Was it a trap? Was it a stake out? Was the hit all planned out? All three of those questions deserved nothing but the answer; yes. It was a chilly August night. The darkness had arrived blanketing Karakura Town in its heavy drape. People were out and about, either on their way home from work or just having fun. Karakura Town was a interesting place, almost like a island with his different it was. Karakura Town was one of the worlds "hot spots". It contained one of the worlds heaviest spirit population. It was, in fact, one of the few that was a place of living. The Bermuda Triangle, Chernobyl, Hiroshima, were just a few other places in this world were spiritual energies were abundant.
To tell the truth, when Zack first received this hit he was sketchy as hell about it. Not only was this a completely out of character style job, but just the way it was set up sent off a few red flags in Zacks mind. Firstly, this was required to be a public kill. Zack was never comfortable performing kills such as these, due to the constant threat of discovery and incarceration. Though, to be fair, Zack could now easily escape any law enforcement personal that tried to capture him. But, that wasn't the point. A public kill could be easier, but it was just far more dangerous. The next issue was this was a contract assigned from Xcution and they had said it was something special.
Zack had been at his house, simply taking some time off to enjoy his last few weeks of "normal" living. He had been sitting on his couch watching some late night movies, drinking some beer, when the card was slid underneath his door. It had taken him awhile to notice the X symbol on his floor, interrupting his viewing of Tremors. When he had finally picked it up, it had a number on the back with the words "Job" on it. Well, curiosity took over so sure enough the laid off assassin called the number on the back of the card.
"Greetings, Mr. Jensen. My name is Anabeth, your personal contractor for Xcution." the voice answered from the other side of the line. Zack chuckled slightly, rotating the glass of whiskey in his hand a bit. "I'm not officially a member of Xcution yet, I still need to wait three weeks and go through the training I was told about." Zack replied, placing his glass down on a coffee table infront of his couch. "We are aware, Mr. Jensen. But, we believed that this job will be beneficial to you. It's best to keep your skills sharp and to keep you from drinking yourself into a stupor." Anabeth replied with a hint of amusement in her voice. Mr. Jensen smiled as he couldn't help but agree with her. "Alright, cannot argue with that. So, tell me about this job." Zack responded, sitting down and taking in the information.
So, here he was. He had returned to Karakura Town to complete this job. Actually, Karakura Town had some bad memories for the Hitman due to past interrupted hits. But, hopefully, this time around it was going to go better. And that was why he was here, to do a job and get paid. It was nothing more. So, the black Mercedes glided silently down the road. It's tinted windows hide the individual inside as he searched for the restaurant. It was some sort of Mexican restaurant and in a town serving primarily eastern dishes it shouldn't be that hard to find.
Eventually, after driving for another fifteen minutes he noticed the sign. Well, he found the place. Wasn't really that hard after all! Zack took a left turn, cruising his vehicle into a turn at a intersection and moving AWAY from the restaurant. About two blocks away Zack drove his car down a alley, parking it behind some dumpsters. Content his video was hidden he took a look around before stepping out. Dark gray hair complimented his stormy gray eyes as he looked around. The black suited male stepped towards his cars trunk, sliding the key into the lock and turning it. Once opened, Zack viewed its contents. A rather large brief case and a few locked boxes. Firstly, Zack popped the restraints on the briefcase and opened it. Inside was a standard UMP45, with three cartridges full of ammunition.
Zack gently pulled the weapon out, checking it over for any damages or clogged dirt in the barrel. Zack then pulled one of the cartridges free and inserted it into his gun before placing it back into his brief case. He closed the case before reaching for the other boxes. He placed one of them on top of the gun case and opened it. Inside were two things. A dark colored tube and a gas mask. The tube was filled with a specially prepared knockout gas, designed to only render Humans unconscious. This was what caused many red flags to go off in Zacks mind as he prepared for this job. He had been given gas to knock out humans, not whatever it was he was hunting. Was he hunting one of Them? The black robes? The vampires? Zack had learned a few things about the spiritual world, but he was still fairly ignorant. Regardless, the gas was to keep the normals from getting involved...mostly.
