vision, I was unable to enjoy a decent view of the home our Quincy target resided in. It was a shame really, but one that mattered little in the end. We waited in relative silence, with the only real noise coming from the near silent pops of Wycliff. I made a face at that. Candy. Bleh. Sugary trash, the lot of it. How a man of his stature could stand the garbage was beyond me, but I suppose we all have our vices. Still, to carry bags of it around on missions was too much. Not that I could blame him really, since I myself was wishing for something to do.

I wanted to try and get some sleep, but on a mission like this, that was impossible, and would likely get me killed, or at the very least, a harsh reprimanding. Watching the clouds was out of the question as well, seeing as the bodyguards might be looking for people in the windows. It was torture, standing around, doing absolutely nothing. I actually enjoyed the silence of it, the peace and quiet, but if I tried to get comfortable, I would doze off. Such a frustrating mission this was turning out to be. Nothing ever turned out simple for me, hmm? Oh well, no use in complaining.

And then an entire four hours passed, and to say I was feeling a tad trigger happy was an understatement. This guy had forced me to waste four hours, sitting around, doing nothing, just for him to get back home. Watching the pacing blond Reaper only further aggravated my mood further, souring it in a way I have not felt in a long while. As such, when he stopped, it immediately caught my attention. A few moments later, the door opened, and Wycliff struck out with two Kido that I did not know the names to. Not that I particularly cared at the moment, as they did the job of disabling the three Quincy.

I ran towards the, choosing not to use Shunpo as the candy addict had done, saving my energy for later. Sadly, that meant that Ranth managed to get the first blow in on him, preventing me from alleviating my frustrations on the slow man. Ranth, the genius that he was, tried to open a gateway back. Not to my surprise however, it failed. I reached the obese man shortly after that. Not hesitating, I looked at his wrists and neck, ripping off anything that looked like a cross, before helping heft the man up, taking his right side. Ranth was right, it was like trying to hold up a hippo. I looked to the sides, before seeing what I wanted. "That way, to the elevator." I told him quietly, pulling most of the weight of the man. And if he started to thrash about, I would personally punch him in the temple.

As the door of the pent house opened it seemed that the Shinigami even thjough they had so much time to plan a method of capture working together left it all up to chance and luck. Playing the situation off by ear would appear to be enough at first as the blonde shinigami known as Wycliff was able to get right up in front of all three Quincy while emanating the lightning kido causing mild burns and numbness to the Quincy. Although it was happening quickly if any of them were looking clearly enough they'd be able to see that the numbness kept the Quincy bodyguards from raising their hands towards Wycliff. In the moment that followed though Wycliff cast a second kido that managed to separate all of the Quincy with the body guards being sent backwards down the hallway and the target being shoved back against the wall.

It was a good plan on Wycliff's part especially without the need of his allies, but the numbness from the lightning kido didn't last very long even against Quincy of moderate abilities such as these. The body guards were quick to their feet while the target still sat slumped against the wall. Long bows materializing in their arms each body guard raising them and aiming at Wycliff as both Connor and Ranth exited the pent house to grab a hold of the target. They couldn't open a Senkimon gate which meant that right now it looked like they were in a stand off with the Quincy body guards getting up onto their feet. If they looked closer though they still had a moment the Quincy were struggling to get into their feet. The numbness was all over them making it difficult to move their bodies.

As the target was lifted up off the floor by both Ranth and Connor the bodyguards placed their hands inside the uniforms that they were wearing in order to grab something. Both of them moved in unison almost like mirror images of one another. Moving their arms didn't seem to be as hard as their legs perhaps due to intense focus if nothing else. Hands shaking they both pulled out a small silver tube. Just as they did the target pulled down with both his arms on Ranth and Connor using them to pull himself forward faster towards the door of his penthouse. His weight was helped even though he to was numb yet thankfully to him he wasn't very far from the door way and could still manage if only barely to get inside.

“Endure all with crystal might!”

"Embrace the sting of every strike. Tausend Pfeil Streik!”

"A silver rod strikes the five-fingered stone bed. Gritz!”

Shouted the target and his body guards as he reached the doorway of his penthouse and a ginto was revealed to have just been pulled out from his coat pocket over his right breast. The ginto immediately pulsed and burst apart forming into a wall of what looked to be crystal preventing the group of shinigami from getting into the room after him. At the same time though it also meant that now the small group of shinigami was left to deal with the two body guards. Each body guard had activated a ginto technique due to the lack of mobility in their body at the moment as one simply threw his fibro out towards the blonde shinigami that had first attacked. That vinyl would form into a large cross that if it managed to touch Wycliff would enwrap around him preventing him from moving. The other guard though lay on the ground holding a fibro out towards the group. This technique was much more dangerous as small arrows began to fly down the hallway towards Ranth and Connor. Each arrow was only around the size of a pencil yet in rapid succession soon one hundred of them would be fired off towards all three shinigami who filled the hallway.

