It had been a rather... unusual day in Seireitei. Unusual in comparison to everyday, ordinary, other places, anyway; events around a specific Captain often ended in chaos and confusion, to say the least. The day had begun simply enough, with only a small fire in the back of the Squad 9 barracks. Fires in the barracks were not uncommon, partially because accidents did happen during training, and partially because the Captain occasionally tried to cook for himself. That was handled with an air of familiarity, water drawn and fires doused only minutes after they started. A large area of the barracks was blackened, but none of the facilities were damaged severely, so repairs were ordered and the day moved forward as if nothing had happened.
But then there had been the strikes of lightning off in one of the Rukongai districts, crashing out of one of the now-numerous taverns that had been set up in the area. The result had left one of the walls missing half of its surface, the next building over missing the entirety of its wall, and a few injured people. Luckily, no one was seriously hurt, but first aid had been required, and one person did have a broken arm from fragments of the wall falling atop him. This incident was not let go as easily as the last, but the culprit was gone before he could be spoken to on the matter. Fortunately, he was not hard to find... though it was just as easy for the same person to cause trouble again only a few times later. This time, there was a severe amount of flood damage that filled several of the streets in Seireitei proper, causing water damage to multiple buildings and putting one at structural risk. The roads would have to be repaved as well, another project that was part of a long-growing list.
That was why a Hell Butterfly had arrived at the Kido Corps Barracks, specifically sent to Kyomei Kuchiki, the Captain of that particular division. The message was simple: Squad One was sending several members over escorting an important individual that needed to be dealt with, and that they would arrive shortly. Indeed, Kyomei was given barely twenty minutes to prepare himself for who knew what had happened before an annoucement came that several members from Squad One had shown up, along with the Captain of Squad 9. The latter had not been announced, though it was obvious that he was the “important individual” that the message had mentioned; atop that, the Captain's reputation preceded him, and would probably give the Kido Corps leader an idea of what he was in for.
It was going to be a very long day.
“So... yeah, that's what happened...” Raion grinned sheepishly, a bit embarrassed, and the glares from the six Squad One officers who had escorted him were not helping matters. All of them were watching him with a hawk-like stare, unwilling to take their eyes off of the big lion, and for good reason; the Captain had tried to slip away three different times, twice into various bars and once through the window of a nearby building. Of course, the last one had been an abysmal failure, given Raion's size, and he had been forcibly dragged out and down the street before finally agreeing to cooperate, and following his escort to the Kido Corps barracks. Once Kyomei had come to greet them, Raion had been forced to explain just why he was in trouble, particularly the many things that had exploded or caught fire. Naturally there were a few... minor... embellishments here and there, but they were quickly corrected, much to the lion's disadvantage.
“So ya see, ah... they want me to stay with ya for a bit, and ah...” Raion was quickly cut off by one of the other officers, who was tired of waiting for the lion's stories to conclude. “Captain Souretsu was sent to you in order to receive training not just in the art of using his Kido more effectively and less haphazardly, but also to learn some self-control and restraint... and as you are one of the greatest practitioners of Kido, and we do not wish to stifle the Captain's... abilities, but wish to curtail his behavior, it was determined that he would be sent to you for further training. In other words, he's your problem now.” With that, Raion was given a rude shove, which really did little given that he was probably three times the man's weight and had plenty of strength behind it. If anything, it felt more like a consolatory pat on the back to the Captain, but he wasn't worried; he had never had bad relations with Kyomei in the past.
“So ah... hi. Sorry fer droppin' in on such short notice!”
