FC: Hei from Darker than Black
Played by: Kaga
Height/Weight: [5' 9''/133 lbs]
Physical Description:
Yun has a thin, and unassuming build, especially whilst donning a Shihakushō, casual wear or the most common of attire he equips: a black Onmitsukidō uniform. He regularly covers most of his skin with dark coloured clothing (to the point of using a grey shitagi then the standard white), to blend with shadows no matter the occasion, he'll remark but the truth speaks about his true character, Yun's wardrobe is mostly filled with work uniforms then casual wear. Extra details about his overall physical body is the noticeable scars on the skin, strong callouses line his open palms insinuate Yun has trained with the sword for a long time, while the sometimes bruised toes and blistered heels mark both failed and successful attempts of Shunpo.
Yun lacks most facial hair, a very smooth yet angular jawline shows either he shaves well or is lucky puberty didn't hit him like a truck. His real jet black hair is shaggy and noticeably straight, almost giving him the appearance of a hobo if the distinct lack of any body odour or facial hair didn't prove otherwise, the rogue's mane never grows past his eyebrow line or nape line for the front and back respectively. It's like Yun half-cares about his appearance.
The most intense feature of Yun isn't his split-personality-posture (casual and aloof when at break but extremely militaristic and uniform when studying or work), but the murky ocean blue eyes he pairs. Usually cold and unfocused dislike his normal demeanour, it takes but a single order or gesture for the cloudy waters to spin into motion. The piercing shallow azure will unnerve you if looking directly into his eyes, it'll seem like the boy is either a stalking creature or spirited work of art.
His thin but short white nose rests above a lightly tanned and gentle mouth, this houses a straight set of pearly whites which subtly smells of mint where a quiet but deep voice bellows. As you might have noticed, Yun cares deeply for a specific kind of hygiene. Mostly smells are taken accounted for due to many foes possessing great senses that can notice faint aromas, this is to slightly hinder that factor whenever possible.

-Personality-
Dislikes:
Broken Promises - "Do that again, I'll make sure you'll never breathe" - Yun holds "promises" very dearly to him, it can be said his entire goal and life purpose originated from a small promise between child and parent. This shows a very childish side of Yun not many people can envision if someone breaks a small inconsequential promise, but is could easily spell your possible death (Or at least your head officially hunted) if taken advantage of him through this way.
Reading - "Anything but words, my kryptonite..." - Not the worst weakness, but it steams from his very wild personality during the younger years. He always neglected learning how to read or write so this problem comes to bite him back in the ass after such a long time. Though this time he can't just ignore it again.
Pushy People - "I detest people of your mindset" - Yun can be seen as outgoing by the few people who truly know him, but what's even more noticeable is how his personality doesn't support pushy individuals. The type of person who'll drag you along without rhyme or reason and selfishly waste your time. "That's similar to people of power?" -While that is true, Yun expects people who he serves to possess some kind of selfishness or gaudy personality, he just hates pushy people who are of no relation to him.
Feng Clan - "I still hate the lot of them, even if one of them was like a father I once had." - You've likely read his history; how the once young and stressed boy took all his anger out onto the world. Even though this hatred is now understood after obtaining some aged wisdom, he'll still object to personally encounter those high class members of the Feng Clan who suck up to the other clans and are disloyal to the Shihoin. Though there is only one certain uncle who'd he'll always attempt to protect, even if he sounds like a total hypocrite doing so.
Being inexperienced - "I hate myself for being weak, isn't that hard to understand" - His small fear of large crowds is the cause of bullying by large crowds, his drive to become stronger is one way to overcome those small fears that pile into a larger problem that is his fear of failure. Being inexperienced is also a part of the greater fear he holds. The more information that is known and comprehended, the stronger he believes he gets.
Likes:
Sleeping- "5 Minutes more, tops. I swear." - An oddity to his personality, Yun is regularly serious but being vigilant nearly 24/7 is hazardous to a person's health. That's why some people can expect to see the man sleeping in some weird locations either on recon assignments, training and especially after studying. Those heated tatami floor mats I tell you, a god send.
Physical Training - "5 Minutes more, tops. I swear. I'm getting a strange case of déjà vu." - Obsessed even more then sleeping, it's debatable if he gets enough sleep and that's the reason why he likes to lay around random tatami floors and sunlight areas. Whatever is the case, Yun's love for training wasn't born out of one habit, love or reason anymore. After all these years, he's grown to accept it as a part of himself.
Board Games - "One of the only things that I like sitting still for." - A pastime to cool his brain off whenever he gets stuck in studying, works wonders when playing against someone like his teachers or just a random squad-mate. Though betting is likely going to occur if the latter is happening.
Talking about others - "So I heard about this thing with that girl from squad 2..." - Yun isn't the type to openly boast or talk about himself, but rather the people he's met and had the pleasure of experiencing. Be it that annoying blonde girl from 9 or the funny animal-person of the kuchiki clan, the spirit world is weird enough to talk about for lifetimes, why would anyone want to know about him?
Assassins - "Mother and Father were some of the best. I'd like to follow in their footsteps." - Or ninja, whichever you prefer. Yun's fascination was always derived from outdated mission reports his uncle relayed to him after they died. When young, his parents separated their work from the private life in hopes to slowly introduce the Feng's heritage of assassins and warriors to him. That small goal likely lead to Yun's early physical weakness.