Checking the mask and the vial, he placed both back into the box and placed it to the side in the trunk. Zack placed a longer more rectangular box atop the brief case and examined its contents. His tools, as he liked to call them. Inside was his newly acquired Convert-A-Weapon, a odd device that could become any weapon Zack wanted. Might come in hand. It was shaped, ahead of time, into a narrow cylinder for easy access and storage. He placed it into his suit pocket. Along with the Convert-A-Weapon was a watch like device, the Soul Gauge. Zack had been advised to bring it since it might be good to know the spiritual strength of what he was fighting. Whatever. He replaced his current watch with it. It took the appearance of a rolex submariner. He checked it to make sure it worked, the device reading Zacks own spiritual numbers and displaying them to him via its screen. Zack nodded, still not understanding how ones spirit could be analyzed and displayed numerically.
Along side both of those weapons were a few more....mundane tools Zack had become accustomed to using. The first was a fiberwire. Zack had taken some wire and fashioned it into a strangulation weapon, complete with two handles to tighten the line and allowing Zack to use it at full strength. Along with that was a jar filled with gumball sized red spheres. Explosive Balls. Very useful. Only activated if the timer was pressed into a very specific way, and had a five second ignition time. Zack removed five of them, carefully, and placed them into his suit. He didn't truly need to be afraid of them, he knew how to be careful. Then, Zack removed two vials. One had purple liquid, the other green. Poison and a antidote for the poison. Both would come in handy. Finally, Zack believed he was ready. He grabbed onto his brief case and the case containing the gas and removed them, closing and locking the truck behind him.
However, before leaving, Zack placed his things down and reached into his right sleeve. He removed part of a silver sword shaped charm, a gift to him from his deceased wife. This was more than a charm, it was a item personal to him. It was his release, his Fullbring. He never left home without it, and honestly, Zack hoped he wasn't going to have to use it. He still couldn't quite control the thing and it always ended up tiring him out after use. Regardless, Zack was a "Fullbringer" now so he needed his Fullbring.
Making his way back to the resturaunt, Zack took a detour. He maneuvered his way into a alley behind the place looking for a way to the roof. The ventilation system was on the roof, he needed to get to it. Zack ended up finding a ladder that lead right up. Placing his briefcases on the ground, Zack opened up one that contained his gas and removed the container. I really hope this gas doesn't kill the people in there. Still, what is with this job. I guess it makes sense. Those people will probably have me hunting these things now. Zack thought as he placed the cylinder inside his suit and began climbing. Upon reaching the top he gave the rooftop a quick scan then saw his target. A large machine with what looking to be a massive fan ontop. Zack walked over to it, eyeing it with a tad hint of amusement. They really should have covered this up. I wonder if birds end up taking a shit in it.[/i] Zack chuckled, but suddenly grabbed at his head and hissed. He had been drinking again.
Zack drank when depressed or worried and that was catching up to him. His mind felt slow as he suffered his mini hangover. Shaking his head, Zack extracted the canister from his suit. Holding his breath and moving his face away, Zack turned the lid. With a hiss a piss yellow gas began to creep out from the canister, which Zack immediately dropped down into the ventilation shaft. The hitman took many steps back before breathing again. He needed to give the gas three minutes. He quickly moved down the ladder and upon reaching the bottom he hastily opened his gun case. First, Zack put the gas mask on and made sure it was tight with no leakage. A single wiff of this gas would put him out. The gas needed three minutes to spread and would take another three to dissipate. The effects would last an hour. After making sure the mask was tight and secure, he pulled the gun from the case and gave it a final check. It was perfect and even came with a nifty laser sight! Cool.
