Name: Amare Mori (Ah-mar-ae Mor-ee)
Age: 19
Blood Type: B-
Fighting Style: Amare’s got a bit of an interesting combat style. He’s dabbled in a couple of martial arts including Eskrima, Krav Maga, Boxing and Judo. As a result of a number of street fights he’s also picked up a bit of Bojutsu (staff fighting) as well. To sum up his combat style in one word, the word you’d look for would likely be “flexible.” His combat style is based around not being tied down by handicaps or problems, and finding the proper solution to any problem. He treats combat like a game of chess, planning each and every move in advance. When he makes a move, it’s an opening for half a dozen more, and he’s already anticipating an opponent’s response to it. When an opponent strikes, he tries to consider all the possible counters to it, and the counters to THAT, and takes the best possible response based on that.
In short, you could also consider his fighting style to be very intellectual. He analyzes an opponent to death, and as a result, his combat style tends to be somewhat defensive. He fights primarily with counterattacks, evading or blocking an opponent’s blow and striking back with those of his own. To this end, his hand to hand style favors his Judo heavily, as judo is based on using an opponent’s momentum against them. Amare holds a 2nd degree black belt in the style, and is very good on picking out openings to use his judo attacks. As far as boxing is concerned, he’s primarily a counter-fighter, as mentioned above. This means he’s extremely good at slipping attacks, and will do so almost reflexively in a fight, dodging a blow by a hair and returning the strike with a high power blow.
Amare’s very good at biology, so you can bet he’s gonna use that to his advantage. When using bladed weapons, in a deathmatch he’s going to aim for various vital points, namely the jugular, aorta, carotid, the lungs, and also the femoral artery, which not many foes will think to defend as preciously. Sure they can make the link between “stab in the leg=bad” but it’s unlikely they’ll realize they can actually die virtually instantly from it. And Amare uses that to his advantage in battle. With his bare hands he also likes going at painful parts of the human anatomy, amplified by his martial training. Liver, kidneys, jaw, temple, ears, solarplexus, are all valid targets, when Amare fights. Hitting these points will inevitably be more effective than wild swings, and so Amare can put his opponents down quickly and easily by striking at these points.
In terms of weapons, he’s decent at stickfighting and knife fighting, and as mentioned above, he’s self-taught himself bojutsu in various streetfights. As a result of being self-taught and based on the principles of his other martial arts, his staff fighting style is somewhat unique, in that he doesn’t seek to keep distance with polearms, but rather goes right into close quarters with them, using the staff to trap limbs and sweep legs, opening foes up to follow-up strikes. His speed in-close is astounding as he can regularly deflect furious blows with surprisingly little reaction time, as he generally has already predicted the blow in advance and has already been moving to deflect it. He typically seeks to disarm a foe as his primary concern, and damage is secondary. Victory is no good if you are going to die as a result of your wounds afterall. Due to this, as well as defensive, his style takes on a flavour of self-preservation.
Amare is very good at utilizing his environment, in fact a lot of his fighting style is based around it. Using anything he can as a weapon, using sand to blind foes, utilizing ground with superior footing to an opponent or maneuvering them towards inferior footing. He’s not above setting traps ahead of time as well, if the battle has been planned, and he’s even used explosives when he can get them. It was through this method he got the hang of his bojutsu, using anything from mop handles, to old pipes like a staff. Of course, with smaller weapons his Eskrima training takes over, and he utilizes lightning fast blows to the opponents wrists and legs to block and injure, jabs at their eyes and throat, and combining them with physical blows or throws.
Due to his Krav Maga, when Amare DOES attack it’s often brutal. He has no problems with fighting dirty, using short, concise blows and brief combinations. Thanks to influences from boxing, he favors punching attacks when striking, and combines them with grappling moves from Judo to obtain dominant positioning when striking. His favourite punch is definitely a hook to the liver, as it can be thrown fairly easily from a clinching position. However, he uses the concepts of Krav Maga as well, attacking the groin, eyes, throat, weaker joints like the fingers, and various pressure points with relentless fury. Since he likes using counters, he’ll often strike at these points as a counterattack, making it much harder to avoid being seriously injured. Examples might be slipping a punch to the outside, and then grabbing the wrist and palm striking the elbow to break the arm.
But we’ve not even started on his Fullbring. Once he unleashes his fullbring, he maintains his defensive fighting style, normally. There are exceptions of course. Against a defensive foe he’ll unleash a powerful offense, counting on his zanpakuto’s power of penetration to pierce through any defence they can muster, and using its length to keep foes at bay. He uses a lot of bojutsu with his Fullbring, so even if a foe can slip past the point of his spear, they’re nowhere near in the clear. As mentioned above he’s even MORE comfortable fighting with polearms at close range. However, he still knows that a spear is most effective with its point, so he’ll often attempt to drive the foe back to a range where he can thrust at them again. He also makes copious use of the buttspike at close range—a feature many overlook, but few live to regret. Although normal attacks with it are difficult if not impossible, Amare can still use quick downward thrusts to impale a foe through the leg or the foot, severely damaging their mobility and enabling him to get away. If he’s fighting to kill, he may even target the femoral artery, causing most foes to bleed out in seconds.
