Evaluating The New Member

Mictian stood in the white room with one of the male members of Uzaki Enterprises. To be more specific it was a male that went by the name Prime. Mictian wasn't sue if that was his real name or not and quite frankly he didn't much care. This was the first time that he had met Jak and all he could tell was that the man wasn't normal human if he was one at all. He had been told that she was assigned to test out his actual abilities in a training session together.

The both of them had moved to one of the elevators of the company's main building in Karakura town. Once inside Mictian had done as he was told by one of the senior members and input a specific code that brought them down to this strange room. It was rather big being about one hundred feet in length and width so it was a fair amount of space. The walls were completely white and Mictian could only think about how the color was the same as his hair. Now the thing was that the both of them had stepped out of the elevator and walked into the room. When they did that the elevator was sealed behind a wall and neither of them seemed to be able to figure out how to unseal the elevator.

"Well might as well get started then. It might just be the higher ups don't want either of us leaving until we're done here." Mictian spoke as he turned around and began to walk deeper into the training room. He walked for a few moments and when he reached about the middle of the room he turned back around at Jak with a grin. "Let's see if they sent me someone who I can truly test my limitations on." Mictian grinned as he raised his arms upwards. The backs of his hands were out facing Jak and flat upwards he was in the southern praying mantis stance and ready for something to happen right away.

Jak rode down the elevator with his arms crossed across his chest. He had been requested to train with one of the new comers. He didn't mind doing it at all. In fact he loved to get to know the new recruits this way. He was a low man on the totem pole, but he didn't care about ranks or authority. That stuff just got in the way of a fight with other people, and none of it mattered at all when it came to fighting hollows. He felt like big brother of the new hires. Toughening everyone up so they could move on and get stronger. 

Jak spared a few glances at the kid he was fighting. He didn't know anything about him really, except that he looked a few years younger than himself. Jak didn't see any weapons or anything on the kid, so he concluded that he was either a hand to hand fighter like himself, or he was some sort of ranged fighter. He had faced Quincys that shot arrows of reitsu, and shinigami that used...what did they call it...Kido? Jak was not out of the loop on long range attacks himself. His mod soul abilities were long ranged which gave him better diversity.

When they reached the floor of the training area, Jak walked out to meet his opponent in the middle. Jak could sense a little bit when it comes to his opponent's power, but he really didn't feel anything that impressive coming from the boy. Maybe he had just fought off his first hollow and brought in, he thought with a slight nod. "Well might as well get started then. It might just be the higher ups don't want either of us leaving until we're done here."

Jak snapped out of his head when he heard the boy speak to him. He nodded with a cocky smile on his face. "Let's see if they sent me someone who I can truly test my limitations on." That statement right there made Jak suddenly burst out into laughter. He wasn't trying to mock the kid, but did he not know who Jak was? Jak held his stomach as he laughed slowly catching him breath and composing himself. He straightened pointing to his chest with his thumb.

"Are you saying that they did not tell you about me? The man that can destroy the biggest hollows with a single attack. The man that took own an army of zombies with one attack. I am the big brother of new hires. I am Jak Halcom, and I can tell you now that you would be hard pressed to find a more worthy opponent." He wasn't bragging, or at least wasn't trying to. He put one foot forward and pushed out his chest putting his fists on his hips in a sort of triumphant pose.

The Chief was in a good mood today. She had arranged for not one, but two, of Uzaki Enterprises’ new members to get evaluated today. Preliminary reports showed they were actually sane, which was fairly rare lately it seemed. Hell, even if one of them was batshit crazy, she was willing to settle for one competent employee. Today’s specimens were both largely unknown. There was Jak, the half demon, and Mictian, another rogue Shinigami. She had a decent idea of what Shinigami were capable of, rogue or not. Iwa, her mentee, was a rogue as well, and had given out plenty of valuable intel. The only variables there were his release, and whether he specialized in melee combat or magic.

