Zackary Jensen is once again performing a hit. He is interupted by the would-be hero, Yoko Kusanagi. The two erupt into a fight.

"Are preparations complete? I would hate to find that something went wrong." Mayor Akira said, his arms swinging side to side as he was herded down a long hallway. The hallways walls, made from mahogany wood, matched well with the long red carpet that extended down the halls length like some long and massive tongue. Akirya Takahashi, the current and hopefully upcoming Mayor of Kyoto, Japan, was a rather large man. His size represented his power and status, despite in the currents times his size would be mocked. He was surrounded by three men in black suites, each wearing sunglasses. The mayor looked worries, with his young and attractive female assistant following behind him. "Yes sir, the plane is waiting for you at the air field." she said, desperately trying to keep up with with her boss. Despite his size, he was fast. Akira worked out like a machine, he could be called a fathelte proudly.

However, looking at him now one would see a face of panic. Each of his three guards each carried some form of ordinance. They were armed, and they looked dangerous. They surrounded Akira, keeping him safe on all sides. What was going on? The assistant was falling behind, unable to keep up with the large man and his squad in her heels. "Gretchen, is the chopper ready? GRETCHEN!" Akira shouted back. "Y-yes sir, it's ready and waiting on the roof!" she shouted back, trying desperately to keep up. Funny how such a small woman couldn't keep up with such a large man. Akira turned back, biting his lip. He was scared, and it showed.

Mayor Akira was not a very good man. Oh no. He was probably Kyotos worst mayor, the worst they ever had. Akira had many enemies, and some were enemies that you didn't want as enemies. Mayor Akiras first order of business was to cut down the pay of the police force, so that it would force them to work more hours. It was his brilliant plan to improve the cities protection. However, more work and less pay was not what the police wanted. Many officers quit, thus reducing the effectiveness of the police force and thus causing a chain reaction of more crime.

But, that was only one of Akiras sins. What really made Akira a target was the accusation of him being a pedophile. A young girl, around fourteen years old, came forward one day and said in gruesome detail how Akira had touched her during a field trip. There was a court case which ended in the family loosing. The case wasn't strong enough. The father though, no, he was not going to have it. He contacted an old war buddy who knew some people. From those people, the job was requested. And accepted. Why was Akira running? This morning, on his desk, amongst the re-election papers, was a single small playing card with a X on it.

Needles to say, it frightened the man. He immediately armed his guards and was getting ready to escape. He needed to get to his helicopter and then he was home free. Sadly though, he would not even make it that far. They continued walking, sighting the stairs that would lead them to the second floor of the mayors office and then to the roof. Akira frowned, hating the idea of stairs. Gretchen followed behind them, shaking like a leaf. She paused for a second, turning to look in a vacant office and blinked. It was night time outside, yeah, but she was confused why the office was empty. Why were all the offices empty? Yeah, they were understaffed tonight but she knew someone was supposed to be in this office. A horrible thought suddenly came to her mind.

She gasped when suddenly the building went dark. There was a loud hum as the electricity to the building suddenly shut off. Akira and his men froze, the latter whom immediately turned on the laser pointer attachments on their guns and began to scan the area. "O-oh god...no...please." Akira moaned and whimpered, shaking. It was just a power outage, why would he need to be scared? At the end of the hall a door opened, blocking the group from the stairs. In the darkness, a single figure stepped out. There was a green glow in his right hand, as the pendant he kept formed into a wicked black knife. Akiras eyes widened, his lips trembling as he knew what this meant.

"s-shoot him..." Akira whimpered. His guards had their guns raised, but they were also shocked about the situation they were in to follow the command. The man in the darkness took a single step forward, leaning forwards and putting his weight on his left foot. "SHOOOOOT HIM!!!" Akira screamed. The figure vanished. He moved at a speed that the "normal" humans wouldn't even be able to register what had happened. He flew past one of the guards, flicking his arm out as he passed. The man stumbled backwards and gagged. A ridiculous spray of blood escaped his sliced open neck as he fell to the ground. Akira, and Gretchen screamed, as the two guards quickly turned and began to fire. The man jumped as they turned, their bullets striking the floor where he had been. While he wasn't the best at acrobatics, the assassin could move. He moved his legs through the air, flipping over the guards as he shifted his body weight to move more.

He quickly spun, lunging forward and swinging upwards. His black knife cut straight into the second guards back. Being made of spiritual steel, it had no trouble cutting through him and through his spine. The man screamed as he hit the ground. Akira was blubbering, trying to back up. The final guard let out a "GOD DAMN YOOOOOOOOOU!!" as he pointed his gun at the darkened figure and fired. The phantom moved to the side, moving faster than the bullets could fly. He moved past the last guard before spinning and sliding his knife into the side of the mans skull into his brain. The guard went quiet and limp. Pulling his knife freed, the assassin watched as the last guard fell to the ground before turning his attention to Akira.