He positioned himself by the backdoor, waiting. He could hear the chitter chatter of a mixture of japanese and spanish. He could hear the sounds of cooking and metal on metal. Then the coughing began. This would be when the target inside would receive his bill. The coughing grew louder throughout the restaurant as people began to fall over. Zack made his move. He pushed the door open and stepped into the kitchen. People were falling over, some trying to stay awake. Zack spotted one man by the ovens, about to fall onto a skillet full of something bubbling and sizzling. The assassin dashed to him and pulled him away onto the floor. Say what you want, Zack may have been a murderer but he was a damn nice guy. Zack made sure none of the other chiefs were in any trouble before he stepped towards the door to the dining hall. He made sure to switch on the laser light.
He kicked the door open, most likely surprising the only occupant inside who was still awake. The laser was painted directly on Pandoras forehead and unmoving. "Don't move!" Zack ordered. He stepped over a fallen waitress. "I am not going to waist my time explaining whats going on. I just want you to answer some questions. What are you and why are people after you?" Zack suddenly asked. Okay, truth be told, he wanted to know. This whole thing had sent off so many red flags he deserved the right to know, right? Pandora could either answer his questions, or be riddled full of bullet holes. But, one way or another, Zack wanted to know what Pandora was. "What's your name?" Zack asked. Very odd way to begin a hit.
Tap, tap, tap. Pandora was rapping his fingers on the table. He had finished eating his delicious meal. It was a burrito filled with chicken and salsa. There was also some other things in it as well but Pandora didn't pay attention to everything in it. It was so damn good that he scarfed the thing down in about 4 bites. Tomorrow was going to be a toilet day he knew that for sure. He stopped tapping and picked up his cola and took a sip from the straw. This waiter was really taking a while to bring him his bill. Pandora set the cola back down on the table. He began to stare at a ceiling fan. Pandora sometimes went into dazes when he was trying to be patient or if he went into deep thought. He was watching the blades of the fan spin around and around. He wasn't in deep thought because the day had been pretty boring. Pandora liked this restaurant he was most likely going to be coming back here in the near future. Not tomorrow because eating in the same place twice was a little too much for him. Pandora especially hated eating the same thing twice in a row. So he would go elsewhere and then come back. Maybe he would even try something else when he came back.
Pandora saw something yellow coming down from a vent near the fan. He raised his eyebrow. It was faint but he saw it. However when he tried to look closer he couldn't see anything anymore. The gas had been dissipating into the area so Pandora couldn't really see it as well. Then he heard people starting to cough. He looked around and saw his waiter approaching him. Then he fell to the ground. Pandora was unaffected by this gas. e was figuring it was some sort of gas from what he had seen but he wasn't sure entirely what was going on. Then he remembered Cupid telling him about a man that used gases to hurt people. He said this man was a killer and he should not be taken lightly. He wore a gas mask and went by the name of Katekarin. Pandora gripped the table. He hadn't known for sure if this was that same guy.
He looked around not getting out of his seat just yet. That's when the man entered. The door had pushed open from the kitchen. Yanking the table from its hinges he wailed it towards the man entering through the door. Quickly Pandora slipped his hands into his pockets. His black lacquer gloves had been in his pockets. He took them everywhere in case he needed them. Pandora had quickly jumped back behind a booth wall creating more distance and something to hide behind. He hadn't known who the man was but he wasn't going to let this guy get the upper hand.
Pandora didn't understand why this man was asking him what he was and why anyone was after him. Pandora hadn't made a spectacle of himself. He fought a couple fullbringers before but that had been friendly spars and nothing that led to anyone trying to kill him. Then again he fought a shinigami once and he swore revenge on him. But he doubted that that had anything to do with this matter either. Pandora was simply not going to just give this guy the answers he was looking for. He didn't even know the answer to that second question anyway. "I don't know why anyone would be after me. But, What I am is none of your business." Pandora said while crouched behind the wall. He grabbed a chair near him and whipped it over towards Zack.