And then there was Jak, the self-proclaimed half-demon. Yoko had been lectured by Shinigami before, but they never mentioned Hell or demons. Was this guy just delusional, or was there more going on here than meets the eye? The easiest way was to get him to show off some hell powers… whatever those were. It couldn’t be too hard to judge whether or not a power was actually demonic, could it? Either way, Yoko’s objective here was the same as it always was. She was here to document the strengths and weaknesses of the new hires. Whether it was physical, mental, or social, she factored it in. If Uzaki Enterprises was going to be a useful force in the spiritual world, they needed to get their act together, and that required intel.

Since this was supposed to be nice and official, Yoko was wearing her uniform today. It was a simple getup. Charcoal with gold accents, it was a bit like a formal military uniform, but her lower half had a skirt that went all the way down to the top of her boots, and it was open in front. Now, Yoko was no exhibitionist. There were slacks underneath the skirt. If either of them had been around Uzaki Enterprises prior to today, then they’d probably seen Yoko in that uniform already. Well, that was true if they had ever stopped by security at least. It was the same thing she almost always wore while she was on the clock.

Anywho, she headed down to training room two in the basement only moments after the others had gotten there. Thanks to her sharp senses, she was able to hear the two new hires as they spoke, despite still being in the elevator shaft. Mictaian sounded fairly reasonable… but also a bit power hungry. Ah well, as long as he was sane and had a decent head on his shoulders, Yoko could work with him. Then there was Jak. Yoko actually let out a chuckle when she heard his boasting. Sure, he was a half-demon or something, but he was still a new hire. He had a long way to go before he was bossing the newbies around.

Ding ding! The elevator signaled Yoko’s arrival to the underground training cube, and she stepped out into the space. [smear:0000ff]Don’t think we’ve been properly introduced. I’m Yoko, Chief of Security for Uzaki Enterprises. I am assume you,”[/smear:00ffff:1] she motioned towards Mictian, [smear:0000ff]”are the latest Shinigami to join us. And that would make you the half demon.”[/smear:00ffff:1] Background aside, neither of them gave her any bad vibes. It wasn’t like she was dealing with Kitai here. Still, this was the first time that she was dealing with two new recruits at once. [smear:0000ff]”So, there’s a couple ways we can go about this. We can do show and tell, and I can offer pointers, or you guys can beat each other up while I take notes, or you can both try and land a blow that I can actually feel. I’m open to suggestions, as long as I get to see what you guys are capable of.”[/smear:00ffff:1]

Mictian broken the southern praying mantis stance that he had been set in when the demon began to laugh. Mictian was actually offended by such a thing and was beginning to place this Jak in the category of individuals that would make god subjects to test kido upon. As he so blatantly boasted about his accomplishments Mictian let out a sigh of disappointment. "Seriously until you're feared by an entire civilization and labeled as the God of the Underworld by thousands. You really can't boast Jak."

That was when the female made her way into the training room. Immediately Mictian took sight of her and his jaw pretty much dropped. "Holy hell! Who's that? How can a girl even be that gorgeous?" Mictian simply starred at her for a few moments without realizing it. He couldn't think she was too beautiful and his mind was locked on that bit of information until she began to speak. She was the chief of security it seemed and she was here to evaluate them both.

Mictian hadn't known this and now it seemed things were more interesting. She knew that he was a Shinigami yet she said the newest also. "There must be another rogue in this organization . . curios I'll have to fine out more about that." Mictian thought over that little bit of information as she spoke about the half demon and then about how they might go about displaying their abilities.

In all regards Mictian was still far weaker than he had been when he was a member of the kido corps in Soul Society. Not a lot of the sealed off power had been reclaimed and only a small amount of kido was usable again. Mictian seriously doubted he'd be able to deal with this goddess of a woman. "I'll do whichever one you please considering you're just to beautiful to tell no."