His defensive tactics when using a spear change in a few subtle ways. The most important way is that instead of merely countering, he uses his spear’s reach to his advantage and intercepts attacks. Rushes and sudden lunging attacks, in an attempt to bridge the gap are foolhardy against Amare, as he will use an opponent’s own momentum against them, skewering them as they try to move in. He utilizes quick footwork and misdirection as well, using quick maneuvering to deal with more cautious foes, to get to their sides or even back if his opponents don’t react quickly enough. If they prove capable of keeping up with him, he’ll often use thrusts at their faces to force reactions that will let him accomplish these goals. Even if a foe slips past the thrust and tries to close the distance, he will simply use his close range tactics to either force them back or finish them up close and try again.
Direct attacks aren’t all Amare can do, however. A trick he likes to play on his opponents is to grip the ribbons attached to his Fullbring and then throw it at his opponent. If his opponent doesn’t dodge, they get impaled. If they do dodge, Amare can pull on the ribbon to whip the spear back and stab his opponent’s with the buttspike. He might also throw it between their legs and pull it back, so that the spear will trip them to the ground, allowing Amare to land a finishing blow. Expecting the spear to be the only thing Amare focuses on is a dangerous expectation to hold, indeed.
Really, that’s a big variant in his fighting style. Is he trying to kill or not. Amare always aims to finish a battle with minimum bloodshed, as quickly as possible. It’s just his way. He doesn’t like splattering blood all over the place! To do this he targets critical points of the opponents body. A spear through the head is going to ruin anyone’s day, and end the battle fast, as is a thrust through the heart. But if he’s trying to avoid killing his opponent he’s got other options. He could slice open a tendon to render a limb useless, or use Gae Bulg’s ability to prevent his opponent from adequately defend themselves and beat them with hand to hand attacks! Generally, foes are quite surprised when their cutback or Hierro fails them!
Amare also makes infrequent use of his Side Fullbring, interestingly enough. Why spoil the surprise by revealing it to everyone! Amare also tries to use it subtly when possible. It’s even better if an opponent is confused by what’s happening, and compounds his negation of sight even further! Like his negation of memory, he uses the negation of space offered by his Side Fullbring to disrupt and confuse enemies, making him seem to move much faster than he really is, and creating illusions. This is a very disruptive ability and it can confuse many foes if they don’t realize what is happening.
Amare’s big on teamwork though. He works especially well with women, happily taking to the front lines of the battle to cover them, and make sure no enemy attacks reach them. With guys he tends to be a bit more of an individual, but still will act as a team player. He will often single out opponents that seem to be most effective at supporting their comrades or that will pose problematic for his teammates and target them throughout the battle, letting his teammates deal with the weaker foes. It still is a sharp contrast to his combat style when fighting alongside women, where it’s not unlikely he’ll try to fight multiple opponents at once, to the exclusion of his female comrades in an attempt to both impress them and keep the opponent’s attention off of them.
Speaking of women, Amare can’t fight them. Or rather… won’t fight them. He’s got some kind of code of honor concerning that. Heck, even molestation can’t be a combat style against a female combatant, or maneuvering them into hazardous terrain, as Amare is too chivalrous to let a woman come to harm. In a fight against a female combatant, the best Amare can hope for is to avoid or block her attacks long enough for her to either get bored, or tire his adversary out. Either that or run away. Women are definitely his weak point, as a crafty female opponent might fake being injured. And it’ll work. Even if he suspects it to be faked, Amare’s code of chivalry won’t let him chance the fact that she’s not and he’ll inevitably go to help her. Really, Amare’s only hope of beating a female opponent is to maybe find a way to pin her to a wall or something without hurting her so that he can escape. It’s very, VERY difficult, suffice to say.