"This guy has some nerve. He busts into this joint and gases out the place then comes in trying to point a gun at me and starts asking me questions like why people are after me? Or what am I?" Pandora was going to pummel this guy. He didn't need such disrespect so he was going to make sure that he taught him a few lessons so he wouldn't come barking up the wrong tree again. Pandora hadn't known anything about this guy though. He hoped that whoever it was Pandora would still be able to hold his own against him. All he really had to do was make physical contact with him and he could make things bad for this guy. Though it was scary to just rush in at him not knowing exactly what he was capable of. "You Came in here and did all this then started asking me questions. Hah! You're not getting answers that easily."
Table! Quickly, dodge! Those thoughts impulse through Zacks hung-over mind as a rather large table was flung at him. He ended up side stepping the wooden projectile as it slammed into the doorway. The target was on the move, and Zack couldn’t allow that. With his trained eye Zack kept the firearms laser on Pandora as the man tried to flee. Too bad he wasn’t fast enough. This truly was a easy job. Zack pulled the trigger. Click. Click? Zack pulled it again. Click. The gun let out another click. Zack looked down and stared at the weapon dumfounded. It jammed? How? How the bloody hell did the gun jam?? It was clean! Zack made sure it was in working order! Maybe the rounds got stuck or something, that was always a possibility. But right now, that was a curse! Piece of junk[/i] Zack threw the gun to the floor and ducked down behind a set of booths separated by a privacy wall, similar to what his prey did.
The chair went whizzing through the air and collided with the wall, shattering and falling onto a table breaking a glass. Zack shook his head at that. What a sloppy throw He thought as he narrowed his eyes and pondered about what Pandora had said. ” I don't know why anyone would be after me. But, what I am is none of your business!" That statement had essentially confirmed Zacks suspicion Pandora wasn’t human. Well, to be fair, Zack knew that Pandora wasn’t a human. That was the point of this job and was hinted at it ridiculously. But, hearing Pandora say it was the final check Zack needed. Peeking out, Zack noted that Pandora had also hidden himself. Actually, did he really hide?
Ever since the appearance of his spiritual powers it seemed that Zack had acquired a sixth sense. It was hard to describe, personally. The best way to describe it was Zack could detect the spiritual energies of anything possessing said spiritual energy. Describing it in any way of similarity to the previous five senses was difficult. The best way to describe it was that Zack could just feel it. He could feel that Pandora was there, he could feel the energy inside him. It was…ridiculously hard to explain the sensation. When it first appeared, Zack almost went nuts trying to figure out what it was and how to stop it.
Well, over the past few days Zack somehow got accustomed to it. He just accepted it was there and ended up getting used to the feeling. As it turns out, the ability to sense energy was quite useful. He could sense Pandora hiding behind the booth, so that made the next part even easier. Reaching into his coat he pulled out one of the small explosive spheres he brought with him. He really hoped nobody but Pandora was over there, or Zack was going to have a serious guilt trip later. Zack pressed his thumb into the small circle symbol on the sphere, lighting it up with a flashing light. Zack quickly turned and tossed the sphere across the restaurant, noticing it land behind the row of booths Pandora was hiding behind. If the Mod Soul didn’t move in that five second time limit, he wouldn’t be moving again. The spheres had the explosive power of a hand grenade, so the resulting explosion would do serious damage to him if he didn’t move.
The assassin was pulling out the stops for this job. He had no idea the powers of this creature, so he needed to kill it quickly. The explosive device went off, filling the restaurant with a massive boom. Wood, dishes, food, and someone’s arm flew through the air. Wait, someone’s arm? God damn it. Explosives were to dangerous. But hey! Maybe that arm was Pandoras! Either way, even before the explosive went off Zack was on the move. He moved further down the wall, shaking the charm in his sleeve loose and gripping it in his hand. It glowed green as the silver charm suddenly turned into a black dagger. Sting, Zacks fullbring. He could now summon it on command and without much issue, save for the drain on his energy. It was best to have it out now than to wait until it was too late. He placed his hand into his coat again and pulled out a second explosive, waiting to see what Pandora was going to do.