Jak snickered as the boy's jaw dropped. He laced his fingers behind his head arching his back slightly. He watched the head of security approach and introduced herself. A bit on anger flared up when she referred to him as "the half demon". He had a name and she would should be referring to him as such. The anger flashed in his eyes for just a moment before it was gone."The arm must have given that away huh?" He said with a little chuckle. She wanted to know how they wanted to go about showing their abilities. Jak just shrugged slightly.

"Personally I would prefer a fight. I don't care if it is against you or him." He said nodding to the rouge. So he was a shinigami as well. He definitely have been meeting more than his fair share of them. It was getting a bit ridiculous in his mind. He was there to fight. Any of the business aspects of the job were just there to get in the way, as far as Jak was concerned. Truth be told, he would have preferred to fight her instead. She seemed more capable than the rouge was.

Typical. It seemed that the latest Shinigami to join Uzaki Enterprises had attempted to get into her good graces via flattery. That wasn’t a good plan. In days past, Yoko probably would have knocked him out for such a comment, but she’d grown in the last several years. It didn’t win him any brownie points, but it didn’t get his head lopped off either. More annoying was his indecision. Sure, it was nice to have soldiers that would follow orders, but Yoko needed to teach him a bit of respect. This was a military organization after all, and Yoko was their commanding officer at the moment. She had assumed that a former Shinigami would’ve understood that much, but it seemed she was mistaken.

And then there was Jak. He was beginning to seem like the type that she’d need to put a shock collar on. He was eager for battle. Too eager. Wanting to test your limits was fine, but the lack of care about who he fought was a troubling sign. Frankly it reminded her of Kitai a bit. Still, even if he was battle hungry, he didn’t seem to be insane. Jak was still someone she could work with. They both were. Neither of them was perfect as they were, but it was within tolerance. So long as Jak had an off button, and Mictian could learn proper respect, they would probably make fine soldiers.

Of course, it seemed that Yoko had to tell them what to do in the end. It was to be expected since she was the ranking officer in the room, but she really had hoped for a little bit more initiative. [smear:0000ff]”Well, since one of you doesn’t care, and the other just wants to hit things, we’ll do this the fair way.”[/smear:00ffff:1] The Chief brought her left leg and arm back as she settled into a narrow fighting stance. Her weight was in the back, ready to bounce out of range if needed. As opposed to her usual stances, this one her left arm hidden behind her back. It wasn’t a completely horrible stance though; her right arm still covered most of her torso, and it could easily shift to cover her face.

[smear:0000ff]”One arm, no reiatsu, and 25 percent of my strength. That should be enough for a warmup, and shouldn’t kill anyone when I hit you. Attack when ready.”[/smear:00ffff:1] She expected them to take it as an insult, but these were probably fair conditions. If she didn’t hold back her strength, there was a good chance one of them would end up dead before the day was over, and that was no way to treat new hires. Sure, she could’ve just held back and not told them, but this was a good way to gauge their reactions. Would they dislike her for holding back, or even go as far as to just charge angrily at her? Perhaps they would think it meant she was confident or incredibly powerful. The Chief was interested in how they responded to her both physically and mentally. It was an important part of her job, and she wasn’t going to neglect it on the off chance that she might hurt someone’s feelings.

Mictian was at first slightly surprised by the confidence in this member of UE. She not only was beautiful yet spoke like a warrior and believed she was strong. "Damn this girl's hot." Mictian stayed quiet while she spoke and when the decision was made that he would actually be working alongside the half demon Jak against this member by the name of Yoko he wasn't sure how to react. He just stood there for few moments unsure of what to actually do.

It took him a few moments and then his brain clicked. He shook his head from side to side real quick and then tried to gather himself for a moment. The stance that Yoko was in was one that seemed strangely similar to something that Mictan himself might use yet he couldn't understand why right off he top of his head. His eyes went to work and he began to review the stance that Yoko was in just so he would know about it later on.