Hakuda - "The sharper, the better." - Before swords were held in his hands, Yun practised Hakuda with his father. At the time, it was much slower and methodical so they used it for meditating through motion more then actually using it for the intending purpose of protecting oneself or incapacitating others. To this day, this way of meditating is the only form of true comfort he creates since he doesn't have the patience to sit in utter silence for hours on end, this way his body is still pumping blood properly, constantly.
Flaws:
Unrelenting - "Again! Again! Again! Again!" - Sometimes his incessant strive to attain strength leaves him in a position where he doesn't know when to back down. Usually it's just Yun acting childish or attempting to solve a riddle without thinking ahead, but it's a major problem if he loses sight on his actual goal without properly taking his physical condition into consideration.
Unpredictable - "Not my fault you don't understand me." - There are times where his grasp on a situation can lead to a very long winded tangent within his mind. Thinking too much, would be the best way to sum up this flaw of his. This can lead Yun to overthink an otherwise simple opponent or misinterpret an attack's pattern. But there are times where he can turn the tide of battle when he gets experimental with his ability or tools on-hand.
Violent - "If I punch you enough, you'd look like a ripe plum. I'd like to see that now." - A treat from childhood that stuck when he thought he grew out of it. This aspect of his personality isn't as damning when compared to the younger version of himself, there he really shown how dark a kid can get when he's left to his own devices. Overall, although Yun has gotten very calm and friendlier in recent years, there is still times when he can really get mad.
Uncaring - "Don't know, don't care." - This aspect of Yun is primarily due to mistrust for people who's wronged him before or old wounds that never really healed. He understands the concept of 'bygones be bygones', but why care for a person who might've not changed their way of thinking from before?
Ignorant - "I know I don't know much about the world. That's why I intend to solve this issue myself" - This doesn't mean total ignorance, lack of experience when fighting most unique denizens of the spirit/real/hell/hollow world has left him with a very glaring lack of hands-on experience with them. Time will tell when fighting most of them becomes an obligation, he'll want to be prepared when it happens.
Habits:
Exploiting situations - "Told me only to get rid of it all. How should I know you meant this part only?" - Yun won't cheat out a person if the contractor is nice enough, but he isn't a free charity and especially won't stand for anyone trying to ruin his business. This habit means he'll use everything in his power to ruin whoever attempts to cheat him out of money from his hard work.
Training Hakuda - "Step, breathe..., step." - His love for Hakuda stems from his father's early teachings. Some attempt to compare it to a casual obsession that he might be unaware of since he never really likes talking about himself. But even if he doesn't like providing a truthful answer to outsiders, it's clear he puts his heart into it.
Learning - "Reading, punching or swinging. The joy is all mine" - His distaste for weakness lead him to appreciate knowledge and secretes. This is why you'll see him marvel or ponder at a nearby book or device he's yet to understand, questioning or fiddling on it if touchable.
Fears:
Loss of more family or friends - "Just stay within an arms reach of me at least." - There are people he likes to hang around with, be it the couple of gambling senpai who loose more over dice then visiting the flower field, the fellow servants who dutifully watch for and care over the Shihoin clan members and especially the old man uncle. It would suck to see those people leave, even if mortality in this world is so fickle.
Failure - "Waste of practice, waste of time" - He'll always feel empty if his work is equated to nothing. Though no stranger to partial loss and accepting that fact is nowadays commonplace, he's yet to feel that dreading sense of failure ever since his uncle lost that limb for him. He can only beg this feeling never comes again.
Fighting without a purpose - "Makes me feel empty, you know?" - A peeve that's understandable if you compare his drive to become stronger as a purpose, or making uncle happy that he's protecting the Shihoin directly. Fighting without a goal or not seeing the end entirely is nearly heart breaking, similar almost to loosing a loved one since one of those goals has been with him nearly his entire life.
Goals:
Understand more about other factions - "Quincy, Hollows, Bount, Hellspawn. Humans even. Never met many, why not broaden my horizons a little?" - Doesn't mean fight them, apart from the hollows and hellspawn anyway. Both his outsiders curiosity and tales of their small acts of kindness does make the goal slightly possible, but Yun's still perfectly fine with fighting them all. Just not at the same time.
Protect the Shihoin - "I may be childish, dumb and quite the asshole. But they still took me in, that's a debt I'll pay for the rest of my life. And I'm fine with that." - A nearly timeless goal since this just means he wants to protect them to best of his ability. He'll just hope they'll all die of old age but knowing the spirit world, this goal will be more of a hassle then it can initially appear to be.
Mastering Hakuda and his Zanpakuto - "A simple goal, but gotta start somewhere. Right?" - Not the quickest goal, but sure is the easiest to understand. Whenever Yun claims his zanpakuto and acquires both releases, while attaining the highest level of strength in Hakuda he can manage. Then he'll finally be sated in this quest for mastery, just for a little bit.
Alignment: [Chaotic Good]
Overall Personality:
Most of Yun's personality stems from his inner known flaws in addition to solutions the rogue tries in an attempt to either hide, mask or misconstrue. The way Yun presents himself can often seem callous or unfriendly, especially to new denizens of the Shihoin's servant unit or the Onmitsukidō itself, this is primarily tied to a mistrusting nature where he'll attempt to internally gauge an individual before outwardly expressing any kind of opinion. Sometimes a person's allegiance can be hard to identify or be masking entirely, in such matters Yun treats people with caution but will attempt to undermine them if proved a threat.