Pandora was ready and alert. He knew this guy was going to try something else. Whether that meant he was going to shoot at him with that gun or throw some kind of gas his way Pandora was waiting for it. He obviously knew this guy wasn't going to be friendly so he wasn't taking any chances. He watched as the grenade was lobbed in his direction and behind him. Pandora jumped over the booth towards Zack in a moment of courage he picked up another table and put it in front of him as he continued his dash. Pandora hadn't known what his guy was capable off but he needed to eliminate the distance between them and somehow deal with that gun.
Pandora release reaitsu into the table using the form of his ability to unlock the full potential as a weapon. This meant that the table was now treated as an unsealed weapon. He had powered it up enough to but it at class 4. This was to make sure that he could use this table very efficiently and protectively. The table was going to be his shield so he wasn't going to let himself get done in because he didn't put enough power into it. Additionally the table now had all of Pandora's raw strength so if Zack had come into impact with it he would be smashed with Pandora's full strength stat.
Pandora caelumintroed just before the grenade had time to go off. He moved first stepping on the airground and propelling himself towards Zack but also angling his step so that he wouldn't be right in front of him at the end of his first step. The good thing about caelumintro was that it granted two steps. The first was slower than the second but maybe Zack wouldn't catch onto this since it was all a blur of motion anyway. Pandora's first step put him on the same side of the booth wall as Zack. Pandora had still had a table in his hand and was holding it between him and Zack. The second step then propelled him in Zacks direction. He was aiming to move a little past Zack and the result using the table to bash into Zack and knock him backwards.
Pandora was holding it by the legs so Zack wouldn't need to worry about getting bluntly stabbed by one of these, but in combination with Pandora's speed and strength he was definitely going to need to be cautious about letting it smack him. He could try to slice through it but would he be able to react quickly enough to do so? Pandora wanted to pulverize this guy and then ask him why the hell he came to start a fight with him. He hadn't even done anything to deserve this. Even the guy had asked him why people were after him so he didn't even know himself. "You come in here, and attack me, and you have the nerve to ask me why people are after me. Do you just act blindly and follow orders without question? Whoever you're working for clearly doesn't have their priorities straightened and neither do you. Especially since you have zero information about me but you just come in swinging anyways."

Information. Information was a valuable weapon in any job or battle one went into. In the working field, not knowing how to do the job you have been given is a sure fire way of being terminated or seriously fucking it up. It was this reason that people were trained to do a job, so they had the information to perform the job. Now, combat required more information than a simple job did. In combat, you needed to know the enemy. Knowing was half the battle. Knowing their strengths, weaknesses, capabilities, skills, provided one side with a valuable edge in battle. Going into a battle with an absence of information on the opponent was something foolish and could lead to one defeat. That was the issue here.
Zack had gone into this battle with no information on his quarry. Whoever in their right mind thought this was a good idea was a complete idiot. You don’t blindly send a soldier into a fight. But, complaining about it wouldn’t do any good. Zack was here and Zack was fighting. Still, the lack of information had once again managed to catch Zack off guard completely. The target had grabbed another table, and Zack assumed that he was going to rush around the walls and try to smack Zack with it. The assassin was wrong. The man…vanished. What!?[/i] For a split second the man named Pandora was gone. No, wait. Gone wasn’t the right word. Some sort of blurring, like when you moved your hand fast across your vision was what it seemed to be. Pandora had somehow achieved a level of speed that was…impossible to say the least. All Zack saw was the blur hit his side of the room. Zacks eyes widened as he had a thought, a murmur of a idea of what was about to happen. However, there were some things you couldn’t perfectly prepare for. This was one of them.