Mictian was a few feet away from Yoko yet it seemed like she would be able to close the distance far to quickly and it wasn't safe. Lifting his right hand up and outwards towards Yoko Mictian begins to channel his reiatsu throughout his are and into the palm of his hand. Placing his left hand on the inside of his elbow to support his arm Mictian stares at Yoko now an expression that he was taking the training seriously.

"Hado number 34 Kongōbaku!" Just lie that a ball of molten fire seemed to just materialize in front of Mictian's right palm. After a moment the ball launched out right towards Yoko aimed to hi her dead in the center. "God damn it why do I have to burn such a perfect woman this is bullshit." Mictian really just hoped that he wasn't coming off as a weakling while at the same time not going to leave Yoko burnt to the point she was no longer a blessing to gaze upon.

[Jak Halcom]

Jak smiled when the woman told them that they both would be fighting her. He was glad for it. He could sense more power from her to start with, and how much better could he get from beating up someone weaker than he was? Not very much if at all by Jak's reasoning. Jak got into a fighting position of his own. He kept his feet shoulder width apart left food in front. He held both hands even with his eyes hands balled into fists. He kept his wight on the balls of his feet ready to spring at a moments notice.

The shinigami acted first though. He used his kido to fire a fire ball at the woman. Jak had an idea and decided to run with it. He ran behind the fire ball keeping up with it for the most part closing enough distance since she should be focusing on the fire ball itself. He would then use Caelumintro to get behind the woman. He would get low and plant a side kick right to the center of her back which would send her into the air.

Well, they definitely could have done worse. Mictian opened with a fireball not too much larger than a basketball. Could Yoko have just dodged it? Sure. That wasn’t why she was here though. She wanted to see just how strong these two were, and dodging wasn’t going to help her figure that out one bit. Instead, she met the fireball head on. The Chief extended her right arm towards the flames. Their warmth, though brief, was rather pleasant. Once the sphere of Hado was near enough, she calmly snapped her hand shut. The motion itself occurred while the flames were still about half a foot away: plenty of distance to avoid direct contact. There was no physical contact, but the flames simply flickered and vanished.

If either of the new hires had the ability to sense energy, they undoubtedly would’ve looked for a reiatsu based explanation. There was none. This was a feat of pure strength. It was the Fist of Unbroken Air, an extremely high level move utilized by masters of Kunlun. The simple motion of closing her hand had caused 200 strength worth of air to rush out and envelop the flames. Since she was holding back, it was only enough to put out the fire. There was no residual trace of the flow of air more than a few inches beyond where the far end of where the fireball had been. It would take far more than a single fireball, announced openly, to get the best of Yoko.

Jak, it seemed, was trying to bring something a bit more. He had used the fireball as a distraction to attempt to get the upper hand. He had even used a step technique to get behind Yoko. It was too bad for him that it was too straightforward a plan to succeed. The fireball wasn’t large enough to fully hide his body from view, so it didn’t matter much that he slipped in behind it. Still, the Chief gave him credit. Were it a larger attack, it would’ve been a valid way to get a surprise attack in. As it had happened though, the Fullbringer had literally seen it coming.

Underestimating New Hires was rarely a good strategy, especially when was just warming up. Jak hadn’t seemed too chuffed by Yoko’s self-limitation, but that didn’t mean he was holding back at all. His base speed, assuming that was his maximum, wasn’t horribly slow compared to the Chief’s own abilities. If she wasn’t careful, he could land hits fairly easily. But that was theory, not practice. Yoko had seen him slip in behind the fireball, and she had seen him vanish with some kind of stepping technique. She had never seen that specific variant, but her eyes and instincts were sharp enough to know what to expect. He was pointed for an appearance right behind her, and that was where he popped up.

