"Great, another night where I refuse to sleep." said Musuhina, rubbing her tired eyes as she copied the words from whatever medical texts she could find in the remainder of the old squad 4's archives. Pages upon pages of old texts and copied pages littered desk as the shadows that the candle dimly projected bounced rhythmically along them, eliciting a faint amount of envy from her. For Musuhina, there weren't exactly any days off, whether it was patients in squad 4's rooms or any member of the estate that entered her office at any time of day with whatever emergency that they would come with, she always had some kind of work to do. With that in mind, she always patted herself on the back for pretty much making her office her room at the same time, with a small futon stuffed away in the corner next to her desk while all of her medical equipment and books were stashed away in several places along the floor and shelves. And of course, there was what the screen door behind her that led out to her own small garden that she had to maintain herself, feeling a bit guilty for giving the gardeners and landscapers more work than they already had with this huge estate.
Shinku Ko, her zanpakuto, was always at her side, even when she wasn't on duty as a shinigami. She'd always kept him leaned on either the side of her desk when she was studying even further into the medical arts or just behind her when she was seeing one of the estate employees or family members. But sometimes she wish she could enlist him to help her somehow; getting her a glass of water, running around the estate to create some entertainment out of whatever chaos he could start up....just anything really. Then again...its not like she didn't have to copy all of these records tonight. Maybe she could afford to hold it off and focus on it some other time. And then she turned her attention to the sliding door behind her, noticing how the beams of moonlight struggled to shine through as the light from her candle fought against it.
Musuhina decided to grab Shinku Ko before walking over to the screen door, making sure to blow out the candle first. As she opened the door, the light from the full moon in the cloudless sky poured through her room, almost as if it was trying to push its way inside. As she stepped out into her garden, she took in the scenery of her work as the light displayed her creations almost perfectly. She could see the morning dew start to form on the grass as the little lights that shimmered off of them caught her eye. From there she could also see some of her projects; the roses that were green in color from her experimentation of bioreishi. Even before she'd seen records and texts about bioreishi, she'd taken to growing roses for the sake of fun, but since then her curiosity of the concept of what bioreishi was lead her to experiment on them a while back. Not to mention it was something that interested her enough to delve a bit further into it as well, but that project that she'd stored away in her room was more of a long term goal more than anything.
In any case, she took Shinku Ko out of his scabbard and decided to practice a little bit in her swordsmanship. Granted she wasn't exactly capable with it, but in time, she could actually be pretty good if she was able to cut something beyond grass and plants. Thankfully she was also trying to develop a little something just for that problem, something that would not only allow her to fight more effectively, but it would also complement her fighting style perfectly. Of course, it was still in the planning stages and wasn't anywhere near ready as it was now. Who knows, maybe she could even be considered a sizable threat someday, as far from reality as it was now, she could feel that the potential for it was there, she just had to find a way to draw it out.
As she began swinging her zanpakuto, Musuhina tried to move as fluidly as she could. Step by step, she worked her entire body into every movement as her sword cut through the still air like an invisible sheet of cloth. Her body twisted and and turned like water as she moved with grace, dancing with Shinku Ko as their movements guided each other. Over the course of her dance, she switched Shinku Ko between her hands in an attempt to not only allow her to flow better, but to also work in the feeling that she could use her zanpakuto in either hand instead of just relying on her right.
After a small amount of acrobatics added in, Musuhina wiped the sweat from her forehead, putting Shinku Ko back in his scabbard as she walked back inside. Feeling tired enough, she'd decided to do something a little bit more important before finally turning in for the night. Sitting down on her little folded up mattress that even she hesitated to call a bed, she moved a small piece of the wall off to the side to retrieve a small muddy pot with a lotus bud inside. Sitting it gingerly in her lap, Musuhina placed one hand on the bottom of the pot and the other just above the bud. She gained a warm smile before beginning the same process she'd practiced for the past few weeks.
Closing her eyes, a faint light started coming from her hands as she started singing in a low voice, trying her best not to wake the other inhabitants of the estate up. The aura from her hands were weak at first, but as she continued her song, they continued to grow with the hushed tone, mirroring the warmth and sincerity in her voice. The aura wrapped around the pot before sinking into the dirt while the hand above gently showered onto the small lotus as it drank whatever it could catch while the rest sank into the mud for it's roots to take later.
Eventually, the little lullaby she sang ended while the aura faded. Upon opening her eyes, Musuhina felt a jolt of excitement as the lotus's petals stretched out just a little bit. Even if it were a little, her project had finally started showing progress after all of the reiatsu she'd poured into it. This would only encourage her to do it more, even if she did start feeling more exhausted than before. Barely able to stay awake for much longer, she placed the lotus back into it's little home before putting Shinku Ko under her pillow and finally passing out, looking forward to starting a new day with more of a spring in her step than usual.