Yun takes trust as a serious business and will not leave fate into a known conniving individual, unless he's already given up or has an ulterior motive. Although Yun holds nearly everything about him privy and keeps secrets like hidden blades, he's a passionate person who'll present others with respect and loyalty if they're shown to withstand it. This man is not an actor nor will he rely on it, Yun will lie and he'll do it for what he believes is right, even if its not entirely just. His actions may spark longtime feuds with people who are innately trusting, honourable or forgiving in nature, not that he'll blame you for it.
A good trait Yun possesses is that he's keenly observant and will use what he can immediately assume, to draw good or bad characteristics to a person he's speaking or combating against, the latter is much harder then the former however. Yun will likely place more trust and expectation in a openly honest or kingly individual, this is due to most people who present such aspects are easier to understand or serve under. A trait which he expects most Shihoin to hold, even if they may downplay this mindset with their actions or words.
Going back to lying for a moment, he will use this both to seem weaker or idiotic in combat and will exploit any situation if required. Yun at times will lie not only to others around him but himself as well, an attribute to Yun that might make certain fights or challenges in life much harder to overcome, like loss or betrayal. Yun may seem strong willed or utterly ruthless, but this may be confused for his sometimes stubborn temper or fragile ego, this quirk is extremely similar to many members of the Feng clan which Yun fiercely loathes.
-Powers-
Fighting Style:
Swift and cruel, Yun executes his actions with analytical tenacity, if he cannot follow through a successful surprise attack then overwhelming the opponent into submission may be the immediate next course of action. If the opponent is proving too strong or Yun is placed with an extremely harsh disadvantage, fleeing is likely what he'll turn to before any signs of exhaustion kicks in, choosing to maybe set up traps or lead them into a false sense of security is a reliable tactic that could be used. Yun is the type of fighter who would prefer to knock out an opponent promptly before it can escalate.
During class 8, expect Yun to utilise hakuda and small tricks with throwing weapons to either distract or confuse his enemy by misdirecting them into more favourable positions, his overall strength is low so he'll take advantage of his height and speed to slice tendons or joints of the opponent, if they're around his level of strength anyway.
At higher levels of strength, Yun will utilise tools like kunai or explosives when out of close combat range. Distancing himself if its a stronger opponent or luring them into pre-made traps, tricking his opponent like using his right hand where the rogue is actually left handed, could lead a faster execution of the enemy if the timing is done right.
When utilising his shikai, Yun is more aggressive with his attacking but still utilises underhanded tactics in addition to whatever he can use to claim an advantage against an opponent. Relying on Musei-Ho to either cover great ground or stay hidden in heavy rural or urban areas, utilising Shadow's Shadow to either misdirect an opponent away from real dangerous attacks or switch his real zanpakuto between fakes that is coated in Shadow's Venom to create opportunities to hinder the opponent without relying on a single one-time sneak attack, even though this requires alot of skill. Whenever required to carry objects or VIPs (in bankai), Shadow Tag is a great technique that can help with both combat encounters with specialised equipment as well as search and rescue missions.
At the bankai release, Yun utilises all shikai techniques with their full purpose: Musei-Ho can be used to sneak onto opponent's shadows to deal severe damage while Shadow's Shadow can be used to greatly misdirect and confuse the enemy in dark lighted enviroments, all the while Shadow's Venom can be utilised to void away an enemies' pool of reiatsu to make long lasting fights a real fatal mistake, whereas Shadow Tag can now be used in full effectiveness. Rushing Daemon would be used to set up traps or create a harder time for the opponent in direct one to one (or many vs many) combat while Hidden Daemon can be used as both a last ditch escape attempt or perfect trap for a dumb opponent.
In conclusion, Yun will always attempt to quickly and silently end the life from an enemy as soon as possible to lessen potential witnesses or complete the job in short time. While this would usually work on opponents of little importance, he's no stranger to using anything and everything he has on hand to complete a job. This can range from setting up traps beforehand to surprise a chasing foe, using homemade poisons to incapacitate them within safe confinement, give a stronger opponent a sense of false security by looking weak, create distractions to hinder a foe's ability to concentrate and the list goes on. Yun's overall style in a tasked job incorporates planning, preparation as well as a lot of skill, this approach to fighting is evolved when the use of his releases are in play.
Zanapkutou Release Names
Shikai name: "Asobu..." (Fool Around) Gihenkao = "Deceiver's Face" (Gihen + Kao)
Bankai name: "Damasu, Korosu" (Trick and Murder) Giheniku = "Deceiver's Flesh" (Gihen + Niku)
Zanpakutou Spirit Appearance:
{Shikai appearance}
An almost carbon copy of Yun with a smiling or frowning mask, Gihenkao is everything of his owner but sports a far bloodthirstier and crude personality, choosing to relish in murder and spout quips that'll make a saint beet red. Due to his weak spiritual pressure, Yun cannot force or control his spirit directly and must usually bare with its antics while in everyday society, a possible reason why his resting face is angrier the stronger he gets. Although called a 'deceiver' and acts in a very forced manner, Gihenkao is the most truthful to the wielder in every way, it at times would soften their demeanour and show a very childish outlook on a situation.
Giheniku, his true form, has a different appearance entirely. Albeit in a far more simple form, this talking piece of [redacted] will earn its own full description once bankai has been achieved.