At that moment, the only question in Yoko’s mind was whether or not Jak was as strong as he was fast. He appeared behind her only a second after she crushed the fireball, so there wasn’t too much time for an elaborate defense. Instead, she just spun and placed her hand in the path of the half-demon’s foot. Though Jak was fast, he was still the slower of the two of them, and he was fighting a Kunlun master. Landing a kick was not that easy. That said, he was surprisingly strong. It wasn’t a huge gap, but he was above the limit that the Chief was holding herself to. That first kick was enough to push her blocking arm back towards her, but his brute force was his downfall.

Jak wasn’t a trained martial artist. His stance made it obvious. Yeah, he knew how to fight, but it wasn’t an art form with him. It was brutal and effective, but that kind of street fighting often lacked in certain areas. As an expert martial artist, Yoko was aware of that weakness. She let Jak follow through on his kick, but both her and her hand slipped down and away, under the half-demon's leg. She lowered herself into a spin close to the ground, her left leg outstretched. Her target? Jak’s other leg. It was a fairly elementary spinning leg sweep, but with all Jak’s momentum going forward, it would definitely be tricky for him to deal with.

Hit or miss, Yoko rose back up and took a few steps past the half-demon. On her last step, she cheated a little bit. She stomped down with double the limit of strength she said she was going to use, cracking the floor enough to pop a baseball sized hunk of rock up into the air. Sure, 400 strength was breaking her own rule right away, but she had only meant she was holding back to 200 strength against them. As of yet, they were not the floor. Cheating or not, the rock popped up into her hand. The Chief turned and chucked it at Mictian. She only threw it with 200 strength, but it had her full 300 speed behind it. Thus far, he had played out like a mage, and she was curious if this mage knew how to dodge.

Mictian watched as the molten fireball kido that he had just created was fired off towards Yoko. He was watching her closely this time not due to her magnificent body, but her actual reaction to the kido soaring through the air at her. What he saw immediately that made stare in disbelieve was the fact that she wasn't going to dodge. "Damn it why do all the pretty ones have to be so dangerous." Just like that his kido suddenly was gone like it was snapped out from every existing.

Mictian had been watching closely and saw that Yoko's body never actually was touched by his kido. "I've got to keep her from doing anything to land a single hit it seems." That was when Mictian saw the appearance of Jak right behind Yoko. What came next was a physical clash that Mictian knew with his body he wouldn't be able to keep up with against either of them. Right now he was far below either of them in physical regards and it seemed that the demon was on the losing side of this encounter.

Yoko displayed such speed yet one movement alone was so similar that Mictan's jaw dropped open again and his right hand extended outwards pointing at her in shock. The way she was dodging and attacking wasn't completely the same yet it looked so similar to Baguazhang. Mictian was having a difficult time believing that. What were the chances that Yoko would know that martial art he had to just be assuming. So as Yoko stood up Mictian collected himself again snapping back into fight mode.

Yoko then stomped on the floor of the training room and Mictian's eyes went droopy and a frown arced his face while his shoulders slumped. "You've got to be kidding me." Yoko had just broken a piece of the floor off yet it rose into her hand. Mictian watched believing that the goddess would use it to Smash Jak over the head. Yet as her body turned he instantly used shunpo. The white haired Shinigami lunged with the speed of his shunpo to the right.

He rolled onto the ground stopping with his right leg as he now knelt on the ground facing Yoko. His arms were out in the same manner as before when he had casted the molten fireball. "Bakudo #61 Rikujokoro" Mictian hoped that by using what little talent he hadn't had stolen from him in mental incantation that the six rods of light would be able to slam into Yoko. He knew that the kido although strong in it' right wouldn't be able to hold her due to his reiatsu still only baring scratching the surface of what it once was.

That was when Mictian felt the pain throughout his arms. He hadn't noticed it that badly when he cast the firs kido, but this time it was very present like little knives being dragged across his arms. He bit down on his lower lip fighting off the pain as he composed himself. "Hado #40 Gouzen Demizu" Mictian pointed right below yet in front of Yoko and with that a large amount of water would suddenly burst from the floor creating a wall between her and him. Mictian would then thrust his arms forward feeling the pain of casting the kido rush up his spine this time. He fought it off the best he could as the water wall would hopefully slam into Yoko.