The man was blubbering and crying, backing up and away from the assassin. He stepped back, his foot getting caught on one of the corpses causing him to fall backwards. He fell atop one of the fallen bodies, getting blood all over his blue suit. "N-no...please..." he pleaded, tears streaming down his face. Stepping in front of a door way, moonlight from the adjacent window cast upon the man revealing him. A man with dark gray hair, storm gray eyes that reflected nothing. It was like looking into the eyes of a shark, there was nothing but a chill looking back. He wore a black suit that held not even a single drop of blood upon it. "I-I can pay you! I can offer you more than your employers!" Akira bargained. Could he? The man raised an eyebrow before they narrowed. No, he couldn't.

With his knife, the man pointed at the three bodies that surrounded Akira. "Dead. Because of you." Akira blinked, feeling a bit of rage. "YOU'RE THE ONE WHO KILLED THEM!" Akira shouted, pointing a sausage finger at Zack. Mistake. With a quick and precise movement, Akiras finger was gone. Sliced clean off. It took the man a moment to notice before he started screaming and crying, holding the bleeding stump. "I held the knife, but it was you who made them stay." Zack said, reaching into his suit. Akira gasped, taking the opportunity to turn and pick himself up and begin to sprint. Zack raised an eyebrow, shaking his head as he slowly began to follow his prey. He withdrew one of his firearms from his suit, holding it tightly in his hand.

Within Zacks eyes was a emotion not often found in them, especially in jobs. Anger. Akira ran down the hall, trying to escape. He exited into the main room, a large circular chamber with stone columns. He decided to try for the front door, but Zack was going to let him. There was a BANG and the sound of something wet exploding. "EYAAAAAAAAAAGH!!" Akira screamed, falling to the ground. His entire knee was gone, blown apart by Zacks skilled shooting. Akira was crying, trying to crawl now. Zack was never this brutal. No, he never "played" with his kills. What was going on? Zack calmly walked up to Akira, still trying to crawl. With his foot he flipped the man onto his back, pointing the gun at him. "W-why...why...?" Akira asked. Zack didn't answer. He pulled the trigger with his gun aimed at Akiras head. The bullet pierced through his head with no difficulty. Zack gazed at the body with a empty look, sliding the firearm back into his suit.

Why did Zack do it like this? The answer was simple. Besides the money, there was a personal reason. The girl Akira violated, her family he ruined, her father was the brother of a man that Zack had served with. It was a respect thing, a brotherhood born from the military. When Zack figured out about this job, he took it as fast as he could. Nobody fucked with Zacks friends, even if they were dead. Hope this makes up for the spider, Fred.

[/i] Zack thought, closing his eyes and taking a deep breath. He opened his eyes when he heard a sniffling and crying. It was faint, but he could hear it. Turning his attention to a closed door he stepped towards it. Putting his hand on the knob and turning, Zack stepped into a dark room. The crying was louder in here.

Gretchen, the secretary, had hidden herself in the room. Zack could see her, cowering in the corner as she pulled her cellphone out. She was staring at Zack, shaking her head. "No...please...please don't kill me...please." she begged, bawling. Zack stared at her with a uncaring gaze and moved his arm. She flinched and gasped, then noticed Zacks open palm. She stared at it, then looked at Zacks face. He was wearing a unamused face, looking at her cellphone. Not wanting to argue, she tossed her phone to him. Zack caught it and squeezes. The phone shattered. He then turned and walked out, shutting the door behind him. He wasn't going to kill her. She was innocent, a civilian. Zack was not paid to kill her, nor would he. Only the target and whatever stood in his way. He still had his knife out as he sighed, deciding to make his escape now. He stepped forwards, deciding to head out the back, when something suddenly caught his attention.

Vacations were always awesome, but some were sweeter than others. Some favored trips to the Caribbean, or skiing in the Alps. It was just one of those things in life that people were willing to spend an exorbitant amount of money on. Not everyone could afford those dream vacations though. Even in the most industrious countries, there were still many who were too poor to even dream of trips like that. They stayed huddled in their homes. TV was their escape, not television. Not everyone needed to travel far away to find their ideal escape though. For some, it was as simple as a quick train ride out into the countryside. Still, not everyone could even afford that.

