Douma built much of his success on fear. He created a horrifying image of himself, a masked Angel of Silence that stripped his enemies of their life without mercy. He was cruel and evil. The more infamous he grew, the more fear he struck into the hearts of his victims. Douma had mastered applying that very terror in combat, but Anarchy was different. He was immune to Douma’s illusions, but worst of all, he played the game better than Douma possibly could.
The mercenary was unsure how many tricks Anarchy had up his sleeve. Nebel would be useful once more, but Anarchy knew how to think multiple steps ahead. He couldn’t resort to the same defense, so this time, he pulled out a new card. While Douma was struck by the effects of Ken for a split second, he was anticipating some sort of application of gravitational pressure that Anarchy had used before to intimidate the rogue. Ken was far more potent, but Douma was still able to anticipate it, giving him more awareness of his surroundings than he would have had if Anarchy surprised him.
With the mirror blocking his vision, Douma was forced to rely on his energy sensory. He felt the exchange unfold before him. Raw energy pulsed around Anarchy, halting the movement of the Angel’s blade and pushing Anarchy back against the mirror. It was a good recovery tool, allowing him to build distance and strategize. Perhaps he was considering Douma’s offer. If the fight ended then and there with the establishment of an alliance, the mercenary would be satisfied.
But things rarely go his way.
“ ”Ohhh….did I scare you that much? Are you going to hide in there until I leave?” How annoying. It seemed that Anarchy had an even bigger head than Kagami Murai did. But Douma would humor him. The rogue vanquished the mirrors around him to face his opponent directly. ”If you’ve noticed, I don’t play well with others. Plus, how can I work with a mercenary that would rather hide than face me? What grudge do you hold that requires all of them to be destroyed?”
Douma was unphased by the taunts. He wasn’t about to get baited into fighting against an enemy that would almost certainly defeat him. Anarchy only revealed a glimpse of his true power. He was hiding himself well, careful to keep his true self a secret. Douma wasn’t about to give the bount unnecessary information when Anarchy insisted on hiding himself.
“The source of our hate does not matter. What does matter is that our rage is targeted at the same thing. I am asking for an alliance, nothing more. You do not have to trust me, only work along side me to bring down a common enemy. Then, we can part ways. And if you believe that just my help is insufficient, then it might help you to know that allying yourself with me gives you access to a network of other powerful individuals, some even stronger than I.
“The choice is yours, Anarchy. Stand alone or help me raise an army to bring your enemies down.”