Jak felt her catch his foot as she blocked it. He swore to himself as he felt himself pulled by his leg and his support foot swept out from under him. Luckily Jak was able to position himself to land on his side, so that he didn't harm himself too much when once he hit the ground. He groaned slightly getting back to his feet. He would not let that one move keep him down. He still had a lot of fight left in him. She had walked past him confronting the Shinigami. 

He dodged the rock that she threw at him, though Jak was amazed that she was able to get the rock with only a stomp of her foot. He then saw that the boy was using more Kido. It was obvious that he was not the physical type. It seemed that he was trying to stall her and then attack her with a wall of water. That was not the only thing that Jak noticed about the boy. He seemed to be in quite a bit of pain. Like using his techniques was very strainious on his body.

Jak didn't have time to think about that. While the chief was distracted, He fired off two dozen spirit bolts out all around her. Once the last one was in place, Jak thrust his hands out in her direction, and all of the spirit bolts flew right at her from nearly every angle. They had a very minor homing capability, so if she starts to move, they would track her only a few degrees before slamming into the ground where their target was previously.

Training the newbies had some benefits. Not only did the Chief get to show off for the newcomers, but she got to enjoy their reactions as well. Most of them were fairly boring to work with, but Mictian had her rather amused. It wasn’t often that someone actually let their jaw drop in response to one of her attacks. His reaction to the rock getting chucked at him was the expected one: he used… what did the Shinigami call it? Shunpo! That was the one! Yeah, he used Shunpo to dodge, but… well… was it Shunpo? His body movements made it look like it was, but it was so slow for a step technique. From eyeballing it, the Chief figured it wasn’t any faster than her base movement speed. She was going to have to work on that with him.

Sadly, she couldn’t daydream about other training forever. In truth, with the restrictions she was under, she actually needed to pay attention. She didn’t have the get out of jail free card right now. Bringer Light could get her out of the way of just about anything, but she said no reiatsu. Mictian closed the distance between them fairly quickly, but it wasn’t so quick that Yoko was unable to react. He was simply too slow for him showing up where he did to be a surprise. That didn’t make his attack much less of an annoyance, but it did help a bit. The Rogue’s second attack of the battle went unannounced, which was a welcome improvement. Well, it was nice for him at least.

Bakudo #61: Rikujokoro. Yoko had no clue that was the name of it, and she had no clue what it did. It wasn’t one that she’d seen before, and given how little time she had to analyze it, she just went with Plan A: smack it. Her right arm had come across her chest from throwing the rock a moment ago, and it swept back to her right side. The movement was enough to shatter three of the six bars of light thanks to her raw strength, but the three remaining ones hit her. She managed to rotate ever so slightly, which caused it to not be too bad of a hit. Two of the three bars hit her metal arm, which was still resting on her back. The third got her in the right side on her waist.

If nothing else, she was at least learning. Apparently this move was a paralysis technique. No matter how much she tried, up to the cap of a quarter of her strength that was, she couldn’t get either her left arm or her right leg to move at all. Had she not broken three of the golden bars, it likely would’ve been complete paralysis. A quick punch to one of the bars rectified her leg being stuck, but that had given both of the others enough time to follow up. Mictian had summoned a wall of water, again unannounced, and it was nearly point blank. Jak had contributed a couple handfuls of glowing sticks of doom. Neither looked very fun to get hit by.

Given the omnidirectional attacks, and her self-imposed restrictions, there were only two real options. One: get hit. Two: abuse airbending. Understandably, Yoko opted for door number two. She flexed what she could, which was everything barring her left arm, and spun in a quick circle. Fist of Unbroken Air, used by a master, didn’t require anything as obvious as a punch or a kick. No, all it took was a bit of movement. Even something as basic as flexing a muscle was capable of causing a burst of air to shoot out. If she flexed everything at once, well that just meant she had an omnidirectional burst of air. However, she didn’t have the use of her left arm, so a quick spin was needed to ensure full coverage.