Trains were a part of daily life in Japan for most. They were how many people got to and from work, and they cut through basically every city. Trains were relatively affordable to. It was only 13,200 Yen for a trip from Tokyo to Kyoto… but that still didn’t mean everyone could pay. Students, for example, couldn’t hope to afford a fare like that without saving up quite a bit. Now, let’s be realistic, what student actually has good financial habits? Basically none of them. They spend their money on whatever they want without saving a dime. Even the students with part-time jobs could only afford a trip like that once in a while. Knowing that, we can now understand what motivated a hero to commit such a petty crime.

Our hero for this story was one of those students we were just talking about. Yoko Kusanagi was still relatively new to the whole hero thing, and today was actually supposed to be her day off from that. She’d snuck onto a Nozomi series bullet train from Karakura out to Kyoto. Sad though it was, this hero couldn’t afford the fare. Sure, she could probably have just ran to Kyoto if she wanted. She was fast enough that she could manage it in 4 or 5 hours, but the Nozomi line was both faster and easier. Besides, it was already running. It’s not like she was doing any harm to anyone by riding along in an empty seat. No one could argue with that logic.

So why was Yoko heading to Kyoto? Even though it was only two and a half hours by rail, it was still a bit far for a day trip. It was a rather easy reason to predict if you know anything about this girl though. A new arcade had opened up in Kyoto, and Yoko was a gamer. That by itself normally wouldn’t be enough to get her all the way out there. Tokyo was far closer, and it had more arcades than she could ever hope to visit. The draw was one very specific game that this arcade had gotten. The Tower of Power (yes, it’s an awful name) had one of the only copies of the new Gundam simulator game that Yoko had heard about. It was supposed to be a nearly exact replica of the cockpit of the CE units that were popular in Japan.

That was more than enough motivation for our hero to take a day off to go check it out. SEED wasn’t her favorite of the Gundam series, but who could pass up a chance to dick around in a simulator all day? Certainly not this fullbringer. Her trip out was spent mostly in silence. She didn’t have a ticket, so she didn’t try to attract any unnecessary attention. Even her outfit had been planned around that. For this trip, she was just wearing a pair of jeans, some chucks, and a gray hoody. While she didn’t exactly look too normal amongst the generally well-dressed Japanese passengers, she still didn’t stick out enough to draw attention.

Even though she wasn’t planning for any trouble, she still took her NERV ID with her. That little piece of plastic was the source of her power, so she never went anywhere without it anymore. Thankfully, she actually managed to go most of the day without using it. She got to the arcade in one piece, and most of the day was spent going undefeated in the simulator. Others could match her in game knowledge and skill. There were other fans who were just as obsessed as she was, so that wasn’t surprising. What they couldn’t overcome was the sheer speed that Yoko was able to manipulate the controls at. Her reaction times were nearly flawless, and her hands and feet moved so fast they blurred. Against normal humans, she was simply too fast.

It was definitely a fun experience, and she’d make a point of coming back some time, but she needed to bring some tougher competition. Wait… she had superhuman abilities… and normal people couldn’t outduel her with a Gundam... Could it be that she was part of the next stage in human evolution? It was a theory that ran through every Gundam series. They went by many names. Newtype, Coordinator, or Innovator. They always had superhuman awareness and talent for piloting, and Coordinators had the genetic potential to become unstoppable at nearly anything they did. A Coordinator who took care of their body was faster and stronger than a normal human. Maybe that’s was she was?

Her father was some kind of research scientist… maybe a chemist? She really needed to actually ask him what he did some time. All she knew is that he probably had friends who could do all sorts of weird genetic engineering. That’s how Coordinators were made. It had all come together. Her dad had to be part of some secret group that was trying to create the next species of humans, and she was the first one… or at least the first one she was aware of. That was a fun thing to figure out, and it had Yoko in a fairly good mood. It was a shame she didn’t get to enjoy it for too long. Day had faded to night, and she needed to get back to Karakura before the trains stopped running for the night.

On her way back to the train station, Yoko heard a sound she recognized all too well. Pop. It was a gunshot. She couldn’t quite make out the caliber of the first shot since she wasn’t listening closely, but she at least figured out the direction. Hero mode was fully engaged in her brain. With all of her speed, she took off towards the building the shot had come from. This time, she was close enough to hear it clearly. Pop. .45 ACP, not silenced. Handgun round, but it packs a kick. Years of Counterstrike were enough for her to be able to figure that out. Sure, she lacked experience with a real gun, but she was a walking encyclopedia of gun facts. They ranked right behind anime and videogames on her list of interests.

She had opted not to bring any weapons with her, so she was at a disadvantage in that category. Fortunately, she was beyond human. A gun simply couldn’t keep up with her speed. She slipped into the alleyway behind the building, through the back door, and into the building. Luck had her spot the obvious suspect for the shots before too long. Nice suit, cold look, and he smelled like gunpowder. That was an assassin if Yoko had ever seen one… and she’d watched enough Golgo 13 to know what she was looking for. Still, even Golgo 13 was human. She was confident that she could neutralize this threat easily enough… but she figured it would be nice to take him in alive if she could manage. Perhaps a simple show of her powers and knowledge would suffice?

