Doctor Makes a House Call

Karakura is Under MY Protection ރ I'm my own Person now. One that will destroy any who seek to harm Karakura ☠ Staying in the small one bedroom apartment that Nami had been shown and supplied by Soul Society wasn't something that the young blonde haired Fullbringer tended to do. In reality she didn't return to the apartment for more than a few hours every other day or so. Most of the time her duty kept her out in Karakura constantly on alter to anything that might happen. Although she could feel things now she still didn't understand what it meant to be human or what came with the emotions that flowed throughout her. Amagai hadn't contacted her in months and she was beginning to feel as if perhaps she had been forgotten or Soul Society had tricked her in some way, but her intellect and logical straight forward thinking brought her to the conclusion that more than likely Soul Society still knew about her, but with everything that was going on in the three worlds right now she more than likely wasn't even on the radar of issues anymore. So she simply kept doing what she was meant to do. It was no longer to seek out and eliminate those deems as targets, but to protect Karakura Town from anyone that would seek to do it or the humans that live in it harm. As she made her way up the stairs on the side of the small two story apartment building and turned to the door that opened up the second floor Nami sensed a reiatsu signature coming from inside. Although her talent for sensing reiatsu wasn't all that great it was still enough that she could tell that a Shinigami was in fact inside and more than likely waiting in her room for her to come back. It didn't matter this changed nothing. So opening up the door Nami stepped inside and then proceeded to enter her apartment. Once inside she would look to the Shinigami inside. "Am I being called upon?"

"Hmm? Oh neat, you're here!" Musuhina said, looking up from her notepad. "Sorry for the random home invasion, but I've been sent from the Soul Society to give you a medical review. It's nothing too big, its just a way to let us know where you are on a mental and physical level.". She'd continue jotting down a few things so that she could get things started while hoping that the substitute shinigami would briefly forget the fact that she broke into her apartment...or the fact that she came in armed. Musuhina figured that this probably wouldn't end well.

But nonetheless this was what she was sent out to do since she didn't have much in the way of patients in the medical ward. And with things being relatively peaceful there now, she was asked to do a few things in the world of the living. Thankfully medical reviews for her only lasted a little while from what she experienced when she was younger. Then again she mostly evaluated people that were harmless instead of people that could shock her with electricity, set her on fire, cause her to explode, cut her into a thousand pieces, bury her alive or all at the same time.

So in attempt to avoid any of the scenarios above, Musuhina started thinking of anything that could ease things over for the Fullbringer across from her. But how could she approach this...? She had to think of something fast, she couldn't exactly stay formal for long (despite being about as informal as a shinigami could get). After a few more seconds, she managed to come up with something. She bounced slightly on the bed she was sitting on before saying "Huh...nice bed by the way, pretty comfy.". Well...at least it was something.

As Nami stepped into the apartment that she was provided by Soul Society and saw the small short dark haired girl waiting for her inside with what looked to be a small booklet she simply shut the door behind her. The Shinigami spoke to her in a manner that Nami hadn't actually experienced before. It wasn't like she was trying to tell her what to do or what she needed to do, but more like she was just speaking. She wasn't all that sure herself why it felt different more that she just knew it was or at least felt that way. It seemed that Soul Society wished to have her physically and mentally evaluated though.

This Shinigami was more than likely expecting some kind of hostility with how she was acting, but Nami had just been informed that she was to be evaluated by her. That was her assignment as of this moment. So the young Fullbringer would step into the center of the room by the low sitting table and would sit across from where the Shinigami now sat on the bed that had been provided for her. As she bounced up and down and commented on how it was soft Nami simply looked into her eyes without any sort of emotion displayed across her face.

"It's to soft." Nami said softly. It wasn't an attempt at speaking to this Shinigami really Nami just informed her about how she felt in regards to the subject that had just been presented to her. She in truth couldn't sleep on the bed. The fabric was to soft and simply the experience of laying down between the sheet or even on the mattress itself was to foreign. She had been sleeping against the wall which possessed a window to the outside. The wall was study and hard something to press her back against which although she didn't know it was what her body had become accustomed to after being a weapon for so long. Nami simply sat though watching this Shinigami awaiting her evaluation.

"eh I guess we all have our sleep number." Musuhina would say as she rested her back against the wall. After cracking her fingers a bit while thinking that her idea, by some stretch of her imagination worked, she would begin. "Alright lets start with something simple. I'd like to know a bit about your past. You can share as much as you're comfortable with, I just want something to know where you're coming from and to see if anything popped up from before that would either cause problems for you or would end up helping you later. Things like where you were born, what kind of environment you grew up in, things like that.".

Musuhina was a bit worried that her rambling would probably bore the Fullbringer to death, but things like this were important. And at the risk of sounding a bit robotic or standard compared to her usual approach, she was able to say what needed to be said for this to work. Though this stiff way of doing things was, nonetheless, uncomfortable for her. She'd always tried to act human when dealing with her patients instead of being too calculated in how she handled things. It was good when she was studying or in the present where she had to be more organized, but when talking to other people, it just made her seem too restricted.

But regardless of what she thought, it was in the Fullbringer's hands now. Depending on how much she'd share with her, Musuhina would create her own questions as it would go on. Actually, a couple of questions were darting around her head already. Mainly just things like how good or bad her life was before. In any case, she'd be paying full attention to what the Fullbringer would say next. Then again, after reading a few things about her already, maybe she should use her actual name instead.

Nami sat at the small table set just a few feet from her bed that the Shinigami currently sat upon. The table was between them and seemed to give this meeting an aura of more formality than what this Shinigami seemed to be going for with her unusual speak of unprofessional vernacular. She seemed to be speaking to Nami in a way that was more along the lines of what she heard between the normal humans that walked Karakura. It was different it didn't hold any sort of authority it just seemed as if what she was saying was being . . . well said.