Inner World:
{Reference images}
Gihenkao's residence is styled after a large traditional japanese mansion filled with maze-like rooms and corridors stretching a unknown amount of land. If Yun would ever explore the outside portions of this house, he'd be met with a large wall spanning equal length around this giant building where the only exit, a colossal sized wooden entrance gate is sealed shut entirely. Upon the act of scaling this wall, you will be met with an endless climb up a ceaselessly growing stone wall or being denied flying with a deathly heavy weight against your attempt, this world has its rules and shouldn't be broken for your own good.
Taking your attention back to the mansion itself, its rooms are usually well spaced and hold all manner of trinkets or baubles like darumas or lavishly crafted fans up for display. Each room unique and memorable even within this winding, seemingly endless mansion when traversing from room to room, the deeper you go will only confuse you more. This is all fact if you're given the full trust of Gihenkao himself, otherwise all of these sights are probably locked away against you. Most people are treated to tattered renditions of outer rukongai house rooms, seemingly all the same with similar sword cuts damaging the walls while blood stains littering the drab wooden decor, the world itself clearly rejects your existence entirely.
For Yun who is this zanpakuto's owner, he's always brought to a random room each time he drops into this twisted world. Traversing through a room would often generate a mirrored version of the current room, any items taken from previous rooms will vanish once eye-contact is lost from them entirely, all the while a sense of endless eyes peering from behind will creep up through your skin, the voice of Gihenkao reverberates through the heads of its residents, friend or foe. Gihenkao's grip on this world is nigh unshakeable since this is a part of himself, though his true 'physical' body is somewhere inside this world, possibly the heart of it all.
Zanpakutou Appearances:
{Sealed and Shikai reference image}
{Bankai reference image}
Sealed - Gihenkao's appearance is that of a shirasaya style katana, both the tsuka (hilt) and Saya (sheath) are black in colour in addition to lacking most features of a regular katana. While the sword wears the golden collar to secure the sheath with the weapon, there is no distinct tsuba (guard) attached beside it, this creates a very simplistic designed katana. The 1 metre long sword has a blade to hilt ratio of 3:2, a rough 60 cm and 40 cm respectively. The sword's sheath and hilt comprise of mostly wood under a smooth black painted finish, a distinct black that hides even the retaining pegs which keep the hilt affixed onto the blade itself.
The blade to this weapon is slightly curved upward, with a long stretched indented blood groove on the opposite side of the sharpened edge, the temper line from the sword is reminiscent of a sea's sandy bottom that slightly follows the katana's folding pattern, which can remind oneself of smooth waves. The weapon maintains a total light weight of 1.2 kg, including a gradual profile taper starting from the blade's spine, this allows a sharper and easier cut in some expense for easy chipping, the sealed state of Gihenkao is designed more to slash than pierce. Typically, this sword is worn across Yun's back, the hilt pokes out from his right side shoulder.
Shikai - Once the name of Gihenkao is uttered, the sword secretes a shadowed mist that covers its entirely from its sheath. The transformation of the sword is complete once Yun swings the mist away to reveal the blade, which now sports a slight murky dark blue hue from its two blades, both of their folding patterns shift and slither slowly like a calm wave endlessly.
The most notable change to the weapon is that the handle of the 'sealed' state now carries a tanto within it, cutting the main sword's handle length to 30 cm. When this tanto is sheathed, the handle colouration and superb fitting wont create any rattling, noticeable gap or accidental drawing since its collar secures the blade and small sheath together tightly. This tanto has a handle length of 10 cm, a straight blade length of 20 cm with a ending distal taper that makes this tanto a deadly piercing weapon. All fittings from the main katana is applied to this same weapon. A reason on how this knife can fit inside the katana without much change is due to the katana's already short nakago (tang) design, this fish body arrangement allows a blade to be fitted alongside the slightly one sided tang.
Bankai - Upon revealing Giheniku's true name and release, the shadowed mist that once covered his blades from the sheath erupts violently from them once again, swallowing Yun's entire frame and blades whole. Generating a sphere of shadow, all it takes to crumble this orb is a single touch, where a man wearing the skin of a deceiver and projecting no shadow is standing before his target. A body completely dyed a vantablack colour with his near identical dual blades resting within his hands or temporary sheaths at his waist.
While this dark mist clouds the entirety of Yun's lower half, cloths and tsuka. The length of both blades come at a combined 90 cm of both tsuka and blade, the once small tanto now clearly identical in colour and length (70 cm for blade, 20 cm for handle). The only noticeable difference to either is the blade long taper for both weapons, the previous tanto still ending with a distal taper while the first katana forming a profile taper.
Overall Ability:
"I have no mind or a soul. I've been eternally attached since man's dawn. My kind disappear on and off, to everyone I accompany them to their death, and buried with them, then I hide away when the casket shuts. What am I?"
Life time companion, a fate between another, the passage of time, a rising power from the underbrush, a sweeping plague of death, a clouding blindness, a mask from the truth, a passed loved one, the naked truth of yourself, a growing family and a passing legacy left by your predecessors; A shadow is beside, overshadowing or within you in these instances. Yun is granted, through his release, the power to embody a shadow's strength to ward away enemies or protect close ones, this can be shown by gaining the physicality of a shadow for a time, using shadows as leverage to move faster, to curse his enemies with cuts that never heal, to shroud the senses with a creeping venom. It comes to understanding however, that his true ability will never be reached with his level of spiritual pressure normally, thus his first release may imitate these traits until bankai is achieved, where the embodiment of a shadow is truly possible.