She had figured out most of what had happened pretty clearly, but there was a bit of guesswork involved. Still, if she got it all right then this guy definitely had a reason to be worried. [smear:007700]”Two rounds of .45 ACP fired from an M1911. Assuming you loaded one in the chamber, that means you’ve got 6 shots left. Too bad they won’t hit me.”[/smear:00ff00] With the last of those words, she vanished with a use of movement. For a single step, her speed reached levels beyond what any normal human could hope to follow. She reappeared behind the assassin, one finger placed on his lower back as if she were holding a gun of her own. [smear:00ff00]”Hands in the sky killer."[/smear:007700]

I wanna quickly apologize for the amount of time you waited for this post. School, work, and health decided to take a major swing at me during this waiting period. I really am sorry and hopefully it wont have to take this long again

Well, it was over. The job was done and it was time to head home, except Zack wasn't going to get to. He felt her before he saw her, thanks to his ability to sense the inner energy of anything with spiritual power. She didn't conceal it that was for sure. Zack knew she was coming, even before she appeared. Zack stood still, even when she placed her fingers upon his back and began to speak. ”Two rounds of .45 ACP fired from anM1911. Assuming you loaded one in the chamber, that means you’ve got six shots left. Too bad they won’t hit me.” Zack raised an eyebrow. Well, she wasn’t wrong. He did have six shots left, but why would he use them? Zack stared ahead, except when he felt her fingers digging into his back. ”Hands in the sky killer." Yoko would then hear a slight chuckle. Did she think that was going to work?

Zack was a man who came from many careers devoted to action and fighting. He has had guns to his back before and could recognize the feel of a barrel. This was not that feel. The feeling was different, more rounded than the barrel of a gun. She asked him to put his hands in the air, well, she didn’t really ask. She ordered him to. It seems that this girl has more reiatsu than me and it’s just barely stronger than mine. The difference between our reiatsu qualities is miniscule. Still, sometimes even a distance as small as this can make all the difference.

Still, the woman who stood behind him was not a normal human. She was something else. She was probably the same thing he was, a Fullbringer. Or, maybe she was something else. Bount, Shinigami, or even a Modsoul. Regardless, she was radiating Spiritual Energies, and that meant she could have powers. She demonstrated some form of high speed movement, catching the assassin off guard with her step techniques. Silly girl, he was able to do that as well. He was not totally sure how fast this girl actually was, now did he know how physically strong she was. Actually, Zack didn’t even know what his girl looked like. He needed to fix that.

The two stood in the circular lobby of the mayors office building. Around them were the stone columns, a flight of stiars going upwards to a second floor, and a hallway. There was a second hallway as well, but it was behind the girl. Zack had options if he opted to move, and move he did. Using the same technique that the girl did, Movement, he vanished from sight with a step of incredible speed. Within that same instant, Zack appeared completely across the room from her, approximately ten meters away at the entrance to the other hallway. During the use of the step he had turned slightly, so that he could get a look at the girl plus point his gun at her. The m1911 was held tightly in his hand, pointed at her. If he chose to fire the bullet would hit her right shoulder, a relatively safe place to shoot someone at.

But now, Zack could get a good look at her. He gazed upon this new annoyance with a look of confusion. A kid?[/i] The girl before him look no older than sixteen, petite in stature with blonde hair and green eyes. She looked like any typical high school student. A kid was trying to stop him? That was pretty funny actually, but Zack didn’t laugh. In any other situation, he would have just laughed or made a sarcastic remark or scoff. No, not this time. The fact this girl had spiritual energy meant that taken her lightly or underestimating her was a sure fire way to get harmed or brought in. Though, being brought in wasn’t too bad. It was easy to escape from the police if need be.

Still, the situation hadn’t exactly changed. Zack needed to escape, not play the villain for this wannabe hero. Ontop of that, this person who stood across from him was nothing more than a teenager. This was going to suck; it was going to beat up his ego if he had to do in a teenager that wanted to play the hero. So, upon exiting his step technique and turning and pointing his gun at the girl, a quick movement of his arm angled the weapon downward. He pulled the trigger. The bullet would fly straight into her right thigh, impeding her movement should she be hit by the bullet which flew at a speed equal to 600 and had a piercing strength of 300. How would Yoko respond to this?

