Thread Title: A Clash of Steel [Shin vs Izanami] [NDE, PG-13] Participants: Shin, Izanami Midorikawa World: Human World Death Setting: Non Death Enabled Rating: PG-13 Location: I street that just happens to be where Shin is patrolling one afternoon in Karakura Town. Since everyone is at work or school at this time it's mostly abandoned. Special Conditions: Shin is not allowed to utilise gravitational pressure for the sake of fairness. Circumstances: Shin is an unseated officer is squad 6 who has been sent on his usual patrols. This time, he ha run into Izanami Midorikawa, a grunt in Xcution. Naturally, a fight ensues as she will kill any Shinigami she sees.
It had become almost repetitive, a daily routine and a daily structure. "Patrol, be ready to go by noon." His superior seemed to tell him everyday, everyday he had been told he would have to be up at a certain time to perform his patrol duties. At first Shin hated the idea of going out to do grunt's work early in the morning - but over time this changed. Over time the dread of doing 'grunt' work pretty much began to fade and eventually turn into a sort of exciting feeling. Patrol usually meant he got to find someone or something to fight. More often than not it was a hollow but even that idea made his blood rush. The idea of mercilessly beating down a soul consuming monster, bringing it to his mercy and making it see him as it's god that would decide their fate.
That's where the Shinigami found the strength to roll out of bed.
The young man stepped in front of the mirror in his typical attire. A typical Shinigami Shihakusho did not grace his body. Instead the pitch black sleeves had been removed and replaced with snow white ones that reached up to his wrists. His right hand was covered with a leather black glove which he used to grip his sword better. Underneath it, white bandages covered his once injured hand from a previous skirmish not too long ago. His silvery, pale white hair which usually fell all around his shoulders in a long mess that tied and braided and slung over his shoulder. His sheathed zanpakuto was in the form of a katana and was pinned to his side by a purple belt. Instead of wearing the sandals and white that he saw many of his colleagues wearing, instead brown boots covered his feet. However, the most noticeable thing about him was the jet black eyepatch that hid his maimed right eye, revealing he was blind on that side.
His grin faded and he sighed, stepped out of the squad barracks as he began his journey through the Seretei in order to find his way to the barracks of Squad 13. It wasn't that Shin was particularly dreading patrol -if anything, he was hoping some kind of hollow would challenge him- but the whole process began tedious, too routine, too simple. Although, he had actually gotten involved in some seriously big skirmishes, one of the most noticable being his sword fight with that human who had spiritual powers. Shin had beaten him and collected a bounty, and yet still the relief team managed to let him slip through their fingers. The news had angered him very much, considering that human had wounded him with his technique just as Shin delivered the finishing blow.
Still, the fight had been great and all of it had been a result of Shin being sent on patrol.
Before long the Shinigami found himself at the barracks for the squad responsible for sending him to the human world. Shin had been on patrol so much they actually remembered him, many of the unseated officers recognised him, many of then grinning and trying to start friendly small talk him him. Of course, the young Shinigami replied with quick and to the point answers, still trying to remain friendly but he knew he didn't actually have much time to sit around and have idle chit-chat. He had a job to do and a wage to earn, a wage meant money and money was everything. So, before he could get too engaged with anything the unseated gatekeepers where getting up to, Shin collected his hell butterfly, making sure he would actually get to the patrol spot.
With a confident smile he stepped into the gate.
He exited the gate in such a familiar area he didn't even have to look around. It was clearly Karakura Town. By the looks of everything it was afternoon, just like in Seretei. Does that mean everyone is doing their work? So why the fuck do they make me patrol?!The anger made Shin scowl, it all seemed very, very, pointless but before he could think on it any more his train of thought was interrupted. Obviously it's in case hollows attack them at their locations stupid! Suddenly, a light bulb switched on inside Shin's head. That actually made a lot of sense. Obviously, everyone is going to be grouped together, which means more to devour for the greedy fuckers. The logic all made sense. However, stepping out of the gate to a basically abandoned area still made him scowl, he would've thought he'd at least be assigned to more high profile areas at this stage.
His smile had disappeared and turned into a neutral expression, simply analysing and thinking, taking in his surroundings and alerting himself. The sun's warm gaze was sorely lacking at this time of year, and the frost of winter was creeping on everyone. The sky wasn't the least bit blue, it was blotted by a huge blanket of grey that gazed down on everyone in mockery. The street's stretched for ages like a maze. The occasional cars and lampposts decorated the street but other than that it may as well have been empty. Shin noted the lack of activity around him, meaning the possibility of a hollow attack was very small - unless they decided he may be a tasty treat worth the risk. Based on Shin's cold aura of dark confidence, it was a decision they would surely regret.
We're moving. Shin told his zanpakuto but there was no response. Shin didn't take that to mean anything. His slow footsteps just filled the air as he began making his way down the street.