Height: 5’9
Weight: 145 lbs
Eye Color: Green
Overall Appearance:
Amare stands at a height of five feet and nine inches. Although his frame isn’t particularly bulky, that works out fine for him, because he can be very fast when he needs to be. Obviously, he wears a lot of different outfits. Who walks around with just one outfit? I mean really. Though he does have a favourite outfit. Two actually! If he’s not expecting any combat, then he likes to wear classy clothing. A white button-up shirt with a proper collar and buttoned cuffs is his favourite shirt. He will often wear this with black dress pants and black dress shoes. A leather belt fits around his waist, and he even occasionally wears a tie with this. He will occasionally wear a dark gray tuxedo over this as well. Other times he’ll wear a long black trenchcoat overtop this instead accompanied by a black hat that conceals his face. Classy’s nice, but the trenchcoat and hat makes him look mysterious and sexy~
His other outfit is commonly worn if he’s expecting some kind of trouble. Heck, sometimes he’ll even wear it under the trenchcoat, though he remarks that it’s a little uncomfortable. The outfit consists of a pair of leather pants, a white T-shirt with the sleeves torn off and a navy blue leather vest. Amare likes to appeal to all the crowds and this one’s his bad-boy outfit! This outfit also features bandages around his forearms. Leather, steel toed boots act as his footwear, and he even wears a small leather belt around one of his legs. Occasionally a combat knife can be seen sheathed there for a little visual intimidation. A pair of fingerless gloves normally adorns his hands, though he also carries a pair of cloth ones that cover his entire hands for reasons detailed below.
When he puts on his full gloves, it shows he’s going to get serious, as he only wears them when he’s seriously planning on drawing blood. If Amare puts on these gloves run. They cover his entire hand, because Amare doesn’t like to get blood on himself, and thus he has these gloves so an opponent’s blood doesn’t cover the fists he used to smash their face in. The gloves are black in color, but a number of spots, especially around the knuckles are stained with a dark red. Stitches cover them as they’ve had to be repaired after Amare has split the fabric after numerous fights. In a sense, these gloves are trophies of Amare’s victories, but also a symbol of his defeats and so he prizes them quite highly.
But even his gloves don’t match the pride Amare has for his scarf. A light gray scarf is often seen around his neck. Some might think it’s only a fashionable accessory, but it means a lot to Amare. It was passed down to him from his grandfather, whom taught Amare so much. As such, Amare prizes this scarf as much as his own life. He shows no shame in flaunting it, and this pride in a simple accessory allows the scarf to act as Amare’s Fullbring (see below).
Ah, but we can’t do an appearance without talking about what Amare himself looks like! We’ve talked about his dimensions and his basic frame, but what about the details? Well, let’s start with the basics. Amare’s got fairly pale skin. It’s not ghost-pale, but it’s a little lighter than most Caucasian skin tones. Another rather unusual feature about him is his navy-blue hair. It runs down to just above his shoulders, with the bangs cut just barely above his eyes. Speaking of those, Amare’s eyes can be quite intriguing. They’re a vivid green in color, a color and trait he’s very proud of. Amare considers his eyes extremely attractive, and one of his finest features.
Amare’s torso sports a 4-pack, and a relatively well defined physique. He’s not wimpy, but neither is he overly bulky. He finds bulky muscles repulsive, afterall. As mentioned above, his build is somewhere around slender, to allow him greater speed in combat. Though without the use of his Fullbring powers, this also means he’s not quite as physically strong. Still, he can put up enough hits that he can make up for it most of the time!
Dislikes:
Blood—It’s a sign of barbarism. Such an unpleasant thing, really.
People who don’t believe in love at first sight—Really? You don’t? Well, as much as I disagree with you I must pity people like you for failing to understand something so wonderful! I find love at first sight every day!
Axes—Such barbaric weapons! Nothing more than application of brute force, designed to cause as much gore as possible.
Clubs—See axes.
Spicy foods—Agh! They’re so hot! How can ANYONE like this!?
Cowards—How do you expect to be able to win your lady’s affection with such unchivalrous actions? Disgraceful!
Harming a woman—Ah… I could never DREAM of doing that! Whoever would lay a hand on a woman is truly scum! Disorderly scum!
Likes:
Lances—Ah! They’re such noble weapons! All the noble warriors in history used them as a primary weapon you know! And they’re clean and efficient. Don’t leave much of a mess afterwards.
Swords—Another weapon of nobility! Graceful and elegant! Although everyone and their mother uses them nowadays….
Chess—It’s a gentleman’s game. The fact that I’m good at it doesn’t factor into this, you understand!
Blue—It’s such a majestic color….
Go—It’s not quite the same as Chess, but it’s not an entirely unpleasant game.
Romance—Ah, it’s such a sweet, sweet thing romance…
Cats—I don’t know. But they like me, so it’s best I return the favor! Plus I adore my little Shamisen!
Flaws:
-Amare cannot fight a woman. He has no possible chance in a fight against one as he cannot bring himself to (deliberately) hurt one.
-Amare also cannot help but help a woman in need. This applies even if they’re faking it. This can be deadly to him, as it makes him, unfortunately, very easy to bait.
Habits:
-Amare has a habit of proclaiming his love to nearly any woman he meets, believing that he has found true love at first sight.