The man standing before Yoko refused to raise his hands. Instead, he vanished. It was a technique that the would-be hero was all too familiar with, as it was the one she had just used. She was facing another with powers. Her luck was always rotten like that. He was probably human though. Demons didn’t use guns, and neither did Shinigami. Lethal force would be instantly justified against either of those groups, but this was a human. Still… he was literally holding a smoking gun. It wasn’t hard to tell who the bad guy was, and there wasn’t any need to hold back. The only other witness had already run off too. She’d taken the chance to flee when Yoko arrived. That meant Yoko could defend against the opening gunshot the easy way.

With those three words, green reiatsu swarmed out from the younger of the two fullbringers. It encircled her, bonding to her skin and forming all over her body. Against the raw power of her reiatsu, the bullet was completely ineffective. It simply crumpled up and fell to the floor, unable to pierce the armor of her release. As her release finished forming, its true colors were revealed. The primarily white and blue suit was fitting for an ally of justice. Her reiatsu was completely unrestrained at this point. She made no effort to hide it since there were no longer any witnesses. With a shield on her left arm and a the blade mode of her GN rifle on the right, she began to walk towards the killer.

There was no more warning given. She stopped her advance and raised her sword to point at the assassin. The blade folded back, revealing what appeared to be a small gun, maybe the size of an Uzi. Still it didn’t look like any gun that the assassin had used before, and the projectiles weren’t as nice either. A thin blast of energy fired out from the barrel, flying as fast as a Cero. If the assassin didn’t move, it would hit him right between the eyes. But he would dodge. They always did, especially when they had powers. That’s what Yoko was waiting for. As soon as her shot had fired the blade snapped back up to return her right hand weapon to the form of a sword.

She was waiting to see how he defended himself. It was possible that this man could materialize some suit of armor like Yoko could, but she had a feeling her power was a bit stronger than his was. That was mostly founded on the unwarranted cockiness so often found in teenagers, but it didn’t matter. For once, she was actually right. Her reiatsu strength did exceed that of this man by a good margin. Even if he did have an armor technique, it probably wouldn’t be enough to stop that shot. Knowing that, or at least being confident enough to expect that, the hero knew that her latest adversary would have to dodge in some fashion.

It didn’t matter how he dodged the shot though. Whether it was by the breadth of a hair from simply moving his neck to the side or whether he vanished in a high speed step again mattered not. If it was clear he wasn’t vanishing, then the follow-up attack was launched instantly. If he used a step technique again, the counterattack was launched as soon as he re-appeared. With the instinct of a wild animal and senses of a trained athlete, Yoko was able to follow his speed regardless of his action. From his reaction, unless he held back, she had gathered that he was a bit faster than she was, but he was not so far beyond her that she couldn’t hope to keep up.

And so the second attack came as soon as the first was completed. Another use of movement brought the fullbringer into the asssassin’s personal space. This time she appeared in front of him. She wouldn’t attack from the back. It’s not that it was dishonorable or anything. That wouldn’t stop her against a known killer. No, she simply didn’t want to be predictable. She had appeared behind him the first time, and doing so almost immediately afterwards would have been far too easy to read. Once she was in place, a very simple strike was launched. It was a simple stab to the torso, and it was fairly easy to dodge if this man knew anything about swordplay or other forms of close quarters combat. The blade was held sideways though, so blocking would only work if it was done with a weapon made of spiritual steel. Anything lacking durability against spiritual attacks would simply be sliced right through.

These were simple attacks, meant to test the waters. Yoko had learned to not underestimate her opponents thanks to her recent battles. She knew that while she was strong, there were others who were far stronger than her. Enemies existed that could overpower her with relative ease, and she wasn’t going to be caught off guard against them again. Heck, she had even kept her torso covered by her shield while executing this stab in case there was a quick counterattack. Her fighting style still had plenty of elements of recklessness to it. She was fighting an unknown assassin who had just killed at least one person… so she wasn’t exactly putting her safety at the top of her priorities, but having her shield up was a good start.

Either way, these attacks would let her see how this man fought. Would he rely on his speed, as he had done a moment ago? If he did, Yoko could keep up with him well enough that it probably wouldn’t be effective. Would he perhaps show off some yet displayed strength? It was possible that he was built like The Hulk. Okay, maybe not that strong. He wasn’t big enough for that. He could have a Spiderman thing going on though. Proportionate strength of a spider and whatnot. There was also the possibility that he’d release his own powers in an attempt to deal with Yoko’s own. Heck, the possibilities were nearly endless, but anything he did would teach Yoko a bit about how he fought. All she had to do right now was wait and see whose style he was ripping off. That was nothing personal though. Yoko found a way to compare everyone’s style to a fictional character, and surely this assassin was no exception.