It seemed though that she wished to ask Nami about her past which Soul Society didn't really know all that much about in truth. Nami had been captured by Amagai Kuchiki and then held in a cell for over a week after attacking one of the Shinigami, but beyond reasoning with her and offering her a position as a substitute Shinigami and not an enemy they didn't ask much else. She wanted to know where Nami was born. What kind of environment she had been raised in. So did that mean she wanted to know what her life was like until last month?

"I remember being little when my parents were killed by a man with long black hair. The man took me afterwards. I became his property. I was experimented on and tested against other things. The scientists would set up tests for me to accomplish. Most of the time I would be forced to fight against creatures that were enhanced somehow. Other times I would be sent to kill or defeat other spiritual beings like Shinigami." There was more to be said about Nami's past, but that was the general life that she lived and although she could have went into further detail the young Fullbringer simply sat in her position watching the Shinigami across from the table.

"Huh...so you've had a life full of killing?" Musuhina said as she rubbed her chin, keeping her depressed eyes on her notes with a sad look. Yup, it was about as bad as she'd heard. From what little the reports she'd had at her disposal, she had mapped out a pretty good idea of what she was in for in terms of Izanami's background, but still. She'd wondered what kind of nearly irreparable damage must be done to her psyche. Nearly two decades lost in terms of development and focused mainly on combat. If the lack of social development was as bad as Musuhina thought, then just how in the Hell did Vice Captain Amagai manage to get her on friendly enough terms with the Soul Society to act as a Substitute Shinigami?

"I'm sorry, that must've done quite a number on you as a kid." she continued while adding to the data on Izanami that was already there. And then there was the possibilities of what kind of things they'd done to her. The lack of proper social development was one thing, but to be subjected to experimentation for so long while being treated like that. Quite frankly, Musuhina was surprised she was even sane at all. She'd wondered whether or not she should delve a little bit deeper into those thing as the only thing around to hear were the sounds of her pen scratching against paper and a few cars that were still out late at night.

Then again, what point was there in thinking about it? She had to delve deeper, if she wanted this evaluation to have any real results, she'd have to. So with what little mental hesitation she had, she'd start asking her questions. "Did you ever have any regrets at all after killing someone? I know that a person's behavior comes from how they're raised, but even in your case, I imagine that there must've been some inkling of guilt somewhere inside, at least when you were little.". In cases like this, she had to tread in some uncomfortable places. Musuhina had hoped though, that it wouldn't end up pressing the wrong buttons of someone that was literally trained to kill, let alone someone that had experience in fighting Shinigami before.

Nami listened to what the shinigami said from across the small table as she sat on the bed that Soul Society had provided for her. It seemed that this shinigami was actually surprised about everything that Nami had gone through in her existence. Nami never thought about her past as anything more than simply that, things she had previously done. There was only one exception to that however which involved the man that had captured her after killing her parents. The man that was responsible for everything that she had gone through and what she was now. The only person that had always brought emotion to Nami's soul.

The shinigami asked her if she had ever felt any sort of regret after killing a target and when she did Nami sat in her spot thinking back to all of the entities that she had been sent to eliminate by the organization that throughout most of her life controlled her. All of the memories and yet nothing was brought to the surface. No emotion including regret surfaced through her soul as she recalled every life that she had stripped away. She could recall back when she was small enough that weilding her Fullbring actually felt heavy and it was bigger than her, but even than there was no emotion attached to the death of a target.

"No, I was sent to eliminate my targets. It's what I existed for, my purpose for existing was to kill those that I was ordered to. I don't recall ever feeling guilt or regret for fulfilling my duty." Nami couldn't help, but see the image of her younger self standing atop the small pond of water holding her Fullbring. Ever since she had joined Soul Society her dreams had stopped. No longer was she being slaughtered by a younger version of herself every night. Nami still didn't understand why she had been having the dream in the first place, but since it had stopped her thoughts on it had followed as well. They weren't a problem anymore.

After hearing what Izanami said, Musuhina couldn't really help but feel a bit troubled at how little Izanami felt at all, let alone feeling something like regret. Granted that by now she would most likely be facing Hollows more than anything. Which Musuhina figured weren't as sentient compared to regular humans. But that still kind of felt off to her when thinking how many times the woman that she was questioning was ordered to kill pretty much anything or anybody that whatever organization took her needed her to from the time she was a child.

Still though...she believed that there had to be some semblance of emotion still swimming around in her head, even just a bit of it. But right now, she couldn't help her if she wouldn't let her in. Musuhina felt that it'd have to a gradual process, chipping away as Izanami's protected psyche as much as she could. It was easier said than done too. She mainly studied on how to treat physical wounds instead of mental ones, but maybe this would help her branch her expertise out as well. In any case, it certainly wasn't gonna be easy. She stood up after completing her notes and recording what little data she could get before slipping Shinku Ko neatly through her waist cloth.

"Well alright if that's all you wanna share for now, that's fine. But just to be certain, I was advised to make multiple appointments just for the sake of being thorough. It won't exactly be the last time you see me. And who knows, maybe we'll run into each other again outside of me picking at your head.". With that said, Musuhina gave her a faint smile and a wave before hopping through the open window just behind her. After that, a sudden bit of dread flushed through her at the thought of how much work would be waiting for her when she got back to the Soul Society, let alone attempting to write up a schedule to catch up at the same time. But with a heavy sigh, she'd suck it up and try her best to handle what she'd have to handle.