"Only one color, never one size. Stuck at the bottom, yet easily flies. A friend in the sunshine, at home in the rain. Doing no harm and feeling no pain. What am I?"
Shikai Overall Ability:
Gihenkao - A shadowed imitation, partially whole but solely incomplete. The main power of Gihenkao is to grant both Yun's body and wears (this includes the physical body of Gihenkao and clothing he dons), the ability to phase through all matter for a small time of 2 posts after activation. Borrowing the physicality of a shadow does not change Yun's appearance or generate a substance once anything passes through his person or blade, anyone attacking the rogue would likely feel their body or equipment pass through solid nothing; however Yun does feel a small pressure whenever something passes through (or still inside) him, this helps with timing if he decides to shut the ability off prematurely but can easily misread the feeling since it's subtle and would likely require some concentration to utilise effectively.
To start this ability, Yun must cover his targeted area with reiatsu and will Gihenkao's influence to activate (this does not mean a verbal or physical signal is required), this can be seen as a black coloured reiatsu coating said area if you possess some level of energy sensory. This skill requires some level of structural awareness of the targeted area in addition to physical contact of Yun's person, if the target loses physical contact from Yun then the ability is imminently shut off and it is reverted back to the condition prior activation of the ability, in a physical state. The only exception to that rule is Gihenkao's zanpakuto body itself where Yun's reiatsu is intrinsically linked with, meaning the 2 post countdown still continues or Yun can shut off the ability prematurely by will, a signal can speed this process up.
The act of turning intangible means no physical force can harm Yun or his zanpakuto, no matter how physically damaging an attack is. This does not mean Yun is completely invulnerable to all attacks, an attack from a person's Reiatsu Strength or Spiritual Pressure that is two times (2x) stronger then Yun's current Reiatsu Strength can openly deny the effects of Gihenkao by clashing their own reiatsu with Yun's own, effectively cancelling out the ability. While intangible, energy based attacks can still injure Yun directly.
The cost of turning intangible depends entirely on the amount Yun covers with his reiatsu, a list can be shown here:
Entire body - 250
Single body part (each) - 50
Clothing is automatically counted into this, items (this includes throwing weapons, but not large weapons like a katana) concealed inside count as clothing too.
+
Zanpakuto (each) - 25
Yun can still grasp and handle Gihen even while himself or the weapon is intangible in addition to directly choosing to make the handle of Gihen intangible or not upon activation. This quirk is prevalent in both states.
Note: Even when this ability is up, Yun still casts a shadow and Yun's physical skin shows no change to in colour, only colouration of reiatsu when peering at it with energy sensory. To see the skill occur via energy sensory, you must have at least 50 in the stat if you're 2 classes above, 100 for the same class or 1 above, 150 if you're 1 class below while 200 if you're 2 classes below. 300 energy sensory if you're 3 classes under and below.
Bankai Overall Ability:
Giheniku - The true name of a shadow. In the flesh, the immediate difference from his first release is Yun's physical appearance, lack of a shadow and spirit colour. Yun's flesh, nails, bones, hair, clothes and Giheniku's handles are coloured pure vantablack while his visible spiritual pressure gains a deep azure outline. At this stage, Gihen's power can be fully realised through Yun's body with some small physical strain when first released, the duration for intangibility has increased to 3 posts after activation. Giheniku's ability reiatsu cost is the same when targeting his own frame, zanpakuto and clothing.
(Look to Shikai Overall Ability for Yun's body part reiatsu costs.)
The phasing properties of Giheniku is roughly the same in execution, applying a layer of Yun's own reiatsu to an area and willing the ability to complete its transformation. The feeling of phasing for both Yun and his opponent is still the same, no changes to the drawbacks either of this, he can still willingly shut off his power altogether or individual body parts with more concentration. This skill still requires the rogue's physical touch.
The act of turning intangible means no physical force can harm Yun or his zanpakuto, no matter how physically damaging an attack is. This does not mean Yun is completely invulnerable to all attacks, an attack from a person's Reiatsu Strength or Spiritual Pressure that is three times (3x) stronger then Yun's current Reiatsu Strength can openly deny the effects of Gihenkao by clashing their own reiatsu with Yun's own, effectively cancelling out the ability. While intangible, energy based attacks can still injure Yun directly.
Kage no ishin/Shadow's Prestige (Passive) - Yun's inner and outer reiatsu reacts to its surroundings, it now behaves as active camouflage and attempts to match the reishi, reiyoku or reiatsu signature around itself in an attempt to blend in, this trait happens automatically as well as helps greatly in hiding Yun's reiatsu in and out of combat, even when his physical appearance can still be easily seen in broad daylight. The requirement to notice Yun's reiatsu when Energy Sensory is 300 for classes above his own while 400 for the same class, 500 for classes below his own. If you possess the Anti-Stealth skill, being at the 2nd rank will cut this requirement by 1/2 while at 3rd will reduce the requirement to 50 ES, this trait is active even if intangibility is not active, but cannot be shared with targets who are also intangible. Use of non-release abilities temporarily negates this ES shroud, like channeling kido.