There was still one question in Yoko’s mind. Was this level of strength, only a quarter of her maximum, enough to stave off Jak’s attack? She knew his physical strength exceeded the level she was using, but this was his first demonstration of a spiritual attack. It was possible that he was like her, and his reiatsu was horribly weak, but he could also just be a mage that happened to be quite strong. Either way, both the wave of water and the scatter shot impacted her sphere of air at the same time. Based on how far the bolts of reiatsu got before they blew up, Yoko figured they were probably a bit stronger than her current strength limit as well. Still, they hit resistance and exploded right away. The combination of the sphere of air and the explosions were enough to fend off the wall of water; it simply went wide, unable to penetrate the sphere of air. As for the explosions, Fist of Unbroken Air was enough to keep her safe from those as well. It was a bit harder to tell that without energy sensory though, as the explosions had created a cloud of dust around her.

Little details amidst the chaos were not lost to Yoko either. She had intended for a warmup to start, but it seemed like they weren’t holding back that much. Mictian already appeared to be in pain for some reason, despite not having taken a hit. It was time to take five and switch gears a bit. From within the dust, Yoko spoke to the new hires. [smear:0000ff]”Not bad at all. Let’s take a step back now though.”[/smear:00ffff:1] As the Chief continued to talk, the dust cleared enough to reveal she was unharmed. [smear:0000ff]”Let’s go over that attack sequence a bit, and see how everyone thinks they did. Tell me what you think you did right, and then tell me what you think could improve on next time.”[/smear:00ffff:1] Most people tended to think of training as naught but slightly less deadly fights, but Yoko wanted them to learn something from this training session. That, and it would be interesting to see if they were aware of the flaws she had noticed in their attacks. Even if they didn’t learn anything, this would give them an opportunity to recover some stamina and reiatsu before continuing on.

Mictian watched as his kido of light appeared and moved towards Yoko. It was going to work just like he wanted it to and how he planned that was until he saw the movement Yoko was going for. She was fast enough to actually smash half of the rods before they slammed into her. She broke the kido easily and Mictian continued his assault in disbelieve and awe. He knew that humans shouldn't be able to break kido yet Yoko was doing it in such an easy manner that her strength must be monstrous.

As his wall of water rushed towards her Mictian watched the red orbs of reiatsu that Jak had produced which he questioned honestly. "Well if he's half demon he has to be something else. I wonder what the other half is though." It was a strange type of attack and from what Mictian could see it was much like a kido. What happened next was yet another thing that made Mictian freak out in disbelief. Wind seemed to just occur in a dome like manner around Yoko as she somehow managed to spin.

The water kido that he had sent towards her just seemed to be blocked and so did the reiatsu orbs that moved in on Yoko. As the dust cleared and Yoko began to speak Mictian paid little attention for his reaction was still occurring. Mictian had already made it very apparent that he was surprised at what Yoko had already done. Yet now he back was hunched over his arms with no control just down. His jaw was open and he just uttered a disbelieving sigh.

"This is insane how in the hell was she able to count all of that." So Yoko wanted to go over everything that just happened and point out the flaws. Well that wasn't something that Mictian liked to hear. Yet he wanted to ask something first and then point something out. "Where exactly are we starting from? The very beginning or that last one? Also how the HELL can what we did be considered flawed when it's against your beautiful blonde ass that apparently can't be stopped!" Mictian was standing straight now and starring over at Yoko a bit of anger in his voice.

Jak was not able to understand what had just happened. She should have been hit several times over from the combined forces of the shinigami's kido and Jak's spirit bolts. Somehow the woman was able to break free of the the shinigami's kido and somehow stopped all the attacks from hitting her with what appeared to be wind. Jak had to wait for the smoke to subside to be sure that she was unharmed, and of course she was. Jak clenched his fists tighter in frustration trying to figure out what was going on when the woman spoke.