Uh oh. Zack felt it before he saw it. He felt the sudden shift in activity in her reiatsu, suddenly going from active to sporadic. The green lights that suddenly appeared the shouting clued Zack into what was going on. She was releasing. Well, she was either releasing her Fullbring or preparing some sort of technique. Regardless, Zack responded to her release in his own way. His Fullbring knife, Sting, was already transformed into its weapon state and resting within his right hands grip. So, with a quick release of his own reiatsu, he released his own Fullbrings hidden powers. The drain on his minimal amount of reiatsu brought with it a slight drain on his stamina causing him to take a deeper, hidden, breath. Though as he released his Primary Fullbring he reached into his suit and sheathed the firearm that was apparently ineffective against this target. After that he reached into his back pocket and pulled out a single coin hidden behind his treasured wallet. He gripped the coin tightly in his left hand. Activate

The coin in his hand grew hot as a green light escaped from Zacks hand. The coin mutated, changing shape greatly and growing many times its original size. The coin had transformed into a rather large firearm, though nowhere near the size of the females own weapon. Zacks secondary Fullbring, Contender, was undoubtedly a oversized handgun. It measured to at least sixteen inches in length, black in coloring, and with the phrase "FOR WHOM THE BELL TOLLS" written upon its size. Zack didn't need to worry about his weapon not being loaded, or primed, it always manifested in a readied state. He was not sure why he was already going into a full on battle position, but something about the girl before him made him feel troubled. Perhaps it was that she wore armor? No, it wasn't that. This girl was Zacks first real battle with a fellow Fullbringer. While he had trained and practiced with others of his kind, this was his first real battle with one. It made him nervous to say the least, but a quick mental scold put him back in check as he calmed his mind.

His eyes never left her form, taking in everything about her. The way she walked, the way she spoke, the appearance of her Fullbring, he was taking in everything with his eyes and analyzing it to figure her out. Clearly her Fullbring would serve as a form of armor to protect herself from direct attacks, though there was one technique in Zacks arsenal that he had learned in order to counter these sort of adversaries. However, he didn't quite what to resort to using it so early in this fight but using it too late could end up screwing him over as well. As she walked towards him, Zack took one step back and raised his left arm. Contender was aimed at her, a challenge directed towards her. She stopped in her movement and pointed the sword like weapon at Zack. He studied the weapon, noting the movement at the tip. It opened up to reveal some sort of small cylinder which she had pointed right at him. Oh, it was a gun. His animal like senses and mental processing speed clued him into the danger before it happened. He saw the green light before the beam, in which he tilted his body to avoid the laser. He watched it fly by where his head had been, noting its size and speed.

The unnamed female quickly followed up her attack with a vanishing of her form. She was using Movement again, trying to get into Zacks personal space. The assassins eyes widened slightly as the female appeared before him, jabbing at his torso with her weapon. But Zack was not one who could be caught off guard so easily. She could have easily appeared behind him as well, or on any side of him, but the fact remained that it didn't actually catch him off guard. He had sensed the reiatsu moving into her legs, indicating some form of advanced movement. The use of any sort of reiatsu skill that used the body as a catalyst would always give away what sort of technique it was by the way the reiatsu moved in the body. As the reiatsu had moved into her legs, it let the assassin know that she was planning on using a moving technique. Well, he had been right. She used Movement to appear in front of the assassin. She struck with her sword, aiming to impale Zack on the tip through the torso. Still, Zack wasn't going to be that easy to catch.

He moved to her left, dodging the blade and ducking downwards. He moved that way for a reason. To her left was the large shield that made up part of her Fullbring. Moving to her left would block her vision of Zack as well as make it difficult to strike back at him. While she could shield bash him, he wasn't giving her the time. Because as soon as he moved behind her shield he completely vanished. No, he wasn't using a Step Technique like Yoko had just moments ago. He used something else. His existence was completely erased from the world in which Yoko resided in. He now existed in a parallel dimension. Zack moved through Yoko, getting to her other side. She would undoubtedly be turning to face the direction Zack had just been, letting Zack get into her blind spot and unguarded side of her body. Behind her right shoulder, to be specific. Zack re-entered the present world, only using a quick use of Blink to test the waters as the female did. Contender was pointed at Yokos right shoulder. He was curious to see how her armor could stand up to the power of this firearm, as it had previously. But, could it stand up against this weapon? Contender was Zacks main offense weapon, as it was much more powerful than his standard firearms.