Zanpakuto Techniques:
Technique Name: Musei-Ho (Soundless Strides)
Release Level: Shikai/Bankai
Technique Description and Effects:
Cost: 150 starting cost, 50 for upkeep
Shadows can reach nearly impossible areas, they don't produce any sound when stretching nor become hindered from simple physical limitations, a shadow is one with darkness that is oppose to light. This technique allows movement through hard to reach areas quickly, at first release this skill is primarily used as an escape tool but its true power shines during Bankai, where Yun fully masters his connection with shadows. Yun's puddle form gives an increase to base movement speed by 25%, stealth is boosted due to no sound emitted from its small form even when moving and can be very robust, but malleable so it can form fit complex or smaller shaped shadows then its size.
By covering his entire body with a thin layer of reiatsu and seeping it to the bone, Yun can crawl into and merge his frame with his own shadow to cross vast distances without making a single sound (Yun can still speak outloud which can give his position away) or have much physical limitations to worry about, being in second release skips the initial step. Yun becomes a metre in diameter puddle of darkness inside a shadow similar in look like moving paint on a blank canvas, Yun's blob can be seen apart from shadows depending on how strong the light level is within the area that changes the shadow's gradient, this can limit how much the blob can stretch through gaps or it's top speed. At shikai state, the rogue can only traverse through connected shadows, leaving movement very hard in very bright areas with not many overlapping shadows. In Bankai, Yun can teleport from one shadow to another when in this shadow puddle state, the size of the shadow matters in terms of teleport locations and what body parts can form out of the puddle state, the range of this feature is 50 feet at maximum.
Noticeable drawbacks is that Yun can be damaged with reiatsu based attacks in the puddle state even when the overall ability is active. When light is applied to shadowed areas that he is in, Yun can be dragged along viciously by the sudden shift of shadows or can be forcefully ripped out in the rare circumstance that the shadow is eliminated entirely, he will suffer severe damage this way. If Yun is in the midst of cancelling out this ability and return to a more human state while the shadow is being eliminated, he suffers very minor damage.

This technique is one of Yun's most simplest yet deadliest in long-winded combat, if he can holdout for that long that is. By clouding his reiatsu over either or both zanpakuto blades, Yun can imbue these swords with the power to numb and distort his enemy's senses, both physical and spiritual (the latter develops once in Bankai). This occurs by parts of the imbued reiatsu fragments from the edge of Gihen upon a successful attack, where it enters the enemy's bloodstream or reiatsu pool in an attempt to partially cripple and distort the opponent's 5 senses.
The poison in first release requires several cuts or stabs applied on a certain limb to exhibit the venom's symptoms. These symptoms grow in intensity by order of slight numbness in joints (2nd cut), small pain in joins when moving (4th cut), numbness of pain and unawareness of limb's state unless looking at it (6th cut) and finally to severe lack of movement from unresponsive limbs (8th cut), the poison mostly effects the specific limb but eventually travels towards the brain (starting 10th cut on same limb), where senses like eyesight, smell, hearing and taste progresses in a similar way without the need of cutting the targeted area.
In bankai state, this shrouding venom effects the use of reiatsu within the target, they will lose 100 reiatsu per 10 Reiatsu Strength they have (5th cut) per post. They'll lose 200 reiatsu per 10 points of Reiatsu Strength they possess (9th cut) per post. The drawbacks are very simple to understand, poison resistance will lengthen the amount of cuts required for the symptoms to show up (x0.5 for each rank, rounded down if odd) whereas high strength characters, starting from those who have strength 2 times higher then Yun's RS, can slowly will the reiatsu poison out of their body during combat, every post regresses the state of poison by two cut "intervals", for example 4th cut will revert to the 2nd cut. If a strength stat is 3 times higher then Yun's RS, then the regressing is doubled in effectiveness.

Technique Name: Kage no Kage (Shadow's Shadow)
Release Level: Shikai/Bankai
Technique Description and Effects:
Cost (In reiatsu):
Single body part (Shikai) - 50
Single body part (Bankai) - 25
Full clone (Bankai only) - 100
Note: Zanpakuto is copied as long as the technique starts and completes with the weapon on hand
Imbuing parts of his body with reiatsu, Yun can form false copies of his body parts and zanpakuto with partial automaty through pre-written commands before creation. These copies at the shikai level can only imitate Yun's body movements or simple commands like "Swing arm towards ****" or "Turn head forward with pained expression", the bankai level allows Yun to detach himself from up to 5 fully body clones that bare his resemblance, they have very limited understanding, can be used as microphones for Yun if both are standing on the same shadow and always commit to a singular pre-written goal no matter what Yun says or does to counteract it. Yun can generate multiple of the same body part.
The physical sight of clones or body parts is simple to imagine, lets say Yun imbues his right arm while it holds the large version of Gihenkao while in first release. The skin and blade exudes a mist that clouds and wraps around the limb, hiding the cloning process until the mist rips into two, where a simple swipe of the limb can rid the mist away, forming a near perfect double. Yun can switch his zanpakutos with another arm during this process.