It was the same as always just another drifting void of emptiness flowing throughout it as if she was in space itself bent to suffer the endless flow of time with nothing as her company. It was all the same as it had been for as long as she could remember there had never been anything with her nothing that she could cling onto. There was nothing that gave her happiness or comfort yet nothing for dread or pain all just emptiness that surrounded in the black abyss.
Just like that though that black abyss was subsided by a presence one that Midori could feel close by her one filled with fear. Just as the instructor that had been overseeing her was about to speak up only after just entering her bedroom Midori's eyes opened and gazed at him. The instructor felt the words and actions escape from him at the gaze of her silvery eyes and the shock that she might have been awake the entire time or that simply entering her room gave her enough to wake from sleep.
Whether or not which was the case the instructor couldn't tell and he began to feel every ounce of dignity that he clung to leaving him as he kept standing there afraid of the very girl he was suppose to be looking after and training. One that by all rights shouldn't be anything for him to fear yet one way or another after witnessing her first training session that he believed would have been enough to gravely injury her and get him taken off the charge of looking after her he hadn't been able to fight of the eerie feeling of doom.
Midori just stepped out from the sleeping chamber she had been in and stood in front of the instructor awaiting his orders. It took a few moments for the instructor to gather himself yet when he did he attempted to place as much authority and confidence in his tone and voice as possible. The end result wasn't one he was actually pleased with though as it wasn't nature and he knew that any of his colleges would laugh at the way he sounded at the moment. "Alright Izanami today you're being sent on an assignment. Yumi here will be overseeing you."
In the next moment a short blonde haired woman that looked to be in her late twenties stepped into the white room. She was dressed in normal clothing that one would see on a business prone individuals. She was dressed in a suit that was black in color with a tie included and her hair tied back in a topknot. She had a much higher confidence to her then the instructor that now was making his way out of Midori's bedroom. He could finally go back to simply relaxing and not having to fear for his life.
"Izanami I've got an assignment for you now lets make way I'll brief you while we're on our way." Yumi was someone far more suited to look after Midori one of confidence and control that understood so far that Midori held no emotions nor any urge to kill those that controlled her, she was a weapon and one that was about to be set loose against the forces of Soul Society. Yumi made her way out of Midori's room and Midori herself followed a few paces behind her without question.
It took them about ten minutes yet now they were both seated in a black car and Yumi had just finished briefing Midori on what assignment she was to undertake at the moment. "Over the last week or so a single Shinigami has been continually making rounds in Karakura. Normally they switch off or go to different areas. We don't want Soul Society to get to close a look at anything so since this one might have already seen too much it's your job to eliminate him." Midori sat across from Yu mi with no expression to her features "Understood."
It was then that the car suddenly stopped just as it was about to reach the end of a street and turn onto another that only went left or right. So they had been on a one way street to begin with. "Alright Izanami the Shinigami is walking towards this location on the street in front of us from the right side. Take him out. Also don't think of taking to long or running off I can sense everything going on and stop you myself if I have too." Midori didn't bother to answer she simply opened up the car door and made her way to the end of the street.
For a brief moment though she felt something within her something red yet green at the same time something foreign that she couldn't understand. She reached the end of the street and turned onto the next turning right and seeing the Shinigami with long white hair standing right there. Midori was dressed in her simple black leather suit with high thigh leggings and arm sleeves accompanied by her top and skirt finally finished with the long black cape that nearly touched the ground. Midori simply stood there her silver eyes starring into the eyes of the Shinigami as she evaluated everything about him.
She stepped from the shadows, as if she suddenly materialised before Shin from the cover of darkness, as if trying to surprise him. Shin wasn't taken aback at all, this was the human world and he (assumed) she was a human, this meant she couldn't see him, so Shin continued walking, paying her little to no attention for about two seconds. He suddenly stopped, this time very taken aback at the realisation that she was staring at him. His jaw dropped slightly, clearly surprised that a random human could see him, and was staring directly at him. He could tell, she wasn't looking past him, or behind him, or through him - her gaze was locked directly onto the young Shinigami.
Shin's movement stopped and his eyes narrowed, he had clearly gathered himself from the initial shock. Still, she didn't seem as if she was particularly any threat, just a normal human that happened to be spiritually aware. In the academy Shin had been informed to be wary about those sorts of people. Spiritually aware humans. Yes, that is what they were and she was one of them. How else did she looked like she was staring deep into the pits of his soul. However, she didn't seem to be particularly shocked, or surprised, however, Shin didn't take that to mean anything. He was more shocked that someone had seen him despite the fact he had managed to recollect himself after the scare.
He analysed her, staring her down from head to toe and making a mental note about what he saw. She had light blonde hair that was cut up to her chin. The colour of it brought a wave of nostalgia and memories, reminding him of the time his own hair was a similar blonde colour to hers. However, those days were long gone and Shin was a Shinigami now, despite that the very colour of her hair reminded Shin so much of the past. So much so he found his hand on his eye patch, adjusting and re-adjusting it constantly - an indicator that he was feeling a slightly bit uncomfortable (but only to those who had known him previously). She wasn't particularly big at all, clearly much shorter than Shin himself which was surprising. Shin wasn't used to looking or feeling this much larger than another person.