The plan had worked, at least part of it did all three of them had been stunned and forced back in different directions. However it seemed that the fat fucker who they were here for actually had a bit more strength than he let on. “Damn, tubby can move.” While seeing this he also saw that the two bodyguards were starting to recover slightly, this wasn't good, he knew for a fact that the two he was with weren't going to be able to be much help here, instead they would be hindrances to him, not that he didn't trust them as allies it's that he couldn't protect them and keep these two bodyguards in line. Wycliff instantly backed off of the two downed bodyguards and tossed over to Ranth a small trinket with a shield on it.”Keep it safe and return it to me ya.”

Wycliff really didn't want to hand that over to Ranth and Conner. It was something that he kept with him as a reminder of his failure. He had failed to save both the mother and father, he tried his best to keep them from falling to that hollow and in the end nothing he did mattered. Yet they still granted him a blessing to help save their son, he did, at a high cost, but now that little bit of power remained in the trinket, Wycliff didn't care about the power it provided, he just knew that it would be wrong to ever give away something like that. He hadn't earned the right yet to forget about that family and forget his failure.

With that said he shumpoed back even further managing to dodge the things the quincy did before firing out a kido nearby the floor of Ranth and Conner. The kido exploded into a ball of magma and melted through the floor creating a large hole big enough for them to get into and enter the apartment below. “Head down and chase the man ya two I'll take care of these ugly fuckers, whatever ya do, don't come back for me ya hear. That's an order, I'll meet up with ya lot later.” With that order said Wycliff would wait till both Conner and Ranth left the room he didn't want them to see this.

“Hope ya two forgive me for this, I ain't too proud, but I gotta keep my bros safe ya hear. Just one time, Chūdoku” With those words said Wycliff's zan would change from the pure white to the horrid gray greatsword. The amount of spiritual energy in the room would change as it filled with the pressure coming off of Wycliff. White powder would spew everywhere off of him and the blade. Even though he got some distance between him and the archers the powder would slowly creep towards them as he started to laugh. Now Wycliff was out for blood, and these two were easy picking. Two techs would be used, one simple and his bread and butter in closed combat like this. Five balls of cocaine would be created around him while hidden in the floor twenty five others would be made. Those twenty five would be around the guards so the moment they took a step they would go off instantly without warning and without notice. They were landmines, ones filled with cocaine, the other tech was easy a single seed was fired from Wycliff's chest and would land between the men this seed would vapidly grow into a small tree producing cocaine that would reach out five feet in all directions. The men would have to stop breathing and cover everything they had to stop themselves from getting hit by the drug or else they fall prey to it's affects.

Ranth grunted with a surprise as the Quincy roused himself and immediately overpowered both himself and Conor before they could reach the elevator. Before either of the pair could react in any meaningful way 'Tubby' had somehow managed to pull himself back into his room whilst shouting about crystals and suddenly the door had been sealed by what Ranth recognised as what was surely a Ginto technique of some kind.

The good news was that their target couldn't really go anywhere from there on account of having cornered himself. The bad news, on the other hand, was that the two body guards who had accompanied him were also on the outside of the room and although Wycliff's electrical attack had severely hampered their movements- as evidenced by their shaking hands and fumbling fingers.

In fact, while the pair were still struggling to attack them, Wycliff had plenty of time to give orders to Ranth and Connor and those instructions consisted of going after the target as he blew open a hole in the floor so that they could get around the hastily erected barrier whilst also avoiding the incoming fire as the pair of bodyguards were able to start firing arrows.

To Ranth's surprise though, just as he was about to leap down through the hole, he caught something that Wycliff threw to him and realised that it was a trinket of some kind attached to a chain which he promptly tied around his wrist with a nod to indicate that he'd heaard the man's request to keep it safe and then he led the way into the floor below.

He only had to travel about 5 steps after that- phasing through the wall of the room below so that he was directly underneath the penthouse- and then he jumped, phasing through the floor and emerging on the other side of the Ginto created barrier and he scanned the room for signs of 'Tubby'. On the other side of the barrier Ranth heard rather than felt an enormous surge of reiatsu as the entire floor shook. His ES was abysmal so he wasn't able to discern the source and nor was he able to hear anything beyond the Ginto barrier as it seemed to prevent sound from passing through it- but he trusted in Wycliff to be able to hold his own.

Which meant that it was up to himself and Connor to apprehend the main target. Thus, Ranth drew his Zanpakuto as he locked eyes with 'Tubby' who had been standing nervously towards the back of the room with the living room couch in between them. "I-If you surrender now, n-nobody has to get hurt" Ranth said- trying to sound confident and authoritative and failing horribly in the process.