These make excellent body doubles to either misinform an opponent or be used as a fake target so Yun can quickly exploit on a created chance. The drawbacks to this skill are numerous: These copies do not create a shadow so they can be easily spotted out in shikai state within a lighted environment if the opponent is observant, their limited understand can create misinformed pre-written commands that could backfire their intended purpose whenever Yun feels deeply stressed, they do not possess any kind of physical capability and only dissipate into nothingness after a strong physical clash with no backfire damage to either side, the clones cannot utilise any zanpakuto technique of Yun other then possess the Kage no Ishin passive if Yun was in bankai state before creating them, they can easily be spotted out via energy sensory if Yun hasn't activated the main ability of Gihen (due to the entire copy being created out of his own reiatsu, it's harder to notice when Kage no Ishin is active but great observation of body movements can counteract this).

Technique Name: Kashifumi (Shadow Tag)
Release Level: Shikai/Bankai
Technique Description and Effects:
Cost: target's weight - 1lbs = 1 reiatsu (target's weight is used as a substitute for mass)
Even a shadow knows it's good to share, since everyone else also has a shadow, so they can be seen as distant cousins from the same origin or something, almost. Kage no Jizen is an extension of Gihen's main ability: intangibility. By covering the target's body with his reiatsu and willing it the seep into the material, Yun can allow it to gain the properties of phasing. This requires physical contact and the participant's consent can help speed up the technique faster, inanimate objects or unaware participants are exempt from the latter requirement.
At Shikai, only non-sentient objects can be transformed. At Bankai, sentient creatures (this includes humans, hellspawn, hollows, bounts, etc.) or objects that can utilise reiatsu can be turned intangible, this is due to the potential conflict of reiatsu within another being can clash with Yun's ability and effectively break the ability. Targets that have more then twice the amount of Reiatsu Strength or Spiritual Pressure of Yun's own RS can contest the ability when it is noticed, failing or allowing the ability to connect will give the participant the ability to phase through solid matter, this ability is cancelled once physical contact with Yun is severed. The passive of Kage no Ishin does not transfer to the target and they must use their own stealth ability to remain physically or spiritually unseen.

Technique Name: Jizoku-tekina itami: Suiki (Lasting Laceration: Rushing Daemon)
Release Level: Bankai
Technique Description and Effects:
Cost: 100 upon initiating, 50 per post for upkeep.
The effect of this technique activates once Yun has successfully either sliced or pierced an opponent with Giheniku. By injecting some of his reiatsu and/or willing nearby reishi into the wound while its being created can force open the injury and halt any bodily healing via regeneration or healing kido, this tech requires his reiatsu to initiate the process but relying on reishi later on to keep the wound open within spirit planes is easier to use when in a high tension combat scenario but will shorten the time before healing can once again start.
To assist in maintaining focus while in combat, Yun will likely initiate this technique just before attacking an opponent and continue upkeep with reiatsu until the encounter ends. A simple yet potentially fatal technique that doesn't uses poison, it still possesses some drawbacks: People with 2x higher offensive stat then Yun's own will shorten the effect by 1/2, this tech does possess a base 20 post cycle limit until effects wear down completely. Another slightly situational drawback includes the area of combat itself, if the world possesses little amounts of reishi (the human world is a distinct example), then the 20 base post cycle is reduced to a starting 15.

Technique Name: Shin'en resshō: Ongyōki (Abyssal Laceration: Hidden Daemon)
Release Level: Bankai
Technique Description and Effects:
Cost: 100 upon initiating, 50 per post for upkeep.
When Yun activates this technique, Giheniku's blade sides and edge excrete while congealing a type of black ink-like across the moving or still folding patterns that decorate the weapons, the sticky substance cover its entirety but never drip a drop even when one is dangerously close to falling. This is Gihen's only semi-projectile based technique. The effect starts once physical contact occurs to the substance developed by the weapon, Yun can slash towards an opponent or object and splash lines of this liquid across them.
The black liquid seeps through the surface of the material while leaving the entrance painted black, the feeling of something opposing invades and seeps deep into your core, through clothing, if left uncontested. The substance creates areas where the target turns intangible and physical feeling to the area is lost until substance is removed, this liquid can be used to blind the opponent in addition to Giheniku's blades can still make contact with the splashed areas only when they are intangible as well. While this technique can go through clothing and can be be initiated along with Suiki and Kage no Doku, the drawbacks are numerous: The liquid can seep through up to 50 feet in depth but the technique will only activate once it has travelled as far as it can, this delay can help with confusing an opponent, the liquid cannot flow past intangible objects that were produced through this ability but the liquid pass through areas created by the overall ability or Shadow Tag even when Yun and Gihen are intangible themselves, the opponent must spend 1 reiatsu per RS Yun has to negate the effects of this ability if the opponent's highest offensive stat is not at least 2 times Yun's own RS and if the latter is true, the cost is reduced to .25 reiatsu per RS Yun has. This substance's effect is the only technique that can effect Yun's physical body if he is not careful. The duration of the effect lasts 10 post cycles, if the opponent's Spiritual Pressure is double Yun's Reiatsu Strength then the duration is cut in half.

History:
WARNING! THIS HISTORY CONTAINS GRAPHIC CONTENT AND SHOULD BE READ WITH THE UNDERSTANDING OF THIS!
The Feng clan, a large bodied minor noble house who have served the Shihoin for centuries. Their renowned ability with shunpo and war or assassination techniques create some of the best shadows that serve their master clan, while at the same time most notable mercenaries dotted across the Rukongai are said to carry old Feng Clan blood. This is due to the tradition which created the stereotype that all Feng members are either stuck-up nobles or human tools for killing.