Her silvery eyes reached into him but Shin only stood there, adjusting his eye patch constantly. The fuck are you doing? You worried about a human seeing you?! His zanpakuto suddenly barked at him, snapping Shin back into reality and kick starting him back into his analysis mode. He stared back at her, not even saying a word like she had. She can't be no ordinary human. Shin thought to himself, no, there was no way she was an ordinary human - she was spiritually aware for one. This was a clear red light in most cases that she was something dangerous. Still, Shin wasn't always one to jump to conclusions, he always thought things out.
Still, she is in the damn way. He didn't even begin walking again. If she was simply a regular old average Joe human who was just spiritually aware then Shin knew the perfect way of intimidating her so she would piss off. He glared back, twisting the corner of his mouth into a sneer before speaking at her. "You ain't needed, get outta here." Shin sneered, placing his sword hand on the hilt of his sword miderably. If she wasn't what Shin thought she was she would simply run away. If she wasn't... Well he'd get to that later when it came.

Izanami stood there in the center of the small street starring at the Shinigami evaluating everything she could about him prior to engaging him in combat. This was her target something else that needed to be killed. He was no different than the chimpanzees or the bear nor any of the other countless lives that Izanami had claimed throughout her life. He was simply a target something without even a name to be called by nothing more than a Shinigami that had the unfortunate luck of being made a target for Izanami.
From what she could see of this Shinigami from the roughly thirty feet distance between them he was blind in one eye. He had an eye patch covering his left eye which meant either he didn't need it to fight or he didn't have the eye entirely. Either way he wouldn't have the usage of that side fully which meant there was already a weakness on him that Izanami knew how to exploit. Other than that he was dressed in the standard attire that the Shinigami wore and Izanami could make out any other defining features besides his long white hair.
Izanami at this point was done with her evaluations there wasn't much at the moment for her to evaluate from his appearance only that there were two possible weaknesses that she could exploit not including his attire. She also took into consideration the placement of his zanpakuto and knew that since it was present he wasn't the rare type of individual that overwhelming power by himself. As he placed his hand on his zanpakuto and was about to speak Izanami started to calming walk towards him with no expression to her face at all.
There was nothing truly frightening about this Shinigami. Yet who was Izanami to know fear that was something that only one individual throughout her entire life had been able to make her experience. It hadn't been the chimpanzees which had outnumbered her five to one nor the bear which had hundreds of pounds on her and by nature should have been able to kill her easily. No it was neither of them nor was it any of the other individuals that Izanami had to face down since she could actually remember and it certainly wasn't this Shinigami.
Izanami kept walking towards the Shinigami starring into his eyes even after he had spoken to her though not a single expression was shown nor was an emotion displayed in her gaze. She was an empty shell of an individual that sought nothing of her own. She was a merciless entity that held no comparison nor any sense of self all there is too Izanami is the purest sense of a weapon. Now stopping five feet from the Shinigami Izanami stares into his eyes and awaits the battle about to ensue between them.
It was confirmed, she could clearly see him for definite. Shin knew what it meant when a human was simply looking in his direction but couldn't see him. It felt more like they were staring through him, blissfully unaware and ignorant of his presence; but this was different. She wasn't just looking through him, no, she was clearly staring at him, gazing deep into his soul through his eyes. Still, the young Shinigami didn't hesitate in his steps; for all he knew this could simply be a weird, dodgy looking human who was just spiritually aware. Nothing unusual.
Well, not completely. What sort of took Shin aback was that she didn't even react to his threatening demand to buzz off. If she was simply a spiritually aware human the sight of a weird looking samurai man with a sword telling her to fuck off would terrify her. Especially in the way Shin decided to do it she should've turned and ran away, crying for help. Of course, when that help came there would be no one there so they would probably assume she was just some crazy woman and Shin would go about his normal business, looking for hollows. But not her. The young Shinigami couldn't help but find that unusual, she just continued walking towards him giving him that same cold stare.
Shin stopped at the same time she decided to stop, as if he was waiting for her to make a move. He didn't particularly know what he was actually waiting for but what he had gathered was that something wasn't right. Already his battle analysis began to kick start his brain into full motion, looking and waiting to see if she would in fact try something or make a move. He kept studying, keeping his one good close eye on here, checking to see if she had a weapon, changes in her body language which suggested she was about to go aggressive. While doing all of this Shin's hand dropped from the hilt of his sword to his side.
"Did I fucking stutter? Scram!" Shin told her irritably, clearly unhappy with being ignored. Already the young Shinigami could feel his hands ready to clench into a fist, he didn't see the need to draw his blade yet because she hadn't produced a weapon. Although she was spiritually aware Shin didn't actually have the authority to kill her on sight unless she killed him first, that would get him into a lot of shit with his superiors. So, he had to wait; he couldn't attack first or that would be fundamentally going against what his duties as a Shinigami were. Not that he actually cared too much about sparing or protecting the innocent humans, it's just that he would get into a lot of trouble if he did kill a human who hadn't attacked him first. Although, he could kill her and lie about it.