Pulling the trigger there was an exceptionally loud bang, far louder than the normal bang of a handgun. A solid fullbring bullet fired from the barrel of the gun, flying straight into the armor which protected Yoko. The bullets that Contender fired were special, different from average bullets. Each bullet fired from Contender was a thirteen millimeter explosive tipped round. Contenders firing power was much more powerful than Yokos armor, so the bullet literally punching a massive hole into her armor, as well as her arm if she had been hit. Being explosive tipped, the armor and her arm would have serious damage done to them. Perhaps her arm would be torn completely off, or simply hang loosely from a few shreds of armor and muscle. Or even the added weight of her sword rifle would just tear her arm right off. Of course, this was if Yoko had even been hit. Though the chances of it happening were quite high. Zack had wasted no time in the steps leading up to this, and had the elements of surprise and speed on his side. If the bullet had hit Yoko, Zack would leap backwards and land a few meters away, taking a deeper than normal breath as his actions took their toll on him. Steam rose up from the barrel of contender, a single casing lay on the floor. It was a cruel attack, but if Zack had decided to go in for a kill he could have easily positioned the gun to fire into a major organ or artery. He had fired to at least disable or sever her arm completely, to remove her ability to fight at all.

Well… that was unexpected. Of course he was able to dodge her attacks, but it was how he dodged that was interesting. Yoko’s shot was dodged as casually as most people dealt with an everyday task. It seemed that, to this assassin, being shot at was just as common as checking the time of day. There wasn’t a sign of worry on his face, let alone something like fear. He was an opponent used to life and death situations it appeared… and that was a distinct advantage for him. Yoko, on the other hand, was mostly just talk. Yes, she had some skills to back it up, but she hadn’t figure out the whole “be a badass” thing yet. Just from that reaction alone, it was clear she was fighting someone far more experienced in that department than she was.

That’s life!

Something like a lack of experience wasn’t going to deter Yoko. No, she was far too young to be put off by observations that would concern a more trained fighter. She still charged in to attack with her sword, and that was dodged just as easily. With an amazingly fluid movement, the man shrunk away from her sword and moved off to her left side. Nearly instantly, the female fullbringer began her follow-up attack. It was the obvious response when someone tries to sneak by on the side you’re holding a shield on too. Just hit them with the shield! She could have simply popped her arm outwards in an attempt to stun him briefly, but something told her that wasn’t the right move.

Instead, Yoko opted for a slightly more elegant counter. She pivoted on her left foot, swinging through where the assassin was with her shield. It was a horizontal strike, much like a backfist, but executed while holding a shield. That was why it looked so fluid too. It was basically just a martial arts move that she was already trained in. The shield in her hand was treated as no more of an extension of her own body, and thus was able to be used effectively without substantial training in shield-based combat forms. Of course this attack didn’t work either. She had pivoted about 90 degrees to slam her shield through where the assassin should have been, but he simply wasn’t there! That wasn’t a good sign, but Yoko wasn’t so naïve that she didn’t have a way to deal with that situation.

Rather than setting her right foot down once her pivot had reached 90 degrees, she instead kicked that same foot outwards with a roundhouse kick to speed up her acceleration. This caused her shield strike to expand from a quick 90 degree turn into a sweeping attack with the potential to go in a full circle. While there was enough power to turn that far if left unobstructed, Yoko found what she was looking for once her spin had reached the 270 degree mark. Her shield slammed into the torso of the assassin who had just appeared on the other side of her. Yoko, lacking specific knowledge about the assassin’s powers, simply assumed that he had used a high speed movement technique. She believed all his bullets were ineffective, and thus melee attacks were his best bet. The whole “run towards one side and then show up behind you” was a classic enough trick, and thus Yoko had no issue following it. Even if she was wrong about how the assassin got to that spot, her solution to the problem worked well enough.

Being struck by the shield, and Yoko having spun around, combined to throw off the man’s aim enough that the sole shot he fired went off into the distance. That wasn’t all the strike accomplished though. Yoko had held back her strength very slightly on this attack. Had she not, her opponent probably would have been sent flying into a wall, and that wasn’t what she wanted. Her shield made just enough contact to push him to the side a few feet. In the end, it essentially returned him to the same position they had just been in. There were only a few differences. The assassin was now facing sideways rather than towards Yoko. Her position was changed slight as well. She drew her shield back as she continued her spin, allowing her to rotate so that her right side was now facing towards the assassin.

This wasn’t a good change for the assassin. Yoko’s right side was the one holding her gunblade, and that arm had been raised to the assassin’s head. BANG. A point blank shot from an energy gun wasn’t something to mess around with, and this one had the potential to scramble his brains if he didn’t deal with it somehow. Considering the shield bash would probably leave him a bit stunned, it was definitely going to be tricky for him to manage. There was probably a technique up his sleeve to deal with it, but Yoko wasn’t really thinking about how this guy would dodge. She’d deal with that when it happened. For now, she was just trying to put an end to this fight as quickly as possible.