So she wanted them to figure out why their attack's didn't work? Jak did not see why that mattered. All that mattered was that one set of attacks didn't work, so all he had to do was figure out what would work against her, or find a way to slip in the spirit bolts. They were wasting time just sitting there talking. He wasn't about to just attack her though. He knew that she was still holding back, and that would only get him lectured and beaten at best, and fired or killed at worst. He crossed his arms glaring at the woman's back.

"I think it doesn't matter." Once he was done hearing the shinigami's pointless question. "All that matters is that we figure out what will work, and throwing things in the heat of battle is the only, and best way to do it." He got into a more aggressive stance, but not necessarily a fighting stance. He was itching to get the training back on course. It was always his experience that pain and battle were the best teachers, and that got him this far.

Getting a rise out of Yoko wasn’t that easy. To date, the only employee who had truly managed to piss her off was Kitai. Everyone else tended to just disappoint her rather than truly anger her. That was the case with both Mictian and Jak as well. Both of them had some redeeming factor, but neither of them seemed to be exceptionally sharp. First, there was the rogue Shinigami. Yes, he was willing to at least discuss tactics and strategy, but rather than delving into possible answers, he didn’t even know when or where to start. Perhaps there was a tactical genius buried away in there, but it was locked away quite nicely if that was the case.

As if his inability to just jump into the analysis wasn’t enough of a letdown, he then shifted into excuse mode. Worse still, his excuse was to blame his own ineptitude on the opponent being too strong. Oh, and there was the bit where he referred to Yoko as a “beautiful blonde ass.” Saying that was unwise would be like saying Hitler only murdered a couple people. Just a teensy bit of an understatement. Honestly, it took the Chief a moment to acknowledge he had actually just said that. This wasn’t just stupid, it was outright disrespect. Any attempt at praising her strength or skill was completely overshadowed by his method of referring to her.

All that stopped Yoko from using Bringer Light to fly over and break… something… off of Mictian for that remark was that Jak spoke up right away. That distracted the Chief from the disrespect given to her just long enough for her to let it go without beating some sense into the new hire. Though Jak was respectful enough, his response still showed that he had quite a bit to learn. There was something to be said for his willingness to just keep trying until he succeeded. Determination and perseverance were useful traits, but it was usually the smarter fighter that won the battle, not the stronger one. Thus far, Jak was still weak enough that he’d encounter plenty of enemies he couldn’t force his way through. He needed to learn how to think if he wanted to be truly strong.

Both of them needed a bit of a talking to, and Yoko gave them just that. [smear:0000ff]”First things first. Mictian, in case you forgot, I’m your superior officer. Luckily, I’m in a good mood today, so I’m going to forget what you just referred to me as.”[/smear:00ffff] That was the calm before the storm. Anyone with the tiniest hint of social awareness could tell the kindness in her voice was fake and forced. Clearly, she had tried to be nice to the new hire, but that wasn’t like her. No, the words that followed in a much more harsh tone showed how she truly felt. [smear:0000ff]”Don’t do that again if you value the prospect of having children.”[/smear:00ffff] And there it was. She wasn’t ever one to pull punches, and that was about as blunt as it got.

[smear:0000ff]”On a more productive note, I was hoping to start from the beginning.”[/smear:00ffff] Back to business, right like that. Yoko had dealt with worse than a bit of disrespect. Sure, she had to show that it wouldn’t be tolerated, but she still had plenty of work to do with these two. [smear:0000ff]”That is, of course, if Jak is willing to join us. If not, I’m more than willing to save the analysis for later, but I think there’s plenty that can be improved on by taking just a few moments to think about this. If you just keep throwing attacks against a foe stronger than you, it’s unlikely to work, but if you stop to analyze their weaknesses you can bring down someone far stronger than you are. That’s what I want you both to learn.”[/smear:00ffff]