Then I have to do all that shitty paper work. That would mean more writing and Shin hated doing a lot of reading and writing (considering he was illiterate until midway through the academy) and even so, she wasn't worth risking his career over. However, it was hard to resist and stop himself. I told her to leave and she won't leave... who does she think she is? By ignoring Shin she had inadvertedly already began to trigger him. How dare she?! I am a GOD! She can't... She can't... He was clenching one of his fists at his side. His eyes narrowed before he spoke, his voice cold but masking a volcano. "The fuck do you even want anyway?"

Standing there a few feet in front of the long white haired shinigami with the black eye patch over his left eye remained Izanami Midorikawa. This shinigami from Izanami's perspective didn't look at all intimidating like he was believing himself to be. Izanami had no problem with the idea of facing off against this shinigami even though she was unarmed and didn't have her claymore with her and he obviously had his zanpakuto which he was clinging to for the first few moments. She was already at a disadvantage yet that wouldn't save this shinigami the outcome was already predestined.
Izanami now stopped just as the shinigami did and both of them starred at each other. While he appeared somewhat calm on the surface based on how he had already spoken in a threatening manner and now had walked up to meet her, he was nothing like her at all. There were two types of entities born those that held power and knew how to wield it and those that strived to gather strength in any way that they could in hopes of one day claiming to be powerful. It was obvious to Izanami which type of person this shinigami was and yet what he claimed to be.
Everything that she had experienced throughout her life had been a test. Every moment, every test she had passed without fail. Now was no different. Izanami in truth wasn't even thinking about such things for to do so she would have to be an actual person with emotions and free thought. No these were the thoughts of Yumi as she sat in the black car sensing the confrontation between both of them. A smile spreading across her face as she dove into the mind of both Izanami and the shinigami known as Shin.
Izanami had only one thing on her mind it was singular and alone within her. Having nothing else to cloud her judgement nor her train of thought. A lonely thought bent to be forever alone trapped in the iron chains that was Izanami's vacant soul. The only thing flowing throughout her mind was the order she had received and how best to go about completing it. Her own analysis of battle had already been at play taking in the slight stance the shinigami had been in a few moments ago.
By the same measure she had already evaluated the manner in which he had held his zanpakuto. He had been ready to draw it at any moment and without thinking had given away that tiny bit of information to her. It wasn't anything game changing most would think. Anyone could draw their sword what did it matter if she had seen how he put his hand on the hilt. Yumi for what it's worth was rather enjoying herself. At the moment while sensing the shinigami and Izanami was having a small amount of wine.
She unlike either of them had vast sensing ability and could read the souls of them both. If she wished the battle could be rigged from the start for Izanami to be victories. That is if the shinigami she was fighting actually was in touch with his zanpakuto enough to release it. Alas she had already sensed that it wasnt the case this time and the shinigami simply had its sealed form and nothing else. That meant that this match was more or less fair even if Izanami was without her claymore. So now as Yumi drove herself deep into Izanami's soul she could feel just the tiniest bits of light and realized that the girl however far down still clung to what she had been prior.
It was rather startling and not something that Yumi nor no one else in Xcution wished to occur again. After this little test she was going to have to return Izanami to Xcution and then speak with Satsujun as soon as possible and see what he felt the proper course of action was going to be. However, she didn't get the chance to think it over all that much more for in the next moment Izanami started to walk towards the shiniganmi. He had just screamed at her again and called her means names that he might have believed to be hurtful to females. He was mistaken in the case of Izanami and would see her simply change angles for a moment and start to walk past him.
Stepping past the shinigami on the side of his face that actually had an eye would more or less be a shock to him. If Izanami was going to attack most would believe that she would either come right from the front and attack him strait forward. That or she would at least do what she was doing from the side of his face that had no eye so he wouldn't be able to see her. However, both of those methods had far to many flaws and just as Izanami passed the shinigami making him believe that she had actually listened this time and was leaving the battle ensued.
Moving as fast as she could Izanami now only two feet passed the shinigami on his right side spun on the balls of her heels and moving her left hand upwards would attempt to grab the ponytail of the shinigami. Once she had it in her hand she would raise her right leg and with full force and every intention would attempt to deliver a high kick to the right side of the shinigami's face. If successful though the shinigami wouldn't fall to the ground for Izanami's leg was moving downwards and her right hand forwards. Grabbing his zanpakuto and ripping it away from him only to throw it over the stone wall to the right meaning it would be out of the street and this battle would then be one of physical might and skill.
No words were spoken, no greetings were exchanged, Shin didn't even have the chance to say anything else. She was a robots in Shin's eyes, seemingly lifeless, focused purely on her objective like her life depended on it. Nothing Shin did or could say could distract her from it. She wasn't completely unlike him, when he had his mind locked onto something he had a strange determination to see it fulfilled, nothing would get into the way of him achieving it. This was especially true if there was some sort of money involved, then he'd certainly strive to achieve said goal at any length at almost any cost. That's what he was first and foremost, a mercenary.