It was simply an impulse, like the twitch of a finger. He needed no words to activate it, simply the thought of it. Blink!. Everything Zack could see had suddenly become more orange, as if a sepia filter had been put over Zacks eyes. Pandora and his attack would have passed right through Zack. No, that was wrong. The Mod Soul would see that Zack was no longer even there! Pandora wouldn’t be able to detect Zack at all, as if the assassin was never even there. That was Blink. Blink was the power of Zacks Fullbring. It allowed Zack to slip into a parallel dimension of which he was the only living thing. His world was like a window into the real world, being able to move through the world with no limitations and yet not being able to interact with anything. That’s how Zack avoided Pandora, by simply not existing in that spot anymore. Still within the Blink the assassin leaned to the left, letting himself phase through the separation wall and the seat on the other side.
"You come in here, and attack me, and you have the nerve to ask me why people are after me. Do you just act blindly and follow orders without question? Whoever you're working for clearly doesn't have their priorities straightened and neither do you. Especially since you have zero information about me but you just come in swinging anyways."
Not exiting his dimension, Zack heard what Pandora had to say and cast him a gaze. His eyes widened slightly as Pandra was glowing with a blue aura along with the table he carried. So, this was Spiritual Energy? Blink allowed Zack to see reiatsu as color, allowing him to estimate how powerful someone was spiritually by the color of his or her reiatsu. But, back to what Pandora had said, Zack couldn’t help but make a reply. The problem was, Pandora wasn’t going to hear him. He’s annoying, but he has a point. The contractor should have given me information and shouldn’t have asked for a kill like this. I don’t like public kills.[/i] Zack thought, maneuvering himself so that he could clearly see Pandora. What was this guys powers? Looking at Pandora, Zack narrowed his eyes as he looked at the table that glowed with the same aura as Pandoras. Perhaps his power is to send his Spiritual Energy into other objects. But what does that do? He tried to collide it into me, so it has to have some sort of physical effect.[/i] Zack pondered, never taking his eyes off of Pandora who must have been both confused and worried about the complete disappearance of his attacker.
Adjusting his grip on his Fullbring, Zack tried to ponder some sort of strategy. The guy was clearly fast, clearly faster than Zack was. However, Zack had the power to become untouchable and undetectable so that was a plus for him. Now, he needed to figure out a game plan. He was going to use his time in Blink to catch his breath and formulate a plan. There were a few options, but Zack was to worried about Pandoras unknown abilities.
Remaining Reiatsu: 800 / 1000 -100 for Blink, to be deducted after Blink ends
When Pandora when to collide with Zack he prepared for impact. But then he hit nothing. Pandora then realized Zack had been gone. Quickly he surveyed the area. He was going to need to locate him quickly but he couldn't seem to spot him anywhere. Then again Pandora had average energy sensory and he couldn't even sense him anywhere. "Did he flee? Or is this some sort of trick? What the hell is up with this guy?" Pandora backed up against a wall and twisted the table in his hand. He wasn't about to open up his back for an attack from this guy if he really was still around. "Show yourself coward. Your sneaky tricks are annoying."
Pandora was all worked up for a fight even though he had no idea why it was going on. He wanted a fight now. And this guy was just hiding. He did some tricks before and now he's doing more tricks. A fight with all these tricks wasn't fun to him. He wanted to exchange blows and draw some blood. If this guy didn't show himself soon he was going to ditch the scene and find a way to make it back to his house undetected. He didn't know if the guy would somehow follow him home and he knew that wouldn't be good for whoever it was that was after him. So he would do them a favor and not guide them into a trap of two powerful house owners.
There really wasn't anything for him to do since he could in know what sense where Zack was and he had no tricks to find him. So he relaxed his body waiting for him to strike. He wasn't going to allow him the upper hand when and if he showed himself again. He also was going to try and make sure he didn't do something like this again because it was just too risky for Pandora.