That tradition is, Feng exiles all children who do not pass either their scholar test or shadow test every 40 years. This was to create both unrivalled political or ceremonial students and bodyguard or warrior students respectively, for a multitude of uses. due to the pair of tests maintaining a steady 50% percent success rate, the entire clan becomes extremely competitive against one another to see which branch has the strongest or smartest generation. The best are naturally given time to study within the main Feng branch, which is located the closest to the Shihoin, there the children are more likely to be hired as clan bodyguards or servants.
Yun's pedigree lied strictly within the shadow classes for decades of his early life, power and technique taught from his stern father while adaptability and skill was taught from his loving mother. Both parents were masters of their own craft, his father a Rukongai headhunter who sought against roguish individuals of rivalling clans who tried to profit over the poorer folk, earning the moniker "Crimson Serpent" from the blood streaks that lined past the twin swords he danced with on many battlefields. Yun's mother, a caring but conniving vixen who tempted corrupt officials and naive crime lords to death with her personal close quarter skills. Both parents used poison to kill their foes in addition to being extremely proficient in their lines of work, giving Yun the nickname "poison child" when his skills and feats were relevant and growing steadily.
Yun focused on hakuda further then any subject he practised, a skill his very father introduced him too and later his mother gave advice about during the sparse days they were at home. Yun was left up to his own devices during his early years, home schooled by some of Feng's best teachers with his cousins that would come often. Yun was an only child, this left him extremely isolated within his age bracket due to them hating him from the near offset, they were mostly jealous of a praised child and hindered his ability to concentrate when taught under these teachers. Usually the kids would hide or destroy Yun's work material and disrupt him during class time, every instance he complained or attempted to stand up for himself, he was required to forward evidence and was reprimanded for loosing work material or speaking amidst class. During this time in his life, Yun's father passed away and left Meihui with her son alone in the world, the serpent died from a group of hollows where no one came to back him up.
The stress from bullying by his classmates coupled with the pain of loosing a family member really sent Yun over the edge, tales of the child almost killing his cousins with lead poisoning or hakuda ruined his already still image and created a void between his mother. Meihui was a Feng first and a mother second, that's what most assassins were taught to uphold, so the thought of her little boy ruining other members of his very generation left her deeply disappointed, especially when the child started to stop attending classes and pursue training as a lifetime job. During this period of self teaching, Meihui died after an accident when pursuing a famous pirate left her taking turns with all of the pirate's crew, stories of her broken and used body within an ocean of dead sea men invokes a dark twist of irony or a lesson regarding how dangerous the denizens of Rukongai always are. Both living legends now dead, their legacy stretched all across the Rukongai for centuries while some citizens still claim they exist much like other fabled warriors to this day.
Death of both parents left Yun under the care of many uncles and aunts, none would truly claim ownership of a feral child which the boy had become and younger cousins will become scared of the stories surrounding the troubled teenager, calling him a boogeyman. This constant decade long problem ended with one of his father's brothers, a distant uncle personally invited the child after hearing the disgusting stories how Yun's closer relatives treated him. He was reduced to a literal animal at this point in time, most studies long forgotten had ruined his mental capability of language and math. This problem Uncle Da Jian willingly sought to change, since his own family was rather well-off when compared to ability and scholarly prowess. Uncle cared for Yun and re-educated him enough so he could pass the writing and speaking tests for the shadow class exams, private one-to-one studying was the only way this information stuck inside the belligerent teen.
Took years to pull off and barely made it, Yun passed the Feng shadow class at the age of 68. Too young to attempt the previous class and a certain decade long absence killed most of his previous studies. In truth, the entire test was passable by physical prowess alone but Da Jian never trusted the odds of investing time into only one thing, this kind of understanding reflected how Yun would shape his future abilities; with cunning, quick-thinking and immense physical ability.
The closest problem was out of the way, but much of Yun's future prospects still looked grim. Most branch members of Feng would cease any involvement with the boy after a couple of weeks and work for him was going to be extremely hard since all someone within the clan didn't want the child to grow relations and become stronger within the clan, apprenticeships or work experience was very limited and working within for Rukongai citizens was tantamount to suicide since any clan could now get a grasp on Yun that way. It was clear that Yun's past image was seen as a stain on an otherwise clear or perfect record for the current generation of Feng. It got to a point where Uncle's own family started to turn on Yun, his own bed was layered with nails and notes of aggression.
This didn't stop Da Jian however, if he couldn't get help from people close or below his status, he'll appease and beg a higher being. The Shihoin answered his message, for a price. Rumours of a off-the-books practice match with Da Jian against a [redacted] member of the [redacted] clan spread within a certain part of the Seireitei. Da Jian's prowess with a blade wasn't the greatest with irreparable damage to his organs and loss of an arm an understandable ending result of his physical body, the match? -Yun was able to work for the Shihoin's servant corps for many decades until his ability naturally lead him into the Onmitsukidō after stories of his parents resurfaced.
Yun has served the Shihoin for over a century and only until recently was his incessant practising of hakuda and studying finally earned him a place within the greatest stealth unit within the Seireitei, his position as a servant is still ongoing while his outlook on life and previous wild personality has changed drastically. Wishing for more action then just training has left him to look into other races that inhabit earth and his morbid curiosity is growing larger by each page he reads about them. Only Hollows, Arrancar and Hellspawn leave a distinctly revolting taste within his mouth each time he learns more about these races.