-Analysis—Amare tends to overanalyze things. A lot. He will look at seemingly mundane actions and muse over why something might have happened the way it did, until he reaches a satisfactory explanation.
Fears:
Going crazy-- Amare is terrified of the possibility that he might be going insane. He doesn’t know what’s happening or why he’s seeing the things he’s been seeing, but the thought that he might be crazy scares him. You’ll never attract women if you’re a lunatic! And even if he met the love of his life, to have her repulsed by the fact he's crazy? Well that won't do at ALL!
Goals:
Amare has two goals of note. His most prominent one is to find a lover that will reciprocate his feelings. This can be a real challenge, since his greeting of choice to someone he is attracted to has a tendency to scare people off. But hey. He’ll come across someone like that someday! …Someday….
His second goal is to figure out what is wrong with him. Since he doesn’t believe in ghosts, he is believing that he is going insane. He wants to find out if this is truly the case. And whether it is or not, at the end of the day, Amare wants to find out why he’s seeing and hearing all these things. A hollow outside your window is gonna screw with your perception of the world. Especially when you don’t have a clue what it is, or why nobody else can see it!
Alignment: Chaotic good
Overall Personality: Amare can be quite a character. His personality can vary so much, one may think him bipolar at times. In general, Amare tends to be quite serious. His mind is always working and he is extremely logical about things. He normally doesn’t step into something unless he’s sure about what he’s doing, and has devoted his attention to it. That’s another thing. If Amare says he’s going to do something, it’s going to get done, no matter what. He’s an extremely determined individual and when he sets his mind to a task he devotes all his attention to it.
Speaking of his mind, let’s discuss that a bit. Amare is a very calculating young man. He loves to analyze something and then reanalyze it to death. His mind works very quickly, allowing him to analyze something and then reanalyze it several times in a matter of moments. This means he can be a valuable asset in battle, as he can assess an enemy’s weakness in a fairly short amount of time, after watching very little of what they can do. He can also make assumptions based on what he’s seen, to infer to the scope of an opponent’s powers or abilities.
But he’s not all seriousness. Amare, in fact, is mainly serious so often because he thinks it’s cool. Amare loves the idea of just being cool. Hell, that’s where the trenchcoat in the appearance section comes from. Amare likes to do things, because he thinks they might make him come off as impressive or a badass. If it’ll result in that, he’ll do it. Oddly though, he’s not much for stunts. Stunts make you come off as show-offy and really trying for attention. The best way to get attention is act like you don’t care about it!
With that said, Amare does have his Achilles heel, and it comes in the form of women. Amare cannot leave women alone. Not in the perverted sense. Not at all. He suffers from the fact that he seems to honestly believe that any woman he meets, that he feels any attraction to, whatsoever, is his true love, and that he has found love at first sight. Amare is extremely honest about this, and it may in fact be the first thing he tells them! Women are to be treated with the utmost respect, and to see one come to harm is unthinkable to Amare.
If you hadn’t already guessed, he’s a little chivalrous. Well… a lot chivalrous, really. He has a massive code of honour, that, once breached, demands satisfaction. He’s a little old fashioned for this modern world, but he’ll happily bring up his fists to deal with someone who’s offended him, or a woman within his sights. Additionally, his code of honour demands that he never turn down a woman’s request, even if he is suspicious of their motives. This can translate into Amare making very poor decisions in the long run, based on something he’s already promised someone. That’s another one. Amare doesn’t break his word. Not to a woman, or even to another man. His word is his bond, without exception!
Amare’s also a bit of a scrapper. Most of his fights have been caused because of a breach of honour, or because someone has done what he believes to be morally incomprehensible (even minor things). When such a thing occurs, Amare cannot help but dive right into battle, attempting to right the wrong that has been caused with violence.
Interestingly enough, Amare doesn’t believe in ghosts. His recent experience as he becomes more and more aware of spiritual entities is beginning to unnerve him. Due to his lack of belief in ghosts, he is beginning to become convinced he may be insane!
Main Fullbring Sealed Appearance: In its sealed form, Amare’s Fullbring takes on the form of a scarf. It’s fairly long and delicate looking, and it is a light gray in color. He usually has it wrapped around his neck, and he treasures it dearly as it was a gift from his late grandfather. To Amare, this scarf is almost as important to him as his life. However, when he finally decides to release his Fullbring, the scarf stretches and binds itself together, extending and transforming into…..
Main Fullbring Released Appearance: (see appearance pic)
Amare’s fullbring, once released takes the form of a short spear. Most notable is that it has two tips. The main tip, which is about 6 inches in length, and a smaller buttspike called a lizard sticker on the base of the spear. The spear itself is a little over five feet in length, with a glossy black shaft. The main head of the spear is diamond shaped, and razor sharp, allowing Amare to cut with it if he so desires. The lizard sticker isn’t edged, so it’s only purely for thrusting, however.
