The two weapons clashed. Marcus made his move to block Luke’s sword midway through its swing causing the two weapons to clash. The moment those two weapons clashed, even as Marcus attached one of his Fullbring strings to the blade, Luke let go of his sword causing it to vanish. Marcus made an attempt to attach a string to Luke as well, seeing how he aimed to block the air sword with his knife in a spot close to Luke’s hand, but the Bount hadn’t been planning on the two going into another clash. He expected the block. He predicted it. He wanted Marcus to block, not to dodge, and the Fullbringer did exactly what the Bount wanted him to do. That was why Luke let go of his sword when the two weapons clashed and he suddenly vanished, unknowingly ruining all of Marcus’s plans for him. Marcus had done exactly what Luke wanted. So why stick around?
Their shadows had crossed. The reason Luke had gone in for a melee attack was because he had wanted to get his ever increasing in size shadow to cross with Marcus’s. By engaging the Bount in melee, the Fullbringer unknowingly had crossed his shadow with Luke’s. As faint as it may be, Marcus still had a shadow. Now that Luke’s had touched his, the Fullbringers own shadow became just as dark as the Bount’s. And just like Luke’s it was growing. The Bount had suddenly vanished by using a Step Technique that was not Movement. He had used Schiene, the Bount signature Step, to create a pathway of reiatsu starting from himself to a good couple feet backwards.
Traveling across the rail moved Luke at 7x his own Speed(2100), and he came to a stop facing Marcus. There was no doubt that the Fullbringer must have been confused. Why would Luke engage physically if he didn’t intend to push any further and to simply retreat after a brief clash? ”Well Marcus, I’m hoping that I’ve made up for the shitshow I gave you last time.” Luke said casually. He had come to realize that this fight was nearing its end. Blows had been traded, and though Luke was mostly unscathed he was still nearing his “caution” level of reiatsu. He also didn’t want Marcus to set up an even bigger network of strings. Though briefly, Luke had seen the effects they seemed to have on things they attached.
”Sorry about this but this is probably going to hurt...but you wanted to see my Doll.” As Luke said that, Marcus would immediately become aware of something. The feeling of breath on the back of his neck. The feeling that someone was behind him. From behind him his left arms wrist would be grabbed, yanked backwards with a force a little more than twice his own. Marcus, taken by surprise, would be hard pressed to counter the maneuver as whatever had a hold of him would twist the Fullbringer’s arm so that his arm was bent behind his back, restraining him with a wrist lock.
”Hehe, hola señor.” The Doll would speak as he placed his own right hand on Marcus’s shoulder. Long, slender, black as the void claws gripping onto the Fullbringers shoulder and digging into Marcus’s left arm. If the Fullbringer chose to look back he would see the thing that was behind him. A being composed entirely of darkness. Roughly humanoid in appearance, it possessed two arms that ended in clawed fingers. His face possessed no features whatsoever, nothing but a blank canvas of dark. The Doll’s torso was incredibly rather muscular, attributing to the beyond human and animal strength it possessed. A series of spikes traveled down its back, and its lower body was connected to Marcus’s own shadow.
What’s more, Marcus would be subjected to the sensation of pain on the level of dry ice being pressed into his left arm. Jäger chose to dig his claws a bit into Marcus’s arm, causing the limb to begin to darken and become transparent. Jäger’s ability was a nasty one. Whatever his claws cut, even if it was light enough to leave white lines on your skin or on surfaces, would turn into a “shadow object”. Something that couldn’t interact with anything that wasn’t also a shadow object or Jäger himself.
But how did this happen? Where did Jäger come from? The answer was stupidly simple. The Doll had come from Marcus’s own shadow. Jäger was a Doll that infected shadows. When released he would become Luke’s shadow, and from there any shadow that Luke’s touched would become infected with Jäger. From the growing network of shadows Jäger could then form his Hunter Form, the thing that Luke and Marcus saw now. The thing that everyone thought of when they thought of Jäger. When the two men clashed their shadows had crossed. Luke’s enlarging shadow had crossed with Marcus’s during their clash, infecting the Fullbringers shadow and enabling Jäger to emerge from it.
The Doll decided to dig his right hands claws into Marcus’s shoulder as well, causing even more of the mans body to begin to turn into a shadow and be subjected to that dry ice like pain. ”Don’t even think about using those strings to tie me up without lubing me up first. But do anything funny and I’ll rip your arm off and flagell-” Jäger began to say before he was cut off by ”Jäger. Knock it off.”. Turning his attention to his Master, the Doll leaned forward a little and applied more pressure to Marcus’s arm. ”Oh Lukykins chillax fam. I got this homie. I’m just applying some hella scare tactics on this guy. Did you notice he smells like hella frog legs?” Why the fuck was he talking like that?
Needless to say, crossing his arms across his chest Luke let out a sigh. Turning his attention to Marcus, the Bount looked at him for a moment. ”So...you wanna call it quits?”