Shin didn't know this completely but the woman standing before him wasn't just a normal spiritually aware human. However, his brain was already beginning to speculate what the hell she was. Unfrotunately, it wasn't particularly many options since Shin wasn't that well-versed in enemy races of the Shinigami. All he knew was quincy, hollow and arrancar - anything else was insignificant to him, he viewed them as below him. He couldn't quite recall anything else because those three races had caused the biggest impact. The Vandenreich had devastated the Soul Society with their invasion and so had arrancar, and hollows he hunted them down basically everyday. However, she didn't seem like any of these things - she just seemed like a normal person so what the fuck was she?
Luckily, for the young Shinigami, he wouldn't be left wondering long. She sprung into action. However, he had already been anticipating the idea of her trying to attack him. He only had to hold himself back from hitting first since that's what kind of got a Shinigami in trouble. However, in the back of the young Shinigami's mind the possibility of needing to defend himself was always, always there. Suddenly she moved towards him, like a trained ninja she was there. However, although her body moved fast for a human she wasn't as fast as Shin. In addition to his above average senses Shin could easily follow what she was doing and what he did was natural, having been trained in hakuda and combat for a great many years. As natural as breathing. Like a proper god.
She was right at his side, the side with the most vision, he had been tracking her movements with his good eye all the way until she stopped next to him. He also saw her hand begin to move upwards, his body moved full speed, no questions asked; his right arm shot out, slamming into her forearm and redirecting her attempt at a hair pull, making her arm shoot to the very far wide to the side instead of towards his face. He then counter attacked immediately, not wanting to give her any room for follow up, his own fist on his left arm shot up towards her nose. If it connected it could be pretty damn painful, firstly, it could very well break and begin bleeding, however there was also another problem. When someone was hit in the nose it would naturally cause their eyes to begin tearing up, it was the body's natural reaction to being hit in the nose, this would cause her a big hindrance the rest of the fight since tears tended to impede vision. The way Shin executed his combination was one of pure speed and skill. Lucky for him, he had the speed advantage, he also had less to do, simply moving an arm in order to redirect an attack from someone slower than him was simple.
Using the same speed and efficiency to counteract the attack was almost as simple as breathing. Although they were the same strength he was simply redirecting her arm's momentum, easy and not requiring much physical strength at all. The second attack was fluid, as if it came naturally after the block. That was simple and natural, it was his fighting style, avoid, counter, avoid, counter, avoid, counter. She would worn down eventually, slowly. No matter the outcome of his attacks Shin moved backwards, creating some distance between her and him again. No words were spoken, he didn't even ask for her name. The Shinigami wasn't angry, no, he was offended that she had even went for him. A god is absolute, eternal, how could she possibly try to challenge me? At this point he didn't particularly care for her reasons, the fact was that she had done it.

Izanami moved through the small street that she and the white haired shinigami occuptied at the moment. As she did so the shinigami seemed to catch on to her trick or at least he kept his reflexes alter as she started to pass him. As she passed him though he should have believed that Izanami had simply been moving passed him and no actual combat was going to ensue between the both of them. It didn't seem to play out that way though as the shinigami somehow managed to catch slight of Izanami while she was already passed him. His arm moved with swift motion up from his side and he attempted to hit her forearm.
As he did this though Izanami's mind went to work and processed what was going on accordingly. At the moment her right hand was still moving towards his head however his hair was no longer a primary target due to the fact that he had repositioned himself to face towards her. This meant that at best if she kept to her stretagy of grabbing ahold of his hair the best she could accomplish would be to grab ahold of one of the braids on either side of his face. However, one of the first lessons that Izanami had been taught about killing was that when the target adapted to the situation you had to adapt your own strategy to kill the target. So that's what she was going to do.
Now that this white haired shinigami seemed able to preceive her attacks and was actually trying to fight agianst her and keep her from succeeding in her assignment she wouldn't be able to hold back against him. Izanami for one reason or another hadn't given that first strike everything that she could and there was no reason for that. She didn't understand why that was so yet it was a fact. He was right in front of her now and his hand was moving through the spectrum of space towards her own arm. As that happened though Izanami's mind went to work and she began to precieve the actions and factors about this shinigami.
Just based on the speed at which his hand was moving compared to her own she could tell that he held speed superior to her own by a fair margin however it wasn't enough that it would win him the battle easily. This shinigami had the speed advantage against her however whether he knew it or not Izanami had the advantage of a faster mind. She could process information faster than this shinigami. Her hand suddenly stopped moving towards him and Izanami motioned it downwards as fast as she could. Instead of punching her forearm with his full strength his fist only managed to graze the side of her forearm as his other hand extended outwards towards her.