The shaft of the spear is quite durable, capable of blocking blows from bladed weapons with ease, although static blocks against particularly heavy weapons, such as maces, clubs or axes, may risk damaging it, and multiple blows may even break it. Still, to accomplish such a thing, one would at least need a higher reiatsu than Amare as the spear is formed and strengthened by his reiatsu. It’s quite light as well, and its shorter length than most spears allows Amare to wield it with ease and with devastating speed.
An unusual feature of this spear is the ribbons on the end of the spear. Like Gae Bulg itself they are strengthened by Amare’s reiatsu and so cutting them isn’t as easy as a single casual sweep of a blade unless the person attempting it is very strong, or has a much higher reiatsu than Amare does. It’s not uncommon for Amare to wrap them around his arm to prevent himself being disarmed of his spear or using them to extend the reach of his spear. The total length of the ribbon is around 5 feet, so Amare’s spear can actually have an effective range of well over ten feet if he throws them by the ribbon! This also lets him quickly retrieve the spear. He can also use the ribbons for other tricks, such as binding an opponent, tripping them, or whipping his spear about.
Main Fullbring Name: Gae Bulg
Main Fullbring Level 1 Property: “Negation of reiatsu” Gae Bulg’s most formidable power is in its ability to negate reiatsu abilities. Any ability that is composed of reiatsu will dissipate when it makes contact with any part of Gae Bulg. Someone in physical contact with Gae Bulg will not be able to use their reiatsu for any purpose. This ability extends to most basic forms of reiatsu manipulation including ceros, hado kido spells, and even an arrancar’s Hierro or a shinigami’s cutback.
Limitations: Gae Bulg must physically connect with something to negate it, and even the slightest of covers will prevent this ability from working. For example, although Gae Bulg can prevent someone from using reiatsu by contact alone, this only works if it’s direct contact. If contact is prevented by an article of clothing, for example, the person will still be able to use their reiatsu. A creative opponent may be able to devise such a cover for a reiatsu type attack as well. Additionally, Gae Bulg’s property of negation only works on pure reiatsu. If a solid weapon is created through reiatsu (like a Shikai, or another Fullbring, etc.) then Gae Bulg cannot negate it. Additionally, since Gae Bulg must make contact with the force to negate it, ethereal abilities (such as a dome that can only be seen, but not touched) are unaffected by Gae Bulg.
Drawbacks: Gae Bulg’s powers of negation affect EVERYTHING. This includes its wielder. As long as Amare is in direct contact with the spear, he too cannot use reiatsu for any purpose, and is thus completely reliant on his physical abilities. This can often put him at a disadvantage against his foes, as they can still utilize non-reiatsu based powers (Sonido, Shunpo, Bakudo, etc.)and even reiatsu based ones if they’re clever enough about it.
Main Fullbring Level 2 Properties: Gae Bulg’s level 2 properties are quite unusual, compared to its primary ability. Due to its nature, all of its powers are passive, and constantly active. Its first and foremost property that an opponent might witness is the “negation of sight.” Gae Bulg refracts light slightly differently than other objects, and as such, the weapon will disrupt an enemy’s depth perception. The spear itself can often be up to anywhere from a few centimetres to up to two feet shorter than it actually is, depending on how the light refracts off the weapon. This makes defending attacks from Gae Bulg much harder to accomplish as it is easy to badly time a block or dodge. Dodge too early, and Amare can easily redirect his thrust. Dodge too late and…. Well. That goes without saying what happens there.
This ability is not without its limitations of course. An enemy with high senses may be able to feel the wind of the spear as it nears them and realize it is actually closer than it appears to be. Since the ability is an optical illusion, rather than a serious one, an opponent with ridiculously good senses (Over 300) may be able to see through it entirely. Additionally, one can also use points of reference to discern the true length of the spear.
Its next power is the “negation of healing.” This power is quite simple. Wounds inflicted by Gae Bulg do not heal normally. This means that blood will not clot, and will continue to flow freely if not impeded. Bandaging and pressure will help reduce the bloodflow, but in order to actually allow healing to take place, Amare must seal his Fullbring. Even an arrancar’s High Speed Regeneration will not repair wounds inflicted by Gae Bulg.
Like his other abilities, though this power too has its limitations. Healing kido is one of the few things that can heal wounds inflicted by Gae Bulg. Additionally, as mentioned before; this power is a double-edged sword. If Amare is wounded he must seal Gae Bulg if he wants it to heal, as sealing Gae Bulg will remove all of its effects.
