Currently, Nontyped is effectively useless. While it's meant to be "the average person", that is what Soldier has become, with it's single specialization and single weakness. Instead, Nontyped has become something almost purely for NPCs, as it allows for no advantage for any RPC. This isn't innately a bad thing, since it has no disadvantage, but in the current meta of the site, there s no real point to ever making a character nontyped. Which doesn't make sense, because not every character fits into the established types. Nontyped has become almost a punishment, a way of reducing the effectiveness of characters without defining characteristics. Admittedly this sounds a little overly dramatic, but it is the only way I can really think of conveying the core message.
So what should be done? I propose that Nontyped receives a small buff, one which has slight precedence. The precedence comes in the form of Leader, which is a type that can be switched to at any point without requiring a CIU, under a few conditions. One, the person must already belong to one of several listed types, and two, the person must be Rank 4, and be the leader of an organization. How does Leader relate? I propose that Nontyped also receives the ability to change Types without a CIU, with certain restrictions and conditions. These conditions would serve to make it so Nontyped cannot change easily, requiring significant IC reasons to change, and so that it doesn't gain undue versatility from this change.
The first proposed restriction is the list of Types that Nontyped can change into. Of course it shouldn't be able to change into any release related Type (ie Soul Specialist), or any Type that relates to the individuals innate characteristics (Cripple, or Prodigy). I propose the following list: Fighter V1, Runner, Clown, Cunning, Strategist, Freak, or Soldier. Of course the Nontyped must meet any requirements imposed by the Type before they are able to change. For instance, once a Nontyped character has learned Kido, they are no longer eligible to change to Fighter V1. If they've developed an offensive release, they cannot be a Cunning type, and so forth. Furthermore, they should also have developed a personality that fits their archetype.
The second restriction is that the Nontyped individual must have reached a certain level as Nontyped. They must have reached a level where they can manifest their classes primary release. For some types, this is easier attained than others. For reference, Shinigami get Shikai at Class 4, Rogues would unlock it at Class 7 (assuming that any Bakkoto ability counts as a release), Beast Clan at Class 6, Hollows at Class 6, Fullbringers at Class 5, Bount at Class 7, Mod Souls at Class 5, Quincy at Class 4, Akki at Class 7, Saika at Class 5. Races without Primary releases wouldn't be eligible for the Type switch in this way, meaning that Hasons and Failures, as well as normal Hollows, are SoL. Furthermore, there is another restriction associated with this. While characters unlock the ability to change Type once they've reached that Class level, there are still restrictions on when they are allowed to change Types. People can only change Types upon Classing Up. If they pass at the chance when they first acquire enough points to increase their class, they must then wait until they next increase their class before they get the chance. This means that someone who waits for too long could end up a Class 1 or Class 0 (depending on Race) Nontyped until a CIU occurs. Of course, individuals can only change their Type once.