Izanami though saw his arm begin to raise though and took into account what she was seeing. The angle that this shinigami was raising his hand and the direction that he was punching at her all would lead to her suffering the blow to her nose. Izanami had to go back on what her original plan had been now she wouldn't be able to kick the shinigami across his face and hopefully end it with that. No she had to protect herself and make sure that she didn't suffer extensive damage that put her far behind this shinigami. That was why whether or not this shinigami could move faster he still had more to do with that sigle attack than she did with her counter to that attack. She could think faster than him and that would be his downfall.
Angling her head downwards while at the same time forwards slightly Izanami would counter the punch aimed towards her nose. This shinigami was putting his full strength behind that punch and due to the momentum of it he wouldn't be able to pull back. The best he could hope to achieve in the next moment with his unpracticed mind would be to alter his punch away from the new destination. Izanami stepped forwards her forehead ultimately colliding with the fist of the shinigami. She would without a doubt feel the impact and suffer some pain from it. However, the shinigami was going to suffer a far more extensive degree of damage and pain.
His fist was going to collide with her forehead that was being moved forwards with her own full strength which matched that of the shinigami. However, the front of the skull is far more durable than the bones in the hand something that was undisputed fact. In that moment the bones in the shinigami's hand were going to fracture and some would even break. His fingers more than likely would break from the force yet the bones that connected each and the wrist would more than likely only suffer fractures or a sprain. Either way that dominate fist of the shinigami's was now virtually useless in this battle to the death. Izanami took the following moment to attack even though her own vision was just recovering from the slight blur.
Her right leg moving just over the ground as she would attempt to deliver a blow to the left ankle of the shinigami with all her might. After that she would follow up by raising her leg kicking the shinigami in the left side of his face with all her might. After that if everything went as she planned Izanami would disengaged leaping backwards a total of five feet. If the shinigami found someway to prevent her from kicking his body than she would counter in some manner as best she could depending on what he actually had planned and how he might be able to defend himself
(OOC: Bad, post is bad, I swear next post will be decent quality.)
Hot, staggering pain shot through Shin's fist and clouded his mind. Only two things could have happened; firstly, he could have missed and hit a harder area, or she could harden her skin or something. Now option two wasn't exactly very likely so really option one was the biggest possibility. "Fuck!" Was all Shin grunted. While hitting her forehead had fucking hurt it wasn't to the extend she would've initially assumed. Firstly, there came the fact that Shinigami were more durable than an average human, meaning what would usually be crippling to a human was not the case for Shin. Had Shin been a human he may have ended up even breaking a few fingers but he wasn't. He felt his wrist grind but the worst of the pain came in his fingers. Already he could feel two of them beginning to swell up He wasn't aware exactly what he done to it but he had certainly done something. However, thanks to pain tolerance and strength of will his right hand was far from unusable.
However, it still hurt. Instinctively, Shin moved back. What Shin didn't know was that it had gotten him out of the way of her attempt to hit his ankle. Shin was just naturally faster than her, while he didn't see an attack was happening it was only natural to back away from the opponent after hurting your hand. Also, it was must easier and quicker to take a step back that to swing an entire foot low enough to clip someone's ankles. As a result, her kick only hit thin air where the Shinigami had been.
She was skilled, obviously very skilled at fighting and taking down opponents. Who knows how many Shinigami, hollows or spiritual beings she had killed. But she had skill, that's all Shin saw and not exactly an overwhelming amount of it. It wasn't as if she would easily be able to outmatch Shin and she certainly wasn't more powerful than him. Even now, in a split second Shin saw an opening. She had swing her foot to hit his ankle but he had dodged it, that meant she was certainly vulnerable as she was basically on one leg. However, there came the problem of Shin needing to move fast enough and having the precision to actually capitalise on the situation.
Firstly, he didn't trust aiming for her face any more. He had damn near broken his hand because she had done something even though he didn't quite see it. For all he knew her face could be made of rock and he had attacked it. She didn't exactly seem too fazed by the fact she had been hit in the face at such speed. He had an idea, no two, no two dozen ideas on how to proceed, on how to retaliate. No. Was all he thought to himself. He had to stay calm, don't be overzealous. That's just not how a good acts. He took a glance down at his swelling fingers and it filled him with rage.
"Fucker..." He spat under his breath but not loud enough for her to hear. He couldn't let her see he was getting aggravated. That would simply get him killed.

Izanami felt the impact of the Shinigami's fist against her forehead as she thrust her head forward using all of her neck muscles to back it all up. That impact was a jarring one that would wake any drowsy individual. Izanami for a moment was slightly dazed as she began to gather her focus once again. Her vision slightly blurred and out of focus had only lasted long enough that it had slowed down the speed at which she had managed to deliver the low sweeping kick. She felt nothing to resist her strike though and saw that the Shinigami had just moved backwards.
Her focus returning to normal over the next moment everything became clear as crystal once again. Her silver eyes locked on the figure of the Shinigami. She had a red mark on her forehead now though from the pain adding the only actual bit of color to her pale skin. It wasn't like she didn't feel the pain that had just coursed throughout her head and neck from being punched, but her emotionlessness spoke volumes of difference that the Shinigami would see. All he would be able to gather was that she was unhurt, but slightly more colorful now.