The final property of his Fullbring is the “negation of memory.” When Gae Bulg makes direct contact with a foe, it will begin to erode at their immediate memory. Gae Bulg will remove their most recent memories first. Gae Bulg will remove two seconds of memory every second, however, all the memories will be restored when contact is broken. It will automatically affect new memories first, so his opponent will be forgetting things even as they learn them. This can be a devastating ability, as it prevents an opponent from making strategies, as they will forget them as soon as they think of them, disrupting possible combinations, and confusing the enemy, as they likely will not even remember how they got to certain positions. Amare takes full advantage of this confusion to finish a foe off quickly, occasionally releasing them from Gae Bulg’s power and stabbing them as they are momentarily overwhelmed by the sudden rush of memories returning to them.
The greatest limitation to this ability is that Gae Bulg must maintain physical contact with the opponent to accomplish this, meaning that to maintain this ability for long enough to make a significant difference, Amare must open himself up to a counterattack, or having his weapon grabbed and pushed aside. While such actions may even confuse his mentally afflicted opponent, their cognitive abilities will be fine, and they will perceive that he is wide open to a counterattack (though they may forget this fact a few times before they can capitalize on it).
Secondary Fullbring Sealed Appearance: Amare’s secondary Fullbring takes the form of silk gloves. Although they were, at one time, white, over the years they have turned red from all the brawls Amare has been in. They are a source of immense pride for the Fullbringer, since they are a physical showing of his experience in combat. Every major loss and every victory Amare has earned, is marked by these gloves. It is only fitting that something that is such a source of pride for him would earn its place as a secondary Fullbring.
Secondary Fullbring Released Appearance: Once released, Amare’s gloves extend into bloodred gauntlets. They cover his hands and arms up to his elbows, fully protecting his hands and forearms. A small stud-like spike protrudes from the knuckles of each Gauntlet allowing Amare to use them to bash and strike a foe with tremendous force. Their metal composition is unknown, though it is not unlike steel, but vastly stronger as they are strengthened considerably by Amare’s reiatsu.
Secondary Fullbring Properties: Negation of space—This is Amare’s only power that must be consciously activated, but it’s a powerful one. Using one of his gloves, Amare has the ability to temporarily collapse or expand the space between himself and any target. To an untrained opponent this can appear to be akin to teleportation at times, because the space between Amare and his target will simply vanish, or suddenly extend. This makes it a terrifying technique to face as Amare can use it to evade what would normally be fatal blows, or to suddenly close the distance with a foe and impale them on Gae Bulg.
Limitations: There are some considerable limitations to this power however. The first and foremost is that Amare can only collapse or expand up to a maximum of ten meters at a time. He can collapse less if he desires, but ten is the extent. Additionally, because of the severe strain it takes to actually collapse or expand the physical space between his target and himself means Amare can only maintain this closed distance for the maximum duration of a second of time, before the space resets, often catapulting Amare and his target flying back or towards each other, from the sudden expansion or contraction of space creating a momentary vacuum. While his target does not have to be a person (it could be a tree, a rock, etc.) it must be something of at least 3 feet in height. He can only collapse or contract open space as well. If there is something between Amare and his target, the attack will fail.
Drawbacks: It costs Amare 200 reiatsu to perform this move (whether or not it fails, as a result of a limitation).
Birthplace: Venice, Italy
Current Residence: An apartment in Karakura Town
History:
Early Days[/i]
As mentioned above, Amare was born in Venice, in Italy. His mother was a resident of the town, while his father had moved there from Japan-- Karakura town to be precise, on a business trip, and had chosen not to return home. Amare lived in relative comfort. His mother was an accomplished writer, and produced several publications, concerning romantic novels of the middle ages. Amare grew up on such literature, which would effect him later on in life. Living in Venice allowed Amare to grow up with a real love of water and boats, and just the image of a romantic in general. Heck, his very name meant "Love." Knowing that gives one perspective.
In his childhood there was little of note that occurred to Amare, save for one important event. The first introduction of the supernatural world into his life. And it wasn't a pleasant one in the least. Encounters with hollows rarely are. And where better to encounter a hollow than in the canals of Venice... okay, that was rhetoric, there's never a good place to meet a Hollow, and in its home turf, it's even worse, but I digress.
Amare was about eight years old at the time. Being spiritually unaware, he was easy prey for a beast like the Hollow that stalked him from below the waters of the canals of Venice. Why Amare? Why anyone? The hollow saw unaware prey that was as good as any. Amare was set upon by the creature before long. He didn't know what it was, of course. Heck. He couldn't even see it. He was dragged into the water, and that would have been the end of him, if not for the fact that he had had the amazing fortune of being stalked by not one, but TWO Hollows. The other one had been stalking him from the buildings, but upon seeing the other one-- an octopus hollow, drag Amare into the water, it leapt in after the other one. The two began to battle over their prey in the water, creating a powerful current and vortex in the canal, whirling Amare around, and eventually spitting him out. Amare, not having a clue what happened, panicked and swam to solid ground.
