The shockwave came, and Zeich was knocked back. His arm hung limply at his side, the limb broken by the force by which it was thrown down, but his malicious smile never faded. Golden, glowing eyes met Irudai’s even as the Third Seat was sent flying. Zeich caught himself quickly, his boots digging into the dirt as he recovered from the attack. Quickly he stepped back again, a Shunpo taking him out of the way of the second set of shockwaves before a similar motion had him moving back towards Irudai, closing the distance between them in a moment. The clawed hand came forward again, slashing towards the man’s face again. If it connected, the Vice Captain would lose both of his eyes to those jagged, ash-formed claws, the bladed tips already glistening with his blood.
This was most certainly not Zeich; the aggressiveness that this creature exhibited was far beyond the Third Seat’s normal stoicism, his calm yet cold demeanor. It was as if every part of his personality had been simply reversed, bringing out a deadly bloodlust and a lack of regard for any of the lives around him; all he wanted to do was kill, to maim, to bleed his enemy dry. It was why he instinctively went to rip apart Irudai’s face, to tear out his eyes and rip the flesh away from bone, to leave him in agony as he sank into blood-soaked darkness. Zeich’s whole body was just moving, without any conscious thought besides the desire to kill, to rip things apart, to bleed out everything that moved before him. He wanted blood, and he lunged with the intent to take it.
But then came the counterattack. Irudai’s whole body swung around for a powerful thrust of his blade, one that struck towards Zeich’s face, and the forming mask that was beginning to cover his features. Pointed teeth were beginning to form in a distinct cone-like shape before his face, almost like the muzzle of an animal, while the mask curved backwards around his cheeks, taking on ridged shapes. The upper half of his face was still visible, golden eyes glittering with that same feral intensity, and one would almost say at a glance that he was more animal than human in his attitude and appearance. And now, Irudai’s blade came hurtling towards the center of the mask, prompting the bestial instincts surging forward to react almost immediately.
Leaping upwards, Zeich quite literally vaulted onto Irudai’s arm in a sudden, quick hop; it was not with two legs, as a human would, but all four limbs coming down on his arm for only a moment; with that he suddenly was gone again, passing by the Shinigami’s head and whirling about. His arm came forward in another blinding movement, one that had the ash on it rising up in a cloud between the two that immediately formed several large blades, four or five katana that would stab into the Vice Captain's back should he not avoid the attack. It was another sign that this was not Zeich; already he was going beyond his Shikai’s normal limits, pushing it further with Reiatsu that welled up from an unknown source within him.
“Come on, you pathetic weakling! Is that all you’ve got, brute strength!? I’ve fought humans with more coordination than your sorry excuse for a body could bring to bear!” Zeich let out a loud, cackling laugh even as he stabbed a hand forward, more blades forming and dissolving upon thrusting towards the Vice Captain’s body. Each weapon was the size of a standard katana, though they were mere blades at this point without hilts, stabbing outwards from the wave of ash that rose up before him. “But that’s perfectly fine! I enjoyed that little taste of your blood, and it’s given me an appetite for more! Just die for me, and let me dine on your ebbing life!”