The assassins eyes winced as he felt the shield slam into the side of his body. The strike caused his arm to move, re-positioning the gun and causing the bullet to fly off into a different direction. Zack grit his teeth as his body was forced to turn due to the hit trying to fight through the strike as best he could but due to the force applied from the strike he was forced to turn. The woman was once again facing him, leaving Zack in a slightly stunned position as he tried to regain his balance. He saw her raise the rifle and point it right at him. His eyes widened as he predicted what was about to happen. If Zack didn't do something fast then there was a possibility of this brawl being his last.

They say that when your life is in danger that time slows down to your perception, and that when you were about to die your life flashed before your eyes. Well, that was sort of what happened. Time seemed to slow down as Yoko raised the rifle towards Zacks head. But rather than the time slowing be some sort of adrenaline effect, it was Zacks mind messing with him. He saw memories of his past. Scenes of his childhood, of playing with his brother and his family. He saw brief flashes of his teenage life through school and his eventual joining of the military. That was when Zacks life had begun to turn to hell, the time he had served his country proudly as another gun. He saw the village his team was attacked in. He saw the explosions, felt the heat of the flames, smelt the gun powder. It brought back unpleasant memories.

No, no more. Zack didn't want to remember. His eyes widened as the gun was pointed at his head. His grip tightened on Sting as he he saw the green light. Suddenly everything turned orange. As if a sepia filter had been placed onto the world. The laser fired from the gun, flying directly into Zacks head and out the other side. But, something wasn't right. The laser flew through Zacks head as though it was a illusion. He had achieved this by using his standard Blink power, but using it only his head region. Thus while his head appeared in the world, it currently resided in the Blink realm.

Without any sort of verbal thought, Zack raised his gun as fast as his body would let him. The armored female would undoubtedly be taken by surprise by this and Zack chose not to let this moment go to waste. As his head returned to its original dimension he pulled the trigger on his gun. He had opted to not go for a accurate shot, simply firing three rounds at random parts of her torso. If these bullets hit they would undoubtedly tear her armor and body apart. Contender was Zacks main method of battle while Sting was more of a form of defense and infiltration. His two Fullbring worked perfectly together. One attacked while the other defended. The only issue was that Contender would needed to be reloaded and so did Sting in a way.

Just like that, the battle was over. The assassin didn’t even try to dodge. The pulse of energy flew straight through him… but…what… He was perfectly fine. It was impossible. He’d just been shot in the head, but there was no hole. There wasn’t blood, or even a burn. The shot had definitely gone through him and hit the wall behind him, so how wasn’t he injured? It was at that moment that Yoko realized just how fucked she was. She was against an opponent who, as far as she could tell, simply defied the laws of reality. There simply wasn’t an explanation that she could come up with for how he was still standing. It wasn’t an issue of armor or defenses, but he seemed to only exist if he wanted to. It was as if this assassin had the ability to not-exist within this world or something… but that was simply insane.

But there was only precious little time to be shocked. Just as the assassin had experienced it a moment ago, time seemed to slow down as one fullbringer raised a gun towards the other. There wasn’t enough experience in her life to have anything flash before her eyes. Yoko was still young, and fairly innocent. Her memories were intact, but she had so little worth remembering at that moment. Instead, she just froze as she watched the gun barrel move towards her. Every millimeter of its movement was processed with astonishing clarity, yet her body still wouldn’t move. This was the fear that she was feeling at that moment. It had consumed her entirely, for she knew, somehow, that her armor wasn’t strong enough to stop this gun.

It was only at that last second, right as the gun fired, that Yoko’s body finally responded. She poured every ounce of speed she had into a use of movement in a futile attempt to move to her right. She was fast, but the gun had already fired at nearly point-blank range. There simply wasn’t enough time left for her to get out of the way. The first shot caught her in the left arm, just above the wrist. These rounds weren’t normal either. It detonated on contact, blowing her hand clean off. Pain from a wound like that was immeasurable, to the point that Yoko couldn’t even scream. It wasn’t over though. The second shot went wide, but the third took her left shoulder with it. Just as with her wrist, the explosive-tipped round annihilated the joint completely. The remnants of her arm fell to the floor with a dull thud, and the fight was over.

Blood poured from her wound with such speed that Yoko knew she only had a few minutes before she would lose consciousness. There wasn’t any time to fight, nor was there any hope in doing so. She fled. As fast as her legs would take her, she ran away. It took every bit of her strength of will and tolerance for pain to stay conscious, but she pulled miraculously kept going. After a few steps of movement, her release sealed itself. Yoko masked her reiatsu, hoping she had gotten far enough, fast enough, that she couldn’t be tracked. While she still could, she headed for the second closest hospital. Her left side covered in blood, she stumbled into the reception area and uttered a single word to the horrified nurse behind the counter.