Amare didn't know what had occurred to him, but the waves still splashed and churned with terrifying force. Fearful that they would suck him back down again, Amare fled. This would eventually become a repressed memory for him, and he would forget the events. But repressed or not, this left its mark on Amare. His first experience with the supernatural would not be his last. The hollows had left their mark on Amare.
From that day forwards, Amare began seeing things. Little things, which he originally took as nothing of consequence. He saw little shimmers in the air. The outlines of forms. He ignored them initially. He took it as his eyes playing tricks on him for some time. Quite awhile in fact. For several years Amare ignored these visions. A few events in his life would transpire before he would finally take note of these forms and realize something was different.
Notably, Amare's grandfather began to get much closer to him. Unknown to Amare, his grandfather was a powerful Fullbringer, who had uncovered his powers many, many decades ago. He had seen the change in his grandson, and saw the hollow reiatsu about him. He spent much more time with Amare to keep that in check, knowing the risks that Fullbring powers could cause. He knew that Amare's powers as a Fullbringer would slowly awaken and wanted to be able to reassure the boy when they finally did.
His grandfather began spending time teaching Amare chess. His grandfather had been a grandmaster in his time, and so he taught Amare daily. All his family lived in the same house, and for a time, things quieted down. After a few months of teaching his grandson chess, Amare began competing in youth tournaments, performing incredibly well, and placing in the top 3 in most of the competitions he entered. His grandfather was most pleased with this.
Unfortunately, his decision of a pastime got Amare teased and bullied at school, often called "nerd" for his love of the game of chess. Eventually, one day, Amare attempted to lash out at the bullies, but he was easily beaten and pummeled by them. Seeing this, his grandfather began to instruct Amare in self defense. His grandfather had been in his share of fights in the day, and his own Fullbring had been very physically oriented. His grandfather was a Judo master who was also very well trained in boxing, and began to teach Amare the styles. He told Amare they would give him the discipline not to have to fight, and the strength to defeat his opponents when battle did break out.
This went on for a long time as well. Amare's newfound disciplined allowed him to ignore his tormentors for quite awhile, until one day when Amare came across a young girl being bullied. Amare yelled at the bullies to stop and they turned to face Amare, and jeered at him. Amare ran over at them, but one of the bullies attempted to hold him back with a headlock. Almost effortlessly, Amare brought his leg kicking back, knocking the bully's leg out from under him. Surprised at this, the bully fell over and Amare managed to get between them and the girl. The fight that ensued was short, but the girl managed to get away. Of course, Amare had barely been training a full year in Judo and boxing, and multiple opponents were rather beyond him. He put up a good fight, however, using Tai Otoshi to exceptional effect to knock one of them down and caught another with a powerful right hook to the temple, knocking him out. But when it was five on one, victory was virtually impossible with such limited training, and Amare was beaten up once more.
Unlike the first time though, Amare wasn't unhappy. He was quite pleased, in fact, that he had managed to stop the attack on the girl. It wouldn't be the first time he and those bullies would butt heads, and he only kept improving. He would often single them out after school and beat them up, while still maintaining the appearance of the little chess obsessed nerd at school. He was almost like a superhero, and felt like one! It was a good feeling.
Amare continued his chess until he finally managed to earn himself a junior world ranking-- an impressive feat for certain. His grandfather couldn't have been more pleased. However, it was at this point that Amare's life took a turn for the worst. Once more the supernatural world took hold in his life, and he was attacked. Unfortunately, this time it was by an arrancar. A low level Gillian class arrancar, but an arrancar nonetheless. By now, Amare was able to see such creatures clearly. However, he was obviously no match for it physically, and it would have been his end, had his grandfather not been waiting for him at home.
Once more circumstance saved Amare's life. His grandfather picked up on the arrancar's reiatsu and leapt into action to save his grandson. The arrancar had cornered Amare in an alleyway, when suddenly the old man appeared, as if from nowhere, holding an old scarf in his hands. The arrancar turned to see the old man, and appeared surprised to see him actually looking back. "Oh? You can see me old man? I'll be with you in a moment." He taunted, but Amare's grandfather refused to back down. He whipped up his scarf, binding it around one arm. "You will not lay a finger on him, you fool." He said with a face that terrified even Amare. At that instant, his grandfather's scarf changed. Before Amare's very eyes, his grandfather's scarf transformed, extending and hardening into a sleeve with a blade protruding from the wrist. It had an odd serrated bar at the top, like a captial T, but was nonetheless quite short.