Her silver eyes glanced over his entire figure gathering up all new bits of information after that first clash between them. She could easily see him looking at his hand for an instant and gathered up that her counter to his punch had left his hand wounded. It seemed that her counter had in fact paid off handsomely even if she had been dazed for the first few seconds afterwards. This Shinigami seemed to be faster than her yet as far as his strength was concerned the two of them seemed to be roughly equal.
That left her with a very small window of success it seemed and she was going to need to be smart about how she fought him. If she didn't out think this shinigamij during the battle then it was going to be her lying on the ground in defeat. She couldn't let something like that happen though. Soemthing like that wouldn't nor could it happen. She was a human weapon and nothing else. This was shinigami. He was no wepaon he hadn't been trained throughout all of his existence to kill and nothing else. That was the difference he had other things to him and Izanami didn't she was nothing more than a blade that would cut through her foes.
The shinigami seemed to be in pain though for a few moments as he tested out how well he could move his hand. Izanami could see his hand moving which meant that he was obviously in pain and she had been successful for sure. Izanami for the tikme being didn't have a way to attack the shinigami. If she closed in on him she wasn't completely sure how he was going to responde. So for the time being she was going to let him fester in his rage and then see what type of attack he was going to try out against her. This shinigami would fall to the human weapon of Xcution.
Thanks to his pain tolerance the once white hot pain in his hands and joints of his fingers had been reduced to nothing but a dull throb. He was even managing to move his hand and such quite well without much trouble, just the occasional flash, his hand reminding him that it was still hurt. He tucked that information to the back of his mind, holding his hand out and flexing his fingers and internally wincing at the small shots of pain shooting up his hand. This ain't too bad. All things considered this really wasn't too bad in his mind, he would just have to be more careful with the swollen joints. Luckily, his value skill in pain tolerance and strength of will meant this was virtually nothing.
Stupid.
The voice sound loud in his mind, soft yet so loud it was all he head. Shin couldn't even argue because he knew exactly where he had gone wrong. I got distracted. He had been so concerned with his hand that wasn't even all that busted that he had damn near forgotten about the real enemy in front of him. The one who could slice him, cut him, gut him like a fish and split his bones. Very stupid. I grit his teeth and clenched his jaw at his simple stupidity. He really shouldn't have let his hand distract him.
His vision snapped back to his assailant, she stood there her eyes locked on him, as if staring right through him. The young Shinigami instantly felt like a puzzle, constantly being analysed and solved, piece by piece he was being moved until everything clicked into place. She's watching me, controlling my every move. That's why she didn't attack because she didn't need to attack, she could just stand there, watching; waiting for him to slip up make a mistake before she devoured him. He was a puzzle in her eyes, her eyes gave it all away.
His own battle analysis kicked in, like a machine the cogs in his brain began turning and grinding as Shin himself tried to process her moves, her body language and his own potential counters. What Shin noticed through his singular eye was that she actually had a bright red mark square in the middle of her forehead. Impossible, I aimed for her nose; I'm definitely sure of it! Perhaps he had missed and misplaced his blow. After all, when his fist connected it didn't feel like a nose, it felt too hard but Shin had only assumed that she had some kind of ability to harden her skin or some kind of hidden armour that wasn't visible to the naked eye.
Oh, but if that was the case why is her skin irritated genius?
Shin couldn't answer that question. Perhaps he had just missed and his the wrong spot, that would've made a lot more sense as to why the surface was harder than before. It was almost common knowledge among everyone who fought hand to hand to not hit someone in the forehead, that was simply the perfect way to knock someone out... and break your hand at the same time. Still, Shin still had to be cautious so he ruled out her face as a potential spot to hit at least for now. That area was too arcane and Shin was too unsure, he didn't trust plunging into something so arcane because in his experience rushing into the unknown would get him killed. He had to play it slow and methodical, just like he had always been.
She expected him to make the first move but that would be playing right into her hands like a puppet. Shin was never the puppet, he was always the puppet master, the god, the victor. Shin plastered a confident grin on his face, hiding his worries under a carefully crafted mask that never broke in the heat of battle. He lifted his leg and slowly stepped forwards. Clack, clack. His feet hit the ground softly, each step exaggerated and slow and each movement thoughtful and calculated. Every tiny step towards the female brought his heart rate higher but his confident smile remained unshaken.

Standing there Izanami starred into the eyes of the Shinigami that was before her. There wasn't all that much room for the Shinigami to evade her attacks if she went and tried to attack him. They had a fence on one side that was several feet tall. On the other side a few feet to her right there was the side of the building that neither of them would have the strength to damage. That meant that this battle was essentially a straight line between the both of them and one of them would have to make the next attack.
