And like that, the humans were returned from their half living state, to being on top of a building with the literal incantations of death among them. And they could see the reapers in their entirety. Apparently, whatever the fullbringer, if he could be called that at this point, had done to the humans had left them with the ability to see the spirits. Either that, or he had been specifically going after the spiritually aware. The most noticeable thing about the group of humans though, was that their style of clothing was distinctly.... out of date.
The people were dressed as if they were ripped straight out of the late victorian era. Big hats, long dresses, dressed in so many layers, you'd think they'd drop dead in the summer heat, all of it. The people were in a daze, some clutching their heads in an attempt to stop the spinning, others looking out of breath hunched over with their hands on their knees to keep themselves up, all groaning from the experience. But overall, they looked.... relieved. They all wore grateful expressions on their faces, clearly glad that their nightmarish ordeal was finally over.
One of the men, one of the few still standing, was very close to their saviors, with the humans on one side of the roof, and the reapers on the other. He looked up at them. "Thank you so much for saving u-" His voice died in his throat upon actually seeing who he was addressing. "Shinigami...." He said is a breathless whisper. He began backing away, as the rest of the humans realized exactly who it was that saved them. They all fell silent, fear etched into each and every face there. All was silent for three seconds, before an explosion erupted from where their former master was. Then they flew into a panic.
"NO, I WON'T GO BACK!" The man, as well as all the other humans began running towards the edges of the building, flinging themselves off en masse. The reapers would be too shocked to react in time to save them all, maybe a few if they were quick about it. The sounds of bodies splattering against the concrete would be oddly missing, replaced with an ominous buzzing. The bodies would burst into cicadas, and all of them would begin flying away towards the East, high above the buildings, leaving the reapers with a choice; follow the bugs, or help the failure and the human against the zombie master?
Over with Luke, Impo, and Kitai, things were going marginally less good. The two low level'd fighters were winning in terms of damage, but with someone like Kitai, that wasn't much. The psycho shrugged off high damage hits like nothing. Case in point, he was still standing after taking a katana all the way through the side. And grinning about it. While Impo was really f*&king impressed with his comrade/maybe friend, still not entirely sure about Luke's opinion of him, he had nearly lost his head for that attack. After berating his fellow 'human', he was finally ready to end this.
The lunatic had jumped back after missing Luke thanks to the failure's flood, sill too mobile for Impo's liking. Impo himself was pretty drained from all of those bala and cero's he had fired off earlier. If they couldn't finish this here and now, they were toast. Maybe literally considering Kitai's tendencies for eating hollows. "When I say, slice the crap out of the air, and don't stop, no matter what, got it?" He told him. The 'human' responded with a resolute nod. Both groups were still, as if waiting for something to set off the tense atmosphere building between them.
And then a pulse of energy was felt from the reapers. Black misty lines appeared on Kitai's sword, all pointing towards the rooftop where all his zombies were. And then they snapped, loosing all the control he had over them. His eyes widened in a mixture of shock and fear. "NO! MY FRIENDS! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!?" He screeched in horror, watching as the bus monster, something that had somehow managed to drive up the side of the building like a giant centipede monster, wrapped around the building, something unseen to the reapers, and was now falling towards the ground with its head split in two.
And that was all the opening that Impo needed. His flood now completely surrounded the madman, who only had time to widen his eyes in shocked realization. "NOW!" He called out to Luke, who responded with a diagonal slash. Impo fired a bala at Kitai, who tried to slash at the energy ball, only for it to vanish. It reappeared next to his hand, exploded against it, knocking the weapon aside. Luke, who had been frozen mid swing thanks to Impo, appears behind Kitai, a few feet above the ground. His slash finishes, and Kitai's head falls to the ground. Luke reappears next to Impo just in time to see Kitai's head roll across the pavement.
And then his body swelled grotesquely, before bursting into cicadas, rushing off to join the mass of bugs, who were blocking the light of the moon. "Oh f%#k. Well this makes more sense now. To me anyway. Stupid s#%ty demon chicks..." He said, before he began to slump to the side. He was out of reiatsu, and practically dead on his feet. Hopefully Luke caught him, or else they'd both be dead. His body wasn't glowing as brightly, fading to an easy to look at pale white.