The arrancar seemed to ignore Amare now, more intrigued by this strange power. "What the hell is.... ah. It doesn't matter." He told him and began to draw his own blade, a Viking Seax. "Rend--" But the battle was cut short almost instantly, as the arrancar's blade was literally split in two by Amare's grandfather's first swing. "Wh.... What the...." His grandfather then drove the blade into the arrancar's belly, the broad tip splitting the spiritual entity clean in two. The arrancar scream, and its blood splattered across the alleyway. Amare promptly fainted at the sight of it.
When Amare awoke he was back home, his parents worrying over him. His grandfather had told them he'd found Amare unconscious in an alleyway. Amare's own memory was foggy, due to the trauma of the event. Nonetheless, at this point, Amare's grandfather realized that Amare needed to learn to protect himself. He began to instruct Amare in the basics of the manipulation of souls. However, as Amare was skeptic when it came to such things, his grandfather disguised it as meager tricks. Things he said anyone could do if they worked hard enough at it.
Not long after, Amare's parents decided to move back to Japan. Amare's father had earned a job offer there, and the family was moving back to accomodate. Amare was sad to leave the place of his birth but he was able to deal with it and they took a flight to Karakura, which was largely uneventful. Well. Moderately. Amare did notice a massive flying form beside their plane as he gazed out the window once or twice, but, being only 11 at the time, thought it was some strange bird, and paid it little mind, except to kill time watching it before it vanished.
If you hadn't already guessed, by now Amare's spiritual senses had matured to the point that he could clearly make out souls. When their plane touched down in Karakura, this was apparent, as Amare saw a number of Plus's. However, he didn't realize what they were as they blended in with the crowds very well. Any oddities, Amare somehow found a way to ignore. There were no such things as ghosts afterall. There wasn't a supernatural world out there. Amare literally forced himself into denial of these strange happenings.
Teenage years
Life went on for the boy, and Amare grew into a teenager. He joined an Eskrima and Krav Maga school so he could continue to practice martial arts which had helped him out so much in his youth. He joined the school's Judo club and began looking into their Go and Shogi clubs. It took some getting used to, and he was unfamiliar with the rules and the differences, but he slowly got the hang of both. It wasn't as fun as proper chess (in his opinion) but it was interesting. He even began teaching the people in the Shogi club about European chess which some of them seemed to pick up.
All in all, Amare was a pretty social guy, even if he didn't work in stuff taht was nearly as mainstream as the other sports. However, his attitude about things made him quite a few enemies. He started carrying a pair of gloves around the school with him. Why? So that he could beat the crap out of people who messed with him or others, without getting blood on his hands. And he had to use these fairly often. He was still very protective over the opposite sex. Why? Who can say. Possibly due to his upbringing. You remember his mother's profession? Yeah. Proofreading her work, and being exposed to that his whole life was starting to affect his mind.
When he was fifteen, Amare's grandfather passed away back in Venice. Amare was devastated at the loss, as he had been very close to his grandfather. The family flew back to Venice for the funeral, at which point, Amare found his grandfather had left him his scarf in his will. Amare treasured the silken object, keeping it close at all times. His grandfather had kept it safe all this time, so Amare himself figured he should as well, thinking it was of great importance.
When Amare returned to Japan, he abandoned his Krav Maga and Eskrima, instead focusing his attentions back on the styles his grandfather had taught him in Judo and Boxing. Through hard training, not to mention his prior experience (and his unconscious use of his Fullbring powers to strengthen himself), Amare worked his way up through the ranks earning a black belt in Judo, and becoming a professional boxer to earn some money.
Graduation and life after[/i]
Well, Amare wasn't in Highschool forever. He graduated with most of the rest of his class, and with the money he was making from his boxing he managed to move out, and moved into a small apartment. To help keep up the payments as well as keep himself in shape he worked at a bunch of odd-end jobs to help bring in cash, and even worked as a Bouncer in a bar for awhile, but was eventually fired as he clearly turned a blind eye to females who were committing offenses. All in all, however, Amare was leading an almost normal life. Until his spiritual senses started acting up again.
Now, despite Karakura being a hub of spiritual activity, Amare had been able to ignore it for the most part. He'd fortunately not seen any hollows. However, even Amare couldn't deny it when he woke up one morning, looked out his window and saw a tremendous serpent hollow winding its way down the street. Later that day, a large centipede hollow was also seen. Quite frankly, it's hard to ignore that. Amare began to become unnerved. Now that he was finally noticing these things he started taking note of all the bizarre world around him. And it scared him. Was he going insane? What was everything he saw, and why could nobody else see it? What was happening to him....

-Basic Information-
Name: Amare Mori (Ah-mar-ae Mor-ee)
-Appearance-
-Personality-
-Powers-
Main Fullbring Sealed Appearance: In its sealed form, Amare’s Fullbring takes on the form of a scarf.
-History-
Birthplace: Venice, Italy
Current Residence: An apartment in Karakura Town
History:
Early Days