This next attack would be easy to see coming unless some sort of distraction was used as a decoy prior to it's deployment. Izanami while having no true knowledge of the world and many of the things that individuals would consider to be essential for life was tough explicitly how to do combat and that's what she was doing right now as her silver eyes were locked on the eye of the Shinigami in front of her. From what she could tell both of them seemed to be evenly matched in terms of their skills and physically capabilities.
The Shinigami was slightly stronger than her in terms of brute force and speed however she seemed to be the one that could process attacks faster. She didn't know what the Shinigami was thinking and yet his facial features were giving away that he was getting rather annoyed. His choice of words and statements gave away the fact that he was confident in himself to the point that it transitions into arrogance. Izanami was an individual that didn't even see herself as an individual, but instead as a weapon.
She felt no pride in her life for she had never been treated as something that has life. She is a weapon and one that has been polished, tempered and swung thousands of times. However, it doesn't matter how shiny or sharp she becomes for a weapon holds no pride in itself. All she continued to do at the moment is process the information that she gathers specifically how this Shinigami is fighting and learning his movements to counter him and effectively eliminate him. "I thought Shinigami were suppose to be strong. I see you're nothing without your zanpakuto."
Izanami had to act accordingly to the situation and right now she was at the disadvantage of physical capability. If she rushed the Shinigami while he had a leveled center of mind then the chances of her being able to counter any of his attacks or land any of her own again were be significantly lower than acceptable. So in order to make sure that she still could eliminate this Shinigami she had to make sure his pride and arrogance would sent his mind into a spiraling vortex of anger and he'd attack her.
He didn't allow himself to outwardly wince at her words. "I thought Shinigami were suppose to be strong. I see you're nothing without your zanpakuto." There was no tone of amusement or mocking nature to her sentence. She wasn't outwardly trying to mock or provoke him, at least her tone didn't give any of that away to his untrained eye. It was as if she was stating a fact, reading it out from a newspaper or a poster... that somehow made it all the more provocative in his mind. Like a broken gear or cog in a clock or watch, an irritation eating away at the inside of his brain. It would be noticeable, the flash of anger in his eyes despite trying his best to keep a calm, collected smile.
He always hated mind games.
He hated hand-to-hand combat and hated using his fists. He was never strong nor very well-fed. Using brute force just wasn't what he was used to; he just couldn't do it. Granted, a lot of hakuda didn't strictly require brute strength and force but it was useful to have. He didn't need strength to cut people up, simple as. Still, it couldn't be helped because his zanpakuto was strewn useless on the ground. One attempt to reach for it would most certainly result in his death. So, this meant he had to forget about the katana for now. This meant he would have to rely on the form of combat he hated the most to beat her down. Shame, I would have loved for us to gut her.
Still, he wouldn't allow it to break his composure or his form. The moment he rushed in for another attack he could very well be dead. He reacted instinctively and nearly broke his hand. Now his throbbing knuckle was a permanent reminder of what could potentially happen if he didn't think. He had to calm himself, analyse the situation and (above all) not rush in for an attack. Shin could see that would most certainly result in his death. They were in a narrow space, this meant his attacks would lost a sense of unpredictability. In addition, his use of shunpo was now limited to going forwards of backwards, there could be no side-to side dodging.
While Shin disliked this form of fighting, that didn't meant he couldn't do it. "If you say so," He managed to say through gritted teeth. "Who are you?" He asks, glaring at her. He watches her, closely analysing her demeanour. She had attacked him, almost killed him in fact and taunted him. He would kill her eventually, he just needed to know who she was so he could follow up on this. Endless possibilities and end points circles his head as to why she attacked him, hopefully he could find out why. "May as well know the name of the-"
Bang!
The young shinigami nearly jumped, the noise startling him and breaking him from his chain of thought. It was followed up by a long roar; the all too familiar noise of a hollow. What? Now? Seriously? He could ignore it and carry on fighting, after all, he never truly cared about fighting hollows and defending the weak and vulnerable. It was simply his arbitrary nature, being a Shinigami was his way of life and source of income - protecting the weak was the last thing on his mind. His vision narrowed onto his opponent then flickered back to the distance, the source of the sound. Could be a bounty on that hollow, could be worth a good amount of ryo. The thought hit Shin like a bag of bricks, he would be damned if he would let a perfectly good chance of money slip through his fingers.
"Would've loved to stay and chat but... got things to do." The words fell from his lips slowly but surely. The tension between the two was practically tangible but Shin didn't allow himself to falter or get distracted. Suddenly, he moved full speed, quickly swiping up his zanpakuto before stepping back. In truth, Shin saw her as beneath him, not worthy of his time in all honesty. "Count yourself luck, guess I gotta kill you some other time." He said with a teasing chuckle as he sheathed his blade with his good hand. He turned on his heels and before her eyes he would disappear with a technique she was probably familiar with. Shunpo. Going the complete opposite direction, he would be seemingly gone before her eyes.
In truth, Shin wasn't sure if that hollow saved his life or hers.
(OOC: Both parties agreed to end the thread here. Fight ends in a draw.)
