It is said that once, long, long ago, there was a rebellion amongst the Royal Guard, the fabled Zero Division, when one of the members tried to usurp the Soul King. Another third of the Zero Division followed their leader in his attempt, however they were ultimately defeated by the Soul King, and cast down. They fell from Soul Society to the deepest pits of Hell, their powers twisted into a horrible parody of what they once were. They became the Demons of Hell, powerful entities lead by Lucifer, their leader.
This knowledge is, of course, confidential. Few captains know of the Zero Division, and fewer still know about the origins of the Hell Demons. However, Tsubaki’s knowledge came as a result of Soul Society’s incessant glorification of her sister during both of their Captaincies. It was knowledge that she wished she didn’t have due to the idiotic origins of it. However, it was still appreciated in the sense that it was good data to have. She was lucky that her memory of it remained through the wipe.
Unfortunately, that likely meant that the information wasn’t useful. See, before she was chucked into prison, Tsubaki had her memories wiped. It wasn’t a hack job either, the memories were destroyed with surgical precision, only memories relating to Kido, Science, the knowledge that she had acquired during her Captaincy that made her such a potent foe, all of them were removed. She got to keep memories of her family however. And she remembered losing the memories, she just didn’t remember the specifics of what was lost.
This…violation, was absolutely unforgivable, and Tsubaki had vowed vengeance on those who condoned her mental mutilation. Luckily for her, Satsujun believed that with time and effort, her memories could be recovered, and because of that she was allowed to join Xcution, as she was potentially a valuable research resource. And even more luckily, her potential knowledge made her a “person of importance”, and she was kept under very, very close watch. On the one hand, it meant she never had real privacy, there was no way for her to get private research done.
On the other hand, it meant that she had an Xcution assassin watching her every move, ready to kill anyone who got close to her (or her, if she defected). Although she didn’t know the assassin, she had a sneaking suspicion that it was one of the two men that broke her out of Prison. One had appeared from nowhere and stabbed two guards to death, and the other had disguised himself as a guard, revealing himself during the breakout by ripping the skull out of a nearby guard and chucking it with enough force to break another guard in half.
She had clearly been of some value to Satsujun by that point, although she was uncertain why.
However, now she was leaving that past behind her. Ex-Captain Tsubaki was dead. In this case, quite literally. The Xcutioners had left a corpse behind that looked like her, and made sure to burn the prison block. So everyone in Soul Society who cared (which was likely not that many, unfortunately) thought that she was dead. This was a fresh start, a clean slate, and she was going to celebrate it. She’d devoted the first week upon entering Xcution to relearning some basic Kido, so that she wouldn’t be defenseless. And now, now she was ready to begin her story once again from the beginning, and scar her name into history for generations to come.
