"I speak in Sienna.... when I need to."
And I think in Orchid. Thankfully, my thoughts are not as flowery as the colour.

Faceclaim: Captain Levi (Attack on Titan)
When one first meets Shunsui, the first things they usually notice are his eyes. Although one could describe them as narrow and heavy-lidded, they hold an intensity not often found in a person. They are the eyes of someone who devours information at every available opportunity, someone who is drinking in every detail about the environment and the people around him. People often think he looks disinterested, up until the moment he looks at them with those eyes. His irises are dark brown, so dark that they are almost indistinguishable from the pupils that they surround.
Dividing these dark windows is a fine thin nose. It does not turn up, so his nostrils are hidden unless someone goes to the effort of looking up them. His eyebrows are quite far apart, and are quite thin and dark. They slope inwards, pointing towards his nose, giving him an appearance of someone who is permanently displeased with something. His mouth is also narrow, with very thin lips. His teeth and gums are in perfect condition, though people rarely see them. He doesn't really ever smile with his teeth showing, and only flashes of them are visible when he speaks.
His chin is quite small, curving quite close to his mouth. His features are relatively 'low' on his face, leaving him with a small-ish chin, and a rather large forehead. This brow is rarely ever furrowed, he generally has a calm look, even in the most difficult and challenging of situations. All of this creates an almost petulant image, if it weren't for his narrow eyes, which betray his true age and intelligence. His ears are nothing special, rounded like most people's, and he doesn't wear any piercings, unlike when he was a human. He just doesn't see the point anymore. It doesn't contribute much to his overall look.
His hair grows long and thick and the top of his head, and is jet black. He parts it down the centre, letting a thick 'bunch' fall on either side of his forehead. The advantage of having 'low' facial features is that, even with a fringe this length, his hair never gets into his eyes. His hair is of a similar length all the way around his head, obscuring the fact that this haircut was originally an undercut style. Below the level around his head just below the tips of his ears, his hair is actually shaven quite tightly. Given that the rest of his hair is so long, it can be quite difficult to notice this, however one might notice that his sideburns and the area just above them are closely shaven, if his hair falls just the right way.
However, his head and hair are not the only components of his body. While they contain his most important organ, he would not be a very functional soldier without the rest of his body either. Shunsui has the lithe body of a dancer, or perhaps a predatory animal. He is neither particularly short nor particularly tall, however he appears slightly taller than he is due to his slender physique.
His muscles don't 'bulge' like those of a weightlifter, however that doesn't mean they are weak. A good analogy would be steel. A weightlifter might have muscles like steel beams, capable of extraordinary feats of strength, offset by having massive muscles. However, Shunsui's muscles are more like that of steel wire, which is not as strong but is far more elegant and agile. The muscles wrap around his bones tightly, yet are just as hard as the muscles of an Olympic weightlifting champion. If he tenses, his muscles provide just as much definition.
His physique is not perfect, however. His left shoulder is marginally weaker than his right, and the muscles are slightly less developed. This is because this arm was out of action for quite a while when it was pierced by a Quincy arrow. Having been unable to train that arm, it resulted in the slightly lopsided muscle development he has today. It is not disgustingly obvious, and can really only be seen if he removes his shirt. He also bears a scar from that encounter, though it is not a manly 'gash' as a blade might cause, but is instead a small puncture wound, like a cigarette burn on his shoulder.
So, what does Shunsui use to cover his body? While the Shihakushō is very nice, he, like nearly every member of the Gotei 13, likes to put his own unique spin on it. Like every member, he wears the black Hakama and Kosode and keeps it tied with the white Hakama-himo. His Kosode has a slight alteration in that it has a small button affixed further up, allowing the Kosode neckline to be 'raised' when this button is tied. He wears a brooch on his Hakama-himo, quite large and made of intricate gold filigree, and is positioned slightly off and to the side, and has modified it so that it acts as a proper buckle, as opposed to just a decoration. As a result, his Hakama-himo lacks the knot present on most Shinigami's uniform.
However, these are the only elements of the Shihakushō that he kept. Underneath this, he has done away with the traditional Japanese clothing, instead opting for a more Western-styled, butterfly-collared shirt. This is a similar white to the Shitagi, so the general effect is the same. However, it does reach quite far up his neck, making him appear quite formal. Under this, he has tied a silken white cravat, which is decorated by a simple golden brooch in the centre of he knot. The cravat is quite 'full' and covers most of the visible shirt, and is tucked into the raised neckline of his Hakama. He takes it off in particularly intense training sessions and battles, as it is somewhat of a hindrance.
The final alteration is in that of footwear. He does not wear the flat sandals known as waraji, as the arches in his feet are quite bad and his footwear must have adequate support. So, instead he wears thigh-high, black leather boots, each clasped with a single golden buckle. They have padded soles and produce nearly no noise when he walks, and are also very comfortable. The only problem is that the shiny leather often becomes streaked with dust, if he has been wandering the dusty streets of the Rukongai.
However, his general countenance, posture and appearance is quite uptight and serious. Many would find him unapproachable, given his natural tendency towards silence and stillness. He carries himself with nearly perfect posture, and never slouches unless fatigued. He seems to emanate a sense of... sharpness, of mind and of body. Unfortunately, this aura scares off more people than it impresses.
